I took this class because I needed a College Algebra course. Manzano is a great teacher, very helpful, and even cracks a few jokes in class. She is definitely a teacher to take if you need College Algebra.
Good teaching method.. good at getting to your questions... fun times...
She is a fun professor. Her lectures are easy for everyone to understand and she throws some humor in from time to time. I hate math but I love her class.
She is teaching at Eastfield now. I hate math but she makes it fun and easy to understand. Great attitude and willing to help as often as needed. Great sense of humor tossed into lecture.
Professor goes to fast in lectures.
Goes fast in lecture. If math is not your thing I would not take her. It's something to say when the book makes more sense than lecture. Be ready to teach yourself the material :( I took a summer class had to drop was gonna tank my GPA, maybe shes better in the fall...
I love this teacher. She explains things very well and and is extremely helpful when you need it. She can go a bit fast, so take her in the fall/spring if math isn't your thing. She's a great teacher who listens to what the students have to say.
The professor listens to what you have to say. You do have to ask questions otherwise she will continue the lecture. She does give plenty of time for students to ask question. By far she is the best teacher you can take if math is not easy for you. She made the class fun and bearable plus she is easy on the eyes, lol.
She's a very lovely person, but kind of full of herself. Goes way too fast in lecture. If you did have questions, by the time you've finished writing down the notes on the board(which all come from the txt book anyway)she's already moved on to the next topic, really no time to ask q's. Test are ridiculously hard too. Not reccomended for Trig.
Prof Manzano is so sweet and fun! It's a lot of material to cover, but she makes it easy, and she keeps a strict schedule. But she is a great teacher, and she is always available if you need help.
Great teacher! Ive taken her 2 semesters already. She makes math fun & easy, shes funny & always has a smile on. I recommend her to everybody.
Goes fast in lecture, test are hard, have due dates for mymathlab-which is good. very helpful if you ask for it..
Mrs Manzano is an awesome teacher! she is very willing to help, and encourages you along the way! Best math teacher that i've ever had!
Ms. Manzano is a sweet person. She made math interesting and easy, she is very funny and answers all your questions. The review for the final exam was VERY helpful. I would recommend this teacher to everybody, it was an easy A.
I got A, however, don't take this teacher. You have to work extremely hard to get an A. She makes you confuses you
Her syllabus is very confusing
TAKE MANZANO. I took Statistics online. I e-mailed her at least 60 times during the three week course asking questions about the material and she responded within 5 minutes about 90% of the time and never made me feel like I was a bother. Math is hard but a great professor can make all the difference. I learned a lot and had a good experience.
She helped me so much when I logged in to the wrong class she let me make I up. she helped me when I didn't understand something because I was over working my self. Over all she is a good teacher.
I took her summer Trig course. She moved fast but she explained everything. I made an A and it was all because she was awesome at explaining the hows and whys of Math! I was even able to go to her with questions from my Cal I class and she wasn't even my professor. She is always willing to help you and does it with a smile.
She is a great teacher I highly recommend her. If you are looking for an A then definitely she is the one to take. She is the type of teacher that cares for her students.
Professor Manzano is an extremely nice teacher. She explains difficult topics and really wants you to understand. Attendance is necessary and a grade.
She has been the best math professor I have ever taken. She explains everything clearly and is always willing to help.
She is a phenomenal teacher. She makes sure her students are not shy to ask questions by making herself very accessible to them. It is apparent that she cares for her students and wants each and everyone of them to be successful in her class. I cannot recommend Mrs. Manzano enough, she is truly an amazing teacher. You will not regret it.
Excellent teacher. I hate math, and am horrible at it. I took the course online, which I wouldn't really recommend, but she offered every possible way to help. She replies to emails quickly. All work is done on mymathlab and 2 tests on location. For someone who didn't know if I could pass at all, I ended up with a B. Highly recommend taking her.
I hate math, but she made me understand it. Funny, helpful and nice to look at. Take her class.
Just trying to figure out what the whole tattoo on her back might look like. Also a terrific teacher. Inspirational. Passionate.
She is an amazing math teacher! She explains everything so well! Her test aren't too hard but you do have to know what you're doing. She teaches you everything you need to know for the test and responds quick to emails ! Take her!!!!!!
