She is very well informed, organized, and has excellent powerpoint slides you can access online and study from. She answers questions very well and has intelligent discussions with the class.

all i can say is nice teacher plus fascinating subject = A for a grade. taking this class definitely trigger my interest in art that i never thought i possess.

There are one presentation, paper, midterm , and final in this class. Exams are multipul choice. There is also extracredit, so it's not so difficult to get A. Sit in the front rows and enjoy her lecture!

She has a strong accent. Her class is not easy A. Maybe, you can get easy B or C. She makes you work with groups all the time. If you don't have any luck on the member, then you might have hard time. The points you get for group project worth same as the points for mid term. Your group members also evaluate your work.

LOL @ last comment....her tests are ridiculously easy if you study at least a little bit...you don't even have to look at the book...just go over the online slides couple of times and memorize few terms...that's it...I think she is a very fair teacher, and tries hard to make the class interesting.

But as the quarter went on she grew on me. 1)Because she is so knowledgeable about art history and is really interested in what students have to say 2)She's pretty funny and friendly. I thought Y. Karmi was a fun teacher, the class wasn't hard but it wasn't a sinch either. I thought she was funny; I won't lie either she's also kinda hot. I recommend her class.

Reading the comments about her being difficult is ridiculous. She doesn't favor anyone. As long as you come to class & do the group work & study for at least a little bit w/ her powerpoint presentations you should be able to pass. I don't talk in class so she doesn't know me & I got an A. Never even cracked the book open. Nice instructor.

Easy class. Attendance mandatory. Group work almost everyday- must work with someone else or else you don't get credit. 1 paper on your museum visit or alternative assmt replicating an old art piece from textbook. Class is pretty easy. She tries to get the class involved in discussions. In the dark for most of class bc of slides & movies.

This class is very enjoyable and I do not even like art and Yael made it interesting. You have to be on time and pay attention in class. You can do extremely well if you listen to her instructions about every paper and mid term. Follow her and make a friend out of her and she will tell you how to succeed. You have to study for tests no easy way out

Fun class. Very interesting teacher. Attendance is mandatory. It was four hours on Saturday morning but she kept us engaged.

I had an excellent experience in this class. I feel not only did I learn about the history of art, but the history & culture of those periods that she taught. She is a great teacher & I really appreciated her passion for teaching. There is a paper, a presentation, 2 midterms, & final. It's not difficult to get "A" if you show up & do the work.

She's good at making class interesting. has a lot available on the internet (Topics, Highlights, power point presentations...).Young and on point and Straight forward. Prof. Karmi's class was extremely easy. There was this little presentaion (easy even if you dont like presenting) a group paper. the 2 midterms I barely studied for an got a B given only 5 people got B's and nobody got an A. plus a fairly easy final that ended me with a B in the class. you learn what you need to and she makes it easy and fun. I really liked this class, which was my first one in art history. I thought it would be boring but Yael is a great teacher, and I actually learned a lot and enjoyed the class.

She is easy to get along with. I did not like the fact that she was always wanting us to work in groups. What a waste of time. The intro section was probably the hardest out of all the Arts department classes I have taken. Not only a relaxing and calm environment, but a teacher that is very helpful always. Each class consists of a presentation she perfunctorily renders, in which we, as students, take notes and gather as much information and knowledge as possible. Three midterms and a final, all-in-all, the tests are fair. No homework, with exception to a museum trip.

She has a pretty accent that shouldn't be difficult to understand. Study guides are posted online--only things on the guide show up on exams. She tends to rush on topics nearing the end of a unit. Typical lectures using PowerPoint, lots of group discussions, and one group term paper at the end of the quarter.

Her class is actually interesting, and she's really funny. She takes role every day, has 3 exams and 1 term paper. She definitely knows what she's talking about which makes you want to pay attention!

What a wonderful teacher! She's super interesting and fun! Tests are super easy, just memorize notes and go over her powerpoints and you are good to go. One paper but you work on it with a group (so pick wisely). Super approachable, made art history so interesting. She will check if you have a textbook which sucks since I hardly used it.

She's very nice. EVERYTHING you need to know for the test is on her website--even slides from class. If you pay attention in class and study like you're supposed to, the class is very easy. She takes roll every day, 1 paper, 3 tests & the final is not cumulative. She shows a lot of movies.

Ms.Karmi is a really great teacher. She's young, engaging, and has a sense of humor! She understands that most of us aren't pursuing a degree in art but is challenging enough to make this class not feel like a complete waste of time. I'd recommend buying the textbook; you don't use it much but it is very helpful in preparing for exams.

Ms. Karmi is great, she tells a few jokes during class to help the class seem more fun. The textbook is not needed, you can get an A by paying attention during class and studying the PowerPoint presentation that she provides online, the textbook is actually useless. The only "hard" part of the class is the group research paper.

