he's awesome... yeah he may have high expectations and an accent but he really cares about seeing YOU succeed. He will push you hard especially if he knows your capable. (apparently most of you are weak and not capable)One of my favorite all time profs.

I am a woman, but he was very helpful to me so I do not see how he is unfair to women. He does stare at the ceiling a lot. He has an accent, but he speaks wonderful English. I think because he learned English, he is more understanding of how things need to be explained. Very Good Professor :)

Awesome teacher. He really pushed me for my best work and that is the job of a teacher. He is probably one of the few people in this school doing what they are suppose to get paid for. Yoav, you are the man.

He is very knowledgeable about class material. Was very helpful when seeking help outside of the class. A very good professor, expects a lot but I really learned the material.

He's strict and takes his class more seriously than anyone in it ever will. It's very difficult to please him with papers, but he gives alot of examples and feedback that you can use to get better. The quizzes are easy as long as you study. He can come off as very abrasive, but he means well.

I was afraid to take thsi class, especially with him and in the summer sessions; however, I managed to pass his class with a good grade. You just need to put lots of effort and read before class so you have some knowledge of what will be covered. This class was very interesting.

A wonderful class that ties together many different areas of learning. Part history and part philosophy, this is a course for adults who like to think. Dr. Arieh is wonderfully well-read in many different areas and will broaden your horizons the way a college education should.

Be ready to work... but he's a great teacher if you want to learn

He's very thorough but be prepared to work hard and take his hard quizzes. However, he does review before he gives quizes so if you really like psychology, just study hard. I hope I get him for experimental because he's a pretty good teacher and if does give you help if you ask for it. Grade:B+

this dude is AWESOME. i hated math all my life and never understood one page of it. i even took stats (twice). i dunno how, but i have never understood any sort of math the way i do in this class. no exams, just about 9 quizzes, and he drops the lowest. he's kinda funny and charming. if you gotta take this class, take him!

great teacher. i learned alot even though im horrible at math i understood everything. no tests just quizzes which he gives a good review sheet for. Im taking him again next semester. i would recommend him for any psych major

I love Yoav! there is something about him idk he cracks me up. Exp is a pretty hard class lots of work whoever you take. Def recommend Arieh. Quizes aren't bad gives you a review and its all in your notes. Take good notes on everything on board you'll need it! 2 major research papers a little rough but he works w/ you. charming guy.

I loved him! i was so scared going into stats of psych cuz i suck at math..but the way he teaches..he makes everything so clear and really helps you with things you have problems with. his quizes and tests werent too bad but you gotta make sure you kno how to do the tests and formulas which arent that bad since he allows a forula page. Take him!

He may seem abrasive at times, but he has a sense of humor, too. He gets the class involved in discussions and even though it's a long, 2x a week class, it goes by fast. Must attend class to take notes on lectures for quizes. He's knowledgable and you'll learn a lot, but you work for your grade. He's not out to get you though. Reccommend him!

Very Good Teacher, Quizzes can be a little hard, and the two papers didn't really turn out to be as bad as i thought they would be. I would highly recommend this man.

I think he's a great prof. I'm not going to say that he is easy... and I'm not going to say that he is hard. you need to be in class to take good notes.. He teaches good..He throws in some jokes..He does have an accent but not so bad that you can't understand him.. I would recommend him..

I really enjoyed Prof Arieh's class. He explained everything crytsal clear and made everything easy to understand. He was a bit unpatient at times but only because it was a summer course. If you attend class and pay attention the course should be easy.

Professor Arieh is an excellent professor. He teaches very clear & is available for extra help. Make sure to read the textbook, so you're prepared for class because he expects participation. He gives 7-8 quizzes, and drops the lowest grade, as well as 2 or 3 simple HW assignments. I enjoyed his class. =]

i actually liked arieh. taking exp psych with him is difficult, but you will actually learn. he can seem mean, but he is actually willing to help if you ask him. i ended up being glad that i took exp. with him.

Good professor. Has a slight accent, however, presents the material in a clear way. Tests are pretty fair, and the actual material is not too complex. Also, has a dry sense of humor.

If you are prepared to work REALLY hard, then take his class. Tough grader, but I am glad I took his class because I learned a lot. If you don't understand something, feel free to ask after class,he explains well.Even though sometimes he seems really mean, he is not, he cares.

extremely intelligent and challenging. i had him for experimental and i learned so much. if youre a psych major you should really take dr. arieh if you want to know about researching. he's very experienced in his field.

Dr. Arieh is strict and tough on his students because he wants them to do well. If you show initiative and ask for help, he will make time to help and explain things to you. We are college students people it's not going to be easy. Just show up, study, and put forth the effort

He is personally my favorite professor; he has taught me my entire foundation for stats and experimental. He truly wants everyone to be passionate about the field and to do well within his course. This does not deny the fact that he is hard and takes no nonsense, but he does have a sense of humor. He lightens up and tells awkward jokes, lol.

the tests are pretty basic. if you pay attention and take notes in class, you'll do fine. tough grader on papers.if there is an APA mistake, he'll take points off. sometimes he loses the train of thoughts but not on major things. Genius on stats and teaches accordingly. helpful in and outside of class. great prep for grad school. TAKE HIM

Definitely a tough professor but he is extremely passionate about psych and if you pay attention and work hard you will do fine in his classes.I took him for stats and experimental because I really like his teaching style. Tough, but means well and you'll learn ALOT

