Nicest prof I have ever had. Very easy. open book exam 4/5 HW. You want to get an A+. Take the class with him.
Easy. easy easy. You don't have to understand what he says. On the exams he lets you use open book, open notes, and even ask him questions. He wants you to make an A+.
easyyy really recomended
This jr lvl stat's class was difficult.Yuly looks like the Russian Robin Williams and is about as difficult to understand at times.I found him to be very scattered when teaching and he doesn't relate the work to real world problems or explain the details very well.He is nice and smart but be prepared and wide awake for his class. My GPA is 3.7.
open book test, take home test, no one will fail his class.. TAKe him, his class is not as an easy easy, he's very hard to understand, & wont learnt much stuff unless you really listen. else he is OK & easy A.
Yuly was one of the best math teachers I had in my entire college career.
Yuly is very good about helping when you need it, just send an email. His tests and quizes are fair and somewhat challenging, but not bad.
The lectures were "a beating" Tests are worded a little tough, but reviews were helpful. Open book, open note tests
Dr. Koshevnik wants you to do well in this class! If you attend and participate in class you will be greatly rewarded!!! Also, make the effort to go to his office on occasion, you will find your grade reflecting the effort.
His accent is strong, but he can be funny and interesting.
Yuly really wants you to pass his class. But he can smell out the lazy ones so make sure and study. Going to his office hours and introducing yourself won't hurt either. Funny classes, he's a real jokster.
One of the nicest prof. I've had! He pretty much tells you what is going to be on the test, so as long as you catch his review days, you'll ace the tests. His tests are open book, but trying to learn it all by yourself takes longer. Highly recommend taking him for your stat course!
Prof. Yuly does care if you pass but he doesn't teach very well. He will tell you what is on the test (but not till two days before)and his tests are open book but unless you fully understand his explanation which is very diff. you dont have a chance. Over half the class failed the first exam. If you dont have hrs. to teach yourself- dont take.
Very hard to understand what he says. Does not know how to apply the material to the real world. Even though he gives reviews before the tests and quizes, and the its open notes, it is still really hard. Don't take him unless you have no other option, most of the students in the class sounded like they were below 70.
I would HIGHLY recommend this professor for Statistics. The material is pretty difficult, but he makes is VERY EASY for you to get an "A". If you go to class and take notes, there is no reason you should not get an "A"- I got a 99.5. A little hard to understand the accent, but he gives you the exact info that will be on quizzes and tests! GREAT!
He's AWESOME! Go to class and take good notes because that's exactly what will be on the quiz! 6 quizzes 1 dropped. 3 tests 1 dropped. He'll tell you what will be on the test and if you have your notes you'll do fine! Once again, TAKE GOOD NOTES and you'll do great! Hard to understand him and he tries to be funny.
Good teacher who TRIES to be funny. I thought he was good. Pretty easy class as long as you go to class, pay attention and write the quiz/test reviews which are very helpful. sometimes seems confusing but the reviews did the trick. Definitely take for stats or any other math course
I found the class to be extremely hard but this is the best teacher you can get... he is willing to help you with any questions that you have!! Awesome guy... really wants students to succeed :)
AWESOME PROF!subject matter is kinda confusing n boring but the prof made it really easy. ATTEND CLASS! not much effort is needed to Ace this class. Just make sure you go cuz you can use your notes on quizzes and tests. dont bother with the text, you dont need it. attendence is whats gonna help you the most. dont blow off the final(its a lil tr
I give this guy a mixed review. He REALLY wants everyone to succeed. Open notes for every quiz and test. The trouble comes from sorting through the mess of notes he gives during class. He fills every minute of class time. If you don't do well on a test, show up in his office and he will change your grade!
Accent is difficult. Tests can be hard if you aren't crystal clear on terminology and are trying to use the book. His tests are straight from class notes. Book is a waste. Previous classmates test were most useful in studying bc of terminology.
I really did not like his class at all. I hope the Dean will read this comment because he is not hopeful at all. He only cares for the people who want to care about.. Be Away and do not take him... BE AWAY! PAID $1500 for NOTHING.....
He is very helpful as long as you do your work and he sees that you try your best. He gives many opportunities to make your grade better. Open note tests are still hard, but with practice you can get an A. I recommend him for Statistics to everyone.
