He's a nice guy, but not a great teacher. He clearly is unaware that students are not focused on his class alone, and assigns an amount of reading that is impossible for anyone, no matter how dedicated, to fulfill. I don't know how he grades, because it's November and he still hasn't graded anything. I DO NOT recommend.
He's not a bad teacher. Lenient grader, listens to students when they have a problem meeting difficult deadlines. Lectures tend to be rather dry, but overall is a good class.
Dr. Hu is a great professor. There is very little busy work: only a paper, a final, and a book review. Lectures are posted online so you don't need to destroy your hand taking notes. He's very knowledgable on the subject matter, and has many interesting stories about growing up in Beijing. Very nice and helpful in office hours and after class.
By far my favorite class this semester. He was well informed, kept the lectures very interesting. Only 3 grades in the class, a term paper, and 2 exams. He was very helpful on the term paper. Highly recommend.
The lectures were interesting in that even though attendance was not mandatory, I came to every class. He is very knowledgeable when it comes to China and East Asian history. Just pay attention, take good notes, and you'll do fine. There is a semi-long research paper, but the hard work I put into it helped reinforce my knowledge. Great professor.
The only grades you have in the class are two essays, a midterm, and a final. He has you read two books throughout the semester and you complete write ups on the books in class. Otherwise, his class is very easy. He gives you the study guide online before the midterm or final so that you know exactly what is on the test. But, lectures are boring
HU is a solid teacher. I didn't think I would like the class at all but he is a great teacher and knows a lot about the topic. Not much work, tests aren't too hard and attendance really isn't mandatory. I would strongly recommend the class.
Professor Huis very knowledgeable of the subject and is a very interesting guy however hes difficult to understand at times because of his accent.Attendance isnt mandatory but he will take attendance very once in a while. He puts all of his notes on blackboard, but there are only 4 grades in the class.Midtern 2 papers and a final.
This class is incredibly easy and interesting. Every day is a lecture so it can get boring at times. There are two books you have to read (with no penalty if you don't), two papers which he grades fairly and a midterm and final which are straighforward. Easy if you've taken an AP class before, and there's almost no outside work. Great prof!
Overall Hu is a great professor. Very knowledgable and friendly. Lectures can get a bit boring, but some are very interesting. Easy to understand, and helpful.
He's a really intelligent guy. The classes can get boring, but I just brought my laptop because he puts the powerpoints online. Not too difficult. He's a cool guy
I had Professor Hu for different classes this year and enjoyed each of them. Lectures can be a bit dry, but he is really helpful, grades fairly, graded assignments are straight-forward, and he has an interesting perspective since he grew up in Beijing. If you have a choice, TAKE HIM. It is worth it.
I'd recommend him. He can be a little hard to understand sometimes, but he understands that and is always asking for feedback on how he can help the students and improve the class. We had a midterm, final, 10-15 pg. term paper, and 9 "pop up quizzes" for the class. It's very doable.
He is very nice, you don't need to take notes, he post the slices every class, just be sure to go class and pay attention but attendance is not mandatory. He is very helpful by email and very fair grading, more of the assignments are easy but it need some dedication for midterm . I totally recomend him
This class is actually interesting. I had so much fun learning about the pacific rim. Typically, he lectures every class and shows a 10-15 minute video about the lecture. Attendance is not mandatory but he gives out like 6 pop-quizzes and it might be info you can only hear in class. For midterm we had to write an essay.2 essays, 6 popquiz, final
This is such a great class. I've learned so much about the Pacific Rim that I didn't know before. Each class is a new lecture with pictures and videos. He is a funny and nice guy and willing to help you. 2 essays that you can have him review before you turn in. A midterm, final and popup quizzes. Easy going class, would definitely recommend.
Dr. Hu is amazing! He's adorable and his class has always been interesting to me. If you're looking to take GHIST 101 take him!! As long as you go to class and pay attention, you'll do decently.
