At the beginning of this class, I had a love a hate relationship with it but now I'm okay with it. He gives you two weeks to finish homework, quizzes, and tests. His class is fairly easy, the only reason I passed with a C is because I did not study and did not do some of the homework. I would 100% take this class again.
I totally recommend this teacher if you need this class for your major. Although some of the chapters were difficult, none were impossible to complete. There were various videos that the professor produced in order to guide us through the lesson. Everything minus the final was done using Pearson which is a helpful site. Definitely recommend.
Great professor, and very caring. Class is a bit difficult and you definitely have to put in the work but if you do should do well. Its a very test heavy class for sure and a good amount of homework but you get 2 weeks to complete it so if you spread it out its not bad
Very cool and understanding professor. Really tries to accommodate the majority of the class and is very responsive if you have any question or concerns. If you study and do your homework you should pass very easily.
I took his online course and it was straight to the point. He posts lectures and gives you plenty of time to do the homework assignments. He goes in depth in the lectures which was nice and he breaks them up into different sections. Overall I liked the pace of the class because it was at a constant pace it never felt overwhelming.
Professor Youssef is straight to the point and clear. Regardless of being an online calculus class, his lectures were well-explained, and the course modules are consistent and organized. This class felt a little overwhelming at first, but once you get caught up with all the material it should be pretty easy if you are good at time-management.
Professor Francis was nice enough to enroll me into the class just a few days before the deadline. The class consisted of a few quizzes and tests every few weeks. Although some of the concepts were difficult, following the lecture videos made them easier to learn.
Very good teacher I took the class online and it didn't get so complicated because you have enough time to do the homework which helps too much if you have other heavier classes that but in general he is a very good teacher and it's not so difficult I would certainly take it again.
The class was pretty difficult but the way the modules are set up, the homework is incredibly manageable. The only thing that was difficult was the first test in the class, I had not done math for about 3 years before this class so I did poorly on the first test, but other than that it was good. The teacher is very fair.
It is very good teacher the truth if I would take the class again with him because it gives you enough time to complete tasks that if you have more classes it helps you a lot so that you do not get stressed and take things calmly
great professor I took it online and he gives you more than enough time to turn in the assignments. I would definitely take his class again.
Did all the work and passed the class. Video lectures were well explained. Also, was replied to any of my questions within 24 hours.
Great instructure. Recommend.
Great instructor. Would recommend!
Great professor overall but he does leave a lot of homework and the quizzes are long.
The professor itself its good, just keep in mind this class will require a lot of time and watching the videos also takes time. So if you are able to manage your time well enough you wont have issues in the class.
I took professor Francis online so of course class discussions and quizzes for every chapter. The only thing there is a comprehensive final right after the last chapter exam so make sure you study. The good thing about professor Francis is that he constantly extends the due dates to quizzes and exams so everyone can catch up.
Professor Francis is great! His videos are clear with how to do problems and he does a good job at showing you how to do each problem. The tests and quizzes are hard because you can't skip to problems you are better at solving so you kind of get stuck on a problem but if you show real effort, you should pass.
This is one of the better/easier math classes I have taken in college. I think some of the topics were hard for me to completely understand but the lecture definitely made it easier. I think some of the lectures could be combined into less videos but overall, great teacher and great class to take online structure wise
I definitely would take this class again, at first it can seen overwhelming with the multiple video lectures, but there pretty short. Although, the class is fully online, you actually learn! & understand the material. The professor also responds pretty quickly to emails.
Great professor! There were many lectures but they were all relatively short and definitely helped me finish the hw and the tests. One of the more organized online courses I've taken and I would take the class or a class from this professor again.
Participation for this class is uploading handwritten notes for texts. Pretty good class overall!
I took this class online, it was math 120, I took this class as a "fast-track" and it was average, you need to have my math lab, and the homework are every 3 weeks, and also the quizzes and a test. At the start it's pretty easy, the second and third module get a little complicated but the end is really easy, also the final exam its pretty easy.
Lots of discussion posts and finals get kinda hectic because he assigns tests, quizzes, and discussion posts during finals week.
Good professor!!
Overall 100% recommend this professor, especially for math 120. As someone who struggled with math in high school this class wasn't so bad. There is quite a bit of homework but he gives you a lot of tools to help you out.
When I needed assistance regarding online assignments or extensions, he was very generous and understanding and I am very appreciative of that. He cares about his students and wants them to succeed. His due dates are clear and stated way ahead of time so just make sure you are on top of it and you will be fine.
I had a difficult semester, which made me sad to not pass this class but I was lucky that I had a great teacher. He gives his notes on PDF and you must buy a separate notebook as well which was helpful. He has video lectures which are awesome. I wish I could have passed but due to personal problems I wasn't. I highly recommend this MATH 120 online.
He is a great professor, his lectures are pretty straight forward and easy to follow. His exams are a little heavy, but he does give a lot of partial credit. He is also very caring and will take his time to explain concepts to you outside of class.
exams are a bit long, but he gives lots of partial credit (on quizzes too), grades quickly, and allows 1 double sided page of notes per test (even the final!). lectures were easy to follow, and all the hw was due the day before the final. made the class free (no textbook or hw cost), & he rounded my final grade up, which I appreciated greatly.
I would recommend taking discrete math with Professor Francis. I took it over the summer and it is a fast-paced course so be ready to spend most of your time doing math! The structure of the class was very well organized allowing for enough time to complete each assignment before the due date. My only critique is limited time on tests with proofs.
he's super chill and his lectures are incredible at teaching you the content. he is very accessible through email and responds really quick, and gives super good feedback to help you on your tests. i suggest to copy down his notes with intention, since most of the stuff he goes over in lectures is on tests/quizzes and DO THE HW!! great prof :)
I took this course over the summer and it was very fast paced, but everything was straight forward. It was the same structure every week and it consisted of discussions, textbook homework, quizzes, and tests. It is doable if you put in the work and time. Although feels like there is not enough time for tests/quizzes.
I think it is a little bit difficult using Latex because of timewise. Besides that everything was okay. Also the deadline for discussions, i think it should always stay open.
Very fast paced. Video lectures. Do all the homework, even though it isn't collected. It felt like there was never enough time during tests, and you are required to use a jank LaTeX editor to type math expressions for proofs. He grades proofs harshly for tiny nitpicks. If I could go back, I would take discrete math with another professor.
Professors lecture videos and notes were very helpful with material. Latex was difficult to use so be prepared to practice as it takes up a lot of time on tests and quizzes
he was a nice professor
I took 265 over the summer (online/asynchronous). Spent around 10-20 hours a week on this class. It is entirely up to YOU to learn the material through the textbook/video-lectures. Do the HW to prepare you for tests. He responds extremely quickly to questions over email and grades really quick. Only complaint is the time limit on the tests.
