Zeph is the best teacher i've had at this school. He really goes the extra mile to make sure the class understands what he is teaching. If any student has a look of confusion on their face he doesn't continue on he asks what the person doesn't understand...I can't say I had another teacher that was that helpful. And his extra credit rules!A+++++

Excellent class, this is the first time I've ever gotten an A in a math class or a perfect score on a test. Very patient with students and explains things until they can understand it. Of course, some students take advanage of this and talk the entire duration of the class.

Zeph was my teacher for math 1010-1050-1060. He is great. First of all he makes math fun. He really takes the time to explain things.He sends emails with current grades which is awesome. I never thought. Homework and reworks of tests help a lot. He got really popular at Redwood so he is now teaching at south city.

Intermediate Algebra online. Zeph was great. Very communicateive. I like the way the class was set up with MyMathLab. I've learned more about math in this class then I have in any previously. I'm taking with Zeph again for the next level & am looking forward to it!

Online math 1010. I like the way that the class was set up online. Had to make a few calls to him with questions he was able to answer over phone. You pretty much self teach in this online class. It would have been very helpful to have reviews after every chapter. I got a "A", but I did spend about 120 hours to complete the class. Great option!

he is amazing i absolutly hated math until i got into this class he makes it fun and he knows his stuff. i have been sick most this simester and he has let me come talk to him and work with him during his office hours. i am used to failing math and now i have an A in the class. sighn up quick cause his class fills up fast.

Awesome Teacher, You really have to try to fail his class. He does quizs which you can make up half the points on your test that you missed. Great teaching style. There is really nothing bad I can say about him.

i never would have passed this class if it wasn't for him. he explains everything in a way everyone in the class can understand and goes out of his way to make sure each student understands the material. all the hw is online which is VERY helpful. no need to buy the book! his jokes are pretty ok too : ) TAKE HIS CLASS!!

Probably the best teacher I've ever had. Gives you a quiz to makeup for up to half of what you missed on the test. Let's you decide what percent tests, homework, and the final would be worth. Homework was all online with no due dates. Explained things very well and always willing to help. And he's got a good personality, keeps the environment fun.

Zeph is great. He gives you every opportunity to get an A in his class. He does make up quizzes to get points back after tests. His tests are multiple choice. All homework is online so you don't have to turn in a paper. He has review pages where he has worked out every problem and shown how to do it for preparing for tests. Register for him.

I took math 1010 from a different teacher at SLCC and I can't believe that teacher was teaching the same subject as Zeph. He made everything so easy to understand...He's a great teacher!

Wow! What can I say. I've had him for 1010 and 1050 and I wish he taught other math classes. He made it very understanding and clear. He likes to joke around but he still stays on course. He makes math easy to understand.

He has a gift for teaching. Before taking his class, I always had trouble with math, but he explained it in a way that was easy to understand. He's also willing to answer questions & help you out if you don't get it right away. I was never good at math, but I managed to get an A in his class. Highly recommended, he is a great teacher.

Zeph does just about everything possible to make sure you succeed. His explanations make you think "How did I not understand this before?" Not to mention his clever acronyms to help you remember what you always used to forget. He even has a final review with a key that he wrote himself to help clarify any last minute jumbles. Extra credit opportunities with music concerts. Help students outside of classrooom during office hours. Downside is you cannot take him again until Math 2250.

Hands down the best math professor I have had to date, that includes all the algebra courses and three calculus courses. He encourages questions and ensures they are answered. He even answered questions I have had from previous math courses that never got answered (calc 2). Wish I could take PDEs from him. Highly recommended!!!

Not only is Zeph a MAJOR babe, he is an amazing teacher. I have taken many Math classes from him and he is SO good. Math 1050 is hard - you have to do your homework and study out of class, but if you go to class and take good notes everything Zeph will teach you will help you.

Zeph is an incredible teacher. I've struggled with algebra my entire life. It just never made sense to me, until this class. The class IS NOT easy. There is a lot of homework, and studying if like me, you're not familiar with the material. But in my opinion, if you struggle, this is the class you need to be in. Zeph made it learnable for me.

