I hate math so I was scared to take this class. He didn't have a review on here so i was going in blind. the criteria is super hard (im not very good at math) but he is super helpful and nice. let us take our pop quizzes at home and sometimes went easy on the grading. I would take any math class with him. Do the mymathlab hw! it helps!
Yonas is one of the best Math professors I have ever had. There are 4 exams and each is out of 110 meaning you can still get 100 if you get a couple questions wrong. Yonas will sit with you and work with you whenever you need it. I was afraid to take this class but he is honesty the best. I recommend him to anyone!! TAKEHIM!!!!!!!
He is a great teacher and very informative, but still tough. he weill go out of his way to help you and can be flexible to your schedule!
Professor, Abrahas class is interesting but for anyone taking the applied course I stringly suggest going to S.I. sessions when possible and especially before the major midtermfinal. He also drops a lot if the lower scores for the class. Super nice guy and knows the material "DataMining" Via excel and powerpint...
The class itself is pretty hard but it'll turn out to be easy as long as you attend the open lab sessions and ask for help. He's always willing to help and he's extremely easy going.
I am absolutley terrible at math, and I failed the first exam. I went into his office hours and he added points to my exam just for coming in and showing him that I was trying my best! He is always there to help, and I highly reccommend going to office hours! The class itself is tough, but he is one of the best professor's I've ever had!
As long as you go to most of his lectures and all of the labs, you will pass with an easy A. He has a heavy accent so it might be hard to sometimes understand him but he is willing to help with any problems. The labs are pretty clear with what you have to do and there is always someone to help you out there. Easy A if you pay attention.
I had failed Stats my first time taking it. Having to take it a second time I was feeling discouraged until I started this class. After thinking I could never pass Stats I ended up getting a B in this class because he EXTREMELY helpful and cares about whether or not his students learn. I highly recommend taking this class with him. One of the best.
Thick accent but great professor. Let him know when you need help. His flexible office hours together with tutors in the math lab helped me greatly. He is an easy going professor. As long as you show interest in your work and attend math lab. Lenient with grading criteria. Lots of extra credit. Hard to mess this up. Got B+. Easy class. TAKE HIM
This professor is WONDERFUL. I'm terrible at math. He is the first professor I actually learned from. Easy quizzes and exams if you pay attention in class. You might need to do a little teaching on mathlabs for reinforcement but besides that he's great. Always willing to help and very approachable. I feel like he genuinely wants you to succeed.
Prof Abraha is a great guy. He makes the material understandable and is willing to answer any questions. He utilizes wiley plus to assign hw, quizes, and exams. The test and quizzes come straight form the HW. He stays longer in class to help you understand. The book used is full of mistakes so beware of that. He will give you partial credit.
Prof. Abraha is a great professor. Calculus is a very hard subject, but this instructor makes the content easy and is very fair with the work load. The tests are curved, and he gives partial credit for wrong answers, assuming you show work. I would recommend this professor to anyone. TAKE HIM!
Abraha really cares for his students to pass. He curves every test, extends due dates and gives partial credit for wrong answers. Attendance is not mandatory but there is a sign in sheet. But he does reward his students that attend class. TAKE HIM!
Don't take any other professor for calculus if you are intimidated by math. This man is brilliant at what he does by being so easily approachable and patient with the student. He wants you to pass and gives you ample opportunity to do so but you MUST put in lots of time to study and do hw. One of Fau's FEW gems. Take him if you want to pass calc
One of the beast teachers at FAU if not the best! Very approachable and understanding if you are having trouble and works with student. If you put a decent amount of effort in and go to his office house once a week to go over your quizzes and exams it is almost a guarantee A. This was the second time I took his class.
Very respectable, sociable, and funny! Gives help if asked and explains calculus in the best way possible. HARD material, but very good professor!
Outstanding. Show all of your work (He's generous with partial credit). Tough content, but there's a built in 8 point curve on tests (For now that is). Homework will keep you BUSY, but nonetheless it's great practice. All around friendly guy that seems like he's willing to give the shirt off his back to help students succeed.
