He cares about his students. Takes the time to learn everyone's names. Tests are difficult and he assigns hw (all professors should). Always has a good joke.
He's a tough professor. Gives alot of hw and his exams are hard. He always has good jokes.

His test are really hard, gives a lot of homework and worst of all doesn't know how to teach. You're likely to fail if you can't study on your own. Dont choose him.
He does not teach! He only goes over problems in class and since each problem is different you dont really know the rules unless you sit down and learn yourself. However, the book is no help. Take Giourgi(misspelled)
He fumbles at explaining sometimes but makes a good effort to teach every student. Gives lots of problems for practice which resembles exam. <~ this should be enough to learn the material, or at least get a good grade.
He really tried to help everyone. By the end of the year he'll know everyone by name. Tests are not difficult, as long as you do homework. His explanations are somewhat confusing, but ask questions and he'll try to help.

Was really disappointed--he is better at telling corny jokes than teaching statistics. He knows a lot, very smart, but can not teach and gets really agitated if you ask a question. His tests seem easy--but he always finds some quirk to lower your grade.

He's a very sweet man, he really tries to help you if you do'nt do well but only if you TRY to understand the course. If you do your homeworks, and really try to do well in the class, you'll definitely get an A...Just let him know that you're trying

A very sweet old man, is not very good at teaching, few students understand him, but he curves like crazy, and most people end up with high grades. The material is not that difficult so if you read the book you will be fine, and he's funny.
Funny old guy; makes more sense than you think he does once you do the problems he assigns and think back to what he tried to teach earlier; curves nicely; always there to answer questions; teaches some good life lessons; overall: definitely worthwhile.

he is really easy and funny guy. Assings a lot of homework, but you don't have to do it (he goes over it in class). His curves are crazy, two midterms(dropping lowest grade), and final. It was the easiest class that i ever had.
He is not a good prof. If u are interested in doing stats at the next level, this class is not for u. He needs some stats class, he gets confused with certain subjects. Honestly I would never recommend anyone to take his class.

This guy was GREAT! He has this old-timer sense of humor which is priceless. I found the class pretty straight-forward but I guess maybe you have to have a knack for math. But regardless, I do feel that he found ways to answer questions in a simple way for people who did not udnerstand.

Most ppl tend to blame the prof for not teaching, but form observing the class, the ppl tat complain are the ones tat are not paying attention!! He knos the material and can certainly teach it. If you pay attention, do the hw he assigns, and practice u should be just fine. He covers if overall avg is bad. Ch 6 is killer so pay extra attention!

Hes very a smart stupid funny kinda guy. Gets easily aggravated if asked a serious question. Is always in a rush to move along to new material even if the class doesnt agree. Three exams, one final. However gives ridiculous curves.

Here is the truth: If you go to class every day, do your homework every day, and he knows you are trying, you can get at least a B+. Many students get mad at him bc he goes really fast and exam grades are low. But you would be surprised by the curve when you recieve your final grade. If he likes you, you are guaranteed to have a agood grade.
I agree with the previous coment: if you go to class and do the homework he'll curve your grade. One thing that kind of bothered me was the fact that he picks favourites: if he likes you he'll answer your questions and help you during the test, if not, you can forget about it. Try to sit in the first few rows in the center and pretend that you care
Sabban is a very old funny dude. If u show up and do ur hws, and PARTICIPATE*** he will for sure like you. If he likes u ur grade will get a triple curve. But he curves everyone's grades. At first u will hate the class and it will seem like he iw the worst prof ever, towards the end of semester u will begin to really like him. Ask him questions!

He is so funny! I love him. He makes jokes and goes over most of the homework. The textbook he uses in the graduate statistics class is great. He can be a tough grader. If you get one thing wrong and use it in the next part of the problem, he will take points off again. But he's so nice!

Poor communication skills. Seems to have a slightly bi-polar personality. He has high knowledge of the material, but since English is not his first language it is difficult to understand him. He switched test styles mid-semester.
He has a lot of energy and is very loud,but he's a nice guy. You're allowed four abscences. Do the homework. Tests are not too difficult but grading is not fair; he takes points off for the most ridiculous things. Test format did a complete 180 half way through the semester. He curves. Easy B, tough A.

