Best teacher ever
Has a rather thick British accent, but she tries.
Thick british accent makes her very attractive.
Patient with the difficulty of chemistry, down to earth
I like the way she says Aluminum

eh it's been like three years since i had her, but but she wasn't bad, her accent wasn't too bad
always mixed her words up. she took stuff i understood in high school and made it so i didn't understand it anymore. the most frustrating were the tests--out of 25 questions there'd be 5 you didn't even know what they were talking about--things you had never even seen before
Difficult class but taught well. Accent is fun enough to keep you awake.
I liked the way she said H two O, it was like hech. She was easy to understand and her notes were good. Had to study for tests though.
Hard to understand.
Lectures can be boring, but she does a great job of explaining concepts and helps outside of class or after class. Worksheets and old tests help a lot, definatly study old tests. I thought lab exams were more difficult than lecture exams.
Great prof, class material is hard to follow sometimes. class lectures are boring info but its fun to hear her accent and try to distinguish her words sometimes....ie aluminum :)
She knows what she is talking about and I love they way she gives us notes!
Good teacher
Great teacher. Very helpful.
This is my second semester with her and I am still having problems understanding what's going on in the class.
Blows through lectures assuming everyone understands or will understand the information studying on their own. More emphasis on getting through chapters 1 thru 11 than helping students understand. If your horrible at chemistry, I wouldn't recommend taking chem 2 at Kansas State!!
The tests are hard and watch out for the lab exams. But if you study it's ok. Yasmin is the best teacher. And you really don't need to buy a book. i never read it once and still got an A in the class. Save yourself the money.
She is very easy to understand and she relays the information very well.
Her accent is awesome
Very good teacher, makes chemistry easy to learn.
Not only is the teacher absolutely georgous, but she's the only proffessor here who's word is worth a damn as far as chemistry is concerned. Her british accent is SOOOOOOOOOOOO flipping hot
Her lectures are right out of the book making them very boring to attend. However, she posts worksheets with answers and textbook solutions on her webpage which is really helpful in learning the material. Exams are easy, as long as you do the worksheets.
She's an excellent professor. I would recommend her over any of the other Chem 1 professors. She is very energetic and loves to teach. She also gives excellent notes, so good that I haven't had to crack my book open this semester, and I still have an A.
She makes chem so much easier than you would expect. She dedicates tons of time to help students understand the material, and is easy to listen to...despite the boring subject material.
She is an amazing teacher and very enthusiastic about her job and helping her students. Work your schedule around being in her chemistry sections, and you'll be glad you did.
Great teacher, is always clear and to the point on what is going to be on the test.
Study the worksheets, end of chapter problems AND the notes... she will take questions from the notes and if you only study the wkshts and end of chapter problems (as she emphasizes you to do) you may have difficulties
Her british accent is sort of thick, but I didn't have any problem understanding her. If you aren't very good with math, then her lectures and tests can be difficult if you don't do any practice questions. She is really willing to help and her notes are really good, except sometimes she write really fast.
I'm retaking this class after taking it with Dr. Aakeroy. She by far is the best chem professor at KSU. She gives perfect notes that are in her own words and it is simplified and easy to follow. If you follow her notes you will only need the book to look at tables. If you do the worksheets that she gives and take notes the exam will be easy.
You want this teacher! She is great!
Loved her accent, especially how she pronounces 'Aluminum' and 'Laboratory'.
Very good teacher! Gives great notes and you learn as you go though the class and not just by cramming before the tests. Take her practice tests and you will do well.
I would say she is one of the best teachers for chem 1 and 2. Definately take her class if you can!! To do well, which is not hard, go to class, she give notes online but need to fill in some of the gaps while in class. For in class quizzes, she allows students to work together, so you can bump up your grade.
second to best teacher i've ever had!!! she's aweosme
I took both Chem 1 and Chem 2 with Dr. Patell and I think she is the best teacher for both classes. Friends of mine have taken Paukstelis and Aakeroy taught a few times when Yasmin was out of town and I liked her teaching style the best. The material isnt easy, but if you take her you will almost certainly get a letter grade higher than w/ Paukste
Very helpful teacher
She is Great!
