Nice but jumps all over the place. Lectures are confusing. Half the class had dropped by the end of the semester!

This class was very informative and any time I needed help, even outside of her class in other semesters, she was willing to help me out!!
She's off the wall, teaches off her subject during class very confusing. You can't hear her or see what she writes very well, she is also unwilling to speak up and or write more clearly on the board.

She is a poor teacher. when you have a problem she is less than willing to help. Can’t hear what she is saying, no matter where I sit in class. She blocks the marker board, can’t see the problems she wants us to work. The text book and online guide have been more useful than her lectures. She often lectures off topic.
class was very easy. She went over evey type of problem and section thouroghly and was very patitent. sometimes she cracks jokes that arn't funny but are funny to her, which in turn makes it funny. i recommend taking if you need to refresh or haven't taken a math class in years.
She is thorough! If you don't understand, she will come up with a way to help! If you are afraid of Math, take her.
goood teacher
She is such a great teacher and i recommend her to everyone! i took the class during summer so i thought it would be alot harder but it was so easy and i dont even like math!
Do not take this teacher! She is horrible. Instructions for homework are very unclear, and if you need help you might as well just go to a tutor and not try to get it from her.
Really good teacher. You had to do a bit of work but it made the tests so much easier to understand and you ended up getting better grades on all of your work. i would take her class again or any other class offered at a higher level
She is a great teacher! I would recommend her to everyone. Dr. Osborne is very knowledgeable and knows what she's doing. Making the math very clear and easy to understand. She is very helpful and explains thing thoroughly. She is more than willing to help her students out. Loves to see her students get ahead.
Great teacher. Good amount of homework. Can be a bit harsh at times. But be neat, complete all assignments and mention how much better skiing is then snowboarding and you'll walk out with an A.
Not a good teacher
horrible teacher!! do not take her class... she makes u do soooo much work...
SHE IS A GOOD TEACHER SOMETIMES SHE KNOWS WHAT SHE IS TEACHING, THE ONLY THING I DIDNT LIKE ABOUT HER WAS THAT SHE THOUGHT SHE WAS BETTER THAN EVERYONE ELSE AND SHE THOUGHT THAT WHAT SHE SAID WAS ALWAYS RIGHT AND EXPECTED FOR US TO AGREE WITH HER OPINIONS...
I would not recommend people to pick this teacher if they struggle with math. She is strict and wants everything done her way or its wrong. She counts all tardies and abscneces. If you fail a test, she tells you you need to drop the course.
Good Teacher trys to help you understand without looseing too much class time. But if you really don't understand go ask a tutor lol thats what they are here for duh ppl...
The worst teacher in the world. If your a young attrative girl she will totally pick on you....
awful teacher, hard, unenjoyable
Worst teacher ever!!! I would NOT recommend this teacher to no one. She is so mean and makes you feel like your stupid for not knowing the problems!
if you aren't very good at math i wouldn't take her. she likes to do math her way or it's wrong. but she gives study guides and she tells you how she will grade your test. which is helpful. if you to all your homework and show up to class its not so bad but if you let all your homework pile up its extremely difficult. she's pretty strict.
She is a horrible teacher. I would not advise anybody to take her class. She makes u buy a new book and get an online access code and the class is not even hybrid. She gives you WAY TOO MUCH WORK! If you don't follow her structure then everything is wrong. Its her way or no way. She thinks she knows everything and she has favorites
She is a very tough teacher. Requires a lot of work, strict on attendance, and has you grade your own work with a different color(if you don't use different color you automatically only get half credit)She also made it very clear that any questions you had you can take to the LRC. Not her. Recommend taking a different teacher!
She is a very picky teacher, but it helps out by the time the test comes around. It is a difficult class, and she assigns a significant amount of homework at times. However, our class average was about an 88% and the math department was constantly evaluating her teaching style, so they could use it.
She is a tough teacher, but she teaches extremely well. You will never leave the class without understanding the math. She uses a combo of the text book and a mathXL(a computer program),so the books and code together make it a bit expensive, but once you start using it it makes the entire semester much easier! I definitely recommend taking her class!