Funny guy but politically incorrect and irrational. Insults everyone, but jokes made the class more interesting. Exam grades are lousy but curves heavily. Participate in class and he'll love you. Not very helpful, but just do and understand the homework and you will be fine.

This professor is great! He is funny, yet sometimes his jokes can get offensive(you really have to have a sense of humor).I think he is extremely fair. His first test was a joke! He takes his questions directly from the textbook. He gives questions that he didn’t assign as HW so practice those. Try to put up HW questions on board, he will like you.
He is easily the worst professor I have ever had. You cannot understand what he is saying 75% of the time. He has no lesson plans so you just do questions out of the book for the class. Professor Sabban is highly disorganized, tests have many formula errors for the final. He leaves it up to the TA to do most of the work. For the most part, I found my tests were misgraded. His english skills were extremely poor. He picks favorites and if you aren't one of them just keep quiet in class. He will find a way to pick on you either way.
Funny guy. Do the HW and pay attention in class. Practice the formulas and the HW and you will do great. Also participating in class will get you an A but not for everyone. If he knows you are there by attendance then you are either getting an A or failing. He has problems with decimals and math but if you know what you are doing you will catch it

Get ready to have a horrible semester! If you have a chance drop the class do it as soon as possible. The Professor can't solve his own problems yet expects us too. He is better off being a language teacher then a stat prof.You will see why.If you do have take him make sure to have a tutor because you are not going to learn anything in his class.
I didn't pay attention to anything he said and strictly took notes and practiced out of the textbook. Practiced about 5 hours a week and took notes on reading about 1-2hrs. Didnt understand anything he said. Attendance Mandatory. Check your work vs his every so often. I got As on every test, though most ppl got Cs or worse.

Okay, I took this professor. BIG MISTAKE!!! He says he'll curve, and he doesn't. He favors student who speak his language. Grades incorrectly. Makes students do hours of hw, collects it, and doesn't give it back (so you do not know how you did.) Told me I will get an A, gave me a D+. (FYI: I got an A in PreCal and Cal and B+ in Acc.) He is OK. Just do homeworks and you will get an A or at least B+. He even tells you what will be on exam, and does almost identical problems in the class. First exam is easiest and it covers simple undergrad stat. so do not miss a chance for an easy A on first and second exam. Final is not cumulative and it is more complicated.
He is OK guy. Very smart, speaks at least 5 languages, and he is patient and willing to help. Just take him and do homeworks...you can skip HW's in Excel (ch 1-3), because they take a lot of time and they are not important for exam.

BUT he genuinely wants you to learn and cares. He goes around the room to tell you to repeat what was taught but its to help you remember. he's not the worst professor.

He is very difficult to understand, so i suggest teaching it to yourself or get a tutor. Even with that said i really liked his class, and is an EXTREMELY generous grader. He gave a 20 point curve!! He wants you to do well, so show up to class and do the homework or he won't like you and will not help you out.

He's an ok professor. Online homework + quizzes, and he gives you many tries to do it so you cant really do bad. He also gives a HUGE curve so people who does bad gets a decent grade as well. If i had to take stats again i would take him. Easy going class.

It reflects poorly on the school, and thanks to the caliber of professors that Baruch employs, I will be transferring to another university to complete my MBA program. PRO: all the homework and midterms were online through WileyPlus - electronic textbook is awesome. CONS: terrible at responding to emails. Changed grading system as originally presented on the syllabus. Makes many mistakes on the board in class. Unspoken rule that attendance is mandatory. Poor explanations of the complex subject matter.
The fact that he still teaches here reflects poorly on the school. He changes the syllabus in the middle of the semester and is very uncommunicative during and outside lecture. Avoid him if possible.
Sabban is one of the nicest teachers I've ever had; however, he is not a very good teacher. You need to ask a lot of questions and even then most of the times he doesn't answer it properly. This Prof seems nice but he isn't. Ignores questions, doesn't reply to emails changes syllabus many times. He's just really confused. Attendance is mandatory and so is homework. Didn't give us a midterm which put us in jeopardy for the final. But I was able to focus on my other classes while taking him since he doesn't give much work.Avoid!

