i had her for lab and she was pretty lenient but moody, overall though she explains well and knows her stuff. shes kind of a stickler for white-out...wierd!
chemistry is not an easy subject, she is really good, she explains clear and to the point.
Superb. I hope she keeps teaching. One come's out of her class feeling like he can synthesize a human child. She ain't easy (except on the eyes). Take her only if you're willing to risk a low grade in order to learn the craft of chemical synthesis.
She's great. highly recommend. she knows her stuff takes her time to explain and help you with the experiments. you do need to study and know you're stuff before each class. but she makes the class time fun while you learn
Great teacher!! takes her time to explain and knows her stuff. Need to attend class and hand in all the work and you'll be okay. You will definitly learn alot from her she knows her stuff:)
Pretty easy, do your work and you will pass. You can also go to her for help
Awesome teacher. She knows her chemistry. teaches you clearly until you understand. Her quizes are easy just read the work and go to class. she awesome and takes her time to explain it and make sure you now the stuff. she makes the class fun and interesting. very sweet teacher and professor.
Wonderful experience!!!Professor is very knowledgeable and easy approachable. She would always help her students and would make you feel good in the class.Motivates to study but the process is very rewarding. Please take this professor ,you would have a blast!!!Thank you ,Professor for the wonderful time in your class!!!!!
Very nice lab professor, young and knows her material. She gives weekly quizzes based on the lab you're going to do the following day. They're aren't difficult but just make sure you study, not hardcore but enough. You also have pre lab assignments and post lab as well as data to fill out while you're doing the lab, it's fun and not difficult.
She is incredible. Her class is fun and just the right amount of challenging. She knows her Chemistry and wants you to understand it. If you are a good student you will do well with her. If you aren't then you shouldn't be taking Chemistry. I will be looking for her when I take Organic Chemistry. Also I cannot emphasize enough just how fine she is!
She is a great professor. She expects her students to be on top of their work and always be prepared. She is very helpful during the lab and quizzes you before every lab. Everything you need to know is in your lab manual. You MUST be on time and prepared and you will do well. She wants to see you try and apply yourself, lab reports must be perfect!
Read the lab manuel and do all the pre/post labs. She does quizes before very lab and make sure you wear your lab attire. I learned more chem with her then I did with my lecture teahcer! Highly recomend her but her class is not a joke, you have to work for the your grade!
NOT EASY AT ALL. Anal for every little thing, checks grammar on homework worse than an English class. Moody. Take her if it is the only class you are going to take in the semester but if you need to take other classes, don't even bother with her.
Awesome Professor. She's the best!!
without comment. You need to remember everything about chemistry, or if you have a bachelor in chemistry maybe you get a good grade.
She is a tough professor but you will learn so much when you come out of her class. For those students that expect to get an easy A in her class, think again because she will definitely make you work for your A which will in the long run help you out if you are taking the MCAT or pcat instead of paying a tutor to teach you organic all over again.
Simply amazing, she knows her stuff cold, is always available, a real pleasure to be around, in and out of the lab. The only way to piss her off, is to not care about the class. She is really really good at her job, I would give her an A+. Hope to take her next semester!!!
All I can say is that she is a lovely lady. Caring and always wanting you to do well in class. The only way she is "moody" is when you take her class as a joke or she catches you cheating. Either of those things will make her very upset, other than that she is wonderful. She knows the material very well and is always there to help you.
LOVE HER!!
I took her for both Orgo 1 and 2. her exams are based on what she teaches. She's a great professor and willing to help you when necessary. She is strict when taking exams but she only means well. Best Professor to come into Miami dade College.
WORSE PROFESSOR EVER !!!
She is a wonderful professor. If you do take her class make sure that your high school chemistry or intro to chemistry is strong because she expects you to have covered familiar material in the class. She has high standards but she only means well. Dont take her if you think you will get an "A" without putting any work into the class.
This class is very hard. More than half the class failed. Very negative teacher...she already told us about the withdrawal date and how if we are doing bad to withdrawal the class. Don't take her. P.S YOU HAVE TO MEMORIZE EVERYTHING.
You are mistaken if you think you will do well in her class without having a prior knowledge of chemistry. You should probably get a good chem teacher to teach you intro to chemistry before you go into chm1045 with her. Lots of problems in class and tons of chances for extra credit during exams and even after exams. Best thing to happen to MDC.
Im gonna make this short and sweet; worst professor EVER.
If you value your career and your GPA, Do not take this horrible professor named Yanet Cusido.
This class is very hard. More than half the class failed. Very negative professor
She is a tough cookie but you will learn SO much!! I recommend her if you truly want to learn. If you want an easy A, she is not for you.