Professor Youssef was a great professor to have for this course. Professor Youssef made lectures very clear with ample examples for each section. His tests were fair as well and didn't include anything outside of lectures.
Professor was strong in his recorded lecture material. There were some inconsistencies amongst the test material. For example, one test said the answer was one thing and the next test said something else. He was willing to fix grades after a few days when students reached out. Overall, he was a decent teacher, but not too involved.
This class is very fast-paced and you can easily fall behind at any second. Graded on weekly quizzes, tests, and discussion posts for each chapter. If you watch the lectures, and do the homework you can get through the tests and quizzes easily.
I took this class over the summer so the pacing was very fast. It was difficult to use Latex as it was new and trying to use it on tests was not easy. This caused a problem because there was not a lot of time on tests and quizzes so I spent majority of my time using Latex and sometimes I would run out of time.
Took it online, so lectures were posted on canvas. Make sure to keep up with homework, lectures and notes. Tests are heavily based on the material discussed in the lecture/notes. Some test questions are really similar to questions asked in quizzes and notes. Other than that class was fine as long as you stay on top of note taking.
Professor Francis's online course was set up in a way that made it very easy to follow along the chapters in the course. You need to do the homework for the course in order to stay on top as his class moves really quick and you cover a lot in a short timeframe.
Professor Francis is really one of the best college math professors I've had! The whole course is asynchronous, but the structure that professor Francis set up makes the whole process super intuitive, and you always know what's coming up next so there aren't any surprises. Homework is optional but it helps A LOT for quizzes, so its recommended.
This class was very fast paced, but that was not a big surprise as it is a summer class and a course with a lot of material. Overall, if this material is completely new to you, it will be difficult, but if you have done probability, set theory, or proofs before it will not be so difficult, you just need excellent time management.
I took this class over the summer, so this is a fast-paced course. Professor Youssef teaches the material well, you can go at your own pace, and he responds fast to emails. Quizzes and exams are weekly with the expectation that you are prepared by doing the homework, but time limits are still tight. Overall, a good professor, challenging course.
Very good teacher, watch the videos and you will do great! Very passable but hard to get an A which is fine!.
~8 week summer course. Amazing lectures that I could actually sit through and watch. Very rare professor / class that I didn't mind taking online. Only con is the grade is determined by about 9 exams. Since there is very few time, this class WILL take up a lot of your time. Very responsive too.
Great Professor. Explains everything in detail and gives you a lot of content in case there are topics you don't understand. Tests are reasonably difficult but the time given to finish can sometimes be too short.
There is assigned homework at least once a week. Sometimes either a discussion post or a quiz (or both) and then a test. The proofs do get a bit long and take up all of your quiz time so be ready. The professor does give good feedback on each quiz and test. Lecture is clear and understandable. Material is made easy to understand. 10/10
A good professor was able to explain the material clearly and was able to answer questions outside of class time.
Great professor. Weekly assignments consist of either discussion posts or quizzes (or both) and a single test. The lectures were clear and straightforward. The material was made easier to understand. Feedback is given on every quiz/test to improve on writing proofs. 10/10 would take again.

This class was a good experience, although I don't feel like I did that well in the class, it definitely was not because of the professor's lack of resources or help. If you do take this online like I did, make sure to focus hard on the homework and try to soak up as much information as possible.
The course was condensed and online so there was a lot of work but the professor was always willing to answer emails and explain concepts that were difficult to understand. Although the content was difficult the professor was not.
Professor Francis is a nice professor. He responds to emails frequently and clarifies questions you may have after a quiz or test. However, if you take MATH265 online, you will be asked to write proofs using Latex, which takes up most of the time on exams. Additionally, the final exam was much harder than the weekly chapter tests due to less time.
I enjoyed this class and how he taught us over videos which is hard. When it came to tests I didnt feel like he gave us enough time. Since this was a compact course I was already struggling with the concepts and on top of that the tests were difficult with a strict time. Every test that had proofs I never finished answering all the questions.
Latex was something that people had to use when doing quizzes and tests. There were a lot of unanswered questions because of the trouble with completing proofs in a given time frame. The tests and quizzes should be timed longer especially with proofs because there is a lot to write out and using latex makes it slower.
Professor makes the material manageable. Lots of homework, but helpful resources like pdf notes and video lectures. Unstuckstudy AI was great for practice problems. Recommended if you're willing to put in the work.
This class is great, however it was harder than I had anticipated. Especially the tests on proofs. The only issue I would have with the professor is that some of the tests and quizzes are a bit long for the amount of time we have to complete them. So you rush through some of the problems could do better if you had a few more minutes.
Professor Youssef is great at teaching and goes over many examples. Exams are long and require a lot of studying. Make sure to keep up with homework, as there are quizzes from time to time throughout the semester. Tough grader but gives amazing feedback. I would recommend him for diff eq and any other math class.
This professor was great all around. Lecture was pretty straight forward, exams cover very similar problems done in class, and the class is easy to keep up with if you study.
This professor was great all around. Lectures are pretty straight forward, exams cover similar problems done in class and the class is pretty easy to keep up with if you study.

Honestly, one of the best professors offered here and cares a lot about his students. He teaches very well and is clear with what he wants when you write your proofs. The one issue I have though is the amount of proof questions on a test compared to how much time we get. Seems too much, in my opinion. Otherwise, great prof. and you will learn well!
Professor Francis has a very straightforward and easy to digest class. Although the homework isn't mandatory it's pretty much needed in order to succeed in the class. My only complaint is that exams required multiple half page to full page proofs and were too long for the time that we were given.
Class made up of 4 exams, final, quizzes + homework(due at end of semester). Keep up with lectures/homework. Exams are made up of problems done in lecture, you are allowed a cheat sheet. Zero textbook cost, includes a pdf of his own text that's used for lectures, uploads weekly notes, and available outside of class. One of my favorite professors :D
I consider Francis a fair teacher. I say this because he's very lenient with deadlines, but homework are sort of long each taking me around 4-6 hours to finish. As for the tests they are quite challenging but as a trade of he allows a full 1 page front and back cheat sheet.
Great professor. In order to prep for exams, go over his class notes.
Prof Francis is a solid choice for Math 253 (Intro to Diff EQ). His example-based lecture style makes it easy to understand the methodology behind the techniques taught in this course. He cares about his students' success and gives plenty of opportunities for help and guidance on the material. I would highly recommend him for Math 253.
Professor Francis is a solid choice for Math 253. His example-based lecture style makes it easy to understand the material and he offers many opportunities for help and guidance. The syllabus calendar ensures that upcoming material, quizzes, and exams are not surprising. He cares about his students' success and I highly recommend him.
