He is very enthusiastic about teaching and he makes his lectures fun and interesting. When it comes to essays, he is very straightforward and clear about what he expects from the students. He grades the important essays very strictly so that grammatical and citation errors result in major point deduction. But still, I highly reccommend him.

This guy is awesome!!! I rearranged my whole schedule to be able to take his 102 class. He’s really clear and funny. If you get the chance take his class! P.S. He’s a stickler for grammar.

Benavidez teaches very good classes well, he is, good at teahcing englihs to I. I learned alot from him last semester, and I'm plan to, use this foundation, to improve; my future english classes will be easier. Because he is such a good teacher, and super hawt, professor benavidez teaches clearly in class. Everything is untangled now to him.

I'm soooo grateful I took Professor's Benavidez EN 102 class. English is not my best subject, but he helps you out no matter what. He truly care and classes are exciting and fun...never a dull moment...I highly recommend him!

Professor Benavidez has a very clear lecture. He has a fun personality and makes the class enjoyable. Grades strictly!! Watch your grammar. He may not take attendance based on your class, but show up because otherwise he will then not let you make up.

His class is pretty easy. As long as you have somewhat of a brain, you should do fine. He's pretty cool, a student himself, sometimes he shortens the length of essays (our 8 page paper was reduced to 5). Be sure you get on his good side, because it actually will affect your grade.

basically if u dont get on the good side of this guy he will give you the****tiest grade. he is one of those teachers. most young teachers are like that i have found because they dont know what it takes to be a good teacher yet. i mean if u goto clas and do the work it is not hard to pass just suck up to him because he cares. and he is not hot.

He's a wonderful teacher. He's upbeat and cares about his students. His lectures are a bit basic, and he uses the book a lot. But don't think because he's young he'll slack off. His class is fairly easy, and he only assigns about four papers. He's also a fair grader.

Wow! He's better than some teachers I've had who have been around for centuries. Really good at laying things out in a way students can easily understand. Class is exciting and interesting. He cares alot about his students academicaly and on a personal level. Encourages students to think and creates an innovative class environment. I'm out of space

He's cool, but he does NOT grade fairly. He grades based off his opinion of you. He does not acknowledge half his class either. As far as essays, there is very little preparation and build up for papers.

His lectures are very entertaining and he explains things very well but he's a little disorganized. It took me a while to figure out what my grade was for one of my essays.

Interesting class, but hard!!! He chooses two of your essay topics which makes it a bit harder! Somehow these topics are all related to him. Grades really tough! Half the class got F on the 1st essay! Many students dropped! He's really helpful though if you go to his office hours! Only take it if you're ready to work hard!!!

He is a harsh grader but honestly, he's one of the few professors at MC that gives students a taste of what professors over at the four year schools are going to be looking for. He is always willing to go over papers with you and help you in any way so that your next paper will be better. His class is vital for transfer preparation.

At first Zach came off as hard and unforgiving with most of the class failing the first paper.. As it went on though he brought out a clear understanding of the subject matter and was always willing to help anyone that didn't understand. As long as you stick with the class and write your essay's on time, you will have no problem passing this class

Relatable and humorous. Conveys material clearly. Takes attendance. Participation is important. Speak up and get on his good side. Very difficult grade-wise. Makes you struggle for an B. Attitude is generally positive and upbeat but also impulsive. Turn work in on time. Punctuality also very important. "Drama Queen" is an overstatement.

OMG! I love this class I look forward to it everytime. He gets your hooked and you forget you are learning! Hes funny at the same time. Im so taking 102! He takes time to read your work. =)

He's a very hard grader on the essays and they are the main grades in the course. He uses online feedback a lot so you have to be willing to participate in that. He teaches a well run class and since everyone has to take this course at MC, you could do a lot worse. He's not boring. Just be prepared to participate and work hard on your essays.

Never gotten lower than an A in English in my life, including En101A. Got a C. He is a ridiculously hard grader; it's actually unfair, because he prides himself on not giving A's. That said, he's a good teacher. So decide if you want a well taught class and a low grade, b/c that's the trade-off. I enjoyed his class & am not sorry I took it

To sum it up, he is the best professor I have ever had. This is a REAL college professor.

One of the best professors ever!! Makes class extremely enjoyable! Very charming, funny, and witty. Makes his grading standards very clear; you can earn an A, but you must do the work. Highly recommended!

I really like this dude, hes young, and he likes to relate to his students. if he makes a nickname for you, he likes you...but yea i look forward to class, BUT make sure you e-mail your papers when he tells you!!! and his syllabus is very useful and very needed it has all the answers. he is very open to help you out like to help you edit your paper

Took 101 & 102 with him. Hes an awesome teacher-very helpful, fun, interesting. He told us he doesn't like 101, but loves 102! (i recommend 102 more)Pushes your limits.Helped me to write better. Turn in everything on time (especially with e-mailing & posting!), participate in class, work hard, and ask him for help you'll do fine :)

Great teacher- will help any student succeed. With proper commitment and attendance anyone can get an A/B in his class. Really enjoyed his class.. he makes every session more fun than the last.

