Kravchuk is a good teacher. Assignments and tests are very easy. She is just hard to understand.(Russian). Easiest teacher in our Math Dept.
She is AWESOME. I had to take this course for the second time, and she helped so much. If you have to take this course try to get Dr. Kravchuck and not WAILES!! I'm glad that she teaches this course. There should be more teachers like her in math dept.
This was my first college math course and I passed with a B. She was very helpful and enthuastic about teaching the subject. Dr. Kravchuk went out of her way to ensure that students understood the material. She always says "get it".. Its funn
She's hard to understand sometimes, but she tries really hard to make herself clear. If you do the recommended homework for her class you can definitely get a good grade.
She is an excellent teacher. She has a thick accent, but she strives to be clear and you get used to the accent after a week or two. If you do the suggested homework, you'll make an A unless you're a moron.
Kravchuk is a very good instructor.. Very helpful and clear..
glad i took her for this class. i heard the other professor that teaches it is pretty hard. the book was very good as well, i missed alot of classes because it was so easy
at first you cat really understand her but you after a few days you can get what she is saying. she is super easy and super nice. if you have to take math 102 or 105 then take her. do no take ms. wailes
She's very sweet. It's hard to understand her sometime but eventually you will get it.
If I would have actually paid attention i could have made a b in the class. She is really funny sometimes, just a little hard to understand. And she always says GET IT??
She is a great teacher, although she is a little difficult to understand at times. I made a 100 on the mid-term, so her tests are not difficult if you go to class. And remember...in the words of Kravchuk "Do your CRAPA!" "Get It?"
Great lower level math teacher. She is funny without trying to be. Knows her stuff and seems nice enough. Tests are representative of material covered in class.
Great person and teacher, difficult to understand.
Dr. Kravchuk is a wonderful professor. The class may be hard, but she tries her best to make sure her students do well. She's pretty funny, in a dry kind of way, and sometimes without realizing it. I highly recommend her, even though she is difficult to understand at times. Brilliant woman!
Great teacher, yes sometimes hard to understand but you get what she means. you will always laugh at her telling you do "do your crapa" and if you "got it"
i had her two semesters in a row. she's very helpful and tries her hardest to make you understand. she tells you EXACTLY what is on her tests, yet, quizes are somewhat harder. i would strongly recommend taking her.
She is a wonderful math teacher. Although you cannot always understand what she is saying, you get the just of it. I would recommend her for others to take for 105.
she is a really good teacher, as long as you do your CAPA homework and study the quizzes you will make an A
Dr. Kravchuk is a great math teacher. She is very understanding as long as you attend class on a regular basis. In other words, don't miss class unless u have to. Gives extra points to those who attend. Always do CAPA
She isn't very clear, but she breaks down things in a way that it's easier to understand. Unlike some professor, just expect you to understand what they are talking about and will not help you understand. She is the total opposite. I love her method of teaching.
Kravchuk is a great professor. She gave me a clear understanding of a subject that I had to drop a year ago. She tries her best to give you as many points as possible, including partial credit on exams. Take her, you will like it, if you can get past her accent.
If she would teach upper level math, I would be a math major. She's the only professor in the math dept. who actually cares about teaching her students. She does not assume that what she goes over is common knowledge. Excellent professor--Tests come straight from the notes.
She's eastern european so you may not be able to understand her in a large class setting. so if it is be prepared to teach yourself.
She made the class somewhat easy. It was slightly difficult to understand her though.
vey easy teacher. can't understand her. if u don't understand something please ask her during class.
Very HELPFUL! Her accent may put you off at first but she is so overcompensating. Ask for help and you will get it! By far BEST math teacher there is
she is a good teacher you will have to go to her class if you dont understand anything. she will help you alot on her tests too. It is mainly capa and notes. have fun but her english is hard to understand
Kravchuk is a wonderful professor. Yes she does have an accent but its not that hard to understand. She will go over a concept until you get it and teaches the homework problems in class. If you aren't good in math then you should definitely take her....SHE WILL HELP YOU!
She makes math so easy to understand. I took precalculus in high school and hated it; taking it with her has made me ENJOY math. It will take about a week of very close listening to get used to her accent. Do the homework ahead of time and if you understand it really well, going to class isn't necessary because she just goes over each type of prob.
