he is cool,,he teaches in modern terms,,,and he is not bad on the eyes
Fun class; Book hardly needed; book only needed for writing assignment; borrow the book when Zack gives the writing assignment. don't waste money on book. for midterm and final, just study the study guide. Answers already given in presentation; you're going home with the study guide and answers; no research needed.
Awsome Professor! Book hardly needed. For midterm and final, just study w/ study guide. For writing assignment, book needed for quotes and source given. Book barely needed. just do the writing assignment, extra credits and tests. Extra credits are points added to mid terms and finals. NO book needed to study for exam
He's a cool teacher. It was a very chill class. You don't really need the text book for his class. His mid term and final is based on what he goes over in class. If you understand what he is explaining, you will ace his class without having to review much. I would recommend this teacher to anyone that is interested in or needs to take philosophy.
I highly recommend this teacher. He clearly loves philosophy and teaching as well, and he is a very natural leader just by the quality of person he is. Some teachers rule with an iron fist, but he is such a good guy you want to do your best. When someone asked what he was like-I actually found myself saying-he has Jesus type energy! Very kind!
This professor is the absolute best. I highly recommend him. He makes going to class fun. He is very nice, his lectures are very clear and helpful. BTW, he is pretty hot.
Grade is based on a Midterm, 5 page paper and a final. If this is your first philosophy class it is a must for you to attend every class. Professor Knorr's lecture are clear, and if you ever don't understand he is wiling to work with you. Great Professor Highly recommend taking this class, you will learn a lot!!
This professor was pretty easy, but boring and it wasn't worth waking up early for his class. His exams are straight forward and there's writing assignments for every reading he gave us.
Wonderful teacher! He's extremely helpful and personable. Will answer all your questions and replies to emails very promptly. What can I say? He's great at his job! And it doesn't hurt that he's easy on the eyes, too.
I absolutely love this professor. Such an amazing teacher and a sweetheart. An 8am honors philosophy class was not my definition of great but his class always made my mornings. All his readings are online. Read, write, take good notes and get an A. He is very clear on what he wants which makes his class easy to follow. Oh and his eyes are stunning!
Clarity, Helpful, and not a difficult class! As he calls his tests "Midterms" are all based on his lectures. He changed my view on so many levels..in a positive way! You will learn a lot, very interesting class! Highly recommend him. So happy I took him!
Clear notes and all tests are based on his lectures. No textbook needed. Easy grader. Tests are very straightforward. No surprises. Class is a bit boring, but eh. Hints essay questions. Awesome professor. Wish there were more like him.
Taking philosophy with Knorr was great. The class itself was a breeze, lectures are crystal clear, and there are always office hours when help is needed. The grading consists of three tests, participation, and written assignments of each reading. And if you don’t get the reading, the lectures will indeed help you understand.
I LOVE HIM!!! hes an amazing teacher! super clear. if you take notes in his class there is no way you can fail. pay attention and study before the test and you'll get an easy A! 2 midterms and a test. he also gives 5 extra points on every test if you fill something out on your study guide. oo and the fact that hes rlly good looking doesn't hurt ;)
awesome teacher!! super chill. so good looking.
soo nice. soo friendly soo funny such a good teacher! i was so not interested in phil before his class and i left loving it. easy A if you listen and take notes.
great teacher!! really chilled out so makes class fun. easy A if u take notes and study for exam.
I really like him he is very nice and kind. He is really clear on what he wants; he gives study guides which really helpful and you can ask him anything.. he will always be there for you he also gives extra credit..just go to class and study then you will get A ... Love him <3 <3
He is so cool! any questions you have feel free to ask! explains everything! there are hardly no assignments, a little reading but then he just talks about it in class. Has a real passion for the subject wants class to fully understand! ask questions and take some notes and you'll be fine!
If you take a philosophy class, PLEASE take KNORR. He is amazing. He is a great professor that knows what he's talking about. He's VERY nice and angelic. Study and listen to his amazing lectures and you will get an A. It's really interesting too.
