Horrible...avoid at all costs

Midterms are AWFUL! Got a B in 151, worrying about passing 152...
Very good teacher, explains problems bery well. Offers extra credit assignments.
After breezing through Math 151, thought I would rock 152 as well. Probably would've I could understand this professor. Avoid at all costs is so true!
try to avoid him at all costs!! change immediately if found in any of his classes
Fair, difficult teacher. Sometimes acts goofy and is occasionally tough to understand, but explains material well and grades more than fairly. I bombed a midterm and still was able to pull an A. Has extra credit that helps a bunch
Couldn't understand him through his thick accent
Horrible. I ended up going to a different lecturer teaching the same course after it was too late for me to drop.
I think Prof. Fiederowitz is very helpful
This class was way too hard for the level. I had to get help from math tutors and they frequently struggled. The passing rate of this class is way too low. Drop it now
i was worried by these other comments, but the prof. was easy to understand and helpful when i visited during office hours or asked a question after. **take advantage of the extra credit, it's very generous!!!**
I absolutely loved how he taught!!! He gave tricky examples and "nonexamples." I was a big fan of his sweater choices too. He is an incredible teacher, and makes math seem soo much more simple than it is!
Was a tough class, but not because of Professor Fiedorowicz. He was pretty generous on letting you know what he expected you to know for the midterms. He gives excellent notes! Got an A in the class.
His quizzes make me want to gouge my eyes out. He wears the same orange sweater every day.
All I can say is DEAR GOD.... and glad I am done
all i can think about is how he pronounced "the fundamental theorem of calculus" and the sweaters....
His method of teaching is very difficult. He writes on one overhead and you CANNOT see what he writes because he is in the way! Then he switches it to another overhead while he continues. If you ask a question chances are high he won't understand them.
His accent was a little difficult to understand, but he was there if you needed help. He was also as entertaining as you can get with math
Great professor overall. Always willing to help. If you're taking 152, try to get him.
Handwriting is messy, but he puts the notes online and is always willing to help
He was an OK teacher, but great with students. He gave tons of extra-credit and the quizes didnt even count if you did the webwork good. He even changes homework due dates because people have other exams in other classes.
The class was a breeze. Tons of extra-credit is offered and tests were only 5-6 questions that were exactly like the Webwork(Homework). If you do the work, you can easily get an A.
Cool guy ever and entertaining. exams and quizzes are easy and sure an A if u did all home works and webwork. He awesome as a person...but as a teacher he was horrible.
hard to understand. doesn't explain things really well but lots of extra credit in the class.

extra credit and good curves in the class... but the exams never closely reflect the material on the reviews... just hope you get a good t.a., this class is difficult.
I beg to differ. Exams do refect midterms but not directly. Do all webwork problems to get 100 recitation points + 40 extra credit points and you should be fine. Also, an 85% is an A-... including curve
He talks at a decent rate. Don't count on the webwork reviews to help a whole lot on midterms or final. Office hours are never busy. Overall, class is extremely difficult if you don't do suggested homeworks. The 40 points extra credit saved me. He's better than a lot of math professors I've had.
Makes countless mistakes in which the students point out so basically we are teaching the class ourselves. Posts lecture notes online which help in webwork so you can skip if you want and recitation goes over webwork. REVIEW WEBWORK FOR EXAMS. seriously. And the suggested probs couldn't hurt as well
not the best in lecture... and tests are hard but gives plenty of extra credit and makes the class very fair. It all evens out in the end.
All he covers in lectures is Math theory. Makes no sense and you are left in the dark come test time!
Horrible.

He was a little hard to understand, but his notes were very clear! Tests weren't easy, but the exam was very fair! Go to all the classes, do the webwork, and see him if you still have some questions! You'll get a decent grade if you just do the work!
Everything is available online and easy to follow. Also provides extensions when needed for extra credit and webwork!
Tests were not very difficult... especially if you do the homework. Quizzes are not hard at all... especially if you go recitation. Basically, if you go to most classes and recitation and do most of the homework, an A is not hard to get at all. He also does a good job explaining the material.
Great teacher - really wanted to teach and make sure you got the information. Notes clear and at a nice pace for people to follow. Go to all of the classes and do the webwork and a good grade is guaranteed. Very helpul professor.
Great teaching style. I enjoyed his unique personality.
he sucks
Goes at a nice pace, gives old midterms & final online, pushes back deadlines, very good professor!!!