If you don't study you won't do well, simple as that. Do the worksheets, end-of-chapter problems, practice tests, read the textbook, and take advantage of the tutors. She takes all of her test problems from these resources.
She is a great teacher! Print off the notes and go to class every day, thats the best way to learn the material because she does such a great job of explaining the information. Doing the homework and end-of-chapter problems is helpful as well.
She is a great teacher! Print off the notes and go to class every day thats the best way to learn the material because she does such a great job of explaining the information. Doing the homework and end-of-chapter problems is helpful as well.
Patell hands everything you need to understand and pass the class to you. Just go to class! Very helpful. There's not a lot of HW. Just online quizzes, tests, and labs.
She is such a great teacher, i really enjoyed her class. Her teaching method makes everything very clear.
Very good teacher, explains everything clearly and is willing to help outside of class. Plus there are tons of tutors on campus in the engineering building. The lab is one of the more annoying aspects of this class however. Also she has a sweet accent ;)
Actually cares that her students learn. While the class wasn't actually easy, she is a good teacher and is willing to put in the time.
i absolutely love her. i hated chem in high school and i really don't mind it now. she makes sure you understand she always puts in extra effort to help you out. study hard you'll do fine
A little harder then 210 but as long as you do the work sheets and practice tests and actually understand them it should be an easy enough A. Hardest part is the lab exams.
Really nice professor, she explains things pretty well. This class is fairly hard; take good notes and go over the worksheets she puts online.
Really amazing teacher. She makes everything easy to understand. If you go to class, look over the notes a lot and just do worksheets from time to time, you'll do great. Online homework and any other work is easy and just helps boost your grade!
she is awesome
Very good teacher. Lectures are very clear and very helpful. You do have to study (memorize) a lot and tests are not easy. Very nice to talk to and willing to help.
All the lecture notes are easy to understand and she provides tons of review materials to use prior to the test. If you study and know how to do apply the equations you can get an A.
She is such an amazing teacher. When you go to her office she makes you feel so good and willing to help you in any way possible. I really love this teach.
Dr. Patell is an amazing professor. She really does care about her students. As long as you pay attention in class and really understand how to apply the formulas and principles she gives you, you will do well on the exams. Even when you don't understand something, if you go to her office during office hours, she will help you.
All I have to say is... if you don't take chemistry from Patell, you're making a huge mistake. Best chemistry teacher I've seen. Hands down. And you can actually understand her VERY well.
very good teacher and easy. just study from her notes and practice exams and you will be fine.
Take your chemistry classes with her if you can! She's really nice and takes what should be a difficult course and makes is understandable and relaxing! She helps you out during lectures and makes herself available during office hours
The most best Chem 1 and 2 professor of all time. I purposely took her classes back to back. She is always willing to help after class. Read her lectures notes and do all the worksheets. Always attend the clicker quiz days (easy pts).
best. chem. teacher. to get an A: learn the notes, do the worksheets, then do the practice exams.
She is willing to work with you outside of class. If you don't understand something, ASK FOR HELP. She will give it to you. Make sure to do the worksheets from KSOL and do practice problems from the book. She also adds in more theory in the exams then she did in Chem I
Amazing teacher.
I had her for Chem 1 & got a C, retook it, got an A, then took Chem 2 with her in the fall and barely got an A (she bumped me up). Great lecturer, good class structure, very helpful and kind. She has the best "come to class to complete the notes" style I've ever seen. Will learn your name & remember it. Best teacher I've ever had.
Dr. Patell is fantastic, she always makes sure that students know what is going on and always encourages the tutors on campus.
Dr. Patell is one of the best Chemistry teachers at KSU. Her lectures are very clear, provides many non-graded practice worksheets online. Very little homework for the class. Gives clicker quizzes on most Wednesdays, so show up to those for easy points. Study hard for the exams and you will do great.
