Does not know how to speek english, did not help one bit!
can't speak english, doesn't care if you get it or not, and you can't read his hand writting.

Hard to understand but its a pretty easy class...the homework isn't hard and the tests are pretty easy if you did the homework.
One thing I can definitely say about him - he's FAST!!! If you're plan on transfering to a 4-year university and need to cover alot of material - this is the man. However, beware! He is merciless on his tests (at the end a 9 students class turned out to be 3!). Also, he is very hard to understand (very thick accent)
couldn't understand a word he said, he wasn't willing to help at all, and his tests were very confusing.
he does nothing but sit in the class. he wont help you. he is always late and leaves early do NOT pick this class it is not worth it at all
He is a good teacher, sometimes it's a little hard to understand him with his accent. But over all, he is a good teacher and as long as you ask questions he will help.
Excellent teacher. Always avaiable for questions and patient with everyone. Hard to understand, but writes everything down, so you should not be confused.
He is difficult to understand - he has a very thick accent. However, this made me pay much closer attention to the material and helped the learning process. He documents everything very well during lecture and is always open to any questions.
He is very patient,he does have a accent, he does write everything on the board so there shouldnt be a communication problem. He tries, if you can avoid taking the class you should.
Could not understand a thing he said, which made this class useless.
He is a great teacher who really knows what he is talking about. Despite his accent you can understand what he is talking about and he is very descriptive with what he writes on the board. He is open for questions anytime, you have to raise your hand and ask. All homework is online and the tests are in class; I never used the book once.
He is definitely hard to understand at times, like previously mentioned. But he offered a lot of ways to pull up test grades. Overall, I thought he was pretty good.
He is hard to understand. He does write what he says on the board, but his handwriting is also difficult to comprehend. I don't recommend this instructor. His tests are hard, especially his True/False questions on his tests, they are very tricky.
DONT TAKE THIS GUY. He cant speak english very well, wont help with homework, and doesnt care about teaching. What is in the book he write down on the board word for word. His test are not like the homework. worst teacher ever.
Stay away from this Guy
cal. 1 is a really hard class, taking him made it even harder. i really love math but i just couldn't keep up. luckily, i was still able to get an A..don't take him if youre not comfortable with math...
aCTUALLY YES IT IS idk bout the part that he leaves and arrives early and the immigrant part but he is horrible to understand, he mumbles alot and he cant be directly forward with what he wants i just always went to the math lab to get help with that class.
Avoid this teacher, he can't get over the language barrier, and calculus 3 is a hard class, with difficult subject matter,he's unfit to teach it.after the 3rd test he told us our book, which he lectured directly out of,was the wrong book, assigns book work that isn't in the book, after i dropped there were only 4 people and we started with 37.2 failed
I was nervous to take his class because of all the comments. I found out he was not that bad. I clearly understood what he was saying and I enjoyed his class.
Took his college algebra class. Very hard to understand, tests are very hard as well. Felt like going to this class was a waste of time as I could have learned it out of the book much better. The mymath lab assignments are a pain in the butt. Unless you are a total math wiz don't take his class.
Had him in college algebra. He's not "chummy" but he is a really good teacher. There is a bit of a language barrier but once he understands what you are asking, he's always willing to help. His accent is mild. Gives good reviews & tests are all MC. Not hard at all unless you don't come to class. He's upfront about his expectations and is very fair.
the online homework is 10% the 4 quizes given in class 60% final 30% though the online homework seems easy to just not due, it is no problem to pass the class if you do it and learn the content that way.
I'm decent at math, but there has to be clear presentation of what's to be learned. You won't get that with Li. He's sweet, and although it took me 3 weeks to understand his terms and symbols, he knows his stuff. He just doesn't explain how things relate, so come test time you have no idea what the steps to solve the problem are. Not an easy class.
There is a lack of assistance and no reviewes. There is a bit of a language barrier and is a very monotone voice so taking early in the morning is difficult.
this teacher is pretty good, but the problem is he does not give you quizzes or reviews. especially a final review exam. he doesn't give anything to you only goes on the homework but does not show another easy way. he doesn't really explains it
Good teacher, I took this course in 2 weeks. Very intence, but he explained things over and over until everyone understood it. Cares about the students grades. Always there to answer questions and help you with homework. I would take him again.