Class isn't mandatory but your notes are what you will be using to study as he doesn't require a textbook so I would recommend you go to class. Lectures are interesting. Take notes and you'll be fine. The only homework you have is reading and writing a short paragraph about the readings. Tests are all multiple choice.
THE BEST
Zack is the real deal when it comes to teaching philosophy. If you are a philosophy major you'll love him. The class is easy if you read, take notes and interact. The class is graded into a midterm and final. Extra credit is giving upon completion of the study guide. Fun class/ fun professor!!!
LOVE HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! best prof i ever had at valley. easy A
Hands down, the best professor I have ever had. He is very clear with all the work you need. Homework is not graded or mandatory, but they do help understand the class. No quizzes. No books. 2 midterms, 1 final and he gives you a study guide in which he will help you in. Also, he's very cute.
One of the BEST professors at lavc! Explains the material so smoothly and he's very helpful! 2 Midterm 1 final and does reviews before each exam! Really enjoyed the class. Take him! You won't regret it.
THIS GUY KNOWS HIS JOB. HE IS THE BEST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD. HE MADE ME FALL IN LOVE WITH PHILOSOPHY. SOME SAY IT'S BORING, BUT IF YOU LIKE TO THINK DEEP HE CAN HELP YOU LIKE PHILOSOPHY.
BEST PHILOSOPHY TEACHER EVER!!!! If you love philosophy, you will love his class. The tests are easy just pay attention . Wish I needed more philosophy classes!!
Wonderful teacher. Very enthusiastic class. Great discussions. This class should be mandatory--it's that good.
Z Knorr Is the best philosophy class you can take. I suggest taking introduction first and continue his other classes after if you fall in love with the subject like I did. It was because of his love for philosophy and the way he taught that I decided to major in it. You will not regret his class. You'll learn so much.
The best Philosophy professor you'll ever have. He makes extremely abstract ideas and theories easy to understand and relate to. He welcomes all interpretations of the texts. The tests are super easy, just fill out the study guide, you can go over it with him or in class. His class truly altered my life and perspective.
Zack is incredible. Truly made me appreciate philosophy and critical thinking in general. Displayed a passion not only for the subject, but for the school as well. His tests may be worded a bit tricky sometimes, but he does provide clear study guides and goes over the topics in a clear manner that helps you relate to the concept. TAKE HIS CLASS!
Zack makes philosophy very clear. He doesn't mind explaining anything more than once because he wants you to understand philosophy. Take good notes and study... You will receive an A.
I didn't want to take Philosohy originally, but professor Knorr changed that. Sweet person. Goes over things if you don't understand. Pretty easy tests, but studying is a MUST. Lots of reading, but it's nothing to bad. He's very understanding. Best Philosohy professor at LAVC
one of my all-time favorite teachers
He's a great professor. I never got bored sitting through his lectures. He's very lenient as well. I would definitely take another class with Professor Zack Knorr.
Difficult class, but Prof. Knorr is there for you! He is a phenomenal professor. He is humble and approachable. He is a true gem! I ended up falling in love with Symbolic Logic! You can master it, if you put in the work. Take this class with him!
If you have the chance to take professor Zach then dont hesitate on choosing him as a professor. Not only is he very cool and intelligent but he is an amazing person as well. Lavc is honestly lucky to have a professor like him. Yes his class can be easy to many students. But the real reason to take his class is to learn new morals and perspectives.
Would def take again! Not too tough, very lenient with everything! If logic is not your thing, then attend the class! For those taking a computer science or have taken comp sci classes like C++ or C, this class is a breeze! Second half of semester is nothing but proofs! Study and learn the techniques he teaches and you'll get an A!
Awesome teacher, I like his high positive energy. He answers the emails fast, flexible, and ready for help. He teaches in a way that is impossible to dislike the class. Each week, you have to read one assigned chapter, answer 10 questions quiz and write 1-2 pages, except each three weeks where you have only reading and 50 Qs Exam.