Best math class I've ever taken! This year we used computers. Class is cutting edge. Math, piece of cake cuz of her. Speaks & writes clearly. Shows step by step. Her notes are the best. There are practice tests so you'll do well for tests. She's strict so be neat with hw. Her class has an A average. I love this class. I def recommend her.
This teacher is very clear and explains the material very well. Her tests are easy and designed so that everyone can get an A. The only problem I had with this class was keeping up on the huge amount of homework we had to do. 2 hours of homework 3 days a week was the average and I am glad all that is over.
I'm really glad I had her as my teacher this semester. She's strict, but very thorough in teaching the material that needs to be covered.
Not a good teacher. The home work is done by computer program which is hard in the math world. It is rare that she helps out one on one and if you have questions you better just sit next to someone who is a math major. Some classes she will put questions on the board and expect answers without actually teaching how to do it. Do not take her classes
She makes a lot of little mistakes. She skips steps when working through problems. I feel that she is condescending. She will make you feel stupid when you ask a question by replying, you don't know how to do that, most people do. She has strange social skills. She talks down to people who could be the same age as herself like they are 18.
Gives alot of homework but teaches well. You always get study-guides for tests, so you know the test material before you take it. Its hard but if you do all the work you will do well and walk away knowing more than you would in an easier math class.
This teacher is a good math teacher to take. She is consistent and always welcomes questions. She gives points for homework and notebooks not just tests. If someone wants to pass math this would be the teacher to take. She actually cares and shows interests.
Very Strict teacher. It is her way of teaching that is more difficult than math. Do not mess with her rules, she will slam you down! She gives tons of HW online and on Textbook. She also makes you buy extra stuff that you do not need. I went for tutoring everyday and got help from others and I still got a bad grade in her class.
She goes over everything very well. I took this same math class once before and failed because the teacher didn't clarify things. As long as you show up and pay attention, you should pass her class.
yes she can be very mean and strict but she is a great teacher. The class i took was math Xl and it is so helpful! i would recommend this class.
Cons:Gives tons of work. The textbook & required materials are very expensive. Half of the HW is done on the computer w/an expensive program. She thinks too highly of herself, acts like she is Gods gift to earth, seems a little fake. Pros:Good at teaching explained everything well. Gives study guides. I usually fail math but got an B in this class.
Professor Osborne is one of the sweetest professors I have ever had. She truly cares about her students and wants them to succeed. She is very good at explaining and stopping for questions. The only reason people complain about her is because they can not handle a sweet and caring professor. Take her class and you will never struggle in math again!
Took her class Spring 14. Very good math teacher. Explains material well. Stops to answer all questions. Cares about her students. Never once late. TONS of homework but it helps to cements the concepts. Picky/strict/organized. Enjoyed her class. Wish she taught summer 14 semester. Would highly recommend.
She designs the class for you to pass. She only teaches what you need to know, lets you out of class early to go to the LRC, and allows a lot of study time for tests, including great study guides, (we studied for final the last two weeks ). advice: BE PREPARED TO: NEVER BE LATE, BE WELL ORGANIZED, LOTS OF HOMEWORK, NO CELL PHONES- or dont take it
If u struggle n math, or haven't taken it n yrs, this prof is for u! She is amazing at breaking problems down & showing all of the steps. She gives great reviews for her tests, & is available before class to answer any questions. If u r looking for a lazyeasy A, then not for u; she makes u earn it. If u put n the effort u will get the rewards!
A teacher that actually knows what she's doing. Showing up to class on time is essential. Pretty easy lectures. If you have any questions she'll explain them to you. Let's you start your homework in class. It's a must to have your book because you will use it every class. I would definitely take her again.
She has a bright persona and gives clear understandable lectures. Homework is a must in her class, and so is relying on the textbook and online source of homework. She offers a unique and exciting way of understanding math in a language that is easy to understand. She grades precise and doesn't miss a single error on a test. I Highly recommend her.
dr. osborne takes pride in her work, and repeatedly tells the class. she does give a lot of homework from both the txt book and math xl.; however they are very helpful. she provides a study guide which is almost exact to the text. test are only 5 questions, very easy. but tough grader, marks down for everything, so make sure to re-check.
