He is an excellent professor. the quizzes are easy to pass if you read the textbook. although his course is online, he always positively interacts with students and gives more useful suggestions. I like discussion part in this class, since i learned more Chinese culture from other classmates.

This professor so cool. Sun has study guides so you know the answers to the quizzes ahead of time. It's a lot of questions on the study guide and not a lot on the quizzes, but you don't have to read the whole book you can just look for the answers. There is one paper that is a little hard, but you have weeks to get it done.

Honestly, Dr. Sun has been one of my favorite professors at CBC and I have taken multiple classes because Dr. Sun cares so much about the success of each student, and doesn't just want you to turn things in, but wants you to actually learn something. If you fail a class from Dr. Sun it's because YOU didn't even try. Truly. Dr. Sun has been great.

Sun is very clear about the expectations of the class. There's a book that you have to write a report on but they're interesting and it makes you genuinely think about the people involved. Easy quizzes and all the answers are in plain sight in the books. Make sure you keep up with the chapters each week that you have to read.

Hands down easiest professor I've ever taken at CBC, and I'm in my second year with many classes taken. Responds to emails within minutes, fast (and super easy) grader, drops the lowest quiz and reaction paper grade. I missed a whopping 2 points for the entire quarter. Great class to pair with a more difficult science/lab class. HIGHLY recommend.

I took the class online, but I could tell Professor Sun was very friendly. The class requires a lot of reading, weekly quizzes, and only a few papers. If you take this class, be prepared to read and write because some quizzes have short answer questions. NOT a tough grader. It is a fairly easy class, but it does take some time out of your schedule.

Dr. Sun is easily one of my favorites. I struggled at the start of the term with some personal issues that took me away from class. Dr. Sun allowed me not only to make up the work I missed, but provided extra credit opportunities to make up for the docked grades due to the late assignments. He is professional, and caring.

I went into Dr. Sun's course not really knowing what to expect, but within just a few days, his became my favorite class. Lectures are engaging, and he encourages discussion, both in and outside of class. He does what he can to make us students fell comfortable, which I greatly appreciate. All in all, I would take another course he teaches.

I've taken HIST110 and ICS130 online with Dr. Sun and have thoroughly enjoyed them. Tests and discussions aren't too hard as long as you did the reading and are relevant to the material discussed. He posts a good amount of videos from youtube that help with understanding topics too. Overall, great classes and great professor!!

This course became my ultimate favorite this quarter. my favorite topic we covered is the WWII era. It gave me a new perspective and highlighted East Asian countries' struggles during the 1930s and 1940s. Dr. Sun really cares about the topics he's teaching, he wants to see you succeed. I really enjoyed being in professor Sun's class. It is a little heavy on the reading and you just have to get used to it but everything is there for you and there is nothing hidden or out of the ordinary. These classes are at a 2.4/5 difficulty when separate but when together they are a 3/5. Both classes required two textbooks each and be prepared to read a decent but manageable amount of material per week.

This professor is amazing! His online class is very well structured. Theres rather a quiz (which is a little long but you get all week and it is open note. Dr. Sun is great! There are 2 books that you need to purchase for the class, and you end up reading 2-3 chapters each week. There is also a weekly discussion board and a quiz every other week. You do a paper for a midterm, a special project (that is accessible on the first day of the quarter), and a final paper. A fair and lenient grader.

Dr. Sun has been one of the best professors I have had so far at CBC. The workload was manageable, but a bit higher when it was getting close to a paper. The grading wasn't very strict. The course materials were interesting, and you learn so much the papers aren't hard to write the required amount even though it seems like a lot at first.

As a first year of being a running start student, taking Mr. Sun class was easy. He gives you a week long for quizzes and around three days to complete discussions post. You are expected to read and write, same with participation. This class fills you with curiosity and leaves to want to know more about East Asia!

His class is very easy as long as you put even minimal effort into it. He does weekly quizzes that take maybe an hour and 1 discussion weekly that should take 30 minutes at most. His grading is very lenient and he sets you up for success with many resources and plenty of time for assignments. He is also very sweet and does care to help.

I learned a lot about Asian History and it has to do because of Professor Yongshengsun. I love his weekly discussion it helped me gather my thoughts and retain information. Although attendance isn't mandatory, I would recommend going to class since Professor Sun really does help the class get a good understanding of the material. There's one discussion and one quiz per week. You have one paper towards the end. He offered our class extra credit, not sure if he does it to all his classes but it doesn't hurt to ask.