Good teacher, but I wasn't very interested in the class.
Chemistry has always been a real struggle for me and if it wasn't for juggling 3 jobs I probably would of done better. She gives great notes, lots of study guides for every chapter. Expect quiz every Wednesday and HW due every Friday. For a chemistry class it was pretty understandable.
Notes for the class are very clear - you don't absolutely need the textbook, but it does help if you don't understand something in lecture. I would recommend doing the practice exams and homework sheets for every chapter. Put in the time and you can get an A!
Great teacher! Very clear on what she is teaching. I was never confused. Used lots of examples and worked out plenty of practice problems.
Dr. Patell is easily my favorite professor on campus. Class isn't always mandatory, but you have to go for her lecture notes. Tests are hard but if you study the practice exams, worksheets, and lecture notes you'll do fine. At the end of the semester we had about a 2% curve.
very nice
If you work hard, go to class, take notes, and study hard, you will do well. It's all about effort in this class. Patell is a great teacher. By far the best of the chemistry professors.
She is great at providing a good system to learn. If you go to lecture and take notes, practice with the worksheets, and do the practice exams so that you understand, you will do well. She is very helpful.
I would definitely recommend taking Chem 1 and 2 with Dr. Patell! She is very straight-forward and will tell you exactly what is going to be on the test. Make sure you print off the notes before coming to class because all of the information you need is in the notes! The textbook is not neccessary.
Go to class and make sure you know how to do the practice tests.
Absolute best chemistry teacher out there. I would take more chem classes with her if i had to.
The book is useful for graphs and tables, otherwise I would recommend printing out the online notes and just using those.
Yasmin Patell was the professor I had my freshman year. She goes above and beyond to help you be successful in chemistry. She uploads worksheets for every chapters, and has clicker quizzes/homework quizzes that are a pretty close reflection of the questions on the test. On top of that, she welcomes you to her office hours/is always willing to help.
Yasmin explains it clearly, but you should have a good HS background in chemistry 1st. She provides notes. Print them! You will fill in the gaps during lecture. The tests are difficult and the final was hard. You will be tested in lab. I didn't use the book at all. The lab doesn't match the lecture very often, be prepared for confusing prelab HW.
Dr. Patell is amazing. She knows how to teach so that students can understand the material. I took Chem 2 with another professor and missed her so much. You probably won't use your book much. Print out your notes and bring them to class, you'll fill in a lot of blanks. You'll have clicker quizzes once a week, don't skip class those days.
She is probably my favorite professor on this campus. She has clicker quiz and homework once a week, which both of them are 5 questions each and its open book. So its more like an extra credit. She will meet you whenever you have questions and gives you good feedback. Her lecture is based on her power point and posed online.
Dr. Patell is the far most amazing professor I've had in KState. If you understand the patterns of her homework and quizzes, it is easy to get points on that. You need to study for Test for sure, but if you look at her notes and extra homework questions online you'll find yourself in B. No points on attendance but you wanna be there for notes.
Chemistry is going to be difficult no matter what teacher you have but Patell gives her students worksheets and notes to fill in during class to show you what you should or should not study. I had to retake chemistry and Patell helped me bring my F to a B. As long as you study, youre fine.
Great professor, very clear in how class is set up and in lectures. Chem 1 definitely requires some work outside of class but Patell makes her notes clear and easy to follow. Here's hoping she teaches Chem 2 as well!
Dr. Patell is great. Chem 210 is a rather difficult class, but manageable. She has clear notes and is good at teaching. You can get by with skipping a few lectures, but need to show up for clicker quizzes.
Patell is such a great instructor. Chemistry is a hard class, but she makes it completely understandable. I would highly recommend NOT missing any classes if you want an A, because her explanations of the subject matter is invaluable. Didn't really use the book, just print out the notes and bring to class.
