cool lady. explains herself well.
def NOT hot. boring as anything. annoying voice.. dropped 1st day
shes kinda boring.. but she explains herself well. real easy u only gotta write a paper for each book u read, however u dont have to read every bok cuz she goes over each one in detail during each class
GOOD TEACHER. VERY UNDERSTANDABLE. SHE IS PICKY WITH HER PAPERS, BUT SHE ALLOWS REWRITES AND IS VERY HELPFUL IF YOU ASK HER ADVICE.

Prof Kisor rocks. She is the coolest person that you could probably ever meet. Vey helpful with essays and just someone you can have a good conversation with. I recommend her. I plan on taking classes from her in the future SHE ROCKS THE HOUSE AT THE 'PO
Prof. Kisor makes her class interesting and interactive. Work is challenging, but not hard. She has readings every week that you write a paragraph on at beginning of each class. 5-6 papers throughout the term, not too demanding. She cares about her students, I'd take her again
KIND OF BORING BUT OVERALL EASY. FEW PAPERS NO TEST.
She's a nice person, very helpful, and a fair grader. You'll do well if you read the books and follow the assignment directions. The books are actually not that boring. She will help you with the essays if you e-mail her an outline. It can get a little boring when she reads selected passages aloud.
AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME. She is great!! So helpful. 4 short papers, easy term paper, Only test is the final and very easy. Just a short written essay. Interesting and doesn't get angry if you don't read. Very personable. Just make sure you don't plagarize. Some people got reported.
This lady is satan. all of you who think she is good are crazy. first off if you are a girl she'll grade you worse, she likes guys better, and you'll never get higher than a B+ no matter how hard you try, and if you rewrite she wont change the grade.
professor kisor is easy and laid-back, but the class is pretty boring. i haven't read since the midterm and i'm doing fine in the class. only 3 papers (3-5 pages). midterm is kinda hard but study and you'll be fine. it's true though-she definitely favors the guys...
Professor Kisor doesn't favor the boys in our class. She's very straight forward with her assignments, her midterm was a piece of cake if you kept up with the readings. She's funny and made an 8:05 class a joy to attend.
Boring and difficult class. She's receptive to alterations regarding assignments if you suggest them. She is really into Brit Lit and knows her stuff, but teaches AT you...doesn't make it interesting...
Sweet and nice lady, a lot of readings in her class. A few short papers, one that is an open topic. Midterm, final, and a presentation with a few other people. Allows rewrites, but there is a whole process to it. Helps u become a better writer, readings are somewhat interesting. Uses powerpoint in her lectures
Ok anyone who couldn't get an A... you are an idiot and probably a bad writer, deal with it. That doesn't make her a bad teacher. I have an A. She's very nice... sometimes the stuff is boring so I just bring work for another class or doodle to pass the time lol. She's not super easy but she is definitley not "satan"... worth taking :)
Isn’t the easiest professor in the world but as long as you actually work at what she suggests for you I can't imagine getting a poor grade. The topics are interesting enough however there are some that get rather tedious. She knows her stuff and as long as you come to class wanting to have a little fun, you’ll have it. Very nice woman as well.
Great class, great prof. The book is in Middle English, but its easy to find Modern translations for the stories on the net. Fun class...final project is fun and creative if you chose to go the creative side instead of the academic.
A lot of readings (not hard) and about six papers scattered throughout the semester.. very down to earth and discussions can be interesting. Also very helpful, approachable, and easy to contact if you need help. Definitely would take her again if I could.
Very interesting. Challenging, but not difficult. Good class.
Amazing teacher. So easy, though the assignments are kind of dumb. Middle English reciting isn't so tough. She'll give you a good grade as long as you try. I got an A and I ****ted the whole class. Easy teacher and very interesting.
her class is easy and you think you are going to get an A..except her she is a tough grader and doesnt like giving out a's...she lets you do rewrites on most papers...i wouldnt take her again cause she demands too much on a 100 level course
Hard work but she is approachable and will teach you something If you want to get it take her She is tough on the grading but lets you do papers over If you want to learn take her; if you want to skate by w/o knowing don't. Great teacher
She's not an easy grader...so if you want to coast by, she may not be for you. But if you actually want to LEARN something...this lady is brilliant. She has lots to say, and welcomes other opinions as well. Plus, she looks pretty good when she lets her hair down :)
avoid this class at all costs! WAAAYY too much work is thrown at you and it is impossible to absorb it all.
syllabus explains everything, she follows it religiously. all essays, lots of group work. very easy class if you do all they essays, shes really nice too. i reccommend it!!
she knows her stuff and is a fair grader. if you're willing to do the work and the readings, she'll help you. she understands that people have lives, didn't require any outside field trips or stupid things like that. you can really learn a lot from her if you listen. i did.