Dr. Hu is spectacular! He has very interesting lectures and he absolutely loves what he does! There will be a few pop quizzes and short writings here and there. They're based on the Power Points and he really only does it to see who attends class. I definitely recommend him to anyone who's taking history.
Dr. Hu is cool, but he is vague with the two essays he gives then grades them pretty harshly. Although he is a cool guy, if you have his class right after lunch, you are sure to fall asleep. Missing is not a big deal at all though. Don't bother to buy the textbook because although he has it listed, he teaches you all that you need to know for exams
There are 2 papers with vague instructions graded harshly. The tests cover so much material it is difficult to get an A. He's super passionate. You think this is World History, but it is really Chinese History.
Really nice guy. Midterm and final are easy but they are really short so you don't really know what to study and end up study 12 a semester's worth of notes... 2 short papers, graded pretty easily. Good gen ed overall.
Dr. Hu is a really nice guy. For some people it may be a little difficult to understand him (I didn't have problem understanding him), but you get used to it over time. Pop quizzes are super easy and the tests are pretty easy to. You have a few papers in the class to. Overall, he's a really nice guy and pretty funny. Would take him again.
The lectures are very long and boring and Dr. Hu focuses mostly on Chinese history. He gives random pop quizzes that are easy. There's a midterm and a final that are short but cover a lot of topics so they're hard to study for. There are 2 primary source analysis papers that aren't that hard. Would recommend for a pretty easy GenEd.
He is my favorite teacher at JMU so far. He's a really funny guy, I thought his jokes were hilarious. He does have a tendency to focus more on Chinese history, but I thought it made the class more interesting. Sometimes he'll give a pop quiz if a lot of people don't show up, but they're really easy. Midterm, final, and two papers. Take him.
Hu is awful!!! He has a really thick accent so it is hard to understand what he is talking about most of the time. He believes that Americans need to know more Chinese history so that is pretty much all this class is. Only a midterm and a final, 2 papers, and random pop quizzes. He is really random when he grades essays so you get weird grades
Attendance is not mandatory, but he give pop quizzes and in class writing assignments from time to time. Lectures feel kind of long but he tries to joke around once in a while. This was my favorite and easiest class this semester.
Dr. Hu was great. I didn't have a hard time understanding him, but he does have an accent. Focuses a lot on Asian studies which I really liked instead of a eurocentric view and education. Really nice and can be funny. I loved it.
He is a Chinese, and this is my favourite class, take him you can rise your gpa definitely. There would be pop quizzes and in class writings from time to time. In the end you will have a double-spaced 10-15 pages term paper, which would make it a little bit harder, but you don't mind writing that, go for him.
Love him! I looked at all the rates and was kinda nervous, but the class is super easy. Two Papers, midterm, final, and pop quizzes. Would definitely take again!!
He is the best history professor I have ever seen! Take him if you want to boost your GPA up. He is very helpful in his office hours, but there are two primary source essay which can be hard as we need to find a primary source essay!
Professor Hu is easily one of the best professors that ive had. His lectures are clear and he explains clearly if you ask questions. You do have essays that are pretty straight forward. IF you go to his office hours, you can get an A. Overall, I enjoyed this history class a ton and im not a history major( so that says a lot).
Your grade consists of two essays, a midterm, a final, and a few 10 question pop quizzes. The pop quizzes are easy, but the midterm and final are much harder. The two essays are graded very harshly and one will be graded by the TA, not the professor. The lectures are extremely boring, but the PowerPoints are online and attendance is not mandatory.
Dr. Hu is the best!!! He's so cute and funny and will help you when writing your papers or with other questions. Lectures are boring but manageable and it's overall a good GenEd. Tests aren't as easy as you expect but he does give extra credit. DO NOT BUY THE TEXTBOOK you don't need it at all because of the details in lecture but take him!!
