It is open book quizzes and tests. No homework aside from weekly quizzes. Tests and quizzes are open online all weekend.
Dr. Schulz is the best professor EVER!!! He really cares about his students, and he really wants everyone to learn History and succeed! His lectures are so much fun, and I hated History until I took his class! His quizzes and exams are all online. You do use the textbook on the exams. I love his class so much I will be taking him for HIST 1020
Dr. Schulz is the best teacher! He makes his lectures really fun. He is my favorite teacher and I want to sign up for his history 2 class next semester. Its really easy to make an A in his class, just keep up with deadlines and you will do fine. Test and Quizzes are online.
Schulz was the best professor I have ever had! I took Hist 1010 last fall here and had to drop due to many issues, with one being the professor. Since taking this course with Schulz, I have truly began to love history! He makes everything hilarious and is definitely a professor to take.
If you have to take history TAKE HIM. will be taking for 1020. so easy and entertaining. do not take another professor!!
Really funny guy, really enjoys what he does and makes whatever hes talking about interesting. Really likes hedgehogs, dogs, cats, and his wife. Never a boring class.
So easy, such a legend. You do not really need the book, just use his powerpoint.
Tests and quizzes are open book and are open over the weekend. A lot of the material comes straight out of his powerpoint. Engaging lectures and is easy going. Would definitely take again.
Easily one of the most passionate, and entertaining professor I have ever encountered. I would highly recommend taking his class over all others. I would, however, recommend the book because it gives better detail into the chapter, something you will need for the open book tests.
One of the most enjoyable classes I have ever been in. Each lecture is very interesting and if you show up and pay attention, the tests are super easy.
Hes not your typical history teacher. He does everything right. Test are pretty straightforward based on lecture and book. He has no filter when it comes to the lectures.
Very entertaining guy. Made history super interesting. Would take again 10/10
If show up to class and take notes, there's no way you won't do well in this class. I personally hate history, but he makes it enjoyable. Def taking this class for history 2.
Easiest Class ever. Easy A.
Dr. Schulz is a great lecturer with a wild sense of humor. I cannot recall a day of class this semester that I haven't laughed at something funny he did or said. Schulz is a highly open minded person who makes history entertaining. The presentism references really help me understand what we are learning about. This is who you want for an easy A.
Great teacher. Super entertaining. Understands not everyone is a history major and is taking it because they have to. All quizzes and tests online. If you take notes you will guarantee get a 100, but you can get a 80 with just the power points online. Easiest and most interesting class I have taken. TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN!!!
If you have the opportunity to take his class, DO IT! He is my favorite professor that I've had over my 3 years at Auburn. All the tests and quizzes are online and are straight from lectures and powerpoints. I have made almost a 100 on every quiz and high As on each test. He is absolutely hilarious and definitely makes learning history enjoyable.
Great class highly recommend him for history !! Wont regret it :)
Attend class, take good notes, read your textbook, you should be great. Skip class, don't take notes, you will be hurting. Very straight forward, would take again. :-)
HILARIOUS lectures! I hate history, but he makes it interesting. Must take!
Made my semester 30% more enjoyable. I would have been far more stressed and far more depressed had I not taken his class.
Please Take him. Easy Easy Easy A. You NEED to read the Book. Great Lectures. Quizzes and Tests are from Notes and Tests.
the best out there. you should not read other student. take from me. i took 1020 with other teacher is so bad even though he considers one of the goods.
great and easy course, 100% take this course. it is super easy and he makes class interesting because he is very smart and knows what he is talking about. all the quizes and exams are online and he gives you the whole weekend to do them
by far my favorite class so far at auburn and the best professor I've had. History is hard for me and I finished with an A that didn't require crazy amounts of studying. Everything is online and based off lectures and the book. 1000% would take this course again
His class is very fun. It is easy to pass his class. Most of knowledge you will use can be found in PPT. Pay attention to normal homework. It not hard. But it is not easy to move up your grade if making too much mistakes in normal homework.
Best history professor! Passionate & knowledge about history & entertaining. Warning:a lot of profanity in lectures so if youre easily offended by that then dont take. Class is all lecture w/ a quiz each weekend and 3 tests online-MC & no time limit. Based off of mainly textbook and also lecture. Usually ends class early. Easy A if u try a little
(HIST 1020) Great professor, that cares about his job and students. Gives you about 12 quizzes throughout the year online. All tests are taken online. Easy A if you do the little work he gives you and you go to class. You wont regret taking his class! Gives extra credit at end of the year.