She was a really good teacher. She was really hard to understand sometimes, she left you staring at her wondering what word just came out of her mouth. But she was willing to help as much as she could and wouldn't seem bothered by it. I am taking her again for 105 and I suggest you do too!!
Yes shes easier than most and helpful, but she is hard to understand and gets offended when you ask her to repeat herself. Sit in the front.
Dr. Kravchuk is the best math teacher in the math depatment.
I had to drop the class. And it wasn't because I am a poor student. I've always made A's in math. I couldn't understand a word that came from her mouth. Maybe it's just me... others gave her good ratings. But I know I didn't learn anything. She doesn't teach methods.. she just copies problems onto the board.
Dr. Kravchuk is honestly the best teacher I have ever had, including throughout Highschool In fact, I took Math 105, and it was my only A this semester! One thing though, if you take her class, sit near the front of the room so you can hear and understand her. If you ask her to repeat something that you dont understand, though, she always will.
Very easy, very helpful! go to class, listen CLOSELY, take notes, & do your CAPA..you'll be fine!
she is very helpful and as awesome teacher just sometimes hard to understand!
good teacher. precalculus is just not for me! i hate math w/ a deep down passion
I wouldn't recommend taking her.I took her b/c of the good ratings on here and that was a BIG mistake. She is unwilling to help. Her test are way too hard and she doesn't really teach the material. She will write things on the board but not tell you the rules or why you are even doing it she just expects you to know.Half the people failed her class.
In response to the previous posting, you probably failed the class because you didn't do your homework or study. Her tests come straight from the homework. Dr. Kravchuk is an excellent professor, and I can speak from personal experience that she is very willing to help if you just ask.
Wonderful professor. Her instructions and explanations are very clear and to the point. She is helpful and patient. Ask questions, do your homework, and show up for EVERY class prepared (read the section before class) and you will do well.
great teacher and very helpful!
Her class was very easy, the tests and quizzes were easy but the final was really hard
Very good teacher...had to retake this class because i made a D with another professor, but easily pulled an A in this class...the tests and quizzes come straight from the homework and she is very willing to help...overall great teacher
Good class, 4 week term, good pace, good teacher overall, a little hard to understand sometimes, seems to really care about the class and them doing well. Alot better than Zou!
She's really nice and helpful. I had difficulty understanding her most of the time. You have to go to class and do the homework or else you will not do good.
I took this class like, ohh, three times.. (most of the math department here sucks). She was the first exception I came across. Teach's you directly from the homework. Just keep with her, and she will even work out 'your' problem in class, if you are unable to... She does have an accent. But so does everyone else in this department. Sit close...
CAN'T UNDERSTAND A WORD SHE SAYS... SHE'S RUSSION OR POLISH OR SOMETHING... (HAS THE ACCENT)
Hablo ingles???
She tries to be very helpful, but with her accent, is is sometimes hard to understand her. I was lucky enough to get the MLL course w/ 1 day per week lecture and all online work tests and quizzes. I pretty much taught myself but she was there for help when i needed her.
She is VERY EASY. Her accent is easy to understand.. you just have to get used to it. She goes over every CAPA problem and reviews you thoroughly before the test. She even gives you answers when you are completely stuck on a question during a test! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
She is a great teacher. she is very helpful and takes the time out to make you understand. the best part is that she will literally tell you how to do a problem on a test day if you go and ask her. make sure that you attend every class because the problems she works on board will help you a lot. definitely take her!!
Loved her. Make sure you do all the CAPA to be fully prepared for tests. Four tests count 35% of your grade, CAPA counts 15%, Four Quizzes count 15% (she drops your lowest quiz grade), and the Final is 35% of your grade. EASY just practice the problems and do the test review worksheets before the test. Accent is somewhat difficult at first.
GREAT TEACHER! Has accent, but sit near the front & u'll be fine - kind of fun actually. Breaks everything down into steps. SO HELPFUL! Answers questions & will review any problems. Just keep up with your CAPA, & the Study Guides help too. Tests are fair, & her grading is easy. Do the all the material to study for the final - I did & made an A.
this was a great teacher! her class was easy and she was always willing to help. at first she is a little difficult to understand, but i would definitely recommend this teacher!