Gave pop quizzes which I missed from time to time. Great teacher, sometimes his accent gets in the way but overall he's a great teacher.
Overall, Hu is a great professor. He is very reasonable and the workload is manageable. Class attendance is huge since he gives pop quizzes and the test material is on lectures. Don't bother with the textbook, just show up to class and pay attention. He assigns two short essays and is very willing to help you do well on them in office hours.
Lectures are boring but if you make a point of it, you would get something out of it. Be aware of pop quiz and there are only 2 short papers. Overall, he is a very nice professor! Take him!
Kind of hard to sit through his lectures because they are long, but he tries his best to make everything interesting. He does give pop quizzes, but also extra credit. There is only the midterm, final, and 2 primary source essays. Overall not bad he's a safe bet for a GENED
Dr. Hu is an amazing teacher. His pop quizzes are really really easy and multiple choice. Tests are also very easy. There are two primary source analysis papers but he will help you edit them if you go to his office. I've taken him again because I loved him so much as a teacher.
For HIST395 you need to write a 20 page paper, but he gives a ton of help and will read your paper multiple times if you want him to.
He's a very good professor for 101. Easy. Two tests, two papers, gives a few in class pop quizzes. If you put in slight effort you'll do good.
A History Seminar course which the main assignment is to write minimum twenty -page research paper definitely is tough to some extent. Hu is not necessary a easy grader as he possibility is in the Gned course, but is doable if you put fair amounts of the efforts into. it is the good choice if you have strong interest in the East Asian topics.
He is the best!! Personally, I think the class is extremely interesting. Even though the materials on the power point can be a little dry and boring, but his humor makes up for it. He is also very understanding. Also, people who commented on his thick accent, I have no problem understanding him at all.
Dr. Hu is incredibly boring. As a History Major, it is hard for someone to make history boring for me... somehow, he managed to do exactly that. He is monotone and quiet. He covered Egypt, Rome, and Greece in a collective 6 classes and then never spoke about anything but China after that. However, his tests and pop quizzes are super easy.
An incredibly boring professor. Additionally, if you aren't interested in Chinese history, I would not recommend his class. He is a Chinese historian, and this is reflected in what he decides to focus on in class. If you are not familiar with Chinese history, this class will definitely be more difficult.
He gives lectures like crazy, but in great detail. Lots of pop quizzes, but they are very easy if you paid attention to his lecture as the quizzes are right out of them. There are two papers and two tests. He is kind of hard on grading papers but gives great feedback that will help you do better on the second one. Very friendly and willing to help
super easy class. you don't necessarily need to show up, he lectures by the power point and puts the power points online so you won't miss any content but he does throw pop quizzes every so often. 2 papers, 2 tests. he makes the content interesting and definitely knows what he's talking about. big fan go dukes
He's a cool guy. Only 2 papers, and 2 exams, but, there are pop quizzes on the content in class so don't skip, or your grade will suffer. I would of enjoyed the class a lot more if he was more concrete on the paper requirements, and if the power points had more detail not just two words per subject. No textbook for class. 7.8/10 would recommend.
Nice guy. His teaching style and lectures are pretty dry. Not a lot of assignments, just papers, tough grader.
Typical professor. Lectures are a little dry, but most of what you need is on the powerpoint. Definitely try to go to class, because missing a pop quiz will really hurt your grade. There are 2 papers, 2 exams. The papers are tricky, so do not try to do them last minute. He lets you know what to study for for the exams. Thick accent, great guy.
Dr. Hu is an expert on Chinese medieval history and the majority of his class focuses on Asian history, only a small portion on European history. Two primary source analysis papers are confusing if you have never written one before but he will give you good feedback if you email them to him in advance. Gives occasional pop quizzes in class.