I don't know why students say she is hard. Just had first test and it was easy. All the material that she puts on tests is coming from the lectures, slides and homework. If you do your part, you will defintely get an A in her class.
BEST EVER
She's a great professor. She will go over material in detail, and she sends the powerpoints. She gives homework that will help in class, and the tests come from examples gone over class. I fully recommend her. the class is hard but if you pay attention and study on the regular this class won't be so hard.
Best Professor.
She is an amazing teacher. I would have done better if I had her for orgo 1 too. She explains everything better than most teachers even though she had to pick up the slack from other teachers because we didn't know anything going into orgo 2 but she still taught the class and we passed. It wasn't easy no but totally worth it. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
to summarize she is just amazing at what she does. Wish I would have taken other chemistry classes with her.
aesome
to summarize, she is horrible!
Tough for a lab but ull learn
If you study A LOT ! You will get C in her class
She had quizzes in every class. If you skip class you will miss one and since she only drops one lowest grade that'll be... Has Midterm and Final (cumulative) . You really have to study if you are planning getting a B in this class.
two thumbs up
Her tests are tough and the class overall is tough but I love her. You will definitely learn in her class, she acts mean but shes a sweetheart
yeah, she is a tough teacher but you will learn your organic chemistry before you get out of your class because you will have to study. It sucks that my otehrs teachers didnt teach me nothing or what i had to know to be able to do good in her class. she expects you to now all the previous materiel from your other chemistry classes
HORRIBLE !!!!
She's the best took her straight for a year and a half, great teacher and person!!! I'll miss you professor!!
She's fantastic! I only wish I would have discovered her sooner. She will make you earn the A, but you will be glad because you learn the subject very well. Awesome professor, very fair, very lenient when grading, took her for Orgo 1&2. Definitely read the chapters and study a lot! It's not her fault orgo is hard. LOVE HER!
I FINISH WITH B THANKS TO THE TUTORS OF THE LAB.
She is a great professor. I regret dropping her class because I was stresses. I am going to take her in the summer
This is not an easy class: Orgo 2 has too much information! And Professor Cusido will cover everything extremely fast (BUT!) she will perfectly explain you everything you need to know! 4 exams, 1 final, few pop-quizzes, Connect Homework (which, btw replaces one of the lowest grades of any exam), PLTL gives you extra points: just STUDY hard!
The worth part of having this professor is that she lectures really good but it does not matter how hard you study, test are going to be the hardest one you have ever seen. Take her if u are a nature smart human being!!!
Professor Cusido is one of those few amazing Profs who will give you all the knowledge you need to get ready for your pre-med, pre-dat exams: she is clear, fair, and extremely knowledgable. To love Orgo you need this kind of Professor! Big advice: take both Orgos with her - if you had a weak base from Orgo1 - Orgo2 with her will be hard.
The one thing that annoys me is when professor's can't teach. She basically stands there in front of class asking you the name of 30 molecules you have never seen before. She doesn't explain the logic behind it at all. This is a self learn class, your better off staying home, reading the book yourself and working out each problem yourself.
Best Chemistry professor at MDC. She explain everything very clear and knows what she is teaching very well. She explain everything you need to know to do good in the exams and in future chemistry classes. The exams are tough, but if u go to class and study the exams will be clear because she doesn't ask anything that wasn't taught in class.
students complaining here about her have no idea what they are in for when they transfer out of MDC. At least she prepares you for what is to come, if you do not appreciate that or want at taste of what is going to happen to you, find an easier professor that will you that A.
Don't take her if you want an easy A. Homework and study are primordial
this teacher is great at what she does and she will make you work for that A. she doesnt mean bad, she is just looking out for us students when we take other classes in which chemistry is essential. She definityel provides a strong foundation to her students
It's Organic Chemistry. You will have to put work no matter what. She is great at making things clear and helps you understand. Although her tests are tough she gives you all the tools you need to prepare. But it's orgo you will have to study.
she's hot.
She is my fav teacher of all time! Took her for CHM2210, CHM2210L, and CHM2211L. I passed with all A's, but only because I knew the subject well, a lot of other people had difficulties. She is willing to help, and her tests are exactly what you see in class. She makes sure you are well prepared. (Pando is also a good teacher, took him for CHM2211)
Professor Cusido is the best chemistry professor at MDC. Unfortunately I am done with chemistry and I cant take a class with her again. She looks mean but she isn't. She is willing to help you when you need it.
I wish she was single. She is the Most beautiful and sweet woman at MDC.
Best chemistry professor ever!!!!!!
Best chemistry professor ever.!!!! Her lectures are very interesting and clear.