She cannot talk worth crap and makes her tests hard for no flippin' reason. She was okay in 102 but 105 is wayyy harder.
Once you get past the accent she is a really good teacher. The tests are hard, but it just reflects the subject matter. She is willing to help you with anything all you have to do is ask. Best math teacher I've ever had.
Kravchuk is an excellent professor. Her tests come from the homework, and if you have any problems understanding anything, she's always helpful. You might want to save your money and skip buying the textbook for the class and just stick with the online version (I never used the book once). Do your homework (repeatedly) and you'll get an A for sure!
Dr. Kravchuk is extremely helpful and really knows the subject. She was always willing to help and responded quickly to all my e-mails. Anyone who didn't like her probably just wasn't a good student. Be sure to do all your online homework because the test are just like them.
Kravchuk was a good teacher, if you do the homework sets and study them, the test will be a breeze. Of course, you shouldn't wait to study for the test the night before. It took me a little while to be able to understand her; you should LISTEN! Don't talk in class to neighbors!
I loved Kravchuk. She is really nice and sweet. I don't know is she is fully appreciated for her work.
Dr. Kravchuk is one of the most effective teachers I've had at UAB. She's nice and, and she really knows her stuff. Sit up front though. It helps with the accent.
knows the material and does try to teach the best she can. The further you are away from her the harder it is to understand her (accent). Took her for MA 102- sat in front, made A. Took 4 105-sat in back, made D grrr... Not her fault though, I dropped the ball...compared to the other choices, there's really nothing to loose.
it is very very hard to understand her and she can be mean sometimes. i think i would do better only showing up for the tests.. but if you dont go, you dont get the participation points and that completely KILLS your grade
Dr. Kravchuk is a very helpful teacher. I had her for 102 and now for 105. Attendance is mandatory, and if you study your homework, you will do fine in her class. You can also ask her questions during tests and she leads you in the right direction. Definitely a helpful math teacher, I totally recommend!
Dr. Kravchuk is definitely the most effective teacher I've ever had. She knows the material very well, she's sweet and extremely helpful. She could have easily failed me (for my own mistake), but instead went out of her way to help me. I have much respect for Dr. Kravchuk not only as a person, but also as a teacher for doing so.
Kravchuk went above and beyond duty with me. I had some family issues occur during mid-semester and missed a test and some quizzes. Unlike some teachers who would have said "you r a victim of circumstances" she worked with me. She's awesome!
Don't take her class
Dropped the class because of her THICK accent
Dr. Kravchuk is great! She is hard to understand but will help you as much as she can. Definatly recommend her for math!! Attendence is mandatory but she gives points for it that help your grade a lot!
She does have a thick accent but if you pay attention, you shouldn't have too much trouble, especially after a few classes. Doesn't come off very friendly, but she will help you with anything if you ask her - legitimate reason for missing a quiz, messed up an answer format, clarity on solving problems, etc.
Kravchuk is a very nice teacher and she will go out her way to make sure you understand. If you ask questions she will make sure u understand when she is finished explaining. Even though you can't understand everyword, you can understand most of what she say. I made an A in 102 and 105. Just practice the quizzes and you will be fine!
I thought she was an ok teacher. She seems nice, but the class was harder than I thought it would be. Her accent does make her very hard to understand at times, and she was also late to our once a week lecture frequently, which I really didn't appreciate. Can't quite put my finger on it, but I wouldn't take her again.
I really enjoyed taking Math 098 with Dr. Kravchuk, she was most helpful. I am definately taking her class for Math 102. She does have an accent but it is not that thick, matter of opinion I guess.
Dr. Kravchuk is a wonderful teacher. She has a thick accent that is sometimes difficult to understand, especially if you are originally from the South. However, she is extremely helpful and will work with you to make sure you understand the material. I would recommend her to anyone who struggles with math.
Great. Extremely helpful. You'll get used to the accent :)
So far, she is the best math teacher I have ever had. I have taken her for 2 semesters. She is willing to go out of her way to help you if you ask. I enjoyed the class and made a good grade.