Dr. Hu has a wonderful class. He makes his lectures really fun!! I highly enjoyed this class this semester and found it to be really fun! His tests are straight forward to things we have learned directly from the powerpoints. There are two primary source papers but if you ask him for help, they're relatively simple.
if you miss a class with a pop quiz, you get a zero for the pop quiz, no matter what excuse you have. never sure whats going to be on test. read the entire textbook for a test and still got a 50. powerpoints are confusing and vague.
Dr Hu is amazing. He's funny and his lectures are very good. Go to class because there are pop quizzes from time to time. He uses an online textbook (FREE!) and his assignments are straightforward.
I truly enjoyed Dr. Hu. He is funny and easy to pay attention to - His first language was chinese so I find it interesting to hear him speak english! He gives a pop quiz normally once a week so GO TO EVERY CLASS!! He focuses almost half of the content on chinese history, which I didn't prefer, but the rest of the info was fine. Decent class!
There will be a lot of pop quizzes and in-class writing just to check your attendance. 1 mid-term, 1 non cumulative final. 2 small papers.
Professor Hu was a great instructor who helped me feel at home in the history department when I first came here. I loved his class and enjoyed learning about history without being bombarded by a Eurocentric worldview. Too often have I walked into a world history class and only learned about the western world. This class was different & more fun!!
Thick accent, but he is a funny guy. The lectures are very vague so make sure you take good notes about what he is saying in class. Pop quizzes after most units. Only 4 big grades (midterm, final and 2 papers).
Dr. Hu is awesome. He is very knowledgeable about Chinese history and I learned far more than I expected from a 101 course. The assignments aren't hard, just two tests and two papers. The pop quizzes are very easy if you pay attention in lecture.
Dr. Hu really knows what he's talking about. If you show up to class, you are sure to get a B. He does pop quizzes on lectures that get harder throughout the semester, but if you review your notes beforehand, you'll be fine. Just the pop quizzes, a midterm, a non-cumulative final, and 2 short papers. There are some extra credit opportunities.
Prof. Hu is a great man. He really knows his stuff and enjoys teaching. He is funny and keeps you interested in the lectures by relating it to life today. I took this class over Maymester and highly recommend it. Gives pop quizzes, but they are very straight forward if you study before. Two short papers, a midterm, and final (not cumulative)
Get to class 15-30 minutes early every day and look over the lectures from the previous class. If you do that, you will do absolutely fine on the pop quizzes, that he uses just to make sure everyone is coming to lecture. He takes a different approach to world history, and has been very informative/interesting so far. I'd take him again!!
very funny
Dr. Hu is a very good teacher, all of his lectures are very detailed and insightful. He is also funny and keeps lectures light.
Class is all lecture, but if you show up you'll pass. He gives quizzes, so look over notes for those. Has midterm and final (final is info from after midterm). Also has two papers. Papers can be done night before and aren't hard at all. I wrote one of them in 30min and did better than I did on my first one I spent 2 days on.
Dr. Hu is amazing! By far my most favorite History professor I have ever had. His lectures are interesting, funny, and very informative. Very little homework for his class and his exams are not that difficult. I honestly did not put much effort into this course and still managed to get a B. I Highly recommend Dr. Hu for HIST101 or HIST102.
As long as you show up and copy the slides, you're good to go. If I didn't get coffee before class, I'd fall asleep or zone out, as the lectures were pretty boring. A midterm and a final were the only tests. Two primary source analysis essays. Pop quizzes were given if there were a lot of empty seats in the room. Not very exciting but not too awful
He made me glad I switched my major to History. He doesn't use a textbook so need to use the free one he provides. He'll read your essays and help with them before you submit them. He does do pop quizzes, but will allow you to retake if you miss. His exams are straight forward as long as you pay attention... and he tells you what's on the exam.
Dr. Hu is a great professor! Although attendance is not mandatory, he gives pop quizzes every few classes. A free online textbook is used, but if you show up and take notes, you will pass. Sometimes lectures will get boring, but overall I think he makes the content interesting. He is also a very funny guy! Definitely recommend.
