Don't take this class unless you can really understand heavy accents. He considers students ignorant so when asked to repeat a word he will repeat the lesson, and not any more clearly.
his accent takes some getting used to, but if you start out reading the text it is easier to follow along in the book as he talks. then you can learn to understand him better. other than that, he is a good teacher if you can get him to open up. he loves when people ask questions and contribute to the lecture.
prof is easy once you get used to the accent. curves tests and gives easy quizzes. concentrate on key points he talks about and print out lecture slides and you should have absolutely no problem.
He is easy on Grading and gives alot of bonus points for eveything. Attendence is taken but is only bonus but a 6% added on to your final grade if you go to class.
It took a while to get used to the accent. He really loves economics, and he's a nice guy. He repeats EVERYTHING! Take note, do the homework, go to class. He also gives bonus points for pretty much everything.
Very passionate, truly loves teaching. Is out to help everyone and is a truly good guy. Would probably do anything to help you, he loves interaction with his students. A truly good teacher and I recommend him to anyone taking economics. Loves teaching.
Had to take this class twice, first time with Radell...do NOT take him, Sissoko on the other hand really makes it easy, just go to class. work is real easy and so are tests, just have to get comfortable with the accent.
tests are easy. he gives you 100 point homeworks that take hardly any time to do and is easy grading on them. also gives bonus points, but has an accent and is kinda hard to understand, plus he writes all over the chalkboard so its sort of difficult to take notes unless youre already an organized note taker.
overall a good guy who attempts to get students interested in the subject however it is a lot of work he is very nice about extensions if the whole class feels swamped with work howver you must know the material very well
Good guy. Hard to understand but very willing to help you, especially with extra credit assignments. Confuses himself very easily and there is a lot of material that shows up on the tests and quizzes that he doesn't really teach with enough detail.
He's very helpful with exams and notes and hands out extra credit points like crazy.
You would think that when you pay so much for tuition, they could hire someone you can understand. This guy is very difficult to understand because of his accent.
He is very funny. He helps u you to understand the concept of economics. Hes not bad at all. I would take him again, he is very , very helpful and give xtra credit all the time. He gave me xtra credit for raising my hand..lol..very nice
Nice guy, very helpful and funny.. But his accent is incredibly thick and sometimes it's very hard to understand him. If you can deal with that, I'd say take him for 121 or 122.
Lots of participation points, easy bonus, take home quizez/tests, great teacher
He is very nice and will help you with anything you need if you ask. His grading is easy and the workload is related. Do your homework and you get an A!
this man is ong of the BEST professors I've had at iup... his accent is funny and he loves what he does... if you study the questions online u will get an A... every single question online is on his test... take him i love him!
he is probably the best teacher i have ever had he is very helpfull with everything and he gives alot of extra credit if you pay attention in class and do your homework this class is an easy A i highly recomend this class for anyone who has to take econ
This is the best professor I've ever had. I wish I will take all ECON classes which he teaches, because it's very easy to get a good grade in his classes, a huge amount of extra credits. I think every student takes "A" or "B" in his classes.
Sissoko is the man. Easy tests, real funny, lots of extra credit. He gives you 10% on top of the grade you have at the end of the semester if you miss 2 or less classes. He is deffinately the BEST teacher I have had at IUP thus far.
Does not seem to know how to teach ujpper level classes. Gave 4 articles to read and gave 3 minutes to provide analysis with a group. Talked the entire time we were to read. Wanted to discuss after collecting our answers. Question that he really understands teaching process
Yaya is the man he gave me bonus points just for wearing a sidney crosby jersey also he is very passionate about his craft..He has an accent SO WHAT he wouldnt have got the job if he wasnt fluent in english..People are so stupid anyway take him if you need ECON 122
Sissoko was an excellent teacher. You can 10% on your final grade if you don't miss a day and can get up to 6% with participation. This is a very easy class with easy tests and quizzes.
SOOOO ADORABLE.He is a great guy. Really funny. He made econ super easy with his easy quizzes and tests and lots of extra credit.
Easy. If you don't get an A in this class please drop out of college. Gives a TON of extra credit and not the mention tests and quizes are extremely easy.