I couldn't understand him. He didn't break things down for us to grasp it. He moved forward when we still didn't know what he just explained.
DON'T pick this guy to be your teacher. I couldn't understand him. Plus he was rude to me.
Very helpful and tried to make everyone understand but tests were ridiculous and he grade really rough. I understand the material really well now because of him.
Mr. Li is the ISH!!! I took him in a summer semester a few yrs ago.. his tests are extremely easy if you pay attention. && he is NOT hard to understand. If you pay attention in class and ask plenty of questions, Mr. Li will be happy to help!!! He is and forever will be my favorite MATH teacher!! GO MR. LI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At first I was concernced because his accent is thick, but he is very smart and very willing to help his students do well. After a day or two, I didn't really notice the accent. You have to buy the book to get the online code. I haven't opened the book once, but all the homework and practice tests are online. All tests in testing center.Loved class!
I love math but I was miserable in this class. Mr. Li assigns A LOT of online homework and a good portion of it isn't even on the tests. He does not give test reviews. He does not explain things well and when you ask questions he can be condescending. He is also VERY hard to understand!
Condescending, don't think he means to be. Accent easily understandable if you sit close and actively listen. Takes the fun out of math and replaces it with frustration. I learned when reading my book, that was about it. Probably my worst experience in my education looking back, the man made me no longer want to learn math. Hopefully hes improved.
Generally speaking, math is a very difficult subject! And Mr. Li makes it even more difficult. I do not recommend him if you are math challenged. His accent is very thick, and if you ask a question, well good luck! He's a nice enough guy, but not a good professor.
He is not the best teacher I've had by far. However, he is willing to help his students. Test grading is pretty difficult and no extra credit is offered. Tests are also very hard. Be prepared for Calculus and you'll do fine as long as you are willing to take time outside of class to learn topics and study.
I'm amazing at math, but if I don't have a good professor to teach me, I'll do horrible. He only 'tells' you how to do a problem and doesn't 'teach' you.
He's the WORST math teacher. NO extra Credits and his tests are extremely hard. DO NOT TAKE HIM.
His tests are comprehensive, and very concept orientated. He does have a accent, but it's not difficult to understand. He explains everything that is going to be on the test, and gives out suggested homework. This is a college course, and calculus nonetheless. Don't expect it to be easy.
I have never failed math until I took his class. He has a very thick accent if you have hearing problems hard to understand. No proper review, be prepared to be a FAST note taker. I just don't recommend him at all.
Bad instructor, 4 test each was 13 questions and hw did not help was a 3.5 student until his class
I really struggled in this class, he is no help at all. He explains the sections, but doesn't really "teach" us how to work out the problem. Also, his accent is really thick, but somewhat easy to understand. Avoid taking this class if you want to pass math.
Unfortunately, I had to drop his class. Tests count for all but 5% of the grade, and I failed the first two tests. I failed to notice that online homework counts for 5% until after the 2nd test, and wasted a lot of time on it (yet still failed two tests). He explains things on the board quickly, and many times I could not keep up or understand him.
I am thoroughly disappointed with this class. I feel as though it was a waste of my time and money to sit through his course. He did not teach effectively or explain anything. He basically worked problems and then moved on. His tests were next to impossible. I highly recommend selecting a different teacher.
He's pretty nice. Class goes fast, about a section a day. 4 tests plus final. Homework for each section, only 5% of grade. His reviews basically are the test. He replaced ALL my lower grades with the final grade and gave full credit for homework, just for showing effort. HUGE CURVE, that I really needed. Passed me, didn't have to. Nice.
By far the worst teacher I have ever took. Cannot understand a word he's saying, plus makes the tests extremely difficult. Highly recommend to NOT take him. I don't even know why or how TCC hired him.
The WORST math class I've ever had!! I FAILED his class BADLY.. I think his class is design for students to FAIL! He has thick accent and super fast when explaining something. He never care about his student at all. He shouldn't be a teacher! I took college algebra at SE campus with Mr. Sharrod Perry.. man, I made straight A..
