He's a very vauge kind of lecturer, that rarely gets his points across. The class follows the text book word for word, point for point - so, rather than waste your time actually attending, spend the class time in the library doing the work, and ask all the resulting questions to the TA. Likely your grade will be just as good if not better.

Taught straight from the text (he had it open in his hands every class like a bible...), so don't expect to get greater insight just by showing up to class. He would often get confused and write something completely wrong on the board; it would be up to the class to catch his mistakes as he rarely saw them, and couldn't puzzle them out on his own.

Go to the lectures. Everything on the exams is explicitly discussed in the lectures. Be very clear and complete when answering exam questions and you'll get an A- to A without any trouble. Exams will take you the entire time, down to the minute. They're essay exams. Skipping the lectures will result in you having a very bad time.

Yosh is stuck in the 1980's with regards to his education style. All he does is straight lecture and then expects exact regurgitation of material in the way that he thinks it should be stated (Not the purpose of post-secondary academics in my opinion), and if you don't read his mind he will flunk your paper. Do not take this as a booster with Yosh.

I absolutely loved the content, but the way he grades and gives feedback isn't appropriate. He expects a specific form of writing and fails to explain what he wants. I tried to talk to him about improving, and he confused me even further. The class average didn't change through the entire semester, so you won't be able to improve. Extremely lazy.

Yosh gives fairly interesting lectures and the content was great but the class itself was boring. The grading is poor and there is little expectation given for how the papers are meant to be written. Not a lot of feedback given. Does allow cheat sheets. I have got exactly the same grade on every paper so far. Take that as you will.

Mr. Kobasigawa is an interesting case. At first, I thought he was horrible; class was disorganized, lecture was everywhere, poor explanations. Then I realized that his iq is so high that we mortals can't keep up with him. By the end of the course my view of him 180'd and I loved his lectures. Its not how you start but how you finish, or so I hear.

I enjoyed business ethics and thought the content was very interesting. Yosh's style of teaching is different than most (posts small readings, no slides, writes on white board), but I ended up really liking it. You must take good notes in this class as it is really all you have to go off of in terms of studying.

Yosh provides MANY papers about the topic at hand. Not all are necessary, but be prepared to have your questions answered by "read the so-and-so paper" or a new paper on d2l the next day. Be prepared to explain topics in a form very similar to the papers/authors being discussed on tests and papers. Lectures are intense but amazingly interesting.

You have to be decent at writing essays and formulating arguments based on the ideas Yoshiki puts forward in class to get A's on the papers. If you're not a big essay writer and have trouble writing about given topics, avoid any of his classes. He's mid, at best. Wasn't all that lenient with students in Fall 2020 during Covid-19, even with weight-shifting grades. His explanation for concepts are okay but I believe other Philosophy profs do a much better job than him. If you are new to Philosophy and are looking to learn, don't take him. Instead, choose an establish professor.

Yoshiki is not a bad professor, however, the online format was not conducive to a great class experience. The frequent audio issues were annoying. He is a fair professor, a little dry but what you put in he will give back. If you engage, he will be very helpful. If you pay attention and take good notes, you don't need to do much work out of class. I think the reason some students don't love him is that he will not go above and beyond to engage so you have to actively listen.

Genuinely hated this course and this prof. Lectures were incredibly boring and long, he read directly off of slides, spent half the lecture arguing with students over theory when they were just trying to understand. Midterms were awful and heavily weighted, I dreaded doing the readings. Do not take this class if you don't have to.

Dr. Kobasigawa is one of the better profs I've had throughout my degree. He is really caring and attentive towards his students. He decided to not count the first midterm towards our overall grade because the class did not do so good. He is not a hard marker, but you have to put in a good amount of effort to get a decent grade.

Yosh is a good professor that tries to create discussion within the class. However, his lectures are extremely dry... he kind of just talks over a word doc with notes. My big critique is that for his essay-style tests, he gives too many prompts // too much for the word count allowed, and then asks for more details in the feedback portion :/

His feedback is vague to the point of disrespect - his assignments are exceedingly incoherent. I took 2 harder Phil classes in the same semester and I got 20% higher grades and real feedback that exceeded 3 words. This shows me that it wasn't an issue of effort or understanding, rather the issue is his teaching/communicating abilities.
