He is probably the worst professor Ive taken at S&T, lectures literally never made any sense to the course, gives 2 tutorials that feels like a toddler created it to help explain the lab assignments. If you dont already have full knowledge of the class before taking it dont expect to actually learn anything. He puts in grades at the last minute.
Dr. Anklesaria is not yet experienced to teach senior engineering courses. I understand he is a new professor, but the lectures, were very lacking, there were countless times when an equation would be mistyped or a completely wrong equation would be given and later corrected after assignments were submitted. Should be teaching freshman courses.
Lectures are a complete mess and full of errors. We were correcting a provided formula sheet during the first exam. Is also basically unreachable unless you schedule a meeting weeks in advance. Knows his lecture material but just can't teach and follows every rule strictly no matter what
I took him for CAD class. He uses NX not a relevant software like Inventor. Not only is his course software irrelevant, but his actual hw outlines are underdeveloped and over-graded. HW and Lectures don't match. Told class when he was backlogged in grades to not consult anyone if you had issues with grades, If that's not a red flag idk what is.
Completely online asynchronous, lecture videos were good but sometimes left out good information for assignments. The mini quiz homeworks were based off lecture videos, but the information was almost impossible to find in the videos. MUST pay close attention to those. Otherwise, easy A
1. He teaches CAD w/ Siemens NX, which is irrelevant and embarrassing to bring up with potential employers. 2. To run the software on your home computer, you must contact him for "permission." And yet, he's unreachable most of the time. 3. The homework varies wildly from trivial to near impossible based on the lectures. I do not recommend him.
This professor assigns material that he has not taught and you're just supposed to figure it out. This year, he showed us how to do two simple codes on arduino and then assigned a complex assignment that took hours to figure out. I found myself rarely being taught anything. Altogether the class is not terrible but the teaching should be better.
He uses recordings of 2019 software when we're given 2015 software. There are no youtube tutorials to help you. He will never get back within less than 4 days by email. Chegg cannot help you. You are screwed unless you know CAD before hand. He never gives you a rubric. Leaves out dimensions on that get graded. Never is in during office hours. 0/5
His instructions on assignments are unclear. Never once have seen a rubric to know what I am getting graded on until the assignment is graded. Which by the way, he forced his sole TA to do all the grading. Never gave us that TA's contact for help as (Prof.) was never reachable. Literally feel setup to fail from the get go.
One lecture at the start of the semester acting like the cockiest man ever saying "I will be the reason your future jobs hire you". What a JOKE. He used a software newer than we had access to for every tutorial. He personally never helped me with any assignment or grading at all. It was the sole TA who saved my grade
I have never had a more unprofessionally setup class in my life. He gives us recordings using 2019 software when he only allows us to use 2015 software, so the tutorials he gives us do not help. Not to mention youtube has no videos or tutorials to help you. He has never been there during office hours, and he never helps when emailing.
He gave us 4 days to do the final which covers everything from class. When every assignment was 1-3 weeks of time to do. Not to mention the fact that he will never email you valuable information. Your best bet is to hope your TA is nice. Do not expect a rubric for anything. The quizzes will be terrible and so overly specific it drives you crazy
This class is 1 credit hour. I put in at least 10 hours of work a week per assignment because of the lack of instruction from my professor. My TA taught me how to use NX 2015 because all the videos he gave us were using NX 2019 which is completely different to use when it comes to the harder tools. Seriously lazy for not re-recording videos.
I had two TAs teach me MATLab over a 3 credit hour class and I got a B never having coding before. I had never used CAD prior to this class and got a D because in this 1 credit hour class I spent double the time I did for MATLab because the professor gave us tutorials using a newer version of the software, and there are no youtube tutorials
Swapped majors from MechE to EMan just because this guy is a head professor of the department and did such a poor and unprofessional job with a 1 credit hour class. 1 credit hour. Which should be more considering most people including myself spent upwards of 10 hours a week in this class. Seriously unprofessional. Almost left S&T bc of this class.
