WAY too chinese to be teaching at a college in SD. Good luck understanding him. My recommendation: laugh at him when he laughs at himself because laughing is funny.
His accent is hard to understand. He gets easily distracted and makes horrible jokes. He does know the physics he teaches, but it sometimes takes him a while to work out problems.
I've taken similiar classes twice before and I'm usually very bored since I am only taking the class to get credits, not learn.
Good teacher, but the class is really tough, and i found the test to be impossible to complete in 50 minutes
I wish you would explain concepts and formulas a little better in class. Going slower might help.
Overall a very smart professor. The acent makes learning a little harder but he does pretty well. You should plug in your numbers during the help sessions so we can see how the formulas actually work. Good professor overall very funny, but the class in general is pretty tough.
Very phenomenal professor! He knows perfectly what he is talking about! Great to have him as instructor!
I like Prof Huh because his class is so full of information but he makes me laugh, so it goes by quickly. The class is difficult, but he is very helpful and very friendly, so that helps out a lot.
Great teacher...funny, keeps me interested.
Yung Huh can be somewhat hard to understand at times but he keeps the class atmosphere light and enjoyable for everyone. He does a good job of covering the material in a relatively simple manner.
Interesting teaching style, fast paced, not enough examples of problems
Dr. Yung Huh is a very knowlegable professor and has a entertaining sense of humor. His lectures are full of information, but he could do better on explaining the realivancy of the subject matter. Overall I would recommend Dr. Yung Huh.
Tries to make class intersting with funny examples about gettting rid of the room mate and going to Skinners. The material is difficult.
DONT GO SO FAST IN CLASS.
The class is difficult but Dr. Huh is a great professor.
Yung Huh is a good teacher, he always has a smile in class and makes it interesting, whether its jokes about Skinners or just making a comical remark. He also teaches how to do the problems well, though sometimes he makes them more complicated than what it really is.. all in all, good
Always prepared for class, and presented it well. If more detail was given it would be better. I remember I didn't realize that torque had to do with the sum of the differing forces acting on the rotating object until later on. More explanation for the why and how things are would be good. Thanks for helping whenever I had questions.
I wish you would more clearly explain the principles and law/rules that we deal with in physics rather than constantly going through problems with no actual numerical valuse
Dr. Huh was extremely friendly and always helpful. I loved his cheerful way of presenting this subject, though the course itself was rather difficult. Probably something else could've helped to understand the subject matter, but Dr. Huh was good. Thanks Dr. Huh! I enjoyed your teaching.
he's alright
Loved the enthusiasm in class it made it enjoyable to attend class well as enjoyable as a class can be.
He is a nice teacher. Most of his exam questions are from the home work assignments.Moreoever the lab counts as 25% of the total grade..which is really cool. But not as good as bonvallet when curving the grades.
Dr. Huh will make an extremely difficult class rather easy to understand. Lab and homework grades make up a considerable amount of your final grade, which helps out a lot. He is very enthusiastic about what he teaches. Overall, I would recommend Dr. Huh to anyone. Great job Dr. Huh!!
kinda boring, maybe its just the material
Dr. Huh seems very friendly and nice, but I had a hard time learning any Physics. He teaches through derivation only. So unless you're great at math and think very analytically, Dr. Huh might be tough for you. I wish I could have taken the class from a professor who knew how to reach his students a bit better.
Dr. Huh makes the rather dry subject of Physics interesting. He frequently uses example of how to kill your roommates or self-humiliation to get the point across and keep the material very light. He is also very knowledgeable and helps students understand and solve the problems.
Did an excellent job relating the material back to the real world. This made it considerably easier to relate to the material. He also had a very good sense of humor and made learning fun! thanks for the great sem. Dr. Huh!
he is cool and the way he teaches is awesome. The important thing is that he dont care about the exact answer he wants to know either you understand the subject matter or not. His class is not only about the derievation of the subject matter but its worhty if not anyone can use the formula by cheating or looking at others but if u derieve it that m
Dr. Huh is not the best teacher on campus, but he makes physics fun. His examples are entertaining. Although his exams are nearly impossible (over 3/4 of my class got a 0 or 1 on the midterm), the lab and homework are worth a lot, making a passing grade easy to get.