One of my favorite math teachers. Shes sweet, funny, and makes it easy to learn
She was an awesome professor and I would definitely take her again!! She gives out study guides (that are mandatory to do) but are extremely helpful. I hated math, but she made this class easy to understand and I was never scared to ask for help. It seemed like a lot of homework, but I took this class over the summer and did fine!
I really struggle with math but in her class I always seemed to understand the criteria. She is a very tough grader when it comes to test and there is a lot of homework. Gives out reviews before tests which are very helpful and will go over any questions anyone may have before tests. Will definitely need textbook and have to work for your grade.
She's Ok in my opinion,I've had other tougher instructors. She's different on how she instructs, most of her materials is from the online portion of the class. Stay on top of your home work, and she gives reviews on exams, which greatly helps. If ure proficient with the reviews, u'll pass the exam, guaranteed.
Really good teacher in some aspects. Tries to help everyone. But does have an annoying personality, where she talks about herself a lot. If u mind ur own business and learn with friends, u will be ok! Hw is essential and attendance as well. Would take her class again bc I am used to her personality and teaching methods.
Gives a good amount of homework. The homework helps you understand the work. She explains the lessons in detail makes it easy to understand. Reviews heavily before every test to ensure you pass.
Absolutely my favorite professor. I've had trouble in math for years but she made it easy for me to understand. There is homework everyday but they are usually easy problems. She was sweet and very kind. We had food parties on special days like cinco de mayo. I was even late to the final and she told me she would wait to me. I absolutely recommend
Not a hard class if you do the homework and pay attention. It is a lot of homework but I did it all and it helped me grasp the material. Passed with a 99%. Her office hours are helpful. She will work with you on whatever you want and is very patient. She does care if you care
If math comes easy to you, then this is the class for you! If you struggle in math heads up here is a lot of homework given out and you will be learning new things quickly. Being on time is mandatory, if late by 1 minute you will be marked up. Her comments in class might make you roll your eyes. She gives you practice tests which I think helped.
I must say, the reviews she gave out before each test were very handy. That being said, this class was... different. You're required to keep all work in a "math notebook," and on the first day of class, she told us how this notebook would be invaluable to us because we could take it to job interviews and it would "get us the job."
Dr. Osborne gave a lot of homework but doing all the homework made the tests a breeze. She tells interesting and hilarious stories during class and that made her class entertaining and more interactive. She also does not like phones out in class. This was a really fun math class
Professor Osborne was a great professor, she taught okay and tried to explain to the best of her ability, but there was a lot of hw and if you slacked off on that u will definitely not pass. Every hw piece helped you in the tests and when I went tutoring with her she made me feel really dumb. If you will take her class please do your hw 100%
If your good at math than this does not really apply to you. If you stuggle with math then i highly recommend do not take her class. she makes you feel dumb, doesnt really teach all that well, skips step when attempting to explain, does not go over concepts for you to understand. There is a so much homework that doesnt reall help you understand.
She is very shrewd but also very caring. She is strict on attendance, and homework is checked daily. But you should be on top of both of those things if you want an A. She also responded to student feedback in the middle of the semester and lightened the homework load.
I would not recommend her, she is good as a professor but she was off topic with stories a lot and would make people ask to use the bathroom when this is college. And she would get agitated sometimes when people would ask a lot of questions or have moments concern the material.
Dr. Osborne is an amazing Prof. She cares about her students and will go the extra mile if you need help (all you need to do is ask). Yes, she is strict in her hw, but that is just on organization of your hw. There are two notebook checks by other students, four tests, and a final. Plus material and plenty of time to get an A. PLUS extra credit!
Professor Osborne is the best prof I've had at msjc and I would HIGHLY recommend her. I won't lie, her class is not a cakewalk but she cares about her students like they're her own children. she will do anything she can to help you succeed. I struggled a LOT in this class and with hard work ended with an a. you gotta go to class though! she's great
I'm mediocre at math so it is not my thing. It is not hard if you are great at it. If you are okay at math then I suggest finding a tutor at times. She also grades tests as 80% of your grade so that is where you will need a tutor since not all examples are explained but for the most part, they are.