If you hate Math, save your money and don't take him. Hard to understand due to language barrier, but is a nice person. That doesnt matter though when he grades. If you struggle take someone else. You rarely use the book, and take notes all class. You can use the notes on the test but it doesnt matter cause test are asked in a diffrent math style.
Yuly is very scattered when he lectures. He has introduced a group project this semester and it was a disaster because his TA, professor Amman set it up and there was absolutley no direction. He replaced the weekly quizzes with this group project, so we had no exposure to the nature of the questions to expect on the test because we had no quizzes
He's a nice guy... but his grading is harsh, his book doesnt really relate to lecture and unless youre a mindreader or a math whiz you wont make an A in his class. He is a cool guy, but seriously consider transferring this credit from a community college.
He was a very helpful professor! Your grade depends on attendance. If you come to class and take down everything on the board in your notes, you will be perfectly fine! The tests are all open notes and not that hard!
BEWARE! He changed how he structures the curriculum in Spring 2010, so his class became a lot harder. I have to retake his STAT because of this. He didn't give partial credit on the tests but GO TO HIS OFFICE and he might boost your grade. I cannot stress this enough to GO TO HIS OFFICE for help. He's a nice guy but kind of sucks at teaching.
His accent is a major hindrance to his lectures. Asking him any question is a complete nightmare. Also, beware that the TA grades EVERYTHING and they make MANY mistakes. The TA took off 20 points on one of my tests with no valid reason. He's ok...but I didn't learn that much or anything I'll remember.
DON'T TAKE THIS PROFESSOR...
DON'T TAKE THIS PROFESSOR....He is one of the worst teachers of all time. He strives to make students feel inferior while at the same time, teaching next to nothing.I didn't him or the class. If you want to do well, you'll pretty much have to teach yourself. He's not very helpful often, someone will ask a question, and he'll misunderstand and give
IF YOU HAVE TO TAKE STAT... DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. IF YOU ARE A BUSINESS MAJOR YOU HAVE OPTION TO TAKE BA3360. TAKE THAT MUCH EASYER. GOODLUCK
Worst professor ever! Rechecked my paper and had several things i didnt get points on that he gave me credit later on. hes very hard headed, i had to take this class twice because of his poor organization and 0% use of the book. His lectures are useless. He wouldnt pass you if youre few points away from a C no matter what.
I liked him, because of his obvious intelligence. Show up to class and he will tell you what is in the exams. His grading is not as harsh as is often posted here. Also, you get to take your notes to the exam, so there is no excuse for not doing well in his class. People fail because they are used to only taking M/C exams. His exams require thinking!
If you are like me and have had troubles with math and are willing to put in the effort KOSHEVNIK is a great Prof. He lets you take notes into the test and gives reviews, so if you study and take notes you can pass. Also visit him in his office he will work through problems with you, sit in the front and be invested in the class and you will pass.
Attend ALL review sessions because they will go over problems that will be on the exam. Exact questions will be used; only numbers change. Allowed to use lots of notes on the exam although he says one cheat sheet. I got a 66, 79, & 100 on my exams and got an A due to his great curve at the end. Reasonable guy.
He's got a cool accent but his lectures can be hard to follow. He wants his students to succeed. If you talk to him 1 on 1 HE WILL OFTEN BOOST YOUR GRADE and try to help you as much as possible. His tests can be tough but the reviews are usually very similar in content. BEWARE his quizzes! He gives them randomly!
Mr. Yuly is extremely helpful. The subject is tough, but he offers office hours and is always willing to help students who want to do well.
Lets see, He programmed his homework answers wrong in muchlearning and would not check or fix it. Ask a question during class he just shush you and cuts you off and talks about something unrelated. "Office Hours" is his favorite phrase. Horrible teacher. If you don't understand something he will say you need to come to class more and pay attention
According to people who have taken his class past semesters, he has completely changed the way he teaches. Over half the class failed the first exam below a 60! Second test wasn't much better. If you ask a question he will just tell you to come to office hours. Worthless teacher. Avoid him at any and all costs. Nothing is to much.
LIKE HIM!
