Ying is a good professor for chemistry. She cares about your grade and wants to help you succeed if she can. That being said, it is not easy but no chemistry class is. She doesn't offer extra credit but 50 points of your grade comes from just going to class. She posts all the powerpoints and the tests and recitation worksheets before the final exam

I HIGHLY suggest taking advantage of her recitation time since she gives out review packets for the chapters during that time and works the problems with you. I'm even taking her again for CH105!

I had Ying for CH104 + CH105, and my opinion of her has gotten more positive over these last two semesters. It's rough figuring out how to study for her exams. I think it's easier if you teach yourself the material (i.e. read the textbook/study the PPTS) and ace the exams, than to take super detailed notes during the lecture. Be prepared to study!!

I was heavily debating between Leung and Liu- I read about the style of Leung's teaching that made me weary, so I went with Ying- and this was the best decision! She explains slower, & writes examples on the board. She is kind and will always try to help. A genuine, sweet lady. I've heard her tests are easier than Leung. So glad I picked Liu!

Dr. Liu was an okay lecturer but really hard to understand. She even caused some lab groups to mess up by giving wrong instructions, so I wish someone more experienced taught the lecture. Your experience really depends on your TA — I got lucky and had a great one!

She only gives the lab lectures, and those are useless but you should do your prelab during these times. Lab experience depends on TA. The final is tough-ish, you gotta really look back at reports/and 1 previous exam pdf floating around. Make sure you know your relevant structures (caffeine, banana oil, acetic acid etc). She's nice tho and sweet.

Nice professor, poor lecturer. She wasn't very thorough on many topics, and I often found myself looking for youtube videos that related to lecture topics instead of relying on her vague explainations. I didn't enjoy her lectures, but I did appreciate some of the material that I learned from her.

I really liked Dr. Liu. She is so sweet and likes to make the class laugh. Her lectures are good and easy to follow. Attendance is not technically mandatory, but attending all the lectures makes the exams a lot easier. The exams aren't bad if you pay attention and take good notes. The language barrier was not a problem at all.

Great professor. She doesn't overcomplicate the subject, and her practice tests are just like the real ones! She gives you everything you need to be successful in the class.

Organic chem is just a difficult class, it's not the professor. She gives 3 random attendance quizzes that end up being 15 points added to your grade calculation which helps SO much. She drops 1 test. Her accent is not that bad if you pay attention. You have to go to class and study hard, but it is very possible to get an A in the class.

Sweetheart but she is so hard to understand. Even though she uses the microphone attached to shirt, in the huge lecture halls she sounds so quiet. SI sessions are always available which helps. Not the worst prof ever but if you get try to get Diane!!

Come to class you'll be set. Practice exams are very similar to tests. In lecture and recitation she will say what the tests are on. She is very nice, and don't listen to the other reviews I promise she is not difficult to understand.

Dr. Liu is very nice, and the class isn't difficult as long as you put in the effort. Her exams are just like the practice exams and recitations. Although her accent is hard to understand at times, she's really not bad like all of the reviews say.

When I tell you I could talk about her forever, I truly mean it—she is a very sweet lady. BUT I cannot for the life of me understand a single thing she says. Going to lecture is genuinely pretty pointless. I had to teach myself every single concept. For the sake of your sanity DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!

She does have an accent, but she writes on board as she talks, so it was never a problem. She is flexible with the tested material, and won't rush to fit stuff into the planned time, but rather just adjust what's on the test. Very clear with expectations, but I did do a lot of learning on my own outside of the class. STUDY!! and you will be fine!

She was honestly a great teacher. Everyone complains about her accent, but it's not that hard to understand her. The class is hard just because the material is difficult and there are very few things that count towards your grade. As long as you pay attention to the lectures, study a lot before tests, and do the homework you will be fine.

She has an accent, but is isn't hard to understand at all. Just pay attention at lectures because similar questions will be on test. She literally gives you what to study. This course is easy, just go to lectures and put some time in to study the resources she provides. Fast paced lectures, but she excludes material she doesnt cover from the tests.

There is definitely a strong language barrier with Ms. Liu; it definitely made me struggle. Class isn't mandatory at all, and the practice exams are essentially and sometimes are the exact same problems as the exams. As long as you put the work in and srudy outside of class, you're fine.

Dr. Liu is very sweet and cares about her students. Lectures are not mandatory but I recommend going as she often tells you what you need to know. A bit of a language barrier but she writes down everything she says. Her tests are not made to trick you and are pretty straightforward and you get a drop which is nice.

Some people say they can't understand her, which does not matter since she does not directly teach much. The videos of how to do the labs and slides are uploaded. She also provides a very detailed study guide for the final. For the lab reports, upload the slides and grading criteria to Chat GPT, and get it to check if you missed anything.