Best professor! Hes very nice and flexible. Curves tests and is always willing to help students. Not an easy class but if you study you will pass (:
Abraha is very easy going & shows that he truly cares for his students, especially for the ones that give it their all. If you show him you care, he will do all he can to help you succeed in the course. Ex: He came in on a Sat. just to do an extra review for the test. He is patient, kind, and caring and is definitely a teacher I will never forget.
This professor is by far one of the BEST math professors I've had! He is very knowledgeable about the subjects and will not hesitate to help you as long as you ask. He explains every thing clearly and his grading criteria is very straight forward. He doesn't overload on the homework and assignments. Just enough to help on exams. Great professor!
Professor Abraha is by far my favorite professor I've ever had at FAU. I took him from 6-750pm. It was a long class and he used the whole time. But he shows multiple examples and good explanations. He is very understanding and is very friendly. Visit his office hours and befriend him, it will benefit your grade. Also visit the SAM LAB!
Professor Abraha was awesome! He is one of the more understanding math professor. Go to office hours he wants to help you. If you show effort he will give you partial credit on your quizzes. Go to class it will benefit you in the end. That partial credit saved my life! One take home quiz and he drops two quizzes. Can retake 1 exam. Take him!
Professor Yonas is the best!!! The material is not easy and if you don't stay on top of your studies you wont pass. But he covers the material so well, he always makes himself available to help and really cares for the students.
I took this class before with Burcu Karabina and had to drop it from how hard the subject was and how bad of a professor she is. Professor Yonas is the BEST! The subject was still hard but he really helps you! Go to his office hours and he will put in the work to make sure you understand the material.
Please take him have good method and care you to pass, and help you I was probation have to do 4 SCIENCE,CHEMISTRY, I couldn't BE PASS BUT HE Encourage HELP ALOT I DID PASS WITH C, BUT because of CHEM, PHYSIC, AND LAB PLUS ORGANIC WITH LAB, AND WORK 60 hr a week if i didn't have drama and to many science I would easy A but I F YOU DO HWRK EASY A
At the beginning of this semester I might not have recommended this professor. Simply because I felt the tests were hard to prepare for. I studied A LOT to do well on them and was not doing as well as I hoped. However he WILL listen to/help you! Make an effort, go to office hours, show up to class. He made great study guides for our last two exams.
Boring lecture, however you can bring your computer in and do homework the entire class. Super helpful when it comes to tests (if you go up and ask him for help), also does a HEAVY curve at the end of the semester. You will need to purchase two online components.
actually cares about his students and explains everything clearly. this class isnt as nearly as hard as everyone says, abraha makes it easy to understand. go to his reviews! also a huge curve. i would take him again in a heartbeat.
He was kind of meh for calc 3. Generous grader if you show up to class and aren't disrespectful. Lectures drag on and sometimes he has you stay late to continue the lecture.
Exams are difficult but quizzes are not hard to pass. Show any work and as much work as you can because the more work you show, the more points he will give you. Methods is definitely not an easy class but he does his best to help everyone understand the material. Overall he is a very nice professor and is good at teaching. Be ready to work hard.
Straightforward but understanding
Although math can be hard for many this professor is very clear during lectures and teaches you so that you will do well on the exams. He is extremely helpful and will spend extra time going over things in class that the whole class needs help on.
stats class with him we had alot of hw. do them and understand them, because quizzes come from the hw and the test come from the hw and quizzes as well. this is a 4000 level class so its not going to be a breeze but with work you should do very well. he is a great professor and will explain things very clearly and is ALWAYS willing to help.
He's a pretty good professor. I have a 96% (I have no idea). The only thing that sucks is he grades his attendance so you HAVE to go to lectures. Labs are the best because of the TA's (shout out Alex) and you can discuss with your friends. Not too hard. Would take this professor in the future,
He's pretty good at teaching. Definitely go to open lab time because its a lot easier if you do. He's pretty easy on grades and drops a lot at the end of the semester. The exams can get replaced by the scores on the final as well. But the Labs can be challenging and a good portion of the class is based on them.