I took Calculus I & II from him, and I don't understand why people rated him low on this site. His calculus classes are really quality classes, you will learn a lot. If you just want to get an easy A, look somewhere else.
His accent is difficult to understand, which made me avoid asking for help. My class was done entirely on Math Lab, without lectures. If he wanted to know what you were doing, he would come stand behind you and watch, without saying anything, which made me uncomfortable. He's not great with students who struggle with the subject.
Calculus definitely is a hard subject. I took Calculus I from him this summer semester. I am sure you will learn a lot and understand more about mathematics when you take his class. He is really great and smart. His lecture was so clear with his class notes in pdf file. After his class I fell more confident to take Calculus II
Professor Li is very capable of understanding Calculus. However, there is a language barrier, I would see a student ask a question and he did not understand and the student would not get a straight answer. I spent my semester reading and watching videos to better understand. Tests are multiple choice, not partial credit. Made a C and prior made As
Awful teacher. He is awkward and not going to be the first person to spark up a conversation. If you go ask him for help expect to not figure it out. All homework is online and he gives you so much. His accent is hard to understand and if over 3/4 of the class fails he doesn't really care and just tells you that you should've studied. He's awful!
Professor Li is very nice. If you have questions he will jump up and help you. Yes, English is his second language so you really need to pay attention to what he is saying when he is explaining the problem. I struggle with math, but I made an effort, worked hard, and asked questions. He curved me! Didn't have to, but he knew I was giving it my all.
Mr. Li was all but helpful in my time with him. I have struggled with math my entire life, and although I've established this with him, he does not seem to care. He simply refers me to the textbook when I ask a question, and is visibly angry when I do not understand something or pass an assignment.
Lets be honest, there's reasons why you go to a county college for math over a university; more specifically, a more hands on learning environment and (usually) a more lenient grading system. Mr. Li does neither. His lectures consist of poor examples and constant mistakes. No review for tests, and the final is absurdly difficult.
If you even remotely struggle with math, don't join his class. Easily the worst teacher I have ever had.
Worst teacher ever! DO NOT TAKE HIM!! I got a C in his class and he considered that failing. He does not give any feedback or assistance. He is also completely unorganized, he will hand out incorrect study guides on completely other subject matter, and he will continuously give you the wrong tests. If you point any of this out he will not care.
Could not understand what he says. his hand writing is horrible, so you cant understand his notes. He does not give extra credit . All homework and quizzes online. Worst teacher . Do not Recommend.
His lectures consist of him whizzing through his premade notes with little to no explanation as to how he got from point A to point B. Most of the time I ended up teaching myself with online resources and the online book. I dropped because I felt I wasn't learning the material, despite having an A at the time of drop.
Dr Li. is great ! He is very knowledgeable and is able to present the knowledge in a clear and succinct manner. He makes you think about problems before he helps you and it can be difficult. But he makes sure the class is ready before moving on to the next topic. I would recommend him above any other instructors.
DO NOT TAKE HIM IF YOU STRUGGLE WITH MATH. I made the mistake of taking him, you cannot understand anything he says. He is a nice person but not a good teacher! You basically learn everything on your own because he whizzes through notes!
Mymathlab homework & tests didn't always line up. Couldn't understand lecture or his notes so I taught myself using MyMathLab examples. 5 tests which are all super hard (i'm bad at math). Tests count for majority of grade even though there are tons of online homework, quizzes and tests. Not my fav as I'm barely passing & Im an A student.
Hard to understand horrible at explaining things, I watched as half the class dropped before I finally did myself
Take Dr. Li if you already know the material or like to teach yourself difficult math outside of class. He seems like a good guy and definitely understands the material himself, but he clearly does not enjoy teaching.
Be ready to teach yourself everything, I went to class just to pull up my math lab and teach myself, he doesn't teach and he gives no extra credit. lots of homework due that's only worth as much as a single test grade.
Don't take him if you're not good at math, unless you want to teach the chapters yourself. Heavy test grader and I could not understand his lectures. I came in this class thinking I would learn something, but that was not the case. No calculators until half way into the semester. FIRST test was all fill in the blank and show your work.
