Horrible math teacher. She's not a good lecturer and she's not very helpful - on top of that, she'll make an example out of you even if you're asking for help! You can't ask her about something too many times, otherwise she gets upset. She's a great math teacher...if you already know your Algebra.
Bad accent... tests are pretty easy... she gives +10 extra points for corrections you make for all the tests, except the final. Offers some extra credit throughout the semester.
She is a good teacher.... you just need to ask for help. She may seem abrupt and not so friendly but she's not too bad once you get over the fact that she's not there because she wants you to like her. She might make you feel a little dumb at times but doesn't mean to hurt you. I liked her. she gives opportunities to make up points on tests/quizzes
very easy teacher, if you pay attention. shes one of those teachers who get straight to the point. unlike other teachers who just lecture onto nothing. goes straight to how to solve a problem and gives clear examples that are easy to understand. +10 extra for tests corrections which is a plus. doesn't like to be asked the same question twice.
PROFESSOR SAVCHENKOVA IS A LITTLE HARD TO UNDERSTAND BUT SHE EXPLAINS THROUGHLY. HER CLASS WAS EXTREMELY EASY AND HER TESTS WERE ONLY 10 QUESTIONS. AND EVEN THE FINAL WAS SHORT. SHE ONLY GAVE 20 QUESTIONS FOR THE FINAL AND SHE LET US ARRIVE ANY TIME WE WANTED TO. SHE'S ALSO PRETTY, WINK WINK. NA BUT SHE'S A GOOD TEACHER.
I took this course winter '08 and thought I was going to fail at first. She seemed hard, but turned out I got an A. Once you get over the accent, she's alright. She's really great at explaining math. Tests are 10 questions. She gives EC. I'm taking her again for math 3
easyyyyy.... basically u just have to study the exam review before test.
easy class, sure AAAAAA , will take her class again for math 8
many EC....review all the Q before the Final exam...nice teacher.....must take her class again =]
She is conscientious, witty, and know how to teach. She gives you every opportunity to make extra points. I really like her. I wish all math techers used her style of teachng.
Great Teacher, Got A on her class. she explains everything, answered all the questions student asked. Wanna take her class this fall... but its full.. @_@
She is an excellent professor. You will learn the material and her tests are not difficult at all just study the review questions they are almost the same as the test questions. Highly reccommend taking her. She is AWESOME!:)
One of the best math teachers I have ever had. Not only is she easy, she also explains the material very well. All her homework is online, and the program is very helpful. I highly recommend her.
She is A Very Easy-Going Teacher, Sweet & Nice. This is My 3rd Time Taking Math 131, The 1st & 2nd time I Got A "F", But This Time I Finally End up With a "B". She Review All Test Problem On Board Be4 The Quiz & Test, Quiz Are Sometimes Mulit-Choice Q's, that make Things Easlier, Also She Drop The Lower Quiz & Test.Test Correction + Extra 10Pts =]
very helpful
she may be sweet because she gives chocolate when your group work wins; however she is not that master on trigonometry. So if you like independent study, take her...otherwise you will fail it! she drops the lowest grade of quiz and test =)
Most of the examples she lectures on is from the book. Grades test unfairly. Takes off 10 points just for a minor mistake.
This is a easy class. If u wanna get an A then u shud take it, but sometimes she doesnt expalain ur questions very well. But still this is a easy class cause she gives a lot of ecs.
It's easy only if u pay attention in class becuz she does a lot of examples so u understand the materials. Try to be perfect on exams as i heard she grades hard. There are always extra credit in each exams. Oh, and watch out she can't stop talking, it's really annoying sometimes.
She's a tough grader. Very by-the-book. She doesn't use the book for homework, however some of her test questions come from the text book, so you have to study. She doesn't offer very much extra credit so take it when she does. Take ALL the chances she gives you, there are few and far in between.
She's really not that bad. Online homework, extra credit for quiz mistakes. She does pretty well for a tough subject.