Sometimes he's hard to understand since he's from some other country. Actually, I think he's a vampire. But not a horrible professor.
he's a **** and should go back to wherever he came from, aweful teacher overall, it sucks when you go from an A in math 151 to a D+ b/c your professor and your TA don't speak english practically & don't know how to teach

Fiedo was one fo my favorite teachers freshman year, he kept things interesting and made me laugh daily. My friends and I could mess around the whole class and take notes when he went over midterm info and do well everytime. As long as you get his notes down (sometimes can be too long) it's not bad.
He doesn't really teach and doesn't give good examples. He knows what he's talking about but has trouble conveying it.
Gave clear examples and did most of the problems on the midterms in lecture. Plus he offered 40 points in extra credit which if you go to the help sessions, should be done easily. His midterms were exactly like the practice ones on the website. This was my first and last college math class...easy A.
Nice guy and a decent course even if you haven't taken math for a few years. Only problem is that he sometimes over explains stuff and doesn't get to the point at all. Get a good TA to translate his ramblings and you'll be alright. Midterms are like his reviews
he is so confusing that i just stopped going to class.
Over explains really easy stuff and flys through difficult stuff. Midterms are ridiculous and his reviews don't even come close to covering the material tested. MSLC reviews are worthless too. My advice- discover the tutor room in Cockins and PRAY for a good TA!
Poor explanations so I just stopped going by the end. Look at the reviews on the website calendar. MSLC reviews are pretty worthless. Get Guo Luo as a TA.
Had to work VERY hard to get a decent grade. Tests were just complicated and hard. Just hope you get a good TA to help you get by.
Fiedorowicz is the lead Math 152 professor. The exams were graded more then fairly, I thought I did worse on each of them then what I ended with. If the professors pick their own TA's, he picks good TA's. Some of the other math teachers have a better note setup where you print off fill in the blans off their website. It's just like any math.
definitley one of the better math professors at osu. The exams are fair and their are not too many suprises. he is very willing to help and you can tell he really likes what he does. for the exams i would advise to study the webwork...if you can do those problems you can probally handle the exam.
Horrible lecturer. Talks above most peoples understanding and doesn't explain things well. He has a slight accent and constantly trails off, making it really hard to hear what he's saying. One on one he's very impersonal and not very nice. Avoid him if you can, if not just go to another lecture. My TA was the only reason I survived. Thanks Nick
This is most notably the worst math experience of my life. It is impossible to understand him and he moves impressively slow in lecture so that the more difficult topics are never covered.
Reads straight from overheads.
Reads directly from overheads. Questions on tests are always harder than the examples done in class. Webwork reviews for exams are helpful
I thought Fiedorowicz seemed very nice and maybe not too approachable, but also not very intimidating. If you have questions, ask! It will score you points with any teacher and show them that you care about learning the material. If you feel lost the MSLC workshops are extremely helpful.
I stopped attending lectures after the third day. On this particular day the professor was asked to make the overhead larger or perhaps focus it. He responded with "the notes are online." You are better off learning the material yourself, he will not help. It is impossible to follow his lectures regardless of the overhead size.
Heavy Transylvanianesque accent. I failed the class (for the 2nd time, different prof) by 3 points. So I sent multiple e-mails and office calls to see if I could get the grade changed, never even got a response. My TA, Xun Yu, if you ask him to do a hw prob, he would do it. We weren't sure if he was that nice, or just didn't know. OSU MATH SUCKS!!
I had breezed through AP Calculus in high school with an A, however I had to do hours of studying daily to maintain that grade in this class. The test questions are more difficult than the homework, but if you study the webwork problems and webwork review you should be okay. Also, the extra credit projects are worth your time.

"Ok, so umm..." Worst math experience of my life. Never answered people's questions. Read directly off of the overheads. Midterms and final were impossible. Tried to be funny-- not even close. Refused to increase the size of the notes so people could actually see (didn't really matter whether you could see or not). Do the extra credit.
I understood Calculus prior to this class. He explained things in a complicated round-a-bout way, half the time never actually answering the question. I found my grade skyrocketed when I stopped going to lecture and only attended recitation where my TA could explain things in more simple terms. HINT: Do the extra credit at all costs!
