AMAZING Professor! HIGHLY recommended! I was dreading this class just because I thought it would not be insteresting but I was completely wrong. I appreciate the presentations as they were really fun and it kept me engaged in the class. He is crystal clear on what he expects for the exam and assignments so do yourself a favor and take his class!

Lectures are great BUT tests are what make or break your final grade. He welcomes questions. Not much homework BUT lots of reading if you want a good grade. 4 Multiple chapter exams and 1 final. Exams are multiple choice, short written answer questions, & detailed essay questions. Tests are tough and tricky. Professor Houghton tests are easier :)

Exams are tough but doable if you study your butt off. About half my class dropped out halfway through. I study my butt off to maintain my "B".

Biology is a difficult subject alone. Requires attention to detail and study time outside of class. Harfouche is a, overall, good professor although he is emotional at times. His exams are challenging. Only way to pass is to study and then study some more. There are no short cuts to his class. All test questions come from the book.

Youssef isn't an easy grader but definitely is a fair one. I got a solid B in his class without studying but it was a hybrid class so half of the time I could google the answer. I had fun in his class and I did learn a lot but not sure if I learned enough as a natural science major. He's a great guy though and is really eager to answer questions.

Best professor I have ever had! I wish I could put him in my pocket and carry him to all my science classes (in a none creepy way) you don't need the book, he gives you all the material you need. He really cares about his students succeeding. I took the 5 week winter session and I am actually going to miss his classes he is so funny!

YOU DON'T NEED THE BOOK, however it helps if you want extra help. Uses real life scenarios to help you understand better, take lots of notes, provides you with test study guides, "what you see is what you get" on tests.

Awesome instructor! Likes to involve everyone and always makes sure to ask if anyone has any questions. Not an intimidating professor at all, so I was never afraid to ask him to go over something in class. Tests are not too hard, but they aren't easy either. Just take notes on the slides in class and you will find it all on the exams.

One of the best professors at LAVC. If you aren't into science or have a hard time grasping and understanding this kind of material , professor Harfouche IS THE PROFESSOR FOR YOU! Lectures were amazing and he explained everything so well and he is passionate about the subject and cares about his students so much ! If I could take him again I would.

Best biology professor on campus! I generally hated science before taking his course but he made it enjoyable and really took his time to explain concepts/answer any questions we may have had. His course really isn't all that hard if you pay attention in lectures and utilize the study questions he provides.

He's a really good professor. Makes lectures interesting and funny. lectures & guides on canvas. I highly recommend him but just be prepared to read. 4 midterms for 100 each ,1 final and lab quizzes every week. but he gives study guide before every midterm and lab quizzes. you actually learn a lot from him. He's the one made me think of bio major.

Prof. Harfouche is an asset at LAVC. If you have the chance take him. His classes are always full, only idiots would drop his class. It is not an easy A class in general regardless of who u take it with, but he makes it fun and you actually learn a lot, not just study. Highly recommended.

Yourself is definitely the Professor you HAVE to take. He is absolutely hilarious and his lectures are easy to understand. He will make you understand the material! Professor Harfouche is the best! Took him Monday/ Wednesday 8:00 am lecture, but once I got to class I'd forget it was an 8:00 am class. He made learning fun! Not an easy A, you will have to work for it. There are lab quizzes every week but he'll guide you through what will be on both the quizzes and exams. Be on time, do the work, and you'll be ok

He is very funny and sarcastic, sometimes seems as if doesn't care, but he has explained that its mostly because it's an 8 am class, yet he still has more energy than the students. Rejoices in being "evil", but is actually not. Truly awesome! You'll have a good time while you learn. Will definitely miss!

I took his class in summer session, and we completed 15 weeks of material in 5 weeks. But I am sad because I do not want this class to be over, This class is so much fun, and he is by far the best Bio teacher LAVC have. He is super young and talented, relates lectures with real life examples, and encourage you to ask questions. I would recommend.

Whatever he would say the day before the exam will be in the exam. HE DOES NOT LIE ABOUT IT. No suprises. You just need to study and take his class seriously. His lectures are amazing. I have never had this much fun taking a class like I did with this professor! Am dead serious guys, he always takes the time to present the lay explanation to everything before he starts with the biological terminologies. He doesnt mind at all when you ask the same question or ask a lot and he encourages you to ask. Of course you have to study and put your time into this class.