Take this course from Zeph if you want to not only enjoy your class time, but learn how to do the material. His goal is to help you succeed. This isn't any easy class,but it shouldn't be. The departmental final is difficult and you need to be prepared. You can pass if you attend the lectures and do the work. Great professor, take his classes!

I hadn't taken math in over 5 years, but since it's a requirement at SLCC, I signed up for Zeph's class. I've never been a "math" person, but Zeph made all the work we did seem simple and doable. Zeph makes math fun! Take this class from him! But be ready to wake up at midnight to register. His classes fill up SO fast.

Zeph Smith is a fantastic instructor. The subject matter isn't easy (for everyone) but his approach to teaching is very logical. He taught us simple tricks that helped me see what was actually being asked of the equation. He's funny and keeps you informed on your grade.

Mr. Smith is a good math teacher without having an ego. Our assignments were done online which I found more helpful than previous experience using the book. He was recommended to me and a chose a different teacher / different location because of convenience. That was a MISTAKE!! I had to retake the class to really learn it. Fantastic teacher!!

Without a doubt the BEST teacher I have ever had! Although there was a ton of homework, EVERY DAY, it really prepared me for the tests. I spent about 4 hours a day on homework and received an A in the class. He is truly a master of the content and he is genuinely interested in helping students learn. I'm taking MATH-1060 from him next semester.

I took Zeph because of reviews on this site, and I am SO GLAD I did! He really understands math, and wants all of his students to succeed! I am terrible with math, but he allowed resubmissions of our tests, so long as we gave an in depth explanation of why we missed what we missed, and gave back half credit. I cannot believe I got an A! I have been meaning to rate this guy. He is a master at his craft. I understood math so incredibly well when I was taught by him. I'm in Calc 2 now. But I joke with him that if my dad was on Forbs, I would pay him a yearly salary to teach me all the math I need to get my minor in mathematics. He was awesome. He really works with you if you have trouble and he makes the class interesting. I have never found a math class to be interesting but he sure made it happen! He is really funny but at the same time he is really good at teaching.

Not only does Zeph excel at math, he excels at teaching it, too. He goes at the pace of the students who are having a harder time picking up concepts, making sure to answer all questions before moving on. I'd never seen that before this semester. To put it bluntly, you'd be a fool not to take at least 1010 and 1050 math from this man.

Zeph is a really great Math teacher. Even if you are horrible at math he will make it possible to receive a good grade. I'm horrible at math but I worked hard and got an A. He will let you make up to half of your points back on your test and gives sufficient extra credit. Take his class. You wont regret it.

I took his math 1060 class online and everything was really organized. The course was hard but if you had any issues he was easy to get a hold of through email. He also gave you extra opportunities to increase your grade.

I took 1060 online. I was dreading it because I am generally more algebraic in my thinking. But throughout this course, I learned that visual and spatial mathematics really are algebraic, as well. Once I came to this realization, the content was much easier, but still quite difficult. Hey, it's Trig.

This is the second time I've taken 1010, but this time around was much more beneficial. Smith is very organized and straight forward. He uses MyMathLab, which has a lot of helpful functions. He didn't teach much because it was online, but be prepared to do A LOT of work. Stay ahead, study, understand the concepts, and you'll do just fine.

I took this class online. I was apprehensive going into the semester because I've never been very good at math... but Zeph is a great teacher! Will let you take the quizzes and tests as many times as you need to ensure you get a good grade and understand the material. He's very prompt with responses and is always helpful. Do whatever you need to do, to get into Zeph's class. I took Math 0920, 0950, 0990 (three times) and 1010 (three times) before I found Zeph, and now I just walked out of my statistics final with an A! All because of a great teacher and some hard work and determination. This guy was born to teach.