You will definitely have to read a lot, but you will be able to learn a lot of the information he wants to convey. The weekly quizzes are easy enough to follow just by participating in class. I have been able to learn about people, empathize and relate with my peers, which are all skills everyone should practice. If you like to read/want to learn about asian history this is the class for you.

Professor Sun is an excellent teacher who is always ready to answer any questions you have for him. He gives engaging lectures and goes the extra mile to engage with his students and get to know them a bit.

Mr. Sun's class was an easy class to take, his class was always entertaining and he gives really good feedback. He was a very nice professor and can be funny, he always made sure he answered your questions and dived in details to make sure you understood. He didn't give a lot of assignments which was perfect.

I took ICS 130, and it was one of the most educational courses I've had. He made complex intercultural studies concepts accessible and engaging, and his teaching was well-organized. I also appreciated that the two books he assigned were both affordable and packed with useful insights, which made learning the material easier.

Good teacher with clear instructions and expectations. As long as you keep up with your work you're almost guaranteed to pass. They're are a couple of quizzes with essay based questions, so make sure to start them early if you're taking this online to take as much time as you can on them.

Soc 101 online was great with Dr. Sun; he doesn't pile assignments on you. Tests and discussions every week, 3 papers but are pretty easy. This class is hard to fail its open note tests, he gives about a week to finish assignments, towards the end he also provides extra credit to boost your grade. Would definitely take another class with him.

He was amazing. Super easy and a very easy grader. I really enjoy his class and would definitely recommend him.

Mr. Sun is an amazing teacher. even though he has some longer assignments, it is nothing to be scared of, this class is one of the best I've taken. But do beware, he does have two textbooks that you must read to pass the class, so be ready to read, but Mr. Sun is an amazing teacher nonetheless overall 9/10, would have again.

Professor Sun is an incredible teacher, during all his assigned work he's extremely lenient with the grading and provides great feedback to aid you with future tasks. His work is a little time-consuming, which is a given for the history class, but it isn't as hard as it first appears when you finally figure out how to manage your time.

Professor Sun is a great teacher and is very easy going. I took his course online and besides having to read two books it was a very easy going class. The work load is very light and doesn't take a lot of time. He also offers extra credit and is not a tough grader, I would definitely recommend!

Good class. The work is easy just a bit time-consuming. He is lenient with grading and has good lectures. The two books used in class are affordable and easy to read. I highly recommend this class as you will learn a lot from Dr.Sun

Prof. Sun is great! His class was super interesting and easy, but I still learned a lot from it. There is a book report for this class but it's pretty easy and an important book that was a good read, not boring at all.

I love this class! Dr. Sun is an amazing teacher who genuinely cares about his students. He explains everything clearly and makes sure we know what's expected. I've learned so much and would take it again if I could. It's an easy A as long as you stay dedicated and finish your work on time.

This professor was absolutely amazing. 10000% would take again. His course was very well-organized, and the methods he used to lecture were extremely effective as long as you paid attention. Even if you took his 8:00 am class like I did, it's extremely easy to digest the information he is giving the class. 10/10.

Dr. Sun's ICS130 class is solid, with a reasonable workload and engaged lectures. Leveraging Unstuck ai alongside the textbook makes the course manageable. Definitely recommended for students looking to learn efficiently.

As long as you complete discussions and quizzes on time, you will get an A! Very nice teacher. Dr. Sun will send out messages on Canvas regarding current E. Asia-centric events, such as the release of new movies. I found her to be a very engaging professor, and the class discusses genuinely interesting information.

When I came into this class I wasn't expecting to really enjoy it but it was a good experience. He doesn't give to much work, as he only does a Weekly discussion every week and a weekly quiz and then a Paper for the midterm and final. Instructions were clear, he offered good feedback and it's a easy class as long as u read the material.

He cares about his student's passing. He gives a reasonable amount of time to complete work. Easy class to manage! I would for sure take any other of his classes.

I don't know my final grade yet, but I highly recommend this professors class, as long as you read the materials you will be good to go. TAKE HIS CLASS!

The professor is always active and shows that he cares about his class. If the class together does something wrong he is always there to correct us. The professor also gives us extra information to learn more about what's relative to the class.

