Dont bother taking this with her. Her test are soo hard. I dropped it one I saw my grade. What screws you is that you understand the work but her test makes no sense. Very confusing.
Horrible. Don't bother taking this class if you see her name. She didn't even show up for the first day of class. Horrible way of teaching...very confusing.
She's a great teacher! She always makes sure that everyone understands the subject, spends a lot of time with students explaining the topics, and really teaches great. Take her class, especially if your major is accounting, because she will prepare you and teach you the essencial basics you have to know and understand!!
Dont ever take her class
She is not a good professor, thats why she has a bad rating. Her test can be confusing, and unclear but when she teaches the work in class it makes it more understandable. She goes way to fast throughout the chapters.
she sucks didnt understand her way of teaching at all. you ask questions and she looks at you like if you had something stuck in your face. worst teacher for accounting ever test are confusing and useless. dont recommend her take goodman or francis instead.
She's a great teacher for smart kids- I mean come on people it's college. You gotta study and do homework. But after her class you'll understand accounting, it will all make sense not that you memorize and forget with easy teachers who don't care...
Demanding, but really good teacher. Take her class if your major is accounting...
PLEASE DONT TAKE HER! SHE DOSENT EXPLANE NOTHING YOU HAVE TO READ YOUR SELF AND TRY TO UNDERSTAND SHE JUST SHOWS YOU IN THE COMPUTER RESULTS AND THATS IT. HOW SHE GOT THE ANSWERS??? SHE TELLS YOU TO READ YOUR BOOK OR JUST GIVES A SHORT EXPLANATION. DONT TAKE HER
please don't take her class. U will regret it. She just repeat what is in the wiley plus. I am confident that in every semester, she must have taken 3-4 days off.
If u really wanna learn something, avoid her. She just repeat what is in wiley plus. I am confident that she must have taken 3-4 days off in every semester
I can understand the negative comments, but if you don't read then that is not her problem. She dances around in the class so that you understand her or subject matter. She is very animated and you can't get bored with her. She misses alot but she makes it up with how helpful she is in getting the material into your brain. She is a so-so teacher.
Ok i understand we are in college but come on !!! accounting can be confusing even if you read and try to do your homeworks thats why we pay school for a "professor" to answer our questions....this porfessor is nice but her way of teaching is not great she just gives answers from the computer. Do not care for students.
She was good at explaining at first, but then in the tests there was like a whole new strange, i didn't even know when she "taught" us that. I had to study by myself. She also was absent like 4-5 times and in most of the cases she didn't tell us at time
Very interesting and fun class.
She is a very kind and funny person, but not great as a professor. Although she tries to explain over and over you just don't get it. She basically repeats what is on Wiley plus and tells you to read what's on the book to understand it better. Goes through chapters way too fast. I do not recommend her. She is absent from time to time too
very helpful she taught me the basics i needed for bta112,but you must pay attetention and asks questions.
I had to change my accounting major because of her bad teaching. She made me hate acounting. She expected students to learn from Wiley Plus, and her tests were very confusing. She is very unorganized, and she looks at you crazy when you ask her questions. Avoid her class, you won't do well. In fact you'll regret it if you pick her class.
Not thorough AT ALL.she is Super Lazy and breezes through everything! All she gave my class was 4 tests.. No class assignments, no extra credit, HW was not graded.. So of couse if you dont do well on your tests your screwed. To make things worse I took a 6 week coarse so that left little time to process and digest work.I should of came here first!
late alot
After I had brain surgery she gave a chance to continue the class that unfortunately I had to stop taking.
Horrible teacher, very rude, does not help. Helps the male students. When asked a question she replies with the rude answer.
You have to teach yourself. You'll learn nothing in this class. Her "lectures" is not what's actually on the test. She allows disruptions and nonsense to take place, wasting other peoples time and money. She is not helpful but the icing on the cake you ask? If you cheat you'll pass, if you study and try you'll fail because she is careless.