Why Zeph is the B.E.S.T teacher ever. 1) He loves teaching, he is way patient, and positive. 2)His homework don't get lower than 90% but don't let it accumulate. Can retake quizzes for full credit and the group projects. 3) emphasis probably overly patient. 3)he is funny. BAD THING is his class fills up so fast I can't register for 1050

Zeph is a perfect 1010 instructor. Zeph works hard to be as helpful as possible and always looks to assist the class in succeeding. He gives you every opportunity to EARN an A. Online Summer is only recommended if you have 3 hours a day to work on the material. Hard, but it was worth it. I got out what I put in. Lots of work!

Zeph is a good instructor. He sends messages to see if anyone has any questions. He will send videos to you showing how to correct missed questions so you can resubmit for full credit. However, you need to practice the material to get it down or you will forget during the final. I ran out of time during the final and still got an A- in the class.

Let me start by saying Zeph is awesome. He tries to make class interesting, and likes to make everyone laugh. This material is tough already, and at times he seemed a little unorganized which didn't help. Seemed to favor some people over others which was a little discouraging.

I would have failed this class if it weren't for him. Online math is too hard!!!! You have to teach yourself a lot - but he wants you to succeed and is there for you! Always responded to emails. Don't take math online with a different teacher.

Zeph allows you to retakeredo all your work on mymathlab until you get the concepts. That saved me! This is still math so you definitely need to put time in to learn it but Zeph made it completely painless. I'm hoping to take more classes from him in person!

this was an online class, kept you informed, if you had a problem or question usually answered the same day some times with in minutes. opened all assignments and quiz's and test to boost your grade. Dept. standard midterm and finally.

Do the work, ask questions if you need help. He is there to help you succeed! Also uses the online website, so a textbook is NOT needed! Saved me TONS of money! :)

If you have to take trig, take it from this guy. I've always struggled with trig, and this was my last shot at it. After failing in my previous attempts, he helped get a B+ and helped me prepare for calculus.

This was my second time taking 1010 and I am so glad I happened to get in with Zeph. This guy saved me! I though the second time around would be a piece of cake but I still struggled alot. He would answer any email I sent within hours and respected people for putting in the hard work. LOVE HIM!

had to take this class 3 times 2 twice from Zeph all online my math lab, tests at testing center hot of homework, do not like the math lab program. if you have questions gets back to you fast.

Zeph is an amazing teacher. From the beginning he was specific on what he expected from you as a student. I took this class online, homework was due every day but he is very flexible at grading. Math online is hard but Smith always answered my email very quickly and was helpful with anything I needed. Online program is very easy to understand and work through. Assignments were due every day but could work ahead to have some days off.

Take this professor if you want to learn Trigonometry! He is kind and quickly responds to your emails. The best way to learn, from my experience, is to watch his video lectures (over the texbook's lectures). Two Mid-Terms and a Final. PREPARE YOURSELF FOR THE FINAL! It is challenging. Keep a Trig Journal for reference and the homework is simple.

Zeph was such a great instructor as a whole. He said at the first of the semester that he prides himself on teaching not his knowledge of math. That was SO TRUE! If you didn't get something he would do it over and over different ways till you understood. I loved that he used the free apex textbook... Such a great instructor!

Fantastic professor. I am someone who has always struggled with math-- with Professor Smith, I was able to understand it better and improve my math skills. He wants everyone in his class to succeed and will do his best to make sure they do.

professor smith is the best professor i ever had. he cares about students and does his best to give you chances to learn and get a good grade by resubmitting assignments and just doing a good job teaching. he does some curbing and does extra credit.

I took the online class so I can't say how Professor Smith is as a classroom teacher. All our coursework was taught to us through the book or the book's online tutorials. You have to have a good understanding of math before taking this because there's no one to ask when you're learning a concept. If you like that, it's great! Work when you want!

I took this class online and I agree with someone else's statement that it was awful. Not Zeph's fault though. He was a super caring, thorough teacher and he truly cared about our success. I would definitely take a class with him again, but I would highly advise not taking this class online period, regardless or the teacher.