This fall was my last term at MDC and I was definitely lucky in taking orgo 2 with her. When I took orgo 1 I drove 45 mints to north campus because people said she was hard. Well, let me tell you, I ended up without learning how to do retrosynthesis by the end of the term at north. Professor cusido knows how to keep the balance & make you learn
She really knows her stuff, but she is not easy. You really need to work for your grade. You'll definitely have a quiz every class (short answer 10q's, she loves reactions!) A midterm and final (no review) EXPECT TO STUDY REALLY HARD She doesn't play around, you need to be in class on time. Hard class for a lab, but you'll definitely learn!
SO much between the discussions needing citations and quiz/tests. I thought the course was easy but would really study for the midterm and final and still get a horrible grade dont know where she pulled those questions from Got an A on everything but barely passed bc of the midterm/final.
This professor is tough however she just means best for us. I now know how to write a lab report thanks to her. I know that when I transfer to FIU, I will be albe to write a formal lab report for the labs there. She is serious but maybe that's just her personality but overal, shes a good professor.
Professor Cusido is very dedicated and fair. She responds to e-mails quickly and gives two very important extra credits after the midterm and final exams. It is upon you to take it, but is will improve your grade significantly. There was a lot of work to do, but I learned many things I did not know before.
Horrible professor. I will never take her again
tough but good
Excellent professor, I feel she prepared me well for Orgo 2 which I'm taking now at a very good university. Work hard and it will pay off at the end
OMG she is not an easy A. You will learn though but you have to really be on top of everything to understand the material.
She is difficult but she's good. You have to be on top of your work to be able to understand the material.
She is a very good professor but it is going to be a hard class if you do not have a solid base in chemistry! She explains very well but even though you have to be on top of the material, you have to do online homework. You also going to have 4 tests + final. It is a really hard class
An extremely nice and understanding professor. Even though she let's you know the due dates from the start, she goes out of her way to remind you when things are due. Proctored midterm and final, 4 discussions and the class mostly consists of quizzes. It's an easy A as long as you study!
Get ready to play a guessing game. She literally expects your lab reports to be perfectand if one thing isn't how it's supposed to be, she takes points off. Literally one of the most pickiest graders I've ever taken a class with, and it's a lab.
I took organic 1 with her and she was so passionate about explaining the subject that I actually would be motivated to read which is rare. She is a great person, funny but also knows how to teach very well. I strongly recommend taking her!
Dr. Cusido, is an amazing professor. But if you do not study, review your notes or slides you wont pass. She has 4 tests, and a final. Everything she teaches is exactly what's on the test. If you're absent a lot, just drop the course. She is very organized and motivates you to learn. She is nice but a tough grader. As well as in her labs.
Horrible professor.
Best Organic Chemistry Professor in MDC. If you want to actually learn the material take Orgo with her, if you want an easy teacher where you won't learn anything go else where. Very passionate professor, will teach you until you understand it. Take advantage of her office hours. For anyone that NEEDS Orgo for graduate school, TAKE ORGO WITH HER!
She is a great professor. She cares about her students and gives you plenty of opportunity to get a good grade, if she sees that you are making an effort. You need to go to class to understand the material. She goes to great lengths to help you understand the material. She's available all the time through email and office hours. Best professor.
she is the bests. Take her you won't regret
She's awesome! this class was more interesting that I thought. I strongly recommend that you read the ppt and watch the videos (there are many questions about the videos). She is also very understanding if you have a problem and you couldn't take a quiz on time. There are 4 discussions and you may have to give your point of view, but it's not hard.
super easy credit. no text book necessary. take her class!
Dr. Cusido is a really tough professor. She will make you worth and go the extra mile for your grade. Quizzes every week, discussions for every experiment, a midterm and a final. PICKIEST PROFESSOR EVER. She will take off points just because. NOT AN EASY A. If you are willing to work hard and truly want to learn CHM take her otherwise don't.
Toughest professor I have come across Miami Dade community college but have learned the most in her classes
Shes a great inspiration to students
Well lets start saying that I was afraid taking her bc people said she was tough however now after being almost done with her class shes not THAT bad. Her exams are from lecture and handouts posted on Blackboard and she had an online test which made me go one letter grade up in her class. her final is from previous exams. Hard but doable
In few words "Amazing."
She is hands down the best organic chem professor in Miami Dade. Anyone who wants a solid foundation should take her. This class is not easy, no matter what professor you take it with. Anyone who says different doesn't know what they're talking about. But when youre done with her class I promise youll be well prepared and ready for organic II.
Be ready to work hard for that A. Don't take her if you don't care much about chemistry
Professor cusido is a very tough professor very prepared for her classes although I wouldnt recommend to take her if you havent got all chemistry classes with her!