The best calculus teacher in PCC. Reviews are similar to the test. A lot of extra credits. LOVE HER
She's not all that bad. I enjoyed having her as a proefessor at PCC. She has clear, organized lectures and makes a tough subject pretty manageable. Save yourself from misery with other professors and take her!
She's nice. Although it's hard to ask her a question while she's lecturing, you can ask her after class and she's very willing. 6 tests, lowest dropped, 1 cumulative final, HW online. Maybe 1 extra credit opportunity. Tests are simple, usu less than 10 Qs inclu 1 extra credit Q worth 5-10 pts of 100. I recommend if you can usually keep up on ur own
Easy tests, she gives a review that is very similar to tests, she just changes the number. Not very lenient on partial credit, so be careful when taking her tests. Homework is online. She is very helpful.
I'll admit, I was dubious at first, because we fell behind schedule and she rushed through a lot of material. But, less than halfway through the semester, I began to adore her. Very direct teaching style, quirky sense of humor, helpful and communicative. Also, darned cute. I can't wait to take her for higher math classes.
I LOVE HER ! Other then being sexy and hot , She's the best teacher u'll ever have ! shes helpful and intelligent.
She is one of the BEST Math professor at PCC. Lecture is clear, and straight to the point. She is very cute and very nice to students. Even though she grades kinda hard, but since the tests are very easy and lots of extra credits, that should not be a problem. Only complaint is that she needs to work more on prevent cheating.
She is one of the easy professors at pcc.Tests are easy it just contain basic problems. All homework do online on webassign. But we do the test on the paper. I think that little difficult to remember formula and steps, so if you want to succeed in her class do online homework before coming to class and also practice problems in books.
She is a very nice and humble teacher. She did not mind to keep repeating the same problem until I understand during office hours. I got two D on my tests but I got an A at the end. She grades hard but she is straightforward, won't trick you on exam. If you study really hard enough, you can get an A. She gives you quizzes as extra credit! love her!
She is nice professor, gives out a lot of extra on tests and final is pretty easy as long as you study very well on review sheet.
LOVE HER! BEST MATH TEACHER! ! VERY CLEAR ON THE LECTURE! I TOOK MATH 5A 5B 5C WITH HER!!!
SUPER NICE professor. One of the best professor in PCC. She gave a lot of extra credit. As long as you do all the review exercise, there are no surprised in the test. The only bad thing is her accent, but you will get used to it. TAKE her!
Professor Savchenkova is the best math professor I've ever seen in PCC. She taught everything with patient. She makes herself clear and easy to understand, she let me feel interested in math. Thank you Professor Savchenkova, thank you for letting me attend your class. How I regret I didn't choose your class back in Fall 2013! Thank you!
I agree 100% with the previous reviewer... 10 out of 10 professor IMO! If you want someone who will teach you Calculus well, take her. She's also not too difficult... I took her during the summer & got a abysmal 62 on the 1st test, but managed to get 100+ on the other tests. As long as you work hard, you'll be fine! She's also a physicist! :)
She is great. I took her class during Summer and I got 100%+ for almost all the tests. It doesn't mean that the class is easy! Her teaching is very clear, do lot of practice, and her tests are not confusing. I studied hard everyday and I also worked 7h everyday, and did perfect. It was a hard working semester for me but I started to love calculus!
Professor Savchenkova is the best professor I have ever met in PCC!!!!!!!!!!It is a great waste if you don't take her class. She is fun and patient when you ask her questions. She will provide a lot of extra credit, and her tests are based on her review.
She is very nice and gives a lot of extra credit. Her lectures are sometimes unclear when she needs to talk about complicated theorems. Her russianness makes her very funny in class. Take her to get an A.
I Love Her. She is an example of an understanding compassionate human being and an excellent teacher. My friends and I love her. The BEST at PCC
VERY EASY A!I never thought Math 5B could be that easy! The way she taught was just made everything so easy and so clear. Most people in that class got an A.No homework to submit.Course grade:100pts participation,300 pts quiz(everyone can get these 400pts))300 pts midterm,and300 pts final. Lots of extra credits! TAKE HER and you already get half A?