Very very smart man, which makes some of the materials difficult. However,His energy and humor he brings to class is awesome. Also, He makes it easy to pass the class.
funny, decent teacher...didn't like all of the derivations
A very good teacher, who teaches at a decently hard level, but is very clear. A good teacher for those who want to be sure they learn the material.
Huh, is a very funny guy. On the first day of class I learned more than the whole previous semester from the professor. Has ethics I agree with in class about extra credit, go to every class, and also his grading is very fair. Overall, a very good professor. Knows his stuff.
Huh was a very good teacher... explained things well
He is a good teacher. He taught well and was always ready to help his students.
explains nicely and teaches important materials in class rather than trying to cover everything. gives reasonable amount of homework and gives timely feedback on tests.
I did not do great in this class but it was my fault, Dr. Huh was very helpful and a nice guy to take a class from!
Not the easiest class I have ever taken, but it was informative and I enjoy classes with this professor.
the class was about as smooth as quantum mechanics can get. good integration with textbook. homework was appropriate, timely and relevant.
At first, class was very intimidating. Recication in lab is sometimes difficult, but it helps you out tremendously with tests. Some of his assigned Webassign problems are a little ridiculous.
Dr. Huh's class was one of the fun classes I took this semester. This guy knows what he's teaching. Does a lot of examples in the class that helps you in the recitations and exams too. If you want to take 211 I would say Dr. Huh would be the best to take it with.
He definitely knows material very well but often moves too fast through the notes not giving students a chance to absorb information at all. He is a funny guy which keeps class interesting. Solves all of the example problems with variables which gets annoying when you want to see tangible examples.
I appreciate the instructors attempt to include modern physical theory about the beginning and the end of the universe.
Writes and talks at superhuman speed, nothing short of a miracle. notes taken in class were disorganized and very tough to use for homework. makes the tests and grading system fairly easy though.
Alright professor. Must say that examples in class rarely helped with homework. Also, I do not understand why he never used Calculus the entire semester, when this is what the class is supposed to revolve around. Talked very fast and didnt understand why he taught evolution during class.
A good teacher, knows his material and very willing to work with you if you go in. Recitation is very helpful for the tests. Also his grading system is good. If you can keep up with him in class your good
Great teacher, he talks a little fast, but is very smart. I wish we would have used more numbers in the examples, but the problems we did in class helped. Having recitation early in the week waked made it more difficult to get the recitation done but it helped with the class, its a give and take. Overall it was a good class
Moved very quickly. Topics would have been easier to grasp with more time. Made calss interesting. Thermodynamics and Angular motion were the most difficult topics, would have been easier with more example problems. Like the grading scale and recitation/homework style.
I have faltering eyesight and garbage handwriting...yes, note taking was difficult, but not beyond manageable. We are in college people. Better get used to it. Huh was awesome. Funny, for sure. Great teacher. Always helpful. The way the whole class was structured was great, with Webassign and recitation. I wish I had more characters to type
Grading was easy to do well in the class. He talked really fast so it was hard to learn from class lectures. His solutions were often wrong. Nice guy but worst teacher I have ever had. Poorly written final.
Good guy, not very good teacher. Notes were disorganized and rushed through. Webassigns were pretty difficult and the problems were never seen again on an exam. The class average on the final was 38 percent, which pretty much says it all.
class is about the same as it was for 211. Differences are the use of the whiteboard rather than the projector. This is acceptable for me sitting front and center. Otherwise, I'd be completely lost sitting anywhere else. Projector is probably best for overall students. HW seems to match the recitation much more closely than before. Great Prof.
Dr. Huh is a very nice, energetic teacher. Lectures in class seem a bit rushed. The sheer number of formulas is overwhelming and an allowance of a formula sheet for tests seems extremely reasonable, as is demonstrated by the 211 final average of a 38. Overall, a good teacher willing to meet students needs when they are presented to him.
Lecture is rushed and sometimes seems like we talk about things that are not going to be tested on. It would be nice if we did more examples with real numbers like on the recitations.
Lecture would be more effective if the goal was clearly stated/ written above, i.e. "Find Electric Field of Sphere: Use Gausses Law" or "Derive Ohms Law". Board use has easier to keep up with, although I had to move to the middle to see. Emphaszing actual test and homework problems during class and clarifying the solving process would be helpful.
