There are few assignments given. The only real assignments are a midterm and final paper. The class itself is very interesting too.

loved her class! felt like high school
nice teacher
The class is interesting and fun. It is done in power point format. She makes the class interesting because she brings out the political history of the country. I would recommend her.
She is so helpful and nice. All my emails were replied and she is easy to talk to. This class was very interesting and at times i enjoyed going.

She seems cool and her quizzes are easy. She's cute, but watch out for the readings, they're boring and just busy work, but you have to do them because you'll be tested on them.
Very nice and a great source of Japanese knowlege.
Easy material, very helpful – BUT attendance is MANDATORY. If you miss just 1 class (unexcused) your final grade goes down by a letter, 2 missed classes: you fail, no joke! Lots of notes you NEVER use, 2 EASY quizzes, take home final & midterm
I've had her for multiple classes. She's an amazing professor and really knows her stuff. DEFINITLY take her classes. She really likes having students do presentations and things, but its not too difficult, and she will pretty much walk you thru it. A+
If you are taking her Japanese class file petition for IP credit (it is not an IP class!!). I filed and it was approved, so you cover 2 credits at same time (rel & ip). She is awsome, easy, only presentation is pain (4 mins I think). Take home mid/final!!
nice teacher
She's an easy grader, but it takes her forever to get things back to you and you never know your grade in the class. She is very knowledgeable about the subjects she teaches and encourages students to participate in class.
Great teacher, very clear and precise; Depaul needs more teachers like this! Very helpful and interactive with class discussions, comes to class everyday prepared with a power-point presentation which corresponds with the reading.
Got a B on the first quiz, got a B- on the second quiz, got a B- on the first major paper, and got an A- in the course...alriiiighttt. Attendence was mandatory, for EVERY class, no exceptions. Dont take notes, cause you dont use em, and if you like asians, shes your woman ;)
Very easy grader and nice person. Enjoys creativity in the presentations. Study a bit for the 2 quizes and use a few sources for your papers and you'll do fine. She is pretty hot if you need one more reason to come to class.
Japan rocks! Yuki's lectures are rich with interesting stories, history, fun facts, etc. She's also really nice and helpful. All you have to do is come to class and take GOOD notes. Some reading was involved, but I only did for the final project, which was kind of fun too, but I just picked a good 1
she was so helpful and she's sooo nice... i can't wait to take another one of her classes and just as a side note.. she's really hot!
Yuki was awesome! This was one of the few classes at depaul that I did well in while actually learning and loving the class ALL AT THE SAME TIME. She is such a sweet heart. She told us exactly what we needed to know. I would love to talk another class with her anytime!
She is really cool. She is pretty easy, all you have to do is your work. You don't need to read any of the books to do well in her class.
She was a great teacher, but you must attend the class or at least e-mail to let her know you will be absent, she will be furious! Very helpful though and as sweet as can be. A+
very easy and interesting class. learn a lot. very leniant. shes hot.
Easy Teacher, gies a lot of reading but you don't have to read**** as long as you take notes. EASY GRADER....I neevr read a damn thing and I got an A.
Yuki is a great professor. She's clearly enthusiastic about religion and teaching, her classes are well prepared, interesting, and have a nice amount of discussion. She's friendly, always cheery, and beautiful. Take her class.
I took this class to fulfill a requirement, but its my most interesting class now! She's an awesome teacher- well prepared for every class, helpful, enthusiastic and can easily relate to students. The class is about the student's input so it doesn't drag! Take good notes&participate, u'll do great!
very hot, very nice, great teacher
fun class no accent, easy materials
Easiest class I took at DePaul. She gives a lot of reading, but I didnt read a damn thing and still got an A. Take home midterm and take home final, and only 2 quizes in class for which I studied like 30 minutes and got a B's on both of them. Take her if you want to get an A.
