sarcastic and foreign, take someone who knows how to teach for a calculus course
This teacher gets most problems he goes over wrong. He is hard to understand at times because of his accent. He tries to help but fails. Stay away from this teacher.

HORRIBLE! Cant understand ANYTHING.
Guhhhh. He has the worst analogies. If a McDonalds is 500 square feet, and the sin of theta is 1/2, then how clean is the bathroom? And he always says "Pretend your homework is worth 10,000 dollars. If it isnt now, it will be." What?
He was fine online...
sucks
worse math teacher i have ever had. he cant teach and cant even do the problems correctly
Can't teach. Foreign accent makes him difficult to follow. Races through material. Constantly makes computational errors. Tests are completely unpredictable. Irritable, annoying, and sarcastic. Worst math teacher I've ever had.
HE is the worst teacher i have ever had. He really uses bad analogies. He prefers to go to the bathroom and study. HE thinks that by studying in the batthroom while takig a crap is the only way to succed in calsulus.
by far the worst math teacher i have ever had, i spent this semester teaching myself. his job is to make things clear not to confuse things. after every class i came out more confuse than i went in. DO NOT TAKE CHOI!
HE is horrible. Stay away from him.AS FAR AS POSSIBLE.
Awful...just awful...
If you were to get an A in anyone elses class expect to get a C. He is impossible and I ended up teaching the course to myself
He's a relatively new teacher and is still working on his lecture style, and his english as well. If you can learn out of the book, his exams are straight forward, but more difficult on average. It is necessary to learn the concepts well to do well..
Terrible, just terrible. Don't even think about taking a class with Choi.
I did good on the Math SAT's and am generally good in math, but this guy takes something I already know and makes it so confusing that it is impossible to sort it out. He makes so many mistakes on the board, he should really go back to school before confusing people. Avoid if possible.
save yourself!!! do not take this man as your teacher!!!
Good professor. Online class was very organized and easy to navigate and understand. Prompt and helpful.
nice guy, but to many analigies(i will come to you in your sleep if you don't remember this.)one minute were talking about math and the next were on a 757 jet.to early in morning to understand, because we were up all night doing lab work.overall an o.k. guy.
Choi is the most confusing and lousy prof ever. He should find another career, maybe liquor store owner since he seems to make a lot of alcohol related analogies (his way to "relate"). DO NOT TAKE. I regret taking him severely. If you read this Choi, please quit teaching. do everyone a favor.
horrible teacher..an ok guy, but absolutely horrible..cant understand a lick of his language..
He is a great insturctor for the online course. he answered all my questions bery promptly and clearly. So ONLINE at least he is excellent!
Just Excellent! Take his class, you will enjoy it.
This professor really cared about us. He prepared lecture notes for us, gave us many extra points, and even let us re-took tests. He helped us a lot. If you do exactly what he says in class, EASY... Make sure that you do your part, no free ride in his class...
I took his online course and he is pretty good. If you have any questions, he responds very promtly. His tests are up front and not that difficult if you keep up with the work. He gives alot of work and also gives the answers to your tests so you can go back and see what the problem was. Overall, a good teacher to take.
today was my first day with him.. omg the man's english is screwed.. math is my worst subject and to have a professor who doesn't speak english too well is gonna throw me off.. i wanted to transfer to another class but there are no open ones..

horrible. not only did i not understand half of the time what he was trying to pronounce, he teaches things you really didnt go over in high school. i hated the litte word...(OR) expecting you to give him more than one answer for a problem (even on tests). Can't even teach. Guys, don't take this professor!!
Very consistent, the professor explains materials very clearly in class. You don't want to miss his class. Good luck!
His English is fine (those comments aren't accurate)-- GREAT Prof: thorough, fair, gives xtra credit, encourages all the way, exams are challenging but fair, and gives FABULOUS OnLine practice quizzes and tests so your learn PRACTICALLY! THAT helps SO much! I'm glad I had him as Prof- he made sure I was prepared to pass the next level Math course.
Great Teacher!!!!!!!!
I thought Prof. Choi's class was great. He spent a lot of time actually teaching and the students understanding was his primary focus.
NOT A GOOD TEACHER> DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS.
You cant even understand what hes saying. He basically has you teach yourself the material. He gives you 100's of handouts and expects you to do alot of homework and online work. I would not reccomend his class.
Prof. Choi can be a bit difficult to get a hold of. I took his class online, so I don't know if it is different otherwise. The class itself wasn't hard, but I'm glad it wasn't because I basically had to teach the entire thing to myself.