Teaching style is fast and a bit rushed, but overall fairly easy to follow. More examples from homework and recitation would be nice. It would also help if the exams were scheduled closer to the dates when we finished talking about the material. It seems like exams are over material that was taught two to three weeks prior.
The computer made taking notes so much easier, please bring it back!
Does a very good job of pacing through the material well, but I wish instead of, or in addition to using hand written notes he would post some typed notes as when reviewing following through some of the highlighted sections in the handwritten notes is difficult.
Lectures are pretty rushed and not very organized. The exams are based solely off recitation so if you study those you're fine. Overall, not a great class but it's pretty easy to pull off a good grade.
Teacher has a good attitude and is easy to talk to. Computer notes are also nice. The course work is very hard and fast paced, so always work ahead to keep up.
What is gone over in class is not related well to help solve problems given in recitation and on your homework. This makes assignments difficult to complete without clear explanation in lecture. Too much time spent on theory rather than different situations of applications.
He explains things extremely well. at first it almost seems ridiculous (such as vector addition and subtractions) especially if you've taken physics before. overall, he makes sure to explain everything as thoroughly as possible. He is also very funny. Good energy! Take him.
explains formulas but not the concepts behind them making it harder to know whats you are trying to do with the data
Professor Huh is happy to help if you ask. Going to class is helpful for the lab and homework. Throws a lot of information at you in a short time which can be difficult. Tests cover a large amount of chapters = challenging. Would be very beneficial if he let you use a notecard on tests.
This class was tough. The homework is almost impossible to do without google. The only thing that was nice was that the tests were VERY similar to the recitations we did in lab.
If you can get to class everyday and pay attention during lecture... Should be alright
Explains everything extremely thoroughly and the test problems correspond to what we do in recitation.
Class wasn't too difficult if you showed up but I would have liked if he went over how to do more of the homework questions.
Dr. Huh was one of my favorite professors I've ever had. The tests weren't hard as long as you showed up and studied the recitations from the lab portion of the class. He was also pretty funny so it made paying attention to the class a bit easier.
I'm sure he is a nice guy, and he tries to be funny in class. To me, his way of teacing was NOT efficie because no matter how much I try I can't understand the concept. So when it came to tests it was ABSOLUTELY AWEFUL. Even with curve I'm looking at C. Unless you are super smart or are excited to learn about physics, this is a bad class to take.
As long as you know how to study for tests, this class is easy. But if you don't attend class, don't plan on getting a good grade.
Dr. Huh is a very good professor. He wants everyone in his class to succeed, and his lectures reflect that. The tests are doable with studying, but they are not easy. Dr. Huh likes to make sure that you really understand the concepts, so make sure to read the test questions carefully!
He is very helpful and is funny which helps keep my attention in class.
Dr. Huh is a great teacher! I really don't lke physics or understand it super well, however,I'm doing just fine. I'm in a summer class and the lecture portion is 3-4 hours long but I have no problem staying focused because he is good at covering topics and moving on. I really enjoy his humor :) I do wish he would update the grades on d2l though.
I think Dr. Yung Huh is always willing to help so you understand what you are doing. However taking it in the summer is more do it on your own, which makes it more tough.
I do not like this professor. We knew how to study for exams but then he switched how he writes them so it's very difficult to get a good score. He's also difficult to pay attention and he likes calling names often :/
He provides you with all the information necessary to succeed in the class. However it's up to you to actually learn the information to its full extent.
Good teacher, though a little hard to understand some times.
most confusing professor ever, difficult to understand english sometimes, seemed to jump around notes a lot.
Very easy class, Yung Huh's test averages are very high and you are almost guaranteed an A on his tests without even studying. His lectures are very organized and helpful, as well as clear. Basically, just study everything in the lecture notes and don't bother with the recitation and you will be guaranteed an A in Huh's class.
The professor is hard to understand and moves through the material way too fast.
Good Teacher. Easy grading curve
Dr. Huh is one of my favorite professors ever! He is hilarious and makes Physics fun to learn with the way he develops example problems. I'm always looking forward to my Physics class because of him.