Hard to understand but super easy. He basically gives away points...literally. if you participate even if you are wrong he will give you points. nice guy and so many extra credit opportunities
Kinda hard to understand, but very fun to watch teach. haha. Other then that an easy A. You don't have to attend class, and he provides a study guide for the quizzes. He gives out a LOT OF EXTRA CREDIT.
a little hard to understand sometimes but is a good teacher. he has a good sence of humor and gives extra credit for anything. the only thing that is mandotory is the quizes and exams everything else is extra credit. i will take again. if you do the assignment you will get an A+
Yaya actually cares that his students learn! There's 3 medium sized homework assignments. The tests are normal but he gives out a lot of bonus on the homework and for participation. "2 points" haha. You can be completely wrong and he'll still give you points. He's the easiest/nicest professor I've ever had hands down! Don't hesitate to take him.
Maybe this would've been easier if I hadn't taken the online course because I am not an economics major or anything and it has to be one of the hardest classes to do online. If it's not your major then DO NOT take online!
amazing teacher! fun and interesting class
Very easy class I didn't even have to take the final but if u really want to learn about Economics he is not the right guy. you need to keep every homework or test you have taken because he forget a lot and he give points for attendance and many extra credits.
Heavy accent yes, but still clear. Sit up front and you'll hear everything. Good attendance, lots of extra credit, and flexibility helped me get an A instead of a B. Very entertaining. Speak up if you know the answer! "5 points!" :D Definitely recommend him. Don't play with your phone (or laptop) while he's teaching... I've seen him get pretty mad
Dr. Sissoko is a great teacher. There is a decent amount of homework at the beginning of the semester but other than a rather simple 5-10 page final report the homework seems to diminish in the last month. As for his tests you need to know the material. Overall take Cr. Sissoko!
I only had him as an online teacher but he really helped me out at the end of the semester because I needed a C to transfer my credits and had a 69.44 so I asked him if he could help me out and he said because I did a decent amount of extra credit he would. Guy gave me a B in the class. If you have him online, DO EXTRA CREDIT and don't miss quizzes
He is a good prof if you just want an A in the class. I feel like I didn't learn much but if you do the extra credit you dnt have to take the final. None the less the Extra credit IS A LOT OF work but it pays off in the end. You do have to take the test but overall he is an easy A Proff and will keep you laughing!
DO NOT TAKE HIM FOR THIS CLASS... he is mostly unclear.. THIS CLASS IS ALOT!! of work.. just to get a decent grade..it should be writing intensive!.. hes funny and will keep you entertained..but not worth the stress pick a diff prof 4 Economic Development
Great professor! He has a heavy accent, but still manages to make lessons clear. He hands out packets with applications of the lesson and goes over everything in class. There are only 3 exams, and you have a chance to get over 100% depending on the amount of extra credit and homework you complete online. Definitely recommend for Macroeconomics!
Not a good course to take online. The program used is very unclear when it comes to assignments, and does not offer much assistance. Take the course in the classroom.
Nice and helpful professor. Gives excessive homework at times. Some material on exams/homework was not adequately covered in class.
Great Professor for Economics Class. However, DO NOT COUNT on him for any student recommendations or as a professional job reference. On a side note, this professor can be very impersonal at times during class and lacks the true concern that he should have for students. Take his class, but don't bother asking him for any letters of recommendation.
Great professor for Economics but definitely has class favorites. Seems more willing to help some students over others. Go to the tutoring sessions for help becuz he only likes to help some students if they are having trouble. I got an A in his class but it was not easy.
He was a really nice guy, gave out a lot of extra credit and gives out bonus points basically every day to people. However his tests can be quite confusing because you dont really get through much info in the classroom. I got an A in the class but I wouldn't take him again because you basically have to teach yourself. nice guy, but shouldnt teach.
A very easy class. He gives so much extra credit and if you do well enough all year you don't have to take the final. He can be unclear and confusing such as trying to read chicken scratch on the board and understand his mumbling.
Econ 121 was the easiest class with Dr. Sissoko. He gives out so much extra credit that even if you fail an exam, you can still get an easy A. If you have perfect attendance, you get 12% bonus at the end of the semester. If you want an easy A take Sissoko.
