This class is easy, but she's somewhat difficult to understand. I have an A, but that's because I taught myself most of the material using the textbook. The work isn't difficult. She gives partial credit on homework and free response questions on tests. Overall, I'd recommend if you're taking statistics to simply fill a requirement.
she is nice teacher. very helpful. I get A in my class.
She is very nice and helpful. She will go over things if you ask and until you understand. Does assign and grade homework, also takes attendance and grades you on it. Each test has a review sheet, which shows what is on the test.
She's really hard to understand, and it's hard to follow what she's saying. She knows the material but can't explain. She's a nice person overall but if you want to actually learn and understand your professor I wouldn't recommend her. I have a B in there but just because I do the hw from the book.
She has the funniest sayings ever. She is a little hard to understand, but for some unknown reason she just led us through lecture notes every day and i got a freaking A in Statistics class. She gives homework about every 2 weeks, has 3 tests. She'll help you on tests if you stay a little longer than the rest of the class too.
Stats is a tough class no matter what teacher you have. However, I have attempted Stats many times. Prof. Jutmaan got me out of Stats. She has notes, and she goes through problems. Yes she has an accent, but she is so nice and helpful it doesn't matter. She knows her stuff and she is super smart. Give her a chance I promise you will be happy.
She's a nice lady, you just can't understand a whole lot of what she says. I self taught myself through khan academy videos and her uploaded test reviews in Canvas. Test review usually mirrors the test. Uploads answer keys to her homework before the due date. Says she takes attendance but doesn't. Gave extra credit opportunity at the end.
She's super nice and will let things slide, but she goes too fast in class. Her test reviews a great, but handwriting can be pretty messy. Always posts the key to the HW before it's even due.
While during class it can be a bit boring, generally if you pay attention and ask questions and want to do the work you can pass the class. She has office hours and makes time for tutoring and you should definitely take that opportunity as she teaches way better in smaller groups. Also, if you stay until the end of tests she can help you sometimes.
She is awesome teacher and easy to learn from. She's very helpful to get you to understand the material. She does have ascent but easy to understand. She's very funny and cares enough to see the students learning. I'm glad that I have her for Statistics and probability for Engineering because I actually understand math . Take her classes
She is a nice lady but she is very difficult to understand and overall just not a great instructor because she complicates things a lot more than they need to be and in a lot of ways it's more difficult learning from her than it would be to teach yourself. Her test were easy because it was online but I would not recommend to someone bad at math.
Overall she provides notes and past tests and exams that can help you for review. Only take this class if you can teach yourself math. Hard to understand her teaching style.
Overall she's an ok professor but she teaches and talks way too fast, and with the accent its hard to understand her. She teaches you how to use the TI-84 calculator to find the answers, so if you don't have one please get one. She gives multiple attempts on the homework and quizzes. Easy A if you can understand her.
Professor Jutmaan is a gem of a professor, She rekindled my love of school. It not often that I want to stay with the same teacher after the semester ends; but I like this professor so much that I wish I could.c'est la vie. Highly recommend her class.
easy A on any kind of assignment
I wouldn't normally write reviews for professors, but Yanjmaa Jutmaan was an amazing professor and person. Her class was fairly easy- if you pay attention, she has an accent so she is hard to understand at times, but she is the sweetest and most caring professor. I would recommend her to anyone!!!
Dr. Jutmaan accommodates for special needs! I have ADHD and she helped me and was very kind. She spends the majority of class one on one trying to help students. To succeed, WORK AHEAD! This is a self taught class so you don't want to fall behind. Learn excel and use the math learning center because they can teach you how to use excel really fast.
Professor Jutmaan is great! I took this class in person and it really was easy as long as you PAY ATTENTION in class and complete realizeit assignments. I recommend her because she is extremely understanding and we complete easy class work. She gave us multiple attempts on test sometimes. She allows you to turn in assignments after the due date!
Hard to get in touch with outside of class. Also, the lectures can be hard to follow due to a language barrier.
Was a difficult class due to the language barrier and professor going fast during lectures. However, if this isn't an issue to you, she is a great pick for this class. Very caring and understands her students and tries to be as accommodating as possible. Responds to emails but may take 1-2 days. 3 tests and 1 group project as well as a final exam.
Study guides are similar to the tests.