Clearly explained expectations. Almost every exam question is demonstrated in class, in the study material, and on the practice exams. Nearly no reading necessary, Dr. Patell makes her slides available and completes notes/practice questions along with the class. No extra credit, but homework can be repeated for perfect scores.
Dr. Patell is one of the best professors I've ever had. She genuinely cares about your success in the class and is willing to do anything and everything to help you understand and pass. Granted, chemistry is a tough subject, but Dr. Patell is helpful in any way possible to get you to pass. Utilize her office hours, and never skip a lecture.
I wish I would've had Patell for Chem 1. Chemistry isn't a strong area for me but she does a fantastic job of explaining things to people who don't have chem brains. She will stay after class to help you understand something which is AMAZING. She's a great professor. I suggest waiting to take Chem 2 with her.
She gives you all the notes you will need but youve got to be at class to understand whats going on in them
Patell is a great professor. She explains material very well so that everyone understands. Lectures are usually pretty long, but mostly bearable. Tests are exactly like the practice exams she gives out. Doing well on labs and lab exams is crucial for a good grade. As long as you go to class, pay attention, and put a little effort in, it's not bad
Amazing lectures, gives you all you need to pass with a good grade. Despite the fact that its a big class, she would notice if your grade is improving and encourage you to do even better. Just study lecture notes then the worksheets, then the practice test and you should be able to do very well!
Dr. Patell is an amazing professor! She teaches very good lectures and make the material easy to understand. You need to attend her lectures tho to keep up with the material. She will help as much as she can outside of class. Highly recommend Chem210 or Chem230 with her!
Great choice to take with Dr. Patell!!
Dr. Patell is a great chemistry professor especially for beginners. She explains the material at a level almost anyone can understand. There are many practice exams posted online which if you study those you can get an A or B on most exams. She is very willing to help and if you need to contact her she is accessible. Wednesdays are clicker quizzes.
Great professor, explains materials well. Gives clicker quizzes on wednesdays. Infinite chances to score full on online homeworks. If you have a chance, take her.
Taught off of slides. Did a good job being available for students. You can't just sleep through the class. Put in the effort.
One of the best professors I have ever had. Practice exams are almost identical to the actual exam and she is very clear with the material. Highly recommend taking this class with her, I wouldnt even bother taking it with another prof
Good teacher period.
She goes the extra mile to make sure every student understands the material. She is truly an amazing professor that I have been lucky to have.
I had already taken chemistry courses in high school, so the amount of material I learned in this class is minimal. That being said, her lectures are so clear and straight to the point that even someone who has never seen the periodic table before could do well. If you print off her chapter outlines and fill it out as she goes, you'll get an A.
Incredible teacher. Attend lecture because she explains everything very well and it is harder to understand if you don't. If you do all of the practice work sheets she gives you and practice exams, you will do very well on the actual exams. Just attend lecture and pay attention and you will do fine in the class.
Dr. Patell is the BEST teacher at K-State. I was incredibly nervous about taking Chemistry before this class, and now I'm pumped to be taking CHEM230 with her next semester. Do the worksheets and practices tests, and follow along with the notes and you will succeed with flying colors. She even rounded up my high B without asking after the final.
Patell is one of my favorite professors at K-state. She realizes when students don't understand and will go over information at the pace of the student's ability, even in a classroom of 200 students. She gives great lectures and puts her notes online, which are easy to follow. Just go to class to learn concepts and you'll do great!
Literally, If u want the A you will get it! nothing tricky in Dr patells class. Good luck
Very good professor. She gives you homework, practice problems, practice exams, and clicker quizzes that basically are the same questions you'll get on the exam.
Patell is the definition of a great, inspiring professor. Her lectures make sense and she walks through each problem step by step to make sure everyone understands how to come to the correct answer. Her study guides and practice exam material are very helpful to look at before each exam. She really cares about her students and wants them to achieve
Dr. Patell is a fantastic professor. She wants all of her students to succeed and does her best to make sure they do. The homework, the optional worksheets, and the practice exams are very similar to the exams. Overall, I am sad I will not be taking a class with Dr. Patell next semester because she is awesome!