Horrible Professor for first time accounting students. Do Not take her class.. good luck
I was skeptical going into this class in Session II because the feedback from other students and advisors wasn't very good. Your grade is based on exams which use questions from the textbook (which isn't used in the classroom). She is helpful in learning the accounting material, so a Session I class may be better. I wouldn't recommend taking.
Professor was not helpful at all, made you feel stupid for asking for help.
don't know how is she allowed to teach. she canceled class 4 times. when you ask her questions, she talks a lot and at the end still doesn't give an answer! a lot of talking, a lot of joking, but not a lot of teaching. you have to do all your studying and notes on your own if you wan to learn anything in this class. HORRIBLE
Here is how this session went: I paid over $400 for this class. Then I paid almost $200 for Wileyplus. Then, the entire class was conducted by professor Richards reading everything on wileyplus outloud. $600 total for a person to read the program out loud to me. No additional teaching. No help. No effort on her part. Rate: 1/10 not recommended.
Prof Richards curves the tests like crazy. On the 5 tests, I graded out to an average of 125. 4 tests plus a cumulative final. While she reads from Wiley Plus, she breaks down and attempts to help the students. Unfortunately, my class was full of distractions and people who did not attempt to try. She did her best given the situation
One of the best professors in LaGuardia. Professor Richards will go out of her way to ensure that you fully understand the work. Very caring, and considerate . I took the class in the fall semester, and did not pass, however, with Professor Richards I was able to pass the class in 6 weeks. Highly recommend you take her class.
Prof. Richards can only teach LaGuardia because no other schools would tolerate her nonsense. Within a month she cancel class 4 times. She teaching accounting 1 and expecting students to know it. She is like revising, she is not teaching so if student are planning to take accounting 2, please find another prof. who cares about students wellbeing
Took this class short summer section. Tons of information to digest in such short time but professor did her best. Good lectures, she cares that everyone in class room gets the point and take the time to explain over and over. fair amount of H.W. Grades come down to how you perform in the tests. Must of the questions in tests are in the Practice HW
I don't know where to begin, I'll highlight her biggest CONS: - She teaches straight out of a textbook. - She is rude and unsympathetic. - She made a student cry, ridiculous! - Always late, was absent couple times. - Make you feel bad when asking for help. - Makes jokes in front of the whole class when students ask for help. - Do not recommend her.
Too much sarcasm when she teaches her class and wastes time making students feel bad for not knowing the content she hasn't taught. Teaches straight out of wiley plus and lacks the ability to teach the content clearly for most student to be able to understand.
She is too sarcastic, corrupted since she gives senseless tests with poorly accumulated averages, inconsiderate, bashful, dry, doesn't give anyone extra credit or a chance, the majority of the class failed. She also likes to blackmail. I'm not quite sure how she has been "teaching" at this school for decades. Mmmm.
Before professor richards I was awful at math and remembering things that have multiple steps .I ask alot of questions and get distracted easily; yet still Professor Richards was able to guide me through accounting one. She was very intersting and paitent . She never hesitates to break it down step by step . I would recommend.
Professor Richards is legit the best teacher I have ever had. She is patient and understanding, funny, and will explain things a million, and one times if you ask her to . She gives homework str8 from the book with helpful links on how to do it. Accounting is hard and if you dont catch on with in the first 3 to 4 chapters you will get left behind
Accounting sucks in general as a subject. I think that is where alot of these frustrated reviews are coming from. Professor Richards makes things clear and will explain in depth. Is accessible outside of class. Gives homework related to the test. And the best part, wait for it........................... her tests are all multiple choice. Good luck.
Great professor, interesting, only teaches nights and her tests are multiple choice. Doesn't keep you in class longer than she has to. When shes done for the day shes done, which some days you are really going to need because accounting can be difficult, you will get frustrated. She also gives reviews before each exam .