I had Professor Jutmaan for Introduction to Statistics. The website we use to submit assignments is free and are a good resource for learning the material. Her lectures could be a bit confusing with the language barrier so I usually resulted to teaching myself the material outside of class. Easy tests and helpful study guides.
DO NOT take her. She assigns so much every week. She teaches you how to use equations with excel and then you can't use excel on tests so makes it pretty difficult. There are a good amount of group projects but the groups are assigned so if you don't get a group that works than youre screwed. She is not helpful and doesn't answers well.
The professor is unorganized and will sometimes add assignments Galway through the day and make them due that same day. Her instructions can be vague sometimes. If you take it online be prepared to still have to do group work which is hard to organize.
Jutmaan was a nice professor. Sometimes she had difficulty explaining things in layman's terms. The class is essentially self-taught through RealizeIt and then reviewed in class. We could not use excel on the test even though that is how we were taught so it can be a bit confusing. I did not like the group stuff but the assignments were helpful.
Professor Jutmaan is super sweet and understanding. Usually you can turn in assignments late for FULL CREDIT and she doesn't mind. There is quite a bit of group work but most of it is easy and she grades really leniently. If you pay attention in class and do the RealizeIt assignments you'll be fine. She really wants to see her students succeed.
Dr. Jutmaan got some hate from the students in my class, which confused me because her class was not very difficult and I always thought her to be a very helpful and kind teacher. While I did learn most of the material in the online homework portal, looking back at her lectures and class materials was helpful when studying for the final.
She does not make it easy to pass this class. All assignments are practically self taught on RealizeIt, which always has technical issues, and she is not organized by any means. The student teacher was also less than helpful. Would not recommend if you need instruction in a math class.
She is beyond so sweet and funny! DO NOT LISTEN TO THESE OTHER COMMENTS!! If you come to class and try, you will have an A. If you are lazy that's your fault not hers. She really is so helpful and works with her students. Highly recommend.
It can be really hard to understand her, so you might be left teaching yourself a lot of material, or relying on your group for supplemental info. However, she really cares about her students and if you are having a problem with understanding the content, she will absolutely stay after to make sure you completely understand what you're learning
The goat
I had trouble trying to follow along with her lectures. However, she was always open to helping us and posted so much material for us to have to look over. The practice tests were super helpful in preparing us for the actual exams. I found her instructions for projects to be unclear, but I got lucky because my table always helped me out.
She can be a bit hard to understand at times but she does mean well, she's definitely not a bad professor. I personally found myself teaching myself the material rather than listening to the lectures most of the time, the RealizeIt was very important so practice on there if you don't understand something. Overall, not the worst not the best.
Sometimes hard to understand what she is talking about but she is very understanding and gives more chances on things if you discuss it with her.
This class isn't what I expected. She doesn't grade the assignments and doesn't teach the material well. The assignments you do are on Realizeit, which does not explain the material in a way that is very understandable. The website does not provide information on the material until AFTER you get them all wrong. The language barrier is also hard.
This class is almost like a self-taught class. All of your lessons are introduced on a platform called RealizeIt which was confusing sometimes without instruction beforehand. The lectures didn't do much for me considering I had already taught myself the material before class. I did feel well prepared for tests, but be prepared to use Excel daily.
most if not all of the work in this class is through realize. it or group projects. be prepared to teach yourself almost every concept and make sure to take notes and study. realize. it can be hard to deal with and is very nitpicky. also excel is needed for every homework problem, but the exams are taken without excel and knowing formulas.
If you stay on top of your Realizeit assignments and do them until you understand then everything else is easy. Group work is really annoying when they give the bare minimum. The lectures are hectic because she tries to do multiple things at once including attendance through PollEverywhere. She has a thick accent, but she's pretty nice.
a very caring woman who wants her students to succeed. stay on top of your assignments and you will be fine. I was lucky to have a good group of people to do group work. she pretty much allows you to help each other on everything besides tests, but her practice tests are usually the same as the actual test. just come to class and ask questions.
Don't take her if you aren't naturally good at math. You will be teaching yourself using realize it, and if you come to class confused she will treat you like you're dumb/not trying. She doesn't make things clear and goes very fast, but she allows you to have your group help you which is cool.
