very easy show up and get a lot of extra credit easily got over 100 percent
She is one of the best teachers that i have had. I didn't have to buy a book because she would give us her powerpoints! everyday that you come to class you get a chance for extra credit!! she really care about all her students and wants them to all pass with A's. You just have to learn from the powerpoints that she gives you and you'll do great.
She is a very helpful and really good teacher. I got straight A's in her class because of her help and the extra-credit she used to give. She has the ability to bring every student to the same page and is able to work her way through every problem. Her lab are the best as she helps a lot. She even gives a guide study before any exams she takes.
Dr. Peng is an awesome Biology professor! She really cares about her students understanding the material and tries to make it easy to understand. Seriously great!!
Easy cake, good teacher, but if you really want to learn it's only up to you.
awesome awesome teacher! totally recommend her. just show up in every class and labs u will easily get an "A"
If you can get past her heavy accent, she really is an easy teacher. She gives out tons of extra credit and biology is not a strong suit. No reason you can't pass her class, plus she curves.
Never got anything higher than a C in any science class ever.. that is until now, 5 weeks left in the semester, i easily have over 100% super nice lady really wants everyone to like her. tons of extra credit. quizes are 30 questions only 25 count and exams are 60 questions only 50 count, just come to class and study you'll do good
Peng, is an alright teacher! If you want to learn, you have to take the time to teach it to yourself! She's good teacher, dont get me wrong, she knows what activities to bring to help you understand. But if you really wanna learn, you have to teach the lecture part yourself I got an A because I studied. Most people dont, and that wont get you far.
Dr Peng is a very kind, helpful and considerate person. As long as you carefully focus on her lectures and seriously review the powerpoints she give you one to two times before any exams and quizzes, you'll do well without seeing textbook. Awesome!
Dun buy the book! Jus go thru her powerpoint. She gives you a lotta extra credits. BUT one thing is her accent sucks. She's very easy going tho :)
If you want to learn, dont take her. Because it's gonna be harder on yourself in Bio 2. Unless you teach the lessons by yourself. Also, Peng is not easy as everyone says. With our class - she got even stricter than ever. Most likely next class is going to be hard for others.
Peng used to be an easy teacher, up until she started noticing how people took advantage of her. With her accent its really hard to understand, you are teaching the lessons by yourself - which is gonna be even harder. In all honesty, I would take someone else who can be clear in his/her teachings. That way you have a better chance of getting a B. B
She does have a heavy accent. But, she does her best to make sure every student understand her lectures & are getting a good grade! She gives loads of extra credits! Tests are based off of her lectures! Very good teacher! If you wanna get an A, she'll try her best to give you one if you work hard & do well on your tests.
She's not as easy as I expected from other reviews. She gave a short quiz at the end of each lecture. Awesome approach - sometimes I felt like I totally understood while listening, but when I got a question about it, it pointed out to me what I didn't know. And I didn't have to lose major test points over it. Very cheerful & dedicated. Take her!
Dr. Peng is one of the best professors I've had. She truly cares about her students and is easy to follow. She is a very nice and knowledgeable professor.
THE NICEST. after each lecture she gives at least 2 or 3 extra credit questions that EVERYONE has to answer and turn in(this helps ALOT towards final grade) she sends everyone the lecture through powerpoint incase you miss class. TEXTBOOK NOT NEEDED. she has a very heavy accent. EASIEST "A" EVER IN BIO. EXAMS&QUIZES R ALL ON POWERPOINT. TAKE HER!
Dr. Peng is truly a wonderful Professor. She is very nice and knowledgeable. Her lectures are very clear and good explanations. She is one of my best professors I have had. She truly cares her students all the time. I really enjoy her teaching and her classes. I appreciate her very much.
It can be hard to understand her because of her accent, but she's very knowledgeable and friendly. She emails class powerpoints to you in advance, so you can save a ton of money by not buying the textbook.
One of the nicest teachers that I have came across so far. Hard to understand at times, but she always will make sure everyone understands before moving ahead. I would definitely recommend her.
She's super nice but her lectures are boring and her accent makes her harder to understand. The tests are easy and she emails you the powerpoints but don't expect to learn anything. Also, a tip: the lab keys are all online.
One of the best teachers I have had. She really cares about all her students and knows how to teach her class. But you need to learn and to review her PowerPoint. Excellent job!
Great! The class is easy and fun. Dr. Peng is an excellent teacher. I really enjoying in her class in COD. She is always willing to help anytime when you have a question about the course stuff. It seems to me like she is one of those teachers that does not want anyone to do bad in her class.
She is the best teacher and is very Knowledgeable and helpful. The life science course itself is not so easy, but Dr. Peng definitely makes it enjoyable with numerous examples from your daily life!