Lectures use newer software than provided and he rambles throughout them with unnecessary content for the assignments. Never reachable by email or during office hours. The fact that I knew a lead on a design team to help me with this class was the only reason I passed with a B. Seriously he cannot teach a preschooler the ABCs with his rambles
Most unprofessional PhD holding professors. Poor teaching skills and rambles during the videos which use a different version of the software that we are given. I know over 10 people who personally dropped the class early because they failed assignments due to no rubrics given on how he would grade anything. Honestly worst professor at S&T
I thought Physics I for engineers would be my hardest class this semester with 4 credit hours. Nope I have spent more time on this 1 credit hour class working with only my TA not the professor at all because he is constantly unavailable. Seriously unprofessional. Did not even give us the TAs contact info. Was never at office hours.
Dude if you are going to do a CAD class use the same version of software honestly. Your videos have a newer software and you ramble throughout the majority of them on unused features in our assignments. Seriously I thought the joke would be over then you made the final over 4 days which 3 coincided with the weekend before finals. Pathetic
If you get a helpful email response, consider yourself the first likely. I always had to go to the TA. The prof was never available, and this is an asynchronous course. Of which the TA does all the grading. The prof uses videos with a newer software, so they barely help unless it's the basics. If you haven't used CAD before find someone who has.
Worst professor at S&T. Never gave a rubric. Forced the TA to grade everything. Gave one unhelpful lecture which he explained the syllabus. Never responded within 3 days on an email. Always had to go to the TA for help. Seriously made me contemplate leaving S&T because he is one of my department heads and is such a poor professor
Where to start. This class is 1 credit hour. You will put in 5+ a week regardless of the assignment. His lectures are half filled with rambles and he uses newer software than you are given by the school. Honestly left S&T after I was failing this class in a week due to him alone. Every other class was fine, but he is a lead in my major's department
More unreachable than my father who walked out when I was 5. I was hoping an engineering degree would bring him back, but it appears that this prof I am currently writing about decided that his job was pointless and that he would be unresponsive, post lectures with the wrong software generation, and taught me nothing unlike my TA. Thank you, Chase.
Everything I can think of pretty much has been said. He is very egotistical to the point where I feel it is narcissism. There is honestly a reason he has at the moment a 0% would retake rating. I have never had a professor who actively decided to be so unprofessional with office hours, emails, and just an entire class in general. Unprofessional
I lost respect for this school because of this man. He honest to God made me switch to Purdue because he literally cannot teach a CAD class. I would not even say he attempted to during my semester. He never responded to emails, and the TA was the only person to help me. I did not have the contact info for the TA yet the prof said he would post it
Bolon could teach this class better. If you know how bad she did in chem1310 you would know. But if not here's some context. Imagine the most egotistical person you met became a CAD professor and decided to record themselves using a newer software than you are given and he grades on dimensions that he does not give you. It is a fire never put out
I genuinely did not think that a university could hire a teacher that acts like an elementary school teacher, but low and behold here is this professor. He never emails you back anything helpful. If you have no friends who know CAD good luck youtube WILL NOT HELP. Oh and the lectures he records use a newer version of the software. Good luck
The only positive thing about this class is that I passed with a B due to knowing someone who knew how to use CAD. Why'd you only get a B you might ask? You are never given a rubric, and also your TA will do all the grading when the professor decides to appoint one. Don't expect an email reply from the professor, and hope your TA is good
I never expected this class to be this hard. This professor made my drive to be an engineer fade as he managed to overcomplicate an intro to CAD class to the point it became more than a 1 credit hour class. I honestly wish I could give him lower than a 1/5 he is the only professor at S&T that deserves it
Actually made me dream up if there could be a worse professor. I took MATLab at the same time with two TAs teaching it, and they were more accessible outside of class, and even helped me with CAD more than my own professor. If that doesn't show you the character of this professor I do not know what will
I dropped S&T because of him. Need I say more that is not mentioned in other comments on this page>?
