He talked about tomates at a market for two days. Was not helpful at all. I think he needs to take a class in how to teach because he doesn't know how.
we weren't sure if he was really disorganized or just inept. he didn't know how to make a study guide. with the only studying tools being an answered trig study guide as a text book, and incomplete notes, it was impossible to keep up in his class.
Not helpfull!!! would teach one thing and on test it would put what taught and it was wrong!
Very helpfull and knowledgable. Makes hard concepts seem so easy.
To those of you who rated Professor Dhaher poorly I have only this to say-look around in the math department for teachers who teach-good luck. Yaser did what it takes to not only be a good teacher, but a great one. He teaches concepts through stories and real life examples-amazing teaching style.
I transferred in from a private school in PA where it was very education centered, but my calc teacher was a HORRIBLE teacher, he would talk forever on irrelevant topics. He made me hate math. When i came to kent, Yaser made me realized why i loved math. he is the best teacher i've ever had!
Dhaher is AWESOME!!! I'm SO happy that I received him as my Calc Prof! I was so nervous about taking Calc at Kent, but he explained the concepts very well and always helped me tremendously during his office hours. Any bad comments about him, as a teacher, simply come from ignorant people, LOL!!!
He is awesome.
I was scared to death of this class, but needed it to teach elementary school. It is a tough class if math is "not your thing", but Prof. Dharer makes it approachable and fun. He knows his stuff and his love for math is infectious. If you have to take this class, take it from him.
He is an amazing professor, as well as a person. This class was extreamly hard...however he is fun and humerous which made me want to go to class even when I was discouraged! Take from Professor Dhaher
Prof. D ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yaser is a good teacher and is hysterically funny. A good class to take if you're often uncertain about how to fairly divide a cake. Kind of a silly class, but worth taking just for the comic relief.
This guy is cool and funny. I enjoyed him.
if you have this guy, try and get out! He gave h/w every day, is yet to collect one, supposed to have a quiz every friday. We had about three. The only way to get the slightest clue of whats goin on is to ask tons of questions. Bad class!
He actually knows what he is talking about, and knows how to make you understand what he is trying to say! probably the best math teacher i've ever had!
I really couldn't stand this class, he spent most of the class talking about things that had absolutely nothing to do with what we were learning.
horrible....a total nightmare..run the other way...had him for modeling algebra and he made the class border line unbareable
so funny, i loved this guy.
he has a really good sense of humor. can be confusing at times, but is fair with grades. most fun math teacher i've ever had
He is a nice guy but he dose not prepare for his class. He just reads from the text book if you take him get a tutor and will do fine in his class. BUT REMEMBER GET A TUTOR.
I kind of thought this guy was a prick. He's not very understanding if your sick or out of class for any reason. Almost was too smart for what he was teaching, read straight from the book and wrote on an transparency! I ended up getting a B+ in the class which surprised me, but I didn't like him or the class all that much.
Had him 4 basic Concepts Math 1 and he was boring.. i sat in front row every day and he really would just look at the book and teach from there. not always did he know his stuff.. there were multiple times where he stood there trying to figure out what the answer was... he also had a weird way of explaining problems .. some confusing. STAY AWAY!
the class is rather difficult if calc is not your strong point but he made it fun to come to class. told lots of stories which broke from the boredom of math. he grades tough with almost no partial credit but attempts to make up for if by curving. overall though i would say he is a great guy!
I did not like this class. He was a really bad professor. I sat in class and did nothing. I brought homework from other classes to do because his teaching is really bad and hard to follow. Try not to get him as a professor.
He described an indirect relationship as being like "a small child running around in circles, with the radius of his circle increasing with his volume (as in loudness)." If explanations like this help you, then you may do well with him, otherwise, steer clear. Clearly knows the subject well, though, and appears genuinely interested in teaching.
I had him for excursions, I am a hard working student and never expected to do this horrible in any class. Every student in my class is frustrated with him, most people have gotten Ds and Fs on his tests. He is a nice person but terrible teacher. I always had to remind him to assign us homework, he would put problems on tests we didnt learn.