What else can I say about him?! He's just that good! You'll definitely learn a lot in his class! He's very intelligent and helpful! I took him for winter and it was not bad at all except that it was fast pace, of course. Other than that, you can still get the A, just study the study guide. He goes over the study guide the day before so you good lol
Have yours ears open and have a book ready because all you need is his lectures and the book.
Next stop? Take his Ethics if he taught it. Would take again. Good professor!
Professor Knorr is amazing!! I took his class for winter and he really knows his stuff. He assigns readings that can be found online (no book) and goes over it the next day in great detail so students have a better understanding. His class is easy but you leave knowing all the philosophers and ideas discussed in the semester! Def will take again.
He is Fantastic!
Took his Philosophy class online. Didn't watch any of his lectures but I read the book. Every week there is either a test or an essay due. Super easy A as long as you read and do the assignments every week.
He is one of the most chill teachers I have ever had. He's really nice and a fairly easy grader as long as he sees you put in some effort. Your grade is solely based on the midterm, essay, homework assignments and final. No book needed. I recommend taking good notes. Take him!
Professor Knorr is AMAZING! I highly recommend taking this course even if you're not interested in philosophy. It's also an easy A. He offers extra credit too and is very helpful if you show up for office hours. Professor Knorr cares a lot about his students and just wants everyone to pass.
Professor Knorr is an Awesome teacher. My daughters took him in Winter Semester. They told me that he was the best teacher in a LAVC. I took him this last Spring Semester that ended in June 2, 2017. My God! He is amazing! He is very intelligent, humble, and approachable. My son is taking him in Fall Semester. Easy "A" just take good notes.
Geniunely a good guy and professor, just passed with an A.
Clear grading criteria! He is loyal to the syllabus and gives study guides for tests he reviews the day before! Accepts late work, he connects concepts of philosophy to real world examples. Three non cumulative exams, and assigned reading responses. That is more than fair.
So easy and teaches awesome!!! The reason why it's easy is because he teaches so well. He gives a clear rubric and sticks with it. One of the fairest professors ever. Super sweet and caring for his students.
Great! There is a review day before each test as well as an opportunity for extra credit. If you can't make it to class he's awesome about letting you make up assignments or coming in to ask questions about the material. There is plenty of time to discuss and ask questions in class. A reading assignment almost every class, but they're short.
This is my first time taking Philosophy or logic class and I did not regret it. One midterm and a final. There are homework in sets but they're fun! He is VERY clear at explaining things and willing to help students both inside and outside of class. His tests are easy but the homework can be tricky, but you can ask him for help.
I already took him for philosophy 1 and decided to take him again because he's that good! I didn't even need this philosophy class. Trust me with him you can't possibly fail any of his philosophy classes. He's so caring and very humble. If you need help, go to him! Take him!!! You won't regret it. High chance you would want to take him again!
Need your own computer for this class (software download, Mac/Win/Linux). Don't need the physical book, access code is cheaper. Very easy for people already good at thinking logically. Prof Zack is excellent at teaching: very patient & good at communicating. Will spend lots of extra time helping anyone struggling; might even add extra office hours.
I took him for Phil 1, and he is super cool. Easy homework, but he does assign it every class. If you can get a friend to give you the homework question, you basically only have to attend the 3 exam review classes just before each exam. He doesn't take role, so go to these, and he essentially gives you the exam questions throughout the review.
ONE OF THE BEST PROFESSORS! He's humble and cares about students. His lectures are interesting and you wouldn't want to miss a day of class. easygoing personality and great sense of humor! There is a study guide/extra credit and dont worry about late assignments, hes flexible!!! Hes knowledgable and will make u fall in luv the subject. TAKE HIM!!!
Best online class ever!!! Every week theres a 1-2 page double spaced writing assignment and a 10 question quiz every week! SUPER EASY you will not regret taking this class! Awesome professor! Quizzes and writing assignments were very easy!