Dr. Schulz is the best history teacher I have ever had! He takes attendance, so if you show up to class and take notes and try you will do great in this class! If lectures arent for you and reading the textbook is how you learn then go for it. All of the tests and quizzes are online so either method of learning the material works. A true GOAT!
Take Professor Schulz!! Hes the best. He makes history fun and his lectures are funny. All of his test are online.
Literally the best professor I have ever taken. If you can, get him. 11/10 honestly. You have a quiz every weekend and its online and you have the whole weekend to do it. All the test are online and the questions come from the quizzes. His lecturers are honestly hilarious too. What a guy
I hate history. Took it with him, still hate history. BUT he made it actually interesting and really funny. Take notes, raed your book, ya good. Worth it.
Dr. Schulz was a really awesome professor. His class was really interesting, but not hard. ALL tests were online. Powerpoints were given. Attendance was mandatory, though, so make sure you're there. But if you came to him about needing to miss class, he was always really understanding. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. DEFINITELY WILL TAKE HIM AGAIN FOR HIST 1020
Very easy class. He gives great lectures. The quizzes/tests are based strictly off of lectures and the powerpoints. Text book is required but very easy to follow along.
He sets you up for success, and he really does care about his students. If you show up to class and pay attention you will do well.
When I had an issue, outside of class, he was totally willing to work with me so I didn't fall behind. Never met a professor like him. Totally worth taking.
Dude gives amazing lectures. Super funny. Must take! :)
Kind and caring. He makes the class easy to pass but you have to go to classes and dont fool with his class rules or you will be in trouble. Very nice and generous!
A GOD. Excellent lectures, easy enough to pass, just follow his easy rules. Rock star professor!!!!
Interesting class. Just go to all the classes, pay attention, and take notes and you'll be good.
This is a pre-rec and he took it way too serious
Great class! He sets you up to succeed and really cares about students.
Everything is done online. Lecture slides are available for you to get ahead of class. Take good notes, don't skip class, and you are golden. Would definitely take him agian.
All of the quizzes and tests are online and all of the information basically comes out of the book. They are also unlimited time and you have 3 days to take them. The only thing is he takes attendance but if you email him a reason why you missed he'll excuse it cause he's chill. Really good teacher if you want an easy history class.
History is my WORSE subject. I hate it! So, when I took it with him, I was geared up for a painful class. He made it interesting!!@! Lectures are fun, he was willing to help me out in his office houyrs, and even if I still don;t like history, I did find his class really cool and really insgihtful! DEFINTELY TAKE A COURSE WITH HIM!!!
Professor Schulz is one of the best professors I've ever had in college. He's extremely nice and gives good feedback on tests. His quizzes are pretty easy if you read the assigned chapters. His lectures are long sometimes but they definitely aren't boring. I wish I could take his class forever.
The best!
Professor Shulz makes history fun. I have never had such an interesting class.
Teacher lectures were weird, and he yelled a lot. His quiz/test questions werent from lecture and were hard to find. was the only B i got this semester, and im taking 18 hours. This is a pre-rec, should have gotten an A.
Tests and quizzes based on book. Lextures cover same stuff and some fun facts. Easiest history class. Dude really has a passion for history anf cares abput his students!
Prof schulz isnt super hard. Open book exams and tests. But you will hqve all weekend to work on them online. Attendance is taken and he will fail you if you skip too many. But all he needs is an email saying you wont be there. Dont cheat, and dont fake attendance sheets (some did in my class and he totally owned them!), you are gold.
I took his classes as a first and second semester freshman. I love history but doc Z's lectures were crazy awesome and he asked for students to particiapte. He is super entertaining and keeps your attention the whole class. By far my favorite professor and my favorite class.
Prof Schulz is without a doubt the best professor I ever had at Auburn. He's knowledgeable, funny, and cares about his students. He allows you to use your book and notes on quizzes and tests and is always fast to reply to any emails. He makes every lecture worthwhile with his humor and style of explaining things. I loved him. Highly recommended.
Zachary Schulz is the most sincere isntructor at Auburn UNiversity. Zach has a positive vibe about everything and really puts his heart and soul into educating about history. Totally respectful of students time, so long as they aren't being disrespectful during his lectures or by cheating. Take his class. You won't regret it.
TAKE HIS CLASS!!!! TOTALLY WORTH IT!!! Dude is a class act. 5 stars! TAKE HIS CLASS!!!!! TOTAL CLASS ACT!!!! BEST EVA!!!!