Total nightmare! Was the worst professor I have had in the 4 years I have been at Kent State. Doesnt know his stuff AT ALL! He has to read the book and then teach. He tells really dumb stories. Pretty much the whole class is failing! RUN THE OTHER WAY if you see his name on your schedule. Kent State would do its future students a favor and get rid.
I did terrible in this class. He doesnt speak very clearly and had a hard time understanding the material. He never gave homework so when test time came, it was impossible. Do NOT take this class if he is teaching it. He is a really nice guy and can help you seperate but it is extremely hard to get a good grade in this class.
I had him for Core Mathematics 1. My major does not require math so I chose an easy class & was amazed by how confusing he made even the simplest problems! At the Start of the semester he was explaining a 2nd grade level addition problem & he explained it in a way that no one could understand. Thankfully I already knew the material! Stay away!
he is an ok guy just hard to understand and confuses himself sometimes when he is trying to explain something...like him as a person not as a teacher...
He is a dry teacher, but I suppose he gets the job done. He doesn't give partial credit though for anything, so if you're like me and make little mistakes DON'T take him, because you won't do well. Very hard grader.
This is tough. He's a decent teacher. You can tell he's extremely smart, but it doesn't always translate well to teaching. I'm in Math Concepts II, and all his tests are written by Carol Steiner, whom I suggest you also stay away from. He gives partial cred in my class. Also, he does care, and does what he can to help the class out as a whole.
I had a bad experience with his class- Concepts 2 is hard to begin with- unless you are brilliant at math already or you plan to get tutoring don't take a class from him, you will spend the semester frustrated and if you need a C to pass it you may have to take it again. One positive, I learned a lot about the type of teacher I don't want to be.
If you take the class after reading all of the negative comments on here (they are all true and then some,) you have nobody to blame but yourself if you don't pass. That's exactly what happened to me and now I have to retake it. This time it will be with a professor that has nothing but excellent ratings. Worst class of my college career.
I thought that he was a hard teacher to understand. He didn't seem to know how to teach at all and did not come to class prepared to teach us. I would have to say this was the worst class I have ever taken. Not a good professor.
CALC11012.. Do not take this class. It is really difficult, he does not explain anything and expects you to just get it automatically. Takes attendance but it does not count for anything, but yet its mandatory. Homework takes hours and is only worth 1 point each. I would DEFINITELY recommend another teacher if it is at all possible. Do NOT take him
i had him for core II and III and i thought he was a good teacher. he knows his stuff and goes kind of fast but if you ask him to slow down and explain something more he will do so. doesnt collect h/w he just tells you to do it if you need the extra practice. at the beginning of he asks if anyone has questions about the previous lessons. funny guy
Do not take. He is extremely hard and does not help you at all. Homework takes hours and is worth only 1 point. Tests are hard, problems on test are harder than ones you practice. He screws up on practice problems and you have to correct him if you know whats going on. Dont waste your time taking this class!
Do NOT take. He is extremely mean, and even told a girl in my class to shut up once. He has told us we are frustrating him because we cannot understand what he is saying. Out of 120 points the highest in the class was a 70. I think that might say something. He wouldnt even curve the exam because he doesn't care if you pass/fail. took attendance
DO NOT TAKE. WORST PROFESSOR EVER! Honestly the worst teacher I have ever had in my life. Exams and quizzes are impossible (he puts things on them that you've never seen before). Each homework takes 2-3 hours to do and are barely worth anything. He's really rude and could care less about his students. Avoid him and this class at all costs!
Prof. Dhaher was super cool. Idk what the other people were talking about. But I had him for Core 3 and it was all on the computer. He let listen to my music while I worked and was always available for questions. I could of applied myself a bit more but I still ended up passing!Cool Dude
It's his pleasure to make sure the class is hard. He will bring stuff in the exams that you've never seen before and get mad at you for asking why. Never ask him the difference between differentiation and derivative. It will get him mad and he will not shy away from letting YOU know.
Worst professor I have ever had. Did not know the material he was teaching, many problems on the lecture , useless homework, and insanely unfair exams. Ruined my GPA. Avoid at all costs.