Zeph is a great professor! Had him for Calc 1 and took him again for Calc 2. He is very caring and helpful of his students. He believes a student's knowledge about a specific math concept will be reflected on the test, using that as a guideline for grading homework on whether or not you did it rather than how well you did on it.

Took Zeph for calc 1 and 2. Would take him for any math course if it was an option. Great teacher. He knows the material. But he is a TEACHER. He can teach and that is why i liked him so much.

This guy rocks, he is practical and knowledgeable. He lets you turn stuff in late and gives you extra credit options. I love his sense of humor and really makes math an enjoyable subject and reduces the stress as much as possible. I love math but many profs here think it should be stressful. This guy is cool and understands that math should be fun.

His lectures were fun for a math class and his homework was pretty easy. His test were easy if you are great at math but with a little studying anyone can pass with a B or better.

This Professor was a real treat and his class was so much fun. He gives extra credits for tests and prepare us very well for his finals. If u show up and do his lectures, then you will definitely get an 'A' for sure. I would really recommend him for any of his classes.

Zeph is a great teacher. He helps you understand in a different way. I've never passed a math class the first time except his 1050 class. He makes class fun and worth going. Don't skip a class or you won't understand the concepts. Stay on top of the homework too. He is great at communicating and gets back to you pretty fast.

I took him after not passing 1060 the first time, and his class was awesome. He was always quick to reply to emails and knew how to bring out a concept for you to understand. His webpage has everything you'd ever need to learn the material. He's a good choice for anyone wondering.

Zeph manages to break down complicated topics in a way anyone can understand, and focuses primarily on ensuring everyone in the class can independently use the presented mathematics (not a lot of proofs). Whether or not you love math, you'll have a great time and will learn tons. If you're looking for the ideal prof, look no further.

If you are an online class type of person like me, you will enjoy this class. Everyone always told me statistics would be hard but I passed with an easy A and learned some interesting new things along the way! I never really interacted with zeph but he did make everything really clear and was always willing to help.

I say inspirational in that this is the first math class in which I've felt that I could get a good grade. I've always felt embarrassed about how much I struggle in math, but this class is catered to the student. If you put the work in, you will succeed, and Mr. Smith will actively help you get there.

Zeph was always so nice and inspires students through infectious enthusiasm for math and learning. He presents concepts in a manner that is simple and easy to understand, catering to various learning levels, speeds and styles. He was very nice and extremely helpful. He made math not only conceptually simple but also fun, which is a first for me.

Zeph is a super awesome teacher. He knows his stuff, and he is super excited to teach. If there is something you don't understand, you can just ask him in the middle of and he is more than happy to give more examples, and other different ways to solve math questions. I would totally recommend him to anyone.

Professor Smith is an excellent professor. His class is well organized and he is always available for help and questions. Attendance is not mandatory and I found that it was fairly easy to pass the class without attending.

If you can help it and unless you are a math whiz, do yourself a favor and do not take this class online. Math 1050 is pretty random and I would have had a much easier time in a classroom. That said, Zeph was a good choice. He grades work/tests within a reasonable amount of time and was always available for feedback.

Excellent teacher,gives good advice on how to remember certain formulas. He is very fast though when it comes to explaining,but will go over it again if asked even then he goes quick. Overall funny and great

Zeph is a wonderful math teacher, you can instantly tell that he cares deeply about each of his student's success. He is easily reached outside of class and encourages questions. If you need help on a tricky problem or an inspirational pick me up, he's your guy. The material you will need to pass the class is on canvas, but attendance is rewarding.

I actually took this class Spring semester of 2018 but I can't see how to change it. It was Math 0980. Zeph has a great sense of humor and was really fun to be in class with. He taught at a good pace and made sure to respond to questions and discussion. He encouraged us to work on homework in class after the lesson was over and was there to help.

Zeph is awesome!!!! Math 1010 is a hard class but he always makes sure that you understand it! Sometimes he goes fast but will slow down if you ask! Hes so funny and is a good teacher overall! He wants to help you pass!