She bumped me up when I had an A all semester, but bombed the final. SHE IS THE GOAT
Dr. Patell is so caring of her students! She uses very clever analogies in her teaching and provides clear explanation. She will also tell you what types of problems are on the next exam out of the material being covered. The practice exams are absolute lifesavers and the worksheets are very beneficial! 1000% recommend!!!
Dr. Patell truly cares about your understanding of the material and your success in the course. She is very respectful to all of her students, and provides a clear understanding of what to expect on her exams so you can study appropriately. She is also very willing to meet with you outside of class for feedback and help. One of the best.
She makes chemistry easy and fun. Don't take anyone else for chemistry she is the best! You can have partners on the clicker quizzes and she gives great reviews for the tests.
Prepares you for test
This professor is very good at teaching chemistry by walking through all of the problems you will be tested over. If you go to class and pay attention with a little studying outside of class you will be fine.
The best chem professor I've had!! She gives great lectures and makes sure her students understand the material. Don't take chem from anyone else at K-State!
Yasmin Patell is an amazing teacher. Her lectures are all well organized and she gives an abundance of resources to ensure her students do well in the class. Tests cover exactly what was covered in class. She is truly passionate about her job and her students. Highly recommend!
Yasmin is so nice! She is a great professor & amazing lecturer. You should definitely take chem 1&2 with her over every other professor at KSU. Tests are not hard, just go over the practice exams. You must print out her notes & come to class to fill them in. If you go to class & take notes, it should be a breeze. Lab is also easy but tedious.
Dr. Patell is a great professor! She really does care about her students and will do whatever she can to give you the grade that you want
I loved going to this class everyday. Patell is a great teacher. Definitely recommend!
Dr. Patell is an amazing professor! She is very timely when it comes to responding to emails, she sends out timely announcements and reminders to students about upcoming assignments and quizzes. Although it is very lecture heavy she always makes time to help her students outside of class or via email.
The whole chemistry department at KSU seems to be a joke. Very little support for students by teaching staff. When we switched to online learning, Patell also checked out and had her husband teach in her place.
Great teacher overall. You can tell she loves teaching by her great energy! You have to be extremely lazy or careless to not pass her class. It's an easy B and but you may have to put some work to receive an A. Show her that you are trying and put in effort and you'll more than likely earn that A!
Patell is one of the respected professors on campus. Her lectures are pre-recorded and have been asynchronous. It is self-paced, you'll have to write down notes yourself and she'll go over problems through the video. Her office hours are during normal class times. Would recommend taking her for chemistry 1!
An absolutely fantastic professor, highly recommend taking chem from Dr. Patell. The lectures with the addition of reading of the textbook makes the exams clear and manageable. A 10/10.
Patell is a super good professor. She explains everything very clearly, and the tests are much like the example problem-solving questions she makes a video over each week. Literally just watch that video for a template for the problems that will be on the test. Teaching chem obviously comes very natural to her. She knows her stuff.
She is the best chem teacher ever for both chem 210 and 230! She cares so much about teaching and her students. She will do everything possible to help you learn and succeed! 10/10 only take with her!
She doesnt get back to emails fast and isnt easy to work with at all.
Love her
Dr. Patell is very helpful during lectures. Doesn't go too fast and even supplies guided notes so you can easily follow along and essentially fill in the blanks. This makes lectures better. Always answers questions during lecture. Gives many practice problems like what you'll see on exams. Homework and quizzes are very similar and online. Very kind
Dr. Patell is my absolute favorite professor. She is obviously super passionate about chemistry, which really helps students learn. She walks through problems step by step and I always felt prepared for all of her tests!
You'll love her as a professor! Just use your resources :)
I loved Dr. Patell! She is very kind and helpful! The exams weren't too hard if you studied and prepared well for them. Although, the final exam was way harder than expected
She's the best! If you can get her for class, do it!