The worst teacher I have ever had. He can barely finish a problem on his own without another student having to correct him. I learned nothing from him, and this class ruined my GPA. DO NOT TAKE HIM, EVER. He is a nice guy but he is just not cut out to be a teacher. You basically have to teach yourself how to do everything for his tests.
He is constantly corrected by students and then gets mad at students for correcting him! The grading on tests are so opinionated and he throws all of the lessons on you at the end of the semester. One section was only assigned for homework and never taught in class! Later, it was on the test! Very upset with this guy and inspires me to not be him.
Doesn't teach for the most part. Messes up on homework constantly which makes it hard to grasp the ideas. Seems to not really care whether the students do good or bad in the class. Tests are homework questions, but his grading is inconsistent so if you feel that you deserve more credit on a certain question, it's probably because you do. Avoid him.
Do not take math concepts with him, he is so confusing and tests were very unfair. The course is already hard enough, he does not help.
Lectures then let's you go, have to figure it out yourself or ask tutors for help
You basically do not take notes. He is of no help. I have him for Statistics and if it wasn't for my tutor that I see twice a week I would be failing. If you get him as a professor, transfer immediately. Good luck teaching yourself.
He messes up on his notes sometimes, students tend to have to correct him. Seems to confuse himself on certain topics. Homework is optional, only posted sometimes (this is where your book comes in). He cracks jokes sometimes to keep the mood lighthearted. I would recommend taking advantage of tutoring options.
Yaser is one of my favorite people, however it does not necessarily translate into being a great teacher. He clearly loves and is passionate about math, but at times is confusing with his lectures. Other times he is spot on and can really help you remember difficult concepts. It was hit or miss some days, but his good days outnumber the bad ones.
Attendance is mandatory, although not for any good reason. He teaches how to use the calculator, but not the material. There were a lot of group assignments, although they did not help prepare you for the tests and quizzes as much as the homeworks. I did not use the book, but I did do a lot of googling.
This was possibly the worst class I've taken during university. He doesn't allow students to take notes on computers during class, and lectures by drawing arrows and various numbers on a sheet of paper. I spent most of the class pretty lost, and youtube had to be my professor. Assigned seats, group work, and daily quizzes. Would not suggest.
You have two assignments every week, and they tell you how to do it. It's not too hard if you enjoy math and have motivation. I always went to tutoring the week of exams for a little extra help with the things I didn't remember how to do, but it's not too terrible if you can sit down for an hour a week and do it.
I had him 100% online and went to math tutoring every week and I was fine. He immediately responded to my emails and is super nice. Highly recommend taking his online class. He even rounded my grade for me :) Two homeworks per week and a test here and there through Proctoru.
Would not recommend.. Just rambles about random things, then you do worksheets, that you never go over, don't seem to be on anything relevant, and don't seem to be graded. Take quizzes over what you're suppose to read almost daily. There are quizzes over a few sections every couple of weeks. Homework every class on mylabsplus.
Super tough course and when you email him with questions he sends you to somebody else and is not willing to help. I would avoid at all costs.
Teaches the wrong things, and doesn't even explain what he is teaching. Pretty sure he was thrown into this, and his TAs do all the work.
By far the worst professor i've ever had. Does not explain anything in class, the TA's sometimes don't even know what he is asking us to do on the classwork. The textbook is never used, but I would recommend buying it because I had to teach myself all of the material before the exams using the book.
Overall, this is one of the hardest classes I've ever and probably will ever take. He's more than willing to work with you to help to the best of his ability. He's not the best with the statistics material, but as I said, he's there to help. Just approach him separately.
Honestly this guy gets bad reviews, but in comparison to my friends' stats professors, i would take Dhaher. You can actually understand him which is good however sometimes his lectures can be confusing. If you stay up to date on the homework you should be okay on the exams. Not a horrible class and i hate math
The best professor I had the entire semester. Really wants students to succeed and does everything he can to make it happen. Also tells really fun stories!
Test were hella easy
i hate math and this class wasnt bad. as long as you do the homework you should understand whats going on.