I've taken two of Dr. Sun's online classes now and loved them both! The hardest thing is staying on top of the reading, but as long as you carve out time for it you'll be fine and it will be worth it - the quizzes take prompts directly from the books. You really learn a lot, and he's very understanding and clear in quiz/discussion instructions.

Dr. Sun has a well organized course with most necessary resources you will need. Most course content for quizzes and such is found in very clear PowerPoint lectures. You might have to buy one or two books, but they are relatively cheap. Overall great class so far and Dr. Sun actually communicates with students. Just don't procrastinate.

I have taken this professor once before, and the reason I took him again is because I really loved how his online classes were set up. It totally works with my schedule, and while the weekly assignments do take time to complete, they are very simple tasks overall and the expectations are clear for what to do.

As long as you read the required books and look at the lectures, this class will be an easy A for you. Most of your work will involve writing, but there are clear instructions for what you have to do.

The professor does great describe the discussions and how to prepare for test and does amazing job presenting his lectures I very much enjoyed this class you're a great professor and would love to take another class with you I would recommend this class other people.

When I took this class I knew I was going to enjoy it. Dr. Sun is an amazing professor overall. He is very considerate when it comes to grading. Only a few papers but they are pretty simple. There are discussions so make sure you answer those. I've learned he tries to respond to very response. Overall I would recommend him 100% to anyone.

Dr. Sun is amazing, and the course itself is incredibly interesting. The class isn't very hard, but the content can get heavy, as one of the main discussion topics is the Nanking Massacre during World War II. Just make sure to put effort into the work and turn it in on time and you will easily pass the class.

Professor Sun was great! He always kept the class uplifting, even when topics got heavy. Good grader and made sure you had an understanding before you took the test.

Incredible professor. He is always ready to teach you something new and useful in a fun, interactive way. Gives many extra credit opportunities, so take advantage of them. Minimal homework, weekly discussions and assignments. He will make you participate, but he is not hard on you. I would definitely take this class again.

It was super fun to attend classes, with the teacher being super talkative and hilarious, I was never bored in class!

Took history of modern East Asia and survey of Asian American culture. I really liked that the classes were mostly discussions based. Professor Sun also helps you with any questions you have related to the course.

Dr. Sun is a great professor! Weekly assignments are easy if you put in a little effort. Clear rubrics, helpful feedback, and fair grading. I'd definitely take his class again. Highly recommend if you're interested in sociology or need the credit.

This is a very online heavy class along with some required reading. Nothing too extreme, if you can balance your schedule properly the work is enough for you to learn without being swamped with work. Dr Shun is a very grader and the times I have missed points he points out why and next time I get the points if my work improves.

As long as you keep up with the readings and watch the videos, you'll do fine. Professor Sun is a reasonable grader and just wants to see that you're learning and making an effort.

Second time taking Professor Sun, he's such a joy to talk to! Good online class, I prefer engaging in his in-person lectures from the previous class I took with him, but I just like in-person classes. Weekly discussions and quizzes, plus two papers--all from the books. My understanding grew a lot about Asian American history in the United States!

Dr. Sun is fantastic! I enjoyed attending his class, and he was very accommodating if you are unable to make it in. He is very informative and engaging. He advocates for extra credit assignments. I definitely enjoyed his lectures and knowledge.

Dr. Sun is very knowledgeable in his field, gives clear lectures offering lots of new perspectives and details. He wants you to succeed, as long as you do the work he will find a way to give you credit. He cares about his students and wants them all to pass.

This subject wasn't super interesting to me but this class was fine. Easy-ish A if you need the credit. Would definitely recommend. Also you don't have to try that hard on the papers, he is the easiest grader I've ever had.

Lots of reading, but manageable and interesting topics. Every week, you can expect the same, which I liked, and it's easy to follow. The discussions are straightforward; you just need to answer the questions, and you'll do fine. Professor Sun is always willing to help if you have any questions.

Dr. Sun is great! he provides everything you need to pass the class with an A+. All you have to do is try, he is lenient and will work with you. It was a very reading heavy class, but you are given ample amounts of time and videos from PBS as support. Overall, he has been one of the best professors I've had at CBC and I highly recommend him.

Professor Sun is amazing. I would highly recommend this class if you need a humanities credit. I genuinely enjoyed the material and learned a lot. There's a weekly discussion and quiz based on the reading for the week, as well as a final paper.