No textbooks required so it was awesome. His homeworks also were due at the end of the semester so you have plenty of time to go over each chapter. And by the way you get 99chances for each questions. Which I think was sweet.
It was zero textbook cost, so I did not have to pay for my textbook, which was awesome. His homework was also due at the end of the semester, so I had plenty of time to complete them. He clearly explains all the process.
As long as you pay attention and study, you'll be fine. This class is difficult and for his class make sure to practice using the HW questions. The HW isn't graded and I regret not doing some of it. You either need to practice or memorize the material because there is no cheat sheet for this class.
Professor Francis' lectures are insightful and do a great job of teaching the material. However, it's worth mentioning that almost everything outside of that is almost exclusively self-taught. It's up to you as a student to practice the concepts as homework isn't mandatory.
Professor Francis is a pretty good teacher for Differential Equations with relatively good lectures but he does go by a bit fast, uploads lessons on canvas as easy-to-access PDF's near the end of the week, very kind and will go into detail if you have questions. There is also a HW lesson for every section as well as a few quizzes. Would recommend.
HW assignments for every section, everything due at the end of the semester. Lessons are uploaded on Canvas near end of every week. Deadlines are lenient and his lectures are good, concise; however he is a bit quick during class times. Would highly recommend.
He will walk through problems step-by-step and answer any questions. Free textbook and uploads a PDF of class notes. HW isn't too much, but I'd recommend studying it as it's more similar to quizzes and exams than lecture examples. I would've liked to see more of the harder/longer problems done rather than a lot of easy ones.
His lectures are amazing. He goes into detail on little things that you were wondering about and how he got that answer. His exams are on what he teaches.
Highly recommend, will habitually reteach material from a prereq class if he feels a couple students need the extra help. Really good at introducing new concepts in multiple ways so we can grasp the concept better. Overall a really good experience with Francis for two different classes, helped make me and many others become better math students.
He is a great professor. I've taken him twice now and his lectures had always been good. The only thing I would think it would be better for this course it's more quizzes, specially in the chapters where you need to write proof's since I thin with the homework you don't get enough feedback to see if you are good enough or not.
Professor Francis is great, this is my second time with him, and he's super helpful. The material itself is pretty easy, but exams might feel rushed if you're unprepared. Homework isn't collected, but since exams use the same questions, I would recommend just doing it all. Also, don't underestimate any online exams just because they're open note.
All homework is due the day before the final exam, so there is no need to rush, but it is very helpful to do it before the quiz and exam. No study guide before the exam, so it is difficult for me to know whether I am fully prepared for the exam. The content of the exam is not simple and requires proficiency in applying the knowledge in the book.

I couldn't recommend this professor more, he's one of the best professors I've had, he knows how to teach and give amazing lectures, he's a great person, he cares about his students, and he's always accessible to help you with any problem, his class it's difficult but with effort you'll get trough it, the exams are mostly problems from the class.
Professor Francis is a great mathematician, the lectures for math-253 are fast with few variations of problems causing homework to be difficult since you have not seen how to deal with specific problems. Be prepared to attend office hours or learning content on your own time since these difficult problems will be on exams.
The class is challenging but while listening to Youssef lecture, his love for mathematics and it's artistry becomes abundantly clear. I genuinely believe he wishes for nothing but to see more students share in his passion. He always seems genuinely happy to help. His lectures are easy to follow and the exams/quizzes are straightforward.
Great professor teaches very well, is good at explaining when students don't understand the material and he doesn't give crazy amounts of homework. Only downside is that some questions for his midterms can be a little bit tricky so I'd recommend having a good cheat-sheet and since class is just 1hr and 25min he might not go over too many problems.
Professor Francis is a great professor to take for calculus, he will take his time to teach everything detail by detail and will allow you to bring a cheat sheet(Front and Back) to every exam, he opens up all the homework and quizzes at the beginning of the semester so you can get ahead and focus on studying for the exams(there are only four).
Was honestly a great teacher, I am someone who never liked math and struggled a lot but his test were not that hard and he did not give a lot of homework. Gave enough time to do homework if a lot was given. Pretty understanding if you missed an exam, he will reopen it if you email him and give you two extra days.
Calculus is hard, but he provides tools to be successful like videos to solutions and his notes. You should be getting 100% in the hmk section as multiple attempts are allowed.Just make sure that you do something every day. There's a quiz & exam for each chapter He gives you plenty of time to do everything. He responds to emails in a timely manner.
Professor Youssef is a good professor, he teaches you everything you need but can be fairly quick paced so don't loose focus. He highly encourages to do the homework and quizzes since they are a free amount points. At the end of the semester, he may offer some small advantages for struggling students but nothing too big. Good professor overall.
Great professor. Uses visual aids from different math websites. I had to retake his class and he switched stuff around which shows he is always looking to improve his lectures. Do the homework and you'll do well.
Class is well organised and we get a cheat sheet for exams. Homework and quizzes are online and all due at the end of the semester. The exams sometimes have an extra credit question which is nice! Only critique would be that one of our exams was online, I think it wasn't enough time to finish and I prefer the normal exams. Overall a good class!
The class was difficult but very passable. I made the mistake of getting behind in homework and that is why I have the grade I have. Tip, do not just do the homework, do the extra practice problems he gives out and go to his after-class hours for any questions.
Do the homework AND the extra practice problems!
Overall recommend. Is heavy in Mymathlab so make the class seem sluggish. But is fair in grading and will learn a lot
Overall Great. There is a lot of MyMathLab HW which will make the class sluggish, but is a fair grader and nice classroom experience.
Professor is great and easy to follow. Tests can be a time crunch though. Be certain to set aside enough time for study and homework, as the material and the tests for this subject are dense.
Really good overall, but my only problem were the discussions online, they were really difficult to type online. I think it would've been better if they were written manually.
I am not going to lie and say this class is a cakewalk despite receiving an A. It was a lot of work and a lot of studying overall. Professor Francis is pretty reliable when it comes to communication, just don't make it last minute for best results. If you want a high grade in this course, you're going to want to stay ahead of your work.
Does not collect homework but do the problems he suggests as hw anyway. You need to know exactly what to do once you read exam questions since you won't have much time to think about what to do. If he graded homework, you learn his expectations early on. If I were to redo this class, I would do lots of homework as practice and go to office hours.
The professor is very realistic because he gives enough time to complete the assignments.
The professor is really good and easy to follow. Just a heads up, the tests can be pretty stressful. So, make sure to set aside enough time for studying and doing homework because the stuff in this class can be pretty intense.
Professor Francis is the best math professor you could take. He gives you so many opportunities to pass the class (cheat sheet front & back, practice problems almost exactly like the exam, etc). His office hours are also very helpful if you want to understand certain topics more or even to talk about other stuff. Definitely take his class!!