Not horrible. Go to office hours and review sessions he holds for tests. Do the extra credit. Don't bother with webwork unless your quiz grades suck. Notes didn't give very good examples. Not much of a curve in the class either. He gets an A for effort, but about a B- for quality.
avoid him if you can it's not about his accent, but about his style of teaching it doesn't matter how well he understands math.. he is not a good teacher but still attend lectures so you can get the answers to webwork
Not the best teacher - find someone better if you can or get a good TA!
The class was pretty much a review of my AP calculus class in high school. The material was pretty easy. Don't be scared by what you have heard. Do the extra credit, the webwork, and study before the quizes and exams and you'll be fine.
He's a nice guy when you get to know him.Tests are hard but he's the best 152 teacher. The grade averages are higher in his class than the others. Also,GO to his office hours, especially before midterms, ask him for previous exams. They HELP. Trust me,I got an A ;) Warning:He does have an accent, and some of the TA's aren't that great. Big curve on final
I loved him!!! there were only a couple lectures that were boring but the other lectures were lovely. he made strange comments reflecting how much he truly loves to teach math. definitely go to office hours during the week and before exams...he'll go step by step through difficult problems. if you want an A, take him, plus he's just a fun guy:)
Not a great teacher. Class is pretty bad just reads off of his notes. His tests are pretty tough even if you study. He was a nice guy but didnt care about the students that much - id suggest another prof
A bit hard to understand, but he really stands out in his passion, which is topped only by how much he cares about his students. Dr. Fiedorowicz will never give up in helping an individual student, and as long as you continue working/trying he will make sure you succeed. Exams are very hard, but if you attend lectures and meet with him over any con
His class is not easy, so many homeworks, quizes and midterms. The lecture is really boring and not useful, you have to learn by yourself if you want to get a better grade. But the good thing is there's no attendence policy and his notes are all on the website.
Talk about a hard class!!! this man was not a good teacher and didnt prepare us for the exam!!!! AVOID HIM AT ALL COSTS!!!! if ur stuck with him, be prepared to teach the entire course to yourself....and get hellp no matter what!!! funny guy sometimes but horrible teacher!!
Hard to understand, but is really laid back. It is not hard to ace the class without attending the lecture (that is if you are good at math). He goes over many webwork problems in class
Tends to lead confusing lectures and doesn't explain much. His notes consist of slides he wrote years ago and he just presents them to the class. My suggestion is don't go to lecture because he posts his notes online and they are essentially worthless and pray you have a good TA.
I beg you to avoid this class at all costs. The man canNOT teach!!!! I actually like math and am a math major and this class completely stumped me!!! he teaches in the most confusing manner known to man!!! Do NOT take his class...if you want to save your gpa.
He is a very nice teacher. The material is very hard, but he helps a lot. You can always argue for points back on your midterm if you feel you've been cheated. He's also very fun to listen to. I recommend this class.
pretty boring
Extremely smart, but almost too smart. Likes to explain the math behind the math (proofs) which are confusing and unnecessary. decent lecturer but you need to good TA to succeed in this class
This man will put you to sleep. He uses an overhead. He turns on a mic, but doesnt use it, so you can't hear him and then you listen to static all class. Teach yourself or pick a different teacher, he is good for a couple laughs, but otherwise is useless.
Very well prepared. A master of the material. Great board work. Very clear and understandable. I wish he would have spent more time giving the motivations, and intuitions for definitions and theorems, even though after some serious thinking a student will usually figure it out alone.
Exams are just like the practice exams. He is very hard to understand with the thick polish accent, so read before you go to lectures.
Class was boring but the good thing is you can score in midterms by just doing past years' questions. Also, to understand the materials, you need to do the exercise given like everyday because i bet you won't be able to understand what he teach in class.
Much better than my 151 teacher. His notes are organized and easy to understand. Averages on the midterms are 62, 68, and 75ish. Study for each and you'll do fine. The final is nearly impossible, but you'll get a decent curve. He is one of the better math teachers at OSU.
I took 1181H. I was in a higher class and dropped down into this one after a couple of weeks. He was very helpful. He has extra office hours before midterms and the midterms are the same format as the review. He adds in a couple take home quizzes and easy homeworks to boost grades after midterms. Great professor overall- really knows the material!
Fiedorowicz is a genius. He gives fair quizzes and midterms, and offers a good buffer of extra credit. His accent and choice of sweaters can be hilarious. Take advantage of the extra credit, and go to class for questions similar to the exam problems.