He is a nice enough guy, just hard to understand at times. 3 tests and 2 papers that are worth most of your grade, so study/try hard on those. if you show up to class and take notes you'll do fine.
I'm going to start this off by saying that Professor Hu is amazing and I love him. He is funny, cool, and gives interesting, yet entertaining lectures. He is probably the best choice for HIST 101, definitely would take him again.
I could never imagine myself studying history. Things changed after I enrolled for HIST101 for credit hours. He takes good care of his students and somehow manages to make you love history. When you listen to him, you can realize how he tries his best to explain something to you.
Hu was my favorite professor I have had! He is so kind and always open to conversation in class, but makes sure to circle back to the lesson and makes it interesting! He gives super easy quizzes every now and then, that are simple even if you do not attend class. Just look at the PowerPoints he provides and you'll know the material!
Professor Hu is a great professor for hist101. Powerpoints are all posted. Pop quizzes that are easy. Papers are pretty hard though
A solid choice as a gen-ed teacher. He's pretty funny and his lectures are engaging. The tests aren't that difficult either. My only qualm was that he wouldn't post his lecture slides to canvas, but you could email him and he would send you the lecture files.
Dr. Hu is one of the best history professors at JMU. He goes above and beyond to help students. I have never before had a professor who was so caring. He always quickly responds to emails. Everytime I struggled to find sources he would help me. During in person meetings he would also carefully go over my work with me to ensure I my work was correct
I love Dr. Hu! It is so clear he loves what he does and he is a very nice professor. He is very passionate about history and will often tell little stories about what we are learning about just because he finds it interesting. He is clear in what he wants and says and I can't recommend him as a professor, or the class enough!
Pop quizzes and assignments when lots of people were missing. It should have been an easier class but I found the lectures hard to pay attention to. He seems like a really nice guy but there are definitely easier options for HIST 101.
Dr. Hu is another amazing history professor. Dr. Hu really tries to make things easy for everyone but you also have to do your part of the work, which a lot of people do not seem to understand when taking his classes. He usually does some pop quizzes if there are few people in the class. He's an amazing guy to talk to about anything, not just HIST!
Professor Hu is extremely knowledgable professor. His class is not difficult, but he does give pop quizzes and you have to write two papers. He is easy to reach outside of class. His lectures can get boring and be hard to pay attention to. Overall, he is a great professor if you are interested in history as he has many stories to share on topics.
His class is rather easy for someone who does not know a single thing about Asian studies. He spends a lot of time lecturing but that's just how he is. Map quiz, midterm, term paper, and final along with a couple of pop quizzes he gives to take attendance/participation. All in all, great professor and a rather lenient grader.
Grades papers way too hard and the pop quizzes are way too specific. Nice guy though.
Easy material, but he sporadically gives pop quizzes that if you miss class that day, you're screwed. Even if you attend, the material is wayyyy too specific and you may not pass it. He's a super easy grader for the two papers though, and material tends to be straight forward. But man, those pop quizzes have done noticeable damage to my grade.
History is History. It's not going to be the most fun class unless you LOVE history. But, Professor Hu is a solid choice. Pop quizzes to take attendance, 2 essays, a midterm, and a final. Not a lot of outside homework, just try hard the essays because those are important. I enjoyed the class and he's very knowledgable. Lectures can get boring.
I LOVE Professor Hu!! He is such a sweet teacher- wouldn't hurt a fly. He's so helpful if you ask questions or ask for feedback on essays (which I definitely suggest you do). Class isn't mandatory, but he gives pop quizzes sometimes, so try to go to most. Main grades are the two essays, midterm, and final! Very manageable.
Hu is great! Class can be a bit boring and he has a thick asian accent, but he can be really funny at some times. Try to make it to class since he does attendance through pop quizzes. Would take again!
