Fantastic instructor! Very helpful when something in an experiment is unclear and is very specific on what will be tested. Also extremely understanding if you are ill and cannot attend a lab.

He's pretty cool and easygoing. The labs were quite long, but they were fun. He's an easy marker and he gives a ton of bonus questions on exams. He wants everyone to pass the course. Basically, the only way you could fail this course is by not going to any of the labs or lectures.

Honestly, I learned more in the labs with Youlien than I did in my lectures. He is 100% there to help you pass. He literally tells you what to study for the lab midterm/final. Funny and friendly. Youlian was my LI for BIOL 1001. The lab course wasn't good, but Youlian made the labs alright. Take note of what he says about lab exams because he's telling you what's on them. He is also a tough grader, so know you stuff before the lab. He is a really funny guy, but don't expect him to be super nice.

Youlian is a decent lab instructor he will tell you everything that will be on the lab exam. However, you have to work hard for a good lab mark. He posts marks on his door and most people did pretty bad.

Youlian saved Biology 2210 for me. He is an AMAZING lab instructor! He makes wicked slideshows summarizing the important things we need to know which saved me for the quizzes. Had Youlian for Ecology lab, he understands the material is a bit boring and jokes around with students which helps a lot. The first few labs are so so easy and very little work, there is a research paper and some longer lab write ups but nothing that isnt manageable. Would definitely take another lab course if he was the instructor!

Youlian is a top notch lab instructor. Midterms and final only consisted of the expected things and nothing surprising which is a plus. Aside from all labs being mandatory the work isn't hard and you always have plenty of time. Especially when you ask him, he tends to tell you what to write at the same time explaining why. 1000 points for sure.

I am not the type to go out of my way to recommend anyone anything but I feel an obligation to now. It was a real blast going to the labs and I would never dread going to them. This instructor is the real homie, a true based god.

Dr. Tzenov instructed my Bio 2600 lab, which due to COVID was administered remotely. He went above and beyond to accommodate and explain the labs, which was extra-appreciated during these unprecedented times, and made labs, which could be potentially unbearable, extremely manageable and even fun with weekly video breakdowns. I strongly recommend!

Youlian is a fun and easygoing instructor. He taught the lab component with simplicity and clarity! Since everything was delivered remotely, he kept his assignment instructions short and sweet to eliminate confusion, while still providing detailed instructional videos on relevant information for each lab. He's also very accomodating with grading!

I had Youlian as a lab instructor for Plant Biology in the winter 2021 semester. Since the pandemic, everything has been moved to online learning, and he has done such a good job with this transition. He is very understanding of any issues, and posts full lab explanation videos including detailed lab instructions (very clear and reasonable).

Amazing prof, he put in so much effort to make a remote semester during COVID as enjoyable and as educational as possible. I cannot recommend him enough, best prof I've ever had!

Mr. Tzenov has been the best laboratory instructor I have ever had. Clearly states what he expects in each report. Mr. Tzenov is a caring lab instructor who has no issue extending due dates as far as you may want, "as long as you learn something". He post tutorial videos to statistical programs like R and is super reachable outside of class! 100%

There is simply not enough room to describ what a pleasure it was to have Youlian as a lab instructor. Not only is he hilarious, but he is one of the few university profs that actually cares about you & wants you to succeed. He is extremely approachable and will answer any question you have... even the silly ones (although he may make fun of you).

BY FAR the best lab instructor MUN has ever hired. Sciences/ lab courses are usually quite heavy and difficult, however this is not the case in Youlian's class. His explanations are very thorough. If you listen. he gives you the answers to pretty much every question, which makes you actually want to learn. Kinda mad he only has a 4.9 rating

Dr. Youlian was Fantastic, I highly recommend any student who sees him teaching to trust him blindly and get into the course. He made the material very interesting and achievable even if you were not a bio major like myself. Youlian was my lab instructor for Evolution 2900. Labs can be wordy but he makes it fun and understandable!
