This instructor is very helpful. I personally learned alot from her teaching style. Her attitude is great. If you want to get through algebra or at least the first half. I reccommend this instructor very highly

This teacher is excellant. her instruction is ver clear and she goes at a pace where if you dont understand a lesson she will make sure you do. She doesnt believe in quizzes and her exams are as low key as you will get them. I truely recomend this teacher.

Mrs. Petersen is one of the best teachers I've encountered at MJC, being one who DOESN'T excel in math, I can attest to the awesome job she does.She knows her stuff and wants her students to do well. I would take her again in a heartbeat.

Petersen is a great teacher! I use to hate math, its my favorite subject now! Keep your concentration or you will get lost. She teaches fast. But she gives you extra credit, cards for each test, and review sheets! Really cool! Do your homework and you will get a good grade! I would highly recommend Petersen!

Very good teacher, she explained problems like if it was kindergarten math...If you show up to class everyday and do all homework assignments you will pass with an A. If you need math 70 or even 90 I would recommend Petersen.

This teacher is very helpful! She was willing to come before or after class to help students with problems. Students use a index card and calculator on exams. Homework is 40% tests are 60% of the grade. She doesn't tolerate b/s, if your there to learn you'll have no problem. Highly recommend, I suck at math and pulled an A in her class.

wonderful teacher!! she explains her examples so good it's super easy to understand. she lets you use 3 by 5 cards on tests and even gives review sheets. she grades fairly. you come to class and do your homework you will pass with an A.

Great teacher all u have to do is...do all your hw and get atleast a 60-70 on ur test and ull pass with a C. she also gives u 8 absent days and lets u drop 3 hw's and 1 test. EezZY

She moves at a fast pace but only because she has to. you will do fine as long as you show up to class every day ( dont miss a day!) and pay attention. 3x5 cards very helpful! keep them after the test, you can use all of them for the final thats what helped me pass. over all a good teacher

Mrs. Petersen does everything possible to let you pass her class. You can use a note card and calculator for tests and she gives extra credit opportunities. Do your homework and go to class and you should pass the first time around.

she has a high passing rate in her classes. She is very clear on exams and gives a review before the test and allows a 2x5 card on exams, drops the 4 lowest hwks, and gives 4 excused absences. very helpful and clear during lectures. Best teacher and very fair.

Yes, she sometimes isn't clear on the instructions, but if you have a hard time, just follow the book while she's lecturing, and everything will be just fine. She's really kind and motivated to help her students, but some annoying students were rude and made fun of her because she is so nice. Over all, great teacher and easy class.

Took Petersen in Fall of 2007. She is a good teacher, there is homework every day based on the lectures. If I remember correctly there are 4 tests.. Pay attention, take notes, do homework and you will do good.

She is a great teacher she tries to tie math to the real world which makes sense and tells you why you are learning the material. There is nothing weird about the way she teaches! Everyone I know that has taken her has had an A or a B. She lets you use notes for the test and as long as you do your homework you should pass with a decent grade.

fairly easily class. she talk way too fast & if you dont come to class everyday you're gonna miss out. homework is everyday & it usually takes me 2 hours to finish.i suggest that if you're not good in math go to the math drop in center after class. it's much easier.that's how i got through the class with a "B." study and do your hw & you'll be fine

This teacher is awsome. She will drop off one out of the five exams that is the worst score. If the class is doing not so well she will add an extra point to an exam for every homework assignment that you have turned in. When she grades she grades the same 10 problems for every one we just dont know wich ones those will be so do thema all.

She seems mean, but is a good teacher. Do the homework and try not to miss tests until the last chapters because those are the hardest. Show up and take notes. She has a good teaching style!

Excellent! EASY! and gives PARTIAL CREDIT! Need I say more. Homework is all listed on a sheet of paper so its not confusing at all. She drops four bad homeworks and one bad exam from your grade. Dont take this class if you talk. you will only interupt the people who really need it. SO SHUT UP IN THE BACK!!!

Petersen was a great instructor. He lectures were a little fast, but as long as you do the homework (which is graded) you will be fine. All test questions come from her notes and some from the homework. She let's you use cheat sheets on the exams and the final. I am so horrible at math, but she made this class very doable. I totally recommend her!!

everything people say about her is true. 3x5 for exams, with no limits on what you put on it, homework is mandatory since it's 25%/grade. exams 50%/grade and final 25%/grade. lets you copy her lectures if you miss class. and offers bonus pts+Extra credit often. will not pass you even if you're 10pts away. very strict when it comes to grading

This teacher was amazing...Make sure to do all homeworks, lets you use a 3x5 index card. Has her own packest of notes for lectures only use text book for HW. lets you drop 4 bad HW and 1 bad test take this teacher you wont regret it.

Very helpful, do all the homework and study for tests, recieved a 99.6% overall in her class and very much prepared me for 70 and 90. Doesn't like disruptive students and appreciates each student willing to learn. TAKE HER!

Amazing Professor! I have learned more in her class than in any other! Her teaching is awesome! Just do your HW, and you will get a good grade. Definitely worth taking her for Algebra! Believe me, it's definitely one of the best classes I've ever taken.

Take Her, I'm so glad and thankful I did. It's been over 35 yrs since I took a Math Class and she made it Understandable and prepared me for the next set of courses. She takes concepts that are difficult and gives real examples of them and breaks it down so you understand. She speaks clearly and is very funny. The homework is from the book and the tests are short and directly related to lecture and homework. Amazing teacher!

1 word description: quirky. Didn't appreciate how wonderful she is until I took stats 134 w/ a terrible teacher the following semester. Handout of hw assignments for whole semester on day 1. Extra credit opps. Curves exams if attendance & class participation are good. Happy to see you @ office hrs. Graphing calc & 1 notecard for exams.