I had this course during COVID 19, but the little time I did have person to person in this course was great. He's very humorous and makes lectures easy to understand. I hated Bio since middle school and he made me love it. You have to be on top of it and work for your grade. He's always there to help too so take advantage of it. Highly recommend.

Kind, funny, relatable, gives great life advice. If you think you're about to go into his class and act like clown you will get roasted. Lab Quizzes every week. Must be on time for quiz. 15 min long, come in 10 min late you have 5 min to take the quiz. Does Exam Review but you need HAVE TO STUDY TOO! He helps you out a lot so do your part too.

This class is a lot of work but it's a science class so that was expected. Prof. Harfouche is great and very approachable. He always asks if we have questions and cares about his student's success. I learned so much in the class. This class was online and he offered a lot of good ideas on how to study and how to prepare for exams.

There are lab reports for every lecture. As long as you take thorough notes during lectures and have lecture slides open for each respective assignment/exam, you will easily pass. There are 5 exams with extra credit available.

Biology was a topic I was scared of before taking this class. It is easy to pass if you actually take time out of your day to do notes and understand the concepts. You wont pass by doing nothing, but I would say out of any biology class this professors class would probably be the least stressful. JUST DEDICATE TIME TO THE CLASS.

Took as a pre-req for PA school. The material is tough, all independent work. Prof. H does post his lectures weekly but you gotta do the textbook readings and youtube videos to understand the material. It was a hard class, but Prof. H was very nice and lenient, he wanted us to succeed. Take online if ur an independent learner, idk about in-person

Genetics is hard. There is a lot of statistics involved first part of the class, then it is all conceptual. Harfouche is super nice and very helpful. You definately have to do a lot of studying for this class, more than cell and molecular biology. I am happy I took genetics with H, but happy the class is over. STUDY!! READ!! Use your notes!! DO HW

Funny guy! Super smart in this field! Loves to teach. Book is not used a lot but you could get it if you want; lectures cover things just PAY ATTENTION. Cool dude and I learned a lot from the class. There's a quiz every week, a lab, and exams every two or three weeks about. I procrastinated a lot but I don't recommend that lol

I had an online asynchronous class with him and honestly he's my favorite professor this semester. He gives great feedback, is always ready to help his students and has the most entertaining lectures. Honestly if it wasn't for him I wouldn't have enjoyed this class as much or learned anything. I wish I could take another class with him.

Amazing.There is alot of work, it is a very heavy class. Quiz every week of lab based on info we did in week priors lab. Lectures were all online, a bit hard to understand. All exams were on the lectures. BE PREPARED TO STUDY! made lab super fun, he was very involved with the students and made it very easy. Def would take again, attendence MATTERS.

I enjoyed his class over the spring semester! He always interacted with students and obviously enjoyed teaching. Was always extremely approachable for questions and even asked what he can do to make his class better at the end of the semester. His lectures were always informative, and he allows cheat sheets for the exams. Lab manuals are required.

A great teacher who wants his students to learn and test well. Took his Bio 003 class as an online course,so lots of assignments, but I came away learning lots and would 100% recommend him to future students. Our online class met in person once a week for Lab hours, and there's a quiz at the start of each lab on what was covered the previous week.

Took his online class, with in-person labs: great class and instructor. Quizes each week on the lab before, 4 exams, plus a final. He always put the week's assignments up on Sunday for a Friday due date, welcomed questions, and was available online and in person for office hours. I'd happily take another course from him.

Awesome professor. He is nice and engaging. He really seems to care for students. The was my first Biology class as a Biology major and he really encouraged me. I wish he taught Bio 6 and 7 so I could take him again. I highly recommend this class!

Couldn't have been happier taking Professor Harfouche's course this year. I spent a lot of time away from school, yet he made it very easy to get back in. Allows an index card for every exam, weekly quizzes during lab, one extra credit assignment opportunity, and if you're respectful towards him, he's respectful towards you.

His online class includes one lecture per week, followed by labs and other assignments. Expect one lab quiz and 3-5 assignments from his class each week. There are four exams total. The quizzes and exams are proctored. You can only view your exam and quiz scores during office hours. Overall, as long as you participate, he is a pleasant professor.
