Professor Cloarec is extremely helpful and a very caring teacher. HIs class is very easy and you can pretty much breeze through it. I would definitely recommend taking it!

He is a very nice professor. You will learn a lot from this class. you will also see your writing improve. overall the class wasn't difficult you have to write 4 papers. you have blogging homework and will have to participate if you want a good grade. He also doesn't give out As.

Professor Cloarec is a wonderful professor. I took this class because I needed the reading literature requirement, but this class did not feel like a requirement. I always loved going to class and this was a winter class so it was everyday for three hours. The workload is very manageable. He is just a wonderful professor and person.

Absolutely wonderful, brilliant and passionate professor. Took him for winter and instead of being miserable in such a bad winter, his class was fantastic and worth the effort. He mentions that everyone starts with an A and has to work hard at losing it. Do the work, go to class and you'll be happy you attended.

Not 'one of', but THEE BEST professor anyone could ever have the privilege of having. He is the most patient and fair professor and genuinely cares about his students excelling and improving in his class. Blogs every once in a while but he's very lenient with postponements (he's SO understanding). His class was my favorite and surprising so fun.

Good professor. Came in & took over for another professor who had to leave bc she was sick. Nice guy, class was a little disorganized but that's probably bc he came in to cover. Best advice, participate A LOT. If you make yourself known to him, you're golden. Overall, nice guy and willing to help.

If you come reasonably prepared to each class and actively listen to and participate in discussions, you should have a very easy time writing your papers. He's a lenient grader and I managed to get As on all my papers which I wrote in one sitting. It's a very relaxing class and I thoroughly enjoyed nearly all of the films and discussions.

This professor is amazing simply put. He has a wealth of knowledge on the subjects covered in class and many others. My only regret is i don't have any more Lit classes to take with him. If you enjoy learning new things and seeing literature in a new way. I highly recommend this professor. He is fantastic and very knowlegable.

Prof Cloarec is amazing. I took his class during a summer session. It was a lot packed into 4 weeks but it was a pretty great class. Show up to class prepared & willing to participate & you'll do well. He is very helpful & is very open to discussion of everyone's interpretation of the text. Perhaps one of THE most respectable professors I've had at Queens College, Professor Cloarec genuinely cares about his students. He not only teaches the curriculum but imparts valuable life wisdoms to his students in all fields of culture, history, and language. Published many books. Translated many others. Definitely credible as a teacher.

Doesn't believe in penalizing you for not writing a perfect paper. He looks at effort and improvement-which is guided by weekly edits and tips to your responses. Very enthusiastic. Never learned so much about Europe. Don't be fooled by the movie watching and no notes--you will learn a lot.

Professor Cloarec is one of the few teachers that isn't interested in grades, he cares more about improving writing your skills. The class is made up of 10 1-2 page weekly responses, and 2 essays. You can then use the weekly responses to build your two essays. The first essay (6 pages) is a draft for your second essay (10 pages).

I had him for a summer 4 wk intensive. We watched movies and analyzed their plots and sub-narratives, characters, author's intentions, archetypes and the Hero's journey. Expect to participate and do work. He's a great teacher and a nice guy but not a push-over. We worked on 2 main papers and were graded as we developed them. I highly recommend him

I had the wonderful opportunity of taking Prof Cloarec this past spring semester. I learned so much from this class. Prof Cloarec is so knowledgeable and wise on so many different topics, which made the class very fun and interesting. He is very helpful and genuinely wants you to succeed. If you have a chance, take him! You will not regret it.

Professor Cloarec was the best professor I had my entire two years at Queens College. He is so fascinating and worldly his lectures make you want to travel the world and experience different cultures and explore the history of other countries. He truly truly cares about his students and their grades and you WILL become a better writer.

A easy grader no one comes out lower than B- and the thing is even for a W class you never need to read any of the books even he says you have to just watch movies the whole term he doesn't care how is the grammar in your essay just take him way much better than the CLMIT course A MUST TAKE FOR ANY W CLASS WISH HE TEACH THIS WINTER MUST TAKE

He's doesn't really care about grades. As long as you do the work, even if it's bad, he'll still give you a pretty good grade.