Professor Manzano in good in answering emails, if you are gone take online class for statistics with her you need to be careful of bunches of homework. Tests are not hard but you may be amazed 3 minutes for each 20 questions. Not hard test you will get bad grade just cos of her bad timing manner. Becarefull dont take her.
Why some professors are at collage to horrify students instead of learning, the reason this professor belongs. I took her online class and want you to take test on testing center if not you only have 1 hour for 20 questions which you will score bad. For class she does not teach she will give you limitless homework on daily basis. Abstain from her
Very engaging exploration of Trigonometry. Manzano is an exceptional Math professor because she is able to relate to her students and thoroughly explain the topics at hand. Do your work, be methodical, communicate. She is very approachable, so don't hesitate to talk with her out of class.
I am so glad I found Yolanda's class. She really cares and will work with you to make sure you get the grade you want. When you're stuck, she helps and gives big curves on tests. This is not an easy A. Don't take this class if you're lazy or don't follow directions. I recommend her all the time.
Statistics can be intimidating, so a good teacher makes all the difference. Professor Manzano and Statway allowed me to fall in love with stats. Show up, participate, do the work, ask for help if you need it, and you will pass. If Statway is an option, take it!
You should take her for college algebra. I'm in the computer class and she still manages to make it fun. Definitely the best math professor at Richland. I make my schedule around her classes because she explains things in a way that actually makes sense.
She is great! Had her for algebra and she was always there helping me throughout. She is a nice and easy going person. She will do whatever she can you get you to understand and shes always flexible. She also help me out with 2 letters of recommendation. Not a lot of professor will do the extra for students. I how highly recommend her.
Professor Manzano is an amazing professor. I took her for DMAT and I honestly hated math with all of my heart, but she made the class easy to understand and would further explain it if needed. She was truly a helpful professor and everything she writes on the board is always in a straight line and readable.
The textbook is on My Math Lab, plus videos that recap her lesson. This teacher was very clear. As long as you paid attention and actually went to class so you don't miss the group quizzes, you will pass. Oh, and do the homework for each lesson. She was a really good teacher. If I had more math classes to take, I'd take them with her.
Amazing professor. She is very nice and willing to help when you don't understand. She tries to explain things thoroughly and makes sure you don't have any questions before she moves on. She does make you work in groups at times. Do your homework on My Math Lab on time and go over your notes before the test and you will do fine!
Great Professor, her feedback and her ways of teaching. Made everything crystal clear. Would definitely take her again if i could.
Professor Manzano is an angel sent from heaven. Took her may term class online. It wasnt easy but it also wasnt hard. She is extremely nice and helpful.
I've hated math since grade school but this Professor has made me second guess that hate
Taking math online is sure a hell lot of homework, but it is necessary. I took MATH 2342 online and did much better since there is so much homework to practice with. I love her final, take the class and you will see how lovely the final is. I also took MATH 1413 and it was so easy. Too bad she doesn't teach MATH 1316 (Trig) T.T
Great professor that taught me life lessons.
I took 1316 and 2342 with her. It seems like she gave you the homework to practice and you would study by yourself to solve problems out. If you don't understand anything, stop by her office and she will guide you. I don't like Statistics, so I must work hard to get good grade. All in all, she is not a bad choice
This professor was terrible at answering my questions. She does not give enough time to take tests, her homework assignments were tedious and there was something due everyday so you'd need set aside 2 hours out of your life EVERY single day. And on top of that, she graded everything extra late.
Professor Manzano is a great teacher and she does a good job of explaining things. Always do your homework and turn it in on time. Do NOT skip her class, you will not pass! If you have questions on anything, go to her office & she will be glad to help! Overall really good teacher and I would highly recommend taking her class.
The only reason this professor has such a high score is that she is easier than most other professors because she doesn't understand and therefore doesn't test you on the hard material. I took her for Pre-Cal and she couldn't answer or understand any of the complicated topics. She shouldn't teach above algebra. She's bad for engineering majors.