It really bothers me to see low ratings for Prof. Arieh because I know exactly the type of students that are doing it. They are the ones who do not understand Psych isn't all cool stories about abnormalities. If you are a hard worker Yoav has a lot too teach you. If you actually have a chance at getting into grad school this class should be no prob

He's actually nice & tries to help everyone get good grades but he does get frustrated when people ask questions he feels they should know the answer to. I took him in a hybrid course-math is not my strength but I got an A because he did any problems on the board and told you exactly what he expects in assignments. I wouldn't mind having him again

Proff. Arieh is great! He tells it like it is. Very clear in what he expects of you. Makes you work hard, but is always open to answering questions and helping students out. His class really prepared me well for future use of Stats and SPSS. If you're looking to learn a lot, and get a fair grade for what you put in, take his class.

Dr. Arieh is a great professor who really wants his students to learn. His courses are tough, so if you want to just float by you won't do well. Had him for 3 classes and got As in all of them. If you make the effort you will gain a lot of knowledge about SPSS and research methods. The kids who didn't like his course we're the lazy ones.

Yoav is honestly one of the best professors in the Psych Department. He is clear about all of his assignments. If you ask him to clarify things he will repeat/ explain! If you take the class seriously and put in effort, you will get a good grade. He gives papers so that you'll have something to show for grad school apps. A very great class & Proff!

He may have very messy hand writing, but you get used to it. Lectures are very easy to follow and he goes through everything many times to help you understand. He cracks jokes once and awhile and can get sassy when people do not read or ask questions that he just went over. But he is an incredible professor and I would take him again.

I think he's an amazing professor, he may come off as a hard but honestly he just wants the best for us. He makes us work hard to earn good grades as well as learning the material. I wouldn't mind taking him again! I had him for 220 and when I got to 301 I was so prepared because I learned so much from his class!

Great Professor! I took his online class and if you work hard, study all the material he puts on canvas, watch all the videos, and do the assignments, you will do well. He is very understanding and really helps you learn the material by his really helpful videos and audio files.

Any one that failed this class is probably because they did NOTHING all semester. You have to actually try to fail ! How can you not get an A if he literally shows you STEP BY STEP what he wants in his assignments! Deff recommend taking him !

At first, he seems SUPER intimidating and unapproachable but he's really a nice guy. He's funny, helpful, and you can tell he loves what he does. Read the textbook, PAY ATTENTION IN CLASS because if you miss one then you're lost, and make sure to take notes PROPERLY.

DO NOT BE INTIMIDATED! He tries to come off as daunting, but he's a real sweetheart. If you don't understand he will do everything he can to help you. You will definitely need the textbook and you will definitely need to study. Quizzes, tests and assignments are tough, but if you really try you will be fine. Just take a deep breath and take it slow

DO NOT take this professor IF you plan to sit around and get an easy A. This is not a difficult course at all but it does require MINIMAL effort. Come to every class. If you miss one, you may be lost. Copy everything down and all the steps (his handwriting is a little messy). Ask for help. He is very caring and accommodating. Quizzes are simple.

Professor Arieh is great, but don't take this class if you think you can skim by. You do well by actively reading the textbook chapters and coming to class. Take LOTS of notes. Do practice problems. If you put in the work, you will succeed. His lectures were great at reinforcing the textbook material. Just pay attention and actually put in effort!

I took PSYC220 w/ prof. Arieh in the Summer. He is extremely organized and so straightfoward. He gives you assignments to do, but literally tells you how to do them STEPBYSTEP in his videos. If you can't manage to do something so simple that he explains, idk what to tell you. This class requires some effort, you're in college after all! Hes great!

His quizzes are easy and usually based off the homework. I agree with the other reviewers below, you need to put some effort in order to pass Dr. Arieh cares about his students and wants them to succeed. His assignments are also easy and well explained. Take him if you want to learn something.

I relied on the textbook a lot for this class. Watch his instructional videos on doing the HW because they are very useful. This is a pretty average college class. Don't expect to have fun learning.

Professor Arieh is one of my favorite professors at MSU. Despite all of the negative comments he is a very educated and helpful teacher who grades based on your quality of work and effort, not favoritism. His modules always have step by step videos and theres no reason why it should be difficult. Following directions and reading will get you far!

Super nice guy you just have to put in the effort to talk to him. Whole grade is pretty much based on four quizzes that are pretty difficult. If you ask him whenever you're confused he'll always re explain and clarify which is really important in doing well on the quizzes. Overall hes great to take for stats as he knows a lot and is very helpful.

This class is easy to pass if you watch the computational videos. He does step by step instruction for all SPSS assignments and other written assignments you will be uploading to Canvas. All quizzes are multiple choice and there was no midterm or final. He does have a strong accent but he speaks slowly enough that I didnt really have a problem.

Best stats course I've ever taken. Dr Yoav really knows his stuff. His lectures are easy to understand and if you miss a class, just follow the videos he posts with each module. His accent is a little heavy and his handwriting is just okay, so sit in the front or just ask for clarification. He's pretty chill. Can't recommend him enough.

I took this as a 4 wk summer class and it was the best decision ever! The workload was average, with reasonable time in between assignments and quizzes. For every assignment, he posts a step by step video to show how to do it. Also, he is pretty responsive with good feedback. I'm bad at math and I got an A in this class. Take him if you can!