Professor Cloarec is one of the most compassionate teachers I've had the pleasure of meeting. He will work with you to better your writing, and he is extremely understanding. His best quality is that he doesn't intimidate students. He grades based on your overall effort, which is great if writing is not your forte.

I took his 165W intro to poetry class and I am beyond happy that I chose to take it. Excellent professor, very nice, respectful of every student and a pleasure to come to his class. Easy assignment due everyweek but all counting towards the final paper. Would highly reccomend!!

If you are not a native speaker, and you are worrying about writing intensive class, highly recommended him as your english teacher, help you a lot on writing! easy B+/A- depended on how you do on lecture. I LOVE this prof so so much.

Amazing professor. The work load is not bad. It seems bad on paper but he does everything in steps. I fell behind due to depression and he allowed me to extend the deadlines for awhile. He is kind and caring and will improve your writing. You should take it.

Professor Cloarec's class was relatively easy. He gave work that would only help us for our final paper. He is always ready to help you, both in and outside of class. He was a little disorganized and took a while to respond to emails, but he teaches so many classes, it was hard for him! He gives good feedback! Definitely recommend him, easy A!

Yves is amazing! He doesn't believe in grades so if you do the work you get an A in the class. He has weekly papers that if you plan correctly can be used for the Essay and the final paper. He wants u to become a better writer so gives u freedom for the topic but if u ask him he will help u. Really amazing class. Definitely recommended for Euro120.

He's one of the best prof's I have encountered. His only goal is for his students is to become better writers, he doesn't care about grades. As long as you try your best at writing, you'll do great in this class. Don't take advantage of his kindness because he is honestly a great english prof.

He is a very passionate and genuine professor. Truly invested in the success of his students. His class is unlike any other, and really tries to open students up to different cultures and societies. The material is fairly light, but he is strict on deadlines. His lessons are important not just for the class, but for life as well. A great guy!

I loved taking English 210w with Professor Cloarec. He helped me feel more comfortable and open to writing. Professor Cloarecs teaching style made it easy for me to grasp what was expected from us, and if the class or I had any questions, he was always readily available to answer them whether in class or via email.

I took this professor in Winter and he was amazing. You can easily pass this class if you just do your writing and submit them on time.

THE BEST and the second easiest in the whole qc, but it seems like he is teaching in another school full time so he might not be in qc anymore . i am glad that i take his 161w in the 2017 summer, catch the last chance.

He is such a nice and fair professor. He is lenient with deadlines but do not take advantage of that. Do the work on time but he is very clear with what he wants too. He gives good feedback and by far one of the best professors I took so far.

Professor Cloarec is a great professor! you have to work for your grade! Its a lot of work but he really wants all his students to do well. The papers have nothing to do with what you do in class but he does share some interesting things about Western Europe. This class you will have to do work but its worth it.

I took Professor Cloarec in the winter and it was the best decision I have ever made. Not only is he caring and an amazing professor but his lectures are interesting and inspirational. Highly recommend taking a class with him , you won't regret it. Btw, I took English 130 but the website doesn't show me the option.

Show up and put forth and do the work will get you a B minimum. Put in effort and show that you care will almost guarantee you an A. Participation matters as most of the class was group discussion. Very lenient with grading and page count. Will do what is best for the students even if it contradicts what the department requires.

Very easy to get an a in the class if you show up and do the writing assignments. Looking for an a, take. the only thing i found irritating was that he showed ted talk videos. i have no problem with anyone's political affiliation, but a lot of ted talks are partisan and flawed (very easy to make counter arguments).

Professor Cloarec has been one of the greatest professors I've ever had. He is very lenient with assignments, as long as they get done. He cares more about teaching students to create quality work than he does about grades. If you ever need to take a class and he's teaching, take it. You will not regret it. 350 character isn't enough to explain it.

He is one of If not the most inspiring or kind teachers in this college ever but please don't get on his nerves.