I had to drop due to a family emergency. Shes great tho, very clear. Gives good reviews. If you get offended easily tho she might not be for you, sometimes her jokes can sting a bit. She is very straight forward. She will call you out if you are on your phone.
I took this class in the long session, and it was still a lot of information to take in at once. I'm really glad I had Professor Richards as a teacher, I don't know how I would have done it without her. She really takes the time out to make sure each student (who is willing) understands the content. I recommend reading each chapter before class.
This class was the best money I ever spent. It was a challenge but its been a year now and I find myself actually applying it to my life! Professor Richards was a great at communicating in multiple different ways for multiple different learning styles. She was respected, never let people talk over each other and made sure every student was heard.
Great teacher, I wish she taught accounting 2 :,(
Overall she helps you understand the work, in my class she dumbed down the process enabling all of us to understand. However she can be a mean person at times. She is horrible at grading and uses a lot of sarcasm when helping students. I wouldn't recommend taking her class.
Very good teacher! She explains the problem as many times as you need but be carefull if you do not pay attention! ;) Clear rules and grading criteria;
Came to this site and was actually scared to see her rate but I took the class anyways! Now, looking at her rate I am surprised! She is a really nice professor who just ask her students to be engage in class and participate. It is not easy A but for sure you will learn a lot if you truly engage and not be lazy! I hope to take more classes with her!
Shes tough but she will answer qs. you have to ask. Show up for class and do the hw and youll be in good shape. She uses the textbook and is big on online hw. If youre thin skinned, she isnt the professor for you. She can be sarcastic but shes never mean. Dont be intimidated, shell help. Debits on the left, Credits on the right
I really do not feel she was a good professor. She would get very annoyed when you ask for help and actually had the nerve to roll her eyes at me. I emailed her concerning my grade asking for extra credit she said no it was to late in the semester and she said i dont participate or ask questions which is not true. do not recommend at all.
She is a good teacher . I made many friends in her class and I want to take her class again if she will teach BTA112 in the future . You will learn something if you listen to her and do your homework before the due day . Debit on the left, Credit on the right
I took her class and it was awesome, she taught well, the most important thing is that work hard from your side and asked questions to her without hesitation.
I took her class and I was so nervous to ask questions I felt as if she'll belittle me. I didn't understand anything that was going on. There was no kind of extra credit. I feel as if she didn't adjust to our learning styles. She's very sarcastic. I will never take her again.
The worst professor ever!!! She's very sarcastic. I was never comfortable asking her any question.
Alot of work but she explains everything. She is very clear and repeats all steps required for accounting.
She doesn't give students a chance to actually process the information. I feel like she expects students understand the course.
She hardly taught. Doesnt do reviews. Very disrespectful to all students. Intimidated students for a question when they dont understand. Theres no extra credit.
Great teacher! I'm so glad I had her as my teacher that introduced me to Accounting. This made me feel so much better about my major. As long as you studied the material, it was easy to pass the tests!
Professor Richard knows her work and ensures that all of her students pass. All tests are well prepared and revised for also.
Overall she was an okay professor. Taught too fast and barely anyone participated. Doesn't do review unless someone has a question. If you are absent on a day of a test you have to do a makeup which is much harder on finals day. The assignments do count and are graded.
Professor Richards knows her work and gives goo revison before exams. She tries her best for all of her students to pass
The lectures are read straight from the book. She reviews homework and classwork in class but you need to do the homework as well because it is graded. She puts down students at times when they don't understand the lecture so students barely raise hands to participate. If nobody asks questions then she moves on to the next topic.
She can come off as condescending, but you just need to have your hw and reading done prior to class. Tests were multiple-choice and straightforward, however, she can seem irritated when teaching.
Professor Richards made me really like accounting. The way she explains is wonderful. The best part of her is that she makes sure that everyone understands the topic that is being taught.
The course work is hard but Professor Richards explains everything as best as she can . Dont be afraid to ask her questions , she will take the time to explain to students who are struggling . She will make time to help explain after class online . She was very helpful and would take her again if I could . Make sure to show up and do the work.