Couldn't understand him half of the time. This class is a repeat of AP CAL in high school. It takes him 10 steps to reach the answer, but in reality it would only take about 2
His homework is graded on a 3 point scale. He will give you several questions but only pick two of them to base your grade on so you can only make a 100, a 50 or a 0. Same for the quizes. He also refuses to answer questions in class. He is friendly but not at all helpful.
Over half the class failed the first test. Worked my butt off to just get a C. Promised to curve first test since so many students failed, but did not. Do not take him.
Not an easy class by any means. If you do the HW (written and digital), come to class, and ask for help when you don't understand you should be fine. Nice guy, has a eastern european accent (easy to understand still)
He worked with me to get me back on track in the class after failing the first test. If you put forth the effort and go to his office if need be, you will be fine.
Dr. Koshevnik color codes his lectures for your benefit. He encourages students to speak up with questions. You create your own formula sheets for the quizzes and exams. Noting when to use certain formulas given certain variables is recommended, especially for the exams (80%, no drops).
Professor can be hard to understand at times, but he is extremely helpful if you don't understand something. You have to use the book!
Absolutely great professor. Does great lectures. Unless you're very familiar with the material i suggest you attend every class. Regularly gives hints for homework assignments. Allows page of notes for exams. Taken him for 2 statistics class and a calculus class, enjoyed every one.
I love his class. He is extremely helpful. If you attend every session, take good notes over his lectures, see him during office hours for help, and try your best, it is easy to succeed. I highly recommend this class! He tries to make each lesson interesting and easy to understand.
Koshevnik is a very kind professor that makes attempts at humor and is willing to help. Unfortunately, MATH1326 eats up so much time and it is not particularly easy. Studying outside of class is a must since he will briefly review subjects in class. Be prepared for weekly quizzes, DHW, and GHW. Not for the faint of heart!
This professor shouldn't be teaching at any level in school. He is a bad teacher, he clearly doesn't care about his students understanding the material and also, he makes fun of you when you ask a legit question in class. Never helpful and always threatens his students to do well (even thou the teaching is bad) or he will fail you! Horrible teacher
I love this professor! Yes, he has a strong Russian accent but you'll get used to it. Recommend to attend every meet! He is just too helpful!!!! I did most of the weekly homework at the math lab in the library... which helped a whole lot! Weekly quizzes are easy once you complete the previous week's assignment. Don't be lazy! FYI, I got an A+ :)
He is an awesome teacher and the funniest one I've had. Some people complain that they can't understand him, he has an accent but is easy to understand. He speaks a little low so better to sit in front. The classroom set up is awkward since you probably have to twist your head the entire time to see what he's doing.
this class can get pretty hard, but he does several examples to help you out. Hes very nice and is willing to help in any way. highly recommend.
Professor Koshevnik is a very nice person and he seems to genuinely care about his students. Unfortunately he is not a very effective communicator and rushes through lectures much too quickly. You can either rush to write down the material or pay attention to what he says, not both. Nice guy but bad teacher.
Overall, hard work is mandatory for a passing grade. He can be a little unclear at times and following the lesson can get confusing as well. However, visiting him after class improved my performance and grade! Very enthusiastic to help students outside of class. He's also very funny so that makes class a little more bearable.
Funny guy, and very good teacher. Formula sheet allowed on tests. Tests are very like the homework, so as long as you study, it's pretty easy to get an A.
He's so nice! He'll get to know you by name and is always willing to help you no matter how long it takes. He is really passionate about math and you can tell he loves teaching it. Very informative and easy class if you go to class every day!
This is one of the funniest professors I have ever had even though he retells the same jokes. Made a boring class way less boring. Lets you write a cheat sheet for tests and if you do that right, you will have everything at your disposal to make an A. A lot of people struggled, but I blew this class out of the water. This Russian dude is awesome
Very funny, and enjoyable. Beginning of the course is very simple, but the later material is more difficult. Nothing the math lab cannot assist with though.
This professor is awesome. If you're used to listening to professors with Russian accents, you should have no problem here. I actually like the accent myself, and he's quick with a lame joke to brighten your day.