Dr. Kravchuk is very helpful. I would recommend attending her review lectures right before the exams because she will usually explain how to do the exact problems that will be on the exam. Also if you don't know how to do a problem on the exam, you can ask her and she will get you started on the problem and then let you finish working it.
She is kinda hard to understand pretty much the whole class time. Though she is very helpful to student who need help. Coming to class is not mandatory, though it does count for 5 points. Which is a perfect score on the homework and quiz. BTW you dont need to book!...all you need is the online code. The homework shows you how to do everything.
Just go to class, and listen, very helpful
Very sweet lady. Had her for the MA 102 online course. She is very helpful if you need to email her, she emails back quick. She enjoys her job and likes helping students enjoy it too.
She is a nice lady who is a good teacher. Has a strong Russian accent which can make her somewhat hard to understand but it is not to difficult. She will go out of her way to help you even if you don't ask for it. Takes an interest in her students doing well in the class.
I was completely failing this class. I had never taking calculus before and I had no clue what was going on. After receiving an early alert, I knew I had to buckle down. I then realized just how sweet and helpful Dr. Kravchuk is. She is very willing to help any student who helps. Would definitely recommend her to anyone.
She is very helpful, and is very knowledgeable of the material, if I had to take any more math classes I would take, I highly recommend this teacher, but if you can dont buy the workbook, it's useless.
Thick russian accent was my only real complaint.
Hard to understand at times due to her Russian accent, but she is a very good teacher. She makes sure to answer our questions. During lab she will walk around and ask if we need any help.
Although Kravchuck did write the book, I would not suggest taking her. I could not understand her very heavy Russian accent at all and my grade reflected it. Now I'm teaching myself algebra while i struggle through cal I.
Would Definitely recommend her to any student who doesnt like math. Math lab is your life in this class and really is your best friend. I am taking her again for that reason. All HW, quizes and tests are on math lab. This is really good if you dont mind teaching yourself a little. She has a heavy accent but is really sweet. TAKE HER!
Super easy, 1 chance for test, 2 chances for quizzes, and unlimited homework. She is very helpful, although she has a thick accent but other than that I have an A. Take her if you can!
She is a good teacher and will do anything she can to help you. Her accent is hard to understand at first i got used to it quickly. Plus, most of the learning I did, I taught myself in the math lab by looking at example problems. Also, she says the text book is mandatory, but i got through the whole class without it. So, don't waste your money
She has a thick accent so it is a little difficult to understand. However, she is very helpful and wants her students to pass. Just attend class and actually study. It isn't a hard course if you just keep up!
very hard to understand due to accent. not a very helpful teacher.
If you are an independent learner, take this class! She is fair and a good teacher, besides the accent. A very sweet lady. Lots of work in the math lab, but it's worth it for the points and helps you understand what's going on. Tests are straight from the book.
Very great teacher! Like everyone on here said, she definitely cares about her students and is willing to help. I'm taking her for MA106 again. You get used to the accent, by the way. At first, I thought she was strict and mean, but then found out that she's a very sweet lady!
First, her accent is very difficult to understand. You have to stare at her mouth in order to understand what she's saying so listening and writing at the same time is impossible. Secondly, she is rude and will not help you. She took an attitude because I asked her to look back at the computer's grading of a few quizzes. Overall, steer clear.
She is a very sweet lady. You can never get anything from that which you do not respect!!my advice to ALL of y'all is to swallow your pride and you shall learn from this Russian lady,I made an A and you can too!!!
Just do the practice tests over and over again on the MathLab thingie and you're good, but in-class lectures were boring. Sweet lady, although you do need a little while to get used to the Russian accent.
She is very hard to understand. I would ask questions, and end up more confused than I already was. If you're not good at math and need actual instruction, do NOT take her. You'll end up teaching yourself.
Professor Kravchuk is Russian, so it can be hard to understand the way she talks and teaches. The way UAB does their math, you almost don't even need a teacher even though class is mandatory and you receive points for. She is very sweet though and willing to work with you anyway she can help. I loved this class and am taking her for 105.
Mrs. Kravchuk does have thick accent, but you get used to it. Most of the class is online anyways. MyMathLab is where all of our homework and tests are administered. You can basically teach yourself the information on Math Lab if needed. If you do all the homework, go to class, and do the practice tests for the exams you will definitely make an A.