Take fully online!!!!!! Easy A, trust me.
Stats isn't the easiest. He supplies you with all the info you need to pass the class, it is up to you to use it. The first exam I did no studying and got a 70, after that I made sure I reviewed his videos and noted he has, 80 and 100 on the next 2exams. hw and labs aren't worth much and he drops the lowest 3 bumped me from a B+ to an A.
Amazing professor, he made stats really easy just do the work required and you'll get an A. I'm not that smart especially not in math but he made it easy to excel in his class
Class was relatively easy. All excel based. Sometimes the labs and homework's can be confusing. the grading system on limes is weird as well. drops lowest 25% of labs and lowest 20% of homework.
Be discipline. You will have lectures, homework and Labs (quizzes) weekly. The professor is accessible in office or by email which he responds in a timely manner. Statistics is tough but how it was taught in Excel made it a lot easier to master. The grading system is more than fair.
Go over all of the lectures, watch his videos, and do all of the practice questions on the homework. This will help you to do well on the labs. If you do well on the hw and labs, you will do well on his tests. He gives bonus questions for extra credit. If you put in the work, you will do well and his material actually makes statistics fun.
Professor Abraha's class wasn't easy but he always made himself accessible to help you out. He really cares and wants you to pass. The labs really help out but you have to do the homework before you come because the questions are similar.
He is a great professor but keep in mind that STA4032 is a very high level stats class, so it is not going to be a breeze. If you do the homework, and practice enough you should be fine. Please, do your homework. This is the wrong class to slack off.
Class is almost entirely homework. If you understand the material you will do fine on the test. I did not find it easy but I still managed to get an A. Very straightforward, would take again.
His lectures explain the material better and more concisely than the text. The large number of quizzes and exams, as opposed to a smaller number, are beneficial. Partial credit is given. He is approachable and understanding. Participation is encouraged (and noted). Skipping classes is a bad idea; he hates it. Overall, a good professor.
I do not understand all the positive ratings. This class was really hard. It is so open ended and the answer choices all sound the same. There is a none of the above on like every question to confuse you even more. Exams are so short. If you get one question wrong, your grade tanks. Homework and labs don't help and only hurt if you don't do them.
Had Professor Abraha for Intermediate Algebra & Statistics. My only negative comment is his accent is a little thick and sometimes difficult to understand but his TA's are very helpful and easy to talk to. The class itself is difficult but as long as you pay attention, go to class and work hard you will do amazing. I would take again!
I took the class online and it was pretty much an easy A. Your graded on homeworks and labs weekly, which are a small part of your grade. Then there are 3 exams and one final, which is cumulative. The best thing that helped me was watching the videos on limes, which is a program you have to buy. I would also recommend getting Chegg to help
I wouldn't recommend taking this class if you are the type of person who needs help or likes to email your professors. I took this class online. Professor never responds back. The grading is a mess. You have to guess your grade until the last week of class. Extra credit and lowest grades drop, so that's a plus.
Your grade for the class itself is mostly made up of the tests. The lectures are really confusing and do not relate to a macbook (but the lectures are generic for every stats class). He was bad at responding to emails. He did however, send an email out every week with what we should be working on. Quiz and homework due every week.
Mr. Abraha is a good professor. He doesn't mind answering questions and usually explains things in an understandable manner. The subject is a bit dry though, at least for me. He can make mistakes occasionally. Gives a little bit of extra credit for in-class participation, nothing crazy though.
I wouldn't recommend taking his online class if you like to email your professor to ask questions. Professor never responds back. The positive thing is that there are bonus questions on a few labs and the lowest grades are dropped, but the other professors do that too. Look for someone who communicates more often, you will need that. Trust me!
He's a nice guy during office hours and helpful. The homework and labs are tedious and useless, and not worth much. Some of the answers mean the same thing and it is hard to distinguish and tests only have 10 questions which is horrible. The only thing that is the final exam can replace your test grades if it is higher, and it was pretty descent.