He is an engaging and interesting speaker who has alot of excitement about his topics. The class had three exams and ten quizzes. All are multiple choice and not that difficult if you have your book and took notes in class. He takes care to remember students, even greeting me by name if we pass on campus. Fun to listen to and fascinating.
I took Dr. Schultz's world history 1 and 2 classes. He is really smart and knowledgeable on the topics. Grading is very fair, everything based on multiple choice and matching. Quite reading heavy and lectures matter. I found this class to be hard at first, but finished with an A. He is really funny and gives great lectures. I really learned a lot.
A great teach who cares about students. Relaxed class and the topics covered are presented with fun and are enjoyable. Go to class and take good notes, the tests are not too difficult.
Schulz taught HIST1010 and 1020. Taking notes is a good idea in his class because some info isnt in the book and will be on the tests. Tests are in Canvas and multiple choice, with open book. They can take awhile if you want full marks, but there is no time limit.
Mr. Schulz was a great professor and was very funny. He can be a bit challenging. Its important to take good notes on the powerpoints that he uploads and to just study. It was a little hard to take some notes in class since he talks pretty fast but he does let you record him. Powerpoints are on Canvas and the entire class is open book.
No excuses for not doing well. The tests are easy, the quizzes are study guides for the tests. There is some reading, and some notes are needed from lectures, but nothing too bad. Very interesting lectures.
I've had him in 2 classes now. Questions are always welcome during lecture and he tries to make it entertaining. Genuinely nice and very knowledgeable. I cannot adequately express how excited I am going to his lectures!
Prof. Schulz makes history interesting. Easy class, good lectures, what more do you want?
I've had some really boring history classes that are STUPID hard. This is not one of them. Do your tests and quizzes (all online!), take some notes, and go to class. You will be entertained and you will learn something. FIVE STARS!!!
He spends SOOOOO much energy in lecture to make history fun. Totally needs to teach more c lasses. WE LOVE YOU DOC Z!!!!!!
Easy A. Worth taking. Entertaining.
Dr. Schulz may not be the best teacher of all my professors, he is clearly the best person I have had as my professor. He's very to the point and direct, but he will be very understanding when you have an issue and he will work with you to fix it.
BEST TEACHER EVER!! i usually hate history but he makes it exciting. His personality is infectious so its hard not liking him lol. Just show up to class and dont plagiarize is all he really asks of you really. Dont take his kindness for weakness because he shows who's boss! Take him 1000/10!!
Tests are kinda hard but overall good experience
he lectured too fast, and gave no type of extra help
honestly changing my major from history to building science because he ruined history for me
i had to drop because i was failing. his weekly tests/quizes are too hard
I think the good reviews on here are a lie... hes the WORST
He yelled so much
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
There are so many better history teachers at auburn... dont take him
I am not a history person, but he is very passionate about what he teaches and really cares about his students. I took him for history 1 & 2 and he made the class more difficult second semester, but as long as you go to class and have the book an A is possible. Pay attention to videos and if you miss class just let him know and it will be excused.
Very eccentric and open about his thoughts, but at the end of the day is a funny guy. If you are conservative his honesty is a little bit of a shock, but it isn't a bad thing. Obviously is actually interested in what he is teaching, and makes his students interested too. Quizzes and tests are online. Make sure to read the book, and take notes.
Indeed, quiz and text are both on canvas, and the professor is very funny. But I can tell you that quizzes and exam are comes from the details in the textbook (including some item's definitions that you may easily ignore). Therefore, I would suggest that someone who familiar with every detail in textbook to choose this professor.
He's very energetic and outgoing. Tries to make lectures interesting. Gives attendance quizzes but drops lowest two. Only reason i showed up to class was strictly for attendence quizzes. The tests are online but HAVE TO READ TEXTBOOK bc tests are extremely specific. take tests in groups is recommended. He consistently gives encouragement.
Tests and quizzes are all online and not too difficult if you pay attention in class and take notes. Lectures are very entertaining and informative. Attendance isn't mandatory but random attendance quizzes are given throughout the semester and you could miss 2 without it affecting your grade.
TAKE HIM! all the quizzes and exams are online and most of questions you can found answers on text book. Very easy. he is very outgoing and love to act in class. he do attendance, but allow you skip 4 times. you don't necessary listen to him in class, my friend play games all time and he got a A(94).
Dr. Schulz genuinely cares about students and his job. He lectures very well and communicates the topics energetically. There are quizzes every weekend but they are on canvas and you can do them with your book and notes and they aren't extremely difficult.
Dr. Schulz is probably my favorite professor I have had so far! He is very funny and makes lectures very fun. You need to attend class for the notes because of details and attendance quizzes that are random, however his teaching makes you always want to go! Wish i could take again!
