It's hard to understand him at times, but he is a very intelligent man and knows his stuff. He'll help you out if you need it.

Wish I hadn't taken this...Don't take it if no background to this stuff. He's hard to understand and gives ALOT of info. Not really hard material...just alot. BUT he let me retake the first test and it was the same test!!!
He is one of the hardest teachers to understand, don't take this class unless you really have to.
He is very rude , unprofessional. I took Asian politics class with him and we did not even cover China or JApan!!! He does not even give tests and grades on papers that he is very subjective on.
Take a class if you really want to learn anything, rather than just get a grade.
He's a nice person and good professor as well. He really makes you understand the subject in simple way. I think you wouldn't regret if you take a class with him.
Great professor. He loves to discuss current events and isn't afraid to give his opinion. Tests can be a little hard, but if you study and read what you are suppose to, then you'll do fine. If you want to learn from a good guy, then this is the man.
VERY BORING MAN!!! The information covered in the class could be a lot more exciting. The fact that he can put you to sleep really makes you want to go to class!
He is a good professor and if you put in the effort you will do well.
Grover is a great professor. I learned a lot in this class and I enjoyed reading the books he selected. If you do the reading and participate in class, you'll fine. Despite what some say, he didn't seem biased to foreign students at all.
He is a great professor. Taught me how to care about the topic. At first comes off boring, but ask questions and debate and he's as fun as they come. He's vert liberal, but listens to you if you're conservative. O and he hates Iowa.
Grover is the man and is a great professor...not much help outside of class but if you can read you shouldn't need it.
Dr. Grover is an excellent prof! He can be a bit long winded and boring at times, but he is extremely intelligent and interesting. I've learned a lot from him! He is a democrat, so republicans, get ready to be told that you're stupid, in a soft, gentile way!
Grover is an awesome professor. At times the class is a bit boring, but he's the nicest guy.
I loved this prof. If you ask questions he's great at answering and seems like he cares. HE IS HILARIOUS. what did one saggy boob say to the other - how can you not laugh when that comes out of his mouth!
Go to class take notes and you will do fine
I genuinly found this man to be quite interesting. Maybe it's the way he talks, which makes it seem like your watching a documentary of some sort. I didn't think his lectures were boring at all; but I suppose if you aren't interesting in Politics to begin with you may not enjoy this class. Regardless, the class only has 3 tests so it's not bad.
Sweetest man you will ever meet. Class can be dry, but he cares so much and it really shows. Interesting lessons--try to get him to tell jokes! What did one saggy boob say to the other?--best joke ever!! ^_^
He was fun, you have to take good notes and rad the chapters assigned. Difficult test also. Not recommended!
Grover is the MAN. Take his class. You will come out so much smarter. He is the most adorable little man ever, and hes absolutely brilliant. His lectures can be a little boring and seem longwinded, but his classes are easy if you do the readings, which aren't much. He is liberal, but is very open to other opinions on anything. I love this man
This is class is easy if you go to class. READ! Reading and notes on tests. He is a nice guy and will help you out. Speak out in class he likes that!
Good class; reading assignments were lengthy, lots of material to memorize, but very fair grader. Liberal (in a good way), hot accent, very intelligent and remarkable memory. Remembers student's names. Takes note of people who do well in a positive way. Pay attention to examples in class (not just terms and concepts).
Loved the class. Grover is the man. Spent a day debating whether or not to tell a drity joke, then told it and let us go. If you go to class and take notes, you will do well. He is very clear and helpful. Tests are just like any other Poly-Sci class, essay plus multiple choice, but not that difficult if you study.
AWESOME LITTLE DUDE. super nice, has a cool accent and speaks every well...easy to understand. TAKE HIM! some semester points are from participation, and you do have to speak up if you want to earn them. very interesting class, and i had no interest in it whatsoever before i took it...but it was informative
I absolutely loved this class. The professor is very intelligent. However you have to speak up to earn your participation points.
very funny, cute man, interesting stuff, easy tests
I took a few classes with Dr. Grover in the early 90's and he was a great professor. Kind, passonite, smart, and interesting.