Even though he is sometimes hard to understand, he was my favorite professor. He gives you a TON of extra credit bonus points for answering a question in class or basically just showing up. If you don't miss one single class he gives you an extra 12% on your grade, if you miss up to 4 classes you get an extra 8%. He drops lowest quizzes. TAKE HIM
Dr. Sissoko was a very difficult professor. He taught STRAIGHT from the textbook, so confusing formulas and terms were not simplified very much at all. He assigned a semester long stock market game that made NO sense to me. I showed up to class everyday & still felt so helpless. I would NOT recommend taking this course with him.
VERY HARD. This was hands down the hardest econ class that Ive ever taken. Missed a lot of assignments simply because I didn't know he said we had to do them (due to his excessive accent).
Professor Sissoko has a very thick accent but if you sit towards the front of the class you wont have an issue. He gives many extra credit opportunities and provides you with a study guide for every exam. 90% of the questions from the study guide are on the exam. If you do well on the on the exams then you will be exempt from the final.
Dr. Sissoko is such a great teacher, he is hilarious and gives TONS of extra credit! Show up to his class copy his notes and you'll do good on the weekly mini quizzes. His accent isn't that hard to understand this class is an easy A and very enjoyable since he loves to have fun and joke around.
Sissoko gives out so much extra credit I didn't have to take the final & still got an A. However, I learned next to nothing. He gives study guides with the answers included, so you don't have to understand the content or work to do well on tests. If you actually need to learn the content & you learn best through forced studying, take someone else.
easy class Dr,sissoko id great give a lot of extra credit
Never had any communication besides the syllabus being emailed to me at the beginning of the semester. Class was confusing, i will not be taking another online class again after this one.
I had Dr. Sissoko for my online microeconomics class. He was very clear in his course and you knew what was expected. He outline everything were nicely which helps for an online course. If you accumulated enough points throughout the course you did not need to take the final. It was a great online experience
There is pretty much little to no communication from the professor during this online course. We received the class syllabus and I received a response on two emails, but other than that no other interaction. Students would post questions on discussion board and the professor would never respond to any questions. Lots of extra credit though!
I took Sissoko online and it was extremely tedious work. Literally SO MUCH WORK. There is extra credit and obviously you don't have to leave your room. I'd save you the trouble by saying don't take him online, just go to class. I heard he's much better in person.
Fairly easy A. If you participate in class, he gives a ton of bonus points just from that. Lots of homework but none of it was insanely hard. He seems somewhat disorganized and can be hard to understand at times because of his accent, but super nice solid guy.
Yaya is a good person, but in the context of the class, he wasn't the best. It was hard for me to understand him. Make sure you go every day, it will save your grade. He uses mindtap which is confusing and expensive. Lots of extra credit but it doesn't really matter if you dont understand the material in the first place.
Uses a program with an e-book. Gives you time to practice and has the homework and exams accessible for you whenever you are ready to take them. He is accessible during office hours and by email and answers emails quickly. I had a hard time in the course, basically because economics isn't my thing. But, I would definitely recommend this prof.
I love Dr. Sissoko! I'm horrible at Econ and don't like it. All of the homework is online and is only based on completion not accuracy. He does a lot of EASY extra credit. You only have 2 tests and a final which come straight from a study guide. I'm taking him again next semester because I enjoyed his class so much.
Not too bad of a class online. Professor opened up everything in the course the first day of class with due dates, it was your job to get it done. I personally worked ahead and finished the course about a month early- it paid off because I could focus on my other courses. The program used for the course can get a bit boring, but it wasn't too bad.
50+ question homeworks, 50 question quizzes, 150 question exams that take upwards of 4 hours with no partial credit. Lectures make no sense, ever. Get ready to spend an average of probably about 6-8 hours on this class weekly. Had no regard to student's busy lives, in an already hard time until the department head made him have regard to them.
All of his assignments and questions are not clearly defined or make absolutely no sense. He does not explain anything at all. Have fun teaching yourself everything and also prepare for large amounts of anxiety as you try to figure out what you are supposed to do. He is a nice guy but an absolutely terrible professor.
Very difficult to understand in class. Tends to not know the material himself and will stumble around in class. Making it very hard to follow as he will say one thing then change what he said because he realized he was wrong. He grades in a way that he prefers stuff done but then won't tell you how he would like it done.