If you don't go to lecture, you'll probably struggle a bit. The tests weren't awful, but the final was way harder than expected
Best possible Chemistry teacher you could have!
Dr. Patell is an excellent professor. I was lucky to have her, and she is one of the most respected professors in the chemistry department.
Yasmin is so kind and caring and amazing at what she teaches. She knows chemistry so well and gives you exactly what you need to be successful in the class. Few assignments so your grade is mostly based off of your exams so study hard!! She gives practice exams for each exam and practice worksheets for every chapter. Highly recommend!
Patell is the best chemistry professor you could take the class through. She gives clear notes and example problems that will be on exams. You can get an A in this class if you go to lecture and practice the material.
one of the best professors I've ever had, great teaching style and was always willing to answer questions
Patell is a very nice person who never makes her exams harder than the practice exams. Everything is easy as long as you put in the time to complete assignments and study.
Patell is an amazing professors. I had her for chem 1 and now in chem 2. She is very straightforward and gives great practice problems that are similar to exams. She assigned very little homework as well. Don't take Chem 1 or 2 with anyone else!
Great teacher, does a good job at explaining concepts for everyone to understand
Yasmin for president.
She moves a bit fast through lectures but always stops for questions and always stops to ask questions!! She's such a sweet lady
Lecture notes are fill in the blank, so it is easy to follow along, and you actually learn very well. Practice exams are available to study with, and there are no lectures on quiz and exam days. She is available and easy to work with and understand. Highly recommend
Genuinely the only professor I would recommend anyone take CHM 210 with. She is very effective, and concise, and offers students plenty of times to meet with her, and ask questions. She is very willing to go out of her way to help students succeed, and is an amazing instructor. To succeed, do the homework, worksheets and practice exams.
Best chemistry professor at K-State. always had a clear grading criteria and if you studied you did well on exams.
Amazing professor who cares about her students and wants them to succeed! Would definitely take another class with her
Patel's Chem210 is set up so that the students are successful. The lectures are good and easy to follow, just make sure you print out the notes before class. Do the extra homework practice and study for exams, especially the Lab Exams.
Don't skip lecture! Patel is great and sets up her class for student success, but you need to put in the work! Your TA will make or break your lab section.
This woman is an angel. Her explanations were so helpful, she provides lots of practice problems which you don't have to do but helped a lot. For every exam she would post reviews which were very similar to the actual test. You can tell she really cares about her students. There is a textbook, but we never really used it.
Patell is an all-around amazing professor. I hadn't thought about chemistry for over three years, and she took the course at a very manageable pace and was very good about providing resources for extra work outside of class if you were struggling. Her office hours were very accessible, and she was very helpful when answering questions.
Great teacher! Hard course for me, but she was dedicated to making sure I always understood. I met with her once and she was so sweet and patient.
Dr. Patell is AMAZING! I wish I could take all of my chemistry courses with her. Her lectures are engaging and she has very clear expectations for students that are easy to meet. She truly enjoys connecting with students and helping them grow in their love of chemistry, it is reflected in her efforts to make the course easy to navigate.
Patell is by far the best professor I've had so far. Her chemistry lectures are very informative and I loved the layout of the course overall. She provided many opportunities to meet with her and tutors. Definitely would take again
I don't have much to say about Dr. Patell, which I consider a good thing. She lectures great, the class is fairly easy, and if you don't understand something she will gladly help. Good time overall.
Easy to understand and made lectures interesting. She is a very sweet person and I encourage attending her office hours!
Attendance isn't required, but I highly recommend going to class. She is a great professor and is very sweet; she always makes sure to ask if anyone has questions and gives clear times and dates that she's available for help outside of class. Patell gives you everything you need to succeed in this class but the subject can still be difficult.
One of the best professors at K-State. Her lectures are very informative, and she is very good at showing her work. She is the sweetest teacher and is always open for questions. As long as you take notes and use the practice exams you are pretty much guaranteed an A.
