Mrs. Nabors is awesome! She always prints out the powerpoint slides for you and sometimes she'll give a worksheet but you go over it together in class and always volunteer to work them, you get extra credit! The tests are okay, but you have to study, she curves them. She will take attendance every couple of weeks for bonus points on the final.
Ms. Nabors is an alright professor. She gives you extra credit but you better be ready to sit up front and be her favorite in order to get called on. She is willing to help and explain and trys her best to make tests to your advantage but it is still difficult and you really need to pay attention & read the book!Online homework-easy!
Mrs. Nabors is a good teacher. Her class is actually fun to go to and she jokes around with her students. She is very personable and almost feels like a high school class all over again. Take her for Econ or Stats.
I would not recommend Ms. Nabors! I am not a business major so Econ doesn't come easily to me and she confused me even more! Online homework is super easy, but her tests are difficult! The majority of the class is struggling to pass
Good teacher, not a class to take if you are someone who never goes to class but if you actually go to class and study for tests you will be fine. She is defiantly more interesting to learn from then other teachers I have had in the past. I have her next semester for Stats.
Ms. Nabors is a great teacher! The online homework is extremely easy, her tests are a piece of cake if you study the Power Points and worksheets, and she is very nice. She gives extra credit sometimes for coming to class, and she may give out an extra credit quiz online as well. If you need ECON 2010, I would highly recommend her.
Her test are difficult and the homework on aplia is very hard to understand at times. However she is very nice and willing to help you with any questions you may have and her class is very laid back and you get out early most of the time
Professor Nabors is a very good teacher. She expects you to take what she teaches you seriously, but if you don't understand, all you have to do is go ask. Her tests were reasonably difficult, but that is because she isn't there to just push people through, she is there to teach them how to think. If you want to make a good grade in class, you can!
Ms. Nabors is an ok teacher. She's really nice and very approachable, but she doesn't really teach. Her tests are very difficult and there are not any homework grades to help bring your grade up.
Loved this class! She gives out points just for being there and also gives you homework (not required) the class before the test to turn in for extra credit. She is willing to stay and explain anything you don't understand and super easy to understand. Usually lets you out early.
Ms. Nabors is not a very good teacher. I didn't understand the material and she goes through each chapter way too fast. Her tests are super difficult and she doesn't prepare you for them at all. Tests grade are pretty much the only thing that your final grade consists of. I don't recommend her to anyone.
I would NOT recommend taking her to anyone. She is very hard to understand and moves through the material way too fast. This is my second semester with her and feel the same way I did before. At the end you have an optional final. She curves grades, but if you have a 79.4 she will NOT give you a B in the class.
I would take Ms. Nabors again for MicroEconomics. She tries to explain things in different ways so you can understand. Her tests can be a little tricky; however, she does give extra credit. You do worksheets in class which help out a lot. She usually lets the class out early as well.
Macro Econ: She is pretty easy. She reads off powerpoint slides the entire time. No homework. Extra credit on every test. The book is only needed if you want to follow along wit the powerpoint slides. They are exactly the same. 30 minutes studying before each test = easy A. Final exam is optional to replace your lowest test grade.
The class is pretty simple to understand on your own, I barely pay attention in class. She goes pretty quickly in the lectures but that just means you get out early most of the time. Online homework is pretty easy and tests are fair.
She's a good teacher. She just goes over a powerpoint and answers questions. Read the book and do the homework and you will get an A. Lots of extra credit and she is very nice.
Please dont listen to other reviews. This class has been one of the hardest Ive ever had. Test does not match slides. Online homework sucks
GREAT person... hard class. Tests are hard and she does not curve on them. She has a lot of students so the grade you get is the grade you get. no exceptions. She does give extra credit for coming to class and an assignment for extra credit as well. Not impossible to get a good grade in just be ready to study hard.
The class is not just about definitions, which is why a lot of people find it difficult. You have to apply it to situations. The online homework helped me understand better. She is more than willing to help you if you're struggling. She's very nice and will take the time to help you.
Ms. Nabors was an extremely nice professor, but doesn't prepare you at all for her test. In my three years of college, I made my fist D.
This is a definition only class which is only made difficult by the lack of teaching that is occurring. Nabors is nice but she does not communicate clearly and the book for the class doesn't help on the test but is used for the online homework which doesn't help for the tests.
TERRIBLE teacher! She doesn't prepare you for tests, and doesn't seem to even enjoy teaching (cancels class often). If you can take someone else do it!