Take this professor. Recommended!
She may be sweet, BUT you must be prepped for INDEPENDENT study , she helps but their is a language barrier, that does not help. Careful the test she gives are extremely tricky !!!!!!!!
Be honestly, she is sweet and nice, but her lecture is not really clear. She jumps super fast in the last chapter of 5C- the hardest one. The thing that i like her class are she gives up many extra credit points and her good personality, but I dont like her teaching style at all.
Daily quizzes, 1 midterm, 1 final. She takes off points like her life is dependent on it. One small error, and you'll get like 5 pts of partial credit.. out of 30 pts. Do problems on the board. Gives extra credit because you'll need it. Last section is ROUGH & its on the final. Independent study so read the book. Meh; could be worse.
Daily quizzes and worth 30% of your grade, so don't miss ANY class! Expect students to do all questions on board and she just check the answer. One midterm and one final are not hard at all, but don't make small mistake because that will be 10 or 20 points gone! Cover materials super fast, but, still, she will give you example to work on in class.
Amazing teacher. She's clearly very very intelligent. Everytime I had a question she was able to explain the concept. It's Calculus so you still have to work hard, but you feel Prepodavatel Savchenkova is there to help you understand the material and do well.
The only reason why she has such high rate is because she is easy. The easiest calculus and linear algebra professor you can get! Easy daily quizzes which count s as 30% of grade, super easy midterm and final. Gives out sample before exam and exam just changed the number. Nice professor but has hard time to explain hard thm. Anyway, she is good!
If you like self study, she's for you.
Easiest calc class in history
Gives Daily Quizzes, but easy midterm and really easy final. Take her.
Great Professor easy A. Every time I had a question she was able to explain the concept. She is an example of an understanding compassionate human being and an excellent teacher. My friends and I love her. The BEST at PCC
I have to agree with others that this is an easy class, BUT not for everyone. As I'm struggling with math, it makes it hard for me to have a grade in the class. I currently have a C+,bumped it up from a D and it took a lot of effort! Not sure if i can get an A because you have to put in a lot of effort if you want an A in this class, obviously lol.
Easy professor. Gives a lot of A's and 10% extra credit throughout the semester. It's really easy, easier than my 7b professor. That is for sure. Currently have a 96.
She is very good teacher.! It is very easy to pass and get A. I recommend her strongly.
She's a good teacher, gives a lot of extra credits. Take her by any chance. She curves grade, too.
30% Quiz 30% Midterm 30% Final 10% Participation Quizzes will be given everyday so don't even think of skipping class :/ Tough Grader. She will minus lots of points for a small mistake Tests - Gives similar questions from review Sometimes not clear when teaching certain topic She expects you to know stuffs from previous math classes.
Honestly she made math fun for me. She only gave out two exams: midterm and final. However, she does give out quizzes to make sure we are on track every time we meet up for class. Try not to skip class a lot or grade wil go down. Overall Professor Savchenkova makes the lectures easy and fun. She also gives out extra credit so take advantage of that
Took this class in Fall of 2015. Quiz each day on previous material, only 2-3 ?s. She doesn't make you memorize everything and tells you exactly what formulas you need to know and reviews the topics each day. Great class, I was worried I wouldn't do well, but she made this class easy to grasp. Def Recommend.
I took her in the Summer of 2015, it was one of the hardest math classes ever, I am a math major with a 3.85 GPA, there are pop quizzes that count a good chunk of your grade, its impossible to study everything each day and keeping up in the summer. Every other class has a test at the end of week or 2, its much easier and more efficient.
I skipped half of her classes throughout the semester. Got about 50 percent of the pop quiz she gave. Aced midterm and final, got an A in the class. If you get an A in the final she would give you an A in the class.
