She explains everything very clearly in lectures. Take notes in class, since they really help you to understand course materials. The exercises she put on huskyCT are also very helpful for exams. Exams are easy, "no surprise" as she always says in class. She has a strong Russian accent but not too hard to understand, and you'll find it lovely.
She is the easiest professor I've ever had. She spells things out and repeats things 10 times. She treats students like 5 year olds, but the class is really easy. My advice would be, go to every lecture with earplugs because what she writes is important but her voice will give you a migraine.
Zhanna genuinely cares for her students and wants you to do well. Very hard to listen to her lectures, but the class is extremely easy.
Zhanna is a great professor. While she may be hard to understand at times, you will get the hang of it. If you take notes on what she goes over in class and do the extra problems she puts on HuskyCT you will do fine. She also posts answers to all of the quizzes and a practice exam up weeks before you have to take it. You don't need the book.
Once you get past the accent, the class gets much clearer. Now being out of the class, I realize how helpful her teaching methods were compared to other professors I have had. Most of the information stuck with me because of how organized the information was presented in lecture.
I took this class for math credit. You have to go to lecture to understand how to do the problems. She does lots of examples and walks you through each new concept. The problems she does in class are VERY similar to the ones on the exam. Sometimes she tells you which questions are on exam. She puts everything online so studying is really easy.
Zhanna was a great professor. Going to class is crucial to pass. She does many examples of the concepts in class and will even tell you which topics will be on the exam. Her group quizzes are pretty easy, mintabs are easy but time consuming, and the exams are easy. I studied and worked hard, ended up with a 100 on both exams and 103 on the final.
One of the easiest classes at UConn. Didn't study for either midterm and got 100 and 90 on them. Don't need to go to class, easy A.
There's a lot to say. One, the teacher is extremely caring and considerate, but she is hard to understand. Because of this, she tends to go at a slow pace and repeats everything, which sometimes makes the lecture drag on. The take-home quizzes are based EXACTLY from the notes in lecture, SO GO TO IT! Also the exams are with a formula sheet!
An amazing woman and teacher. Go to class, take notes, DO YOUR QUIZZES, and study hard for the tests. It's not an easy subject (especially if you're terrible at math, like me), but if you work hard you can do well. You're allowed a formula sheet for tests, put examples on it. Go to the Q Center for help with the quizzes.
Zhanna can be difficult to understand sometimes and VERY repetitive which can be annoying, but overall very easy material. Go to lectures and you'll be fine. There are 3 exams, homework and quizzes. Exams are very easy however, are designed so that if you make one minor mistake your grade is hurt tremendously, especially because an A is a 95
Zhanna is a great professor but difficult to understand at times, but not so bad you won't get the material. The material is extremely easy if you attend every lecture and keep up with the homework. Minitab is essentially a joke in this class and the assignments are a breeze. Zhanna is super nice and goes at a slow pace so everyone understands.
I loved Zhanna. Although she has a strong accent, she's very clear in the material she presents and explains everything thoroughly. Sometimes they drag though. The only homework is Minitab (easy!). Go to lectures and do the practice problems and you'll be golden. All the exams allow a formula sheet,so they aren't too hard. Don't buy the textbook!
If you have to take Stat at UConn, take it with Zhanna!! Although her accent can be a bit tough to get used to she is a very sweet lady and a great teacher! Tests and assignments are very clear. The only annoying part is that in order to get an A you must get a 95 in the class. It's doable though!
you need to go to lecture, she explains everything there. sometimes tests are blindsides. but also she wont round your grade even if youre .2 away, which is ridiculous. the class is fairly easy but easy to make mistakes on exams which are 90% of your grade. shes nice and funny but strict and stuck in her ways.
No textbook, think I went to lecture maybe 3 times and only went to discussion to turn in Minitab then left. First half of semester was very easy review, then class took off a little. Only studied for exams the night before never prepared for class-- finished with a B. If you put in effort, easy A, if not solid B.
Zhanna is a good professor. She cares about you passing and makes the course relatively easy. A lot of the material you should already know and is self explanatory. The only problem is the dependence on the exams. Three exams: 25, 30, 35% of your grade. If you mess up on one, it can be difficult to recover. Also, lectures are incredibly boring...
If you are taking an intro Stats course, you have to take it with Zhanna. 3 exams, straight forward from the study guide and you get a 8"x11" cheat sheet. Very easy to not go to class at all and learn the basic stats the night before the exam. First exam felt like a middle school test.
Nothing she taught was too hard to study the day before the exam. Minitab is super easy and is her "extra credit" opportunity. You don't have to show up to lecture, use her lecture notes online and you'll still do well. If you go to class you just get more practice. 1 front and back cheat sheet. If you can do the sample exam you will do great
First of all, Zhanna is a great professor. She is one of those professor who makes the first exam really easy, then hits your hard on the second and final. However, she make sure her students understand the concepts of the lecture materials. Also her accent is pretty amazing!