He comes across as rather eccentric with a zany sense of humor, but that's just his shtick: If you don't waste his time, he won't waste yours. If you're willing to apply yourself and work hard, you'll pass this class with no problems. Great perspectives on writing and I learned a lot from this class. Best teacher I had at MC, hands down!

He is funny and interesting, but he definitely requires a lot of work for this class. He never let us leave a second early, even if class was over and was really strict on attendance (you can only miss once). I liked him as a teacher, I just don't think creative writing should ever be your hardest, most demanding class... He's intense on it.

haha... yea def weird but .... he is one of the bestest teachers at MC. Hes very helpful and very passionate about what he does... i missed like 20 days and failed his class ... but he STILL tryed to help me pass. Lazy me didnt try though... but he would have passed me if i HAD tried. I triple recomend him!

Prof Benavidez is probably one of the most amazing teachers I have ever had. He is so adoarble with his hair & his wardrobe and he is extremely funny. His class is not hard at all and he is extremely intelligent and passionate about his work. I highly recommand his class. I enjoyed everyday in that class

An awesome teacher. His classes were always interesting and interactive. If you're respectful and keep an open mind, it's pretty easy to get along with him. He's not an easy grader, but if you're willing to put in the effort, an A isn't impossible. I'd take him again if I ever get the chance.

He's a good teacher, he may sound **** but just go along with the flow and you'll do fine! he's essays are not bad either, gives you enough time to write them, hw is a little bit too much but i took this class in summer, overall if your passionate abt ur work, its easy to get an A

I took his 102 class in the summer, but he was an amazing teacher. He's super helpful and explains everything really well. Just do the work in his class and pay attention. You'll do just fine. Highly recommend him. :)

he's cool to everyone, granted he did have his picks of favorites& pets. He's crazy about attendance. He likes the guys more. Lots of reading. Overall, a great guy. He does kinda judge ppl and make his own profile about the kids in class. teachings are insightful.

Prof. B Is honestly an amazing human being. He may be quirky but don't let that get in the way of realizing what an amazing teacher he is. He truly cares about bettering you as a writer. Our class was like a family. It was amazing! Take this man's class; you'll never forget it.

Awesome teacher. If you want to learn Benavidez is the teacher to do just that. Has a great sense of humor, and always makes class fun. Assignments are difficult and he will challenge you, but if youre willing to put in the work and you want to develop your writing skills, he is the teacher to take.

Professor Benavidez is the best of the best! Take him if you want to learn AND get an A! I cannot recommend him more enthusiastically. He is crystal clear on what he expects and wants in assignments, and even provides student samples as references! He's there for you, as long as you come into the class with the mindset that you will do your best!

he is a great teacher! he's funny and open about his sexuality but you get use to it. I enjoyed his class and i will be taking him again nest semester for 102. he can be a tough grader so you have to work for your grade. dont plan on just skipping this class and expecting to pass. he is clear about what he wants and when he wants it. awesome teache

great prof. he taught the class very clearly and was very open with his sexuality. our class always covered very interesting topics, like Hurricane Katrina victims and about other personal matters. He has a cute little dog named Molly that looks like a miniature lion. He is a fun and entertaining. Do the work and you will recieve an A like me :)

218 Fantastic professor if you like English definitely take him. Be on time classes are mostly group discussion so it really interrupts class when you're late and it will count towards your attendance. He really encourages you to express your own ideas, notices when you put in effort and show interest which will reflect in his attitude toward you

Very chill professor. Easy going. Makes class interesting and fun. Took him for the summer so it was easy. Only had 3 essays. Reasonable. I would definitely recommend him and take him again

Benavidez is AWESOME! Our lit class consisted of a few stories we had to read each week and pose questions about. The entire class is a discussion style and the talks we have as a class are amazing. 1 midterm paper, 1 final paper.

Great professor. Hands down my favorite at MC. Very involved with students and excellent discussions take place in his classes which I strongly think more teachers should do.

I took him for EN101 & his class was very fun to be in. He was very funny but also strict at times but reasonable for it. We did do about 5 Essays but they weren't too hard, & we only read 1 book. Overall really great class! I highly recommend! He keeps the class very interesting.

I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE professor Benavidez. He really cares about his students, and genuinely loves his job. He is understanding to everyone's different needs (IEP, work, etc.). He is hilarious, very open, and you will never be bored.

I loved his class. Compared to my high school English teachers he was amazing. He'll help you as much as you need as long as you take time and go meet him during office hours but don't expect him to spoon feed you. I definitely recommend him

Zach has passed away, but I will always remember his dedication. His kindness. How he pushed me to be the best student that I could be. How he believed in me. Zach was a special teacher.