The material covered in this course is difficult, but Dr. Koshevnik will help you through it. Tests are really hard, but they are take-home and he gives you a lot of time. Lectures are enjoyable, both because of his corny jokes and his use of some of his favorite "example" problems.
Great professor
I loved taking his class! I thought this was a much easier class than Calc 2. The beginning of the semester is really easy. Quizzes are from the homework, and there are three exams. I made A's on pretty much everything, but the final exam kicked my butt! I ended up with a B+. The MathLab is a MUST!!! DON'T PROCRASTINATE!!!
Yuly is awesome. He cares, and will help you with whatever. You will NOT do well in this class if you do not put fourth the effort in learning the material, or you are procrastinating and doing it last minute. If you need help, see him. The material itself is hard, but his way of teaching is decent. quiz is like hw, test like hw and quiz.
HE WILL GIVE A VERY GOOD EXAM REVIEW WITH QUESTION ANSWER B4 THE TEST DAY .

Many ways to earn his extra bonuses credits. Thanks Dr. YULY koshenivk.
One of the best professors definitely. He really knows his stuff and gives interesting lectures. Strongly recommend! Pop quizzes are usually after lectures and you need to be present in class to turn your articles and group work in. So you'd better attend every class.
Best professor ever very knowledgeable not only in STAT3360 but in engineering as well over qualified for UTD. I'd recommend him for any STAT3360 course if you like STAT3360 . And if you don't like STAT3360 I'd recommend him for the same reasons.
Yuly is an amazing, and helpful professor!!
Incredibly helpful and understanding. Makes the math very clear, willing to move test dateslenient on homework, answers questions in class very thoroughly, lots of office hours that he's very helpful in. Best professor I've ever had in STAT3360 at UTD.
He give us question answer keys 2 days b4 the exam day . so , u can study . At the end, no one left behind B. He is Genuinely nice guy and is very knowledgeable. Recommend greatly because he is down to earth and very understanding
Hilarious guy. Great teacher. Easiest math I've ever taken. Practically gives you answers on the test beforehand. 3 exams , 1 lowest exam drop. That's helps a lot professor. He saved my semester.
HE GIVE A VERY GOOD EXAM REVIEW WITH QUESTIONANSWER. HE IS Very easy, nice, and relaxed teacher. He takes attendance every class so try not to miss out. I didn't buy a textbook (you don't need it, use his ppt notes), I only bought stuff for myMATHLAB and saved a bundle!
3 EXAMS . ONE LOWEST GRADE DROP IT . THAT IS THE POWER OF TEACHING.
He is good professor at utd
Good professor, very clear on the things that he wants from his students. Online HOMEWORK & QUIZZES , EXAMS and always answers you back when needed. I would recommend taking his class STAT3360
85 % earns an A at the end Fall semester. he opens many ways to earn extra bonuses credits. 2 exams , one lowest grade drop. He give a very good exam review with question answer clearly b4 the exam day . attendance is non mandatory.
The instructor clearly defined and explained the course objectives and expectations. The instructor was prepared for each instructional activity. The instructor communicated information effectively. The instructor encouraged me to take an active role in my own learning. The instructor was available to students either electronically or in person.
extra bonuses credits - gives a very good test review with questions answer 3 days b4 test day . ONE LOWEST GRADE DROP . I LIKE IT. THANK YOU VERY MUCH DR.

There are 3 exams , 1 lowest exam grade drop . He saved my life. NO BOOK REQUIRED. Thank you Dr. Yuly
We are student Stat3360-011 highly recommend for all Stat3360 classes at UTD for this professor. NO BOOK REQUIRED. ONE LOWEST EXAM GRADE DROP. HE HELPS US A LOT.
Absolutely loved this class and this professor. Dr. Koshevnik is one of the most helpful professors at UTD. I definitely suggest his class. He gives practice exams and the exams are very similar. He also allows a page of notes on the test. I would definitely take another class taught by him again!
There are 3 exams . 1 lowest exam grade drop. NO BOOK REQUIRED. THANK YOU DR. YULY
There are 3 exams . 1 lowest grade drop. all multiple choice. he opens many ways to earn extra bonuses credits. NO BOOK REQUIRED . ATTENDANCE IS NOT MANDATORY. THANK YOU VERY MUCH DR. YULY . THE BEST STAT3360 PROFESSOR AT UTD.
