Very difficult during testing, his accent makes extremely hard to understand him. Not very clear when explaining, makes a lot of mistakes. His grading system does not help the student at all. Try to talk to him after class and always seem to be in a rush to avoid me. Won't reccomend him.

Horrible, very tough too
this guy is very good. one of the best math teacher in the department, i would come up with questions every class and he would answer every single one of them. he is very helpful and clear about the material. his test are somewhat easy if you study...
this class is extrememy difficlt for many students, even tose who found themselves A students prior to taking it. He didn't skip steps, and would answer any question the student had, including homework. He writes everything on the board very clearly.
Absolutely horrible! Worst teacher i've ever had...his accent makes it hard to understand him as well as the fact that he talks so softly. he doesnt know how to explain things in a different way and your grade is ONLY based on tests..very unfair!!

This professor displays a lack of interest in student learning. He is not open to assessing his teaching methods and actually squelches student enthusiasm for math. How disappointing!

Prof Tecle is one of the best Math teachers I've encountered at CCC, took him twice. He's a tough teacher, but explains everything thouroughly and will answer any questions you have in class or his office. Makes you think about what you are learning. Homeworks are essential for success. I would take him again for Calc 2!

Horrible. Purely horrible. Dropped before I failed, but got a B with another teacher. This man should not be teaching.
I took him in the summer for Pre Calc 1, he is very unclear, doesn't teach, expects that you already know everything from Intermediate Algebra. Don't take him for a summer class or rather at all. I dropped him. Waste of time and money!!!
I had him for the summer mini session for Precalc I and I thought he was great. He gives great notes. Yes, he does expect you to remember what was learned in Algebra, but you should if you are in that class anyway.
Hard to understand
I took Elementary Algebra over the summer and got an A, took Intermediate Alg in the fall and got an A, took Precalc in the spring with Tecle and now I have an F. My other 2 professors were great. I highly advise not taking Tecle for Precalc. He has a thick accent and talks very low making it hard to understand him.
He spent most of class time writing on board information which should have been on a handout. Waste of time. Very hard. Doesn't like to answer questions. Gets irritaged if asked questions.
I have to desagree with everyone. I thought he was great! he made examples for everything, he explains everything in every possible way. He does have an accent but it is not that bad. if I got a B+ anyone can get it! All THE TEST QUESTIONS COME FROM THE HOMEWORK....Easy A

A previous poster said "All THE TEST QUESTIONS COME FROM THE HOMEWORK....Easy A" ... the majority of his test questions do come from HW, but the numbers and signs of operation are different. also he often assigns over 30 problems a night which add up to a lot of possible problems come test time. And there are only 4 tests in 15 weeks. DO NOT TAKE!!

He does have an accent, but its not that bad. He is willing to help after class hours or just go to tutoring. He cover material very fast and assisgns ALOT of problems every night for homework. If you are good at math than you will be fine. But if not, DROP the class fast. More than half of my class dropped before the end of the semester.
He has an accent, but it's nothing you can't get used to. Don't throw your hands up right away with this prof. He is EXTREMELY helpful, he seems intimidating, but he likes people who try. Just ask questions and try your best, he will be very helpful!
This professor will not tolerate people that don't come prepared or don't take the class seriously. Do the HW problems and you will do fine. You can drop a test and still make a A like I did. I got a 40 on one exam and turned it around into an A with a lot time spent doing the HW problems 2-3 times before each exam.
This guy is terrible. You WILL find that out on your own if you dont drop. The fact that over half the class drops is a disgrace and he should be ashamed of himself as a teacher.
Tests are nothing like the homework problems or lessons in the DVD. Very difficult class...it is an online class...yet you have to take exams on campus (they should call it a hybrid course because it is a hybrid course...) and the instructor is never available.
He is one of the best teachers at Camden County. I took him for hybrid calc. He was very organized and his notes and lectures were very clear. If you do your homework and quizzes at home you'll be fine. Tests contain the same material. He can be very specific about how to write things out but once you get used to it its no problem.
Hey is very bad at teaching. Doesn't explain problems full. He makes alot of mistake that will confuse you. He drops one of your lows test grades. That helps but he goes so fast in the beginning that it's hard to keep up. He doesn't test you every chapter. It more like every five chapters. IRS hard to remember all of the problems on the final.