Dr. Schultz is a great professor, lectures are interactive and fun, but I wouldn't say the lectures has a lot to do with quizzes and exams. Exams are all online. Make sure you read the book and use your book when taking quizzes and exams, because the questions are pretty detailed and might not be covered in class. An A is easy.
Dr Schulz is awesome! Tests and quizzes are based off of lectures and book readings and are fairly easy if you take good notes and pay attention. All grades are online (except pop attendance quizzes) and are easy to pass. He is funny and intelligent, even if I personally disagree with some of his politics/views of history. Great man to learn from!
Take him if you can. He's a wonderful professor who actually cares about you learning something more than just getting a grade. Has random attendance quizzes, one online quiz per week, and 3 tests online over the weekends (no final). His lectures are very easy to listen to, and he emphasizes thinking about history from all perspectives. 10/10
Great Instructor, probably my favorite one by far. His lectures are worth coming to every day. Online tests and quizzes (easy if you read and go to class), and ten attendance quizzes. Doesn't round, but did give the chance to get extra points if the class evaluated. Truly cares for his students and reminds them that one grade does not define you.
Dr. Schulz was a really great professor. Attendance quizzes are given almost weekly, but you never know when they're coming. I don't know how people passed this class without listening, lots of quiz/test answers in the lecture information. Using the book is important, but I just utilized the index well on the quizzes. Can take things In groups!
Attention, this is the most unbaised common to this class! Get ready to read the whole book in order to take quiz and exam. Your grade will not round (even if you are 79.99%) and randomly attention is taking weekly. Taking his class means you have to taking many times in reading the textbook. Thinking third before tkaing him!!!
I loved Dr. Schulz and his class so much. He makes his lectures so interesting and fun. You must read the book to good on quizzes and tests and you need to go to class for attendance quizzes and notes on what he says. If you do those things, you'll do great in the class. This man really cares about his students and encourages them.
Schulz is hands down one of my favorite professors at this University. He cares probably more than any other teacher I've had. He is deeply invested in what he teaches and truly loves teaching. Outstanding guy. I am honestly mad that people abused his online test policy, he's so much more than that. Read the chapters, they honestly aren't hard.
AWFUL! No clue why his reviews are good! I took this class because of the good reviews he has had but those reviews are complete lies! He talks extremely fast so you cant understand what he says, which makes it impossible to take notes. His test are extremely difficult and go into way to much detail on random history facts. 10/10 do not recommend!
Is he easy? No. Does he care about his students? Yes. Dr. Schulz is the BOAT. Funny, records all lectures so you can watch them again before taking quizzes and tests, he makes history actually fun. Favorite class this semester. Must take!
He talks fast in his lectures but posts recordings online each week. All quizzes and tests are through HonorLock and you can use your book/notes. Random attendance checks (usually once weekly) but drops 3 of your lowest scores. Strict on deadlines but really loves his students and genuinely wants you to succeed. Easy class if you put in the effort
Dr. Schulz is a great guy and an awesome professor. He is such a goofball in class and talks super fast during lectures and sometimes you can't tell his stories apart from the course material but he posts all his lectures online. You absolutely have to read the textbook if you want to pass this course but it's not bad. Dr. Schulz genuinely cares.
Auburn needs to move this man up in the tax bracket. He is probably the best lecturer in the College of Liberal Arts, maybe on the entire campus. There is no shenanigans, he gives you the information that you need to know and he uses a collegiate vocabulary. If you like learning and making good grades sign up for his class, you won't regret it.
He can be rude. His class only has 3 test and. that is basically all your grade. No bonus opportunity. Would NOT round. an 89.9 to an A.
Attendance isn't mandatory but you need 8/10 attendance quizzes that are random throughout semester. He gives really great lectures so take notes. Open note/textbook quizzes each week and same for when there are tests. He's really funny and I'd 100% take him again. Trust me TAKE HIM
Reading quizzes every week, 3 tests, 10 attendance quizzes (drop two lowest). All open book, open note, and online over the weekends. Dr. Schulz is entertaining, he cares, and he tells you exactly what you need to know for tests/quizzes. Best professor I have had so far. :)
Dr. Schulz is super nice. Every week since the pandemic started he sends emails about dealing with stress, checking in with us, and having a kind word. None of my other professors even care. I wish we had more like him.