WORST professor I've ever had! his lectures are super confusing, and I've taken regular stat before and have gotten an A, so I know I'm not the stupid one. This professor just really is horrible. If you ask a question in class, he either doesn't respond or yells at you. DON'T TAKE HIM!
If U r naturally good at Mathematics and willing to study everything by yourelf, this would be an easy A.A lot of HW and quizes online but u have unlimited attempts.This prof is easy grader but really confusing. He knows his stuff but doesn't know how to teach.
Terrible. "Teaches" statistics as if computers & Excel don't exist. Everything is done manually on a calculator & using printed distribution tables. Just reads from PP slides. Homework & tests both come from the book which explains the material much better than he does. He is superfluous. If you like self-study take him. Worst I've come across yet.
There are two exams and a final exam. There is homework from every chapter that has to be done online. He tries very hard to explain the information and convey the important points. The exams are all questions from the textbook's complete bank of homework questions.

Worst professor EVER! Heavy accent, couldn't understand what he was saying. Exams and homework are all through mymathlab. Unspoken rule that you are only allowed 4 absences. Grade composed of 2 midterms, final, attendance and hw. To pass the class, read the textbook and do practice tests for each ch. on mymathlab.
He gives three exams that are all online and you can practice for them if he gives you the chapters. My grades were First exam 72 Second Exam 82 Final 76. He doesn't teach how to use the TI calculators or excel. I promise you learn how to use these tools with your homework and practice tests online and you will nail the exam's.
Sabban is very unclear when it comes to certain topics. You have to read to book and come to class prepared to ask questions. There will be assignments in SAS that you have to figure out on your own. He is nice and very knowledgeable but he butchers the material sometimes and you can tell he doesn't like when students ask questions.

He's funny but an an awful teacher. Learned absolutely nothing. Very easy to cheat on the tests since they are online and no point of coming to class, must better to just learn the material yourself for the book. He can't explain anything and doesnt want to be there as much as you.
Class is so confusing and he's hard to understand. You can tell he doesn't want to teach anymore. He does get you laughing though (sometimes). His tests are online and Excel is allowed. So that makes up for it.

Professor Sabban is an amazing person. He is always available for you if you dont understand something. If you expect to learn something and get a good grade then definitely take him as hw's and exams are online. He has perfect sense of humor. He is very knowledgeable and tries hard to deliver information to you. Recommend!
You will learn everything by yourself, but should attend ALL lectures, otherwise you are in trouble. However, if you do all homework, quizzes, tests on time( everything online) and don't have unexplained absences he will reward you with a higher grade. You can use excel, statcrunch, but for some mysterious reasons no calculator on final.
He's refusing to give us a syllabus, assigning homework when we can't get the book because we don't have the information to get it. The homework is through the publisher. So much for Baruch being a good school.
When it comes to teaching he is the worst professor. There's a lot a material to cover and he is not clear when it comes to explaining. On top of that he has a heavy accent. All homework is online and can be done multiple times. There are two tests which are also online. Final was also online. Pointless to come to class but he does attendance.
The worst professor I've ever had. He doesn't teach anything, just spends a million hours on one small topic. He asks useless questions in class, and he's very annoying about attendance (even though coming to class is the biggest waste of time). However, I think you can still get an A since exams are just like hw and they're all online.

Syllabus is precisely designed, fully covered with descriptions. You must read the book before the class. Doing all homeworks keep you in safer position. Practices must be in priority and I would say, pay more attention on online practices for each chapters than you could pay in class lectures. Only practices and quizzes can assist you the best way
Avoid! if you are stuck taking him, self -study is crucial. Complete all homework and practice as much as you can.
Everything is based off MyStatLab. Literally everything. Homework, Quiz and tests. 10 homeworks that take forever to compete (tedious). The final was hard af. I would pick a different professor.