Class goes through quite a bit of material. A bit of required reading, but it's not absolutely essential to the class- helps a on papers though. Two fairly easy quizzes, two take home essays, and a strict attendance policy. Class discussions and Power Points best part of lecture. Highly recommended!
Prof. Miyamoto is awesome. I enjoyed her class, and would recommend it to anyone who is seriously interested in philosophy. I really hope to have future classes with her.
She's very helpful and understanding. Attendance is strict, but tardiness is fine. Shes so nice you dont want to miss class. 2 quizes, take home midterm and paper, group project, easy grader, you'll get a B with minimal work
I would take this class just to hear her beautiful accent. She is so angelic and sweet. She goes over things repeatedly so everything is very clear and she wants you to learn.
HOT! This is the first teacher that actually made me want to learn. I actually took notes in this class and there was no reason to! All i gotta say is take her, no matter what class it is! JUST TAKE HER! SHES THE BEST!
all the above, and she not boring
One of the best Rel teachers. Very easy, but you should go to the class and take notes. 2 very easy quizes and take home mid term and final papers. Over all Great Prof.
Easy prof., tries to be an airhead sometimes for comedic relief, which works. Highly recommend her religious class if you don't want to learn about religion.
She is a great professor, very nice, very clear, and very helpful. Makes class interesting and the assignments are very easy.
Dr. Miyamoto is so nice..and her class is very easy. As long as you attend every class it's an easy A (she drops your final grade a whole letter if you miss one class, but is understanding if you are sick). Take home mid-term and final, two short quizzes, and one group project. Also, she is very open to your opinion
What an awesome personality. She taught well, and let the students deabte on subjects given by her. Very fair grading too.
Unbelivably easy. Interesting class, no tests or quizzes but you cant miss a class. very strict on attendance but def. take for a REL
cool class. i think 3 pop quiz? and 3 short book report (easy as heck). the debate was fun. final paper (5-6 pages) is not so bad. attence is madatory. do not miss a class without an escuse! she is very sweet.
CAKE. Attendance is the only sticker, don't miss any. Subject seemed more historical and philosophical than religious, which was fine with me. 2 quizzes, 3 short book reports, group debate, and final paper. Dr. Miyamoto was helpful, an easy grader, and easy on the eyes. I recommend taking this course for a religious requirement if nothing else.
She is one of the nicest professors at DePaul. She really made me become interested in the topic. The class was easy with small quizzez, debate and one paper. I highly recommend taking her.
Interesting subject matter, great prof, easy A. Great way to dodge the religion req. I don't think I hear the word "God" more than 5 times all quarter. Yuki is the best. A must-take class.
Professor Miyamoto is a sweet woman and a great teacher. Her attendence policy is very strict, so if you don't like going to class I wouldn't suggest taking her. Yet she makes class interesting. You don't get a lot of homework, I hardly did the readings and still got an A. One of the best professors at DePaul
Really nice teacher, easy assignments and she really makes sure to emphasis her class notes. Attendance policy is strict, but is understanding if you miss a class or two, but e-mail her telling her why.
Her native tongue is clearly japanese-she has a thick accent, but it's comprehensible compared to other non native english speaking profs ive had. The course I took with her on the atomic bombing of japan was of personal and familial significance. It made what she said on that topic that much more authoritative. she's also really hot.
2 review papers, a final paper and an easy presentation, and participation. She is an easy grader but attendance is important. Class was interesting and she enjoys people who participate. If your looking for an easy A and willing to go to class, this is the class for you
She is BEYOND the best teacher at Depaul...final and midterm take home the easiest grader...and she gave us quizzes but she tells you the answer before the quiz it's only 5 question too, and you only take it twice the whole quarter...Take this class and you'll get an A for everything...she's funny too... Participate or sleep she's just awesome. :)
yuki is the best teacher at depaul. she is a very good teacher and her assigments are not hard because she is very helpful. i recommend this class to anyone who wants to learn and get a good grade.