Not a bad class. Professor Schulz really wants his students to succeed and is always open for feedback. All tests and quizzes are online and proctored so there is less stress for the student. Lectures are a bit scattered, and he tends to go on tangents, but he also posts a condensed lecture without jokes or videos on canvas as well. Do the work.
Dr. Schulz is a super nice guy. Really cares about students doing well and knows the material well. Tests and quizzes are all open book/notes. He is really good about responding to emails quickly. Amazing teacher.
If you can just make it through the first few weeks of class, he gets better. He cares about his students and the material he's teaching. He does pop quiz attendance checks, but if you go to class regularly you'll be fine. He's fair and upfront about what he expects, like I said just make it through the first month or so and you'll be okay.
I only got a C in this class because of attendance or else I would have gotten a B so yes, attendance is VERY important!! Don't do what I did and skip class just to go stand in line for basketball games because it will ultimately hurt your grade, but overall a great guy. One of the better professors in the history department (I'm a history major).
All of his test and quizzes are online and through honorlock. The quizzes are on each chapter of the book and you won't get a 5/5 on them unless you read the chapter. Lectures can be a tad boring and he can be a bit loud and extraneous at times, but overall he's the best HIST1020 professor you'll get. Not too hard, just a lot of reading.
The entire class is open notes so make sure you get the textbook. I used the index and it made everything so much easier. I didn't even read half the time and I still got an A. He is very serious about attendance so make sure you still go to the lectures (he makes them interesting dw). Overall, a super great guy and very organized.
In a whole semester of online classes, Dr. Schulz is the best because I always know where I stand in his class. He has strict deadlines, but he also grades and posts feedback EVERY SINGLE WEEK. It's shocking how few professors grade on time, so this is a great class to take online.
Class was easy to pass with minimal effort. You can use the book on the tests and quizzes, but I recommend to read the chapters ahead of time. If you took AP US History or AP World this class will be a breeze. Literally don't take any other class. He is extremely helpful and will email you back as quickly as he can.
Dr Schulz was super nice and understanding. It was an easy summer class with clear instructions. There was a quiz every week but super short and easy if you even opened the textbook. The test could be tricky, but easy if you studied even a little. Everything was open book, just use index and youll do good!
His classwork is repetitive which is nice because there are no surprise assignments. He always provides thoughtful comments that will improve future grades and goes above and beyond to make sure his students are doing well in and outside of school. His tests are open book, but that lowkey makes them a bit harder.
He also gives good feedback to the students. He is super nice and cares about us.
Definitely take him if you get a chance. He loves to help his students and really wants the best for them.
Maybe this guy was good in person but his online effort is terrible. He has some young girl grade the weekly assignments and grades overly tough for no reason. Doesnt do lectures just has old videos of himself and you read lectures and watch crash course history that he links. You can tell by short videos he could be a good professor but nah.
Dings people for being 'intellectually lazy' when writing definitions on a quizlet but doesn't bother to film his own lectures. He uses Crash Course videos from high school. Same textbook as AP World. Easy A if you can make him happy on the subjective grading. Exams are open book. Used the book index plus quizzes from the publisher.
Hope you dont mind paying a ton of money for the lecture to be crash course videos. Expected to read a chapter each week plus a thousand assignments on top of that. Every email he sends is a novel and he grades everything so hard with a very vague rubric. I never made higher than an 80 on a test
The book was only needed for vocab. He never gave lectures, only gave hank green videos which our assignments were based on. There is no need to read the passages he provides in his modules. Test/quiz questions and answers are on Quizlet. He is very petty and needlessly wordy. He asked for a "brief" answer and got upset when my answer was brief
He never actually gave a lecture to the class. The GTA facilitated everything and the rest of the class depended on the textbook and crash course videos. I would not recommend taking this class as we had several writing assignments due each week in addition to lectures and other homework assignments. He is not very understanding about emergencies.
Dr. Schulz is incredible. There are two rules in his class: do not cheat (he will catch you) and show up. His class is one of my favorites I have taken at Auburn, and is the reason I was able to get through the semester. He is hilarious and one of my favorite (if not my favorite) professors I have ever had. I cannot recommend him enough.
he is so bad that he has a lot of homework and the quiz is one question per minute. his grading standard is so fuzzy. he teaches nothing, but gives you motivational articles to make you study and enjoy the heavy learning. No curve, no round, DO NOT ASK, THE ONLY ANSER IS NO, NO, NO!!!
