Extremely large language barrier prevents learning philosophies in Calc. Had her for two classes and couldnt get higher than D's. She does mean well
easy class, if you get help from her you will do well.
Definately a big language barrier, which she is obviously aware of. She gives out a lot of homework, but this seems to work as I am on course for an "A". Very likeable and approachable. be patient with the language thing and you will do well.
I recco any other professor but her. You will fail, there is a language barrier. She does not know how to communicate effectivly to her students.
Hard to understand, easy class, you're dumb if you got below a C. Very helpful if you see her during office hours.
She is a sweet lady, but language definately is a big barrier. You either have to pay extremely close attention to her or do a lot of work on your own. She is easily approachable and answers questions.

Very good teacher. Sweet lady. Fair grading policies. Accent is not as bad as other people are making it out to be. You do have to be an idiot to fail her class. She did prepare me very well for future classes.

Do not waste your money or your time. Clear far away from Dr. Yang: she is a cold hard control **** who can barely speak English. She is more concerned with control of the classroom then she is of teaching. I withdrew from the college; it is really like 13th grade. It is a two year college that wishes acceptance as a 4 yr. college.
Contrary to what some have said here... I was able to understand her just fine. She was very friendly, and very knowlegable about what she was teaching. Classes moved very fast however and sometimes it is hard to keep up, but you cant blame that on her.

Extremely hard to understand, cold hearted, gives absolutely no extensions to anything, lots of hw, shows positive attention to only her favorites, teaches with barely any examples and expects us to understand all the details of the section, etc. Overall my worst teacher by far. If she ends up on your program, drop or switch it before its too late

terrible don't take her no matter what, i don't care if you'll have 3 days off, don't do it....and that one person who gave her a smiley face didn't go to the class obviously trust me
She was a pretty nice lady but not a good professor. But before every test she gives you a review sheet of the questions on the test. Just ask a lot of questions and do the homework and if you're lucky you'll get a B-

Awesome professor but very hard to understand! She loves providing math theories so the students can understand. She writes and teaches very clean. But she cannot explain 90% of things correctly. She does help you if you ask her and she will always accommodate you for any help or missed assignment or test. She always reviews her hw and for tests.

i would suggest to avoid her if you could, REALLY. she knows pretty well math thats why she has a Dr. degree. BUT she is a badddd professor, because she is great at math, doesnt necessary mean she can be a as good as what she majored on. I wouldnt recommend her to anyone. not everyone great at in a particular field can be a college professor.
Avoid her. Her accent isn't that bad but her teaching is. She knows her math but doesn't teach it very well. You will be lost pretty fast and the textbook is useless. Her tests are extremely difficult. Strict grader with homework assignments.
her class wasn't that hard. She lets you use an index card as a "cheat-cheat" on her tests (one side of the index card). Her tests were ok, not horrible if you pay attention and do the hw. She uses web-assign so it helps when it comes to tests. overall not a bad teacher her accent can be a little difficult to understand at the beginning.
I view Dr. Yajun Yang with the utmost respect. I went to her office hours to better understand the material and along with providing me clarity we also spoke about her amazing story. Her passion for math spills over into her teaching which inspired me tremendously. Come to class ready to learn, study her notes, and you'll get an A.
Prof Yang is an amazing teacher. Knows the subject very well and will take the time to make sure everyone understands. Such a sweetheart. Love her reviews. She understands that a lot of students forget what they learned from previous math classes so she will go back over it as a refresher.
Would rather take a W than an F. If shes the only section available, take calc 1 next semester. DO NOT TAKE.

She's a great teacher. She is very knowledgeable of the subject she teaches and can teach but you are required to really be into it, don't miss class do all her assignments and pay attention and you'll do good, there is a lot of work but you'll learn if you put effort into it definitely not an easy course but she's good.
I'm traditionally not good at math and I love Yang. I've had to put a ton of time into building up my algebra foundations but once I did I found the class to be fair. She expects you to put in work but gives 10 pts extra credit each test. Answers email quickly, sweet, very willing to help. Show her you care. Can be done with ACTUAL solid effort.