He can be a little tough to follow, but the homework clears everything up. He always gives out a practice exam (which is basically the exam with different numbers), just review that (he posts the answers before the exam so you have time to go to the math lab if you missed anything). Homework and quizzes are easy, as is exam with study.
He is the nicest and kindest prof out there, but unfortunately I did not like the way he teaches. I knew all the formulas but had no idea what they stood for and how to put them into practice. He writes and erases really fast, so I had to rush and didn't hear his explanations. Exams are identical to reviews, hw and quizzes. No need for book!
An easy A to your portfolios. All his exams are the same. The reviews are just like the exams .Thats you do just COPY & PASTE into your exams to get easy 100. Did we mention? Go the early class, take exam paper then go out solve it. Then we, your class time come up. You just go in COPY & PASTE to get 100. ALL HOMEWORK, QUIZZES, EXAMS ARE THE SAME
This class is supper easy to steal an A. No book required. No attendance either. All exams are the same if you have friends who took his classes last semester. You just Copy it & paste into your exams to get an easy 100. There are 3 exams, 1 lowest grade drop. He does not check for all treat sheets either. Open books, notes, laptop when Ur take exa
Professor is awesome. If you attend class and show an interest for the class, you will get an A. Professor is always available during office hours, ready to answer questions about homeworks and quizzes. Examples are repetitive and will help you get the point across
Explains concepts very well if you listen in class. Wont be hard to make an A if you are dedicated. I took him 2 days a week, one day was a quiz over material, one day was a homework assignment due. Very good and helpful professor!
Ahhhh... Dr. Koshevnik!! Definitely lucked out getting him for a freshman statistics class. He is super organized, brilliant, and hilarious. Also, he is really invested in his students' success. Clear and concise. Very responsive via email and available in person during office hours. No question is unwelcome. Very nice man. Show up and you'll pass.
I understand that Stats is already a hard class, but Koshevnik does an AWFUL job at teaching it. He writes so fast and writes so much information on that board that you can hardly keep up with him. He seems nice overall, and even tries to joke a little bit. But his terrible teaching method negates any positives. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! TRUST ME.
Dr. Koshevnik is a great professor. He is sometimes funny and tries to make the class as interesting as possible. Attendance isn't truly mandatory but going to class will help you immensely on the quizzes and tests. He allows you to use a formula sheet on the quizzes/exams. Practice exams are really similar to the actual tests.
Great professor. There is 10 HW, 10 quizzes, and 4 tests. 2 HW and 2 quizzes drop. To do well on HW: go to class/math lab To do well on quizzes: study HW To do well on tests: study the review My only quibble with his class was that I wish there was more scientific calculator integration.
Recommended to take him. He's easy to approach, seems to care students. Read previous comments from other students. They are TRUE!!!!! TAKE HIM!!!! That's why I rated him so high!
Avoid Yuly at any cost. Not helpful at all. He focus more on writing stuffs than clarifying to class. I had to to everything by myself because i didn't understand anything that he taught. Hard to understand him. Worst thing is, his jokes are not even funny. Stat being a hard class, he makes it worse. Last, don't expect any help.
Very hard to understand through the accent. Expect homework and a quiz weekly. Although his handwriting is clear, his explanations are sometimes not. No notes are ever posted online and the book is horrible at explaining concepts. Had to attend the Mathlab to learn to concepts.
He allows cheat sheets on his exams, but they will leave you blindsided. If you don't like your exam grades, go to his office hours and let him belittle you for a while. He'll give you back some extra points if he likes you. He's pompous, gives snide remarks, and has clear favorites. To do well, get him to tell you exactly what is on the exam.
Professor Yuly was great- his exams practice reviews are the best, he enhanced my learning experience. P.S. He will know your name by second class meeting, and always call you by your name, Great guy
He is a nice professor, and tries to crack jokes in class (the corny kind). Overall he is a nice professor, though you can barely follow him in class (maybe bc stats is VERY boring). He posts notes online, which is nice bc if you had no clue what he was saying they clarify concepts well. Also, he is extremely helpful if you go to office hours.