Easy to follow lectures. You have to really put in the work to get an A in this class. Use tutoring help if available from your school for homework as needed or go see him in person on campus.Overall, best Professor at this school for this class!
I wouldn't say this is an easy or hard class. It's a matter of keeping up with homework, quizzes and tests, be sure to do them in advance. Staying on track is so important which guarantees a passing grade. Also, he has videos and notes which help you better understand the content of the class. Overall, great class. He doesn't accept late work.
Highly recommend taking Professor Francis, if you are taking this class online and want to get ahead and search Youssef Francis on YouTube. Make sure to set time aside for all assignments for this class as most will take time to complete. Overall great class!
My time with Professor Francis was overall very positive. I took this class online, but the modules each week were very straightforward and easy to get into the rhythm of things. Professor Francis responded to emails very quickly and attentively, and detailed reminders through announcements. Overall very good experience!
This class was hard but doable. Everything you work on during the homework will be on the test. There are alot of homework assignments but examples are provided. The one thing I didn't like about this class is he only gave you 2 hours for a 40 question final, which led to me skipping harder questions so could get to as many problems in time.
Professor Francis seems like a genuine, caring, and coachable teacher. Taking his online Math 120 course was a breeze, and allowed me flexibility to complete on my schedule. Be sure to keep up with due dates as they are strict. Overall would recommend him to anyone.
This class is HARD but it will be hard no matter which teacher you take. He provides videos that are short and make it easy to understand the course work. Everything in the HW will be on the quizzes and tests. Overall pretty easy but the math itself is hard.
The material itself wasn't too difficult, there were many assignments, quizzes, and exams that required consistent effort, but Professor Youssef gives you plenty of time to complete them. Overall Professor provides many resources to help you succeed, as long as you take the time to understand the chapters DON'T FORGET TO DO THE DISSCUSIONS
Youssef is a great teacher who cares about his students. His lectures are engaging and he explains things clearly, making it easy to understand the material. While I'm not doing my best due to personal reasons, his teaching has helped me a lot. Just a heads up, quizzes and exams are tight on time so work quickly or you might not be able to finish.

Professor Francis was a great professor. It was homework heavy but hey plans it out for you to have enough time to complete assignments so do not freak out the first week doing his online class.
This class was very good It wasn't too hard nor to easy he is a great teacher he just hands out A LOT of homework its not hard just a lot of work I would recommend if u want to take an online course.
amazing professor, always willing to help! took him online and he provided videos for each unit. homework/quizzes/tests were due about every 3 weeks, but it is quite a lot if you do it last minute. regardless he's good at teaching, he made calc not feel so bad
Very good at explaining difficult calculus concepts. Made homework and quizzes due at the end of the semester, which allows you to do those at your own pace, but best to do them as the class progresses. Would recommend.
All you have to do is master the extra problems and homework to pass. That simple.
Professor Francis makes it clear what will be expected on exams, practice problems are provided per chapter in preperation for exams. He's a good professor who makes sure no one is failing to grasp a concept due to algebra. For my class, one of the exams were online, something he has never done before and hopefully wont do again for future classes.
Everything was easy to understand the professor worked with deadline expectations. It was a very fun and interesting class.
The class is Easy to understand and it was a fun class. I'm glad I took this.
very fun and easy class, struggled a little with graphs but the professor is always there if you need it.
Math isn't my strongest subject, but this class helped me with the pace and the flexibility allowing me to keep up with the learning demand on new math of never seen before. The professor was always there if we need anything and I would recommend this professor to anyone.
Although homework was not required or graded, there was a lot of recommended problems to do. Doing them all definitely helped me understand the "correct" way of doing them as the professor liked them done a certain way. Even without the homework, his lectures and notes were a great baseline for understanding the material.
This class was not as bad as I thought it would be. I am not the best at calculus but I was able to get through this semester. Youssef Francis was pretty accessible and understanding. Had to purchase Pearson and the homework assignments were pretty heavy to complete depending on the module but as long as you stay on top of it, it is doable!
Professor Francis really makes this course manageable and is entirely up to you if you want to pass or not. As for me, I got by pretty well by just doing the homework on time and doing all the practice problems that were made available. Homework is due at the end of the semester but it is in your best interest to stay on track and not fall behind.
I really enjoyed taking this class. Professor Francis' lecture videos were incredibly helpful and easy to follow. He does an excellent job of explaining the material in a way that makes it much easier for students to understand.I also had the opportunity to meet with him during office hours, and he was very nice and provided great guidance.
Overall, a difficult teacher. I did pass the class, but I would not take his class again.
What I enjoy most about this class is how easy it is to understand the material, thanks to Professor Francis' clear and well-explained lecture videos. He broke everything down in a way that's easy to follow. I would definitely recommend this class 100%!
The professor teaches pretty well. You can understand everything if you listen. There is a lot of material in the course reader you have to buy, but he doesn't do all of it he skips sections. Do the homework in the syllabus and visit office hours for the best chance of success in the class.
The class is passable with a good grade if you stay on top of due dates. The assignments take a while to finish but he gives 2-3 weeks to finish them which helps. Test are really important as they have the most influence on your grade and they are closest to the homework problems so study from there. Not an easy class but doable.
10/10 professor. Quizzes and homework are online, if you complete the homework and quizzes you will pass the class. Attendance is mandatory, you get a grade for it at the end of the semester. Professor cracks jokes here and there. He knows his stuff, and teaches you some short cuts that you probably won't find in the textbook. Would take again.
Professor is a 10/10. Lots of homework and few online quizzes. Complete all of it, you will pass. Clear lectures, gives great shortcuts on how to do some problems you won't see in the textbook. His handwriting isn't the greatest but you learn to read it after a while. He's funny, cracks a few jokes here and there. Course is difficult, not him.
Study, do homework & participate
Teacher was nice and the class was very manageable, assignments are given and you have alot of time to complete them. Overall an understanding teacher and assignments weren't too hard.
For me, Youssef Francis is one of the best math professors that I have never had. He knows explain very well. Just to be honest, Mr. Francis is so smart and sometimes make equations "easier" for him but it may cause confusing on students. However, professor Francis did a wonderful job in this class.
Calculus is difficult; he takes that into consideration and makes the class as easy as possible. For exams you're able to use cheat sheets and a calculator. He has tricks for you to learn the material. This class is heavy on the hw. DO HOMEWORK and attend office hours. Majority of the grade is based on exam scores.
Have a lot of ways to look for examples and ways to solve homework, but it is probably a total of 8 assignments per week including homework, quiz, exam and notes, some weeks of the semester we didn't had homework
Professor Francis is an amazing person to learn math from he gives excellent steps and teaches you proper math annotation that you should definitely carry with you for life. Don't slack off, don't assume steps, ask questions, and do your duties as a student. You'll get through the semester with a good grade if you put in the hours.
