He was okay enough for me to pass the course. His exams were difficult, strictly requiring the use of memorization from his problem sets. Also he is extremely boring and monotone. Had him for 101/102. 102 is much harder. He explains ideas very clearly, but sometimes it's hard to pay attention to his monotone voice. Doing the problem sets will help you understand concepts that underlie problem solving on exams. Both finals are quite difficult, they require you to think critically about what you learned. Would recommend.

He was okay for chem 101, but chem 102 was a lot harder. Make sure you do the problem sets- exam questions are often VERY similar. He's crafted questions in a way where if you do the obvious calculation you'll get a wrong answer. He also focuses the practice test on what he won't cover. I just saved you all your tears.

Yoram Apelblat is very nice. As a chemistry major, his lab assignments were fair and the lab exam was great if you prepared for it. I ended up getting 84 in the lab and 70 on lab exam, which helped bring up my mark, but I went from a B to a C+ because of the lecture final exam. If you want to do good on the lab exam, DO THE PROBLEMS!

Wow these 102 labs are absolutely insane - “expect to take 1 hour on the prelab and 1 hour on the post lab” has to be a lie. From taking the time to read the lab manual (which is worded in all jargon and feels like a scientific journal) to doing the assignment on a separate piece of paper and copying all that in pen, lab takes 5 hours on average.

It's possible to do well in chem101 lecture but the lab is designed to weed people out. It's painfully obvious that the lab content and instructions have not changed since the 1900s as they IN NO WAY align with what we are taught in lecture. It's a shame that this course is a requirement for so many majors. Terribly designed. Thanks Apelblat.