He is horrible. He does not teach you valuable information. He makes questions on tests worth a ton of points and does not give partial credit. He wastes your time in class but you have to go because he gives random quizzes. Do not take him if you have other options.
Hard to understand his logic behind how to do math. Doesn't grade homework, but if you don't do the homework, you won't pass. Class is based upon quizzes and tests. Doesn't teach well at all.
Usually an A+ student, especially in math. He does not teach, and when he tries he confuses you even more. Realized I needed a tutor, did all my homework, and came to every class but he would not give me extra credit. All of the other STATS classes give extra credit often. The class average was probably a D. Really do not recommend!!!
At other (more selective) universities as well as with other profs at Kent State, students can use notes and the grades are adjusted to the class average. Dr. Yaser does not allow notes or adjustments to grades, he also makes frequent mistakes in class while doing problems but expects students to math geniuses. Please don't take this guy!!
Does not help understand concepts. Is not available or simply unwilling to help. does not teach concepts, simply assigns group work and you figure it out for yourself. Lots of homework that is not taught during class. best hope is to go to tutoring to try and understand anything. These professors do not teach!! might as well take it online!!
Absolutely terrible professor to have in an online class, have talked to multiple people who had to withdraw, very homework heavy even though it accounts for very little of the percent in the overall grade. Tests are mediocre. Just a very time consuming class that isn't worth it and a teacher who doesn't really care about the class if you pass.
Yaser is extremely unhelpful and did not reply to a single email I sent. He does not post any materials or recordings to help you study and you're forced to use the textbook and Webassign, which aren't helpful enough. He also did not give us a single extra credit opportunity. I strongly recommend taking Calculus with another professor.
He's the WORST Professor I've EVER had. He's very unhelpful, has no clue how his online course works, does bare minimum, I had a small issue(his fault not mine) that still remains unresolved b/c he just doesn't care. Unless you're some type of Magical Math Fairy who doesn't need a professor to do their job, don't take his course.
Dhaher is a good guy, and wanted to help his students pass. However, it's almost impossible to understand his lectures, and if you miss class, good luck. Attendance only helps your grade. SO much HW for little % of grade. I'm normally an A student in math and barely passed.
Not much feedback from him at the beginning of the semester. The textbook and videos provided by the book were the only materials given to us. Eventually uploaded exam reviews and a powerpoint but only because of Covid-19. He needs to be pushed. If you want a review you need to ask for one. Very nice man, but you dictate your learning.
he clearly has issues managing online course and you can tell he doesnt really care that you understand the material. work wasn't hard he just gives a lot of homework. be prepared to teach yourself
Be ready to teach yourself. I have never been the best at math and i NEED a professor to teach me. If you already struggle in math, take someone else. Never heard from him either. Made us pay extra $100 to work on a website where we had to teach ourselves. Should have been an easy A course for everyone if we were taught by a professor.
Literally the worst professor I have ever had. He does the bare minimum for his online courses and you won't hear from him ever via email unless you directly email him. Clearly does not care if you have a life outside of school and assigns a ridiculous amount of homework. I could go on for days. However, he is a nice man.
the math program at kent is already not great but yaser dhaher does not make it any better. if you have the professor, expect a ton of rude emails, numerous weekly homework assignments, and quizzes/exams literally every week. plus on top of it all, you have to teach yourself all of the material and he will absolutely NOT help/teach you.
As someone who has trouble in math this teacher did not help,if anything he made it worse i had no idea what was going and never got a good responds to an email if anything he was extremely rude to us in the emails .he does no help in anyway and gives quizzes every week. you will have trouble with quizzes and tests when logging (he wont care )
Assigns a lot of homework and tests, assigns quizzes on Saturdays and exams on Sundays and they are only available to you from 8am-midnight on the Saturday or Sunday its assigned, so be prepared to have no life. Also the homework is extremely difficult and the help videos provided don't really help.