She is not an easy professor at all. Do not take her if you are looking for an easy A or B. Orgo 2 is hard and more so w her if you have a weak background from Orgo 1.
took her online environmental class and it was interesting. 2 proctored exams, make sure you study or it will affect your grade. she gives extra credit which is needed so do it. I'd recommend her!
Professor is amazing at what she does. this class was intro to chemistry and boy was it hard but good thing is that when now i go to gen chem 1 i will know the material thanks to her. Keep it up professor!
She is the hardest professor Ive ever had, explains really good but if you care about your GPA DONT TAKE HER!!! because her test are hard and shes a thought grader too
amazing at what she does
First, Organic chemistry is not an easy subject, you have to study a lot, so, be prepared. She gives 5 test, drop the lowest score, a few extra credits, WRITE DOWN EVERYTHING SHE SAYS in class, do the question in black board y you will be fine
As a professor, shes okay. 4 exams and a final. Homework as well. Exams are short response type. She drops an exam. Her exams are tough and shes an even harder grader. If you care about your gpa, I suggest taking someone else.
Best teacher ever!!!!!
Professor Cusido was hands down the best teacher I have ever encountered at my time at Miami Dade College. Very much well respectful of her students, and is willing to go the extra mile to help her students. It also helps that shes pretty and really nice in my opinion.
This professor has no methodology when it comes to instructing students. Early in the morning lab and your professor has a really bad attitude towards her students which are paying a tuition to be treated poorly. I dont think so. I wish i could have taken another person for organic chemistry. Im scared to ask her something during lab at thispoint
Best professor I have taken for both lecture and lab
the best professor I have met in my life. Such a great person. lectures are so easy to understand. I took Orgo1 and Orgo 2 with her along with labs. The best decision in my life. Pay attention during her lectures and study notes. Tests are not easy, but if you study you will pass with a good grade.
I do not like her teaching style and she can be rude at times.
I took this class online and it was pretty easy. You have to prepare for the midterm and final to pass, if you do that and complete all the work throughout the term you'll be fine. She doesn't answer emails right away but she will answer. If I had to take this class again I'd get her.
Do yourself a favor and DO NOT take her unless you are a chemist or have a masters degree in chemistry. She expects you to know it all like she does because she has a masters in chemistry.
She was very organized, nice and the class was just amazing.
Yanet Cusido is that type of professor that makes you not want to ask questions in class, she is very passive aggressive. She knows her stuff but she expects you to know to her certain extent and mind you shes been studying this half her whole life.
Shes the best at what she does. I dont know what this student is talking about. Students that fail are the ones that post here always. Biased opinions on here always.
Typical online class! Not hard / Not easy. Quiz for each chapter and a Discussion for each model. No study guide for the midterm or final which was a bit of a pain but as long as you do all of your quizzes you should be fine. Teacher was available when needed and always sent out reminders for work due.
Very tough professor! Definitely not an easy A she makes her class very hard to prepare you for organic 2 and your transfer school. Tests were the hardest thing Ive ever done in my life. She did give our class a lot of extra credit cuz she knows how hard her class is.
There is no magical way to get an A in any class, but to do the work and try your best.I was pleased with Prof Cusido, she is straight to the point, gives extra credits in her lecture and lab classes, and really wants you to learn it. She doesn't need to sugar coat anything bc it's all there for you- just study and take her advice.
This professor is very unavailable. She responds to emails weeks later and you are very much on your own once the syllabus has been issued and the course has begun. Her study guides are poor and I got more help from using online apps like Quizlet and Chegg, where other professors teaching this course were more available to teach me.
Cusido is an excellent teacher! Organic chemistry can be a difficult subject so lots of practice is helpful. Her test is similar to what she teaches in class and homework problems. She gives partial credit for even attempting to do a problem.
At the beginning it may look way too hard, but she drops the lowest test, just pay attention to class because what she teaches is pure gold.
She is very tough grader and takes off points for minor things. The exams are very difficult, even if you read the book and do all practice questions. However, she explains things clearly and is very approachable. Just dont expect an easy A.
Amazing lecturer, tough without being rude, & organized. Lots of extras to help you study on blackboard, lecture notes. Study like crazy, but this is organic chemistry you should already be used to that. You can tell she took the time to prepare for her lecture to build your knowledge. If you want to learn and be the best in your career take her.
I took this as a virtual class and would recommend to anyone. She will remind you when an assignment is due via email, her assignments are related to the readings and aren't difficult if you read. If you do the assignments and study the quizzes, you will pass the midterm and final. If you ask a question, she responds within two days.
Great teacher, she may look tough but you will really learn with her, love her, I have taken 2 classes with her so far.