Prof. Choi is very nice and he cares about progress of each student. He always points out the main topics that we need to know for tests. And he is very very funny! Excellent teacher!
Prof. Choi is very nice and he cares about progress of each student. He always points out the main topics that we need to know for tests. And he is very very funny! Excellent teacher!
I found him to be very unclear with direction's causing me to fall behind and have to withdraw from the class. If you are taking an online course for the first time He does not help you much with assignments. He seems very sarcastic with his responses to emails which i found to be disrespectful.
He explaines every concept in a clear and intersting way, I just enjoy sitting in his class and listening to the lecture. You don't want to miss him, GREAT!
Very hard to understand what he says. he gets frustrated with students very easily, and can be rude at times for no reason. He seems very sarcastic with his responses to emails which i found to be disrespectful. Unless you are a math wiz, i suggesst another teacher!
Greatest teacher. Gives makeup tests and extra points. Very helpful. He even tries to care about slackers not to fail them.
I believe those who complain about him are the ones who don't even know the nuts and bolts of mathe just waiting for 'spoon feeding'. I took precalc from him and saw some students don't even know how to solve '1/4-3/7+2/5' taking precalc. They gotta take some lowest level noncredit mathe course first instead of complaining about him here.
makes fun of people during class, is not encouraging, tells people it's normal to fail and encourages people to withdrawl the class.
He is not the easiest teacher to understand but those who do not like him are the ones that put 0 effort into this class. Treats you like a college student so you need to act like one to do well. Good Class though, fun!
tough teacher i studied 30 hours ever week for this class still got a b never take him
Incredibly unhelpful. Never answered e-mails on time, and when I asked for help or had just questions about the class, I never got a straight answer. I worked almost 20 hours a week on his class and he still expected more. Very unrealistic expectations. Never take him, it's not worth risking your grade.
Not to great with the extra help but if you pay attention in class, you will do fine. Most student get frustrated the first week or so but it gets easier and if students gets overwhelmed, he is willing to postpone assignments and give you extra time...just ask!
hewas the most unclear professor. if i had a question he would just tell me to look in the book. When i went to his office with questions he wouldn't answer them and he just told me to send him emails. In class he just did problems without explaining them. everyone failed his tests so he gave retakes till you passed. gave 2retakes after 4hr final
First off his accent makes it very hard to understand whats he's saying, considering math is difficult for a lot of people, this is really bad. If your going to do ok then your gonna be teaching and studying by yourself, a lot of us practically lived at academic support center. Work part of all is that he kept preaching god at random points!
Very hard to understand...does not teach the curriculum and expects you to spend your life in the academic learning center. I was never notified of my "failure" or even being close to failing even though I had done every homework with 100% and all quizzes. Highly suggest another professor if you would like to save your grade.
This professor is very intelligent but very hard to understand. He does not give out homework only my math lab plus. His test are easy if you pay attention in class and do the homework. Only negative thing i have to say is he goes very fast on lectures so its hard to catch up if your falling behind..
Horrible teacher! If you struggle in math DO NOT take his course. Very hard to understand. If you have a problem with a question, forget about asking him. He is terrible! Worst professor I have ever had!
The best professor ever, he teaches very well and very clear to understand. You never regret if you take his class.
Took online diff eq w/ him. He didn't teach and only used YouTube videos from other people. It's an online class which requires self direction. However, he didn't provide any instruction. Exams are fair and he tells you topics covered for each question. Doesn't have office hours.
He was a not funny
worst teacher ever. whenever i asked a question he would yell at me and my partner. dont take his class
Professor Choi is great professor. Thorough with explaining any questions. Funny guy too! Be sure to do your part by doing your homework and reviewing the lectures he assigns in the syllabus and this course is incredibly simple. I got an A+ in the class but I found that my classmates who were having trouble did not prepare themselves before class.
He made it very hard to pass this class. Put in min effort but expected beyond max effort from students. This class is 100% selftaught and the exams were too hard. The final exam guidance was to know how to do the 161 hw problems assigned.I LOVE math and this class was still a huge challenge.Do not take him online if you're looking for a fair course.
He was somewhat funny. He helps and is an iight teacher I suppose.
If you failed this class, it's probably because you do suck at math. He helped me a lot. This class was by your own pace. So you can't really fail unless, you are really really stupid. Also he lets you re take test till you pass with a good grade. (Note: I didn't try hard and got a B. So yeah)
The WORST professor I have ever had. If you're not as good in math, like myself, then do not take any classes he teaches. He goes so fast in the lectures and if you get behind, it's your problem and he has limited sources to help you and give extra help. Spare yourself the stress and take a different class.