This is my first history class at auburn where i feel like I am actually learning something. While there is work the work actually helps you learn the material rather than just memborizing it. The professor grades harder on discussions/ hw rather than test. He also cares so much about his students success and Ive only had a few teachers like that
He is the worst professor I've ever had in Auburn. His class is awfully stressful giving you too much assignments while he never gives you the lecture but crash course video. You only have 1 minute to answer the exam question. He sends you bunch of emails trying to encourage you but I never felt like he actually cares about you. Very disappointed.
I don't understand why y'all gave him high scores. He is one of the worst professors I've ever had in Auburn. Too much reading and assignments. You only have 1 minute to answer every exam and quiz question. NO EXTRA CREDIT. NO CURVE. His grading standard is fuzzy. Every week he gives you motivational emails but helped nothing.
I had Dr. Schulz for a online history class. Following dropping multiple history classes at Auburn I finally found the professor that works for me. Dr. Schulz really cares about his students, he sends weekly check ins to see how everyone is coping, his work is always due at the same time every week. I actually felt like I learned a lot in this clas
He is a caring professor and gives great feedback. He expects 4 hours of hw per credit hour. There are no lectures in this class, just 30 pages of reading from the book a week. So expect 5 hours of reading, 3 essays, and a quiz per week (about 12 hours). Test/Quiz are absurdly specific, 1 minute each. If you don't get the eBook you will fail.
I took Dr Schulz for HVM and he was so funny and hilariously cynical. Class was always interesting and he is the definition of a mid city, hippie cowboy. His assignments are pretty basic, they do kinda take time, but you will get an A as long as you give effort and care. Also, attendance may not be required but he notices who shows up. Love him
Avoid this professor if you are taking other hard classes at the same time as this class. he gives busy work assignments for absolutely no reason. This is the most frustrating class I have ever taken at auburn, as you are expected to spend at least 5 hours on homework each week in a basic history class. It seems like he does this to scare people.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS! This guy is petty, giving no grace even in understandable situations. Gives pointless busy work writing assignments based off of YouTube videos. Expects students to take hours doing bs for his class but he doesnt even take the time to record lectures? Seems lazy and like he doesnt care on his part. Refuses to respond to emails
DO NOT TAKE! This man badly needs an ego check! All he likes to do is take power trips and give unreasonably bad grades.
He was a great teacher who was clearly knowledgeable passionate about the topics we discussed. Has a cynical sense of humor as well.
Schulz is not worth taking if you're not a fan of history. 5 assignments due each week: comprehension check only on crash course YouTube videos, discussion 3 paragraphs minimum, quiz 5 questions 5 mins to finish, quizlet on textbook terms, and reflection short essay. No video lectures, novel length emails, and unhelpful feedback/tough grading
Do not take Dr. Schulz if you aren't passionate about history. 5 assignments each week that are very time consuming and he doesn't even take the time to record his own lectures; you learn based on crash course videos and the textbook. Very harsh grader for no reason and rude over email. Had assignments due the week of spring break. Don't recommend!
It was a lot of busy work but overall the class is easy if you do your work and turn it in on time.
Listen, most of these reviews are from freshman who are starting to transition into college. As a senior, I enjoyed his lecture and work load. I thought it was more than reasonable and he cares about our opinions in class. If you don't put in effort or copy ChatGPT of course you aren't going to get a good grade. Put in effort and grade will reflect
Just meet your deadlines, read the book, and show him you care. He is very rewarding to those who try!
If you just do your work and study then it's easy.
Dr. Schulz is clearly very passionate about the subject matter he teachers which is great if you are a history major. If you take him to satisfy a core requirement you are in for crash course videos from 7 years ago, scheduled novel length emails with no substantial helpful information, and a professor who in his syllabus gloats failing students.
He's just a sassy (in the good way) history prof. with a sense of humor and an iconic fashion sense that isn't appreciated enough. His class has a very understandable and manageable schematic. Just be prepared to write a decent amount and you'll be right as rain.
Dr. Schulz is an all-around good lecturer and he tries his best to make light of the sometimes heavy content he is covering. He's funny, accessible, and does not waste your time. Just do your work and you will pass pretty easily.
Tests are timed but online. He is passionate about teaching and actually wants the students to learn. He makes a lot of jokes.
A bit time consuming as someone who is in engineering as the homework takes more time than most of my other homework from other classes combined, but it is not very difficult homework. Put in the time and you will do fine. He takes attendance but as long as you do not skip every lecture you're fine.
Dr. Schulz was tough initially, but once you understand him a little better, he is an amazing professor!
Schulz is a little wild but he's a good dude, his class is organized and everything is on canvas, he actually knows how to use a computer. 1 module a week that takes a 1-2 hours total and 3 test with no cumulative final. I dont like history but hes probably one of the best in the history department, he is a lib but he is chill, what do you expect.