Her classes are not that bad, but if you rate her class quality at 1 on a difficulty level on a scale of 1 to 10, the test will be at 10 or 20, is not right. She wants too much and gives too little. There is a little bit of extra credit, and her tests are not multiple choice. But more the anything, the difference between class level and exam is too
Her classes are good, the problem is that her tests are harder than what she gave in class. There is few examples in class easier than the ones in the test. There is not homework and a few extra credit. If you want a good grade dont take her.
This professor knows the content, but this class is mainly for students that dont have to work full time. It will require many many hours of self studying in order to pass the class. This professor makes the class way harder than what it should be.
Yes she is tough and has high expectations but what else would you expect from an organic class? Its always been the hardest class for medical school so I think shes trying her best. I failed it once at FIU and have faith I will pass to get it over with.
Very cold and unapproachable professor. Her tests are way harder than what she teaches in class and gives as practice problems. I'm currently writing this after dropping the class because i'm not going to let my gpa tank. If chemistry is a hard subject for you, trust me to not take her.
Dont take care if you do not remember your gen. chemistry. orgo is hard and if you have no time to study for the course like she says you should then forget about it
Professor knows the material best than anyone and her expectations are high however I just couldnt keep up w her this semester due to my full time job. Ill take her again in the future when my work load is lighter. I recommend her to those that have tons of time to study bc the material is not easy.
Great teacher, a little tough? maybe, but you will learn for sure, I took her for introductory chemistry and good thing I did because my current professor only reads power point as a parrot, make some time for her class though
When you ask a question in class sometimes she responds with attitude. Shes kind of cold and the tests are hard. I had to study a whole week for an examen that I didn't even have time for my other classes. I have to admit that she is really good explaining and she knows the subject, but it's really hard to pass with an A
She teaches in the best of her ability and she is AMAZING. She does not ask anything she would not explain before in class. She will also let you know what she would prefiere in the test. She analyzes a lot of very useful examples during class also. She is great!!!!
She is moody but knows her stuff. She lectures really heavy and goes over the material to fast. I have to study all day & night to be able to pass. She available during office hours but shes really cold and expects you to know. As a last resort she will teach you well but expect to work full time for it! she over prepares you so its tough.
Dr. Cusido was awesome, she taught the lab very patiently and was clear on what she wanted as far as reports go. She allowes you to redo the first lab report so you dont make the same mistakes over and over again. She does expect foryou to know techniques from orgo 1 lab but that can be looked up online. I defintely recommend her.
I dont understand why some comments here are saying shes moody and cold. Shes not one to hold your hand in college and if she had to then you shouldnt be in college
As someone who passed her orgo 1 with an A and is currently taking her for orgo 2, I can honestly say that orgo is not easy. It's not because of her but because the content can be complex at times. Here are some tips on passing. 1. asking a lot of questions and show up to her office hours. 2. study all the suggested problem (do them twice!).
please I'm not playing around if you are trying to pass orgo2 DO NOT I REPEAT TAKE THIS PROFFESOR!!!! SHE Seems nice at first talks about extra credit acts like your friend once the withdraw date is over she does a complete turn around. ONLY CARES ABOUT THE MOST EXCELLING STUDENTS IN THE CLASS! SHE SEES YOU STRUGLLING SHE DOESNT CARE! TEST ARE HARD
due to this whole corona virus pandemic, Dr. Cusido has been more than understanding with the class. she has sent emails and is accessible outside our schedule hours to help me. I hope I am able to pass the class with a good grade. At first i was intimidated by her but now i see that she has to be that way for students to not take advantage
I really enjoyed her class and her teaching style as it made it easier to understand a difficult subject.
Professor Cusido is not an easy A, you have to work for it if you want to achieve that grade, but she gives a lot of extra credit. The material for Orgo 2 is complex but still she explain it amazingly well, she make it look easier. You will for sure leave her class knowing Orgo 2.
Dr. Cusido knows her material and her style of teaching helped me a lot. Organic Chemistry is NOT easy, it's the nature of the beast; but Dr. Cusido is a great teacher and through her lectures helped me learn the material to pass. I will be taking her again for Orgo 2. She assigns a lot of homework, do it! You need to practice a lot in this class.
Shee's just the best period. Dont take her if you dont want to learn, easy as that
This professor has gone far beyond worrying about if her students are cheating than actually caring if they learn or not. Im not saying shes a bad professor, but she will even make you uncomfortable if you contradict what she says.