Very very hard grader - almost impossible to please, it would seem. Also, this is not a class for those not already an expert on LotR. Twice as much work as most Lit classes, but some of the stuff is quite interesting. Frustrating if you want an A, though. You probably won't get one. Not a class for coasters or LotR newbies whatsoever.
Your grade consists of 6 papers incluing a research paper and a final paper. U can revise almost every paper. But the revisions don't do much good since she is a VERY TOUGH GRADER. Its impossible to get an A on a paper. She makes you write a prompt in the beginning of class to make sure that you read. Attendance is mandatory. I wudnt recommend her
I have her for my Tolkien class this semester and think that she is a great Professor. The class is A LOT of work, the most I probably had in any of my classes. I agree that you should know a something about Tolkien, but I disagree about getting a good grade. I am not a Tolkien expert at all and managed to get As in two papers and the midterm.
if your looking for a fair class and a good grade STAY away from her. she is a horrible grader and unfair. she picks her favorites and you can tell early on who they are. its pretty impossible to get an A on a paper and yes she claims you can do revisions on papers but they dont do much. i wouldnt recomend her she put me through hell for no reason.
She is a awful teacher and very hard. Stay away from her
she's very nice and very intelligent. the class kind of dragged on because the discussions were boring. her papers were difficult.. you have to be a pretty good writer
Had her for a Tolkien class. It was very very clear from the the start that a) if you hadn't read everything already, you were screwed, b) if you weren't creepily obsessed, you weren't a favorite, and therefore c) were not likely to get an A. Impossible to please as a professor, but friendly as a person.
Took her for Shakespeare Plays, each class pretty much has the same format. Students bring in discussion questions and she answers them then we watch clips from different movies for the play we are working on. Not as bad a grader as people make her out to be. Good class, can be boring after a while.
Shakespeares Plays&Brit Lit were so much fun with her. She really knows the material and is such a bright professor. I loved her and would take her again anytime.
I've had her for SHAKESPEARE PLAYS and CHAUCER.The Chaucer class was great. As for Shakespeare...how can you choose 'Measure For Measure' over 'Hamlet'?'Henry IV Part I' over 'Henry V'?It seems to me she purposefully chose to teach obscure plays for the sake of teaching obscure plays.Extremely tough grader...to the point of being nit-picky.
Took her for Survey of Brit Lit and Shakespeare. She really knew her stuff and was very enthusiastic. She's a tough grader sometimes, but she's probably the sweetest woman on campus. I love her and I'm really going to miss her this semester. She made me feel very welcome at Ramapo and was there for me for some very difficult times.
I took her for Brit Lit which turned out to be a good course, though the papers were challenging at times. She knows her material and grades at times very difficult. If you aren't decently good at writing, you might have problems. But overall an excellent professor, I learned a lot from her.
Wonderful teacher! Cheerful, passionate about the subject and knowledgeable. If you like old brit lit, this is a great class. Not too hard, but a lot of reading.
Kisor is a good professor. Her voice is very intriguing and isn't boring it listen to. We have readings from the book every week. You should by the book. Everyday in class we have a prompt about the reading that was homework. No laptops allowed in class. She is a pretty tough grader but not impossible. There are about 4big essays that are worth 10 and 15% each. There are inclass midterms and finals. Don't take this class if ur looking for an easy A. You have to work for a good grade in this class
Kisor is a wonderful professor. She is helpful, enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and understanding. Indeed, she is a tough grader, but if you work hard on your papers and revise them, you will get a decent grade.
Great professor, interesting discussions. You can rewrite all of the papers except the last one, although I know I few people that did corrections but their grade didn't change.
FANTASTIC teacher. The class was a lot of reading, but a lot of really interesting discussion as well. Friendly, and super helpful. She always answered emails quickly, and really let the students have a voice in the class. I'm so glad I decided to take a class with her-I had always heard such great things, and it turns out they were all true!
She's a good professor. Had her for Brit Lit, which can get a little daunting, but she's so passionate and enthusiastic about what she teaches that it makes you interested. Definitely a hard grader, but if you want to improve your writing, you'll appreciate that. She can have a sharp tongue, but she's also very kind. Take her.