Gives plenty of time to complete assignments! Helps to explain anything you might be unsure about (such as a homework problem) and goes through it with the class. Would recommend!

Zeph wants you to succeed! Great professor, and wants you to ask questions. I have never been a math person but now I understand it a bit better. It's hard but it is possible! If you want a good grade in math, you have to study and do the homework. That's it. No excuses. I am proud of myself and feel good about going into math 1010.

Best Teacher ever, very easy but a resourceful class to take. He is the best math teacher ever. Wow he is knowledgeable and math is so much fun in his class. Just imagine, I took Calc 2 from him and it was so much fun. I really wish if I had get a chance to take more classes from him.

His online Math 1060 class is one of the best online classes I've taken. The expectations are clear and he's lenient on homework (not tests though). You can tell he truly cares about his students and is passionate about teaching others. No MyMathLab! All the assignments and quizzes are integrated through canvas.

While your not required to be in class all the time I recommend you show up, he makes things very simple and easy to understand. A great professor and honestly with I could of taken him again, sadly his classes were full. It is a math course though so expect homework but if you go to class you will be completely fine, 10/10 Take him if you can.

Zeph is a great professor who caters to his students. He accepts late assignments and helps as much as he can before an exam. I am not good at math, but I stopped going to class, except for exams, and did fine. The students in the class were very obnoxious which ruined it for me, but Zeph is awesome. Take him if you can, online is doable.

I really struggle with Math and the setup of Zephs course really helped me. Prepare to read tons but lots of videos and examples are provided to really help you understand concepts. He takes a while to hear back from, but hell answer your questions well. He has discussion boards where other students can ask questions which were really helpful.

I had no taken a math class since my junior year of high school - 11 years ago. Zeph made it very easy to understand the different types of math we covered. He is a very fair grader, just make the effort. I recommend taking notes on a word doc from the very beginning. Also, take advantage of the free tutoring. It'll help.

Professor Zeph is amazing! Math 1010 is hard, there is so much to learn and very little time. He has to go fast to get through all the material, but he cares about your success and will work hard to help you. If you put in the work, he will too. Math is my worst subject but he makes math fun and I enjoined going to class.

This was one of the best online classes I have ever been in. Zeph was organized and very clear about his expectations about everything. He was flexible with due dates and really cared about being accommodating to students who worked full-time. Enough HW to understand material, but not too much. He is humorous and caring about his students.

The professor was great to work with, he allowed flexible due dates and responded quickly to questions and emails. The class is difficult because of the amount of material NOT the professor. You must do your part to studied and be prepared for the exams. I spent easily 8 hours a week studying.

I hadn't taken math in 30 years and I was scared! Zeph's class was well organized. The instructional videos were super helpful. It's a hard class. It took me about 3 hours per day but I'm slow at math now. I studied for a lot for each test. The study guides were very helpful. Zeph set up the class so that anyone can succeed. Glad I took this class!

Made an account just to rate Zeph cause he's that good. I'm dumb and have never felt like I understood anything math related as I did in this class. He's great at explaining concepts and breaking them down for even the dumbest people (talking about myself). If you fail this class, I'm convinced you just didn't try.

Great teacher overall! His jokes are a bit weak but other than that I would take him again. Relaxed late work policy, effective with class time, and provided info outside of the course material that was useful for solving problems.

He's great! Very chill and laid back. He provides so many examples for problems, it was easy to understand the material. The online course was so organized and neat. This was my first math class in many years Professor Smith made it exceptional, he would email me encouraging things and would let you know you are doing a good job. The material used to learn the units is amazing, to it allows you see is if you get the answer right and allows you to redo it and study. Tests are based off those and made math fun!

Professor Zeph was amazing. He is really good and helping you when you need help and really wants his students to succeed. If I could I would probably take his class again. He was always willing to take a step back and explain a subject no matter the time it took. He accepts late work up, and there is 3 exams and 1 final.