Great professor overall! I really liked that the assignment's due dates were spread throughout the week. He responds very quickly if you ever need help with something!
He is a good professor; he gives much time to do homework.
I would take this class again, the professor was always willing to help, the test were heavy and there was a lot of homework however that is how it usually goes with online courses, you need to stay on top of the homework to keep up with the course.
He is patient with his explanations. He does not expect students to have a perfect understanding of Calc 1 or Algebra so he will often times explain concepts from those lower-level classes in case you have forgotten. The exams for this class are fair for the most part IF you do the HW. But I found exam 4 (online) impossibly long for a 2 hr exam.
This teacher had a great teaching style, just the right amount of homework not to much or to little which was great!
Professor Francis is a great teacher with quick responses, clear on all assignments, and does an amazing job helping students out. He is definitely the best Math 120 teacher at SWC! I would highly recommend him if you have to take it as a requirement.
Youssef Francis is one of the best professors for the math 120 course. Although this is a lot of homework he give you just the right amount of days to complete the assignments and give the perfect amount of time on quizzes/exams. I would highly recommend taking this course with him as he is very understanding and an overall great teacher.
All of the homework, quizzes and tests were on Pearson which you have to purchase. Homework, quizzes and tests were due about every 3 weeks. I felt this was enough time to complete the assignments. There is also one discussion per chapter and test notes to turn in. Overall I thought his class was manageable. I recommend.
There's a lot of homework weekly and a quiz and a test, be extra careful with tests because they have a huge impact in your grade. He is very easy to reach, answers quickly and he is open to correct your grade in case of mistakes, he also gives a bit of extra credit. The work is tough but he is nice!
Every math120 is going to be hard, especially online, but the professor is very caring he has a lot of videos explaining and his own personal notes, and also responds to messages within minutes
I you're reading this , this is your sign to take this course. The care and understanding he shows is remarkable especially for it being an online course. Prof. Francis really cares you understand the material, very patient and very lenient
Great Teacher as long as you do you work you will pass.
I liked this class. You have to buy the lecture notes, but using them makes everything so much easier. I liked that he actually posts lecture videos, so I didn't have to rely on the textbook and the videos provided by Pearson. Do the homework because it's just like the quizzes and tests. Also for every chapter, there is a discussion board.
He is a good teacher overall, gives video lectures if you are taking his online class, he gives plenty of time for assignments and tests, it is a hard class and a lot of homework, but as long you put the time to the class, there should not be a problem.
Professor Francis is amazing and did a great job of explaining confusing topics in a way anyone could understand. I would 100% recommend taking any of his courses.
Overall, he's a great professor, homework is clear and if you do the work you”ll pass the class, just try to keep up. He does provides explanations and lectures/videos.
There is a lot of HW, but there is a lot of material to be covered so expect 30 HW problems per section, do your HW the same day so you don't fall behind. HW (10%)and Quizzes (10%) are online. Attendance is 2%.Tests(4 @ 60%) are fair, nothing you haven't seen on the HW or lectures. Dont take too many classes because you will be doing a lot of math.
Great professor with good lectures! Just do the hw and that will help w quizzes and tests
Pretty lenient and direct and fair
A lot of homework but his lectures are very easy to follow through and comprehend. He does help when you message him and is a lenient professor that wants you to pass the class. Would take him over any other professor again.
The workload wasn't to bad, and the prompts of the assignment were clear. My overall grade was a B which wasn't to bad and the professor did offer one extra credit assignment. Wouldn't be a bad option to take him.
Professor Francis is a good professor and will give you the help you need if you ask but other than that, the way he teaches is just based off examples. You need to be on top of hw or else you will be behind and he makes all the hw due at the end of the semester so if you plan to take this class keep that in mind.
The class isn't that hard just memorize the formulas and you should be fine
His handwriting is hard to read most of the time but besides that, understood most concepts easily, just had one bad test day. Grading is simple, get near 100% on homework and quizzes and you can pass the class by getting around 60-70% on the tests. Goes by subjects really quickly in lectures. Just work on the ppractice problems he provides.
Great Professor, accessible outside of class he offers office hours and different times. I attended several times whenever I had questions and he was always willing to help with questions ab homework or other topics. His grading is very clear and also had lecture videos explained by him which come very handy. Definitely would take him again.
This professor is very knowledgeable and good at his job. He helps a lot especially towards the end the semester I would gladly take him again.
Hello I'm taking math 120, Overall I enjoyed this class even though I don't particularly like math. The professor did an amazing job, was very attentive ,supportive and understanding! Just make sure you time manage correctly and keep up with your chapters.
He's very nice and does amazing lectures, I took him online and he gives about 2 weeks per chapter which is extremely do-able. Theres a discussion a quiz and test for every chapter and a good amount of homework but his lectures are very detailed and have step by step instructions for every type of problem. Really helps you understand every concept.
Mr.Francis is an excellent instructor who truly understands how to engage students in an online format. His lectures and modules are clear and well-structured, making every chapter easy to understand. Although he assigns a lot of homework, quizzes, and tests, he gives you plenty of time to complete them. I would definitely take his class again!
For a calculus class, this wasn't as bad as I thought. The class was straightforward and simple. We have modules for every week or so, covering the topics we need. We watch lesson videos, read chapters, and do homework in MyLab Math. The professor is available and you get multiple tries for quizzes and homework. Stay invested, and you'll be fine.
Course material is as you would expect for calc 2, nothing exceptionally difficult but still gives a challenge. He's straightforward with exam content and lectures reflect well on them.
The coursework is well-paced, each module takes about a month. Modules include homework, a quiz, a test, and a discussion post. The professor reviews posts for AI use; a violation earns a zero and possible course drop after two offenses. Homework and quizzes are on Pearson (paid $70ish?). For tests, you must upload notes, so don't forget this!
The class was semi challenging, though I am decent in math. I will say that you have keep track on due dates to not fall behind or miss out on points that could effect your grade from goin to an A to a B. His notes are easy to understand and are very helpful. Also gives good feedback.
Great Professor, his lectures are clear with many examples to go over. A bit of homework, but it is necessary in order to grasp the material.
Pretty straight forward professor. Tests are based on lectures notes. Not a lot of homework. I definitely recommend this teacher if you're planning to take this class. Can't go wrong.
He was actually one of the best math classes that I've taken at Southwestern College. He had homework for every chapter, but it wasn't due until the day of the final, which made it easy to keep up with everything, and he let us have cheat sheets for most of the exam and quizzes
Super fun professor, if i could i'd 100% retake his class, im not the best at math but he made everything understandable, just pay attention, show up, do your work and take notes, you'll easily pass
I decided to take this Calculus class online and it was the best decision I could make. The lectures were explained very well and I was able to understand everything completely. Having to work my way up to be able to see my grade was a bit stressful, but kept me motivated to do everything on time and get the best grade I could.