Horrible do not take her if you plan to cheat. Even if you aren't and study good look Charlie I regret not listening to rate my professor reviews. she made us take two consecutive test on FINALS WEEK insane. Most stem professors have bad reviews due to lazy students but this one? this one is accurate. She thinks her students aren't poor. high tech
Cursido's teaching methods are not for everyone. You better know every single reagent and mechanism back and forth if you want to get a full grade. Do not take her if Chm is not your major, she makes orgo even harder than it already is. Think about your GPA. (none of her tests, quizzes, questions are online)
She has high expectations and she does want you to know all reagents but that is part of Orgo chemistry. Do not take her if you are planning to cheat or slack your way off in her course. Cannot study last day the day before to pass her exams. It didnt work for me
I took Dr. Cusido for Orgo I when the whole pandemic first occurred and then now for Orgo II in Fall 2020. She prepared us for Orgo II and even though the subject matter is always going to be hard no matter what, her passion and knowledge in chemistry helps make the material way easier to digest. She was caring and helped us achieve a good grade.
She is such a good professor, but expects A LOT from us. Make sure to go over her lectures cause many of the problems on the exam she covers in class. Most of the test is free response. Every exam has extra credit, take advantage from that (YOU WILL NEED ALL LITTLE POINTS). For an A: Attend to class, participate, write down exemples, study hard fr
Do NOT take Orgo 2 with her unless you have an IMPECCABLE mastery of Organic Chemistry I and its lab. This professor expects you to fully remember absolutely everything about Orgo 1. Even her lab assignments for Orgo 2 will test your knowledge of Orgo 1. Professor does not appreciate the reality that other Orgo 1 teachers weren't as intense as her
Organic 2 is a subject that needs knowledge of what you learn in orgo 1, if you have a horrible professor for orgo 1, do not take her bc as many comments here say, she does expect you know your stuff before you take her class. Stick to the same professor you took orgo 1 with or someone that will not require you to know anything from orgo 1.
She is good online however I cannot wait until we all go back face to face. I have a feeling that interacting with this professor in person would have made the class a little bit easier
This professor is completely out of sync with her students. For example, she will only teach basic mechanisms in lectures, then test you on complex multi-step synthesis that even involve Orgo 1 reagents she never told you to study. She will also lie at the beginning of semester that she will drop lowest exam, then change her mind at the end. Run
This professor expects you to fully remember absolutely everything about Orgo 1. Dont take her if you do not have a good backbground from orgo i. Do not plan to cheat, she caught me cheating wiht respondus monitor
she pretends to be chill and fair but the reality is that her expectations are insane. expect sudden unfair and undemocratic changes to the syllabus as well as tests that are 100 times harder than anything she teaches.
Dont take her if you do not have a good backbground from orgo i. This professor expects you to fully remember absolutely everything about Orgo 1.
I took this class during COVID-19. She did an excellent job of accommodating us during this time. We had 7 lab reports and a final. I found 2 of the labs to be difficult and the final was easy. The only way you don't get an A is if you don't show up or don't fill out the reports correctly.
Dr. Cusido fell way behind schedule and decided that cramming half of a semester's content into the last 2 weeks of school (even posting mandatory videos to artificially inflate lecture time) is ok Oh also she takes eons to grade assignments. Trust me, you'll have 0 clue about where you stand in this class until the last week. Do not risk your gpa
Ehh okay I guess
Professor Cusido explains everything to the point. She made everything understandable. Was accessible during and outside her office hours for any questions and doubts, really cares. The class is hard as it is, requires you to study if you really wanna learn regardless of the professor. She's a tough grader, but she's one of the best org professors!
Professor was great at emailing to let us know when assignments were due, clearly structured class. Final and midterm have a lot on content, you have to study to pass them.
MOST stressful class ever. It was a FULL-TIME job. Some crazy things she did: Promised to drop lowest test, but instead, switched it with an extra credit TEST. Posted several hour-long videos to watch on top of lectures. Expected you to master crazy synthesis she never helps teach. Ochem2 is already a hard class. This prof only made it harder.
wrecked my GPA unlike any other class. and I got A's in intro and gen chem
Love her. Shes a excellent at what she does.
Shes very good. Wont regret it
Really good professor, I enjoyed my time w her. test heavy but fair.
SHe is a good Professor, I do not know why have so bad reviews. Super excellent and if you need help; she will help you.
It was a super easy class, she left the videos with the contents well explained, if we had any questions she answered by mail or in the classes she clarified all the doubts we had. There were 4 exams and the final was optional. An easy A. I recommend her.
IF YOU ARE NOT ALREADY SUPER GOOD AT CHEM AVOID.
Very understanding and kind professor. Explains things well. Expects a little too much out of you to be honest. Gives very long problem solving reactions and no time to do them. EXPECTS a GREAT background of Orgo I. Pretty much destroyed my chances of going to Dental school.