Professor Tecle is one of the best teachers I have ever had. Always organized. Extremly knowledgeable. He's definitely no nonsense and takes his class very seriously - lazy students need not apply. He will not baby you, but is willing to help when you do not understand. I worked hard and got an A+.
Very good teacher. I failed the class once but doing much better with Mr. Tecle. I really like the way he teaches. I just really really hate algebra!!!

Does not curve at all. He can teach but is an extremely unreasonable hard grader. Takes too many points off and is unforgiving. You MUST do calculations his way and know all formulas. The added online mathlab will get you 5% more but is time consuming (hours). Most people in class were on the border of passing/failing.
Very nice guy. Very good teacher, but is extremely difficult. His tests are HARDER than his practice tests (should be the other way around). Does not curve or round up (say you have average a 79, he will NOT give you a B). Gives ALOT of homework. Have to say, I did know my stuff after his class, but it was the hardest C I ever worked for!
Had him for Algebra and he was great! Very professional and knows his stuff! His classes are harder and he doesn't budge on the grading but if you show up to class and do the work you'll do fine! If I had any questions or problems he was able to clearly answer them. With minimal effort I got an A.
I believe he is a great professor. Very professional, very respectful, and very helpful. Any question that we didn't understand he will help us step by step. I had him for SU/10 Session1. His class is somewhat hard, but if you pay attention and so the homework. I isn't bad at all. I hate when people talk bad about professors this one was awesome...
The tests are harder than the HW and I did all of them, even problems too! There's only two people in class who are not getting a D or worse. One student had an average of less than 10%. She stopped going to class as well as a majority of the class. He grades way too hard on the tests. Drop now.
i have him for onine class. the only thing that there is to complain about are that the tests are alot harder than the practice tests, but they are all based on the same rules and principles. as long as you are studying and doing the work you should pass with no problems. if you do not understand the work at hand you will not score well

Currently in grad school, cant forget his mth150 calcII.Ovoid at calcII lvl.understood n taught < tutors.unorganized, made > errors, unable to answer his probs,says work from later ie aftclass,confused 90%of lect.w/o ton of hrs w/ tutors,dvd,book=no B- in hospital for 4 wks bf final.didnt work w my disability, n No I. had to medical withdrawl.
this professor was unlike any other professor i have ever had. he was very difficult and unreasonable. we were given more quizzes than any other professor in the entire school had given. After many hours at the tutor this class RUINED my 4.0 GPA. I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANY STUDENT TAKE A CLASS INSTRUCTED BY THIS PROFESSOR!!!
DROP NOW, get your money back before you are left with no choice other than to fail the class. The day after the withdraw deadline he told me I could no longer participate in the class because I was absent 4 days, instead of his limit, 3. He is awful, you cannot understand him.
He responds to any questions one has for the content. the class is hard and you MUST do the independant work! if you are expecting to slide by you are wrong, but if you actually plan on applying yourself you should do fine with B.

This class is extremely hard and very fast paced. Especially during the summer but also in the fall and spring semesters. Hes not very helpful, test and webassign problem are way harder than the actual examples and notes he gives us in class. Not willing to help if you have questions he says go to the math .lab

Goes pretty fast, but is clear about it if you pay attention. Examples are always done different ways, to show you every possible angle for tests/quizes. only complaint is that he is forced to rely on the webassign quizes and he clearly doesnt want to.
He is very thorough. He explains the math equation/function from beginning to end, with each step shown. He doesn't just give you an answer and then expects you to figure out how he got there.
this is not an easy class. a lot of people dropped! tests are very hard. pay attention during lessons, because he does not like to repeat himself. he hates to explain anything you should know from a previous math. has an accent but it's not bad at all. he speaks very low, so sit up front! i got an A and i respect prof tecle for the challenge.