This class is not hard at all, if you know that studying is the way to get an A. Powerpoints is on her website, and she made her own study guide. Really no point to say to get a B below on tests, unless you never studied. She's really nice and will answer all your questions. Highly recommended for GE.

I'm an engineer/CS major, and I signed up for this class over the summer without any interest or knowledge beforehand. By the end of the summer quarter, I learned so much about art and felt that the class was rewarding. The professor is very nice and funny, and even though she has an accent, it's easy to understand what she's saying. Easy A.

Pay attention in class and you should at least be able to get a B on the midterm/final. Encourages discussion. Since it's a 4 hour lecture, we get breaks in between. The class is actually pretty fun at times, and the professor is interesting and clearly loves art. She does have an accent, but it's easy to understand.

I love her. She is super nice. Beautiful slides, well prepared and i wanted to take art history because of her. If you are a lover of art. Go and take her class. Easy tests too!

Nice and clear professor! Your grade is depending on your effort. The more effort, an A for sure. Study from the powerpoint and by the way she has changed the tests now so do not expect to study from the previous tests. Interesting class!! Only thing I hate is the materials because it is too much sometimes. And lastly "Don't buy a textbook!!"

Pros: Prompt replies to emails, has powerpoints and exam resources that made midterm and final very easy to get As in. Cons: Boring and long lectures, constantly expects you to discuss about new material with people around during lectures for participation points, and a 4 pg. term paper that requires you to visit a museum in groups of 4

If you like art and are interested in learning art history, she's awesome. She doesn't make you turn in the homework until the end of the quarter and the work is pretty easy if you pay attention in class. She posts her PowerPoint presentations online so studying is easy. She's very passionate and knowledgeable onon at and at history.

She is awesome!!!!! Mrs.Karmi is fun, nice, and knowledgeable. Before entering this class i was a philosophy major thanks to her I'm a art major pursuing a law degree. Please take her she is awsome, funny, and my most favorite teacher!!!! Also grade wise she is easy and its not hard to get an a, I got a c on the mid. With ec I was able to get an A.

I loved taking art history with her! She makes the subject so interesting and this class totally opened up my eyes to how historical and cultural influences impact how people create and express themselves through art. Problem is she goes so in depth for some things we run out of time to cover other really important artists and time periods :(

She gives brakes every hour ( 4 hour class) also you need to study. Great teacher. Cares about the wellness of her students. Her tests are based off of the power points that are provided on the faculty website. She loves students that participate! If you are struggling with ANYTHING, talk to her. She is willing to make changes to perfect her Art 1A class. One paper report and presentation. She gives EXTRA CREDIT!!

Professor Karmi gives a good interpretation of art, which is east to understand for beginners. She is very accommodating to your needs, as long as you have a good reason. She is a little tough, but if you try in her class, you will succeed.

i don't know why her rate is 4.0, she should be 5.0. Her lecture basically is just powerpoint, just write some notes and do some class writing. No homework at all. Everything is done in class. There is a group presentation and really easy. She is such a nice nice lady and I love her class. Easy A!

Her Friday Class (4 Hours) is kinda brutal. I wish I would have done the extra credit because it would have determine a letter grade up for me. Her test is pretty hard - only because most of her quizzes was focus on the artist and an artwork about who it belongs to. The test also is based on the art movement from various times. Kind Lady.

Her Arts 2B was one of the most exciting general education classes I have ever had. Her lectures and the study guide for exams are as clear as it gets. She gives you a list of every thing that you need to know for the exam and uploads all of the lecture slides and pictures on her website which makes it very easy to study for the exam.

She makes the lectures fun and dynamic and keeps the class engaged through open discussion. On her website you can find the terminology list for the exams and the complete lecture powerpoint, important points highlighted. Very easy to follow the lecture and study for exams. One of the most informative and enjoyable classes I had. Highly recommend.

Yael is a kind and understanding teacher. Had her for Arts 1A. Lectures were easy and interesting, and are posted on her website. We get into groups to discuss art and were required to take notes in our journals, which she collects and checks every once in a while. She gives a midterm and a final (both multiple choice), and assigns a museum paper.

I really enjoyed coming to Yael's classes and I liked her energy. There's was no homework for us, instead we had in class assignments (almost) every class . We had two midterms and one final, if you take notes in class and follow her vocabulary lists you'll get an easy A. All her lecture slides/power points are available online from day 1.

I love this teacher. I first took her class ARTS 2A and found that she was very qualified (and friendly) to be teaching art courses. Because I loved this teacher so much, I took her ARTS 1A course. I finished both courses with an A with ease (just show up and participate) even though I was struggling with illness and surgery. She accommodated.

I loved her class! It was not an easy A, however. There were online reading and assignments weekly. She isn't a tough grader so you would need to just be prompt about posting your assignments on time. She gives feedback and her test and Final are fill in the blanks and multiple choice. I definitely recommend her!