Yuly was nice and yeah he knew my name quick but that was about where the good ended for me. He focuses so much on writing notes on the board and going by his lesson plan that if you ask a question you are not going to get a clear answer. His practice tests are nothing like the exams and his lecture is almost impossible to follow. Just don't do it
If you chose to take his class please do so at your own discretion. He spends most of his time filling up the board with formulas and definitions instead of explaining them. He writes so fast that it is very hard to keep up with him. By the end of his class you leave with the same knowledge about stats that you had when you first came in. None.
We got cheat sheets every exam, which was great if you take great notes in class and pay attention. But Koshevnik focused more on theory and "tricks" than meaningful application. As such, this course does NOT effectively prep for the actuary exam P, even though it's advertised that way...
I really like him but I think the class is hard in general and it doesn't help that he doesn't clarify anything he writes on the board. He typically writes a lot of notes, quickly, and you're too busy writing it all down to even pay attention to him. And he has a thick accent which can be hard to understand or follow through with.
Lecture heavy, fills the entire board up while standing directly in front of it the entire time without elaborating on anything. You will have to conduct your own research to understand the concepts. I would have never wasted my time if this class wasn't a requirement. Notes during quizzes and exams from what I can recall. Complete waste of time.
Yuly focuses on Stat theory and tests over application. His lectures are confusing and boring. The only reason I passed was because I went to the weekly review session with ELLIOTT, wish I could have given my tuition to him instead of Yuly. The practice exams are EXACTLY the material that is one the exam so study those!
UTD really messes you up with this guy. He is the only professor available for stats 3360 and he is the worst professor at the school. His class is designed to make you fail. Take OPRE 3360 if at all possible. Under no circumstance should you take his class
Easy A class. Trust me he wants students to learn and he will help you really good during his office hours. I usually went to his office hours and he helps me out on homework. Sometimes, he cracks the funny joke. Love this professor. Exams are straight from lecture notes and practice test
Easy A class. Take him if you can then opre 3360
This man is the best! Took him in the Fall 18 semester and he made stats extremely entertaining. His accent can be tough to understand at first, but you get used to it. Yuly's notes are often fast-paced because he needs to get through all of his material, but he is there to help during his office hours. He also helps a bit during tests and quizzes.
Doesn't really follow either of his two textbooks well or really provide examples in class, then gets upset when you don't know what you're doing.
I enjoyed the way he laid out the lecture material on the board and walked through it before doing practice questions. I would give him a 5 but it was difficult to hear him at times during the lecture.
Stochastic Processes is a difficult subject to learn, but Professor Koshevnik tries to show you tricks and tips to get the answer easily (without proofs). He goes over everything you need to know in class, but if you don't understand something, he always responds to his e-mails soon after he receives them and has many office hours.
Yuly is terrific - just show up to class, pay attention, and you will do well. Everything he quizzes or tests you on is explained thoroughly in class. If do poorly in this class, that's honestly on you.
Great guy, loves teaching, cares about students. Homework every week. Doesnt post reviews, but he goes over test material in class, so be sure to attend if you want to know whats on the exam. Allows cheat sheet for every exam. The material isnt too hard dont dwell too much on the theory (its the applications that are most important anyway).
As long as you show up to class you will get an easy A. His accent will throw you off at first, however you will get used it. Textbook is not needed. This is honestly an easy A take this class. Plus he will let you use cheat sheets.
This class definitely has a bad rep among the undergrad math/stats courses. I did bad on the first exam, but by the second exam, I learned: GO TO CLASS and TO OFFICE HOURS, esp before exams. He is so nice in office hours and really tries to help. I did super well on the second two exams, once I figured out how the tests are structured. Great prof!
I have to say that I disagree with the person below me. I went a few times to his office and got the You should have understood this in class vibe. Also if I could make one suggestion to him I would say to try a bit more to listen to students better bc he would often interrupt students questions and then explain the wrong thing.
Professor Koshevnik is a good person and is interested in his students preforming well. His lectures are okay and homework assignments not too unreasonably challenging. Course grading set up is 20% homework, 25% for 2 exams, and 30% for a final exam. Homework is graded easily. Theory based exam questions receives virtually no partial credit.