As long as you pay attention to the notes you'll pass the class he basically explains everything.
Would really recommend this professor for this class. He lays out the modules and all the homeworks very well and as long as you are keeping up with the class modules and not getting behind you should be able to pass the class with a good grade.
Great teacher, just make sure to watch all the lectures ahead of time because some of the modules can be pretty long. As long as you take your time, it will be easy.
Course content is delivered through videos created by Professor Francis. The videos are not too difficult to follow and will often be tested. He will often explain what is needed or extra knowledge (usually advance topics for exposure) before doing exams and quizzes. This course is straightforward.
He is one of the best math teachers that I have taken so far. He let us have cheat sheets for all of our exams and quizzes. He explained the lectures in a way so we could understand the lecture more easier and didn't rush explaining them.
The class is easy; he will give you around 2 weeks to complete the homework for one chapter. Just don't procrastinate, as it will be challenging. If you complete all the homeworks, the quiz and test before the due date you can start to work on the next chapter.
Nice online class👍
Online is so easy. Gives you two weeks to finish a Chapter, that includes Discussions, Assignments, Quizzes, and Tests. Assignments you can do as many times as you can until 100%. Quizzes up to 3 tries. Tests only one shot. The Quizzes have half the amount of questions that are on the test. Lectures are easy and simple, he color codes everything.
Great class, would recommend
straight forward guy
I have taken this class two times and this class was my favorite because the work wasnt overwhelming as long as you give your self time and I felt like I actually learned and enjoyed being in this class.
The professor's explanation video is very clear, and each note is taken in an organized manner. The exam time may be a bit tight, and you need to be proficient to improve your speed.
Differential equations is a very difficult class. His lectures make it very clear as he always takes time to go over the basics first. The tests were very fast, 10-11 difficult questions in only 1 hour 35 minutes. Silly mistakes can really cost you if at the beginning of the question. Free textbook, course reader and homework grader.
He's a great professor. You can definitely tell that he cares about the subject he's teaching. I would recommend paying attention to the examples he points out in class. There's a very good chance they will be on a quiz or test. Do the homework.
Good professor. Exams are questions from the notes, and a cheat sheet is allowed. If you have a chance to take this professor, take it. The only reason I didn't get an A is because I didn't put the time into this class.
Compacted class so a lot of assignments at once. Have to pay for program to do homework, quizes, and tests. Offers extra credit.
Tests and final are what mostly comprise your grade so lots of pressure on those assessments.
Great professor. Exams are questions from the notes, and a cheat sheet is allowed for formulas. Do NOT skip lecture, as the walkthrough of problems in class will prepare you for the most part for exams.
This Professor is one of the better math professors. What you need for a B is to do and understand all the homework. There is a lot of homework like any math class. If you finish all the homework before each test and dedicate some time to studying you will get an A. Work fast and time yourself.
Professor Francis was pretty succinct with his lessons and was easy to follow, and he appreciates when students ask questions to better understand the material so don't be afraid to raise your hand if you're not getting anything. It won't be likely, though, because his lessons are clear and comprehendible. The "lots" of homework isn't long or hard.
Its my 2nd time taking him because he's just so awesome! Very laid back with amazing step by step lectures on everything. he always uploads his notes and lets you use cheat sheets for exams. extremely recommend this class because he actually teaches and doesn't just assign things! he really cares and wants you to pass. take his class!!!!
taking calculus online is a very brave move, but he provided a lot of videos and notes explaining problems. There is some homework but he gives plenty of time to get them done.
Pretty chill guy. Just follow along in class because he explains how to do each example step by step, even the parts that he is not responsible for teaching. Understanding and is welcome to accommodate.
Overall this course felt very fair, Professor Francis explains every concept very well and their origins in detail. Course reader not required but very helpful. Quizzes are taken from the course reader / PDF lecture notes. Only gripe is that some exam questions are taken from deep into the homework which have a steep difficulty spike at times.
Explains material well in detail along with extra information like applications or their origins. Course reader not required but proves useful, PDF of in-class notes provided online. Quiz questions are taken from lecture notes. Homework can have a steep difficulty curve and some exam questions are pulled from said questions- this is my only gripe.
Math is not my favorite subject but this class is very easy to follow. He provides clear note information and lecture videos to follow along. I was taking calculus last semester and dropped it because my previous professor was a terrible teacher. If I needed to retake this class I would because the material made it easier to understand.
The professor does a thorough job of going over the notes in class. He does let you know what to look for on the exams and what material to study.
Explains well and teaches at a level everyone can understand, homework is online and isn't due till the final day, and he provides lots of help.
Tough class with heavy workload. Quizzes, homework, posts, and major tests every 2 weeks. Tests are timed and worth 60% with only one attempt. Watch his video lectures and read the textbook. Clear directions, quick responses, but not for those new to calculus.
Excellent professor I'm very glad with him, I should take a class with him again
Professor Youssef is very helpful and gives plenty of time for students to visit during office hours if any questions arise. Make sure to brush up on basic algebra before starting this class. You have to watch the lectures and understand the material so definitely do the homework and quizzes to be fully ready for the exams. I recommend this class!
Overall the class wasn't too challenging just show up and do the work and you'll be fine for the tests and quizzes! He was also understanding and willing to help whenever you don't understand a concept or are having trouble with anything!
I would highly recommend this professor if you need to take math 120. A lot of work load but he gives us enough time to finish everything.
Homework and lecture notes are all free/online. Francis is very clear about what will be expected on exams. Final is made up of previous exams. Homework is all due at end of semester, but keep up with them. 2-3 problem quizzes made up from lectures. Francis is a really chill professor.
Professor Francis has a very simple and passable course. For his lectures, he takes you through the chapter through examples and explains very clearly. He is pretty interactive and sometimes humorous. Classes are very easygoing and simple, just show up and do the work alongside him. The homework is easy as well. Overall would take again.
This proffesor is to the point. His leactures are really infromative and his explanations are well easy to understand. He dose give a moderate amount of quizzes that usually only have 1 or 2 questions so any mistakes can leave a dent in your grade. His exams are not too hard, overall a great professor.
Mr. Francis is a good teacher that will help you when you need it, he gives everyone the equal opportunity to pass the class being as fair as he can and provides the neccesary tools to succeed in his class, the lectures can be rough at times but the notes are in the modules to go back to review and you can always email him if you have questions.