All slides presented in class are on her faculty site, which is convenient for preview and review. She is very organized, and all the terms for midterm and final are stated in her site. Really sweet teacher. It is a pretty easy class and I totally recommend taking it during the summer. We did use the textbook but most people found it online or borrowed a neighbors. overall it is a really easy class.

This class wasn't too hard, you don't really need to take notes because her presentations are online, she's a pretty easy going professor. You will need to go to visit a museum and write a short paper on it, but its not too bad. I couldn't stand taking short video notes, but overall a doable class.

Despite the fact that she keeps saying, Ahhhh and you know, the course wasnt too hard. She provide term lists for the exams, just study those and youll be fine. Attendance is mandatory, no homework, she gives out extra credit, in class discussion (almost every class), one term paper and thats it.

The lectures seemed to breeze by with how interesting they were. She would tell personal stories relating to the subjects. Be prepared to collaborate with classmates every day. Notes were optional, but I found the slides were very helpful when studying for the class. Make sure not to procrastinate or wait till last minute on your museum project.

I took her 2 quarters in a row and really enjoyed her class. She's quirky and I love her explanations of the history behind the artwork and why the artist created what they did (which is usually quite scandalous! lol). One student commented on her accent and honestly she's perfectly understandable and that's quite rude and irrelevant in my opinion.

I would say one of the best art teacher on this campus, all you need to do is review the powerpoints and its an easy A on the tests.

I took Professor Yael Karmi for art this quarter. Her class had a lot of online assignments and summaries, and long weekly lectures. Despite these factors, it was still a fun and great experience being in her class since the content was very interesting. She gave a lot of extra credit too, which really helped boost up my grade. Best art teacher!

The class was VERY EASY, also I missed my finals due to personal reasons and she understood and let me take it at a different time. She is very understanding and the class is the easiest A you can get. The homework is all online and the discussions are easy enough for a 1st grader to get an A on.

Maybe opened the textbook once for picture but not necessary. Weekly vocab (mostly found in slides the rest on google) and discussion post. One group project (graded individually) short zoom presentation on a building on her list. You can choose or they place you in a group. Lost 1 point for having too much on slides. Easy midterm and final.

She's overall a great professor. Her class is mostly graded off of weekly discussions and assignments relating to the weekly reading. I opened the textbook maybe like 5 times throughout the quarter. The final and midterm are also very straightforward. Very easy A.

Pretty chill and informative class. Small group assignments at the end of every class based on the weekly topic, so I suggest taking the class with a few friends. Homework is light, so you should be looking at an easy learning experience.

Her lectures are very informative as such, be sure to pay attention, since they contain the same information for the midterm and final. She doesn't go over the whole book as there isn't enough time, so be keen when reading the chapters.There are weekly group assignments and reading questions due so if you can take the class with friends.

All her assignments were just discussions that you'd form with a group. Attendance is "mandatory" to create a group but I just did my work with my friends so I never went to class except for when we had to present the final which was just a group slide presentation. Super easy class but sometimes the homework would be time consuming.

1 midterm, 1 final. Every week there's reading assignments and group discussions, which don't take very long, but you have to respond to your groupmates. Reading assignments are questions based off the reading in the textbook, and the # of questions depend on how well you understand the concepts. Overall not that hard of a class

Took her for Art 1A. Super easy class (asynchronous). Test every week, but they are graded on completion. You will get an A as long as you complete the test. Every week you have to post some sort of weekly response. She emails back pretty quickly if you have any questions, and is very understanding. Overall Good choice. 1 midterm and 1 final.

Prof. Karmi Is an understanding, sweet and amazing teacher. Her lectures were always intriguing and kept my interest. I would 100% take her class over again.

One discussion post and a chapter reading assignment due each week. The ch reading assignment was graded based off of completion, but it wasn't difficult either. You have to reply to two students' discussion post. One midterm and one final that were pretty much the same format. Both were easy. Highly recommend this class if you want an easy "A."

Class done on Canvas and M-H Connect. Weekly homework and discussion, midterm, final exam, and extra credit assignment. Weekly homework based on assigned chapter, can get pretty long, 50+ questions. Discussions require multiple replies, but pretty easy. Midterm and final pretty straightforward, take notes on lectures to study.

The lectures are interesting but can get a little boring at times. Each week you work with a group on an in class assignment and turn it in at the end. Makes you take a photo of your group to submit online for attendance. 1 MC exam online and 1 MC final in person. 1 group presentation. EC available if you go to a museum.

The class is based on an online book about art, which was quite boring in my opinion. 1 assignment (done on the book website) and 1 discussion per week. Reading is required for the assignments but you don't need to read since answers can be found online. 1 midterm and 1 final (both similar to the assignments every week).