Dr. Peng is completely focused on helping her students understand Biology. She is a terrific educator and caring person. Thank you COD for hiring her! I had NO problem with her accent - just listen closely, she makes herself perfectly clear.
Dr peng is pretty easy gives study guide and tons of extra credit. No book required. It's kind of difficult to understand her. She's very nice but I don't feel I learned much. Def easy A. I would recommend for non biology major. Didn't retain much from her class
Dr. Peng is a really nice person. She really wants everyone to pass her class. You get tons of extra credit. I really liked her class. People say its really hard to understand her, but I understood her perfectly fine. If you get a chance I think you should take her. If you are willing to try in her class you will do amazing.
Her accent is thick but give her a chance, you'll get used to it after a couple classes. She's really nice and wants her students to do well. Tons of extra credit. Attendance helps your grade. The book isn't necessary since she lectures from powerpoint slides. Easy A if you attend class and review your notes a bit.
easy class. nice person. tons of extra credits. willing to help you at any time. but boring lecture. if you want an easy a. you should definitely take her class.
I read this before enrolling and I have to say I thought she'd be MUCH easier than she is. Her accent is difficult to understand, tho she tries hard, and when someone tried to say they were having difficulty it was like she didn't hear them. It's confusing in this class, not at all the easy class others have been saying it is. Nice teacher tho.
This is hard because she's nice and wants students to succeed. But her accent is VERY thick which makes understanding Bio terms very difficult. She also goes very fast through lectures. Also there is more chem and math than I expected. This should have that as a prereq. It does not. If you are strong in those, take her.
Undoubtedly thick accent.BUT DON'T LET THAT COME IN THE WAY OF TAKING THE CLASS. people aiming to get A should take her. For people who want to learn a lot n don't worry about grades much, you can consider her. Very helpful. Easy A for me. Never opened the text. Her notes rocked. Extra credit opportunity.lectures n quizzes. No homewOrk! Loved her
Bad news is she has a thick accent. Good news is she emails chapter summaries in powerpoints to all students and does her best going over it in class. everything on tests and quizzes is derived strictly from powerpoints. really good teacher overall. if she sees you making an effort, she'll make twice the effort to help you. Attendance helps you.
Really enjoying her teaching!!!
Her lectures were crystal clear, everything on the test can be found in her powerpoints she teaches in class. Very well articulated, and she is more than happy to help students, as long as they have good attendance. I got an A in the class only because she was the easiest professor to learn from
Initially I was skeptical as I had trouble understanding Dr. Peng, but once I became accustomed to her accent, the class became easier for me. It also helped that Dr. Peng was incredibly helpful.as long as you showed her the proper respect she deserves. Essentially, treat her how you would treat any other doctor and you'll have a good relationship.
She is an excellent tracher and are always available to help us. I don't think someone in this class had a good grade due as they did not often show up. But if you regularly go to the class you easily get the a score.
4 exams, 1 final, 2 labs, 4-5 quizzes. Good professor who is more caring about her students then they are of her. her writing on the board is hard to read. NEVER skip class and you'll do fine if you at least study 15mins before each quiz and 30mins before an exam. Final is cumulative. KEEP ALL OLD QUIZZES AND EXAMS. the final is from those. ;)
She is super helpful to all of her students as long as you are courteous and show up for class. Labs are pretty easy and the quizzes and exams are all from her powerpoints you don't need the book at all. I highly suggest taking her.
Dr. Peng is a great and very experienced professor. Go to class and print out her PPTs and you will get an A. She is very fair and very helpful.
A great professor!!!
Lots of examples provided during the classes, which are great for us understanding of the topics. A very nice instructor.
Lectures are just power points. Attendance is 100 points so even if its boring lectures just go to class. Also, she checks attendance by giving two extra credit questions at the end of every class. You don't even need the book and honestly you don't need the lab book either because she only checks one persons lab book out of your group of 4.
A helpful professor
I don't get how Dr. Peng received so many great reviews, but as one of the other students commented, she changed. She is hard to understand due to her thick accent. She gets easily frustrated with students asking for a better explanation. When asked a question about one of her slides, she doesn't answer adequately. Does not stick to syllabus.
GIVE HER A CHANCE- after one FULL week you get used to her accent. But i'll be honest, the first week I had no clue what she was saying, not even the slightest, her accent is that thick. IF YOU RESPECT HER SHE WILL RESPECT YOU, and LOTS OF EXTRA CREDIT GALORE. Currently I have over 100% in the class. If you study, mixed with EC you'll get an A+
If you're an average student don't take this class if you don't plan on showing up. Attendance and extra credit will save you if you're not doing well. Her lectures are power points she emails out. Quizes are HARD but she hands back the answers to study for the tests. She is very hard to understand and doesn't explain that well. Dont buy books!