It was an easy class
I wish I could Take Professor Manazo for every math class. She is so awesome, for distance learner she offers skype and phone call appointments to go over math problems. She is a very talented professor you wont regret enrolling in her class, Her tests cover the homeworks so be diligent on doing them and try acing them Got an A in the Class :)
Prof. Manzano is an excellent instructor, and she will go out of her way to help you however she can. I took her online section, and she went above and beyond to help me with technical issues in order to maintain my progress in the class. She is extremely caring and knowledgeable.
I took Statistics with Yolanda. The homework assignments are repetitive, time consuming and some of the videos do next to nothing to explain how to work the problems. The hardest part of this class was finishing the tests on time. I raced to finish every single test. She gives you far too little time for the amount of problems. I do not recommend.
She was very nice and always responded to emails very quickly! Took this course as a 4 week course and ended up with an A. She lets you start ahead so I recommend doing that, you can even work on your exams ahead of time. There's a ton of homework so just stay on top of it. It's not that hard but you need to put in the effort.
Prof. Manzano is an excellent instructor. She response so quick emails. I took her online section. She is extremely caring and knowledgeable. She is great . I will take calss again.
I am not sure why anyone would recommend this Professor. I took her MATH 2342 Stats class online over the spring. The work is unrealistic. Homework everyday that takes hours to complete. No information on calculator shortcuts, must learn that by yourself. Videos are no help, test are really hard. Unless you have time to go in for tutoring avoid her
I just finished taking Professor Manzano for Stats 4 week flex course. She is by far the best math professor I have come across!! The information is there on MyStatLab and plus she is quick to reply to emails. Her course schedule is spread out evenly. You can make an A in this course if you just manage your time. Take her! You wont regret it!
I just finished taking Professor Manzano for Stats 4 week flex course. She is by far the best math professor I have come across!! An A is possible!
Although attendance isn't mandatory, she did have mini quizzes at the end of class that was a grade and used to take attendance. Overall her class wasn't too difficult and her lectures were easy to follow. She'd interact and check to see if anyone was lost or confused. She was willing to help me individually on a question until I understood it.
I took Professor Manzano's class this spring for a flex term. I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly she would respond to my questions when I emailed her at all hours of the day. I work full time and wasn't always able to come to her office hours, but she always worked with my schedule to see me at different times. Strongly recommend her.
I have had a perfect GPA up until my final semester because of Yolanda Manzano. It is as if she sets you up for failure. On homework you get a limited chance to make 85% or higher or else you cannot move on to other assignments. She clearly does not know the material. I advise you not to be mislead by the good reviews. I was.
I would NOT recommend taking her class. The work is easy if you understand math, if not, good luck. TONS of hw. But, as a professor she is terrible; she has a very bad, sarcastic attitude and doesn't seem to want to help people achieve. Ex; she kicked a student out & gave him a zero for pop quiz for being literally TWO minutes late. Unreasonable.
I took her for the wintermester stats class. And to be honest I died. I would study about 3-5 hours a day (minimum). I hated the software she used cuz the grading was annoying, but she was a really good professor. She literally answeres emails in the middle of the night. I studied a lot but managed to get an A. Prepare to study if taken in winter.
Ive never failed a class until I got into Professor Manzanos class. I do not recommend anyone taking her as a teacher. If you struggle in math this class is Hell. If you get more than 4 or 3 questions wrong on a homework it makes start the whole section again. The tests are very difficult. Its like she doesnt want you to prosper.
Professor Manzano took me from mathematically ambivalent to passionate about statistics. Her lectures are amazingly helpful (complete with color-coded notes on the whiteboard), she is accessible all the time and always willing to walk you through any math problem, and she's overall just an amazing and knowledgeable person.
I took her MATH1324 Online 8-week term. It was a nightmare experience. I do NOT recommend her, take her at your peril. Homework due everyday and it takes several hours to complete due to lots of questions. Within 30 minutes of completing each exam you've to show your work and email her everything as a single PDF document, if you don't you get zero
Had a horrible semester with software issues with tests & Professor Manzano was *always* there for me and responded to emails in less than 30 mins. Sent out amazing weekly emails with genuine & encouraging words. Quick grading. Class was digestible and not difficult, though you do have to put time and effort in to succeed. TAKE HER CLASS!