Z-Bigs is probably the only teacher that can make honors calculus a class worth taking. The cutest old man ever, he is extremely knowledgable but class can seem intimidating. He offers a ton of extra credit and out of class office hours. Take home quizzes and problem sets help pad the grade. His best quality is his dress game: straight grandpa
He is extremely knowledgable, but sometimes is hard to understand in class. Go to office hours, there are usually not many people there, and he explains things so well. He also does problems similar to the quizzes and tests. He offers extra credit and his practice midterms help tremendously for the actual ones. Plus, he's so adorable.
He's a great guy who's there to help you whenever you may need it.
The class is very tough, but "Zig" really cares about his students' success. If you come to office hours, he will always give you as much help as you need.
He's cool.
I really enjoyed having Zig as a professor. This was the most challenging courses I have ever take. Be ready to give up your life. However, if you put in the required amount of work then you will get a lot out of it.
Oh yeah.
Did not enjoy the class.
His class is difficult, but fair.
Took both 4181H and 4182H with Zig. Fair grader, given the proof-based nature of the classes, but make sure you justify your work. Homework sets are very long, so expect to put in some effort. He often diverges from the text. Take-home exams save exam grades. Very helpful if you go to office hours.
Great professor, very eager to help if you need it
Zig is a solid professor for 4181H but you will need to put in the work to get results. You will get lots of long homeworks but he is flexible about the due dates if you ask him to push it back in class. Sometimes his handwriting is a little hard to read but his lectures are very useful and his curves are extremely generous
Zig is a great professor. He really cares about his craft and his students. The class is lecture heavy and be ready to do a LOT of homework. That being said, the problems are helpful and the exams are fair. ZIg does a great job at putting some panache in the otherwise dry subject.
Zig is a really solid instructor for 4181H (Analysis I). I learned so much from him about single variable calculus! However, a tragedy is that his 4182H (Analysis II) lectures which are not as enjoyable as those for Analysis I, which perhaps is due to the level of students in the 4182H session - (confusingly) much lower than that of 4181H session!
In this term, Zig gave a lot of extra credits which certainly made him more respected among his students. There is a Chinese proverb which goes like "if you ever want to learn Analysis, then you should learn it from Zig": His handouts are amazing (although some times full of typos! ): very helpful to do well in his tests or to learn some new math!
I'm a freshman and Zbigniew Fiedorowicz is my favorite professor so far. If you are willing to put in some work, you would receive a good grade. The exams and quizes are usually easier that the stuff he talks about during class. You should hand in homeworks in time but he is pretty flexible with them.
Zbigniew's lectures are difficult to understand and they are usually not related to exams. He is not accessible outside class, never responded my email or text. Plus, not friendly and too much homework.
Excellent.
Zig gives out extra credit stuff like extra problems or attending math competitions. He doesn't answer questions all that well during lectures, but he's very willing to do homework questions. The homework is very long and sometimes tedious (a lot of calculations instead of proofs) so it's good to start on those early.
He just goes from topic to topic so fast. There's never a break. Notes everyday really gets to you. He doesn't explain things too well either. He sometimes goes too fast and you're more focused on just copying the notes rather than trying to understand them. There's so much content, it's hard to comprehend everything. Long, hard homeworks also.
So confusing. Concepts go unexplained. He writes so fast but talks so slow, you can only just copy what he writes without understanding a thing.
Sooo confusing. Never understood a thing from lectures
Zig's lectures are boring and confusing, and the tests are more difficult than the homework problems. He will not meet with you outside of office hours. He makes many mistakes and typos in the notes, so things get confusing. The only saving grace is the curve. Math was always easy for me, but this class sucked the life out of me.
4182H is much harder than 4181H and so you're even more dependent on his teaching rather than your prior knowledge and his teaching is awful - constant notes with unclear explanations. Homeworks will easily take a whole day minimum. There's a little EC on exams. This is the first time I've ever gotten below an A- in any course, so this is no joke.
He was very fair in terms of grading and the class was set up in a way that was very easy to end with a good grade (lots of extra credit, generous grading scale). However, he is so rude! He has one of those brains that understands everything the first time and doesnt understand how someone could be confused. He was very rude during office hours.
I felt that he was very fair in the way that he structured points and exams in the course. He always gives review problems before exams, and he has a lot of office hours throughout each week to answer questions. He also has multiple huge extra credit opportunities throughout the semester that can boost your grade multiple letters if you do them.
The lecture is very boring. Only half people attend his course. Before each exam, this teacher will provide a review file. Try to be able to dictate the answer to each question in this file. That's all you need to do before each exam.