Dr. Peng, nice teacher but hard to understand due to her thick accent. You will eventually understand her as the class progresses. Attendance is not mandatory but recommended as there are 240 points for attendance. there is extra credit at the end of each lecture and on the test and quizzes. over all easy A If you Show up and do well on the tests.
Dr. Peng is a nice teacher who is really helpful. She is very difficult to understand due to her thick accent. She gives a lot of extra credit so it should be an easy A.
Dr. Peng is a wonderful and really a nice instructor. She is amazing. Thank you for teaching biology courses in college of DuPage.
Dr. Peng was honestly one of the kindest teachers I've ever met. I definitely recommend her and would take her again if I could in the future. She wants her students to succeed in her course and gives a lot of extra credit and gives attendance points. She's willing to help her students in anyway she can. Thank you :)
Dr Peng is an amazing professor! She wants everyone to succeed so, she tries her best to assist all her students. She teaches from power points and lectures and gives quizzes and exams. Her labs are group organized and very easy to do. Show up do the work be sure to pay attention to the lectures and take plenty of notes and study hard.
Professor Peng is incredibly generous when it comes to extra credit but she is also objective. Quizzes and tests are easy as long as you attend lectures (very important) and study. She is informative and gives you all the necessary tools to succeed in her class and then some. It's an easy A but be prepared to work. My grade reflects my effort.
Dr. Peng is there if you need her. She is understanding and helpful. Her class is tough but if you study hard and challenge yourself, it is very rewarding. I would take another class with her. Her accent is difficult to understand at first but you get used to it. She gives plenty of EC which helps A LOT. DON'T buy the book, all you need are her PPs
Dr. Peng is one of the most poise professors I've ever had. I had a tough semester with some family issues and she was there fore me and understood me completely. She gives out a lot of extra credit; attendance credit, lab attendance, & a chance to receive 2 extra points every class when you answer 2 Questions correctly. TAKE HER!
She really wants her students to succeed and really cares about them. She offers a lot of extra credit and made biology fun and easy for me. She does have a thick accent but you'll get used to it. We never used the textbook, only her Powerpoints so don't bother buying the textbook. I never got the textbook and I did fine. Take her if you can!
Dr. Peng is one of the most caring and focused teachers I have ever experienced. Her accent is a bit hard to understand at first but by the second week it is much easier. Dr. Peng really wants her students to understand the material and do well. Tests and quizzes are easy if you pay attention during lectures! I learned a lot in this class!
This teacher is absolutely lovely. Cares so much for the success of her student also responds to emails quickly and will meet you before class if your confused about any material. As long as you show up to class and pay attention you should have no problem getting an A in her class. I would recommend her to every student.
Dr Peng is an amazing teacher that cares for her students. As long as you show up to class and pay attention and participate in labs you should have no problem passing her class. Will go out of her way for you to understand the lecture she's instructing. I recommend taking her class!!
Good teacher
I'm terrible at science, and if it weren't for this teacher, I wouldn't have passed. You are only graded on quizzes and tests, so if you are bad at that, take her. She gives a good amount of extra credit and it'll boost your grade! Only difficulty is her accent. Because she is foreign, it is harder to get your point across while talking to her.
Great class, great teacher. She gave so much extra credit it boosts your grade up by one letter. You will get a grade higher than you deserve in this class. Very thick accent however and very hard to understand.
Her accent is hard to understand, but if you listen hard you'll understand what she's talking about. She grades us on 5 quizzes, 2 lab exams, 2 exams, the final, and attendance. You MUST show up to class everyday if you want to do well because the constant extra credit she gives and attendance points will boost your grade up one letter in the end.
She's from China so she does have an accent. She loves giving extra credit and wants everyone to get an A. She makes sure questions are easy. If you aren't paying attention to the lecture she will call on you to answer a question. She goes through lectures quickly so I would suggest pulling up the ppt on a laptop to follow along. She's not THAT bad
Dr. Peng really wants you to succeed, it's really hard not to. There is SO MUCH extra credit offered in her class. She moves pretty fast through her lectures but posts them all on blackboard so i'd pull them up during class to follow along. Don't bother with the textbook, the lab book and PPT's are all you need. A really kind person.
Dr. Peng was excellent at explaining concepts and definitions in BIO1151. There's a lot of opportunities for extra credit. Study guides are given before exams and quizzes and she's always there to answer any questions thoroughly. The only downside to her lectures is her accent, but you can catch on to what she says when she connects concepts.
she has a bit of an accent, but honestly she was an amazing teacher, I've never had such a nice teacher in my entire life. No seriously, I haven't, she's that nice. I would definitely suggest this teacher. Anyone who gives her a bad review just doesn't really pay attention to her lectures and how much a nice person she is.
Dr. Peng is an amazing teacher. She really cares about her students and her job. Dr. Peng tries very hard to get through all of the material and she gives plenty of room to boost your grade. Overall, she is one of the best teachers I have had during my time at College of Dupage.
