Took Eng Comp I. Make sure you follow the essay format to a T.. it doesn't matter if your paper is dull, just make it mechanical, and proper. Getting anything above a 90% on essays is damn near impossible. He's not a bad teacher.. just wants students to always improve, and grades low to make you strive for better on the next essay.

Professor Hyde is somewhat strict in a good way and hate cellphones. We did not buy any book for this class, just the small reading book with essays. Make sure to do assignment that he assigns on the schedule. Professor Hyde is somewhat stricter than other professor I have had in Valencia but in a good way. He demands respect and HATES the use of cellphones in his class (so if you have a habit of texting, you'll be in the wrong place) Oh and please be on time in class everyday! Great great great teacher. He grades simply he tells you what he takes points off for and tells you how to fix it. Overall if you just put a little bit of effort into the class and know your grammar then this will be an easy class for you. Readings will all be online and he gives a good time frame to do all work. Took his class over the summer. Got a B. One of the best professors I've had throughout my college experience. He is very clear on what he expects from you. Great in-class discussions. He is a hard grader on the essays, but trust me you WILL BECOME A BETTER WRITER AFTER HIS CLASS.

he is really cool and straight forward, you get to miss 4 classes before you get a penalty. you do short answer assignments and 4 papers. ALL VERY EASY. he lets you re write one paper and he has office hours and he will look at your work and tell you what you need to change in order to get an A. really good experience. The class I took was a combination of Freshamn Comp II and Film. We watched movies and did a simple response to each. When it comes to the papers he will grade you FAIRLY, though it may seem harsh it is the grade you deserved. If you like writing or are interested in improving your writing, I recommend professor Hyde.

Professor Hyde is amazing. He makes witty jokes and comparisons for the class. Everything you do is valuable there is no busy work. He grades really fairly and always makes himself available to students. If he wasn't married I would totally try to date him, hes super funny and cute! Take his class!

You get back what you put into this class. The final paper was long, but if you choose something you care about, it won't be a big deal. Attendance is mandatory.

Probably the best professor I've ever had. Very clear in what he demands on essays and readings, and engages the whole class in discussions. He grades very strictly but he will always tell you exactly what you need to do to get a better grade on the next essay. My favorite part about his comp class was that he focused on films. We watched multiple movies in class and then had to write short answer assignments and papers for each. He gives very clear instructions on what he wants in each paper and will answer any questions via email. He's funny and I would definitely take him again.

Professor Hyde's ENC 1101 was one of the best classes I have taken because he really put effort into making the class organized, interesting, and helpful. Although there are a few papers, Hyde gives great instruction and help when needed. The information I learned in this class has helped me with all my future classes. I highly recommend him.

I took this course as a 6 week course and It was the hardest thing I've ever done. I thought I was about to fail the class since I had a C on my first paper, but I had Supplemental Learning and it really helped me recover back with the only 1 rewrite he gives you, a 90. Then on my second paper I had an A also. The last paper was my final.

Really enjoyed taking this class for comp 1. He teaches you everything you need to learn in order to get a good grade on the papers. Always in a good mood and ready to get the class started, doesn't mind if you have questions in the middle of the lecture. The short answer assignments help you improve your writing skills.

Great professor. I took him for the summer B term and I learned so much in just six weeks. All the assignments are interesting and easy. I would take him again. There are no test just essays and short responses. He gives excellent lectures and one rewrite. Its impossible to fail unless you're lazy.

Do yourself the favor and take his class. If you're like me and will actually time manage your 3 papers and aim to do your best you'll pass. Other than the 3 papers we ended up having around 10 short answer assignments. He's really nice, entertaining, and funny. But don't an idiot and be on your phone the whole time or miss class a lot.

AWESOME TEACHER! The class exceeded my expectations tremendously. I felt forced to take it for Humanities credits, but ended up learning a lot and enjoying myself. He is very helpful and HILARIOUS. He is a tough grader that means you really have to work hard and write good papers and put in the effort. There are 3 main papers and almost 10 short answer assignments. Go to his office hours and the SL sessions they help a lot and you'll be fine.

His 8:30am is so worth it- he's straightforward about due dates, homework, what he wants from you in papers. I eventually went to see him a few times a week about my paper because I really did value his opinion. There are a total of three papers and short answer assignments through out the course. Its a film based class. Most films are strange at least to me but he teaches amazing and is always available through email or office hours if you have any questions. There is an SL leader. She is also available for questions and holds sessions. 10/10 professor!

I've taken Professor Hyde twice now and every semester he is the best professor I have. You can reach him through email or office hours and he's always available before and after class, plus the SL is super sweet and great. The class isn't really hard, so long as you pay attention and listen to what he says, you will be fine.

Professor Hyde was a great english teacher. He has fun prompts and the first 2 essays were only 2-3 pages. The last one was 5 pages, which still isn't bad. I would say he grades fairly. Just do all your assignments and you will be fine. Attendence is not crazy important but he will do random pop quizzes if he feels no one read or shows up.

This class was an absolute joy to take. I feel like Prof. Hyde really cares that I do well and that I actually learn what he's trying to teach. I have been having trouble getting back into the swing of academic writing, and I feel much more competent after this class.

Despite having a really crappy final exam experience I really enjoyed the class itself. Highly recommend it for anyone who loves film. Professor gives great feedback on all writing assignments. My only complaint is that I never received a response after multiple attempts to communicate about my final grade.