He is very knowledgeable and willing to help students understand the material. Tests can be difficult if you do not invest a lot of time into preping, but he gives you ample opportunity to be prepared. Attendance is part of your grade. Great instructor. I would take him again.
Big respect to Grover!
A very good professor, intelligent men, sincere and helpful. He cares and a good man. Very funny too...in a very gentle way. You will learn a lot from him.
Very kind and soft spoken prof. Prior to taking this class I had zero interest in it, but he makes it as interesting as possible. I would recomend this for general Eds. He is helpful, and does require participation (easy). Take this class!
This class gets very boring! you can have your computer so the internet is a good time killer. He was really unfair about participation points but ended up adjusting everyones grades (in my case it bumped me from a B to an A).gives you the essay questions for the test beforehand so you can study them, the multiple choice is kinda hard.
Nice guy, but tests are brutal. He will help if you ask for it and he responds to e-mails very quickly. Attendance is mandatory and he has participation points. He is brutal with those too! Overall it is a hard class, but if you study and pay attention you will do fine!
Ugh. This class was way harder than it should have been. Talks forever, which isn't all that bad, but he is extremely boring. Attendance taken and counts for points. The tests are much harder than he makes them seem. Talks about politics a lot (extremely liberal... if that matters). If you take this class be sure to show up, read, and study A LOT!
Hard professor. He is a nice guy, but grades come from tests, papers, and participation. He is hard on participation! you must talk all the time to get an A in participation. Tests are essay and the topics are given in advance. His voice is soft so sit up front if you want to hear.
Relatively tough grader. Attendance not required but strongly encouraged.
Extremely helpful teacher who wants you to succeed. He is not hard to understand if others contrary to other posts. If you participate and show up in class he will like you and be willing to help you. His tests are not bad IF you study. Multiple choice can be hard but give you essays to study so no reason you shouldn't do well. overall I suggest
Is a very straight forward teacher. Class can be boring. Showing up is strongly suggested. Go to his office frequently. Outside of class he is a really cool guy and he will like you more. Tests are not difficult. Strongly suggest studying in groups. Go to him if you have a question.
The class is based on 3 exam scores, attendance, and participation. His exams are essays, but if you put a lot of thought into them you'll get a good grade. He gives you study guides, which are directly from the test. He's a nice guy but lectures can get a little boring.
I've had Grover for a lot of classes and hes a great teacher. He genuinely wants his students to do well and succeed in life and is overall kind and understanding. His classes are lectures based on the books and he usually gives out study guides with a handful of questions and 3 will be on the essay exam and you will have to answer 2. Recommend!
He is such a nice guy! Your grade is based on three exams which are essay questions but he gives you a study guide. You can often talk him into letting you use a page of notes. He does take attendance and you receive a participation grade. Overall, he wants his students to do well and is very helpful!
During his lectures, I sometimes had no idea what he was rambling about. Other times, he is very clear. It just makes it very hard to know what to take notes on. He says no laptops, but everyone used them. I strongly recommend using your laptop to take a lot of notes. Like others have said, your grade is based on attendance and 3 essay exams.
I think the topic of the class is interesting, but Professor Grover had difficult tests. When students complained of some test questions, it was more of an 'oh well'. I believe he is willing to help you become prepared, but gives hard tests.
This class was an interesting class. But he does not listen when students tell him things. Go to class and pay attention. Tests are very tough so you need to understand the material he assigns to read. Only 3 tests all semester and a participation grade. No homework assignments for extra points and no extra credit. Over all really tough class
He's an understanding person and is fair!!!!!
YG is my hero- hilarious guy with a breathtaking knowledge of all the goings-on in the world. Every time I meet with him he encourages me to continue applying myself. Had him for GS200/400 and a class on human rights-just make sure you show an effort and you'll be fine. Shows his grade distribution for all tests- A's are sparse but Bs/Cs everywhere
Grover is one of the kindest men ever. He's incredibly kind, and will help you understand if you don't understand and see him during office hours. Tests are only difficult if you do not study. He gives you a study guide that has the exact questions he will be asking. Super awesome guy.
He is an amazing professor. Really caring and gives you study cheat sheets for tests. The tests are open ended and pretty hard if you're not 100% prepared but he makes it very clear what will and will not be on tests.