Do not under any circumstances take a class "taught" by this professor, especially online. You will be paying tuition only to spend a majority of your time on Youtube University attempting to teach yourself. Quizzes every week that open on Saturdays and close on Saturdays so say goodbye to your weekends. Also, good luck ever getting an email back.
gives work mon-tues-thurs-fri than a quiz every single sunday and a exam every 3 or so following mondays. if we are meant to study during the times he hasnt assigned new work, when is there time for ourselves our other courses? typical math professor ego that scares people away from STEM do not take
I've taken calc 1 before so I was fine, but he gives too many assignments and doesn't care about his students. The quizzes and tests he gives are timed, and most of the time I barely finish.
Took Intuitive Calc with Yaser and that was probably a bad choice. I never once got a response to an email. Expects you to teach yourself calculus, which is a hard concept to begin with. Never gave help or lectures, just gave a textbook to read and made it difficult to learn. Avoid if you can.
Very unapproachable outside of class, doesn't really answer questions. Pretty much just makes you learn the material on your own. He grades very tough. He sometimes just randomly yells at everyone in the middle of class. I think I could have done the entire class by myself and gotten the same grade.
barely teaches, expects you to know or learn it on your own, a quote from him: the things i do not teach in class but are in the homework you can learn on your own. switch your class if you actual want to be taught instead of googling stuff
Literally drop the class. Its self taught and you dont learn anything
His exams use the extremely privacy invasive Proctorio despite other professors teaching the same class not using it for their exams. It uses 360 camera, access to your browser history and all your browser data including saved passwords. That should tell you all you need to know. Other than that, extremely heavy workload - 60+ questions a week.
I work full time, as well as college full time. The very first week I sat down and did the assigned homework and modules from 11am to 11pm the same day- only got up to go to the bathroom, I still was not done. I completely understood the subject matter, but to spend 12+ hours doing homework is ridiculous. I dropped the class the next day. Run.
Holds a bias against all students even if you turn in all your work on time. Never once did he teach, he left everything to the TA. He messes up on grades a lot so keep an eye on your grades to make sure he does not give you a zero for something you did. If you email him you will not get a response so I'd recommend talking to him in class.
He is terrible
I absolutely would not recommend this professor to anyone. As a person who is just ok at math struggled due to the lack of help and having to be self taught. You have to complete ALL the courses and 46 hours in order to take the final, which you do not know what it will cover. I get mad by just thinking about him.
Truthfully, I had a very hard time understanding where he was going a lot of the time. There was no real elaboration when it came to what he was writing to display. I only got through the class by sheer brute force and that's not how calculus should be. Homework, class lectures and exams were not as intersected as you would expect them to be.
I switched classes from another intro to stats teacher to Yaser and I am glad I did.The class isn't my favorite and as the semester goes it definitely got harder but it was doable, if you spend time learning when you do the homework you will be fine.He does a good job at explaining what we're doing in lecture and moves quiz dates if we arent ready.
I really enjoyed having him as a professor I didn't enjoy the class tho. Professor Dhaher was always willing to help and gave clear instructions on how to do things especially if you just ask. He is very understanding about missing a quiz due to sickness. There is plenty of work to keep your grade up. LOTS OF BUSY WORK.
Decent professor but class was hard and there is a quiz about every other week including exams and hw activities that take a while.
Professor Dhaher is a nice guy and he lets you make up quizzes/exams, but he CANNOT teach. Never once did I understand his lectures. His quizzes/exams aren't too hard, but with his lecturing, you'll have no clue what you're doing. Prepare to spend hours on YouTube praying you can figure things out. There's also 100 homework problems per chapter.
Professor Dhaher is a very nice person overall. However, he cannot teach at all. I took Intro to Stats and his lectures were almost constantly unclear and would just draw pictures a majority of the time. Be ready to learn a lot of material by yourself and watch Youtube videos over everything. It's basically a self taught course. Good luck.
please, do not take his class. most of the material you need to be successful in this class he does NOT go over in class. you can tell he cares about his students, but that does not matter if the only way you are able to pass his class is by going to tutoring every single day. his lectures are horrible and most work you do in class is group work.