I actually took this class last year at a different school, in a live classroom. I am doing so much better on this online class because the software is better and clearer in explaining not only the steps by showing your missteps in the calculations. But you do have to be organized and stick to a schedule for when items are due.
MATH 1316 is a fairly challenging course; expect to spend lots of time on HW, studying, and especially on online quizzes which can be up to 50 questions. However, the professor guides you through difficult problems in detail and gives clear lectures. The professor is very passionate about the material and is always open to questions from students.
The class didn't get difficult for me until the last few chapters. If you don't pay attention in this class, your grade will show it. She is an amazing professor, and very understanding as well. I missed many classes due to my mental health but she was very understanding. She is not the reason for my low grade, I am.
This Professor is extremely nice and thoughtful and answers any and all questions. When I needed clarification for anything she was willing and thoroughly explained everything. She may give a little extra work, but overall she is good.
For fast track, there is homework everyday and really time consuming, hours. Exam are heavily graded, wants you to explain everything, no multiple choice and wants you to show your work. If you ask for details on anything you get an arrogant response. She seems too comfy with her job. Doesn't care. Class is self taught.
Math 1316 is a challenging course already and professor Manzano tries her best to explain it in a way her students will understand it. However, I would not recommend this teacher for people who mare planning to not show up to class or not pay attention, your grade will be a reflection of your effort both online and in class.
we need more professors like this! she is very direct with the content that she teaches and those exact some concepts will show up on the unit tests. And the unit quizzes posted on my math lab are extremely helpful when it comes for preparing for tests. because some of those questions end up repeating themselves on the actual test!
Professor Yolanda was great! She is very specific with how she wants things submitted but she is lenient if you make a mistake. In the last weeks of class, many of us were under quarantine due to COVID-19. She adjusted her late policy knowing that most of our home schedules dramatically changed. She was available for help and responded quickly!
This class is UNREASONABLE. I dropped twice before taking stats at Brookhaven. -Hawkes forces restarts after 3 wrong questions. -HOURS of homework due DAILY. -Expects you to explain your entire thought process for questions on tests or you get no credit. This professor reinforces statistics as bean counting math. AVOID this class at all cost.
signed up for her May Mester class. The course is hard but you WILL pass if you just do your homework and make at least a C on the test. She drops the lowest exam and replaces it for the final exam if you did better. The hawkes is HARD but its not impossible you just have to have a lot of time. If your a bad test taker dont take this onli class .
If you take Maymester BEWARE. You teach yourself & it's 5 hours of work PER DAY: 4 chapters, complete homework & a quiz over each chapter DAILY (weekends too), tests every 3 days w/Lockdown Browser. I've taken Calc 2 at the college level & it was still hard. Do NOT take this course Maymester if you work or struggle w math. Prof was great though!
Let me tell you something about this class, if you are good at math then this should be a breeze, but if you struggle then you should avoid this like the plague. It is a self taught class, there were no pre recorded lectures and don't get me started on Hawkes, it's useless. Horrible experience, save yourself your time, and your mental well being.
She is very entitled, arrogant and rude. She is not helpful when explaining questions. She deducts points from your written work over the smallest detail without explanation. I would highly recommend to NOT to take her. It is important to find a good math teacher and she definitely is not a good one. She is way too comfortable with her job.
the only class I am close to failing. she explains really good, just be prepared to reach out. she is very tough on grading tests, she wants an explanation on how you got a formula... but she gives a good personality, but tests are what hit heavy. just do the homework and show as much as you can on the test as well as VERY CLEARLY and you'll be fin
Lots of work you can't fall behind, and only accepts one type of format.