GREAT PROFFESOR!! im so glad i took him. We do have a lot of homework weekly, that usually takes 2 hours but I have a high A in the class and totally worth it. I made my whole schedule around him for next semester for his hist 1020. His tests are online and he asks to buy the textbook but it was 130 and I never used it EVER. hes super passionate!!
This class is a lot of work, but manageable if you stay on top of the assignments. The professor is detail-oriented, so be prepared to put in the time. Unstuckstudy was a lifesaver for study prep.
The work in this class is very repetitive and pretty much the same assignments each week. I was dumb and didnt do any work for a couple of weeks which really hurt my grade. He takes a quick attendance but it doesnt affect your grade, if you really wanted to you could do the entire course online from reading the textbook and modules, its all online.
Overall, great history class. Every week there are 3 assignments due but they are easy and doable. Tests are online (not proctored) and the final is too. Great class, really passionate about history, and his lectures are a lot of notes but very helpful.
TAKE HIM! I never had any problems with Schulz. You don't even have to go to class, as long as you do the homework and quizzes you will be fine, make sure you get them done or else it can bring down your grade. Everything is due at the end of the end and open notes, but it can prob take you max 2 hours to finish everything. Highly recommend
The class is great, attendance isn't mandatory, and all the assignments are online with a week to do them. They're not super difficult, and usually consist of a paper, quiz, and every couple of weeks a test. He's a very passionate professor who cares deeply for what he does and is really helpful.
If you need to take history at Auburn, take it with him! He is such a genuine and nice guy. He even allows for extra credit on everyone's final grade at the end of the semester if 90-95% of the students complete the AUevaluate survey. Super easy class and he is there for you if you need him. Ty for a great semester!
Dr. Schulz is a character! He can get wild in lectures and sometimes says controversial stuff, but I thought he was funny. He treats you like an adult, not a child. He wants to talk about your opinions, and I could tell that he cared about what I had to say. Brings snacks for discussion day, which is always a bonus!!
Dr Schulz is great, I took his online class World History 1010 class, and he was very helpful and gave good feedback
The weirdest professor I've had and talks about very out-of-pocket and inappropriate things (curse words, body parts, etc.). Attendance isn't mandatory, and tests and assignments are online. Gives 3 assignments a week which take about 1-2 hours to complete but they are relprettyatively easy. Probably the easiest history offered so I recommend!
Open note/textbook tests. Make sure to watch the answer the questions as you watch the videos. Quizzes are short.
Good, hard class but good feedback.
I liked this class. Attendance was not mandatory but he still did take attendance (there was no effect on ur grade). If you take this class be aware that there are 3 assignments due every week after the lecture is completed. They arent difficult but can sometimes be annoying. Tests are all online which is super nice.
He is amazing! Such a kind soul who truly cares about each of his students deeply. He is passionate about what he teaches. His class is very straightforward and the work is simple. If you need to take history at Auburn, hands down take Schulz!
Loved him and his interest in lectures, but there was a lot of writing involved.
Absolutely amazing! Grades fast and gives feedback. Three assignments a week with reading and a lecture. A lot of work but an amazing class!
Make sure you are prepared to write a lot! A LOT. I loved his lectures and found the course very beneficial. Just don't fall behind!
I definitely wasn't prepared for the amount of writing he required in his assignments but, nonetheless he did try to help me on multiple occasions to meet his standard.
The class is easy and straightforward. The assignments are very clear and consistent. Get your work done and you will pass with a good grade!
I LOVE Dr. Schulz! His classes are straightforward and easy to follow. Reflections and comprehension checks, make sure you are prepared to put thought in to writing them. He will provide feedback on any homework assignments graded below a 100, so it's easy to figure out what he expects. Absolutely take him for history if you can!
I like Dr. Shultz but I sometimes find it hard to follow his lectures. If you can, read the textbook before going into class. also, don't talk in class unless u want to be called out.
While he's not a bad professor, I feel like a lot could be improved upon. He has a tendency to get off-topic, usually on something political, which can be frustrating. Most of what he says in class relating to the unit is available on Canvas. This could be an online class and nothing would change. Lots of written assignments with mediocre feedback.
Attendance is mandatory but all work is online with no lockdown browser or anything, all you come to class for is the attendance and lecture. All notes are online and his lectures he just talks about notes and random stuff sometimes. Super chill class and super chill teacher. Take if you can for easy history credit.