She was very hard to understand but the class was decently
You basically have to teach yourself for this one. She's not entirely understanding when you don't understand and will just tell you that you're wrong. She doesn't grade too harshly, but her tests are significantly different than homework and her quizzes so beware. She has a thick accent which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it can be difficult.
Realizeit due weekly, 3 quizzes, 3 group projects and final. The quizzes are the same as the practice tests. Offers up to 6 pts extra credit for each quiz. You will be teaching yourself most of the material, but if you actually try you can do it easily. Accepts late work and grades leniently. Dr. J really cares about her students and their success.
You get assigned a group at the start of the term. RealizeIt is the online platform you use for practice, and it will basically teach you how to do everything. She reviews the content in class but it's not helpful. She talks a lot when you're trying to work which is annoying. Practice tests are basically the same as the tests, even for the final.
Overall the class was pretty easy. You basically teach yourself everything so I would take valuable notes from the online platform realize it. The teacher is very caring and would make sure that you receive credit on your assignments.if you do the homeworks and practice tests then you easily pass the class.
Literally loved Professor Jutmaan. She is a super sweet lady and will sit in class (or outside of class) and do your homework with you. She puts all of her lectures and notes on canvas. Just pay attention, put effort and time i to your work, and make notes you will be good
Takes her an hour to explain a simple in class assignment and then ten minutes to explain the actual information we need for the test. I recommend not taking her class. The work load is easy but class is 100% a waste of time. She also would never explain stuff only repeat the information
Most of the learning will be done on your own, which can make it harder since its math. A lot of small group projects but they mostly feel like busywork. The way she explains things can be a little fast paced which can make things harder. She does hire preceptors to help the class which does help a lot (thank you Marc). Most work is online.
Professor Jutmaan may have a slight language barrier but I believe that she works extra hard to provide us with multiple resources to get our information (such as extra videos and RealizeIT). Her TA was incredibly nice (shoutout to Anthony- the man was a walking W) and was always willing to help with anything! Tests are hard so study for them!
alright? the preceptor was a lot more helpful than her actual teaching but u can tell she cares about her teacher. overall i did struggle to keep an A but i know most of my class struggled even more. definitely need to pay attention in class if u want a good grade
Dr. J is one of my most friendly professors I've had this semester. To do well in the class it is important to watch the videos before doing the realize-it assignments. Dr. J reviews the realize-it content during the class by doing poll-everywheres, quizzes, and other assignments. Beware of the 2nd exam, it was harder then the final exam!
She is very nice, but the RealizeIt taught me more than her. The TA also (shout out to Mark). Statistics is hard on its own. Poll everywhere is pretty much everyday. She is also really fast paced, so beware of that if you take her. Overall, she's an okay professor.
shes a very nice prof. doesnt make anything complicated w grading, has lots of group projects which are basically 100s as long u submit it. her lectures have a lot of info so focus up, her practice exams on canvas are legit complete copies of the actual exams so do them and its an easy 100. hw to complete every class but its not hard.
She truly wanted every student in the class to succeed. She is very lenient with late assignments and will answer every question you have. Her accent can make it difficult to understand her at times. Also, keeping up with the RealizeIT assignments is essential. Lastly, her practice exams are very similar to the actual exams
Very helpful in ensuring that you understand the material. Make sure to do pre-work and stay after class for office hour days when available! It will help a lot for this class..
My thing with this class is that it wasn't that hard because the Videos teach you everything you need to know for the homework, and there are study guides for the test. As for the teacher, Yanjmaa Jutmaan, she is actually useless. You will get more confused by listening to her. Just watch the videos.
watch lecture videos because she doesn't make sense in lecture. not many assignments but you work in your assignment group almost every class. her ta does all of the grading so your grade is banking on them. usage of excel but excel is not allowed on lockdown browser exams
She's an amazing instructor understanding, patient, and genuinely cares about her students. She works with you through anything, no matter how difficult. Though her accent may differ from what some are used to she provides helpful resources. Pre-course materials break things down, and she goes over them. Sweet, open to feedback and makes exams easy
Dr. J was overall an okay professor. It is hard to understand her and Realizeit is the biggest part of the class. There were so many issues with it, and the TA was the BIGGEST help in the class. Finals aren't made by her so they are difficult.
She has an accent which makes it difficult to understand her, but she is a really caring professor. She really wants all of her students to succeed in the class so she will constantly give out reminders to turn in late work and is also very willing to help students on graded assignments.