I never thought someone could be lazier than me taking a class til this man was a professor and managed to teach it even lazier. He does not post lectures using the same software you have access to. If you want access to it hope you have $123.99 a month to do so. Good luck if you do not get a TA
I challenge you to find a worse professor at this university. His ego grows exponentially by the day. He never emails you anything helpful. My parents cannot even fathom how I have a professor this bad to the point they do not believe me. If someone else teaches this class take it. It's way more than 1 credit hour of a class
I decided that my engineering degree was not worth it after taking this class. Honestly have not regretted dropping out of college after taking this class
He set the bar so low for being a professor it could be considered a tripping hazard in hell. I wish I was joking, but the lack of communication between the professor and any student was unacceptable. He told me to "suck it up you're in college" after complaining that his lectures use newer software than we had access to with more features. No joke
Imagine you are asked to give an Intro to CAD class. Would you on the first and only lecture tell your students, "I will not respond to any of your emails for any reason. Please contact your TA." Then he preceded to not give us said TA's contact information all semester. Seriously considered leaving S&T over him. Left MechE because of him.
Honestly never felt like a professor wanted me to fail more. He never is there during office hours so do not even bother wasting time that you could have spent studying for Physics II or Statics like I did. Honestly he was somehow worse than he was in ME1761 last semester.
This class is like one of those accidents gone wrong at a trash dump where it turns into self collapsing radioactive waste. That is how to sum up this class. It is a complete mess and the professor caused it, and actively ignores the problem that is this class
This should have been an easy class to pass except the professor will not help you nor will any video online. I feel bad for any freshman that gets thrown in this class because they are going to drop out instantly if they think that all professors act like this one
Nothing can prepare you for the professor you are about to encounter. I thought my grade schoolteachers were terrible with how they taught us, but alas this prof has proved me wrong. He sits not in his office, never near his computer so never expect him to help you. You will fail this if you do not know someone who knows CAD or talk to the TA
Dropped this class due to a lack of posting grades so I was failing in my midterm grade off of 2 assignments. Seriously consider taking a teaching class before you come back to teaching. You started off with a 4000 level class and cannot even manage to teach an 1000 level class.
Honestly lost faith in the Mechanical Engineering department knowing he was a major professor in there. Seriously left for Purdue because of this class being so bad as an intro to CAD class. Fix your work ethic, quit posting old lectures because you do not feel like rerecording. You only are hurting your students.
Gives the easiest problems as examples then the homework is 3 times as hard resulting in me to use chegg. I cannot believe that this man is employed with how poor his work ethic is and how lazy he is about helping his students. Seriously you wouldn't be complaining about people dropping if you actually taught them
I only passed because I have used CAD before. None of his videos help so you will have to learn the software on your own as youtube will have 0 helpful information. Good luck, and I am truly sorry if this is your first CAD class
The final straw for me at S&T was this teacher and his classes. It took me two times to pass ME1761 with him which is the class before this and his poor teaching habits have gone unchecked for too long to the point where it became worse each semester. Goodbye S&T
A year later, but I have to say this was my hardest class at S&T solely because of the professor. Seriously glad he was replaced for this class and hope he is doing better with his ego as well
Lectures are pointless, so if you never have CAD hope you know someone who does or that he posts your TA's contact info. Otherwise good luck putting way more than 1 credit hour a week worth of work into this class. He assumes everyone knows CAD. Guess what not everyone does. He doesn't even attempt to teach you in any capacity
He has a 0% retake percentage at the moment of writing this. Below or above is the reasons for why. Seriously an unchecked ego that manifested itself into a teacher that treated this class like it was a joke to him meanwhile I am trying to earn a degree to make a living. I feel ripped off
This should have been a blowoff class, but this professor decided to blowoff teaching us and made me put more time per week into this than I did into Calc II or Physics I this semester. Seriously for an Intro to CAD course that is sad and is just an honest reflection of a terrible professor who made me feel like I wasted my money
Half of the content in his lectures is random ramblings over features you do not need to use. Also just wait until your second grade comes in and you realize he did not give you every dimension for the assignment so you lose 37 points because of a professor error. Want your grade changed? It will not happen. He will not email you back anything ever
This class is from hell itself. Seriously I cannot think of a worse form of torture than having an intro class for something I have no basis in then to have my professor not even teach me just adds onto the total amount of FUN this class is. It wasted so many hours of my life I wish I could get back, but instead alas I wasted my money on this class
Worst professor I've ever had. Not accessible outside of class, and way too much work for a 1 credit hour class.