10 problem multiple part homeworks due every week. he literally works through most of the homework in class. first exam, almost everyone failed due to having to use tricks/formulas that were not covered in the review but he then added a huge curve. the second exam was extremely easy tho. He's not a bad prof but you must use the tricks to succeed
if you can't make it because you didn't even try.
I retook this class after getting an F. If you don't attend class I don't think you'll pass with a high grade. For almost every homework and exam he gives "hints" which if you can do, you'll do fine in his exams since those are more or less the questions on the exam. Also you can take a cheat sheet for the exams.
Make sure to pay attention on how he does his practice problems because that is how would do homework and the test. They are called "drills" or "PE#".
He was an excellent professor and really cares about his students. His office hours are great and he understands situations and helps out when it comes to emailing him. His class has several quizzes and homework and his tests are straight forward.
Dr. Koshevnik is overall a great teacher. He is accessible outside of class and will help reteach things to you if you don't understand. GO TO HIM BEFORE TESTS. He will let you know exactly what to expect for the test. He also lets you have a "cheat card" for the tests. Also, if you email him he always replies fast! DEFINITELY RECOMMEND HIS CLASS!
He sets the class up for you to succeed. You literally get to use a 8.5x11 cheat sheet for the test. Honestly do not even need to understand the topics that well, just need to fill out your cheat sheet well. Biggest issue was that he was hard to understand sometimes and one would find themselves very lost
His class was not even difficult, he gives you all the materials to get an A, if you just showed up to class and paid attention an A would not be difficult. He gives out old exams, which are like his future exams, but the numbers are slightly different. He also lets u use a cheat sheet, front and back. Id recommend him
I didn't really enjoy the "old school" format of the class with lessons on the whiteboard and all. I would have probably liked opre 3360 more. However, this class is super easy and if you show up and take good notes you will definitely get a good grade. He's also super helpful in office hours so meet up with him whenever you have questions.
All the math courses are the same. The class notes are the answers for quiz and hw just change the numbers. Yes it is an easy class but, when covid started he didnt even care. Classes became online and he didn't host not one class. Learned it from the book, when i asked for help he said "Let us not overestimate the benefits of virtual office hours"
Dont take this class if you want to understand statistics. Do take it if you dont care and just want an easy A. Lectures the entire time but never explains what any of the distributions or equations mean, and instead just gives you homework answers and tells you exactly what format exam questions are in which you can put on a cheat sheet.
I took this class asynchronously due to COVID and so I learned through his notes. Learning math through notes can be difficult, and you have to read through the notes multiple times to fully understand it. However, his notes have hints that help with the homework and exams. He is also super nice and responds very quickly!
He was an excellent professor and really cares about his students
He's a super sweet man, but I never understood his teaching. Honestly, I stopped going to class and just learned through his notes and it worked out pretty well for me. If you actually care about statistics and are easily confused, I wouldn't take him, but if you're looking just to get an A for the credit, take the course.
Terrible teacher
Class itself is very easy, posts notes online so you don't have to go to class. Tests are asynchronous, you can take them whenever works best for you. Missed a few hw assignments, he was very kind and replaced all zeroes with my final grade. Really cares about his students, always there to answer questions and help out. Gives answers to hw in class
Professor Koshevnik is an understanding professor, but, his lectures stopped making sense to me after the second week. He writes information on the whiteboard, but it is so hard to understand. I stopped attending after midterms and my grades stayed the same. Don't take him if you want to actually learn unless you are willing to put in extra effort.
It's a weird class I don't even know how to describe it. I learned next to nothing attending lectures because it's pretty confusing, but he cracks a couple good jokes. Exams are basically the homework with different numbers, so overall you'll be fine if you take him.
Yuly is awesome if you get to talking to him. I took AP Stats in HS so this was more of a review for me. He posts the answers to the homework after it's due and you can use those answer keys to basically walk you through the tests (same questions, different numbers). Tests are open note&on your own time. He uses the full class time start to finish.
3 Exams, 10 HWs. Don't bother with the textbook or his lecture notes. The content you need to know is all in his lectures, he will combine two textbooks for his lessons and it will waste a lot of time to read both textbooks. His tests are just like the HW with different numbers. Very nice and understanding. Please attend class or you'll be behind
Exams are 80% of your grade. He dosent teach well and messes up grading alot so make sure he's grading your work properly.