I love this teacher, but I dislike the class, mainly because of the grading. The curve was made by the Dean of Physics, and makes a general class become one of the toughest classes to get an A in that I have taken.
Sometimes the professor is hard to keep up. Also, I think it would be easier to understand the material if he actually incorporated more real problems such as the ones that will be on the tests or recitations in lecture. Many times he just explains the process. I also found that I wasn't given much help when visiting his office.
Hard to understand at first. Such a funny guy! He gets a good laugh out of you usually, but I struggled paying attention and learning during the class...
The tests are difficult, but the book can be used. The class is curved heavily, making it hard to fail but also hard to get an A. Professor Huh is very intelligent, and strives for his students to understand the topic. He is very good at answering questions, you just have to ask. He is also a very funny teacher who seems to love physics.
Awesome teacher
After a couple of classes he is easy to understand. He is a funny guy but his notes can be hard to follow at times. His tests are not killer if you take the time to look over your stuff and do the homework problems.
Very intelligent man. It is obvious that he has a passion for physics and also for teaching. His accent becomes much easier to understand after a week or so. Great guy!
I didn't pay attention in class. So bring something else to work on.
I really like this professor and it pays to pay attention in class, not just to get a good grade but also to get something out of the class.
Less theory, more useful and relevant examples
Lectures are very unorganized and not concise at all. He is not very willing to assist students. Exams are very similar to recitations so you can get a B without really learning anything.
He is not too bad
He doesn't actually teach, just writes and rewrites equations. The stuff we learn in class barely has anything to do with the homework assignments, and I've gotten a 50% or less on most of the tests, not because I don't understand the material, but because he never actually taught it to us.
Dr. Huh is an awesome professor. He is very helpful and quite funny. His class is basically impossible to fail and all u really need to study is his notes. His tests do require some "out-of-the-box" thinking, though, especially towards the end the semester but for the most part, tests r very consistent with hw problems. Definitely recommend him.
You will not learn very much physics from him. He gives no partial credit and his tests were all multiple choice until the final. For the final it was not multiple choice and no partial credit, and he didn't inform anyone beforehand. The average in this class is around a 50 percent and the average on the final was about 10 percent. It's a joke.
He doesn't seem like he cares what the students think. The final exam in this class was a joke.
Dr. Huh is a horrible professor. He has a terrible teaching style and always yells at you when you need help.
Hes a good teacher, but since this is calc based he likes to explain where the equations come from and it gets a little confusing. Plus his accent is strong which makes him difficult to understand. He lets you use your book on tests. and its graded on an extreme curve. The top so many people get an A the next top so many people a B and so on.
Physics is not my piece of cake, but Doctor Huh teaches just what you need and if you keep up with the homework, and the recitation its an easy class. I took Physics 211 with a different teacher and I did horrible at SDSU. So far Doctor Huh is a way better teacher than most others at SDSU. I seriously have a positive outlook towards physics now.
the guy knows his stuff, but his tests are hard. Out of 114 students, not one student got 100% on any of the exams.
I did not learn much in this class. It was impossible to study for the tests because nothing he said was consistent. The lectures did not match up with the homework, recitations, or lab. He lets you use the book on the test, but it doesn't matter because nothing from his lectures are in the book. The final was ridiculous.
Do not plan on getting much out of this course. There is very little coordination between class, homework, and tests.
Don't expect to learn much unless YOU go out and learn the information. Dr. Huh's lectures are boring at best, and he continuously repeats information from one lecture to another instead of moving to the next topic.
He is the man!
Class was horrible. Tests extremely hard, grading scale that you couldn't figure out. Points just flew out of now where into the grade book that didn't matter. You can not understand his lecture notes at all even if you were like me and went to class. Sad how I'll graduate and I'll not know whatever was taught this year.
Something needs to change with this courseinstruction. Dr. Huh is one of the most frustrating instructors that I have ever taken a set of courses from just because of how messy his teaching style is. Not to mention that the tests seem to make little to no sense unless you have a background in electricitymagnetism. I am very glad to be done.
This class was absolutely ridiculous. I have never been more frustrated with any class before in my life. The lectures, labs, recitations, homework, and tests had no correlation whatsoever; talk about being beyond lost trying to study. I literally did not learn a single thing, it was like making us board the titanic knowing it was going to sink.