Great professor. Very passionate about Math and knows all the tricks. She gives extra credit for every exam, even on the final so definitely take advantage. Just show up to every class and participate, you will pass.
She is very good at explaining things, as long as you actually pay attention. Do the homeworks, they really help. She offers extra credit for every test and usually the test questions are really similar so it helps. Very willing to help, you just need to ask.

I am already regretting taking Yajun Yang . Barely teaches so I have to self teach and there are soooooo many online assignments. I have other classes, you know? "Calculus is hard" isn't a valid reason for giving me 17 online assignments (graded) in a week, but then barely teaching the material. I'll probably end up with a W or F. Thanks a lot....
I am writing this 1 week prior to my finals. I have done everything possible starting from math centre youtube chegg, the amount of home work she assigns of web assign every fudging day in ridiculous inhuman. taking her classs was the biggest mistake ever for this semester. No one deserves to be in such pain and depression for such class. stay away
I have never taken a class where I struggled this bad. I went tutoring center, bought chegg, mathway, and spend more than 5 hours at tutoring center everyday. this class gave me depression and she was never helpful. She does not respect her 130 students and does not care if you are struggling. This class was my biggest mistake and messed up my gpa.

Yang should not be teaching Calc130 she is disrespectful, rude and have no sympathy for her students. Dont ignore the bad reviews. You dont learn anything in class and basically learn everything at tutoring center. Its not funny that students have to go through depression and pain for a class. It is painful that we had to go through this torture

I wish I was able to get her a zero as a rating. I hardly ever rate a professor because they have their struggles but honestly I can't comprehend how she even is a professor. She hasn't taught once since I was a student in her class, aside from the syllabus. Everything is orientated around homework, and beware, THERE WILL BE A LOT OF HOMEWORK!
Ive taken Calc in high school and the stuff you learn from your high school teachers wont fly by this Professor. You are forced to learn her way and in order to get full credit on WA you have to state EVERY SINGLE thing about the problem or you wont get any points! She is a great professor, but you may find you will have to teach yourself.
The absolute WORST professor i have ever had. The majority of my class dropped out, and i don't blame them. Soo much graded homework, she has a nasty attitude if you ask questions. She fought with students in class on more than one occasion. She doesn't grade fairly either, so good luck passing. Profs who dont want students to pass shouldn't teach.
What an absolute nightmare of a professor. From start to finish she was extremely nit-picky about how she wants her assignments done, and if you so much as staple it the wrong way, you get 0 credit. I learned ABSOLUTELY nothing in this course and was met with extreme rudeness and just completely unprofessional and unhelpful behavior.

Dropped before we even had our first class. Semester started Friday, Jan 29. The first class is Monday. We have 3 full length , 12 question +, calc homeworks due on Sunday. 3 more due Monday, 3 more due Tuesday, and 2 due Wednesday. I have a job, I have bills to pay, I have responsibilities I need to attend to and I have 4 other classes. Insane
WORST PROFESSOR EVER!!!! absolutely terrible .... she refuses to answer any of her students questions. Her exams are extremely hard. no partial credit given. she expects you to answer the question the way she teaches otherwise its wrong. DOES NOT EVEN SHOW YOU HOW TO DO PROBLEM ON PAPER EVERYTHING IS VERBAL !! dont ever take this professor BEWARE
DO NOT TAKE A CLASS WITH THIS PROFESSOR. The amount of homework she gives is absurd and downright evil. Expect anywhere from 3-7 HW assignments due every other day. It's way too stressful and there is absolutely no partial credit. It really feels like she is setting you up for failure. Dropout before it's too late, otherwise, AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