If you like to learn in class then this professor isn't for you. He's very difficult to understand but he's a nice guy at least. I'm currently in his class and the semester is almost over. 2 tests left and he is allowing us to use calculators and a note card during the test (probably because we all have low grades) Avoid if there are better options
He just goes through his notes in class quickly. He doesn't even explain things well. Basically, you have to teach yourself in this class. Therefore, don't take him if you struggle with math. He is really nice as a person but as a teacher I feel like he can't teach well.
Doesn't explain things properly...... don't take him!
In Dr. Lis lectures, he points out random things in his pre-made notes and doesnt do a good job of explaining how to get to one point to another. Hell also rush through his notes. Ive had to go to the math tutoring lab to learn the material because Dr. Li does a very poor job teaching. I do not recommend taking his class at all.
he goes through his notes very quickly withouth teaching !! i do not recommend taking him
Teaching methods are horrible to say the least. They involve him using a pen to point at pre handwritten notes before class. Does not work through problems, just shows it, making learning very challenging. The lecture doesn't prepare you for HW. Notes are very hard to read and has heavy accent, you won't understand. You'll get bad quality education
Nothing makes sense and he often ignores emails, I can barley understand him or his handwriting so I am teaching myself and downing. His office hours aren't very helpful. Test heavy despite the amount of HW, no calculator for all exams except the final. Wish I had paid attention to his ranking on here before I took his class.
Coursework is completed in MyMathLab, which can be difficult to navigate but has decent tutorials. Huge amounts of homework disproportionate to grade impact. Tests are 60% of your grade and the final exam is worth 20%--this class is incredibly difficult if you don't have at least an hour daily to dedicate to coursework.
Online lectures were really poor. Consisted of him reading off his notes. He did not explain things in depth, but instead simply read off examples. No true lecture, just examples. Made it difficult to truly understand the material. Would not recommend.
I took Dr. Li's math for business and soc sci. This class is basically easy algebra with added business. If you don't know how to do the math already, it may be challenging because Dr. Li uses confusing examples in class (he changes them as he works them so it is hard to follow along), but if you're good at math it's fine. Lecture was frustrating.
You will teach yourself this class. You get a 3x5 index card, use it. Read questions carefully. Some multiple choice, some fill-in questions. Professor is unreachable and when they do respond, they are short and unprofessional. Do not recommend this professor, but if you do take him, good luck. The sample test questions are helpful for the tests.
Proffesor Li is a great teacher. I understand that why he has low ratings and probably because some students find it hard to understand what he's saying. However, he encourages you to do the work and keep up with it. He reminded you and gives you so many opportunities so you can pass the class. He is the best and easy grader
He was a terrible teacher. He read off of his own handwriting which was completely ineligible and hard to understand. The class itself was not too different HE made it difficult. Would not recommend to anybody.
If you are taking this class online, be prepared to do at least 2 hours of homework a night, it is ridiculous. He utilizes pearson for the HW and lectures, but the thing is, he's not the one presenting the lectures. Sometimes the lectures wouldn't cover any of the material, and good luck trying to get any clarification through email.
The structure of the course was all over the place. Lectures were pretty hard to follow. Instructions were also not clear. As someone who struggles with math, this class didn't help. Dr. Li was always nice, but it was a little difficult to understand him at times. I hope he can improve his teaching in the future.
I would never take this class again and I am WARNING YALL TO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. He rushes through lectures if you ask a question he will make weird comments. I CANT understand him and his lectures at all. If you need any help he won't help or provide anything. THERE ARE ONLY TEST GRADES AND HOMEWORK. You take your test on Thursdays or Saturdays.
dr li is too old to be teaching. he knows his stuff but students barely understand him and he has a very thick Chinese accent. he does not answer student's question and he does not even care about the class. my first and worst class ever. had to drop. DO NOT TAKE HIM IF YOU HAVE HARD TIME UNDERSTANDING MATHS.
Dr. Li does not care for teaching whatsoever. Be prepared for bell-to-bell lectures that you can barely understand, with the homework not covering anything related in lectures. I've never had a professor more difficult in my entire life than Dr. Li. This class was the first ever class that made me cry trying to complete. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!