I did not learn from her at all I learned from my mathlab plus overall it wasn't too difficult but her workbook was useful at times. I would recommend her for if you need help she is really nice and will make time for you.
I just wish she would reply to my emails within 24 hours. If she would've done that, I might be a little bit happier with her. She's okay.
She is a great teacher and wonderful person. She really wants you to learn and is very helpful. She wants you to do well. I took her class in the sumer and it was fast paced but I was able to understand the material and pass with no problem. Take Her!
I really liked Kravchuk! I took her for pre-cal with trig. Although it's a tough course, I did fairly well. She gives points just for showing up, and the homework and quizzes are grade savers. The tests are somewhat difficult, but as long as you do a practice test or go over your quizzes you should be fine. She's just hard to understand sometimes.
Dr. Kravchuk is Russian. But not impossible to understand. As long as you pay attention there should be no problems. she explains the material very well. She is always willing to help. This class was more online, then class oriented be prepared for that.
Go to class and take the practice exams online and this class is easily passed. Made an A without breaking a sweat. You get used to her accent and she was always wiling to help every time I asked. Good teacher.
She is either Russian or Ukrainian and sometimes hard to follow due to her accent, but other than that, a very good teacher!
Kravchuck is kind of hard to understand. If you have a hard time with accents, you may want to choose someone else. The online portion of the class really helps, and you have to submit a quiz and homework every week. If you do the practice test and do well at that, then you'll do well on the tests.
DO NOT TAKE CLASS ONLINE!! She does not explain any of the material that you ask her to explain. And the lectures DO NOT help with the homework.
TERRIBLE AND RUDE AND NOT HELPFUL AT ALL! I am currently a student a Tech, I took this class over the summer to get some credits out of the way but she was rude, not helpful and overall ended up failing me. DO NOT TAKE. I Ignored the comments and took the class anyways but I should not have. DO NOT. just wait if there is nobody better.
She made math very easy to understand and was helpful on the days we were in the actual classroom. She wrote the textbook and the test questions were just like the ones she went over in class. Yes, her accent is hard to understand at times, but just pay attention and take good notes. I would take another class with her.
Dr. Kravchuk is a great math professor. She explains the concepts fully, and she allows for an A in the class if you don't skip and complete all of the quizzes and homework. Her accent takes some getting used to, but easy to follow. DON'T SKIP, that includes lecture and lab.
Her accent is hard to understand. It is apparent she does know the material, but teaching is not her strong point. If math does not come easy to you, I would recommend finding a different professor. Without the help from the math program used, I would not have passed this class.
Dr. Kravchuk is a great mathematics professor. It is evident she is knowledgable about the material she teaches. After all, she did write the textbook for this Pre Calculus/Trig course. She does have an accent. It will take a couple lectures to get used to. Overall, I liked her and I would recommend her to anyone looking to take this class.
Dr. Kravchuk is an amazing professor. She is very helpful. She sends weekly emails to keep you on track & ensure you know which assignments are to be completed for the week. Her online lecture videos are easy to follow. Tests are easy. Make sure to do the online practice tests. Has an accent, but easy to understand.
Dr. Kravchuk has a Russian accent so it's really hard to understand what she's saying, so if I didn't already know the material, I probably wouldn't know how to do it. But the homework and tests are easy and if you don't know how to do it, the homework online will explain it to you!
Her lectures are boring and she's hard to understand. Sadly, your attendance is worth points so each class missed is 0/5 points same for lab. The textbook was useless but the access code is needed. Don't take her if you don't have to, that's all I can say. Her English is rough and her voice is quiet.
Professor Kravchuk is so sweet and genuinely cares for her students' success. She records her lessons and posts it with captions due to her heavy accent. Attendance is recorded. The course consists of HW & quizzes each week, plus four tests and a cumulative final. The practice tests help A TON. Nothing to stress over. This class absolutely doable.
Her accent is strong and her voice is low, so paying attention requires max. effort. I would not take her if you didn't take Pre-cal in hs. If you did take PC before, you can sit in the back to sleep or watch Netflix (which made this one of my fav classes of the semester). However, there is a ton of hw, but thats the same for any MA class here.