A Lot of material was covered in this class (Math 253) and Prof Francis focused heavily on solving Differential Equations while skimming through theory and derivation of the formulas. I really appreciated how accessible and accommodating he was outside of class. This class is not for the faint of heart but with Prof Francis help, it was manageable
I enjoyed taking MATH 253 with Prof. Francis. He makes the topics digestible and tries to make them as easy to understand as possible. His main focus is on solving DE problems, not so much on application problems. He will go over them for exposure, but you won't be tested on them. Quizzes were just about weekly, so stay on top of your Homework!
This is a professor that will actually make you start to appreciate math. I've taken multiple classes with him and he makes the content of his courses super digestible. I'd recommend to get the course reader, show up, and do not skip homework if you want to pass. Also consider taking linear algebra before this class, it's not required but it helps.
I loved taking his online class. Very easy class to follow! I would recommend his class. Easy A.
I think Mr.Francis is a really good teacher, I personally learned a lot, he's very understanding, knowledgeable and really nice!
Okay Class,
I took Math 120 online and this class went very smoothy. It's important to stay on top of your work weekly and ask questions if your stuck. The professor it great at responding back to any questions you have and will give you positive feedback. Glad I took this class and would take it again.
Professor Francis is really good at teaching, despite the class being completely online all the lectures provided were really helpful. Navigating the class was easy, the grading criteria and assignments were clear and not difficult to complete. Your grade will be based on your work and how well you understand the material.
Professor Francis was pretty cool. He saved the easiest chapter for last which was a relief since it made it easier to study for the final. You have to make sure you complete his discussions and submit your scratch paper to show your work but he's not very intrusive about it. Overall, just complete your work and you'll get an A or B
Professor had a very clear layout of the material he was going to teach. Was ready to take feedback if he happened to make a small mistake. He was very lenient with missing a test if you let him know, Exams are Open note, and quizzes are normally not. Which was perfect, because mostly the hard part is remembering formulas, or certain procedures.
This Professor is really cool and gives you an opportunity to understand math better.
This professor really cares about helping his students and makes everyone's life easier.
Professor Francis is an excellent teacher. Goes over everything in class, immediately uploads all the material from class afterwards so you can access and study. He tells you what will be on the quizzes and tests and there are no surprises. He's a great professor; I would love to take another class with him.
If you stay on top of your work its an easy class
Professor Francis is a good professor. The only thing I will say is this class has a lot of homework, so keep that in mind.
Took his math 120 online class. Total of 5 modules. Really wasn't that bad. Has great videos / notes that explain the math concepts well. Replies pretty fast to emails, especially during tests when you have technical issues. Has a discussion board for every module as well. Don't use ai, not bc u dont need it in this class but bc he will catch you
Professor Francis has a very clear and structured class. His exam feedback is very valuable and has helped me score higher on tests when it came to formatting my proofs and other written responses. Highly recommend looking at your tests post-grading.
He assigns several homework assignments but gives you plenty of time to complete them. Start them early since they take a while. They're worth a good chunk of your grade. There are biweekly class discussions, which are straightforward. He provides PDFs of handwritten notes. As long as you do the work, it's an easy pass.
This class is an easy pass as long as you do the work. There are several homework assignments, but you are given plenty of time to complete them. There are class discussions and a quiz before every test. He makes you upload pictures of your scratch paper for every test. Deadlines are strict, but aside from that, he's very easy-going.
This class is overall a great class. I took the online class and was able to nicely pace myself to finish my work. The professor gives you plenty of time to do them and all you have to do is manage your time well. There are discussions most of the week and math homework where you can retake it as much as you can.
He is really straightforward with the work given, and honestly couldn't imagine taking this class with any other professor, very clear with his notes, and always calls back to previous classes in case you forget certain math rules.
The class is overall great. I was able to pace myself to getting my work done because he gives you plenty of time to do it. Just like all classes it helps to manage your time to get your work done, there are discussions most of the week and homework where you can retake it.
Very thorough lectures. If you follow the videos provided and his book, you won't have a problem passing the class. He gives you a lot of time to complete the homework, just don't leave it until the due date.
All class work except the final and discussions is done through MyLab Math. Also I believe you get multiple attempts in all tests and quizzes besides the final.
You won't regret picking this professor as he is easy to follow through with on this course.
Highly recommend this professor. Would take again he is very good with lectures and makes math fun
Really Good professor! He gives enough time to finish homework/ quizzes/ tests! Do everything on time and you will pass the class! Get his class!
Thorough lectures with multiple step-by-step examples. Homework deadlines were very manageable.
If think as long as you can do the work you'll be fine, even though the class can be hard at times , make sure to get as much help such as tutoring.
I took this class online, I suck at Calculus but honestly it was really awesome and easy to understand if you just follow along with lectures and watch the videos.
This teacher provided me with a lot of support when I needed it, and made sure I had the resources to complete my work. He was also very understanding about my situations.
The professor was pretty easy going and honestly graded pretty good with the online course, loved taking this class and would recommend this class to anyone who needed it.
The teacher is able to explain the concepts in the proofs well and shows step by step the way to solve said proofs. I found it difficult to retain the information that he showed though.
Professor may add lots of quizzes but lets you use a cheat sheet for all exams which where worth 60% of your grade. meaning that it is easy for you to pass as long as you have good notes and always available to respond to any questions and very flexible with you.
His teaching style was clear and straightforward, and the class felt very manageable. He explained well the material. I would definitely recommend him to other students looking for a smooth and stress-free stats class.
Great professor for online learning. Attends to your needs as this is an online course. Grades are uploaded on time as well.
Very funny, helps understand concepts and provides plenty of resources for further practice/clarification.
Prof. Francis gives great lectures, it is is really hard to fall behind if you're attending class. Takes his time explaining every important concept. Really chill guy.
The class is easy to pass. But the 2 hrs lectures can be a bit dry, all homework is due on the last day of the semester. Stay on top of your homework throughout the semester and use it to study for tests and quizzes, because they're mostly pulled straight from it. It's an easy class, but you still need to put in some time and effort!
Professor Francis is a pretty good election. He is good Professor, he knows how to teach, and he is patient. I truly recommend this course with him. I liked the class, but the only problem was the grading with quizzes and exams, to pass the class you must pass all the exams and quizzes plus homework and assistance is mandatory.
Great Professor and really empathetic, he really cares for his students. Just beware to not waste time in exams as you may not finish in time.
Professor Francis was a great math teacher, all homework was due at the end of the semester. Around 3 big exams but allowed a cheat sheet each one.
I liked this class! Professor Francis was really great and overall laid back. He's very clear on the timeline for the assignments, his expectations, and works alongside the pace of the class. He's very accessible if you have questions and his lectures are entertaining enough. In my opinion the class was easy because he made it so. Great professor!
He knows how to make topics that look intimidating be easily understood. The class was fast paced so a lot of material can be taught in a single session. Exams are doable if you've done the homework and studied. They can be kinda long length wise and won't have much time to spare if you mess up so you'll need to be prepared. Makes the class fun.