Highly recommend this class and instructor
This proffessor is great for online Psychology class. Do your work and you will pass. Couple of essays and disscussions and thats it. It was an easy A
Drops one of your lowest homework scores (homework is worth 50% of grade) but he encourages you to work with other students to complete it. The class is fairly difficult and is similar to computer science BUT he goes over the material in detail and if you need help he will sit down and work with you until you understand during his office hours.
Professor Knorr ROCKS! I took his online Philosophy class and it was a breeze. There are 3 exams, a 10 question quiz every week and either discussion post or 1-2 page summary of the chapter every week. He even gives an extra credit assignment at the end of the semester. I would definitely take him again given the chance.
I took this Professor online and I have no regret taking him. it was during a short semester so we have quizzes every week, writing assignment every other week and 3 exams and a final. It is doable. He give extra credit too. Take him
Probably the best professor ever!! I took a summer class Philosophy 1 with him and I absolutely loved it. He is so organized, easy to understand, helpful and caring professor. He has study guides, which cover everything that will be on the exams. So if you pay attention in class, do the hw assignments, you will get an A in the class. Recommended!!!
Online class has an incredibly low time commitment. Subject is interesting and professor gives very small amount of work. If you do the work it's practically impossible to get anything but an A.
He is literally the best! He is my favorite professor. He is so kind and such a smart guy! If you want to take a great class with a great professor this is the class to take! I wish he taught more classes so I could take them all!
Professor Knorr is amazing! Hes not strict about attendance, but Id suggest going to lecture anyway. His lectures are really interesting and funny. Hes very understanding about late/missing assignments and will work with you to get the grade you want. Also, hell let you know pretty much exactly what will be on exams. 10/10
He's really passionate about teaching Philosophy. He's such a great professor. He really cares for his students to pass. He gives you homework almost everyday but its rather simple. No right or wrong answer. 2 Mid Terms & 1 Final. He gives you the study guide and goes over it with you. I really enjoyed attending his class every morning.
Very Professional, very helpful. homework gets more difficult so if you have any questions on the homework ask him in the beginning of class or after. Loves to teach and help students. 1 midterm 1 exam and there is going to be homework to practice so do it. homework is 45% of your grade!
AMAZING! Super passionate about philosophy and very down-to-earth. Easiest class of my life, highly recommend this chill professor 11/10 (he prefers to be called Zack). If you actively listen to his lectures, it can be quite a life-changing experience. Also a lot of extra credit opportunity, so there shouldn't be an excuse for you not to have an A.
Professor Knorr is easily the best Philosophy Professor that Los Angeles Valley College. He explains the material extremely well and will take questions from students that need help. He is always available during office hours and is willing to help you if you are failing. He is down to earth and will take late HW! Take him if you want to learn!!!
Professor Knorr is a good teacher and definitely get the book to do homework. If u copy and paste an assignment please cite their sources cause he will tell if u just copy it. Good teacher just don't get lazy.
One of the best proffesors around, hes pretty straight forward with everything you have to know, and also gives extra credit if you do a study guide for tests. His lectures were really enlightening to listen to, I really liked the class and hopefully so will you.
Good and easy professor. I like the group discussions, quizzes and writing assignments every each week. Will take his class again.
I took Philosophy 1 online with Professor Knorr and it was great! There are not a lot of assignments, but you do need to study and read in order to pass his tests/exams. The exams are a little difficult. Overall, I would take again!
He's hand down one of the best professors in the school, he's very clear on everything he needs from you and his lectures are interesting to listen to. If you're trying to take a general ed class or actually majoring in the subject then I definitely recommend him.
Logic was a pretty straightforward and easy class. The first part of the class is regular philosophy then it shifts to truth tables and then proofs. Whoever said this class is like math has never taken hardcore calculus. Tests are easy if you attend lecture and he tells you what's important. No textbook needed, just class notes. Great guy.