I have had Prof. Nabors for two classes and have had to work hard both times, but I also learned a great deal. She goes over each topic thoroughly, asks if the class has questions, then moves on. If you are too lazy to ask, she cannot teach you what you won''t try to learn, but if you ask for help she is more than willing to give it. GREAT TEACHER,
Be prepared to teach yourself. Nabors just reads off power points and doesn't really teach. When you ask her a question, she half the time won't know what the answer is. Her tests are pretty hard. I would not recommend taking her.
Recommend for econ 2010
you do not have to going to class. this class easy I got A
She's nice, doesn't know what she's doing. Be prepared to teach yourself the topics and prepare yourself for the tests.
Bad teacher! I'm not used to making low grades so when i got her tests back i nearly hard a heart attack! She cancels class, and lets out class 20 minutes early most days but she goes too fast!
Worst teacher I have taken at Tech. I'm an A student and put forth just as much effort as I do in all of my classes and still made a D. She just reads off of power points and lets class out super early. Also there is online homework you have to do which nothing on it is even close to how the test presents questions. Do not take.
After 5 semesters in college Nabors is by far the worst professor I've ever come across. She doesnt care about her students succeeding. Class averages on first exam was a D. She only reads the PPT made by the book during class. Homework is difficult to understand because you have to try and teach it to yourself first. Better off taking someone else
By far the hardest teacher I've had at Tech. She skips over the little steps assuming you already know how to do it even though it's brand new content. AVOID IF POSSIBLE.
She lectures, the hw is long but not that bad. But then you get to the test. Her test are NOTHING like the study guide. Just study everything in the chapter. Even if she never talks about it and it's not on the study guide, that's probably what the test will be over. DO NOT TAKE.
She was a good teacher. She doesn't teach the material very good, but if you do and understand the homework you will do fine. She has 3 test, and an optional final that will not harm you and replace your lowest test grade, and she gives Extra credit for attendance. The average on all your homework grade together equal out as a test grade too.
Yolunda Nabors is a great teacher who is very kind and really pushes the importance of the subject in daily life (not that we use Econ everyday just that world around). There is online homework and the tests aren't super easy or difficult. It was fun and I really enjoyed the class. If you want to learn economics, I would very much recommend Nabors.
She is a very rude teacher and i would not recommend her for econ at all. she is not helpful one bit. If you ask for help she will not help you. WORST PROFESSOR EVER
By far the worst professor I've had at Tech. She reads straight from the powerpoint and even those aren't very clear. The class avg. was a D on the first test and she was "happy with that". After 3 years here, I have a 3.8 GPA and haven't made a grade lower than a C and I'm walking out of her class with a D. Take someone else if you can.
She's lecture is very interesting and fun. However, she will try to trick you on the test, So you have to careful. Overall, I really like this teacher. If you are major in Business, I would recommend to take her
I'm a sophomore taking MicroEcon and this class is easy. HUGE bonus points for just showing up to class. Very sweet woman and easy material. I could care less, however, to hear her talk about food every day. HW is through aplia online and is semi long but easy. Easiest class of the semester.
Mrs. Nabors is a very sweet professor, but the class is pretty tough. The tests are way harder than the study guides and there is quite a bit of homework. Does give opportunities for extra credit. There to talk to if you need help or feel lost.
The test aren't like the study guide and are much more difficult. Her lectures aren't that great but you need to attend for the sake of your grade. Take someone else if possible.
Great teacher! Her classes are mainly lectures, but she makes it as enjoyable as she can. Missing class does not count against you but you won't do good if you don't show up. She gives many chances for participation and attendance points that count as bonus points. It is an easy A if you put in effort. I would take her classes again if I could!
Gives extra credit. Lots of homework grades might be your saving grace- but do not forget about them! However, tests are extremely hard and difficulty to study for. I had never made a D in my life, until I had her class.
Attendance is not mandatory, although she sometimes takes attendance for extra credit. Gives a LOT of HW online, expect to miss assignments and get zeros. Tests are straight from the book, I didn't go to class except on exam days and did well on tests. She's a nice lady, but its a hard class, I would take another professor
She gives you materials for note taking, either powerpoints or word documents with the important information blank to fill in during lectures. She is always willing to help you understand anything. Just ask her. She will respond to emails and will make appointments to meet if you are not able to meet during her office hours.
I loved her. She was easy on the eyes and sweet to me.