Professor Zeph Smith is great, he is very caring and would like everyone to pass his class. I ended up with a C+ because I didn't study as much for the exams, but still ended up passing. I don't believe its up to him to change the exams worth as its 40% of the grade and the final is 30%.

Online classes are a bit harder to learn especially when working 60hrs a week. Exams needed proctored which is hard when you live in another state and move often. Prof did help with early or late exam timing. Wanted things done a certain way, for HW.

math is not easy for me and frankly I never really applied myself in the class I needed a C to transfer and worked a lot. Nice guy and he is willing to help if you want. I didn't study at all and pretty much got 60/100 on 2 tests and 78/100 on another and still got a C so not terrible. the final is optional which is nice. Proctored exams were hard.

Professor Smith is an outstandingly bright and humorous individual. If you ask him a question, he will tailor his response based on how the student reasons; he harbors maximum efficiency in terms of making mathematical concepts clear. His teaching ability is of the highest caliber, as well as his empathy for students. Prepare to laugh and learn.

I really struggle with math and had to take this course 3 times. Having Professor Smith really changed things around for me and allowed me to pass with a B! He accepts late work with no penalty and offers extra credit. Anytime I had a question, he responded quickly & he seems to genuinely care about his students passing. Definitely recommend!

Coolest dude ever. This class was incredibly easy. I got a 99% without really doing much studying at all. He cares a lot about his students and is flexible on late work if you've had a bad event in your life. I was an online student and he even let me join his in person exam review. I personally wouldn't take this course with anyone else. He's dope

Online course, but I like Professor Smith. He seemed genuinely interested in the students and their grades. When everyone did poorly on an exam, he changed the maximum point value so the majority passed. My issue is with his text book, it's poorly written and I mostly learned from the videos put out by someone else.

I had always struggled with math, but it was only with Professor Zeph Smith that I truly started to understand what I needed to do. In addition, the professor did their best to explain each point in a way that all students could understand and apply on their own. The professor's explanations were often more effective than those in the textbook.

Mr Smith is a really good teacher. I recommend taking his class. His lectures are easy to understand and makes math easier to understand. He is very forgiving when its comes to homework and test.

Very good at conveying math concepts I struggled with in the past. Also, while math can be hard to make engaging, he definitely did his best. Very forgiving with grading as well, which was very much appreciated, highly recommend.

The way Mr. Smith teaches, the pace he talks, and how he conducts the class, makes it easy to process information, solve the problems, and learn new things. Would give him the highest of recommendations. Unfortunately had to drop the class due to the commute, and his online course being full already. Will be back for the Fall.

Zeph is a good professor, hes kind, gentle, lenient, and honest. He has a very good understanding of the concepts so you don't have to worry about that, a few times he was stumped by the extra problems but he always figured it out. I recommend taking his class, and work hard in it.

I took the live-stream variant of this course, and can honestly say that I am more than satisfied with the experience I had in Zeph's class. There were 4 midterms and an optional final, which he made sure that you were ready to take. Zeph had a very personal touch with his teaching, and did his best to give as much one-on-one attention as possible.

Zeph is seriously a great guy. While working full time, planning a wedding, school full time and other religious responsibilities I was so overwhelmed and accidentally mistook the day the final was and missed the final, after explaining the situation he very graciously offered me a make up exam. Very understanding10/10.

Good professor, helped me out a lot after class even though I didnt get it in the end. All of his lectures are through online annotated chapter notes and all homework is online. He's understanding and works with you so just depends if you like his style.

I am not great at math, I've always kind of struggled with online learning I have a lot of appreciation for the ways this teacher does his online course. There are so many resources available. He takes the time to make sure everybody understands everything. However, if you are stumped, ASK FOR HELP! He's not scary!

Professor Smith is great! He is an amazing teacher in general, especially if you struggle with math. He teaches well, grades fair and even rounds up your grade. Zeph is one of the only math teachers that has made math easy for me to understand. He is easygoing, and as long as you stay on top of homework, you will pass the class easily. He's also pretty funny and easy to talk to.