Guy tries to be nice by offering his class food or coffee. He uses that as a replacement for the time and effort he should be putting into lectures and grading. He marked answers wrong on a test when they were clearly correct. Hard to understand him sometimes and was a waste of time to show up to lectures. He would go over book problems on a slide.
Everyone in my class hated him. I for one enjoyed his class. He gives very hard problems and I think if you are going into STEM, you should take him. Do problems that are not even assigned because the extra practice will benefit you in the long run. Read your textbook. Calculus is learned through practice.
DO NOT TAKE HIM FOR AN ONLINE CLASS I spent hours and hours and hours doing hundreds of MML questions every single night. way WAY too much homework. His notes are useless and doesn't give good feedback on forums.
If you're not doing well in math don't take this dude. He's a nice guy but sucks at teaching. Every time I needed extra help he gave me nothing. I went to the support center and in the 10 minutes there I understood more than in one of his class lectures. Totally sucks.
Goes over material too quickly in class and does not take the time to explain what's going on. If you miss even one class you are so behind and it's impossible to catch up. Do not take him. I received 100% on my homework but struggled with the tests and finals. Failed me by 2 points. Horrible teacher.
Professor Choi was one of the worst teachers I've ever had. he gave terrible lectures, and gave up on them half way through. His "lectures" were him reading directly, poorly from the text. When he stopped giving lectures he would expect us to figure the topics out on our own. I hate to say this, but there was a genuine language barrier. STAY AWAY!!
Yikes. Line up your textbook and your tutors because you'll likely need them. The thick accent makes learning a difficult topic even more stressful, and essentially you'll be teaching yourself here. He cares but explains everything quickly and gives lots of ungraded homework. Tests can be pretty difficult and are worth the majority of your grade.
He was very nice! Also it was a very easy math class. The material was very simple to understand if you pay attention in class.
He made class very easy to understand and it was a fun environment, he genuinely cares about your success in the class.
I took Choi for Calc1. He's a nice guy, but gives a lot of homework from the textbook, he lectures quickly straight from the textbook w/o really explaining the material. If you want to actually learn in this class, you have to teach yourself. His accent is pretty thick & there is a genuine language barrier. I wouldn't take a class with him again :/
you have to study your self basically. He doesn't teach but i kinda like that format?
Avoid if possible. Often comes to lectures unprepared, which in turn results in disorganization, dissonance and inadequate explanation; makes concepts far more complicated than they need to be. Definite language barrier, challenging to understand at times. Grading policy left unclear, however, seems rigorous and partial credit is never awarded.
Horrible professor, does not care for his students at all and gives low effort lectures. Basically have to teach yourself. Avoid at all costs
Hes the worst Professor I have ever meet . He is so mean and careless about students achievement. He needs training on teaching !
Honestly I had this professor and I really wish I didn’t, doesn’t care about how you do just said “ I get paid to come here and read off the board” does not care about teaching his students and trying to community with this man through email just good luck
Absolutely horrific. I took his online course and was just thrown a bunch of homework every week with no
Dr. Choi ALWAYS made himself available for me and unlike many other professor's, he took the time to sit down and teach me the details of any questions I needed answers to. He was very supportive to me as his student up until the very last day of the class. Put in the effort, ask him for help, and complete the homework assignments. Excellent prof.
No explanation for lectures. Only gives PowerPoints without any clear description as to what is actually going on. It takes a long time to respond and does not seem willing to work with you.
I liked his class.
Dr. Choi is my favorite professor. To be a student as ESL, I was really lucky and appreciated got the chance to meet him,Learned a lot from STA 1:Collecting datas without bias,Type 1,2 Error ... It's good to bring those formulas into real life, it's helping me to make life decisions.AND HE IS A WONDERFUL PROFESSOR!!!!
The teaching curiculime in the course was not good AT ALL. DON'T RECOMMEND.
Honestly and funny and cool professor. I loved the guy. Participating and asking him questions helped me through the class.
Professor Choi is the MOST annoying professor at Rvcc. not only does he teach off of slides, his explanations are horrible and genuinely hard to understand with his accent (sometimes). DO NOT take him unless you are ready to go to office hours or the tutoring center 50% of your time in the semester. WARNING: DO NOT TAKE HIM.
STAY AWAYYYY IM TRYING TO SAVE YOU MONEY AND TIME BRO IS CHEEKS AT TEACHIng and should looked into I swear. Homework's and lessons the hours to do even you already know some of the stuff. Take another teacher it will be your savior I am telling you. Sadly I wasted my time and money