Summer Calculus II Class, it was very fast paced. He gives great examples and his tests are almost exact to the notes and examples in class. He is a great professor! :)

Very difficult to understand. Didn't know a word he was saying the whole class. He moved so quickly and didn't stop much to help students. I withdrew before it was too late because there was no way I could make it in that class.

He is a good professor. He gave us review problems and provided a review session prior to the tests. He was happy to stop lecturing and answer questions. Be aware though that this does not mean he is not a challenging professor, because he is. His tests are hard and he gives a lot of graded homework, so be prepared to work hard. I recommend!
Worst professor ever! He is extremely hard to understand, talks very low, and writes small on the board so it's hard to see! He doesn't inform you when you have an assignment due! He doesn't explain questions good either! Your also not allowed to use a calc! I suggest if you get him, get switched over to a better professor if you expect to pass!!

Not as bad as I thought. Sure, he has an accent and his voice is a little soft, but it's understandable. Even better up front. He's not one of the engaging teachers, like the ones that crack jokes, but he gets the job done. He always asks if we have questions, and provides all equations during exam. Just get that hw done as soon as possible.
If you don't have a good understanding of Calc 1. I suggest you don't take this course over the summer. Too fast pace and does not explain the important steps.
This was actually my 2nd time taking stats.. first time I got a D. This time I got a B so obviously I improved. (I took it the first time in a 15 week session, 2nd time 4 week session... so I REALLY improved). Prof tecle was very clear, willing to help whenever needed, & he teaches you how to solve the problems w and wo the calculator. Great prof!

The worst professor I have ever had. He was very cold and distant and does not like to help students. He talks low and no one understands him, this is a learn yourself course. he does not care and it shows. if you want to waste your money take this class. he is extremely hard on top of that he cant teach. Homework is brutal and he gives a lot.
Yes, he has an accent. Yes, the class is hard. But if you do the homework and study for tests you wil get a good grade. I was concerned over being able to pass in the beginning. I did every homework assignment. I did every review. I got an A. I am not good at math. The grade you get from Tecle is an exact reflection of the work you do.

Good dude who really knows his stuff. Brutal tests. He has to teach you so much material though it's hard to blame him. He does really well showing you different situations you'll find yourself in and telling you what stuff will be in calculus, or what you will need to know. Just do the work, and you shall pass.
Prof. Tecle is a tough grader. It is a little hard to understand him when he is explaining the material and gets upset when people want him to explain in detail. Not helpful at all, if anyone had questions he would brush it off or tell them to pay attention. My final grade was a D and I retook it in the summer with Prof. Cooper receiving an A.
Had Tecle for PreCalc 1 and PreCalc 2. As far as what to expect, he shows you the concepts, shows you what he will have on the exam, and takes up a class before the exam to review and answer you questions. As long as you show up to class, and practice the concepts at home you should be fine. The exams pretty much cover what you go over in class.
His classes are hard but he cares about the students. If he sees you are involved and are trying very hard and care about the class he will definitely work with you in helping you succeed, no matter what your situation maybe. Most important thing is to do all the homework and keep up with the concepts presented in class from the first day.
Taking this class after graduating HS with a little calculus experience, I feel terrible for the students with no experience taking the class for credit. My advice: do your homework, read the book during class and use the lectures for reference as his explanations are often unclear. Also, my class didn't get equations to reference during tests.