She is very hard to understand because she has a strong accent and talks fast. Everything is online and she give an opportunity for extra credit at the end of the course. Get a tutor if you struggle in math because she is difficult to understand
The only thing I do not like about this class is the fact that she is accent heavy. She is hard to follow and a fast talker. She also stands in front of the problems so it is hard to see what has been written before she moves on. Her class is self taught and she is forgiving and fair. Overall I wouldn't re-take her only because of the accent.
her accent is very thick and can be difficult to understand, so she made a bunch of videos for each of the lectures that have subtitles so you can read along. those were pretty helpful. she definitely knows the material, she literally wrote the book. if you want to learn math, there are few better suited to teach you, if you can understand her.
I took this class online and found it fairly difficult and I had just come out of precal in high school. Beware: She uses ProctorU... seriously the worst, especially if you have test anxiety. She uploaded lecture videos but it was hard for me to understand her accent.
The math lab was down all day before our test and she never moved the test, and it wasn't the students fault. so if you wanted to study, you couldn't. she doesn't care about her students at all. 0/10
this class is easy to pass as long as you do all the homework and quiz. I took this over the summer, and it was a good idea to get ahead on my math requirements. watching the lectures isn't necessary as long as you know what you're doing, but they're a good way to prepare for the exams.
Hard to understand and very difficult class setup, trust me and look somewhere else
Dr. Kravchuk is a great professor. At first she is difficult to understand, but she is willing to work with you. The grading policy is clear. Online course with assignments every week and a quiz at the end of each week. The assignments are long and tedious. 4 exams and a cumulative final. Do the practice exams because they are similar to the exams!
She is very intelligent. She knows her math! Her lectures are very good to watch. She has subtitles, because her accent is VERY heavy. But she shows her work so you are able to catch on very well. Very forward, and lets you know up front what is expected. I would definitely take her again. There is a lot of work, but in the end it really helps.
Weekly homework was 45-75 questions with 3-7 parts each with a quiz at the end. This was in addition to another HW and quiz on canvas. Tests were impossible seeing as you were only allowed to use your laptops calculator. Barely made a C. Wanted to fail and give up the whole time. She seems sweet but her teaching style helped me none. Dont take.
She is a mediocore professor. She had the best ratings out of the other professors, but her teaching style is hard to understand and she moves very fast when she lectures; therefore it is hard to keep up. I had to teach myself the material, but I recommend getting a tutor. I payed $130 for a book that we did not use, but was manadortary to buy.
Took the online course. Her lectures weren't helpful at all. Homework is anywhere from 40-75 question with multiple parts, sometimes up to 10. Final was 40 question and 250 points, so you miss a question you drop a letter grade. Don't take this course with this professor, your GPA will thank you.
Her accent is very thick. She speaks & teaches entirely too fast. She makes you feel slow & unimportant if you ask a question she deems you should already know the answer to. Can be helpful sometimes but not very hands on. Seek help outside of class if you want to pass.
Kravchuck could be sweet at times, but then again many times she was really rude and the lectures were rushed, in order to end the class early for no reason. Since she did that its hard to learn and you end up having to teach yourself for the homework and there is a lot of it.. I think she is ok but probably wouldnt recommend her
Kravchuk is a good professor for those who need to practice math in order to learn it. The lectures were examples of each problem with her explaining as she went; most of the actual learning comes in the math lab. She was kind and set reasonable deadlines, but this course may be harder for those who have never taken a pre-cal algebra before.
Holy cow there was a lot of homework. It blew my mind the amount of stuff we covered in a single semester. The hardest math class I've taken thus far. However, I had another online class along side this one so if this is your only online class I'm sure it's much easier to stay on top of the homework
I told myself I would wait until the end of the semester before reviewing her but DO NOT take this professor. Lectures are not helpful and the amount of homework is insane. Tests are hard and timed. You could make 100s on all the HW and quizzes but the tests will sink your grade. Save yourself and take someone else or wait another semester.
Paid a bunch of money for a textbook we didn't use. Had to teach myself all of the material because the lectures were not good. Homework is always between 40-78 questions with multiple parts and there is a quiz every week. Do not take this class if you care about your GPA. The tests will sink your grade in the class and theyre timed.