Too much reading...
she is very nice and really gets into class discussion. one presentation/two to three papers. she is pretty easy. a little boring during class but easy.. hard attendance policy though so if you dont like coming to class ..dont take her.
Yuki is a very sweet intelligent woman. Though class tends to drag on, she knows what she is talking about & she is a very fair grader. She always comes to class with every intention of sharing interesting material and willing to answer any & all questions. Attendance policy is very strict so missing 1 class w/o good excuse can affect your grade.
her accent is funny when she uses broken up english or struggles to find the right words. atomic bomb stuff is interesting and she has a lot of info. to provide. there's a powerpoint presentation that sucks to do, but she's cool about it. lots of reading but easy class/papers. worth taking
Ms. Miyamoto is an excellent teacher, great discussions. She is also knowledgable and open to different points of view. I really enjoyed the class.
Prof. Miyamota is an extremely easy teacher. Class is centered around good discussions and her assignments, papers, and quizzes are very simple. I definately recommend this class for an easy A/B.
Yuki is an awesome teacher...open to everyones point of view. Is not a hard grader...guarenteed A/B if you come to all the classes!
Attendance policy is more than ridiculous.I was bored in the class. There was a lot of reading material to be done, however, I did none and am not too worried about my grade.Essays are easy, pop quizzes are even fair, even without reading. She's an easy grader, but a boring lecture. Then again, Conflicts of Pain and Suffering isn't the best subjec
She is awesome!!! I would go to class just to see her. Easy grader. Everyone should take a class with her.
I'm not sure why everyone loves her so much. She can miss class but you can't, making it seem as if her time is more valuable. Ridiculous attendance policy and she repeats certain things over and over again while not mentioning other important material. Not the worst teacher, but irritating.. and definitely not the best.
She is great. Attendance is mandatory which is a pain but just come to class and participate and you will get an A. Assignments are easy and there is two big papers but they are easy just do the reading. Definitely take her
She does a terrible job of explaining the relevance/importance of major issues relating to the course and assignments. She has no idea how to facilitate a college level discussion. The amount of required reading is absurd! More importantly, she has a ridiculous attendance policy. If you actually what to learn something while at DePaul try another P
she's a very nice woman and i feel bad for her because the majority of the class is rude. she tries to encourage discussion but only 2 or 3 people actually contribute. the class is interesting and the so are the readings. easy class, attendance is mandatory (part of your grade)
Yuki is the best. She is an easy grader. Can get an A for doing nothing. She says come to every class but if you miss a couple just email her and your fine, she will say its ok. Class sometimes can drag on but overall pretty intersting.
BORING!!! tons and tons of reading that has little relevance to the course. Likes to pick on people. Wants very specific answers to essays on tests. Not a fair grader.
AWESOME PROFESSOR! I have taken her before and her classes really make you think. Participate in class discussion because it helps you write your papers. DO NOT SLACK ON READING!!! Get all of the required texts and READ THEM! She poses really good questions so take them seriously and she will take you seriously.
alot of writing and group projects. didnt really know what she wanted on assigments. avoid her !
Wow-I am really sad to see such ignorant comments about Prof Miyamoto. She is a passionate & wonderful professor. She expects alot from her students but it is worth it! Group projects always suck, but her use of articles, documentaries, & first-hand accounts were very effective. Lots of class discussion to hear classmates opinions- be openminded!
I would definitely take any of her classes again. Participate in discussions and even skim readings and you will do great. She loves big discussions that can go on for a majority of class time. A lot of writing, but totally worth it. I learned so much and it was by far my favorite class in 2 years at depaul. Participate and do the work to get an A.
one of the best professors i have had! she is a great teacher and is really passionate on this subject. tries really hard to invoke class discussion and values everyone's opinion. around 5 short paper assignments, midterm and final paper, and reading due every class. attendance is mandatory but she uses video clips and diff. sources to help us
awesome professor! the subject is really interesting, and she makes the subject interesting, as well.