She always gives us bad grades on our discussion answers even when we try our best. I just don't understand how professors like this exist.
One of the WORST Professors I've ever had. You are on your own as she doesn't teach anything and gets frustrated if you ask questions in class. Uploads an excessive amount of homework and won't give any reminders when she uploads the homework or when it's due. She expects you to know everything and not ask questions. ABSOLUTE WORST !!!
Terrible professor. Not enough examples, often ignores student questions, mocks you for answering incorrectly, no extra credit, no partial credit, no makeups, too much homework, exam review not helpful, does not reflect the actual exam. Do not take this professor, you will be wasting your time and tuition if you're already bad at math. Good luck.
Arguably the WORST MATH PROFESSOR I'VE HAD IN MY LIFE. I have never struggled so much with a math class and it ruined my gpa. The workload was unbearable and she offered no help and showed no remorse. She doesn't even help when you ask questions and she has a terrible attitude. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PROFESSOR. She honestly sets you up to fail.
I am not sure how to begin. How you teach a math class online and don't post a signal video of yourself teaching is beyond me. Email her one time and she refuses to answer until her office hours and her response is to set up office hours. Her notes are just the textbook definition. No teaching whatsoever. A joke to employ her.

For an online class this professor will have a set time frame to which it will not work for you if you work a full time job. No flexibility whatsoever. STAY AWAY!!!!

I knew there was gonna be a lot of work so I'm not gonna complain about that but I genuinely believe she wants students to fail. The lectures and notes she puts up had almost no helpful info. Her grading system is also very suspect, and of course she had to include an annoying discussion post and respond to student's posts. Easier to teach yourself
literally took her only cuz It was online, but id rather do an online one. Sis doesn't mix hw grades with the regular grades. Tests are like ez it's only 6-8 questions online, hw can be ALOT ngl. It's annoying with discussions cuz I dont think she gives a full grade if you dont post or respond back to anyone. so annoying.
Honestly I wish she got more credit because she is amazing! She was always there when I needed help, very kind and sweet, and was very clear on what material would be on the tests. She was very fair with her grading and is ready to work with the class. Yes, there was a lot of homework, but otherwise I wish there were more professors like her!
Do NOT take this professor, NO MATTER WHAT. If she is the only option left, take the class another semester, you are asking to fail a class if you take her. This professor does not care about her students, you can't understand her and you won't get clear responses to your questions.

Very fast paced, no partial credit on homework, only 3 tests all semester. No extra credit and no excuses no wiggle room and she doesn't care. I would not take her again
Only take this class if you are good at math or calculus. This professor, although a sweet lady, is an EXTREMELY tough grader. The professor takes points off the most minuscule mistakes. P.S. You don't get to keep your tests. Lots of hw/your grade depends on your tests alone. Her notes are all from the textbook. You're better off teaching yourself.
I would avoid taking this professor. She's very nice and she knows what she's doing but she doesn't explain things that well. Grade is made up of 2 tests, a cumulative final and homework. Uses WebAssign. Her PowerPoints don't explain questions properly. She does allow cheat sheets on tests and have review sheets with similar questions to the test.

this is the worst math teacher I've had in my college career. Assigning hours and hours of work in one day is beyond nitpicky, and does not care about actually teaching the class. Do yourself a favor and pick a different math teacher at Farmingdale

I took an online course for calculus with a mandatory textbook. I was expecting a chapter or two a day, which meant a lot of homework, but again that is standard for a summer course. She's allergic to giving people an A. Asks opinionated questions and then gives you a 50. Sticks to her grading policy and rubric, don't email her last minute. Beware!
Do not take this professor!! I had a death in the family two days before the final examination, and I couldn't take the exam due to the circumstances. I emailed her regarding my situation and she wanted proof which I provided and she denied it claiming it the date didn't interfere with the exam. A very mean and terrible professor wants you to fail.

It's an online course, so there are a great number of assignments. Be prepared to spend a lot of time for this class. She doesn't have any video lectures past Module 5 I believe, which is terrible as the material becomes more challenging. Harsh grader on the discussion questions. Only 2 tests and a final, the assignments count as a test at the end.
Horrible professor, if you plan on being a human while taking this class then don't take it. She does not give extra chances for valid excuses. She doesn't actually teach or grade anything. Every assignment and test is done through WebAssign which automatically grades it, so if you made a small error and it gets marked wrong she does not care at.
Would not recommend. This class felt like it ran itself with no real instruction. Everything is done on WebAssign, and the professor doesn't review material or provide help with misunderstandings. If you make a small mistake, it's counted fully wrong, and she won't review or adjust grades. There's zero flexibility, even with legitimate reasons.