Professor Tecle always gave great feedback after tests and kept a good monitor on the homework as well. He encouraged everyone to work hard and do their best. Had I been allowed more time to focus on the class, I probably would have done better. He is a solid professor and willing to help out. I would recommend him to anyone.
A really nice guy and he cares about his students. I echo the sentiments of the guy who said he's O.K. if had seen calculus before in high school. If you go in blind he's not the best as your first exposure. 4 Exams, lowest 1 of first 3 dropped. Tons of MMLab hmwk. If you do the homework and do the review you should get no less than an A, B or C...
He's a good guy, but his exams are kind of ridiculous compared to the difficulty of the homework problems in the book or on webassign. He tests on exceptions and will take loads of points off for tiny mistakes. This class was harder than orgo as a result... and I got an a in calc I...
Excellent knowledge of math, and a funny guy. He can be tough to follow sometimes, though. You really need to do the assigned test reviews to prepare yourself for the tests.
Tecle's lectures are boring and confusing. I remember talking to another student who had done well on the past few tests; he said he didn't pay attention to lectures but b/c they were mandatory he would read the book and take notes from it during class
Honestly, he is a great guy. No doubt. His class though... avoid at all cost, unless you have taken calc in high school or taught yourself calc. His class is tough. He speeds through everything. He gives examples that aren't helpful. He gives reviews which are nice. Tons of homework that doesn't relate to the class. Tests are similar to the review.
I wouldn't recommend him to anyone. He is a very hard grader so be prepared to really put in a ton of work. You'll have to study none stop in order to get a passing grade. If someone else is offering the class you should take them instead. Good luck.
Not an unkind professor by any means, but taking his online class was a big mistake. It was very disorganized, and none of the examples were really helpful. The mandatory MyMathLab program+textbook was extremely useless; ended up falling behind very, very fast... would not recommend for people who don't already know the material from HS.
I have taken him twice for two separate classes. First time around not so bad, second time. Things were on wrong pages for study guide and if you emailed him to ask him something very short. If you do what you have to and get good grades you will pass, normally drops lowest test grade. Normally 4 tests and counts homework.
Professor Tecle is one of the best maths professor I have had. I had him for Calculus 3. He gave lots of examples I need the class. Sometimes he went through examples very fast, and sometimes he wrote the examples on the board before class began. Prepare for heavy homework. I remember spending up to five hours to do ONE homework before its due.
He is one of those professors that will make math more complicated that it already is. i failed his class despite putting tremendous effort and almost thought the materials were rocket science. the next semester i retook the class in 8 weeks summer and was getting over 100 with bonus questions. i passed with an A and surplus. dont take this guy

The worst teacher I have ever experienced. Most of the class (around 80%) failed. The school knows he is horrible and does nothing.
Consistently makes mistakes while teaching, leaves class for several minutes without warning and explanation often, and is very belittling towards students and the class if they do poorly on a test.
Dont take if you are working full time or if it's your first time taking the class. I failed calc 2 in the spring and got a C with Techle. If you are going to take this class and you will be working or taking the class for the first time, go through the material yourself first. 4 tests (90%) and hw (10%).
I had him from pre calc 1,2 and calculus 1 and 3. Fantastic professor. If you do the homework you will do well. If you dont keep up you wont do well. Fair grader and really knows his stuff
Worst professor I've ever had. He also uses extremely outdated programs for his online courses. He tries to write his words with a mouse online and he just cannot right even remotely legible. You'd think he could fix that but he doesn't. I'm shocked that CCC hasn't hired him by now by all the complaints about him. I would never take his class again
I am taking his class right now and its the hardest math class I ever taken. I am just passing the class when Im a straight A student at my college institution. I HIGHLY SUGGEST you go to another community college or do it at your university than taking him.
Homework assignments due every week. 4 tests with lowest grade dropped excluding the final test. Tests are insanely hard. Had a 100% homework average but failed almost every test. Had one good test that put me in a good enough position to pass the course.

I took his class online and his lecture videos are just him doing problems no explanations, no extra info, nothing. He gave practice exams that were NOTHING like the actual tests. And he takes so many off for the smallest mistakes. And hw counts for literally nothing so you better do well on all the tests or youll fail. without a doubt.