Test aren't bad you get sample questions. Lectures are boring learned more outside. Homework! You can score a 95 on every test but if you do not complete the homework you will fail, and I say that almost failing. Mymath lab sucks so GBY and if you have this class then use Socratic or chegg for homework. There's easier classes for the same content.
8 units that fall into 32 sub-units that have about 32 questions per sub unit. If you like math you already know that's over a thousand questions in total, but what you didn't know is that this total actually represents the amount of homework you have to complete in this class. Super reasonable.....
Very difficult to understand during lectures. He'd fly through 3-4 sub-units each class as well. During an exam review, I asked him to go over a question I was having difficulty with. He told me how I should already know how to work on it, and skipped the question. Dropped the class the same day. Not dealing with anything like that.
Extremely difficult to follow in class, lectures are better spent reviewing notes on your personal device in class rather than attempting to follow. All of the notes he makes are handwritten and packed on printer paper with no lines making it hard to follow as well. Tests are quite easy, he gives out sample questions that almost exactly mirror it.
By far the worst professor you could ever take in TCC. He doesnt teach well, he has an attitude problem, and assigns so much homework that doesnt even correlate with material taught in class. He has a harsh accent that makes it hard to understand him, i wish i could say something positive about him but there really isnt anything to say.
Dr. Li would rarely explain on his teachings and just talk through the lectures. In my class all the averages for the tests were around 30/40's and he doesn't do curves and won't go over it with you. Very bad professor. DONOT recommend
Professor Li is a subpar professor. He gives a TON of homework online. His handwriting is hard to read, but he is very kind and will help you a bunch if you ask him.I recommend taking notes on your time, going to the math help department, and focusing on the review for the best chance of passing. If you don't do well in math, please don't TAKE HIM.
Y'all come on. If you're bad at math and you hate it, you will do bad in this class, as you will any college math class. All homework is clear, on your own time, you have all semester to do it. You literally get to write everything you need on a notecard for all tests. Has an accent but methods and math are clear. GREAT class, would take again.
It was an amazing class just do the notes before lectures and you will be golden!
DO NOT TAKE HIM! He has a very thick accent, which makes it hard to understand. On top of that, he goes fast. He says the test is just like the review, but it's not. The tests are free answers, so if it's not exactly how he wants it, you're failing. I ended up dropping the class because my grade was so bad.
Awful! I don't recommend taking his class. He is nice and sweet but his lectures are way to hard to understand, his notes are messy and all over the place. You can't rely on them. Be ready to teach yourself the material, using the textbook and the HW. If math is not for you definitely don't take his class. I don't recommend taking his class
He's very homework heavy however his HW deadline is at the end of the semester so go at your own pace. He does have a thick accent so at times it is hard to understand. His test are not multiple choice so beware of that, he does give you a notecard to use during the test so it helps a lot. If you suck at math just be prepared to know the material
He always let us retake tests if we asked and kept the highest grade. He does give a lot of homework and is hard to understand. However, he always includes videos from the textbook that explain things very well so I stopped watching the lecture and only watched the videos. His tests pretty much mirror the test reviews so if you study you'll be fine
What can I say that hasn't already been said? By far the worst class I've ever taken and that's saying a lot because 90% of all my TCC classes and teachers have been awful. What is even happening at this college? Unhelpful lectures, bad handwritten notes, and the Cengage homework asks questions from chapters you haven't even covered yet.
This class was entirely self-taught through YouTube and the textbook. His thick accent, and I mean THICK, makes his lectures useless overall. He scans his notes into a PDF, but his handwriting is almost illegible. The textbook is probably the most structured thing in this course. Surprisingly, he responds to emails quickly and straightforward.
Respectfully, this professor is NOT worth the time. Be prepared for him to straight jump into his prewritten notes which he will just go over for the whole class time instead. He does have a very heavy accent so it can be very difficult to understand what he is saying.Very homework heavy and his prewritten notes are very sloppy would not take again
He's awful. Choose a better professor. His tests are so poorly designed. Half of the class already dropped before the census date. Good luck to the other half, they're gonna need it.