He's really nice and tries to make lectures interesting. There aren't a lot of grades, but I wouldn't say that the few assignments there are are particularly difficult. I'd say it's an easy A, but I still feel like I learned a lot in that class, which is, I think, a good combination. He's definitely more fun in-person btw.
He makes the contents of the course easy to digest, and clearly cares a lot about the subject. His lectures can be very packed, and sometimes it is hard to tell what will be important on the test, but he usually clarifies. Be careful as poor grades on tests/papers can really drag your grade down.
Really funny and makes you want to come to class. Sometimes gives pop quizzes but usually warns you the week before. Lecture heavy, so make a friend if you plan on missing class.
He is awesome. He is super nice, and his stories are actually funny. He gets very animated. There are pop quizzes though so pay attention in class while taking notes. The papers are graded a little hard. He gives his quizzes and midterms and final exams exactly on what we talk about which is good.
Easy class but dreaded going to lectures. Often dry subjects and not much to engage the class. He did pop quizzes once a week which were easy in addition to a midterm, final, and one paper. Overall, easy class but not something I would take again.
Nice guy but he even says that he doesn't love teaching this class. He has expertise in Chinese history and when those units come up he is very knowledgeable. Otherwise, every class is simply him talking at you and I did not learn much. He makes the class easy but attendance is decently mandatory bc of pop quizzes. History can be fun, this isn't.
I absolutely loved him, I have taken HUM 252 & HIST 378 thus far with the intention of taking more of his classes because I loved the ones I have. He is a super animated teacher and I often found myself laughing or losing track of time because of how much I liked his lectures. The only downside is his 10-15 page term papers once a semester.
Really nice but be present in class, pop quiz every week. He is caring and made lecture funny and entertaining. Other than pop quizzes, there is 2 exams (midterm and final) with lots of material and a paper which is graded a little harsh. Overall, best prof for hist 101 and would def recommend to a person looking for an easier history class gen ed.
Prof Hu is a great choice for HIST101. Class time is spent solely on lectures, however he posts all of the powerpoints online so you can still access it if you aren't in class. He makes lectures interesting, major grades are midterm, final, and one essay. Also attendance is not mandatory but he has pop quizzes sometimes so it's smart to show up!
dr hu is a really funny guy! while i'm not a big fan of history in any sense, he made the class pretty enjoyable and it wasn't too hard. attendance isn't mandatory but a lot of the test content is stuff he mentions in class and sometimes he has pop quizzes as well so i'd recommend attending class. your grade is determined by very few assignments.
Prof Hu decided to take a more eastern approach to a traditionally western look at world history which I loved. Instead of mainly learning Greece and Europe, we got to see the development of Asian countries and their cultures. Fascinating lectures if you like history, though sometimes hard to understand and the power points itself were confusing.
The class is very essay heavy with no exams, so if you don't mind doing essays then highly recommend. Lectures were very interesting and made me want to attend class. Although attendance isn't strict, there would be pop attendance quizzes (easy A). He is a very nice and funny professor who understands students well. Highly recommend for HUM 252!
W prof
Dr. Hu gives a lecture every class, usually one pop quiz each week but quiz and test questions aren't overly complicated. Its a fairly easy class if you go to his lectures, take notes on his slides, and review before exams. He will answer any questions you have and is not a harsh grader. The only assignment besides quizzes or exams is an essay.
Dr Hu is an amazing professor. He lectures in every class, but he is so funny and teaches everything in a really easily understandable way. He spends a lot of time on ancient Chinese history which is so cool and it is easy to see he is passionate about it. He is easy to reach outside of class and works with students to improve. Highly recommend.
From my experience, he was hard to get in touch with and didn't give great help when I really needed it. The exams are also very difficult for what they are.
Love my guy.
A great gen ed with lectures that are easy to follow. There were pop quizzed about every two units, a midterm, final, and an essay on a primary source. If you reach out he will go through the entire essay and ensure that you're on the right path. I got a 95 on the paper after talking to him. Reach out! He's really so helpful and the class is great.