Literally the hardest online class I have ever took. You then have to take the tests in person and they do not match the absurd mymathlab homeworks and then professor grades super hard. Failed the class after passing every other class I took in college and will have to repeat. Although he is super nice it is not worth the struggle in the class.
This man is on such a power trip, it's sad. He monitors your activity within Canvas & MyLab. He made it mandatory we log in four days a week for "attendance" when we're fully online. If he put more effort into his videos, spoke up & explained everything thoroughly instead of policing your study time, he might actually be decent. Don't bother
HIs accent is very thick and writing is very sloppy. He moves very quickly and grades very harshly. In a class of about 40-50 very few were even getting a C. I would not recommend to ANYONE!
Seems like a nice guy and knows his math, but his online class is a nightmare. His correspondence is robotic and confusing. Homework's 90% of the course but only 10% of the grade. On a timed exam, he expects you to take a photo of your work on your phone and upload it before the test is done. Class averaged 22/100 on the exam. Avoid at all costs.

His online teaching style is horrific. Short pre-recorded lectures where he mumbles over examples, does not explain the concepts well. He has poor communication. He grades very hard, taking points off for minor notation errors. Avoid at all costs if you actually want to learn calculus, I'm fairly good at math, but this course was a real struggle.
Buckle up, dude. I've never felt so isolated for a class. Video lectures are literally from 5-15 years ago. Office hours are not helpful. Basically self taught class so the book is going to be your best friend. The reviews don't help in the slightest. Exams are nothing like the lessons or homework. Horrified to take calc 2. Good luck.

Failed the final which is the only exam that's not allowed to be dropped soooo. So much homework. Terrible lectures. Test don't even have partial credit.
Online class, Im very good at math and have been struggling. Not good at explaining anything. I know online is self taught, but not everyone knows how to use a graphing calculator a little help is appreciated
Forgets whats it like to be a teenager and doesnt take our feedback into consideration. Gives little time for too many questions. How are we supposed to do every question and double check with barely enough time. He expects us to know what to do but cant teach. Over all 10/10 do not recommend.
Math is not a jock and so is Professor Tecle. If you really want to know Math professor Tecle is the real deal. There is no gain if no pain. I was shocked to see all those negative comments but I enjoyed his class so much. I only recommend this class if you like Math and you are ready to offer what it takes.
Professor Tecle is a math gem. He knows his staff so much. If you follow his syllabus and do the assignment on time, you should be fine. I definitely recommend this course to anyone who is ready to learn math.
I didnot have any problem with this professor and got A but I would not recommend because he is extremely strict. He doesnt accept any excuses. I cannot blame him for his rules but sometimes it doesnt fit causal lifestyle. you have to show your work and you have to take picture of all questions and submit them on limited time. No second chance.
This has to be the worst class I have ever taken. This new test, I took 3 tutoring classes, went to every office hours and aced every quiz prior and studied every review. The test was nothing like the review and far more advanced. I tried to submit my work at the end of the test and it did not allow me. I complained to Mr. Tecle and he gave me a 0.
Every Sunday homework was due and it was all online. He only went over the power point of the text book and solved many examples without explaining the use for the math, what the math is, and the goal of finding the solution. He is a very hard grader due to the fact that he gave no partial credit. The tests were much harder than the practice.

my issue is that I like to get things done ahead of time this teacher decides to lock the modules up so we can't get ahead then forces us to have this homework done by a specific date but we are forced to do a knowledge check in order to get back to our work ,this is very time consuming and I like to get things done he should be removed from online

I had to drop this class, does not teach in his lecture at all, and the homework and sample tests are nothing like the exam. You study everything just for the exam to be wayyyy harder with concepts he doesn't cover. Learned more on YouTube. Worst prof I ever had

Amazing professor! Your final grade was 90% test and 10% homework. And one test was dropped. Calculus II is a hard course to take. But his gives a day before every exam for questions that you might have. And explains plenty of problems about each topic Great professor too take as long as you are ready to do plenty of practice problems at home.