If you're registering for summer and you're reading this, take her. You're welcome.
it's an not an easy class or a hard class somewhere between. The pop quizzes are somewhat hard cause you don't know what you'll be tested. could be random hw questions you did last week so that you're up with your materials. you have to pay attention in class it's mostly participation so if you don't understand the material it'll be hard.
it's an easy class for those who are math geeks, but I have a hard time following her lectures. her quizzes are helpful but sometimes a bit tricky and she goes over the quiz thoroughly which help. it's a hard class and what makes it "easy" is that she reuses lecture questions/homework for the quizzes, but it makes it a bit tricky to challenge us.
Easy professor? yeah right.... Her summer session was a killer. Took math5a last semester and finished with a C. Her pop quizzes are not a joke, it's a killer.. Study a lot and look through your lecture notes and form a group if necessary. We didn't have much to study during the summer because she was always always bombarding us with quizzes.
first of all, her class is easy. I saw that many negative comments about her pop quizzes. If you do her homework which take you 10-15 minutes per section, you will be fine on pop quizzes. However, if you did not do HW, and you still desire to get A, I can tell you are dreaming. There is no such thing as a free lunch. show your effort, and get an A
BEST MATH PROFESSOR EVER!!!!! I'm the kid who's not good at math and hates math, but this teacher actually makes me love math! the way she teach is just absolutely inspirational. I'd take her for every math class if I could.
She literally makes math become so easy! A very smart & clear professor. For the first time I think that this class is the easiest math class I've ever been. Just write notes, and study it at home. No need textbook. You will understand the material quickly cos she is very good at explaining them. gives extra credit. small quiz evryday, midterm, final
Professor Savchenkova is the most organized, intelligent, and caring professor I have ever had at PCC. There are quizzes each class, but the quizzes help keep your memory fresh for the exam. She wants you to understand the material more than anything. I highly respect her for her great teaching habits.
Easy daily quiz, final similar to study guide, very nice class atmosphere where she treats you like family, some extra credit and an extra credit question by the end of midterm and final, and very easy when it come to grading. She likes it when students solve on the board, but she doesn't force anyone. Very kind professor.
Great professor. Expect daily quizzes but she tells you the day before what topic will be on it. Since she is a Physicist by trade her explanation for application problems is really great. I took her Math 10 and 55 over the summer and it was a bit tough but she made it manageable. For midterm and final just study the studyguide and you will pass.
What a wonderful professor. I will miss her.
I took her differential equations class over the summer. Her presentation of new concepts is very methodical and easy to follow and the examples she gives are immensely informative as they are of comparable difficulty to exam questions. The daily quizzes are a helpful and easy way to get points and, unlike most professors, she cares about students.
Professor Savchenkova is a real gem to the math department. She is very caring about the student and wants everyone to understand hard concepts with easy examples. She is accessible, be ready for daily quizzes and extra credit. If you struggle in Calc 2-3 take her, she will help you to master the concepts.
Professor Savchenkova is the real deal. I had her for Math 5B/5C. Here's what you need to know: she likes teaching early in the morning, there is a quiz everyday before the start of session, she only gives Midterms and Finals, and lots home extra credit.
Pros - Her exams are straightforward, basically, exams are from lectures. - Give plenty extra credit <3 - She is very nice. Cons - Quiz every class (but it helps you understand the topic further to be honest) - Morning class
Love this professor, took her for calc 2 over winter. The material is hard but I think she is fair with her grading and the quizes every session really makes you stay on top of your homework
A nice professor. She shows nearly all the proof and explains concepts well.
She is probably the easiest 1b teacher, there is little to no hw and she doesnt check it. I only do ot for studying. theres daily quizzes and they are ez.
Good teacher. She talks quickly and quizzes every single day, but it's manageable.
Prof. Savchenkova is super nice. There is no test for her class but she gives quizzes every day. Quizzes are easy as long as you pay attention in class. She doesn't collet hw so it is your choice to do it or not.