In in love with his subject, LONG readings, will get back to you if you email him. However class comes off a bit pompous and Hyde has come off a bit cross a couple times. Feels like he loves literature so much that he's throwing difficult texts, but fails to help the student bridge the gap between their level of writing and his. Took class online.

Their were a total of three essays. The first two essays were on average three pages. The final essay is about 5 pages long. The class was made up of short answer assignments regarding the films we watched in class. If you ever need help on any assignment you can e-mail him and he reponds very quickly.

There are three papers and many short answer assignments that are usually about 300 words in length. There are lots of reading assignments, although most of them are fairly short and manageable. Professor Hyde is very knowledgeable about film and much of the class consists of watching movies and discussing film. I would recommend for film majors.

i was a bit nervous at first as I saw that he was a tough grader. yet he is pretty clear and to the point. I took his LIT 1000 class as a fast track course. every week we either had a quiz or a discussion post. I didn't think it was too bad. some concepts were a bit difficult but he helped. emailed back on weekends as well

The class was not impossible to take, he was very descriptive in the expectations for the assignments. There were many discussion assignments as well as quizess, but that is because I took an accelerated version of the course. I learned very much and his feedback was very informing. He is very dead set on the deadlines, and has passion for topic.

The best literature professor I've ever had. He actually gives feedback on my writing and doesn't just hand out A's. I'm actually improving my skills. I take it online & don't mind the weekly discussions. quizzes aren't that hard. Make sure to analyze texts properly and put effort into your work. He knows his stuff, so should you.

No textbook, you need 2 normal books. Pretty much only discussions based off of the reading and quizzes. Class has lots of structure. Nothing is confusing about due dates or assignments. Final is based of off the quizzes throughout the semester. Really nice professor and super helpful with everything. I missed a lot of discussions, don't do that.

Professor Hyde is easily my favorite professor of all time. I had him for both Contemporary literature and Survey of English literature, and he was fantastic in both and remembered me when taking my second course with him. He is very quick about replying, incites really interesting discussions, and is so incredibly accommodating.

We watched movies for two weeks straight to write a paper about it. He enjoys talking about film so be ready to analyse commercials and movies. His outlines for papers are clear and easy to understand. He gives feedback on specific things in all of your papers and helps you improve those areas.

Professor Hyde grades fast, gives helpful constructive criticism that actually helps, and has a clear grading criteria that tells you almost exactly what he expects. However, he is a tough grader, definitely not an Easy A, barely any extra credit and a hard final. If you focus and communicate with him about any confusion its actually worth taking.

Lots of writing in this class but the material isn't too tough. He teaches english concepts by having you analyze film, so you get to watch movies and write about them. If you're detail oriented and can apply english vocab words and the like to an essay, you're essentially guaranteed a B or higher.

Prof. Hyde set clear expectations from day one, and he definitely upheld them. Discussions and quizzes, with one paper as a final. GREAT texts to read, I think this was my favorite aspect of the class because the poems and texts were very relevant to what was being taught! Also really easy to talk to and wants to help you pass! I 100% recommend.

The class is very easy and is an easy A. In Each module, he gives one quiz and the following week one 250 word discussion post with replies. He gives one assignment per week with optional extra credit. He does not accept late work but it's fine since it's only one assignment a week. He does use books but you can find the readings online using pdf.

Online. Really good Professor and really straight forward class. We went through a different aspect of literary analysis every three weeks or so. There was usually a quiz one week, a discussion the next week, and then a short answer (expects around a page) the next week. If I ever got points off I completely understood why. Very prompt grader.

I took ENC 1101 for the first half of the spring semester and ENC 1102 for the other half. I was afraid it would be overwhelming, but it wasnt. Every week was 1-2 short story readings, a short textbook reading, and a discussion. Theres one essay due every other week. He provides all readings online so you dont have to buy a book which is a plus

All assignments are graded differently, with 6 total group discussions, 4 of which are optional for extra credit. 4 modules, each has an easy quiz and short answers, and a text selection assignment. Two textbooks, one poetry, and one short story (that are pretty long). Gives amazing feedback. Uses the MLA format.

Amazing professor, the content discussed in the class was relevant to the course and he even tried to tie it into student lives. I took a 10-week course and there was definitely more than your average workload which is expected. He also grades exactly to the rubric he provides, as long as you submit every assignment given its an easy class.

Easy class but a harsh grader. He reduced points when I used "tv" instead of "television" & for using "an unnecessary comma" . But overall, the class, assignments, & discussion boards are easy. Most of the answers to questions for module tests are in the module for the week & some are on quizlet. Had no more than 3 assignments due for the week.

I took ENC 1101 & 1102. This was my first college class so I did not know what to expect but he was a great teacher. I had him once a week and took both classes in 1 semester which was great. We read at most 2 short stories a week and a short answer assignment ever other week. You have 2 major papers but it's all clearly written in the rubric.

I took ENC1101 and ENC1102 in one semester. For what it was, it was worth it. The amount of work given is not too heavy, as it is either a short answer response w/ replies or an essay. I did about 5 total essays for both classes. He can be a tough grader, pointing out every little thing, but he doesn't knock off much or any points for it.

He's strict when it comes to his grading. He has high expectations and if you let him down you won't have a chance to make it up.

I loved his class. Especially when I hear about other English comp 2 classes I'm glad i chose this one. We write on literary works like in other English classes, but the only difference is that we write on movies. Some days in class all you have to do is show up and watch a movie, they were very interesting and unique movies i had never seen before