Exams are 80% of your grade! He dosent teach well so youre better off just skipping class and teaching yourself.
Dr. Koshevnik's teaching isn't great. He's difficult to understand and skims a lot of important material. HOWEVER, in my experience the class is super easy and he's a nice guy. Exams are open note and almost exact copies of the practice exams, so you can literally print the answers. Every week he would work through the homework before it was due.
TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! 10 homework assignments, which he goes over and helps you out with, and 3 tests, which are almost exactly the same as the previous exams he posts. Exams are open note. He also gets grades back to you very fast and gives good feedback on tests. This class is an easy A with very moderate effort. I dropped stats twice before him.
Yuly is awesome if you get to talk to him. I remember he curves one of my tests. if you ever take stat take him.
The class is overall really easy, too easy to the point you really aren't learning, more memorizing unfortunately. The homework and exams are just the lecture notes with the numbers changed so attendance is really recommended. Not a difficult course, just make it to class and take some notes and you'll do fine.
I took his STAT 4351 in Spring 2024 and enjoyed the class. The professor goes over the homework in class, and the exams can be challenging, but if you attend class and do the homework, you should be fine. The class doesn't involve proofs so much as knowing how to apply the correct formulas and techniques.
AMAZING PROFESSOR!!! Does not try to trick you and grades very fairly, gives test grades back within 2 days. \ Grades are just focused on weekly HWs (except test weeks) and 3 tests. The HWs can be difficult sometimes, but just find a way to do them and you will be fine on the tests which are open note and very fairly graded.
Had him twice. Gives good guides/answers for HW/exams-- go to class! Doesn't explain material super well but gives enough for you to be successful gradewise. Much easier taking him the second time, felt like I knew his teaching style. Makes funny comments. Great guy, gives a lot of leeway. I'd want him to be my grandpa lol
Focuses too much on the tricks to the point that understanding of the content is sacrificed, yet proofs are still given. You need the tricks to do the tests fast enough. Tests are similar to the practice exams and allow lots of cheat sheet space. Homework answers are given in class. He is also amusing, a fast grader, and very accommodating!
Lectures can be confusing, but the exams are basically the homework with different numbers. If you skip class and self-study using the posted homework answers, you can still do well. unstuck AI was a lifesaver for practice questions.
pretty chill guy, tests arent too hard just make sure you can do the homework
The people who complain about him didn't go to class for sure. He gives you homework AND the answ
Gives all the homework answers in class and gives practice exams that are exactly like the real exams, ie the class is easy if you put in a little bit of effort. Though he is sort of rude and doesn't answer questions in office hours.
Chill dude, but get ready to study on your own, his lectures are long winded and boring, and he doesn't teach the concepts as well as you can teach them yourself.
Prof. Yuly's class was pretty easy. He gave almost all homework answers in class and the exams were pretty much exactly the same as the reviews and hw. You just need to learn all of 'the tricks' and you'll ace the class. His humor is pretty non-PC but honestly his lectures cracked me up a few times. Very approachable and funny to learn from!
Avoid this class at all costs. He gives no partial credit on exams at all; one small math mistake and the entire 20-point question is a 0. If you try to talk to him for some points back, prepare to be completely ignored and disrespected. Course content is quite easy, but the exam grades don't reflect your knowledge of the course whatsoever.
He is mostly chill but sometimes goes over time in lectures. Buddy, your time is up.
Caring professor that likes to joke around. Weekly homework but he goes over them in class before they are due. Offers a previous exam to study which is almost the same as the real one and allows formula sheets. Lectures can get over complicated and go by fast, but if you can learn how to workout the practice exams you will do well in the class.
Pretty Solid Professor. Lectures can be long and frankly boring, but useful. Weekly homework but he goes over the problems in class. Detailed solutions posted after homework is due. Exam Reviews are very similar to the actual exam. As long as you can do the homework and exam reviews you'll be fine on exams.
Free A class if you attend. He basically does the homework during lecture - just show up and take good notes. He also gives a practice exam, and about 95% of the real exam comes directly from it.