Dr. Huh was the absolute worst teachingprofessor I have ever had. Class was an absolute joke! Don't even need to show up to class to pass becaue of the ridiculous grading scale. Lab has nothing to do with recitation or what you do in class. Dr. Huh is terrible and needs to be fire so no more students waste their money on not learning a damn thing!
He teaches off of theory which is not good when you learn best by examples. Should be easy to pass since 90% get a C or better no matter what due to the curve. Kinda more like a pointless class, or an intro to other courses.
It's difficult going into a test where it's fill in bubble sheets and there's questions on things that were covered for less than five minutes, yet each question is worth 10% of the test grade.
Dr. Huh knows what he's talking about, but he has a tough time putting into words we can understand and explaining exactly what's going on and how we get the final equation. He explains the math and what we have to do, but he doesn't explain what each mathematical process means in the real world.
Dr Huh epitomizes what it is to be an awful college professor. This class was horrible. Everyone failed. But, because everyone failed, everyone passed. Make sense? I didn't think so either.
Good luck.
The only thing I enjoyed from him was that he was somewhat funny. The thing is though, I came to learn physics and not to laugh which he is a terrible teacher. My first two tests I got were 810 only because I watched khan videos while others struggled to get half of the points. The only way people pass is because of his relative scale.
The curriculum is very hard to understand, &he does not explain it very well. There are only about 4 tests the whole semester, so you better hope that you know what you are doing. Going to class will sometimes help, but there were days that what he did just made it even more confusing. Talk to your recitation leader for help, if he or she is good.
He is very helpful and funny.
Easily the worst teacher on campus
Dr. Huh definitely knows the material very well. However, the tests we were given covered chapters that we had learned over a month ago. This was often confusing because we were learning unrelated topics for weeks before the test.
Don't get me wrong, Dr. Huh seems like a really cool dude who loves physics. But if you haven't taken anything like this before, good luck. Of the 1 or 2 example problems given in class per chapter none involved actual numbers. Then you were expected to figure out the test and homework which was twice as hard.
Doesn't teach anything helpful. Most helpful part is recitation before lab. Hard to understand, and tests are very difficult to get points on.
Don't bother going to him for help because he doesn't do a good job at explaining things. Try using google and chegg for help!
Can be funny class. Other than that he is not a great teacher. All theory (straight out of textbook every lectures), doesn't explain information well, acts superior when you go in for help, 100% lecture ( no attempting to involve the class). Set up so top 15% of the class gets an A, next 30% B, 45% C, 10% D.
The homework helps out the most with exams.
More time should be devoted to making sure students understand what you are talking about, instead of flying through lecture notes.
You have to put more time into the course. Hard homework and quiz. Not everyone passes the class!! you have to be at the top.
The questions in the tests are easy but, he confuses the hell out of me. It's sad when you think you understood something but then the HW hits you like a freight train and makes you feel like you don't know anything.
I enjoy class and Dr. Huh, however, when it comes time for the recitation sheets and the homework, I am completely lost and it takes a ton of time to finish them, as all the material looks brand new. I feel that if we did more homework examples in class, I would be better prepared for the homework, tests, and recitations.
Tests are hard if you don't study. Lab TA's are nice and helpful as well. If you attend class and do your homework you will do fine overall especially with the curve.
This class has a lot of specific items that Dr. Huh goes over very well in detail to make everyone understand it, but the coursework is in large part a review, so lectures so far seem fairly slow and uninteresting.
I do wish that there were more specific examples completed in class.
Lectures are difficult to follow along with
The test so far was short, but tough. Lectures could use more specific examples. Overall Dr. Huh is hilarious and a good teacher.
We are almost done with chapter 4 and the test over chapter 3 is a week away?!? Should have had two tests done by now. Don't like learning new material when the test over the old material is yet to come.
In class he only goes over general examples and does not put numbers to the scenarios. This makes it very hard to do well in this class. It is all variables. Variables make the concepts hard to understand.