I took her 3 years ago even though I've transferred long ago, but I came back to rate her because I have never and will never forget her. She is the best teacher in the world: Quizes every time so you could learn something and stop whining "I haven't learned anything!!!", gives a review exactly as the midterm so you don't cry: "She tricked us :((("
Best Professor ever!!!! Clear and precise lecture. Straight to the point. Although she has an accent, you will get you to it in like 2 to 3 days. Quizzes beginning of every class(1-2 questions) except on exam days. After certain amount, the rest of the quizzes are extra credit. 1 midterm and 1 final. Just study and get decent grades on your quizzes
I love this Professor so much, would recommend to anyone and everyone. I am hoping she teaches Math 5c next semester because she literally made me love math. Other professors over complicate things and make math so daunting but the way Professor Savchenkova explains concepts is magnificent.
She was the best professor I ever seem. I never fall in sleep once in her class and always feel that time pass so fast. You can ask her everything and she will answer you step by step. Quiz before class, Two Tests, show your work on board. Easy A! Love her!
Professor Savchenkova is an excellent teacher who really cares about her students. Whenever you don't understand something, she always makes sure to explain it more clearly. She let's you know what to expect on tests and quizzes which are the only things that make up your grade along with participation points and extra credit. She's awesome!
Daily quiz in winter/summer, weekly quiz in fall/spring Have extra credit in the quiz, and extra credit problem on midterm and final Midterm and Final exam are similar with the sample exam
Took this professor after reading the positive reviews on here. My experience was mostly negative. Savchenkova's speech pattern is confusing and asking her the repeat makes her exasperated. Her sarcasm is caustic, as I've experienced from asking her questions after class. I'm not sure if these other comments are real reviews.
Her video lectures make me want to vomit, none of them are well recorded. She does not explain topics that she assigns in her daily quizzes, and often omits examples for problems that we encounter. I don't know why she gets such high ratings.
Took online/asynchronous. Some of her lectures can be confusing, but most make sense. She takes time to review concepts from Calc/Lin Alg when necessary. Weekly quizzes (you have a couple days), 2 labs, 2 reviews, oral and regular final. She's much better than the average math professor and the weekly assignments help to prevent procrastination.
She is a really solid professor. She does a pretty good job explaining in her lectures, but implemented half way through the semester a quiz every meeting rather than the usual once a week. It sounds bad, but honestly if you study (a lot of self studying), you should be okay. It isn't super easy to get an A but you do learn in this class.
Really good lectures. Prof. Savchenkova knows how to explain mathematical concepts in a way that is insightful, clear and helpful for hw and exams. You can tell she cares about students learning. There are quizzes each class but they help you stay on track and if you miss some there are several opportunities for makeup/extracrdt. Highly recommend.
Quizzes every class but she tells you what's going to be on it, worth 35% of your grade. Midterm/finals are pretty easy, she gives a review and the test is very similar. There is extra credit also, overall pretty easy class if you do a bit of studying.
Such a sweet professor who genuinely wants you to succeed. Ended this class with over 100%. Daily quizzes but she tells you the questions beforehand. Only two exams, both of which are carbon copies of the study guides (super easy). Do the homework (She doesn't assign much! Just do it!) and you're basically guaranteed an A. Best professor ever.
Please take her if you are a student who get teach yourself and always get A on the math class. She tries to teach her students and I respect that, but more than half of the students dropped it before the first exam. Use her own way to solve problems sometimes.. weekly quiz. worth 30% weekly lec. note 10% HW10% midterm&final 25% each Good LUCK
I took her hybrid class which involved a lot of self studying but I didn't mind. She is blunt with students but she means well. There is a lot of homework so make sure to do them weekly. There is also weekly lecture notes to turn in and quizzes. It's manageable and her tests are super easy if you study. If you have the chance to take her do!
I took her hybrid course. Her video lectures aren't the best, but youtube can teach you the same stuff. She emphasizes practice problems & participation. Quizzes/exams are very straightforward, almost exact to what was covered in class. She gives an insane amount of extra credit, so it's honestly impossible to fail. I ended with over 100% overall.
This class is very much like a high school Spanish class. She barely speaks English, makes you do exercises you don't know how to do on the board, and mumbles things she really should keep to herself. What's different about her class is that she grades with her heart, not a rubric. Unfortunately, her heart seems to be in the wrong place.