Fair and easy professor for this intro history class. Grading is reasonable, and weekly assignments are quick but helpful for tests. Exams require independent study but aren't proctored or on lockdown browser. Tip: in reflections, always connect the material to today's society or its modern importance—he loves that!
Loved Dr. Schulz! His lectures were always interesting and is very flexible with absences. The whole class is basically online and work at your own pace, and no final!! He was just an all around cool guy and super authentic.
A super nice professor who seems super passionate about history. There are three weekly assignments (essentially two small essays and a quiz on that week's module) which generally take a few hours to complete. However, every single assignment is open from the beginning of the semester (including tests) and everything is open note.
He is a phenomenal professor and is the only history professor I've ever had to make me engage with the content in a meaningful way. He is strict on the assignments but if you follow the guides attached to the assignment and read the samples you'll be fine.
Schulz tends to ramble about topics that have nothing to do with lecture, so I essentially taught myself everything outside of class. There are 3 assignments per week, which is a heavy load, but gives you wiggle room to improve any grades. The TA's that always graded my assignments were pretty tough graders.
DO NOT TAKE ANYONE ELSE! DR. SCHULZ IS THE BEST!!!!!! Everything can be done online, super laid back and chill. Now, late work isn't accepted (even if it is 1 minute late it is still a zero). Otherwise, he is da bomb.
This class is very easy once you get to know how to complete the weekly assignments how he likes them. It's busy work, but everything is online and open note. It's essentially like taking an online class. He takes attendance everyday even though he mainly rambles about nonsense during the lecture. Get ready to hear him talk about himself nonstop.
Love him. 3 assignments a week, which are very easy once you get the hang of how he likes them done. Tests are take home. He kinda rambles during lectures, but he is passionate about history. Chill class.
Dr. Schulz was a great professor to have for World History I! The amount of writing you have to do per week may seem stressful at first, but once you understand what his criteria are, it's not hard to do well, and the comprehension checks force you to actually engage with the material. Attendance is mandatory, but the lectures are pretty chill.
Good professor, deadlines matter
If you can take this professor i would highly recommend it. Was amazing with lectures, and if i could take him ever history course i would.
So nice and funny! You don't need to attend his lectures because he posts his slides on canvas, and as long as you do all your work on time you're bound to get an A
Im not a history person and this was a good class. Went to class every once in a while and took notes at home. Everything is online. Prof is very passionate abt history and is great! VERY strict deadlines. 3 relatively easy assignments per week that took me an hour-ish. Tests online + open note, but you need to study still bc they can be tricky
BEST HISTORY TEACHER EVER! He is very considerate to his students, whether he is giving insightful feedback, answering questions you have, or respecting the stress you go through in college. The homework is a lot of work, but meaningful. I am in no way a fan of history, but he made the class interesting and fun. Tests are also online with no final!
Lectures are nice to review the material, but they aren't mandatory. Exams are non-proctored and online. He gives like 3 hours of hw a week, and it's a lot of writing but not that bad.
Dr. Schulz was great, attendance is not mandatory and you can get through his class with an A as long as you're doing all of his assignments. Funny guy, I enjoyed his lectures and when I was having trouble completing assignments due to health issues he was very understanding and nice about it. I really enjoyed his class, just get ready to write.
This class was easy. There are 2 assignments each week with a quiz, 3 tests, and no final. Nothing is proctored. It's a lot of writing but that all you have to do. Attendance is required but you don't have to pay attention. He doesn't round grades, give extra credit, or have assignment redos so don't slack at the beginning and you'll be fine.
He is one of the best professors. All material is open and can be done at your own pacing. He does lectures but it's not required to go. He's very funny and honest about his material. You can tell he enjoys what he teaches. 2 assignments and one mini quiz per module about the current era you are covering. I would take him for history again.
Dr. Schulz gives a lot of work per week. I found it manageable but I know several people who struggled. Attendance was mandatory but I didn't find the lectures helpful. Just read the text book and while you write your weekly reflection and you'll be fine. I tied to get him for 1020 but his class was full. e's ery available if you ever need help.
As long as you can write well and put effort into the modules, you'll do fine in Dr. Schulz's class. Super caring for his students and wants the best for them. If you don't do anything stupid then he'll like you. All of the material and assignments are online and he lets you complete everything at your own pace. No cumulative final. Great guy.
By far the best option for hist 1010. Mostly on your own with the lecture being more of a bonus (mandatory attendance). You will have to write a lot, but as long as you can write decently you'll be fine. All of his tests are take home and online, no final exam. As long as you have the time to crank out a few paragraphs a week, he's the best.