She assigns a lot of readings that are long and repetitive. And when I mean long, I mean she expects her students to read like three chapters that is 30-40 pages each. She is a funny teacher and her grading is pretty easy but the subject gets extremely boring after a while.
I enjoyed this class. A crazy amount of work. You will either do extremely well on the papers or really bad. Her grading is very random for what she marks down, but not that hard. She is fairly helpful and is willing to listen to you. Definitely the class to take for this section though.
Yuki is a genuinely sweet and caring person. I went on a religious studies study abroad trip to Japan with Yuki. She is incredibly knowledgeable and full of amazing stories and information. Pay attention to what she has to say - I guarantee it's important. She's an inspiration and an awesome professor.
Overall, Miyamoto ruled. She requires a heavy amount of reading, but I actually didn't mind this at all; she had us read all primary sources ranging from Aquinas to Nietzche which were usually awesome. She genuinely cares about your learning and development. Discussion is the focus of the class, and she does not tolerate apathy and laziness.
She is amazing! I sincerely enjoyed the class. Class discussions were fun and interesting. I generally dislike philosophy/religion classes but this one was the bomb! (Literally, it was an atomic bomb class). I've learned so much in this course and from Professor Miyamoto! Definitely in my top 5 list of classes for DePaul!
Yuki is an amazing teacher! She went through so much information in such a short time that I couldn't imagine it, and her class made me completely reconsider my own religious and philosophical views. This woman is amazing, and I will definately be taking more classes with her in the future.
Ms. Yuki is such an objective professor. There are a lot of readings, but the class discussions can't be beaten. As long as you show up and pay attention you should be solid. Interesting topic but definitely not a blow off!
She is a wonderful teacher that is totally objective. Encourages everyone to participate but doesn't pry. Be prepared for a lot of readings and single-spaced writing assignments, but overall an interesting class.
I was super intimidated at first, but she is really sweet and is very enthusiastic about what she teaches. Ended up loving this class.
I loved this class. She really wanted her students to interact with one another. The readings she assigned were really dense and long at times, but she went over them in class. Class is mandatory. She was easily accessible, a plus! She was intimidating at first but she is super funny and a great professor. I'd take her class again!
This was probably the most life-changing course I have ever taken. Not only was the course material extremely challenging, engaging, and intense, but Ms. Miyamoto had always maintained an incredible perspective on it, and always give the class the opportunity to give our own thoughts and perspectives. Take this course with Miyamoto no matter what.
This teacher is brilliant, tough, considerate, and enthusiastic. All of the qualities that make a great professor. She is attractive as well.
All reviews of this professor are extremely accurate. Slightly intimidating at first, but she is challenging in a way that the work won't annoy you, but rather keep you interested. She facilitates great discussion, is passionate, and is so adorable it makes me smile at times. Course was challenging and enlightening. Highly recommend Yuki.
Interesting class, opened my eyes up to the way the environment works and Japanese religions. It could be boring at times, as well as the readings (which I barely did). I thought she was a fair grader. I didn't try that hard and got an A, but that is how it is for all my classes here. Recommend! She is very nice.
Professor Miyamoto is extremely nice and fair. She grades easily and is clear on what she looks for. Just keep up with the readings and the class will be easy.
There is no book she posts the readings online. They're long, they're hard, and they make you really think. She's wonderful at stimulating class discussion and she's very helpful and clear. You'll get what you put into this class but she has high expectations because you can tell she's very passionate about the subject.
She loves her subject and it is very interesting. You NEED to participate a lot to pass. Group project can save your grade! Readings are long but interesting and assignments are very clear. She is very knowledgable, helpful, and nice. Definitely ask her for help or just go talk to her during office hours. One conversation will teach you a lot
She's great... a great grader but you have to work hard...a lot of reading. She expects a lot.