Understands content, but teaches somewhat too fast. WAY too much homework. Nearly impossible to complete all of it in one sitting because each assignment is entirely too long.
Even though I made a low B in her class, She's still a great teacher. You just have to pay attention and do the homework. It's not bad at all.
Nabors exams are really complicated if you are new to Econ. She does not round your grade up NO MATTER WHAT. I made my first D in college with her and will never forget it. She seems great till you get your exam and question if you even went over the material. Just because she is a good person doesn't make her a good professor.
Can't say it enough: DO YOUR HOMEWORK! Homework was the saving grace for a ton of students in her class. I hear she isn't so great for Macro but I think she's really great for Micro. I don't have anything bad to say about Ms. Nabors, she's really relatable and down-to-earth. Her only con is that when she's in a bad mood she lets everyone know.
Would not recommend her for macro. She certainly isn't passionate about macroeconomics. If she is, she showed it in a terrible way by teaching half of the time and just emailing the rest of the lectures. Tests are silly because she doesn't teach some of the material and the study guides do not line up with test questions.
Completely rUde, am Not going To recommend her
Her class was very difficult, but if you work hard for her, she will work for you. Lots of homework which helps even out your grades. Tests are challenging, but she is willing to help you learn
To me it was an easy A class. She gives homework so you can practice what you learn in class and she gives a very helpful study guide for the exam.
She missed a lot of classes, but most of the work can be completed outside of class. Just make sure you look at the lecture notes and textbook. She's an okay lecturer, but she uses lots of unnecessary examples that are just distracting and wastes a lot of class time doing pointless current events.
This is class, overall, is very well structured. The way the grades are weighted helps you out a lot. Each test is 19% of your grade, but the home work and quizzes are 18%. It gives you the opportunity to still have a good grade if you screw up on a test. My only complaint would be that the tests tend to be harder to understand than the study aids.
Yolunda Nabors is overall a great professor. Her homework takes quite a while, but it is manageable and several weeks' worth of homework can be done at once. She was great all semester long in Micro, but during Macro, she seemed to put a lot less effort into teaching the content at the end of the semester. Attendance is extra credit. Donot buy book
As a senior student who took her Micro Econ class in my final semester. I genuinely believe Yolunda Nabors is one of the best instructors this campus has to offer.
SHE IS AMAZING! I wish I could have her for all my classes. She assigns a lot of hmk but it only helps your grade average in the end. She has such a good sense of humor and truly cares about her students. If you put forth the effort in this class you will excel, but don't think it'll be a breeze either. Pay attention & take notes, you'll do fine.
This woman is a real gem, as a teacher and as a person. I actually enjoyed this class and looked forward to going. One wonderful aspect is if you cant make a class, it won't kill you, yes there is lots of HW, but helps you out in the end. Make the effort to engage with her and show you care about the class, and I promise you will enjoy it!
I had her already for another class and I took this class with her. She is SUCH A GOOD TEACHER. She's funny and kind. She is sooo good at explaining problems. There are quizzes everyday which help her keep track of attendance. She drops the lowest 4 quizzes. Her tests aren't that bad because she teaches everything so well.
When I took her - F18 - she was a graduate student. She gets you as a student. She doesnt truly take attendance, but if you dont plan to read the textbook you need to attend or you wont know anything. Homework is easy. Take the easy grades. She has 3 test and an optional final.
I genuinely believe that Professor Nabors is the best teacher on the campus of Tennessee Tech. She cares about her students and is willing to answer any questions that you may have after class, during office hours, or by email. Take her if given the opportunity!!
Terrible professor, took over sean's class and 5 people dropped the next day, I should have joined them
Her class isn't hard, anyone could get a B, if you give some effort you will get an A but she is a terrible professor. Half the time she does not even know for sure what she is talking about and has to check powerpoint to make sure her simple math is correct. Study guides are easy but nothing like exam. Does not prepare you for intermediate econ.
Never disagree or she will try to embarrass you in front of the class.
She is one of the worst professors I have taken. Her lectures are boring, assignments are not graded fairly, and she makes a GenEd course much harder than it should be. No one enjoys this.
Tests are a major percentage of your grade and she does not review the homework (it is done online). She makes the class a lot harder than it should be, and is not easily approachable outside of class.
I found this course to be harder than her macro, but still relatively easy. Attendance is not mandatory- and people sure do take advantage of this. Maybe people wouldn't have such a hard time with hw if they actually attended the lecture. 3 exams, 18% each. HW 25%. Optional final. She's a great professor, I found her to be approachable.
