Nice, not difficult at all. easy going professor. I recommend taking the class.
Can you say anything bad about a prof that: brings snacks, has open book tests and the final is open book, has lecture notes available online with test items marked, and has extra books (although they are older editions) for students who can't buy them? Not at all. All she asks for in return is that you show up on time.
so far she is great...she bring snacks for us, and even let us come in a little later just to help out with those who travel from other areas. she is really helpful, and am interested to see how this semester goes...definitely would recommend her!!!
she is a great professor!! very helpful and tests are open book :)..and she brings snacks for us...would def. recommend taking her!! you won't regret it!
She is VERY monotone which causes me to daydream and not focus. Good teacher, just not for me. Brings snacks to class. Exams STRAIGHT from her powerpoints. Powerpoints available on Blackboard. Basically she reads off the powerpoints, and you highlight in the book. Easy.
Monotone? That's BullS%#t this professor is extremely nice. She knows her stuff but its government its not her fault Govt is boring and stressful. Mrs Chapa is a great professor, and she cares about students going forward. Great Professor!!
Great Professor
Ms Chapa is awesome! She makes Govt easy. It's not that you don't learn anything - it's that she works with you to ensure that you learn. Very open to questions and classroom debate. Brought snacks. Offered extra credit homework assignments. If you don't do well in her class, you're not trying! And she did provide snacks for every class. :)
not bad for a college credit
Wonderful teacher!! Learned so much! I would recommend taking any of her classes! She teaches well and genuinely cares about each of her students. Study well and you will pass! She gives you all the information you need!
Ms. Chapa does not want to see her student's fail. Show up to class, complete the study guides, and you'll get an A.
She gives test reviews and lets us know what will be on the exam. Great teacher, will be taking her again for summer !!!
Her class is easy but OMG so boring. Seriously count how many times she says "quote on quote" when she actually isn't even quoting anything. She is very biased in her views. If you want an easy A this is the class for you. If you are a Trump supporter this is not the class for you she likes to bring him up a lot even though its Texas GOVT.
Take her class! Very nice and easy to work with. I took her 2305 and 2306 because I liked her so much. Very easy class and very low stress. Her tests are the review she gives you. Tests are multiple choice.
Easiest gov. class ever! first test and final are both open books AND she drops the lowest test grade. No notes needed, she will give you reviews per unit, and will specify exactly what on the review will be on the test. Extra credit offered on some tests, and if you do all paper assignments you'll walk out with an easy "A" !
There are 5 tests worth 80% and four or five short essay assignments that are 20% of the final grade when combined with score for attendance and participation. Reviews are online and she goes over them on the day of the tests. Tests look exactly like reviews. Teaches from the book but easy class to make an A in.
Easiest government class I've ever taken. 5 mul. choice tests, 5 short essay and attendance/class participation is what you need to pass this class. It is possible to make an A without all the papers as long as score well enough on the tests. Lectures are posted on blackboard so no note taking necessary during class. Low stress class - easy A!
Very easy to understand the material. She sets you up for success not failure. Hard to fail her class if you just do the study guides and pay attention.
Love her!! She makes this boring class easy and entertaining. She also brings candy for night classes. Ive taken her twice and wish I could have her for all my classes. She made government do-able :-) Highly recommend!!
quote on quote great class !!
Lectures w/a PowerPoint, sometimes got distracted and would take forever to start the lecture but she sometimes let us out early. You just read the chapters she assigns then take the test(took 2306 over summer)easy class, all you need to do is the work she assigns+ study and you'll be fine for the tests/final exam! And she says qoute on qoute a lot
Easy, easy, class! Her exams are out of her study guides and she reviews right before the exams. I mean you have to sleep in her class and in order to fail. Also drops your lowest grade! She overkills it with her quote on quote at times but it's entertaining. Also gives extra credit in case you need it.
she's absolutely the best prof i've ever had. use the study guides and you will pass. show up to class because she takes attendance very seriously. she gave me one paper in usgovt and there was a TON of extra credit. if you are struggling in the class, tell her bc she wants to help. she will drop your lowest test grade too.
Very wonderful professor. Teaches very well and actually cares about students. She explains things very well and helps you if you are struggling. Definitely recommend taking her for ALL classes she teaches. Passed all the classes from her with A or B's.
Professor Chapa was the easiest professor I've ever had. Don't waste $15 on the textbook, you won't ever use it. She goes over the reviews in class, so passing tests are easy! She takes attendance for a grade, there are 4 tests (2 open book) drops lowest test, and a written assignment. She also says "quote on quote" A LOT.