Professor Youssef Francis had a very organized class. It is an online course so it does take a lot of your own time management to be able to keep up with the pace of the class and lectures. Quizzes and tests reflect heavily on lecture notes. Francis responds quickly when I had questions and is very kind.
The professor is good and care about the students and the class
Lot's of homework but all due at the end of semester, a few quizzes and some tests, great lectures, very approachable , clear explanations, understanding, patient, math is hard but it helps being in his class.
good class, you just need to put time into it and study for the test
Professor Francis is very clear in his lectures although they can be a bit slow at times. He is very laid back and understanding, especially if you have conflicts for an exam as long as you let him know. All Homework is due at the end of the semester. Cheat sheets were allowed for each of the 3 exams as well as 2 cheat sheets for the final.
Definitely take him if you actually wanna learn the material, you gotta do works ofc but he is super nice and relatable to the students, he might look strict but you gotta be reasonable with him
good teacher super chill
Awesome guy, very considerate.
He give good feedback and tells you what you need to improve. Even thought he allows the use of notes I do recommend to study a lot since this is a math class and you need to remember how to do the proofs and get the answers. Overall great teacher
Super organized course and I liked how self-paced it felt. Discussions and uploading notes is very important because it counts as attendance. Tests and sometimes quizzes every module. The lectures explained the concepts very well. His handwriting can get a little unreadable sometimes but it's fine if you listen. He grades really fast.
Very chill professor.
Really good professor. He explains concepts in a really clear and useful way, and has clearly taken the time to format the course to make it accessible and useful. I would definitely reccommend him if you want to learn the subject.
The class is a bit difficult, but that may be because I took this class during the summer, but I would highly recommend taking Prof Francis. His lectures are very clear and help you learn what you need to know. Some problems from the lectures are on the test and quizzes so I recommend studying them. Definitely would take him again.
Class is made up of youtube videos, do the homework. There's quizzes, tests, and a discussion for every chapter and have to submit notes for everything. The way the class is organized makes it very easy to understand what you have to do in order to succeed. Spend a good amount of time learning to type proofs in canvas because tests are timed.
This class was a bit hard, especially since I took it over the summer. If you are taking other classes, then time management is essential. There is a quiz, a discussion, a test, and notes for every chapter. Homework is not turned but it helps when taking the quiz and tests. Also, watching the YouTube videos helps in understanding the concept.
Well organized and great recorded lectures to go back and review. Expect to have little time for proofs during exams though. Extra credit at the end of the course helps but you must be prepared to quickly type out proofs before going into any of the exams. The professor is also super picky about wording and logic in proofs. Overall a good course.
Very good professor and quick to respond if you send him messages on canvas. Don't cheat he will know if you do the guy is a hawk.
The class is structured well with weekly discussions, quizzes, and tests. If you stay on top of assignments, you'll be fine. Professor is very understanding and has lots of resources to help you stay on track.
Self guided course. Keep track of the modules because they must be done in sequential order so students will have to make sure they're getting the work done. Other than that, the class is graded fairly and even though it is a lot of work, it is necessary for discrete math.
This professor is known for being very strict about grading and rarely reviews exam scores upon request. Even the smallest mistakes can lead to significant point deductions. In particular, for proof-based questions, if you fail to follow every single instruction precisely—no matter how minor—it will result in a loss of points.
Chill asynchronous classes, hw wasn't mandatory, tests took up most of the grade so don't flunk them. Responds fast on weekdays, except i heard from some that he ghosts.. although I don't know what they said for him to ghost, never ghosted me. Would take the class again, I got B because I did all the work last minute.
The professor is very nitpicky with grades, you'll lose points over the smallest errors. Additionally, he doesn't keep up with his canvas and things that are marked as necessary are actually unnecessary? Students were told to buy his material on Canvas, but when emailed he said it was unnecessary but the refund period from the school elapsed.
Professor Francis maintains a welcoming and interactive setting that motivates students to participate and excel. He blends precision, critical reasoning, and engaging discussion to deepen student understanding. The professor was thorough and consistently offered constructive feedback, which helped me refine my work and grow academically.
Tough class but I would say the professor is good, his lectures get to the point and are clear. His grading is tough but makes sense for the class. Would recommend taking this in class rather than asynchronous. Many tests and quizzes which make a huge impact on your grade, so make sure to study hard. I would definitely take this professor again.
He is a good professor, very clear on material and lectures are explained explicitly well. He will answer any questions if needed to and responds swiftly online. The material can get challenging in some parts of the course especially when dealing with proofs, but you will be fine if you study correctly.
I really enjoyed Professor Francis's class. He was extremely understanding and very lenient as well. Definitely have to stay on top of your work so you don't fall behind. Overall, great class and much easier than other online classes.
Course is basically a bunch of weekly Canvas quizzes and discussions. Lectures are YouTube videos created by the instructor covering chapter material. I recommend doing the suggested homework problems in the textbook, as some test questions are not covered in the lecture notes. The difficulty depends on how much time/effort you put into class.
It was really hard and you interactions with him are short.
chill teacher, cant hurt to take this class cuz it's well structured and fair
He is really good! With difficulty in his content of course. But as long as you stay on track, he is very reasonable and you will learn a lot. Sometimes it can seem like a grind if you don't schedule your work properly, but I would most definitely take the class again with him if I needed to.
Definitely better than SDSU's discrete department. Make sure to email him through Canvas and not Gmail if you want a fast response. Tests at the end of each chapter, 7 in total. His lectures suffice for most of the class content, and homework is optional (but recommended). Definitely expect to work hard in this class; it will pay off.
This professor is really good at teaching and is understanding. I misspelled my negative number answer into a positive one because I didn't have time and I left a comment about it and he gave me the points for it. As long as you are engaging with him, he will engage with you. He is a pretty good professor and I will honestly take him again.
He has straightforward and clear lecture videos, but deadlines were sometimes inconsistent. Tough class overall, you have to put a lot of time in if you want a good grade.
He was clear in lectures and has a very linear teaching style, deadlines were inconsistent and an overall test heavy course.
I had to take his class twice as I didn't do well my first time around. My second attempt at the class, I only read from the textbook and, in my opinion, I did much better than I did watching the lectures. My advice would be to read the textbook for the information then watch a few video lectures as he goes in depth on how to solve proofs in them.
This particular class is really fast paced but just stay on top of it and know your definitions and youll be fine.
The professor did very good with the videos and with discussion questions in order to pose deeper thought. Any other questions on tests and things like that seemed respected and welcomed.
Did extremely well to ensure knowledge was passed and did well to make sure that the tests were understood.
Did very good at confirming that the information got passed and that the tests were understood.