She is an okay teacher but test are terrible, she does not teach what will be on them.
This class was a joke it was so easy, as long as you pay attention to the lectures and take notes, I would say you could pass this class with an A only studying an hour before the test. You have homework every week but it is extremely easy and takes about 10 min. Take this class for an ez A
Typical entry-level business class. Pay attention, take notes, and do the homework and you'll easily pass. There was a semester-long group project where you had to present monthly. Do the work and present and you'll easily get a 100 on the assignment. The only grades you actually have to work for are exams, but even then, they're pretty easy
I swear this teacher doesn't know what she's talking about when she's trying to teach it and she's soooo unorganized. and her tests are hard hard hard!
Nabors is not understanding at all there was only a one week trial of the book and my scholarships/loans didn't come in for 2 weeks and she wouldn't extend the dates. You can go to class but you will just end up teaching it to yourself. exams and such aren't even slightly close to her study guides. I made a B and would never take this course again.
I don't get how anyone has said this class was easy. I have had mostly A's in college and somehow I'm about to get a C or lower in this class. Her tests are extremely difficult even when I have literally studied for hours every piece of course material, homework, and every textbook page and I still failed every test and the class mostly did too.
Professor Nabors is such a sweet woman. Accounting is hard no matter who you take and her lectures are a little hard to understand, but she tries as much as she can to make you pass. Her study guides are super helpful and she gives the homework answers to you.
Dr. Nabors is difficult but is also an amazing instructor. Her tests are challenging but if you show up to class and work hard, you will be fine. I struggled with "economical-thinking" but learned to understand it more as the class progressed. She is a great speaker and is always very professional and prepared. She knows her stuff.
She does not prepare you for tests.
I have taken her for ECON2020 and she was the complete opposite of the teacher I had for 2010. Even with COVID going on she made attendance a big part of our grade and did not count online attendance as you being in class. This was difficult for those of us who were concerned about COVID and people who assumed attendance wasnt mandatory.
I would advise against taking the online class. The book is great but the exams are from her not from the textbook. Expect to be tested on a quarter of what you actually spend time learning. The homework assignments were great practice for comprehending what the textbook wanted you to know but they had very little to do with the actual exams.
Yolanda Nabors is a nice professor; however, her classes are difficult to study for. She assigns lots of homework and lectures to print out. Her online lectures do not serve justice in class. If you do the homework assignments, you will pass her class with flying colors.
Dr. Yolunda Nabors has been an excellent professor this semester. She had detailed lectures, was engaging during class, and was usually easy to follow. Her quizzes and tests are well written and feel fair. She answered questions in detail and well, and always made herself available to help with homework questions.
Terrible professor, would not recommend anyone taking her class.
WAY too hard for an intro/gen ed course. The midterm (30% of your grade) is nothing like the homeworks or quizzes. The lectures are based strictly from the textbook and sound like she's reading directly from it. But the exams seem to be pulled out of thin air. I'm a senior with a great GPA and had to drop cause I was failing. DO NOT TAKE.
Nabors really knows her stuff. She's engaging, funny, and super knowledgeable. A lot of people claim she's a hard teacher, but she has to cover a lot of material. I recommend going to all the pre-exam question sessions and really engaging in the lecture and Smartbooks. Total cost of the class was like $38 for the online HW modules.
Super strict teacher. She does not take into account different point of views. It is 100% her way or the highway.
Ms. Nabors was so kind even though her class was pretty difficult. I highly suggest taking her online class though. We had about 30ish slides a week with homework and tests due every Saturday. Again, it is not an easy class, but it is possible to make an A.
The homework is tedious and the lectures are hard to follow online, DONT TAKE ONLINE! it is so hard to follow and comprehend the course.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. If you have the option, run away. For more reasons than I can sum up in 350 characters. SHE DOES NOT WANT YOU TO SUCCEED. This is a Gen Ed course, nobody needs this for their major. take it online. take it at vol state. Just DO NOT TAKE HER. Great GPA student here, I more than pass all my classes. SHE WAS ATROCIOUS. DONT
Nabors is a very intelligent professor-she has lots of insight towards economics but her class is very hard and easy to lose track of. Each assignment in this class counts because of the very hard tests so DO THE HOMEWORK. This class takes time and I honestly didn't retain much besides the unfairness of the insulin market. Take online elsewhere.