Professor Yonas is very good overall. Took this class during the summer term so total of 6 weeks. You need to stay on track with the LiMeS One videos. Reading the PowerPoints is helpful but don't stress. It's impossible to fail. Study and you will do good.
I kinda taught myself for this class. The class consists of homework, labs, and exams. You can retake labs which helps your grade a lot and there are extra credit discussion post opportunities. Use the Limes lab Youtube videos for assistance for the labs, they helped a lot. This class was not too difficult.
Prof. Yonas's class was excellent; you will learn many useful excel skills in statistics and beyond. Lectures are fun to read because of the comments he adds. It is not boring to read and helps to understand.
He is very understanding and nice. There are a lab and homework every week. Three exams total over the semester and the final has 3 parts corresponding to the exams. The best grade gets taken of the 2 and then the final accumulative grade as your final grade.
Professor Abraha does not hold live lectures, making it more challenging to learn the information. The lectures are on LiMES and so are the homework and labs so check it often. Professors office hours are in the very beginning of the week, so if you have questions you have to wait till the following week. Also, not clear about the final.
If youre terrible in math like me, professor Abraha is a solid choice for a stats professor. He has loads of information in his lectures with examples and videos. He also removes your lowest quiz & homework grades at the end. He also is very quick to answer your questions. Taking math online is usually a struggle but this class was manageable.
Pretty easy class is pay attention and put the work in. Weekly lectures that last around an hour and sometimes there's 2 for one week same with the homework. Homework and exams are done through mylab. The lectures explain the homework material for the most part but the only difference is that the lectures teach you how to use excel for problem sets
best professor! very chill and understanding. pretty much an easy class
Great professor
Lectures are boring and waste of time- every hw assignment has a 1-3 5-10min videos with all the same info just condensed so watch those instead; hw, and quiz every week, 3 exams, and a final. All exams including final where open book because you need excel
Quizzes and tests/final are in a lockdown browser with no camera. You learn how to use statcrunch and that basically solves the questions for you. Videos are uploaded on canvas to show you how to use statcrunch. Depending on the question, there are many examples online that show you how to solve the problemsets
This class was quite easy, all you have to do is read the ppts, watch the videos and you should be fine. and we also use statcrunch during the assignments, which makes it easier for us to answer the questions
Great class! Great Professor! I took in 6 weeks and I understand it clearly. If token over the summer beware of deadlines. But over great choice!!!!
Took as a summer class. Overall pretty easy just a lot of assignments. He responded to emails fast and would send out reminders for due dates. Not sure if I would take him again but he rlly wasn't bad just a bit blunt.
Yonas is an outstanding professor. He gives good lectures, but all the homework is primarily based on the stat crunch videos he links for each module. Generally, do good in the homework because most of the quiz and exam questions are based on that. In general very fast-paced class but with dedication, it is possible getting an A.
Professor Abraha is kind and understanding. I didn't need extra help, but other students found him helpful when struggling. There is a lot of homework but the quiz/test was based on the homework with similar questions. Overall if you put in the work and study you should be fine. I took the class in the summer so there might be some differences.
I took his class in a summer mini-semester, and it went quickly. Usually, there are about three homework assignments to complete with weekly 1hr quizzes. Usually, stat crunch does everything for you, and the exam is similar to homework. If you stay on track, it should be an easy class. I suggest doing homework first, then watching the lecture.
Professor Abraha is fantastic. I attended all of his lectures and enjoyed them. He always made sure everyone understood the content and created a question safe environment while trying to make things interactive. I found his lectures to be great and I always understood all the content from them, still check canvas as there are additional resources!
Great professor!! His lectures are great and always tries to interact with the students. He makes the work a lot more easier with letting us use Statcrunch and gives us plenty of time to do the homework. He gets rid of your lowest homework grade and exam grade at the end of the semester too.
The homework is easy and if you do it it should help you get a good grade. Study for the tests and quizzes and you will pass.