She goes over the material at a comfortable pace, and her lectures are always easy to understand. But if you do ever have a question or want to go over a certain topic, she is always available and wiling to help. She assigns a lot of homework and there is a quiz every week, but if you stay on top of your work then you'll do fine in her class.

Second year taking her class and she has made me continue to love math! She wants her students to pass and will always be there to help. Her lessons are easy to understand, and her printed out notes that you use to go along with those lessons help a great deal. I highly recommend taking her! Wish she taught my math next year. :(

Amazing teacher. I took math 121 with her, and I passed the class with an A. I loved the way she though the class, her teaching was very clear, and the class was pretty easy.

I haven't finished class yet but I just had to say that professor Peterson is amazing. Wow she should replace a fulltime faculty she is that good. She makes the material relatable and easy. I highly recommend her if you have weak math skills. Doesn't skip steps and her coursepack is a godsend!!

I hate math and got an A in the class. Took the summer course and it goes by fast, so don't miss any days! Her course pack is extremely helpful and so is she. She uses lots of real life examples to help explain different concepts. I highly recommend taking her class!

Professor Petersen is an Awesome teacher. She takes the time to answer your questions and makes sure you understand. Reviews every time before a test. Mrs. Petersen was one of my favorite math teachers of all time. She does move kind of fast when teaching but has a outline of the notes so it is easy to follow along. If she offers one, definitely get that! She always stops and asks if there is any questions and makes sure the whole class is on the same page! Highly recommended in my book!

She's AMAZING! i wish i can take her for math 30 . I had her accelerated class 9-19. she gives decent amount of homework and is due 2x a week. her personality is so cute shes super funny and will MAKE SURE everyone in the class is understanding the concept. we also do cute little potlucks a day before the exams.

I also took her for math 9. Professor Petersen teaches clearly. In the beginning of the class she will give out a note pack to each students. She teaches step by step and if ask her to repeat it because at first you did not understood. She will repeat again. The homework you turn it in to Prof. Petersen by paper and not online

I really enjoyed Calculus with Petersen. She assigns homework and collects it, which is super helpful and keeps us on track. I would say that her lectures can be confusing, but her office hours are extremely beneficial if you need extra help. Her tests consist of the normal problems, not the super hard ones.

Professor Petersen was absolutely amazing. I took her Math 171 class and am currently taking Math 172. She teaches the material very well and is very easy to communicate with. People expect Calculus to be a cakewalk and get upset that she goes too fast. Cmon. Homework is very do-able and the tests and quizzes are easy, she gives you a review sheet.

I flunked pre-algebra in high school, which is one reason it took me 18 years to go back to school. But Professor Petersen made it so easy to learn! I took her accelerated pre-algebra class, and not only did I pass, I passed with an A! She is a little quirky but thats what I loved about her! Would definitely take her again!

Best math professor I have had yet. Her lectures are great and include real world applications. She has a super useful website full of resources. She is easy to get ahold of and extremely understanding. Her exams are straight forward and like the HW and lectures. She gives an appropriate amount of HW and it is hand written. She is great!

This course is hard, but I'd take it with Petersen over Alcantra any day. She's a little scatter-brained and engineering-focused for a math professor, but she really tries to help you understand the material. Be present and vocal. Do your homework and study it! She grades leniently and makes herself available outside of class. Attend discussions.

I took her for trig and she was a very good instructor. She was a very nice and lenient teacher. She also gave a lot of extra credit and allowed us to make up some quizzes.

She's very passionate, quick to reply to emails & helpful. The workloads heavy. She's gracious with her gradings & offers extra credits. She works hard to make sure the class doesn't fail, as a student you need to participate, show up for class & do your assignments. I am terrible at math so If I can do it, so can you :)

She is awesome! I failed Intermediate Algebra when it was a requirement and took Stats with Professor Petersen. She really wants her students to pass. You need to put all your effort into this class if math is not your thing. Take this class with easier classes. The previous rating is right about her class.

She gives you a lecture packet. Put in your binder. write everything she does. She will work through each problem in the lecture packets. She will also upload the notes to canvas, but it might take her several days to do so. Don't miss class often. Even though she uses zoom, you can't see board on zoom. She records the lectures. See other ratings.

She is very engaging with the class, in person and over email, she's very understanding, and is very efficient in her time management. 10/10

This subject is very hard so you will struggle, but if you're going to take it, take it with her because no other professor is easier or caring like she is. She tends to mess up a lot, but catches it. She has a zoom incase you are not able to show up in person and lots of extra credit opportunities. ALSO interact with your classmates it will help!

I took her class and she was great. She made sure to provide plenty of examples and provides a concise way on how to solve problems. She makes math enjoyable and is one of the best math professors I have had.

I really like her. She is fair, but understanding of your situation. She has rules inbedded into her grading system to be able to help you incase you miss a quiz or something. She is very lenient with tests. Would 100% take her class again!

She is a great professor, sometimes gets off topic and can make it a little confusing but overall great! Offers some extra credit if you do review on the board or turn in a project early. Only two exams, one project, and the final. Quiz almost weekly and one homework assignment per lesson you learn. She is helpful and gives you any points possible.

Professor Petersen makes math enjoyable with her concise explanations and plenty of examples. She's helpful and understanding, offering extra credit and opportunities to succeed. I found Unstuckstudy great for study prep too.

I am NOT a strong math student but Professor Peterson genuinely cares about her students. She gives multiple opportunities with extra credit AND lets you make up portions of exams if you did really poorly. As long as you communicate with her and try you will not fail this class. She's super understanding and genuinely does not want you to fail.