Professor Chapa is amazing. She makes sure you understand how the government works and wants your feedback/opinions. I'm definitely taking her class again for GOVT 2306!
Professor Chapa is one of the most caring teachers out there. She is an advocate for education and provides her students with almost every tool to succeed in her class. Her lectures can be dull and at times she will get frustrated when her students don't participate, but her humor makes up for it.
Professor Chapa is a down to earth, caring professor. I had her for TX GOVT in the Summer. We had 5 exams. 2 were open book. No essays, all multiple choice. and even drops your worst grade. She provides a study guide as well as powerpoint over the days discussion.
Chapa is nice, easy, and definitely a step up from my last govt teacher. However, her lectures are kind of dull and hard to follow, making it difficult to write notes. But she has reviews for tests, so passing isn't difficult. I just wouldn't recommend her for a morning class. The paper was over a movie of our choice though, which was fun!
it was easy but the power points were hard to follow
Took govt 2305 over the summer which i totally recommend. 5 tests total and lowest grade gets dropped. ALSO she does count attendance which can help your grade in the end. Lecture heavy! But sometimes you'll get out early. Test reviews almost exact as test. Read your chapters bc not everything is on the review.
Quote unquote (take her, youll get the joke). Very easy instructor, however I definitely left class feeling like I learned a lot. Study your review for the exams and youll do fine.
Mrs. Chapa was great. I took her for both US and Texas Government. She goes off the PowerPoint but she also will talk about current events. First and Final exam you can use the book and just go straight word for word for the answers. Plus one of your assignments is to watch a movie, she even let me choose "The interview". Awesome professor.
Professor Chapa is hands down the best professor I have had thus far in college. She is very clear about the grading criteria throughout the semester. There are some issues we did not see eye-to-eye on and some that we did, but that is why I like her. She remains objective and non-judgemental while accurately informing you on the role of the Govt
Prof Chapa cares greatly for her subject and makes her lectures interesting by providing real world examples that the students can relate to. She provides test reviews which, if studied, help greatly in maintaining an A in the course. She is always happy to answer questions. Coursework is not overbearing in any sense of the word.
Professor Chapa, Her test are based off her test reviews. There are some question in the test that must be answered by a short paragraph. But other than that if you study you should get an A.
Professor Chapa is awesome. Her tests are super easy and she goes over the review right before you take your test, making the material fresh. She is nice, funny and her lectures are entertaining! I wish I could take her for every class! An easy A if you put in work and show up for class.
Best teacher I've had at ACC, amazing distance learning experience, has turned Texas Government into a subject I enjoy learning about, 5 tests, if you read and go over the power-points you have an easy A.
Great teacher, very very kind. PARTICIPATION matters. Clear grading and AWESOME test reviews. Easy A if you do the work.
Professor Chapa is an amazing teacher, she has a clear grading structure that is set up for your success as long as you study the chapters she goes over. Professor Chapa ties current political events with the chapters she is covering in a non-partisan way. Beware, she has an attendance policy, where if you miss too much she drops a letter grade.
Prof. Chapa's "lectures" are a series of disorganized PPTs that do not prepare you to take the exams. Read the book if you care about Government. DO NOT take her online class if you area Gov major and need to know this stuff. She forgot a week in her syllabus and forgot to post a discussion topic. Worst ACC experience I have had.
EASY, EASY, EASY!
Would certainly recommend taking her class! No homework, No textbook required, She gives you reviews, plus she goes over the study guides before the tests. Got an A in her class.
I took this class for the TX Gov credit instead of taking it at a 4-year university, and her online course is easy and did not take up much of my time. You take 5 tests total, and she drops one of them. Her tests come straight from her test reviews, and the test reviews can be easily filled out by her powerpoints or the textbook.
Professor Chapa is amazing! I took her for Texas government fall 2018 and I loved her class! Very clear what is expected of you, 5 exams and pop quizzes. The study guides outline everything the exams will cover as long you study them youll do great. Textbook wasnt required but attendance matters. 10/10 recommend!
Prof Chapa made tests clear for us, several tests have been open-book, or printed powerpoint lectures, her lectures are interesting enough (considering the material). I would recommend her.
Her class is really easy, easy stuff to understand. She can be biased though, she sometimes reveals her own political point of view, maybe not directly but yeah you get the idea.
This class was super easy, the test review is exactly like the test and she does a review on test day. Attendance is mandatory and the lectures are boring but the class is an easy A, I would take her for another class. Don't get the book you won't need it.
Take her! She really cares for you and want you to pass!! Easy A just attend all the classes and do the 2 easy papers she gives you to do and your good to go. Also she goes over the review before the test and it helps a lot.