I am a very hardworking student. I always get As, I try my best to do a good job in everything I do. This class was extremely difficult, I imagined she would give lectures but she never did, just sent out weekly emails to let us know dumb stuff we already knew that was in the syllabus. There is a PowerPoint slide which we are supposed teach oursel
This class stressed me out a lot. Not necessarily because of the course material, but because of how strict she is on how you have to turn things in. She uses lockdown browser and if something goes wrong that you cannot control, she will not let you make it up. I recommend emailing her nicely though if something does happen because she may help you
This was the most frustrating class I've taken in a while. It was online for the wintermester and something was due each day, don't take if you work at all or have any life in the 4 weeks that it takes place. The textbook is completely self-run and the teacher isn't helpful. The examination should prompt you to upload photos instead of exiting.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS IF IT'S ONLINE. Incredibly and ridiculously difficult homework. Hawkes doesn't explain half the stuff that'll be on the Homework. Each homework will probably take you upwards of 3 or so hours to finish. Lesson would explain one or two things, the homework will include things you haven't been taught yet. Frustrating.
I do admit, Manzano is a good teacher, but her materials are near to impossible. I was lucky to have passed considering the difficulty. Although she was helpful when accessible, she should not grade so harshly considering her materials are based entirely on online materials that she didnt bother teaching herself.
I am generally an A student, this was my first C. Stats is hard no matter who you take, esp if you're not into it. There's a lot to remember. Do NOT take this in a flex semester unless you have time to do the same number of assignments (40+). She barely gave feedback on tests & would only discuss feedback on call IF you ask. I hear she's good irl.
First off, even though this class was online, that doesn't mean a professor should just hand you everything and not TEACH. The textbook and videos are who knows how old.. I'd rather watch lectures created by her to understand the material or at least hold review sessions, SOMETHING, to help us learn the countless amount of information.
Easy class if you take good notes and pay attention she gives a lot of opportunities for extra points
Had her for the paired DMAT and Statistics class. During lectures, she would stop to ask if we understood everything or had any questions. I honestly probably could have got a higher grade if I did not procrastinate so much. All the homework was done through Hawkes. She was nice and responded to emails quickly. Be prepared for a group project!
Very tough grader, homework every single day and were due everyday, will give you a zero on a test for not showing a clear photo of yourId or title your test correctly if u took it online, got a C in this class, 100% do not recommend
I took professor Manzano for trig as a flex term in person when I was a college freshman and there was a lot of work but that's how it is for a flex term. She is very smart, teaches well, and is patient when students have questions. The only reason I got a B is because I got lazy and did not try on the final exam. Ended the class with an 88.
DO NOT TAKE HER! she is the worst professor Ive take at Dallas College. The work itself is not hard if you do the homework which is a lot. Exams are worth 50% and they are proctored. She is extremely picky and wants everything perfect so even if you do the homework and get 100 it won’t t really matter if you did bad on her exams.
It's almost impossible to pass this class with an A if it's online. She is extremely test heavy and very nitpicky when it comes to showing work on the test. She added an external camera last minute before an exam. Homework is due every other day (including weekends) but barely account for the final grade.
Worst class that I've taken! Homework is every other day that does not boost your grade at all. The review tests are about 30 questions, that also does not boost your grade. Tests are worth 50% of your grade with 10-15 questions, some not even on the review. Final exam is worth 25%. ALL TESTS REQUIRE RECORDING &IS A VERY PICKY GRADER! DO NOT TAKE.
Can't believe im wasting my time reviewing a teacher but this class was a joke. She doesn't care if anyone passes this class. Gave me a zero on a test bc I forgot to turn in my scratch sheet of paper. There is a reason her class is the last class to fill. Save your self the headache and get any other teacher. Yolanda you are a clown. Negative rating
Mrs. Yolanda is very nice. We use Hawkes learning for the curriculum. Make sure to turn your assignments in on time and you will be good. She is a very strict grader when you are testing online. MAKE SURE TO FOLLOW ALL PROCEDURES STRICTLY OTHERWISE YOU GET A 0. But you can take test in the testing center for 5 extra points. I hope to have her soon.
Prof.Manzano is a wonderful teacher. Stats made sense! Very helpful, kind, positive, and knowledgeable. In class teachings, online assignments: 3 tries on everything but exams! Very easy to get an A, but the math is still difficult. Expect 1-2 hours minimum HW after each class. CALCULATOR REQUIRED (TI-83/84) (1st few weeks, calc not needed)
I took Statistics in Maymester, online. It is A LOT of work. Working full time and being in an accelerated class is not recommended. Although it was tough, Professor Manzano took the time to check in on me when I missed my first test, review my exams, and overall was very accessible. Professor Manzano was kind, but fair.