This professor is condescending and egotistic. He has verbally communicated to the class that he will ignore emails if he does not think they are relevant. He is an extremely hard grader, and he makes it even more difficult with absurdly long lectures that include a lot of rambling. I have had a CAD class before and consider this class difficult.
I could never find him during office hours, or find a helpful email response from him. I honestly felt like I paid him to do nothing this semester considering he posted videos using newer software than we have access to. I don't know if the university just decided that the 2019 version was too expensive for this semester, but this class sucked
I cannot understand how to use arduinos if you do not explain it to me and then tell everyone to go talk to the TA who we cannot even contact because you won't post his information. Did not even know we had a TA til week 9 which is why I dropped. Poor performance, I hope there is a different prof next semester
Your grade will be as random as picking a number between 1-50 or 1-100. I know people who had co-ops where they also did not used the praised NX that this prof claims is used by all our future employers. I was honestly laughed at when I said I was learning NX at career fair. Seriously poor work ethic when it comes to lectures as well
Had to drop this class because the lectures do not cover everything you need to know for the homework, and if you do not know everything that you should learn during this class beforehand you will fail. He will never make an attempt to explain anything in person or over email. Did not know I had a TA until after I had dropped the class
Imagine an asynchronous class where your teacher reuses old lectures that have a newer version of the software than you have access to. Anytime you email him it takes him at least 100 hours to respond if not more. Oh also found out I had a TA just before the final reading this website. Thanks so much for the help this semester. The worst prof ever
Only passed because I attended the zoom sessions after finding out they existed week 8. I feel like this class is setup to make freshmen who think engineering is a brilliant degree lose all hope. Seriously an Intro to CAD class should not have been this difficult, and I have used SolidWorks before. Poor performance of a professor overall
"Introduction to the mechanical design process with emphasis on creativity and design visualization." A direct quote off of the course description. You will never be creative in this class as you will spend so much time trying to understand everything that he poorly explains. Still do not know how to properly use arduinos. I passed by 2 points
"A systemic approach to design is introduced, emphasizing quality design, concept identification and selection, design life cycle, project management, failure analysis, and engineering ethics." This is a direct quote from the course description. None of this happens in this course. You will lose brain cells overstressing this class. Good luck
My dream of becoming an engineer died when I took this class. This professor proved to me that all he wanted to do was nothing. Literally do not think this professor has gotten back to me in less than a week via email. I dropped out of S&T after this semester because this was a 1 hour intro to CAD class this prof made utterly a disaster
If you expect this 1 credit hour class to be easy expect otherwise. You will spend more time per credit hour on this class than any other class during the semester you take this. Seriously could never reach the professor to the point where I had to use the TA and one of my friends who was also struggling through this with me.
Drop it before it is too late
If I had known how poorly he would grade assignments 4-9 I would have dropped, but he had them graded after November 17th which was the last day to drop. Also assignment 4 was due Oct. 3 assigned two weeks prior. The reason being he forced his sole TA to do his job for no pay. Worst case scenario for a class and professor
Anklesaria is an egotistical and unfair professor. He treats his students as if we aren't paying to learn and succeed. I have been left unanswered by Anklesaria so many times it's impossible to keep count. The only time I have every received help with any assignment or question is from a single T.A.