YG is one of the best professors at Winona, yes his tests are tough but he wants to challenge his students to learn, think critically and to voice your opinion. Incredibly insightful.
He is very opinionated and will purposely say things to set people off. If you do speak up he typically disagrees and will tell you why you are wrong and he is right. He lectures a lot and goes through the information to fast but refuses to post lecture notes online even if you ask him to. Doesn't like when people do well on quizzes he likes F's.
Incredibly opinionated on the side of the Democrats. Get ready to get told that everything done by America ever is wrong. On the plus side his tests and quizzes are easy enough, since it's all common sense. He will pull tests from random things he talks about in class though so just have a working understanding of world politics and you'll be fine.
Grover is a great guy. He is hilarious and the class is easy as long as you show up. There aren't many homework assignments in this class. Take notes and you'll do fine on the tests and quizzes.
Easy course and test. All based on the reading, little homework.
He is terrible with technology, so bare with him through lecture. The only grades are 3 tests and a reading presentation which not everyone had the chance to present. He is very unorganized and refuses to give online lecture notes or a schedule. Overall a very easy class. He gives you all the essay questions before the tests.
Grading varies wildly. Opinionated, will usually disagree w/ students.
Grade consists of 3 exam's 3 quizzes, and a participation/attendance grade. Lectures are insightful although he can get a bit off topic. He posts guides on D2L for each exams, each consist solely of defining 4 terms with approx. 5 sentences each for half of the points and an essay prompt worth the other half. Tough grader but not the worst ive seen
Grover is not great with technology but he's a chill guy. The exams are in essay format but he gives you a study guide. It was kind of unclear how he graded his exams, which I didn't like.
Laughable class, Mr. Grover is a very opinionated left leaning teacher which isn't uncommon. However the degree he pushes his beliefs and agenda into the class is shocking and annoying. Not very knowledgeable in my opinion read off notes and seemed fairly on the fly and unprepared. However this class that doesn't really teach much is easy to pass.
Professor Grover is funny and cares about students and the subject area. It is really important to read. He does not do a very good job at requiring students to read for class, but you won't be able to contribute to discussion without it and it is crucial for the tests. He goes very fast through notes, but the textbook covers the same info!
He is a very nice guy and cares. He is funny but you have to be interested in the topic to enjoy class. Only 3 tests and 3 quizzes and the study guides are the test.
Professor Grover is the most left-leaning teacher I ever had. I know that most professors are liberal but this was over the top. As a moderate who cares about politics, I was offended by how he never gave the conservative viewpoint a chance or even let it be heard. He has an obsession with President Trump. I would only take it if you were socialist
Professor Grover, Is very understanding and accommodating to your learning needs. I try my best to share my opinion during class perception but I don't have the confidence to speak what I feel. I would have to agree with a left viewpoint and Non-Trump supporter (LOL). I did learn a lot about globalization and it has opened up my eyes!!!
YG is a sweet lil old man. Great guy in general, but this class really kicked me. It was often unclear what exactly he was looking for in terms of exam answers. I did learn more about various ethnic conflicts throughout the world, which was super nice. You're only graded on three quizzes and three exams, so theres not much room for error.
There are 3 quizzes and 3 tests including the final. The tests are short and long answer only (no multiple choice). I personally like write out exams, so this course went smoothly for me. He is extremely left-sided and hates Trump which got quite annoying after awhile. He can be very funny though!
Grover is the worst professor I have ever had. I am not sure if it is because this course was online, but all of his directions on tests are vague so you're never sure if you're answering correctly. He does give long and short essay exams and they are extremely difficult if you do not answer the way he wants you too. Overall, this class sucked.
Professor Grover is very sweet and charming and overall a great professor. He discusses current events and relates it to what youre learning in class. The only setback with this is that sometimes he gets off on a tangent and doesnt get very far with the notes. As long as you show up, read the chapters, and take notes you should pass the quizzes.
He never had a PowerPoint to present. He never gave us a clear schedule ahead of time of what to read. His political opinions often overshadow his class, so you should pander to them if you want a good grade. One of the driest lecturers that I have ever listened to. A lot of his test questions are poorly worded. Do the study guides, they're helpful
Good professor, and fairly easy class. Only graded on 3 quizzes, 2 exams and participation. Random attendance and a LOT of reading.