Okay, I took the Harry Potter class and it was AWESOME. Discussions were great, papers were interesting to write, all of that aside, this professor can be just plain mean sometimes. I agree that she's fair, but she gave me an attitude on more than one occasion and it kind of put a damper on the class for me. You can't make her happy as a professor
I took her for the Harry Potter class. She is very approachable and helpful and she gives great insight. We had some really cool discussions in this class, and the readings were awesome (Harry Potter, duh). The presentation and essay topics were really interesting too. Great professor, great class!
I took her Tolkien and Harry Potter course and loved both classes. Yes she is a hard grader- but does give insightful feedback on your papers and helps you out if you ask! The discussions and papers were interesting and she always found easy ways to engage the class. If you're not a huge fan of writing you may want to pass, otherwise take her!
Good teacher. Taught honors FYS, Fairy Tales. Reading is a must, but if you do what she asks of you, getting a good grade isn't hard.
Dr. Kisor is an excellent professor. I had her for her Fairy Tales honors first year seminar and the course material was a lot of fun. She is very knowledgable and her class is never boring or hard to follow. She assigned a lot of short readings that were easy to keep up with. There were small quizzes on the readings and a couple essays.
My first class with Dr. Kisor was her Medieval and Modern in Tolkien's Middle-earth class. It was a lot of reading, but that comes with any 300 level lit class. Engaging, interesting material, good discussions in class. Two papers (one using the OED) and a final paper. Blue book midterm & final. Had to work pretty hard but it was totally worth it.
Kisor is my favorite professor at Ramapo. Her passion is contagious! We had fairy tales and/or articles to read every week. The class is mainly discussion based. Easy quizzes every class just to see if you read. Three papers. She's a difficult but fair grader with clear expectations. She will ALWAYS help if you ask and is happy to look at papers.
Took her honors fairytales class, and though it was a lot of work, she was a great professor. We had readings for every class, and each class was everyone participating, not just her lecturing, which I liked. Three papers, long but not too bad. A quiz every class period, and a few smaller assignments. Overall, I would recommend her, she was great!
An amazing professor. She is super passionate about teaching and you can tell she really enjoys it. Learned a lot from her class and see fairy tales in a different light. Only two essays and a research paper, which are graded fairly and allows revisions to improve your grade.
The fairy tale theme wasn't really my thing - just a personal preference. There was a reading quiz every class, and 3 papers during the semester. Discussion based. Pretty tough grader on essays, but she lets you do revisions. Really helpful during office hours.
I love her so much! If you aren't willing to do the work, just forget it take another professor. What makes her so amazing is her passion for what she teaches and she is absolutely accessible outside class if you ever need help or would like to rewrite an essay. I took this class as a condensed writing intensive summer course and still love her!
I had Kisor for Readings in the Humanities course during a summer session (5 weeks). As a summer course there was a lot of reading in a short period of time and we read teh whole texts. Her lectures can be lengthy but they are very clear and she obviously knows her stuff and cares about your understanding of teh material. You can rewrite papers!
DO NOT TAKE. Half my class withdrew in the middle of the year, and of the half that stayed, not many did well. I have never seen a teacher seem like she actually wants kids to fail. I am a straight A, honor student and found it an extremely tough class. Tests are extremely hard and shell tell you one thing fir your papers and go back on it grading
She is a sub-par teacher. Despite other people saying they enjoy her, I found her rude and insensitive. She didn't seem to care about her students, but clearly enjoyed her subject. You must participate actively or she will give the entire class a pop quiz.
Once you understand how Professor Kisor grades, the class is definitely not a challenge. I learned so much in Fairy Tales, and the readings & projects assigned were always very interesting. She gives great feedback during office hours and on graded assignments, and she allows you to do corrections on your first two papers!
An unnecessary amount of work assigned- 3 papers, presentation, midterm, final, discussion questions, readings and 7 Harry Potter books. Class is discussion-based rather than a lecture on the literature itself. Pop quizzes based on what is different in the books and movies. Must know abstract and very specific knowledge. Do not recommend it.
This class has not structure and is simply an expensive bookclub. We have to read the entire series for this class. She gives pop quizzes on details that are not important. Most of the class time is used for discussion questions that the students write. She uses the last 5 minutes to talk about important things and goes over class time.
Wasn't excited about learning Fairy tales but she made the class more interesting than expected! Lectures can get kinda boring but readings are much more interesting than other classes. She HATES excuses so don't use them and stay on top of your work, if you do the short readings you'll be fine it's not a difficult class
Prof Kisor is very sweet and knowledgable. She taught my FYS class about fairy tales and it was a rather interesting topic. The work was very manageable and projects/papers were pretty spread out. As long as you read a majority of the fairy tales assigned you will succeed in this class. She grades papers pretty fairly and offers extra credit.