Professor Abraha was amazing! Definitely would take it again, good lectures, short classes, and quizzes and tests were fairly easy.
just a good person overall will be a breeze
This course is definitely passable with an A as long as you watch the lectures, take notes, and do ur work. My best suggestion is to familiarize yourself with StatCrunch and how to input information into it. I say quizzes are reflective of the homework and exams of the quizzes, so review! Trust me that if you do your part you can easily get the A.
Awful professor to take online. She doesn't use her own lectures to teach and at this point you just got to do what you can with youtube. Please dont take this course online if you can. Tests with camera and lockdown browser.
I would not recommend this professor. Expects you to learn a lot of stuff without being able to use notes on the exam. He uses lockdown with webcam also
The lectures weren't mandatory and you were given many attempts on hw and practice tests. Uses lockdown browser but no webcam. He doesn't teach he just does examples and has you follow along. Tests are exactly like the practice tests like the types of problems are in order. Pretty easy class to pass.
Take someone else. Copied and pasted videos from another prof who's notes look like a 2 year old wrote it. I'm learning from whatever youtube videos I can find. 6 Tests, 12 questions each, final is 30 questions. Good luck trying to pass with a good grade. Also is extremely rude
I'm not the biggest math person, but I loved this class! It's super easy as long as u know what to look for in StatCrunch. Never interacted w/ the prof, but his lectures definitely helped with harder concepts. He drops the lowest 4 homeworks and 3 quizzes, so even if u don't do the greatest on a test, it's easy to bring ur grade up.
He uses the videos from another professor with a very bad quality. In your homework are some explanation videos that explain it more than the lectures. You have unlimited attempts for the homework. The tests and finals are with lockdown and no notes are allowed.
Good course, easy exams and quizzes, he does have an accent but it is easy to get used to and understand
This professor was was good, he does have an accent but it's not terrible. All of his assignments including quizzes were all opened so you can work ahead if you want
I basically taught myself this entire class on YouTube. Lectures were mandatory if you want 2 lowest grades dropped. The quizzes and exams are all homework questions, he allows a cheat sheet which Is nice. His attendance policy for tests was really strict. He wasn't the worst but not the best. If you want an A in his stats class, teach yourself.
He has an accent, but it's easy to pick up on. Attendance is required. The grading system is very simple and he drops a few of your homework and quizzes. As for the course, it is very simple if you know the ins and outs of Statcrunch.
He tries his best to make lectures interesting and interactive. He has an accent but its not hard to understand at all. The work load wasn't bad at all just homework for each unit along with a quiz and test, and the homework would be due 2 weeks after the unit started. I'm definitely taking his course again!
He has a strong accent that can be hard to understand but overall you get used to him, I actually took him for MGF 1130. Assignments are all online, you get almost 2-3 weeks to do everything. Course only covers 6 chapters which has like 4 lessons in each a quiz and a test. Lowest test grade gets dropped. Attendance not mandatory, really chill guy.
Terrible Professor, Don't take, lacks any bit of understanding and is extremely unaccommodating. find someone else, FAU should be ashamed of this professor.
The class is easy two homeworks a week and one test. No webcam or lockdown browser for anything. Super easy class.
there wasn't a lot of hw and it was pretty easy. tests were only 20 questions or less with no proctoring, highly recommend
Not a hard class, just attend the lecture and he goes over everything you need to know. Very nice and friendly, he always says hi to me when I see him on campus, even though I am no longer in his class.
If you really struggle with math, I recommend taking someone else. His lectures are very fast and he tends to skip over steps so the lessons can be confusing. No quizzes so the tests are pretty heavily graded. Sometimes it seems he is unprepared for the class and does problems with his students but gets the answers wrong...
Not the worst professor, but also not the best. I found myself not understanding the lecture or the notes. However, the homework was extremely helpful in preparing me for the quizzes/exams, and is what really taught me and helped me understand what was being taught. He also allows you to use one side of a piece of paper as a "cheat sheet".
Absolutely horrible class. Be prepared to teach yourself. His "lectures" are left over slides from 2023 and it's not actually a lecture. There is no opportunity to ask questions or get clarification. The homework is the only saving grace as it allows you to get help with solving some of the problems which shows you the steps. No review for any exam