Honestly one of the best professors at JMU. He's very engaging and I've never wanted to attend class and learn the material more than in his classes.
Great if you like classes where you copy PowerPoint slides and listen to someone talk. Assignments are pop quizzes, one short essay, and two exams. Pop quizzes are at the end of each topic. He posts the PowerPoint on Canvas so you can follow along. There's one paper for this class that's 3-4 pages long. It can be hard to understand him at times.
Lots of reading but genuinely the best professor I have ever taken at JMU. Attendance in a non-negotiable, if you miss 3 classes, you're gone. That being said, professor Hu is hilarious and the class is discussion based so it's always very interesting. Not a lot of redundancy and he is very responsive to emails. Take notes, they will be important.
I loved professor Hu! I found his lectures very interesting and engaging. Sometimes the lectures were accompanied by video clips which were also very entertaining. While attendance isn't necessarily mandatory, every now and then he will randomly have an assignment for the people who are there(ex. write down your favorite Chinese dish, nothing hard)
His lectures are very interesting and can be thought provoking, and he's very personable/agreeable. Sometimes he can go on side tangents, but I feel like that's natural for a lot of Professors/teachers of history. His grading is mostly fair, but be cautious when writing essays for him, he really values conciseness.
He's actually incredible. Super sweet man, he definitely wants you to succeed. I accidentally took this class (not even a history major, whoops) but he works to make you understand. Sets up tons of outside zoom meetings and basically gives you the points he's looking for if you take the time to meet with him. Love him!!!
Just take notes on all his lectures and review before tests and you'll do great. 2 tests and 2 papers that were straightforward and pretty short, in-class popup assignments that are for credit but if you're in class he automatically gives you a 90. Only reason I didn't get an A was because I didn't study for the first exam and bombed it lol
Prof Hu's HIST101 is a great gen ed class. The lectures are engaging, and he makes even dry topics fascinating. Though the exams can be challenging, using resources like unstuck ai for study prep makes a big difference. Overall, an interesting and rewarding course.
Professer Hu was the sweetest Professor ever! I had his course as an 8 am and he genuinely made it so engaging. he uses humor in his lectures and makes even the boring topics fun to listen to. I truly recommend him as he his deeply caring for his students and their strive to suceed. his exams have super easy questions to gain you some points!
I love this man. Take all his classes, readings are never required, and class was always so much fun. Very engaged and passionate and very funny. 10/10 would take any of his classes again.
I took this course for genEd reqs. Most enjoyable social science course and prof. As long as you pay attention it's light work
He is so funny and so sweet! He does lecture for the entire class, but the content can be interesting. Attendance is not taken, but he does have pop quizzes, so you should still go to class. If you study before the midterm and final, you should do really well. Most average gened!
Only graded on pop quizzes, 1 paper, and 3 exams. Information on slides alone will not be beneficial, but also he goes on long rants that don't always have to do with what will be on exams or useful in the future. Only take this professor if its a last resort or you are very interested in history before 1500
He is such a kind man it can be a bit hard to understand at first but you get used to it and it gets easier. He has had such an interesting life and loves to tell us about it!!! Pop quizzes are a big part of his class, if you are not there for it you cannot take it another time. Not many things graded. If you have to take the class take him!
This professor is honestly a sweetheart. He is very passionate about what he is teaching and it was an enjoyable class to take. Not too much of a workload, but the pop quizzes did catch me off guard a couple times. They were never too difficult though if you paid attention to lectures.
There is only pop quizzes, a midterm, essay and final. The lectures are so boring, no info on the slides and you basically have to go to class because of the pop quizzes. Just wouldn't recommend. Also can't really understand what he's saying. Don't take this, I don't know what the good review are saying because it's just not a good gen ed to take.
way too hard for a gen ed, attendance isn't mandatory but gives pop quizzes, tested on super specific information, really hard to focus and understand due to his accent