I had Prof. Kisor Fall 2020! She was very organized and helpful. We had to read several books regarding the epic hero. The big grades in this class are 1200-2700 word essays. I got a B because I procrastinated A LOT, my fault 100%! I would have gotten higher if I organized myself. We met 1-3 times a month. She is a hard grader. Super understanding!
I had Prof Kisor for Honors Fairytales FYS and I loved this class. The lectures could be dry at some points but if you enjoy the material they will be enjoyable regardless. We had 3 giant papers but GO TO HER OFFICE HOURS. She will give you the direction you need for an A. If you don't you probably will get a B or less. Lenient on daily quizzes.
If you like writing papers, then this class is for you. Discussions on canvas were the most we did in the class. Get ready to read.
Had Kisor for my honors FYS and she is one of the most caring educators I've encountered. The work she gives is not difficult, the only homework you have from day-to-day is reading a section of the textbook and writing a discussion question. The bulk of your grade comes from essays, but, if she likes your thesis, you're halfway there.
This is the class that got me into Lord of the Rings. Prof. Kisor really knows what she's talking about here. The medieval works are a bit dry, but they actually provide context to Tolkien's work. Yes, you get to watch the movies too. A lot of papers but that's expected for literature courses.
im begging you DO NOT take any class of hers that is longer than 90 mins. this class COULD have been good, but she's so self-indulgent in her knowledge on a given topic that she somehow manages to talk for 3 and a half hours with *barely* any room for discussion on the readings. she's also the most nitpicky grader i've ever seen.
Took this over the summer, it's hybrid. It's 4 books so clumped together in 4-5 weeks is a lot, but be sure to stay on top of things. She's super nice, but kind of boring so lectures are boring. The course goes by fast, but the assignments are fairly simple and she lets you revise your papers. Overall recommend but you can't slack off.
don't take this class over the summer, there is literally no time. u have to read 5 books and write about 5 papers. She doesnt post a rubric or anything and is extremely boring. Take someone else because u will not learn anything. all you do is write papers and she takes forever to respond.
This class was difficult, but professor Kisor is always available for help and gives great advice. She's super smart and inspirational. There is A LOT of reading but it is definitely manageable if you space out your time, and you basically have to read everything to pass this course.
Took her Arts and Humanities class over the summer and it was so fast-paced and difficult. There were so many essays and shes a harsh grader.
She assigns 100+ pages of reading twice a week! It's wild. Her classes are discussion based where you must write a discussion question which is not my style but classes go by quickly as they're pretty interesting.
Professor Kisor gives clear feedback. Although she is a tough grader, going to her office hours significantly improves your grade and performance. Her fairy tales include three main papers, a poster, a bibliography, and a presentation. There is +30 page of reading and discussion question for each day of class. Attendance is mandatory.
Overall, I really enjoyed this class, but this professor is a tough grader. Participation is a really big part of the course. The final is 3 parts but what I didn't like about the course is that pop quizzes were given. The syllabus does not state that assessment will given.
Don't take her, she's the worst english prof here. 3 papers, tough grader, 2 exams, SO much reading, and 2 presentations. so boring and she has this air of superiority that makes her insufferable to listen to. she yaps the entire 3 1/2 hours, and the material is so dense. rlly overwhelming courseload for a 200 lvl class, never wanna take her again
She has a superiority complex. She is not willing to understand anything, and she is also a tough grader. She assigns like 500 things a day on material that has no substance. She does not have the student's best interest in mind. It's like she wants to see everyone fail.
I took this class as an elective and it was the worst decision I could make. I'm a bio major and it brought my GPA down so much because the professor is such a tough grader. She talks for the entire 3.5 hours and isn't helpful at all.
I took HNRS 101 and I really enjoyed it. Professor Kisor is incredibly knowledgeable about all things fairy tales and class discussions were always interested. Keeping up with the readings is essential. She always gives such detailed feedback and is accessible outside of class. Loved it!
I would NOT recommend this class. She lectures the entire class from start to finish. Work in smaller groups to discuss and always share. There are essays spaced out through the course that have small descriptions/very unhelpful instructions. Which she then proceeds to grade extremely tough. It is unfair considering the lack of clear expectations.
She honestly was a terrible Professor she had a superiority complex and gave minimal instructions on assignments but graded very tough. Talked the entire class and even extra 0/10 would not recommend her class. Run for the hills