A really nice and understanding teacher! She has a bit of an accent which can make it hard to understand her, but as long as you do the RealizeIT assignments and go to your TA's office hours to help you as needed, you'll do fine in the class. She's also very lenient with late work.
Dr. Jutmaan was a fantastic professor. She was very kind and understanding and posted more resources on Canvas than anyone could need. If you do your RealizeIt assignments and go to office hours, you will do completely fine.
She's ok but her accent makes her impossible to understand. As long as you do the activities and practice tests you will be fine. Her TA is amazing and helped me a lot trying to understand the topics. The professor clearly knows about the topic, but the accent is what makes it difficult. Get ready for A LOT of group projects.
Dr. Jutmaan was amazing! Sometimes her course could be a lot but if you literally just do the homework and review the PowerPoints you should be fine. Guy's please do the practice tests, they are literally exactly like the test. Personally all the tests were pretty easy but the final. Really focus and study for the final!
Sometimes difficult to understand, learned more form TA and the UCAE than her, LOTS OF HW. She's nice but grades don't get put in until late in the semester
She is a good teacher, and really smart. She tries to make sure everyone understands, it is aggravating when she spends 30 minutes on a topic you already know, but I know other students need it. Tests are in class lockdown browser. Home work due before every class but it does help you understand the material better.
If you're a student who turns in their work, show up to class, and take notes (easiest A) Not a lot of HW, realizit (can turn late until exam with no points taken off), exams and practice is the same, and get extra points for doing the practice test (6 point each), group and individual work in class, pollev. WATCH THE VIDEOS to understand class.
Great professor! Just do the homework and watch the videos, and you'll be golden. The preceptors are also super helpful, go visit their office hours!
Workload is manageable but don't get behind, 4 tests and a final but the study guide questions be on the tests too. Teacher is willing to help if you communicate.
The professor doesn't teach you much of anything, you're having to self-teach yourself in the class and expects you to know everything when you show up to class. Don't take her class if Math isn't your strong subject because she doesn't teach the class. Not good with time management either as she doesn't give time in class to comprehend everything.
Ms. Jutmaan is a very good professor. Attendance is mandatory because of poll everywhere. A couple group projects but the lowest was like an 80%. As long as you do the study guides you'll be fine.
Just pay attention in class, study the practice test, and make sure you understand it. If you attend your TA office hours and do a practice test should do fine.
LOVE HER. She's very nice and offers a lot of help. She requires polleverywheres for attendence. there's practice tests for all the exams so you would always feel ready to take the exams. Our main assignments were group projects and realizeit.
I love Dr. J. She really sweet and is always very helpful. Just do the assignments and group projects and you'll be fine.
Dr. Jutmaan really wants all her students to pass her class. She has a lot of assignments and it will stress you out sometimes but just know she is willing to be flexible with due dates, go over work together (she does many assignments in class), and HELP you to the best of her abilities. All you have to do is communicate.
She was sweet and willing to open courses past dates. Although realzit assignments are hard if you put in effort to learn YOU WILL. I failed one exam with a 45% and got a 93% on final. But i put in work outside of class, went to tutoring and cared in this class.
She is super sweet but has a thick accent, and her handwriting is hard to read. Definitely go to office hours or the preceptors' review sessions. She is always happy to help. I had hours of work outside of class a week, she did offer extensions and let you keep redoing activities, so that was beneficial. Be prepared to teach yourself.
Very heavy accent so hard to understand her at times, some if not a lot of the course material is not explained in class or on the homework so you have to research it yourself. Teaches VERY fast so you often have to tell her to slow down, but generous with her grades and has office hours along with her assistant and reminds you of missing work.
A lot of busy work, but if you take the time to do it, you will get a good grade. Gives helpful practice tests to prepare for exams.
Dr. J is a good professor and is very caring. She takes time to make sure everyone understands the material. She mainly has you complete Realizeit assignments, and it's important to pay attention when she goes over things in class. There is a lot of group work, so participation is important. The TA is also very helpful. I enjoyed this course.
Dr. J is a wonderful professor who knows what she is doing . She has an accent but its not that hard to understand like some may say. She gives a good chunk of homework but i wouldn't call it busy work and can really determine your final grade in the class. She prepares you well for exams and the final with a lot of practice exams.