Lectures werent beneficial. You literally have to teach yourself everything. In my opinion, the whole Math Department at UAB is a joke. Were required to buy books and dont use them, and required to buy calculators and cant use them. We do tons of homework and its only worth 5 points, which doesnt help at all with your final grade.
Way too much homework when her lectures suck. Quizzes and homework are between 2-5 pts, and exams can be from 100-250 points. Grades drop easily, never responds to emails, and is the worst class I've taken. I'm usually a straight A student, and I'm close to failing this class. Don't buy the textbook, you won't use it. Be prepared to teach yourself.
One of the worst professors at UAB. She has absolutely zero compassion for her students and doesn't care if you do well in the class or not. She has a thick accent so she is hard to understand. Someone was late to class once and she marked them absent, that is the kind of professor she is. I make good grades but had to fight for this B. DO NOT TAKE
Do not recommend. Professor Kravchuk is a challenging teacher. She teaches strictly by the notes/book she has written out. She typically only does one example of each problem and expects you to understand the homework. Additionally, the tests and quizzes are on the computer and you cannot use your own calculator. Learn to use the computer one.
She knows her stuff. Just reach out to her and the class will be easier. One problem that I have with her lectures is that they are not very thorough, sometimes you are just left waiting for the point of the steps. Can't use our own calc on tests. I have mac, I don't have a good calc and u cant even us a downloaded calc.
You will need to study. The only problem is the professor isn't very good at explaining steps that she might find easy but not the students. The tests are annoying especially since you can't use your own calculator
Not helpful at all. Her lectures look and sound like they were recorded with a potato (they were very low quality, you couldnt even zoom in to look at the numbers). At least she had captions, but they were finicky when I watched from my phone. She also requires limited time group problems and doesnt allow you to finish work ahead of time. 0/10
Some assignments can be time-consuming, but they're generally pretty helpful. Do. The. Practice. Tests. They're exactly like the exams. I really liked that she was straightforward and consistent. The textbook is basically a workbook to follow along with lectures. I used it. I took alg, trig, and precal in HS, and this class was a breeze.
Graded by how many points you can get. Just the (copious amounts of) homework, quizzes and group problems aren't enough to even get you a 50 F. More like a 30, making even the smallest mistake on a test can ruin your grade. I couldn't understand her lecture without captions. Had to teach myself the whole time. Miss the final, won't even make a C-
She is okay. She has a deep accent which is a bit difficult to understand initially but you'll get used to it. If you are respectful she can be very helpful, just don't give her a hard time. Pay attention, the course gets much easier near the end. (I am absolutely awful at math btw). Attendance not required (Due to COVID). DON'T BUY THE BOOK.
Super thick Russian accent so she can be hard to understand at times. She is fair in her grades but I might be biased because I already knew a lot of the material. Proctor U is used for tests (there are only 4 and a final), so if you don't like that I would not suggest her class. There is also kind of a lot of online homework.
Dr. Kravchuk is a bit difficult to understand at first, but is willing to work with you. Email response time is also good. She is unforgiving on late assignments but fair, as everything is pretty much outlined in the syllabus. Practice tests are really long (the last one was 86 questions..?), and took all day.
Dr. Kravchuk has a very thick accent so that takes some getting used to. She was very helpful when I emailed her although I ended up teaching myself a lot of the material. ProctorU is used for every test. You will have to work for this grade, and there is a lot of work involved. If you do not have a good background in math her class may be hard.
She's a decent professor, I feel like sometimes she doesn't understand what the students are asking of her. Her explanations during lectures are okay. She will accuse you of cheating and refuse to listen to you when you bring a problem to her.
In this class, you have to teach yourself everything. If your not good at learning math on your own, dont take her. Almost everything is entirely on MyMathLab and I stopped attending her lectures after a few weeks. Her explanations were not understandable nor helpful. I got an A but I mainly knew this stuff already and it was still hard.
Professor Kravchuk has a very thick accent that can be hard to understand. You will definitely have to put in work for this class and teach yourself sometimes because she is hard to understand or unclear. I did well in this class only because I learned most of it in high school. She does give notes for each section which is helpful.