She is a great professor, she does give a lot of homework but it is only so that you can 100% prepared for exams, she also reviews for exams and when students ask questions she finds other ways to try to explain the concept. She is also super nice. Accounting is a heavy subject so of course you are expected to work hard for it.
Professor Richard gave comfortable vibe, very friendly yet respectful lecture in person. During pandemic she lectured via zoom very well, made sure that everyone comprehend& understood the concept/ knowledge of the study, instead of just memorized it. She has outstanding skills&personality. I greatly recommend to take her class if you have a chance
Professor Yves Richards is deeply thoughtful, highly engaged and fun. She takes time to assess students difficulties in detail and then actively seeks creative approaches to help them. During the pandemics we faced the challenge to switch from in-person to online classes, and she went above and beyond to alleviate the pressure of the change.
I loved taking classe with Professor Richards. She is so smart ,very sweet and always worried if we understand the exercise and all the chapters we went through. I will definitely would like to take another class with her.
This class was my toughest, but because of Richards teaching methods, I was able to complete my assignments. She's a great professor, she communicates well with us, goes over materials until we understand it and give great feedback . I would recommend that every student take her class. She made online teaching easy.
She is very nice and uses professional approach to help understand the point. For me, She is one of the best teacher I had for this spring semester 2020.
Prof Yves is just amazing, she makes the hardest things to learn seams easy with her way of teaching. Very professional and very motivational to do always better.
Great experience, learned a lot thank to her great way of teaching.
Prof. Richards is one of my favorite professors. Love her personality and how she conducts her class. She is helpful and answers questions. I know at times we're shy to ask questions but please don't withhold. She's also available to meet outside class so email for a mtg. Read the material before class, do your homework, ask q's. Good luck!
Shes perfect i was thinking to change my major to accounting just because of her
She really encourages us to ask questions for absolutely anything we don't understand. I had a few out of class meetings with her on zoom. She really cares.
I honestly WISH all of my professors could be like Prof Richards... it was a delight having her teach this semester.
She is the best accounting teacher
Professor Richards is really nice and caring. She always ask if we have any questions and wants to make sure we understand the material. She is nice but serious about her work. Show up, pay attention, and you will do just fine.
ACC in general is difficult but she made this class realistic to our lives. She is really good at explaining the content and when you don't understand she will take her time to go over it again. It's not a rushed class. All you need to do is ALL the HW and decent on the test. No extra credit but she does curve. Great I wish she taught more classes
Professor Yves is a great accounting professor. She explained accounting very clearly and like basic math. You will pass this class if you participate classwork, finished homework and practiced Orion questions as much as you can because it helps a lot for your test. With all these efforts you will be fine! I wish she teaches accounting II as well.
Professor Richards is my favorite professor at Laguardia. She took the time to explain the material really well in a humorous manner and she really cares about students! The rating here doesnt do the justice for her teaching!
I would like to say is very easy lecture, light assignments and easy A. Professor Yves is the right BTA111 professor for you!
Good class overall.
Professor Richards is very patient and will not proceed until we all understand. Not only did she teach but also journeyed with us. I would not hesitate to choose her all over again if I had to. I was very disappointed when I learnt that she would not be teaching 112 However, am willing to give someone else a chance as I gave professor Richards.
Professor Richards was awesome to have this Spring 2020 semester. She is clear with her grading criteria and her class is super easy as long as you show up, participate and get your class and homeworks done. She was a pleasure to learn from, great teacher. She also provides curves for the tests, so there is opportunity to make good grades.
I found this class very hard. then again accounting is a hard subject. Professor Yves is fun and a very good instructor. I could have worked harder but accepted my B- ! I missed one class but I would recommend being present for entire class. A lot of information to be processed.
Her lectures are very clear and concise. She is extremely patient when we ask questions. You have to do the work. She likes questions.