AMAZING PROFESSOR, I Wish i would've taken her for my other government class. she made no changes to the syllabus and even though her class was online, she responded to emails very fast and gave a clear explanation of every assignment
I love Professor Chapa!! I took her for both of my govt classes, so I'm going to miss taking her again. :( She has 4 exams, and then also a final. She will drop your lowest test grade from the first 4. Her exams are really easy, plus she goes over the review right before the test so that helps a lot! Don't get the book, just print the lectures.
wonderful teacher and responds quickly to emails
Her class was very easy if you're just taking the class for credit. She just lectures from incomplete power-points that are 3 years old and will end class abruptly as soon as she gets tired of teaching. Overall, I didn't learn very much but I passes the class with very little effort because she will go over the test review right before the test.
Professor is sweet but her powerpoints are very confusing and are incomplete. However, most of the review is word for word for exams. She responds quickly to emails and drops the lowest grade. Easy material, Textbook optional but recommended if you want help with the review questions. Clear grading criteria and one simple writing assignment.
Professor Chapa is an amazing Gov't teacher. She runs her lectures off a powerpoint, book is not required but comes in handy for two of her open book/notes exams. She calls roll every class and uses a point system to grade attendance, but understands when you have a legit reason for not coming, just email her. She's AWESOME! Easy A for sure!!
I took her online class so I didn't have much interaction with her, but her class was well-structured and overall a great experience. I felt like I learned a lot. She gives you review packets for the tests which were very helpful. The tests align with everything covered in the textbook chapters. I was able to succeed in the shortened 12-week class.
Easy class, learned little. If you read the text, do the reviews, and study for the tests, you should get an A. Poor communication. Will respond quickly but its as if she doesnt fully read or understand emails. Though she states otherwise get the newest text bc slides & older text dont answer . Forgot to put the final in the testing center.
She is very interesting but she is an easy grader. For one of her exams she allows for the book to be used. Easy grader . Show up to class and you can pass.
Great Professor. I took her for BOTH Texas and U.S Government. She uses the social and political things happening in present day and includes them her lectures . I will warn you, if you are the person that loves to be on Your Phone during class , I would not take her. She Will call you out. Other than that , She is awesome and hilarious at times.
Great, clear, organized professor. She has some powerpoint lectures and you're graded on current events, tests, and one written assignment. I took the 5 week summer course so I'm not sure if the few things I was graded on was because of that. Study guides are taken from the test so do them!
Whoever rated her high must have been given an A to do so. I am currently taking her online course, DO NOT RECOMMEND. Her Power Points are structured for an in-class lecture as they make absolutely no sense. Her study guides do not apply to the test whatsoever. I'd drop this class but I need it as a prereq. She should not be teaching online.
Y'all take the online class. It's so worth it. She's amazing.
I rated her poorly mid semester because the class was led by having us read a virtual textbook/do quizzes and it was all around awful. I got bad grades on the exams and the PowerPoints seemed like they were meant for an in-person lecture. I just got my grade & somehow got a B. So although I learned absolutely nothing, I'd definitely take her again.
I recommend you to go for Yolanda if you are looking for a caring instructor. She will post the powerpoints on the BB and provide the sample questions. read your book and answer those questions, you will make an easy A.
This was one of my more difficult classes. Not because she is a particularly tough grader, but because she expects thorough knowledge of the content and for students to demonstrate that knowledge on tests. Although, she was considerate about my situation and allowed me to extend my final. If you are an avid reader unlike myself, you'll do great.
I highly recommend taking Professor Chapa if you have to take any GOVT class. She posts everything you need to know on her powerpoints and is very accessible over Collaborate/Emails. I highly recommend going to her study sessions because she will give hints as to whats on the tests.
Very easy class. I did struggle with the Exams since they aren't open textbooksyou're recorded using Lockdown Browser. I struggled to remember the definitions of the terms. Prof. Chapa is a good teacher. The textbook is free. You do Mindtap activities for each chapter, 5 exams with around 25 M/C questions. 5 discussions weekly for current events.
Prof. Chapa was a good professor. There are 5 tests, which were pretty straightforward- MC (sometimes there was extra credit) and she is not a hard grader. The PowerPoint lectures did not always make sense, and the tests often had cumulative questions. I did not use the textbook- I was fine. Email early with questions and she will clarify terms.
There are 13 chapters, each chapter has around 9 sections and 3 quizzes, every two chapters is a test that is not over what you read. There is enough hw/quizzes to fill up 4 full days and this is supposed to be for high schoolers. There are power points that are vague and test review that is just definitions. Nothing preps you for the test.