I took this course asynchronously and did not learn a single thing about economics. Every single quiz, homework, and test was through Mastering. I talked to him once when I reached out to him and then never again. He relies solely on Mastering and does no other teachings. I paid for the course tuition and the Mastering program, to teach myself.
If you have the option do not take him, gives an unreasonable amount of HW and does not teach anything in class and is difficult to understand. Only saving grave is the absurd amount of bonus points he offers and he grades exams fast.
Does all of his work on Mind tap and gives a lot of work to complete each chapter. Gives a lot of bonus and gives you a study guide of what the test will look like. His lectures are terrible he asks questions to students on a brand new chapter they never learned. He does not take adequate time going over each chapter crams a lot of chapters in.
Oh my, I literally have not even had a whole semester with him and I have no clue what I am learning. He has a very thick African accent and mumbles so lectures in class make no sense. He will randomly jump to the next chapter expecting you to have already mastered in and relies heavily on MindTap.
Hard to understand, what we go over in class is not in the homework assignments
He is very hard to understand. Gets offended when you ask him questions. Relies on MyLab (homework & quizzes) to teach you. Exams are taken on a scantron sheet. Gives a ton of bonus but I can't tell you if he actually enters them into the grade because he's extremely slow at entering grades. Highly recommend taking someone else if you can.
Heard he's a good guy but that does not translate into the work he gives out. If you take him online goodluck because trying to find the information he wants you to find is almost impossible and that happens in every homework he gives out.
Homework assignments are extraordinarily long with arbitrary information requirements. Said information is difficult or impossible to find. Assignments are full of spelling errors. Tests seem disconnected from homework assignments. Much information for assignments is very specifically from the census bureau, but links to those pages are nonexistant
Links to homework work 1/4 times and even when they do it will take 5 hours out of your day to do something that should be simple. If you want to take this class don't do it for your mental health sake because I would rather take a 800 level Harvard course that makes logical sense than a class that is broken. Take at your own risk.
Overall, do NOT take this class if you can avoid it. The homework is all busy work. You will take 5+ hours on each assignment just looking for data because all the links he gives are broken. If you want him to answer your emails good luck because he never does. He is unavailable during office hours too. Do the bonus chapter summaries and try on HW
Literally sent us the syllabus via email and then dropped off the face of the Earth. Did not participate in the course learning environment at all and thus everything that needed to be learned was done only by yourself and some awful online software. It was a miserable course that had no guidance and only had an expensive software.
Don't take this course with him if you can help it. Has the attitude of 'everyone should find this as easy as I do' & has a strict grading policy. I have disability accommodations through the school and It was miserable. He tried to convince me I did not need them and would make it as difficult as possible for me to use my accommodations.
SO hard to understand would not advise anyone to take this prof.
Do not take this class if you expect to not go to every single lecture. You are allowed one absence and then after that, you lose all of your extra credit. It is an extreme amount of busy work. He is so hard to understand and he gets off topic frequently. Told me that a funeral would count as my one absence and if I missed then I lost all bonuses.
Great guy and very kind . Not the best teacher. No rubric for grading. I wish what he lectured about was more relevant to the class.
Not the worst professor, but he is very hard to understand. Tons of assignments and busy work. However if you show up to class and do the extra credit its an easy 100% as theres a ton of extra credit. Just don't take if you don't plan on coming to class
impossible to understand. whole course is ran through the online textbook except the exams and the textbook is very expensive. takes away all extra credit opportunity if you miss 3 classes. don't take this class if you don't go to class
I took him for 3 different Econ classes. It was honestly super easy if you just do the work and review his study guides. I am not the smartest student so this was honestly so easy.
This class was great! You need to go to class. I once had so much bonus that I could get a 0 on the exam and still get an A. It never took me 5 hours to complete an assignment, and I would go to the tutoring at the library if I needed any help
Very nice professor. His accent is very heavy so if you don't have exposure to heavy accents, you might have trouble. Gives out extra credit like candy if you participate. His handwriting is a little hard to read. Strict attendance policy. The workload outside of class is unnecessary. Understanding for the most part.
His course layouts make no sense, the links he gives for them rarely work, and he never answers his email. In 330 specifically, the homework assignments are tedious and do not actually teach you anything new,. Homework assignments are basically 5-8 hours of you making graphs, just to analyze the graph that you could've just googled. DO NOT TAKE.