A good teacher with some accent. Overall she is nice.
This professor is very disorganized and lectures are very fast. There is a language barrier which makes learning a lot more difficult. Offers study guides, but are not grammatically correct, or does not reflect actual test. Reads off powerpoints and cannot clarify. Does not read over test questions. 5 Quizzes, 3 Tests, and 1 HW. Not recommended.
One of the most amazing professors I've had at any school I've attended. She's a wonderful person. Her lectures were very interesting and she did a great job of explaining difficult concepts. As long as you read the textbook and attend class you'll pass. Make sure you go to class because she gives lots of extra credit. Highly recommend her.
Peng is one of the nicest professors but I found myself teaching the lessons to myself because she has a very thick accent. Her exams are extremely rough but the extra credit helps. She usually offers 25pts extra on exams and 5pts extra on quizzes. I recommend her if you are willing to teach yourself.
Dr. Peng is a very nice and caring teacher that happens to be teaching a difficult course. Her accent can be tricky to understand during the lectures and labs so make sure to study powerpoints and take good notes. Tests, lab exams and quizzes are challenging but she offeres lots of extra credit to help your grade! Also, having a study group helps!
5 quizzes, 5 tests. Questions from quizzes are the same on the test or are just reworded. so, the quizzes are harder than tests. The labs are cool because we get to work with other people and I actually learned a lot thru them. We have 2 lab exams that you get to use your notes on. TAKE NOTES AS YOU ARE DOING LABS. lots of extra credit. thic accent
Dr. Peng is an excellent professor at this school. She have full knowledge on this scientific field. If you attend the class regularly you will pass the exams for sure. She is so nice to everyone.
If you want to take BIO 1151, I recommend you join Dr. Peng's class. She is the best professor I have met at COD for my two-year studying here. Yes, she has accent, but it does not affect your learning if you attend the classes and listen to her. She explain the topics very clearly.
Prof Peng is by far one of the nicest professors I've had, she goes out of her way to ensure students get as many points as they can. The class is littered with extra credits points on every quiz, test, and just class day. She does have a thick accent, and her lectures are a bit long, but overall would definitely recommend.
Nice enough human but horrifying prof. She is barely understandable in English but 95% of her lecture is reading off slides. You will NEVER get an answer out of her that expands on a concept. EVER. She assumes you're asking about X and can't listen to you explain the difference you're trying to understand. Says you only need lecture but NOT TRUE
over all has a heart of gold. But, her teaching abilities could use some work. For instance when we did our labs she wouldn't even explain the lab or help us when we needed it. Also, she is too heavy on the tests.
Professor Pengs class was a very interesting experience compared to most. English is not her first language, which does lead to some confusion during lectures and test questions. Other than that she is extremely nice, and really tries her best to help students succeed. If you put in the effort you should be able to get an A in this class.
Professor Peng is a nice person but not a good teacher. English isn't her first language but it makes it extremely hard to learn especially since she only goes off powerpoints. She makes everything a lot harder than it needs to be, but gives a ton of extra credit.
She is an amazing bio professor. I have learned so much from her. If she taught any other science related classes, I would definitely take her classes over and over again. She is very straight forward. Come to class, take notes, ask questions and do the work. I would recommend her over and over if I could.
I thought her class was great! She is a very caring person and there are plenty of opportunities for extra credit. Do the work and it should be no problem to get an A!
immediately no. this class is WORK. its labs, lectures, quizzes, and exams. EVERY WEEK. i would spend a good 3 hours taking notes, then doing the Top Hat assignments, then the lab, then the quiz. she does respond to her emails, and will remind you to turn in ur stuff, but let's be real, that will NOT save this class. do yourself a favor, AVOID!
Dr. Peng is an excellent bio teacher at COD. I would like to take her courses and suggest all of you to take her classes. She takes care about the students and help you to figure out the questions and difficulties you meet in the studied subjects.
Very kind and helpful when my cousin passed unexpectedly and I shut down. She allowed me a week to make up work, which helped me so much. She is such a wonderful lady and she is one of the best professors I have ever had! Coursework is easy as well and I recommend!!
She has a very huge accent which made class 1000 times harder. each week we had a quiz we can take 3 times. each three chapters we had a exam we had to have top hat and a book and simUtext. overall her class was okay.
I loved Dr. Peng's online class! HW assigned Monday and due Sunday by 11:59. Quick to return emails. Extra credit. Write down all the questions/answers when you take the quizzes (which you can take up to 3x) because those are the same questions on the tests and you can easily get an A/ B in the class. I felt Dr. Peng wanted everyone to succeed.
Dr. Peng is amazing! I took her class this semester and she made the class very easy. I was able to schedule zoom meetings with her when I needed help on the assignments. She also offers extra credit every week which is awesome. If I had to take her class again I would take it in a heartbeat!