He is funny, but moves through the topics really fast and often gets a chapter ahead before the test (ie. lecture on Ch. 4 the day before test over Ch. 1-3). Lecture lecture notes on D2L. He will very rarely (if ever) give much needed examples with actual numbers. Good luck searching for example problems on google to teach yourself with!
I wish the notes you write on board were more clear.
Dr Huh is hilarious, however he needs to make attendance mandatory as well as include numbers in examples. It isn't an easy class to teach yourself. A way he can make attendance mandatory is clicker questions.
I went in for help multiple times and I felt like he didn't have time for me. Could also sense frustration when I didn't understand the material. Extremely messy lecture notes, expects you to understand his writing. To pass his tests, you have to use equations/notes he taught you, no one else's notes. Worked so hard on this class, didn't pay off...
I wanted so bad to comment on every good thing about this class and Yung Huh. However, I feel that I work hard in all my classes and found that this beginner class was made much more complicated than it needed to be. Yung Huh as a person is great and funny. I found learning the material was difficult and his grading is harsh.
I know he's smart and knows what he is talking about but sometimes he doesn't really convey his message very well. Great person.
Great teacher, but a lot of exams and they are little hard.
Lectures are impossible to follow
Grade against other student gives EE majors an advantage.
This was a difficult class, but it was not impossible to earn a passing grade. Attendance in class was very helpful, but all of the notes are posted online if you ever miss a day. Writing down the equations and homework questions helped me the most.
Cannot follow lecture, notes are illegible, doesn't use numbers in examples.
This class is nearly all electrical material, which gives the EE's a clear advantage when it comes to the grading curve. This gives them an advantage over everyone else. Also, the lab grade should be separate of the class grade; doesn't make sense to have all 4 credits be a C when I earned an A in lab.
Well, may the curve be ever in your favor. Although you don't learn a single thing unless all you study is physics, at least you can get other work done during his lectures. Tries to crack a joke here and there; they can be sort of funny sometimes. The dude is a legend when it comes to over complicating things.
Doesn't Do examples in class, making homework difficult and confusing. Also making the quizzes respectively tough.
Going to class is a waste of time. You don't learn anything. Just because the grading curve is shifted down, doesn't mean anyone is learning anything.
He is a man who is far too smart to be teaching physics 211. The lectures are not necessary if you have a decent handle on physics, but I highly recommend attending because the lectures offer a broader experience to physics, and you might just happen to enjoy them. The quizzes are very hard, but the grading system he has devised is very fair.
Does not really teach the material. Get ready to teach yourself everything in the class except for the most basic topics.
Dr. Huh is very knowledgeable and is always open to questions. He was able to get through much more material than I had expected for a one semester class. I highly recommend him as a professor if you want to get a lot out of class.
He is a classic example of a very smart person who is a very bad teacher. He was never comfortable giving lectures and I felt that he changed his lecture style often purely out of hoping to find an effective one. Class average for exams was in the 30's, be ready to learn on your own. Heavy curves and very relaxed grading scales saved most students.
Just not a good teacher. Lectures were pretty haphazard and the material covered in lecture only showed a slight correlation with what was actually on assignments and exams. Definitely be ready to spend some time learning most of the content on your own. Exam grading was inconsistent, heavy curves were a saving grace.
Took phys 111 this summer with Dr. Huh and he was one of the sweetest guys ever. He genuinely cares about students. Not the best teacher though, unfortunately :/ kind of hard to follow sometimes. BUT, we had no exams in the class. We just used a smartbook for HW, then had a quiz each day w/ the same exact questions.
I feel like the ratings here are unfair so I'll put in my two cents. Dr. Huh is the best physics professor at SDSU. Others are correct- he's too smart to be teaching here. But the dept. is trash and he's better than Bonvallet. He is hard to follow, but if you learn how he works problems and can repeat it you'll survive- try to follow his thinking.
Huh is super chill love him
Quite literally one of the best professors I've had. He understands and teaches the topics clearly and throughly. Very clearly cares about the students and helps out whenever he can. Showing up to lecture makes physics 100% easier. Class is set up so it doesn't require much studying (3 hours for each exam maximum).
This garden gnome made my life hell for one semester. He goes over very simple examples in class and then expects us to just figure out the much harder problems on the exams. Physics is hard enough without having to deal with some of the nonsense questions he asks us.