Prof. Grover makes the class interesting. Even though when he lectures it can get boring, he makes it interesting with discussions. If you actually care about current events, this class is definitely for you. He does obviously have opinions, but he doesn't enforce them on you. Very good professor and fun class!
If you are looking for an easy A course, this is not the corse for you. Dr. Grover is a super nice person, however his class is challenging and his exams are not fun. If you are not into politics and economics, don't take this class. He loves when you participate, but not so much if you don't.
He was a super nice guy and really understanding. The lectures and content of this class are just boring, but if you go to class and read the book the 3 quizzes and the 2 tests will be easy. The quizzes are multiple choice and the tests are written response. But overall not a bad class.
lectures are boring if no one participates but he is funny and cares about his students. he is very reasonable for grading and easy to reach outside class. lectures are based directly off the readings so if you show up the reading isnt as necessary.
He takes random attendance so you don't know what days you have to be there. You have 3 quizzes and two tests. Quizzes are multiple choice and tests are short answer, it's an easy class but kinda hard to get an A because of the limited graded items. He cares for his students and is very understanding but his lectures can be quite boring.
His lectures are very dry even though he is an interesting professor. There are 3 test that make up your whole grade. The tests are 5 short answer questions with an essay at the end. He likes to hear what you have to say but is a very tough grader
Lectures are long and boring. Test are unreasonably hard.
He is honestly the worst professor I have ever had. It is clear that only his opinion matters and if you have a different one he will shoot you down in front of the entire class and say you are wrong. Then he gets mad that people don't participate in his class, it's not because of the time of the class, it is him as a teacher. He is VERY liberal.
you only take quizzes and exams (3 each). quizzes are worth 20 points and 1 question is extra credit so you can get 21/20 and all are multiple choice. exams are in essay format. question 1 in the exam you answer 4/5 questions 5 sentences long and then question 2 is a longer paragraph. on the quizzes, he gave us a 2nd attempt on the first 2.
He's not too bad, I've definitely had worse professors. However, he is very boring and monotone to listen to, get enough sleep the night before or he will literally put you to sleep. His exams are incredibly difficult, but he allows retakes if we get a C or below which is nice because not many professors allow that.
Grover really cares about his students and he wants you to succeed in his class. Prepare to really take the time to study for this class and you will pass his course. He's such a sweetheart and is really passionate about his profession. Grover also really loves roundabouts!
Dr. Grover is a professor who truly cares about his students. If you have good attendance, participate, study ahead of time, and do well on the exams/quizzes -- you will pass his class. Dr. Grover is one of the sweetest professors and makes class fun during lectures (lots of laughs during discussion). Dr. Grover also loves the Farmers Market.
Grover's tests are almost unreasonably hard. He's a super sweet guy, but he acts as though he expects all his students to have a lot of background information on the material. He will not offer any extra credit, and your grade in the class is made up of 3 quizzes and 3 tests. There's no homework, but he always has at least 10 articles to read.
Professor Grover was a really sweet professor however that's the only good thing I can say. The class grade is made up of 3 quizzes and three exams. It's hard to make up a grade if you do badly on an exam. The exams are essay-based and extremely difficult because he gives so many topics to memorize and on top of that, he's an extreme grader. Wo
He is a nice guy but some of his discussions are pointless. Hard to understand what he is saying. You can only write about what HE says on the exams. If you do extra research on the study guide to get more information he will NOT give you credit. Very hard grader, if you fail one exam you will have no way to make up your grade.
way harder than expected, really hard to understand him at times, and the slides he uses for lectures make no sense. there is no graded homework but he assigns articles to read often. the tests are extremely hard and he is tough when it comes to grading. he expects you to know everything and have the same POV/opinion as him on all the topics.
Dr. Grover is very kind and is willing to accommodate your needs. He is very passionate about global studies. I found his class fascinating. Reading the textbook is crucial. He is a hard grader on exams and his quizzes are very difficult. If you are struggling in his class, email him or talk to him after class, and he will try to help you.