Professor Richards is a true gem. I was never familiar with how accounting works before this class, but Professor Richards really went above and beyond to explain every single step of accounting process and she didn't leave anything unanswered. I feel really lucky to have her as my Professor.
she is a rude professor who gives attitude to her students and never gives us more time for the test she gives us which is a lot of work. she expect her students to do it in a minute and some people have a hard time to answer but no she ignores us when we talk to her. don't take her class guys im telling you it isn't worth it
Professor Richard is a amazing professor and I dont understand why people gave her negative feedback. She is very responsible and you will learn really stuff in her class. She will explain until you understand. all the exams questions are similar to the Wiley plus assignment. you will get the A if you reach to the 80% of the Wiley Plus assignment.
Beware all the negative comments about this professor are real. I saw it all. She is a little bit rude.
Prof Richards is good . Very efficient and the grading is fair. How much work are you willing to do determines the outcome of your grade. Very humorous although i would have liked for her to teach more profoundly . Overall she covers what needs to be taught.
She is honestly a great teacher you will learn a lot with her and you cant miss a class if you want to learn or you will be very behind. But she is a hard grader I gave my all to this class and did every assignment and test and only missed 2 classes and got a D when I should've never gotten such a low grade. It's also very discouraging
Best professor ever! Professor Richards loves to teach, you can clearly see the enthusiasm she puts in the class and all the attention she gives to the details when she teaches. I came in without any prior knowledge of accounting and I was very engaged through the term. I enjoyed having her as a teacher.
This class was highly stressful, but the professor truly wants students to succeed. Her direct style, combined with generous support for those who try hard, is beneficial. Regular participation and attendance are key to reaping rewards by semester's end.
I don't remember anything specific about her, except that sometimes she would make some witty remarks and laugh at her own joke, but students were indifferent.
Great professor!! Wants you to know what you are doing and is willing to help as long as you want the help.
She is one of the best Professors. Her grading system is fair and clear. She really pays attention to her students and she explains one on one if you don't understand the course. The way she speaks to us is annoying but overall, she is really the best professor. She is very hilarious. Do your homework on time and ask many questions.
This professor laughs at her students when they ask questions, she confuses herself very easily, not well prepared and is NOT tech savvy even tho this is a fully remote course.
While her teachings are good, she lacks in understanding that us students are lost in the concept and just says to find out yourself. Also shows no mercy you miss a homework assignment it won't be opened anymore. Very strict with barely much help.
The professor is always prepared for class. She is readily available to answer questions. And she sees to it that we understand the lesson by approaching each student.
She just told us to watch the videos and explain the topics we didn't understand.
I wont recommend you guys to take this professor.Heavy lecture and Homework we are not robots it takes a while to understand accounting
Professor Richards can be direct, but her enthusiasm and desire for student success make the class rewarding. Engage with the material and use tools like unstuck AI to excel. Attendance is key.
She was often 10-15 minutes late but still deducted points for tardiness. She was sarcastic when students struggled, making it hard to ask questions. The class was very test-heavy, and tutoring wasn't very helpful. Her lectures were too slow or too fast, so I had to rely on the textbook and videos. She wasn't terrible but felt unprofessional at times.
She was very unprofessional. She made the class feel like a competition and I wasn't able to learn anything...
I took this professor during spring 2025 and she was just horrible! If you ask her any questions she will laugh and make you feel dumb. I was not able to process anything that she was teaching because she expects you to know everything. I dropped the class do yourself a favor and don't take her.
This professor has no understanding of what she's teaching her students. She expects us to know everything even on the first day. When students ask questions, she just gives wrong answer. I'm currently failing this class because of her and scared I'm going to fail my finals. I would advise you NOT to take her class if you're a first-year student!!
I would NOT recommend to take accounting 1 with her. She is a very tough grader, don't give you any assignments for extra credit and when you ask for help she answers you very sarcastic and makes fun of you. I fell I was taking a class with AI instead of a real professor. No consideration for students. Would not take her again.