The ratings speak for themselves, he is truly one of the gems in this college and should be a role model for other professors. Honestly, his grading system made me really care about writing, I usually wrote very vaguely to get decent grades before but now knowing he doesnt care about the grades, I actually wrote which is what professors should do.

His aim is to teach his students how to write well, and not stay focused on the grade. There are no tricks with this class; do the work and you will do well. Participation is appreciated. I can happily and honestly say that Professer Cloarec is the best professer at Queens College. I took him for English 130 during the winter intersession and English 161W in June. He doesn't care about grades, he just wants you to learn and improve. As long as you show up to class, give your thoughts in class, and do your work, you WILL get an A.

This is one of the best professors in Queens College. He makes the due dates for assignments very flexible and if you due everything on time you will get an easy A

Lots of material, but if you keep up and don't slack then you'll do perfectly fine. At first, the layout of the class was confusing, but once you get into the flow of it then everything becomes much easier. His comments on your essay actually help a lot.

Professor Cloarec is an amazing professor and has fantastic taste in classical music, hence his syllabus!!There are weekly discussion posts and drafts. The drafts are 2 pages double spaced and contribute to the final essay at the end of 5 weeks and makes the final paper much easier and organized. There are two final papers. EasyA must take!

Overall this was a great experience and passionate in what he does. Would 100% recommend this professor

Great class, manageable workload. Syllabus is really long, but don't get intimidated by it! Once you get the hang of the weekly structure you'll do great. He's also really understanding and very accessible through office hours. I learned a huge deal when I just chatted with him during office hours. Follow the syllabus and you'll get a great grade!

This is not a stressful class or professor, so you should definitely take him. He is however particular about how he wants his work done, but it's nothing you can't handle. His class is 2 papers and weekly discussion boards, that's it. Put a little effort into your work and you are guaranteed to pass. No exams and movies for you to learn history.

If you like writing and know how to keep up with due dates definitely take him, i love his grading system. Its very heavy writing though, he likes his work in a very specific way but you just got to follow the syllabus and you will be alright.

Professor Yves is great. All you have to do is show up to class and discuss about films that relates to history and have a discussion on Blackboard. Theres only two essays to do and its anything you are passionate about writing about, but he wants his work in a specific way. Other than that i would recommend this class and professor.

One of the easiest english classes ive taken. Took this course to complete my EC2 credit and it was a breeze. Only 2 essays are done in the class. Every week you will work on a portion of the essay, once you need to hand it in your basically done with the essay. 15 participation reports which are discussion boards and thats all.Very light class.

One of the easiest classes to take to complete EC2 credit. He's a very flexible professor when it comes to assignments. Only two essays to complete throughout the semester and a few discussions to complete based on films watched in class. Very easy A, this class was a breeze. Great professor.

Easy A class if you participate, have discussions and complete every assignment thats given to write your essays. Theres only 2 essay throughout the whole semester, anything you would love to write about that he gives you and is willing to help you if you get stuck with something. Great professor to take for credit.

Great class, probably best class I took at Queens College. I only got a B+ on this class because I stopped caring as much by the end of the semester due to me transferring out. But, his class is just light lectures where you watch videos, discussion posts, and essays which are light because you work on it throughout the semester not at once.

You can tell he loves history and is passionate about it. Answers emails fast and should be an easy A. His class has two essays that you work on throughout the semester. Every week, you write a discussion post of 2-3 paragraphs based on the material he posts or that you discuss, and then you reply to others every week with a 1-paragraph response.

He was good in the beginning of the term and then started to grade me horribly the last few weeks that is why I got a A- when I could've easily got a A+. His instructions aren't clear for the weekly drafts that we do. Every week - 3 Paragraphs of original post + 1 reply to a classmate. There is 2 essays in this class which the thesis are provided.

Pretty light class. 2 short essays that a broken up into sections, and discussion posts. You will get an A if you do the work and he sees effort. Discussion posts can be annoying, It's supposed to be on the material he posts, which are usually long documentaries. Hes a chill prof aswell, I submitted my essay late as I forgot and he didn't penalize.