This guy is the bane of the modern college student's existance. He is to be avoided at all costs. If i were stuck in a room with Yohannes Tecle, mid-lecture, I would much rather be expelled on the spot. Please do yourself the kindness and have the self respect to find another more suitable professor to aid in your life's journey.
To begin, there are 4 tests and 90% of your grade are these tests. Most of the time, you wont understand what hes saying. My parents have accents, but this is a whole other level. He is very quiet sitting up front doesnt help. My whole class is failing, which isnt totally his fault but this class has destroyed my hopes of maintaining a 4.0.
Buckle up, this class is no walk in the park. The professor has specific teaching methods, so stay engaged and use all resources, like the textbook and tools like Unstuck ai, to succeed. With effort, you can pull through this challenging but manageable course.

His tests are unpredictable but that's up to the student to put in the work and study the material. Good teacher, good person.
Tests are 90% of the grade, with the 10% being homework. The homework is not too long. However, it doesn't help that he grades questions with the process in mind, so if you make a mistake finding the answer, he will deduct points. It feels like he forces you to learn, which sounds bad, but is helpful when taking the tests.
10% HW, 90% tests. 4 tests, dropped lowest from first 3. Tests are impossible though. Thing is, I have a good understanding of everything taught in this class. I can do calculus after taking this. He makes his tests way harder than anything in class or the HW though so it's wraps. Also way too quiet, can't even hear him. Completely ruined my 4.0.
Prof Tecle is a great applied calc professor. At the start of each class, he always asked if we had questions from the notes/homework from last class, which was super helpful. His class is difficult, but it's more so the material. Go to office hours if possible, and try to make a friend or two in class. Also, the view an example on Pearson's good.
He is by far the worst teacher that I have ever had. I don't believe that he likes his job anymore and has devoted his time to punishing smart students by keeping them from graduating with a perfect 4.0 gpa. Compare other ratings to his and you will understand that he's the problem, not the students. He deserves a zero rating, but oh well.
This is the worst professor at CCC, u might as well drop the class. My whole class was literally failing. Whole lecture he whispers, you can't understand a word he says & he lied about adding extra credit to final grade. tests are nothing like what he "teaches" in class. Do NOT take him, he should literally be fired that is how bad he is
Professor Tecle is an acquired taste. His class is tough and requires a lot of dedication. He doesn't teach well, and the practice tests don't reflect the actual test. Also, you are expected to be responsible for your grade; he doesn't care. While he is a bad teacher, he is a good person. I found him very funny and nice when we spoke.
I honestly had a hard time in this class which never happens in math if you are a good student and study 24/7 you shouldn't have a problem always ask questions if you don't understand something because it can be difficult to learn alone. You are given 4 test in which one of the first 3 are drop which are 90% of your grade and then homework is 10%
This professor shouldn't have a job, the way he teaches is like expecting someone to speak fluent in a language they've newly learned. This man makes homework 10% and test 90%, and he doesn't allow extra credit. My advice is to withdrawal, find a new teacher or YouTube videos. This will save your gpa, time and prevent major headaches. GOOD LUCK.
This teacher's in class lectures are incomprehensible. For homework you have to rewatch online lectures which still aren't very productive. Class average for most tests was around a 50%.
Tecle is a good professor, I found his class pretty easy but math has always been one of my strong suits. He does examples in class of the topic at hand and gives a lot of review questions to review for the tests. If you know how to do most of them, you'll do fine on the tests. Four tests and he drops the lowest one besides the last which helps.
His teaching methods are not understandable, seems like he does not know what he is teaching about if you want to fail, take introStats with him
Professor Tecle is the most thorough (nitpicking) grader I have ever had. I received an A- in my Calc 1 course with ease, yet when I gave more effort in this class I barely passed. He is the only professor know who gives 20% credit for showing 90% of your work, AND getting the correct answer. For your sake take someone else.

If you want to fail stats take with him
He has an accent and talks very low which makes it harder to understand. He makes you watch these videos assignments that are like 5 mins long per video, per assignment. You have to watch the videos in order to complete the homework. Mind you…The videos arn't graded but the homework is. Make sure you write EVERYTHING down on the test, or else “F”