I took this as an online class. I had little to no communication with her but she does make herself accessible as needed. Very organized and clear with what you need to do to pass her class. Get ready for discussion posts. Tests are a little tricky but the class overall is easy enough to pass. Lockdown Browser required for testing.
Nice lady, but very very unorganized. For my class, there were two separate occasions where she had us studying the wrong chapters for exams. Her test reviews pretty helpful, but absolutely not when she's reviewing material for the wrong test. She'll just say "sorry" if it happens and assign a 3 page paper for EC that won't raise your grade at all.
VERY UNORGANIZED! A few tests were on chapters that we hadn't covered. Through out the semester I kept having to email her about the syllabus at one point she had mistakenly gave us the same assignment for 3 weeks. The assignment were not difficult but you just never what was due and when. Making it extremely difficult to study!
This is one of the easiest classes ever. Students would turn in work late and she would even push back deadlines for everyone to make sure that we were on the same page. if you read the textbook, answer the questions at the end of the chapter and, her study guide lectures you will pass with an A. You do not need to listen to her chapter lecture
amazing teacher! I made an A in this course! I would recommend taking this instructor.
Exams are via Respondus Lockdown Browser. Class assignments are straightforward. Weekly readings from ebook, posting current event + discussion, and exam at end of week.
Professor Chapa was an overall great professor. I took her 8-week online gov 2306 class. The grading criteria are very clear. Grades consist of discussion boards once a week, chapter readings and activities, and 5 Exams. Since it's an 8-week class, it's usually 2 chapters a week, so just be prepared for that. Overall great and easy class.
This course wasn't my favorite but I really didn't have any issues!! Government is just not my favorite subject but professor Chapa made it easier. Her extra credit helps a lot and I didn't feel that listening to the lectures was needed! I would recommend taking her course.
I got away with barely reading the chapters, however, completing the activities within the textbook are a must (and easy). Print out the exam review. Listen to Professor Chapa recorded lecture going over the review word for word, and almost every question on the exam she went over. Current event every two weeks is a breeze. Good luck. Easy A.
I took the 8-week Government course with her and it was not great. The timeline of assignments is confusing and not well communicated. She hardly responds to emails and when she does, they are confusing and unhelpful responses. The assignments themselves are easy, but communication was terrible. I think she forgot she was teaching the course
Online activities were easy. If you listen to the recorded test reviews you will easily pass the tests.
Her online activities were easy. The current events/forums were easy too. She gave a lot of chances for our class who missed to submit the forums or online activities with a lower grade. Getting a lesser point is always better than a zero. I love her reviews and recordings which are extremely helpful.
I took the 5 week session and it was an easy A. You need to complete chapter-wise intext quizzes for which you get 2 attempts. The class consists of weekly proctored exams covering 3 chapters at a time. The exams are super easy since they are word to word from the provided study guide and your lowest exam gets dropped.
She was very disorganized. Had the wrong test posted multiple times and her instructions were difficult to understand. Also I don't recommend taking her class if you are a little bit "conservative "
She is very sweet! Take her class you will enjoy it!
This course was very easy! I would highly recommend it. Tests entirely based on study guide given to you. Prof goes over study guide answers in the class before the test. No need to read textbook, and all assignments are online. Multiple attempts on assignments and quizzes. One current event assignment per two chapters in discussion board format.
I have to say, I'm not the best in government classes, and this class was no doubt hard. Just make sure to study for the tests and do all the extra credit, professor Chapa gives adequate curves and is easy to communicate with.
Easiest class I've ever taken. You can find quizlets for the test and the tests are only 25 multiple choice questions. Then you have the mindtap assignment each week that you can also find the answers too. I forgot to do them 3/5 of the weeks and still ended up with a A somehow. Take this class.
Chapa was very straightforward from the beginning. Since it was online, make sure to stay disciplined and do the work on time. The work in the textbook is pretty simple; sometimes the reading just gets a little tedious. Discussion posts were pretty easy and didn't take too much time to do. Make sure to do the study guide before each test!
This class is SO EASY. It's genuinely hard to get anything other than an A+. Homework answers are re-posted all over the internet. I typically only spent 30 minutes to 1 hour weekly on this class. Please do not take this class in person; you would be wasting your time.
Easy if work is done
TAKE HER CLASS! Super easy class, she is very understanding if you communicate with her! She is great!
Coming soon…
I took summer semester class texas state and local government 2306 with yolanda chapa. she's very nice and a good professor. she cares about her students and is very respectful. if you miss an examm she gives you time and will open it again if you explain why you didn't finish it. Her assignments are easy to understand.
this teacher sucks. don't take her. she's so dry, responds fast but does not gaf about you lol.