She is absolutely amazing. The best professor in my life!!!!! TAKE HER AND YOU WILL NEVER REGRET. Once again AMAZING. Paper based class, no quizzes or tests. Few group projects, but very cool. No textbook.
Professor Yuki is a pretty good professor. There are no quizzes or tests. There are a few group projects and papers. There are very long readings and expects you to participate in classroom discussions. If you need help she is always there to help you out. Just a lot of readings and papers to write.
So boring! The class was supposed to be about something completely different than what she taught. She was really easy but SO boring!!
Professor Miyamoto is just AMAZING! Would take her classes with her over & over again!! Heads up! It's a reading heavy class! No book, just D2L. She expects a lot from her students and is very caring. She is always there to help the students. Highly recommended! She is also very encouraging! 3 Super easy writing assignments!
Dr. Miyamoto is an excellent teacher that does a very good job of reaching her students and communicating the information in a way that is very understandable. She is very accessible outside of class, and urges students to visit her with questions. Her tests and quizzes are tricky and are derived on small details, so reading the textbook is a must.
Dr. Miyamoto is extremely kind and knowledgable. I'm registered with CSD for an unpredictable chronic illness and she was super understanding when I occasionally had to miss class due to my symptoms. She truly cares about her students and wants us to question how we view religion and ethics. I hope to take more of her honors courses in the future.
Professor Miyamoto is very kind, knowledgable, and approachable. The class is extremely discussion heavy, and she expects you to contribute, meaning you will need to read the lengthy assigned readings. Guidelines for papers were clear, and there was plenty of peer review for the final paper.
Professor Miyamoto is a great teacher and makes the class quite intriguing. Worst part was the class presentation so if you can get through that you will be fine.
Professor Miyamoto is honestly so amazing. She cares so much about her students and is always there to help. It was unfortunate that our class had to be online because of the pandemic because I would have loved to meet her. All the readings are on D2L and the discussions help so much in understanding the material. TAKE HER! she is amazing!!!
Dr. Miyamoto is amazing! She's really sweet, and even though the class wasn't hard, I learned a lot. She asks lots of really thought provoking questions. I took a three hour night class with her, and we stayed engaged as a group the whole time, and it felt like a little family. She creates a great atmosphere and inspires a lot of thought.
Overall, she is a great professor. Everything is pretty straightforward and she is probably the fairest grader I have ever had as a professor. She is very flexible about how you want to approach and write your papers. The papers themselves are also pretty easy. Make sure to take notes though on all of the articles you read. Makes the final easier.
I really loved this professor, her passion was very visible and she was always bringing in different perspectives to the space that I had not thought of before. Her grading is very simple, as long as you try your best she will give you a fair grade.
I wish I could take her classes again! She cares so much about her students and is incredibly knowledgable about the course. There is a good amount of reading but it's all very interesting and worth a read. The class discussion really make the class and as long as you participate you'll be good
I enjoyed professor Miyamoto's class. I took this class for required religion credit and I'm glad I picked such an interesting class. Participation matters heavy and readings are required for every week to be able to participate. One of the more interesting religion classes offered so highly recommend
Fantastic, hard-working, professional. One of the best at DePaul. Cares for her students and is deeply knowledgable.
I am enthralled with my time in professor's class. The material is broken down weekly and the student discussion leads are always helpful. She really creates a sense of community in sessions, and though there was discourse (ethics class) she handled it with grace and really had me critically thinking through topics.
Excellent Professor. She elevates many discussions with her wealth of knowledge, and gives incredibly insightful feedback that will help students improve both as writers, readers, and thinkers. I highly recommend taking at least one class with Dr. Miyamoto, otherwise you are missing out on a once in a lifetime opportunity.
She was rude to the Christians in the class and said a lot of anti-Christian things. She tried to get me to change my project focus because it defended Christianity and she didn't agree with it. There's so much reading and the lectures are so boring.