First time for Philosophy and an online course, professor Knorr was great. Very fair with grading your assignments. There is a lot of reading but he lets you know what to focus on. I couldn't complete an assignment due to a personal problem so the extra credit assignment really worked for me. I'm so glad he gave that option at the end!
Professor Knorr is a great professor! Very easy class and I 100% recommend him. He taught me so much about the subject in the easiest ways ever, and he did not assign a lot of work. 1 quiz each week which was only 10 questions and one discussion question. I did not stress or worry about this class at all, EASY A!!!!!
The absolute dude. I took this class off a friend's recommendation, and absolutely did not regret it. Zack loves what he teaches, and you learn a lot in his class! Don't hesitate to raise your hand, participation is great! Very short exams, content is reviewed beforehand, if you show up to class and pay attention it's impossible to fail.
Literally the best Professor ever! Took him because a friend suggested him and I did not regret it at all. Discussions and writing assignments are easy and so are his exams. You will not regret taking him.
This class was an excellent introductory class. The lecture videos are excellent and the book does a good job at clearly explaining concepts. Take!
Terrible experience with this person! He has 0 understanding to a person's situation and acts bothered when is asked a question. He came across as lazy, snobby, has to be right. I was so disappointed because the reviews for him are so good. The way that person acted with me showed 0 emathy, understanding, or compassion. He was extreemly unfair..
I took Philo 01 this Fall 2020 and got a B. He assigns 1 assignment a week. Sometimes, he doesnt give assignment so u can read the textbook and lectures. Always check the modules for discussion questions and make sure to turn in everything on time. He DOESNT accept LATE WORK. dont procrastinate like me.
Calling this teacher professor would be an insult to the teaching profession. The height of his carelessness towards students can only be surpassed by his total lack of ability to teach. A teacher is someone who imparts knowledge with care. This man is a robot not a teacher do not waste your time and money on him.
Professor Knorr gave pretty clear instructions and expectations on the assignments. The coursework in this class is comprised of quizzes, discussion posts, short essays, and a few exams. He only ever assigned one assignment per week and they were very doable. Easy A.
I can not believe he is teaching students philosophy.. He got caught saying things which were not true about his course, just so he does not have to add students to the class. He acted extreemly lazy and careless. I had screenshots to prove that he was wrong and he would not admit it. Do not take a class with him. He treats students badly, not fair
I took his short 8 week course and it was a breeze. 3 (50) point exams. 5 (10) point quizzes. 2 (1page) writing assignments and 6 discussions. OpenBook everything Get the e-book or PDF way easier to find answers using key works with CTL F. Prof holds weekly office hours if you need him. Easy A but only if you do all the assignments
Not sure why he has such bad reviews. His 8 week class online and it is easy. Do all the work and dont miss assignments and youll get an A. A lot of reading but its doable. Youll find all the answers in the book. No surprise.
It is difficult to assess a prof when you take them online. To be fair, philosophy has always been a difficult subject for me, so I found myself doing a lot of extra research to understand the text. His online lectures were okay but too short to help me understand. I would have thrived from supplemental video materials or maybe an interactive forum
I took his short 8 week course and it was simple. Quizlet help me study. Open Book everything Get the e-book or PDF way easier to find answers using key works with CTL F. Prof holds weekly office hours if you need him. Easy A but only if you do all the assignments
Great teacher. As long as you read all of the material for class, you should be fine. Take notes and READ EVERYTHING. The quizzes and finals are solemnly based on the material you read for class. Do your posted assignments for each week and stay focused. (:
Professor Knorr is an amazing professor. He makes the material super digestible and easy to understand, doesn't talk down to you or bemoan people who may be slow to come to grips with the complexities of logic and genuinely seems passionate about teaching. There was 0 stress in this class, and I feel I really truly learned a lot from it.