I Never really liked any type of math but when I took her Stats class I started to really enjoy it.Her class does require you to TRY if you don't you won't see the grade you want to get. She's Fair and offers help as much as possible it just determines how much you are willing to put in time for this class.
I took this class as an online 3 month class and the work load was pretty good! The homework is very explanatory and breaks down every bit of the problems! Miss Manzano is also very nice and helps as much as she can to help you understand the work! If you need help do not be afraid to ask! She is really nice and the class itself is pretty easy!
I had a rough semester due to my home life and I explained what was going on and she was so understanding. I still put in the work and scheduled online meetings when I could to go over the material and it paid off. I will forever be thankful to her for the compassion she showed me when it felt like my world was collapsing.
I took this class as an 100% online course and found that she expects you to go on-campus for in-person proctored exams, which defeats the whole purpose of an online course. If you want to take this class online, don't take her.
Professor Manzano does an excellent job laying out course work and requirements from the beginning. Be prepared to put in work. I emailed several times and she responded promptly. She gives weekly updates and reminders which I appreciated. Grades are updated quick. She made an online class manageable and enjoyable. I would take her again
The best professor in the town. Maths is all about efforts. If you think she is tough, you are just a lazy snail.
Several times throughout this course I had brain blast moments because of the way she connected everything together. She grades easy and is easy to speak with while keeping the subject succinct. Doesn't curve though which is annoying but fine considering how well she taught the class. Be ready for a lot of homework and viva exams but they were easy
The lectures were a bit short for this course but she got the important bits across and for an 8 week course it makes sense to condense the material especially since she'd give the remaining hours of class to do homework. Very forgiving grader I would take several more crunched courses if she taught them.
Professor Manzano was excellent. The course was a Maymester online and of course fast paced, you have to prepare yourself for that. I dedicated time to the course and when I struggled, she was there to guide me. This was my second time taking the course and I felt that I learned so much more with her. She is very friendly and responds quickly.
Professor Manzano was an amazing professor. This is the first time I have ever taken a math class and enjoyed it. She is very helpful and is willing to work with you if you have any questions. The material is hard and so are the tests, but her lectures are very informational and she explains topics very well. Would take her class again 100%.
I dropped the class because the class so unorganized and Manzano is a horrible professor. The most inconsiderate professor I have encountered. I needed this class to finish my degree, but I rather drop it and it it with someone else in the Fall than be in this class with such a heartless person.
The rudest professor I have ever had. I have never cried so much.
Just a disrespectful woman. Her communication is awful and she does not listen. Every positive review has to be AI generated. She does everything except extend assignments and when it's past the due date she'll tell you to straight up drop the class and give no solution. Everything is done on Pearson so you can't learn.
It was a tough course but great professor
Professor Manzano is a great teacher - she explains concepts clearly and is always available to help. The class is challenging but rewarding, and she makes the material engaging. Using Unstuck study as a study tool really helped me prepare for exams.
I was a student for Ms. Manzano's Statistics class at Dallas College. She did not release grades until the end of the semester and nothing could be changed. For the whole semester I did not get an answer from the professor after I sent multiple emails. Because of this, I didn't know what I did wrong and what I needed to work on.
Just Run! If you want to take online class, dont take it. The whole concept of online class is messed-up here. The professor expects us to go to library to give exam and there is 2 viva exams too for 8 weeks class. Tough grader.
This is not a real online class. You must take a viva exam on Microsoft Teams and go to a testing center in person for the final, and the professor was not helpful or understanding. I failed the final, which caused me to fail the course. If you need a truly flexible online class, avoid this one completely.
She is a great professor, I did the 5 week course and it was really easy. You really just need to study for the final where you are allowed a notecard. All the other tests are open book and its is a pass fail system. She is extremely caring and easy to reach. I definitely recommend her and will take her again!
SO, if you want to take a math class with her ONLINE, don't. Her finals are IN PERSON and if you dont pass it you'll fail regardless of what you did throughout the summer or semester. I chose to take a class online to be able to stay home and help my family and because of her weird class structure nothing every made sense. DONT TAKE MANZANO