This should have been my easiest class this semester, but the rest of this page can tell you that. I seriously wish I could get a refund for this class because this is not a professor. This is an employed slacker that made it through this school somehow. I feel disappointed with college and swapped to trade school after this semester. Disappointing
Avoid taking classes with Anklesaria. He doesn't respond to emails, has taken over a month to grade assignments in his 1761 class, and grades harshly. The tutorials are unfortunate, with Ankle stuttering and struggling to get NX tools to work at times, and using a newer version of NX that looks different than what he requires students to use.
How do you manage to make the assignments more complicated than the final. Also the multiple choice part had a question that made no grammatical sense at all. Hope I got it right. Also I still haven't gotten my grades back for Assignments 5-9 at the moment of writing this. No response on why yet
Get ready to watch youtube tutorials for this guy's classes because you will not obtain the required amount of information just from watching his lectures. Keep in mind this class was a 1 credit hour class that required 3 hours of lectures a week in addition to the 6 plus hours it will take to finish a majority of homework assignments.
Before listening to/watching his lectures, knock yourself up with caffeine! This guy is literally the most monotone prof I have ever had. I could listen to his NX tutorials instead of the Calm app help me fall asleep at night
The teacher's English is not very good. They are super dull and hard to listen to. Will not work with you if you have problems.
Good luck taking quizzes with such broken English the questions don't make sense. This class was online, and the lecture videos were filled with such little enthusiasm it begs the viewer to ask whether this professor cares about his job. For a one credit hour class, expect to put in at least 12 hours a week. Don't take Yezad if you can help it.
This class that Dr. Anklesaria teaches is riddled with so many quality control issues. The glider lab is probably the worst offender of this being that the report requirements are not consistent with the syllabus. You are given weeks to write a report but good luck doing it without the rubric because he won't give you it until 2 days before its due
The lack of preparation that the professor puts into this class is clearly shown. When performing a lab there are often no requirements given until 3 days before the report is due. The labs themselves are incredibly unscientific. The professor also has a habit of blaming the bad curriculum instead of realizing that he is the one responsible for it.
Tutorials are long and unhelpful with excessive rambling; you will need to seek other resources in order to complete assignments if you are unfamiliar with NX. Takes way more time than a 1 credit hour class should.
ME1761 is a 1 credit hour class that takes away 8 hours of your life every other week. The class just sucks, but it is doable to get a B or A. You'll have to put maybe 3 credit hours worth of free time to it, but you can get it done. Grade boundaries are okay with clearness, but still vague on specifics. The class is very useful in the long run tbh
This is a ONE CREDIT CLASS and the homework took longer to complete than most of my final papers ever have. It might've taken more time to do the assignments for the class than for my capstone. DO NOT take 1761 with this guy.
This corse is a horrible introduction to cad, grading is also incredibly slow. The process to turn in cad assignments is needlessly complex.
Horrible
This professor is very poor at communicating criteria and rules for projects. He is very set in his opinions and is very full of himself. For group projects, many of his rules and guidelines do not make sense from an industry perspective, for example, not being allowed to control a cnc machine with g code.
Literally the worst professor on campus. His instructions are abysmal for projects, horribly unspecific, and grades along rules which were not specified in the assignments.
By far the worst professor on campus. He frequently refuses to tell students the criterion for projects until they are due. Some projects, requiring 50+ hours of work, were not posted until 3 days before they were due and are worth ~ 30% of the course grade.
There is a reason this guy has so many negative reviews. Not a difficult professor, but does not respect his students or their time.
Class is not the hardest of all time, but requires a lot of reading to truly understand what is going on. Many things covered in the class. Tests are reasonable multiple choice questions to check understanding. Made major changes in the syllabus midway through the semester which wasn't nice. The lab portion of this class was interesting.
intentionally leaves out critical information on technical drawings students use in class. likes to take off points for small mistakes. scheduled a final for students to take over the weekend with no prior notice. extremely unprofessional and pompous in class.