I took Professor Dhaher for Stats, I would avoid this class unless you are prepared to teach yourself how to do everything. His lectures never had a concept to it, he just put up random things on the board. He is a very nice, kind, and funny human being but not a great professor. Also the group works never matched what we "learned" in the class.
pretty basic math class, grades are mainly based on the 5 exams we took, teachers and ta were helpful if you asked questions, some assignments were kinda dumb, most tests were based on the my math lab assignments
He was a nice guy but overall his teaching style left you to basically have to teach yourself all of the content outside of class time. Lots of homework and studying for what should be an easy class. If you look at reviews and extra practice problems they're legit copy and paste for tests and quizzes.
I would definetly not recommend Proffessor Dhaher for someone to take. He is very rude toward students and barely explains stuff out leaving you on your own to try to figure stuff out. He also locks the doors of the classroom and does not students in if they are late.
Being less than subpar at math I hated this class for about half the time I was in it, but the more I started asking questions the better things got. He's not a mean professor, and he's accommodating when things happen. You're gonna need to study outside of class, but often homework is 10x harder than any test or quiz questions.
Over 1,500 points for tests and homework make up less than 20% of your grade. To understand how insane the workload is, this is what the final week looks like: 8 Homework/Lessons, Chapter Test, Quiz, and Final Exam within 7 days. He seems like he genuinely does not care about our learning, grades, or anything. For example, no extra credit.
This professor basically made you fend for yourself. We basically taught ourselves and the slides didn't match the homework/quizzes/exams we were given. He constantly complained he was busy and had trouble keeping up with students so we shouldn't email him much. Overall, I didn't retain much of the material due to the poor presentation of material.
This guy tried to ruin my academic career. He is completely unreasonable. I had to get his boss involved in order to straighten things out. If he spent more time actually teaching and less time on his iPad being useless, maybe people would pass this class.
DO. NOT. TAKE. THIS. CLASS. Genuinely, and I mean this respectfully, he cannot teach. His lectures are unclear. He assigns way too much homework too. A very much you're basically on your own type of class. If you do, I wish you the utmost luck, because you'll really need it.
Do not take this class. Everyone was doing so bad that by the third exam he had to change how to grade it because everyone was failing. The powerpoints you're supposed to use are not helpful and I had to go onto khan academy and watch the lessons there to figure out what was supposed to be doing
If you had the misfortune of having this professor before looking at this page know that you will be relaying on the ta's for everything including grading. I quite literally turned in blank assignments blank with no answers and got 5/5s on them due to the ta's being overloaded. Not only can he not teach I don't even think he wants to.
Awful. He did not reach out to us at all except for the first time he told us about a quiz - never warned us again. There are no study guides, there are no guidelines for anything. Not to mention grades weren't posted for weeks and we didn't even have the grading scale or a syllabus until a month in. Terrible professor. AVOID!
So umm I took trig online and tell me why nothing ever matched anything. The book didn't match the Hw the HW/book didnt match the quizes, and the quizes didnt match the test, Finished my final exam I literally feel like half of it I have never seen before and its worth like 30% of my grade. At this point I just need to pass the class to move on.
Slow to put in important grades. Didn't know I was failing until it was too late. Very slow to respond to emails (if he responds at all). No extra credit opportunities or equation sheets given until final exam. Self taught, oftentimes there would be a question in the homework with no similar problems or explanations in textbook
too much unnessesary work. exams are way too hard.
Terrible at responding to emails, even if you're asking for an appointment. I feel like he doesn't realize that students have other classes, multiple jobs, and other things, because he would basically have at least 5 assignments/quizzes due a week, then a day later he would have a chapter test or an exam. Doesn't provide study guides.
Completely online & self taught. Some homeworks were tough & had no example/help available. Prof is unreachable, responded 1/4 times when sent emails. Doesn't take worksheets from exams for partial credit (sent an email berating us for sending them in). Doesn't put in grades until very late (didn't know I wasn't passing till it was too late)
I could write a dissertation on how horrible this professor was and how much I hated his course. The content has not been altered or updated since 2014, nor did they properly explain what to do, esp if "technology" was needed. Prepare to teach the entire class to yourself, because he will not and he will not respond to any emails.