Pfr Knorr was a great lecturer and I loved how he had recorded videos of lectures as they were very helpful. This class was interesting and I learned a lot. His class definitely isn't as tough as the name suggests. My sister just signed up to his class and he is highly recommended.
The course workload is very light & the instructions are very clear. Quizzes are easy, Exams are ok, 4 discussions, & 4 writing assignments. He's a bit picky on the writing assignments so make sure to do your best. Make sure to cite all your sources. Overall, decent professor.
This was the best class I have ever taken
This class was overall a good class. The assignments weren't at all heavy but he is a bit picky when it comes to writing assignments. In all, he's a good prof., I would also recommend reading the material before taking a quiz or exam.
Professor Knorr is a good professor. He gives feedback & has recorded lectures. The work load was divided up pretty well between group discussions, short essays & open book quizzes. He's strict about plagiarism & will give you a 0% if you plagiarize, even if "on accident". I was nervous about this. But thankfully I got an A in this class.
Amazing Professor that is super chill and caring and never shuts down a student no matter how silly their idea might seem. Homework is also super light and never too much. Take his class! Now!
Professor Knorr diligently explained the course material and took into consideration any of the interpretations I, or other classmates, had without making us worry about being 'wrong'. He doesn't require attendance, but his tests are reliant on the lectures! His lectures aren't boring either so there's really no reason to not attend :)
JUST TAKE THE CLASS. He is really caring and his grading criteria is clear. I was afraid of essays but he gaves good feedback so you know what to do next time if there is mistake. Class was easy and interesting.
Professor Knorr is a great one and his class is easy but be prepared to read and take notes. His quizzes and tests are easy to understand just read the chapters and discussion posts are big grade in the class.
This was the first philosophy class I've ever taken & it exceeded ALL expectations. After this class, I became a double major in psych & phil. His lectures were super engaging & discussion based- the tests were ONLY based on what we discussed in class- no surprises. Super easy class if you show up. He's also incredibly understanding & kind. 10/10
whole bunch of "short" essays that have to be a minimum of 1000 words and if turn it in finds one single word on another website then he'll give you a zero for "plagiarizing".
If the professor didn't mark my work as plagiarized even though I sent him the entire book passage that I had taken and paraphrased in my own words, then maybe this professor seems good. I provided him with evidence that I didn't steal anyone's work, but he ignored my email and never got back to me. Not recommended.
I wouldn't suggest taking the professor's class if you don't enjoy reading because of the long essays you will have to write. He is a tough grader. You must be careful because even some phrases matching to another source can result in your assignment being marked as plagiarized. Nevertheless, it was my effort, not the professor's,that I got an A.
He, as an instructor, is caring and willing to go up and beyond. To help students understand, study, and pay attention to lectures, the tests are questions about the lectures and participation matters. It's not a difficult class if you write good notes. The test is in person, with multiple-choice questions. I record lectures to have better notes.
He is easily the nicest professor I had and is very patient. If you take the class seriously the subject is very easy to understand which was surprising because I know a lot of people were struggling.
Professor Knorr is a perfect example of someone who went into something they're passionate about. His lectures are interesting and clear. His assignments are super easy and he allowed my late work. He also has a few open note tests, with extra credit for bringing in your notes. Amazing professor. I'll be taking his other classes.
Zack is a great teacher and I learned a lot from the course. It was not hard at all and I enjoyed learning about philosophy. There is one assignment a week. It could be either an 2-3 page essay, 10 question MCQ's, or a discussion that needs one paragraph. There is a good, but light, amount of reading. Great class and I recommend everyone takes it.
Very test heavy. Reflection papers that he does is only worth 25%. What really matters are the 3 exams hat he gives which are 25% each.
Professor Knorr was good. Took him in spring 2023. I kinda struggled in that class philosophy 009, but I was able to pass with putting in effort. He graded my late assignments though he does not grade late assignments unless you just give an explanation. He'll consider regrading. the exams weren't that bad. Yet some had long premises and tables.