She barely responds at all, doesnt teach the material either. Just uploads the homework and tests/quizzes with no explanation on the material and will tell you to refer to the textbook if help is needed. Proctored midterm and proctored final is the same exact material as the chapter quizzes. Wouldnt recommend.
very thoughtful teacher who puts a lot of thought into how she presents the material. Her lessons were engaging, useful, and she was very patient with everyone in class always encouraging her students to try. I would highly recommend her to anyone interested in learning
She is always in a bad mood and will snap on you for the slightest thing, YOU CANNOT ask any questions that are not about the immediate problem. The Lectures and HW do not prepare you for tests at all, I passed by watching youtube. She will not input a single grade till the night of your final. Some profes want you too pass, she doesnt
Amazing and understanding. Reachable through remind app at all hours
yeah this class is not meant for you to cheat even if it is online. you will spend time studying to actually learn the stuff. not easy to get by with just powerpoints, needs time from student which i dont have since i am taking other classes
She's a great professor, knows her stuff & great at explaining, but a really tough grader! Our 3rd test was nothing like the first 2 in terms of content, & more than 1/2 the class got F. If u work, do NOT take her. If u HATE chem DO NOT take her. Not an easy class @ all. Also our HW long response wasnt graded til end of semester. affected greatly
this professor had review sessions before every exam and trust me some of the problems done there wouold show up on her exams. not every professor tells y9ou what mechanismsls go into every teest and she does. is she easy? no she is not, she has expections that you know everything from orgo 1 to survive in her class
The assignments are really helpful if you do them on your own and learn from those mistakes cause you would see them on the exam. She doesn't grade on time so you would probably not know how you are doing in class until the end of the semester. And she doesn't reply to emails like that.
an amazing professor. If you ever get lost or confused, she is the type of professor who is willing to spend time with you until you get it. Don't be shy to ask questions, she is always open to answering them. Was accessibel for fall semster via remind app and phone number. dont be shy to text her or use the app. highly recomend her
She is a good and easy to understand professor. You have a test every 2 or 3 units, and the final exam. Everything is proctored. The bad part is that she is behind in the content, and at the end of the semester she wants to give you 3 chapters in a week and then the final test with all the content of the course.
Just avoid to take this professor for any chemistry class. You just have to study beyond the capacity of your mind and she teach us like the speed of light It is an easy F!
Class is pretty easy. There are 4 modules with homework assignments. She doesn't give second chances on the due dates which is fine because you have more than enough time to do the assignments. There's 4 module test which are really easy. As well as 4 group discussions. Memorize test and you pass the mid term and finals.
very good at what she does despite what everyone says on here
If you pay attention in class, take notes and participate, you will pass with a good grade. She is very patient and will repeat herself as many times as necessary. She does study sessions prior to the exams and some of her practice exercises, will be on the exam. I hated chemistry, until I had her class, I'm taking her again for Orgo 1 :)
Professor Cusido has been the worst teacher I have ever met Miami Dade. This teacher is not interested in her students, her exams are super difficult, and an important fact this teacher is super lazy, you will have to wait until the end of the semester to know how you are doing in class, she is sucks
Extremely cold with her students, overall this professor is the worst, please do not take cusido as your chemistry professor if you are interested in this subject, she may have a Ph.D., but she doesn't know or have an idea of how to teach avoid this professor right away...... Worst professor at Mdc.
Does not teach from anything other than the practice problems in her book. horrible at planning exams, has no schedules, takes forever to release grades, does not let you see your exam (shows you problems like the ones you got wrong instead.
This professor doesn't care about you, your grade or the effort you put in the assignments. I don't recommend her for any class but if have English as your second language, I would think as many times as it will be necessary to take her. She will make you feel that what your are doing is the worst thing that can be done. Worst experience ever.
This processor have high standards. Wants you to woks hard fo learn material for future courses. Not ideal if you only have to take only one Chem class for major
pofessor is not as bad as you seen on this comments. She might seem intimidating at first but go to her office hoursand she extremely helkpful. I went to her office hours and do problems on her office board. I cant wait to take orgo wit her
This is the worst professor I have ever had at MDC in my life. If you have the chance to do it with another teacher, do it. Do not take classes with her, she is a very bad professor and also as a person. If you do something that she doesn't like, she looks at you with a bad face.
as long as you read the background information for experiments or have access to prrevioius quizzes you will be good as she recycles them semster after semster. Just ask around other students or go on chegg
Professor Cusido is pretty cool if you get used to her system. When you enter the class, it seems like she gives an overwhelming amount of work, but if you break it all down into their own elements its really easy stuff. Experiments are fun and engaging and make you feel more interested in the subject than you would naturally. Would take again.