Professor Osborne is by far the best professor I've had at msjc. I won't lie, her class is not easy, and certainly not for those who don't want to work hard, but she's an amazing human being that truly cares about her students as if they were her own children. I struggled so much at the beginning but ended with an a due to her support. Take her !!!
If you struggle with math DON'T TAKE HER! Her examples are terrible and barely explained. She never seems willing to help you understand just refers you to tutors. Even if you went to one and didn't get much out of the session, she still wont help. Plus the way she limits the amount of times you can try an answer for homework is annoying. No help!
Online classes arent the professors strength, she has a hard time operating electronic devices with that being said, the lectures are decent but usually doesnt have enough time, and recommends to pay for a tutor. Turning in a test you must turn in your work through pdf format, which she doesnt always care to grade, she is not on the same page.
Her class was tough for me, but she was there to explain anything. There was a lot of homework, but you need a lot of practice to be good at math, so the homework was appreciated. She was a little tough, but a lot fair!
I am not going to lie too everyone. In this class, if you have a question, expect to look stupid in class cause in some cases your not going to get help. You get referred by tutors who can not even help you out as much. I am just saying to watch yourself
If you are thinking about taking Math 105, do NOT select this Professor. This professor moves extremely fast with zero guidance. Lastly, there is absolutely no insight on how to solve the actual problems that will be on the test. I would strongly suggest you stay away from this professor if you want to succeed in math.
This Professor places blame on her students for any struggles they may be facing in the course. She is not very helpful when you have questions and does not make asking them easy as she is not very approachable. If you take this course be prepared to be referred to library tutors who are expected to basically teach all of the material.
Not a lot of HW, classes were difficult. Dropped the class within the second week because the lectures were difficult. She said she wouldn't go over things because you should already know it, if you were confused, she said go to the tutoring center and if they don't know how to help you "good Luck". Showed question and answer but not how to solve.
Dr. Osborne was a decent professor to have. Notes were like a copy of our homework that she's going to assign (about 4 assignments), but it's not a lot of questions. When taking tests, you have to solve the problem in a specific way, or you won't get credit for it. Please do your hw and study for the exams! Besties, btw you can't use calculators.
Great class. Extremely structured and consistent. Material is not hard. She teaches you exactly what is on the test and does not pull anything stupid.
Dropped out of this class the second week of classes starting. She never explained how to do the math she just showed the question and all of her work with the answer, she expects you to just copy and paste all her work into your notes and doesn't explain how she did her work unless you ask. I don't recommend her class unless you are good at math.
I would not recommend if you're looking for a patient and caring professor to really help you understand the math. The work itself was what could be expected from an algebra class, not too difficult if you put in the work. However, she doesn't breakdown/explain concepts well nor give good notes, boring lectures also. VERY strict
Strict on attendance Must do test problems manually or you fail Strict on having nice notes Take her class IF you understand her teaching style
Dr. Osborne is one of the kindest professors I've ever had. She genuinely cares for her students and provides help with any math problems during/before class. The tests are worth 80% of your grade. However, she does everything she can to make sure you're prepared for the tests. Studying and asking for help are essential for passing this class.
Dr. Osborne is an amazing professor! There was a total of 3 test and the final exam, but all the tests and the exam questions were just like the homework. Dr. Osborne also gives us practice tests and there exactly like the tests. She does give out a lot of homework but if you need more time, you can always ask her to give you an extension.
Dr. Osborne cares about her students and wants them to succeed. She does give out a lot of homework, for each section of notes taken in class, but some of the questions will be just like the tests. She also gives out practice tests, even for the final exam. If you do miss a lecture she does have videos on canvas, but Dr. Osborne is amazing.
When I took her course a couple of semesters ago, she was very nice and down to Earth. One thing though is that she wasn't necessarily tech-savvy which intertwined with the experience and it overall made things difficult especially when it comes to quote-unquote "not receiving the work" or that the work was "late" when in actuality it was on time.
Worst teacher I've ever had.
Dr. Osborne is a challenging professor. There is a total of 3 tests and a final exam, but all the tests and the exam questions are the same as the practice test but with different numbers. Attendance is mandatory 4 unexcused absences and you are dropped. Homework is heavy but manageable. Extra Credit is given for a good notebook after every test.