Definitely the worst professor in the Mechanical department. Repeatedly assigns work with zero clarifications on the submission requirements and then ridicules students for not knowing information he never presented (keep in mind no textbook for this course either) because he is preparing them for "the industry". Also the only prof for this course.
Frequently made decisions that couldn't be justified outside of simply wanting to make students lives harder. Pop quizzes frequently and would announce large assignments at 7am to be due by midnight. Seems like he just wants this class to be hard and actively attempts to make it harder all the time. Grading scale is also never fully explained.
I would rather change my major than have to take classes with this professor
This professor is the reason I changed my major. This course is an online course and he held a meeting before the semester started and the first thing he said was, "Don't bother emailing me, I won't respond." He is a lazy professor and would make his TAs run the course. His homework assignments are way too long for a one credit hour class.
Instructions on papers will be contradictory and confusing. Grading takes far too long so you don't get feedback on a paper until after the next paper is due, then they'll take off points for things you couldn't have fixed without feedback. Half the time it isn't even valid feedback because AIAA changed the rules and no one read the revisions.
Grades really depend on who's grading, and the feedback you get is minimal. The instructor gives out a guide, but if you just stick to it you will end up with a bad grade. Also, you might find yourself having to argue against false plagiarism claims, which seem to come from a flawed AI that the instructor hasn't checked.
Worst professor at this school. Over half of the assignments were not graded at the end of the semester when final grades came out. This is my third class with him, and he has sucked as a professor for all of them, but the silver lining is you will always get an A if you turn something in. Terrible to get a hold of, and unprofessional.
Dr. Anklesaria is one of the worst professors of the MAE department. The Experimental Methods courses (both 1 and 2) are entirely report writing and do not have any basis being called "Experimental Methods". The reports are horrible, and despite being in a group, it is HEAVILY enforced that you do not work with other students on ANY basis.
Tough class and professor, extremely long homework assignments can take up to 12-14 hours each. Average around 6 hours for each. Can see his excitement for structures, cares about students but is extremely tough through his assigned hw and exams. Usually the final is the easiest exam, exams 1/2 are very hard. Good luck
A lot of his terminology is incorrect to what the industry actually does, as well as he has a really bad ego
Overall just a terrible professor, and to be honest, I'm not even sure how he's still teaching here. His lack of respect for his students is appalling, he doesn't grade assignments in a timely manner, doesn't read his emails, and he is incredibly full of himself, constantly bragging about his PHD. Avoid taking any of his classes.
He can be a tough grader, but you can get a lot of points on exams if you pay careful attention to "sneaky" facts and tips in lectures. Interesting and engaging lectures. Homeworks are often very difficult and/or annoying, but free response exam problems will be straightforward and rarely "out to get you".
Zero course structure All of the assignments were graded in the last 2 weeks of the course Did not follow the syllabus Zero on-time communication Coursework was posted several weeks late apart from the first assignment
Professor is extremely particular and picky. Homework is overly long for a one-credit course. Use unstuck AI and stay on top of assignments to succeed in this class.
Not very many assignments and tutorial videos are terrible. Audio cuts out in some of them so you don't know what's going on and will say one thing and then do another.
There was only 4 assigments so if you mess up one you got screwed over. The videos are long and not good at explaining the concepts to make the pieces you need. There isn't a rubric shown so you have to read carefully to make sure you make the part correct. Nothing was posted for a full month between assignments 1&2. The TA's run the class
Class is run entirely by TAs and assignments were rarely posted. However, the head TA when I took the class was amazing and helped me out so much since I ran into issues with grading more than once. This class wasn't overly bad if you have prior experience using a 3D modeling software.
Not great, slow to give out information, doesn't give out all information and didn't grade final assignment
If you don't have a religion, pick one and start praying.