She is a great teacher to help you test well, but she's pretty bad at teaching chemistry
Lecture attendance not required but recommended. Amazing professor, explains things very well.
Keeps the lectures interesting and is clearly very passionate. Totally willing to help you and answer any questions. Fun to be around, very kind and understanding.
I took CHM 210 (Chemistry 1) with Dr. Patell before I took this class, CHM 230 (Chemistry 2), and she was amazing in both. I would recommend you take the course with her over any other chemistry professor here. Her grading is clear, and her class itself is tough, but becomes less tough the more you go to lectures and get help outside of class.
Dr. Patell is an outstanding instructor. She provides fill-in-the-blank lecture notes, which she covers at an understanding pace. Said notes include practice questions, which really help you retain the knowledge. She's also more than willing to answer questions and provides wonderful exam reviews. 2024 Edit: CHM230 with her was great, too.
Patel is easily the best professor on campus. Super nice and gives many opportunities to practice problems and help out before exams. The practice exams are super helpful, and with her resources everyone should be able to pass the class with a good grade.
Yasmin Patell is a star and celebrity in my heart. She understands absences and gives clear and informative lectures. You always know what will be on the test and she has many study resources available. She is a professor who wants students to succeed.
She is my favorite professor ever. The course material isn't too hard, but it definitely helps to go to the lectures. The exams are very similar to the practice exams she posts on canvas.
She was awesome
Easily top 5
Good chemistry teacher. Show up to the lectures it will help a lot. Chemistry is hard for me but the tests were not too bad.
She is a great professor. Do the practice worksheets, practice lecture exams, and practice lab exams. Just pay attention and you'll get an A.
I will admit Patell is MUCH. better than Li. She is very sweet and always willing to help. She's British so her accent makes me giggle sometimes. Make sure to study for the first three exams, they are the easiest. The fourth one is hard to grasp but I would go just to see the questions. The worst exam of the four is dropped. Overall an easy class.
She was loud, you could easily hear her at the back of the lecture hall which was nice because her lecture hall was always packed including students who had the other chem teacher. Overall, she was a great teacher.
Awesome class, just need to put in a little effort, show up to most lectures.
best professor I've ever had-I changed my major to Chemistry because of her.
Yasmin Patel is the GOAT, she is so passionate about chemistry!! if you do the practice exams you will do good but that means you have to do them, not just glance over the keys! Also, GO TO TUTORING! the SASS tutors and AAC tutors are so so helpful!!!! ask for help if you need it, don't let your pride take over and suffer in silence 😭
She is perfect. Anyone who grades her less than a 5 isn't a good student. Her class is set up to make you pass. As long as you study, go to lab, and attend her lectures using her GUIDED NOTES you will pass. She stays after class to help students and is readily available if you reach out. She even has practice exams and worksheets to help you study.
This class is hard even with it being just Chemistry Level 1. You can read the guided notes 100 times and still do very poor on the exam. If anything I would highly recommend taking this class online through a community college or try to get Professor Aakeroy. SAS tutors are ok but there is one that doesn't really help.
She is the reason for my success in both CHEM 1 and 2
Chem 2 was a hard course, but Dr. Patell is incredible. Her lectures are clear and easy to follow along, and she is very helpful, organized, and easy to get a hold of. She wants her students to succeed and she is happy to work with you to help in any way she can. She's also super sweet :)
Took both CHM210 and CHM230 with Dr. Patell, she was very helpful, easy to access outside of class, and caring when you struggled. She is another professor that I would say is the only reason I passed either of those classes, very much willing to answer questions, and work with you to help improve your grade and understanding of the material.
Going into this class I was SO worried i'd fail. Dr. Patell sets the class up for you to do well. Go to the lectures, like it or not. You won't be successful if you skip them. Go to the labs. I thought this class was fairly easy being a chemistry class and she sets you up for success. The tests are easy they're multiple choice 25 questions. 10/10!