Professor Cusido is a great chemistry teacher, at first she may seem tough but she is actually pretty cool. She left several chapter quizzes that were done easily as well as the homeworks. If you want to prepare yourself for your upcoming chemistry courses I firmly believe she is a good option to take this class with.
From the first moment I entered her class, she looked at me badly for being only 6 minutes late. Demands too much and is not willing to help you. Does quizzes at the beginning of each class (not multiple choice) and they are quite complicated, especially if you are not good at chemistry. If you have a choice, take another professor
She is one of the best professors I've had so far. Gives really good lectures, explains everything well. Her exams are based on the lectures. She does quizzes at the beggining of the class on basic things you should know to be prepared for the lab exp, those ones are easy and based on the textbook. I took 1025, 1045L and I'll take 1046L with her.
Nice professor that's easy to talk to and cares about a student's success. She made difficult content easy to understand.
She is very knowledgeable and fair. Don't expect to get good grades without studying hard. Her tests are heavy, but you can do well if you follow the class notes and do the homework. She really prepares you for further chemistry courses.
This professor is fantastic!! She teaches a lot of content, but her ultimate goal is to prepare her students for Chemistry. In addition, she explains everything in the lecture and gives many problem examples. Her tests are difficult but doable if you study the class notes and do the textbook problems. I cannot recommend anyone other than her.
This profe is just amazing. yes, she does want you to know the reactions and the chemicals for each one but she means good cause you will need it for orgo 2.
I took orgo 1 and now orgo with her and at the same time I am studying for the DAT exam. Best preparation from her to succeed the organic part of the exam.
Gen chem 1 is very similar to intro to chem and i took that class with her so for me it was not that much different except thermochemistry and the quantum part for the semester. we were able to get up to gases that teachers do not cover. I will take her for orgo if she is still around at mdc
Good professor if you want to learn chemistry. You have to study and put much effort getting that A. Excellent recommendation letter but do not ask last minute, gives extra credit opportunities in her exams. She might look scary but she is a wonderful person, don't be afraid to reach out to her. Go to her office hours if you have any questions.
She is very knowledgeable about the subject. I have to be honest, the summer semester was very rushed and things have to be crammed. She tried her best to teach the material and still have exams for a grade. I wish I had taken the course in a regular semester, I would have enjoyed it more and had more time to study.
This was the best chemistry professor I could have asked for I took orgo 1 and 2 with her and every chapter was clearly explained. Her exams are hard but if you actually pay attention and study (mainly from the book problems) you are sure to get an A. She provides the students with a lot of resources and is willing to help in her office hours.
Professor Cusido's class is challenging, but her dedication to preparing students is evident. The lectures are dense, but engaging with the textbook and attending office hours pays off. unstuckstudy was a lifesaver for studying and practice.
she goes over the topics quickly and is hard to follow.
Awesome professor. She is great at what she does and it shows in her passion for the subject. i am taking chm1045 with her in spring
Her lab reports are in partners so you can do well. Her midterms and final exams ain't that bad if you study prelab questions from lab manual. Final was not cumulative so that was good or I would have done not so good.
The only ones in here saying she's great are the honors students, since they get a different treatment. I did a lab with her, and it was mostly full of honors students, she went to each one of their tables helping them and answering their questions, but then my team asked her something and she acted annoyed, didn't want to help us and was very rude
DO NOT TAKE
shes okay. go to her office for questions. shes usually there with the same students asking questions
She demands perfection but refuses to offer guidance. This class felt like a trap rather than a learning opportunity.
easiest science class to take
I have taken courses from CHM1045 and its lab to Orgo 2 and its lab with her. I have always taken non-honors classes with her, and I can't express how much I have learned from them. She is always willing to help, and she always gives you partial credit in exams as long as you don't leave questions blank. Thanks to her I changed my major to chem.
Best Professor I have ever had. She makes chemistry so hard but at the same time so easy and so worth it. Take it with her if you really want to learn, especially organic chemistry. I wanted to take Organic Chemistry 2 with her and MDC cancelled the class and it was the worst thing that has happened to me because now I wont be able to do it.
Dr Cusido is one of the best chemistry professors I've had. She seems tough on the surface but she's a fair grader and knowledgeable about the subject. The exams are exactly like the lectures so if you pay attention and take good notes, that's all you'll have to study to pass; the book is merely a supplement. Participation is highly encouraged.
If you are passionate about Science this IS the professor. She is clear with the topics, she leaves videos when a class is canceled and the quizzes help with getting prepared for tests. 4 tests btw. The grade of the final would replace one of those 4 grades, you can skip it if you do fine.
The best chemistry professor at MDC. Be prepared to learn as her class is no easy A but if you study a lot you will be fine. She is extremely knowledgeable and very passionate about chemistry. You will learn a lot in her class.