Professor Kravchuk was nice but I, personally, did not understand the way she taught. There is a lot of homework every week. The textbook was not helpful. The class was fine but I definitely wouldn't take it again, and definitely not online again.
you have to teach yourself a lot, so if thats something you struggle with steer clear of this class. She also left a lot of pretty rude comments on my submissions that didnt offer any help, they were just things like did you seriously think xyz could be the answer. Homework and quizzes are due every week and there are 4 tests plus a final
Her lectures are really hard to understand and she gives A Lot of work.
This class is hard for me bc she is very soft spoken & lectures really fast. I teach myself everything outside of class. There is a good amount of homework & quizzes. Make sure to take her practice tests; they are just like the test. I can tell she knows what she is doing, but I do not learn anything from her. Don't take this class if you need more
She has a very thick accent which made her lectures hard to understand and the mask doesnt help. Ive had to teach myself everything in the class so far and she is very unforgiving when it comes to grading. Group discussions are claimed to not be graded for accuracy but she does. dont take her
I personally liked professor K as a person. However, this course was very difficult. You do not get to use a handheld calculator, so beware! The calculator work must be done on a computer which is near impossible. You will basically be teaching yourself majority of this course. If you are not very very very good at math, do not take math at UAB!
I had Professor Kravchuk this past semester and I loved the class. She does have a heavy accent, so sometimes it was difficult to understand the lectures. You also can't use your own calculators on quizzes or tests so get used to the computer one. Overall, I loved this class and how the homeworks and quizzes of each week are due on Fridays.
She really wants you to pass and she gives tons of HW but that really helps with learning the material better and keeps you accountable. I would recommend her, and you will pass if you do the work and could get an A if you don't procrastinate
I did NOT put enough focus on this class as I should have. I recommend taking it in person because the online freedom allowed me to ignore my assignments and wait until the end of the week. I disliked Proctor U because it would crash during my tests, however, she is a caring professor who helped me during a tough time and was understanding.
Professor Kravchuks lectures were hit or miss. She's an alright professor. This course however... this was the hardest, most content heavy class I've ever taken. Would not recommend anybody who needs this class to take it at UAB.
I recommend taking in person if math isn't your strong subject. She gives lots of homework and quizzes, tests are through proctoru. It's hard to understand her prerecorded lectures so after the first exam I didn't listen to any lectures. Tests are exactly like practice test. Overall, she is helpful and responds back pretty quick.
Very easy class with ample extra credit. Exam reviews are pretty much replicas of how the actual exam will be. Dr. Kravchuk is very thorough in her lectures and works lots of practice problems. If you do all her extra credit and do well on all exams you could be in a position to get a 0 on the Final and still get an A in the course.
Professor Karvchuk is very kind and was helpful when I needed assistance. The only thing I wish she would do is update her lecture videos. They are old and the quality is not that great, but other than that if you do the studying and put in the work you will get a good grade.
I don't have many complaints about Dr. Kravchuk the only thing is that it is difficult to understand her accent and her lectures weren't really helpful. If you can get past these things you'll do fine but if you cant be prepared to teach yourself how to do the work.
Terrible at responding emails. Do not recommend. Not helpful!!
Dr. Kravchuk's lectures can be tricky to follow, but with dedication and tools like Unstuck study, you can succeed. The course is challenging, so be prepared to teach yourself. With hard work, you can pull through.
do NOT take her class. her accent is very thick and she talks very fast so it's difficult to understand her. the lectures are useless in my opinion and i've had to teach my self every single thing throughout this class so far. don't take her class.
Was completely online with no instructor instruction. You could watch videos on Pearson but nothing from the instructor. You had weekly group problems that you had to solve. The whole syllabus is open from the beginning so you can get ahead. Def be self motivated and good at teaching yourself if you take the online version.
Online math 106 is easy since pearson gives you everything, you will be provided lectures and the homework tells you exactly how to work out every problem and how to understand where the numbers are coming from. I truly recommend taking this course online so you don't waste time in person. Everything is due on Saturday's besides a few problems.
To keep it short and simple: Beware of ProctorU, it sometimes won't work so you'll have to take the test in person. No scientific calculators so get accustomed to using desmos. If you have the option to take someone else, do it. That's all I'd have to say.