Zhannas lectures are pretty confusing but she absolutely isn' t trying to trick you. Homework and exams are easier than example problems. Everything is fairly straight forward.
She is one of the best professors I've ever had. Her lecture focuses on doing example questions that are very similar to the ones on the three exams. She explains the material clearly and makes it easy to understand. MOST IMPORTANTLY, she allows you to use a one page cheat sheet for the exams. Go to the lecture, take good notes, and you'll get A.
She really cares about her students and wants them to be successful. The exams are not bad because you can use cheat sheet. Since the material is very straight forward, once you get a good cheat sheet it's an easy A.
A very kind and caring lady. The course content itself is actually not hard regardless of how good you math background is. Homework contains questions needing calculation and Minitab related questions, both are manageable as long as you read the notes and go to the discussions. Really like her lovely Russian accent.
I really like this professor! She is so nice! Even though she has accent, it doesn't matter at all. If you go to each lecture and take notes, you can get a essay A. She is the best professor I ever met.
Go to lecture! She doesnt post lecture slides, so you need to be there- but the lectures and examples make the material easy to understand. you can bring formula sheets for every exam and quiz and shes very caring and willing to answer questions. There is also a group quiz each week in discussion (easy 100%). Make sure to use her practice exams.
Zhanna is such a sweetheart and is really passionate about what she teaches. She really shows care for the students. If you are not amazing at math, GO TO LECTURE! She covers a lot of math and example problems in one class. The exams are difficult, but the problems you go over in class are much more difficult than the ones on the exam.
great lectures; super thorough and provides a lot of practice problems. she doesnt upload stuff she writes down during lectures so you probably dont wanna skip but you could probably scrape by with the things she does upload. you're allowed a cheat sheet for quizzes and exams which helps a lot and the quizzes/exams are also not too hard.
Zhanna is honestly such a sweet lady and really goes through concepts slowly to make sure everyone understands them. This class is such an easy A, especially if you took AP stats. You get a double sided cheat sheet for every exam. The first exam is painfully easy and is basically designed for you to get a 100 but the exams do get harder.
If you want a good statistics professor, you found your professor. Exams have too few problems, of which many are connected, so if you make one mistake it may overly decrease your grade. Otherwise, everything else is solid. Zhanna teaches interesting and applicable information within the real world. Not difficult at all.
Zhanna is very clear in her lectures and is also a very caring and sweet woman. She always makes it clear that she is available for help and also made the course expectations really clear. The class was also definitely an easy A.
If you get a 79.99 then you get a C+ Or a 89.99 is a B+. Beware this professor does not believe in rounding grades, and lets you know that on the first day, also no EC. This was the most unfair aspect of her grading. Also exams are out of 100 points usually around 20 questions, except the final was 32 questions. Not much room for error on exams.
Lectures can be VERY SLOW, which is good for understanding, but it is boring to be at. Don't skip tho, the online notes have extra, confusing info. She writes out notes with you in class. Sweet lady who wants everyone to do well. Full page front and back cheat sheet for every quiz/exam. HW assignments are annoying, do them early. Easy Q class.
I really liked Zhana because you knew exactly what was on the test. She was super organized, great at updating grades and HuskyCT. Her lectures were definitely slow but she always covered the proper content and really cared about students doing well.
She is amazing. Her notes are super clear, and tests have almost the same questions as the quizzes during discussion. Lecture can be slow and boring, but go because the notes help for the tests. You are allowed a cheat sheet for the tests, if you put in effort for the hw and make a good cheat sheet, you will get an A.
Zhanna is honestly the BEST. She's funny and caring, she made everything so easy to understand. Def go to class because her notes help ALOT. Group quizzes every week, but you get cheat sheets, drops two lowest quiz grades. Very accessible and I would recommend her to any of my friends. Gives study guides for exams and also does review sessions.
Super easy as long as you go to class. Her lectures are pretty dry because she goes through a lot of examples, but she teaches for the exams. Be sure to take good notes because she doesn't post her class notes online. Don't buy the textbook.
Zhanna did a good job with making sure the material was clear, but she always claimed that if you did the quizzes and example problems online you would be fine in the class. However, the exams were much harder than the quizzes and examples she gives on HuskyCT. She's a good professor, just a hard class.
Very caring professor. Her lectures are her doing problems step by step and super helpful. Your grade is 80% exams so make sure you do well on them because group quizzes and Minitab are worth only 20% of your overall grade. Attendance is not enforced definitely recommend towards the end of course. You're allowed one full sheet of paper per exam.
Zhanna is great. Not a difficult class- straightforward material as long as you go to class. Lectures are boring, but her examples/processes/explanations are what you need to do well on exams. Gives helpful practice exams. Go to lecture, show up for discussion quizzes, make EQ sheet, and review material a few days before exam and you'll do well.
Graded off of tests, homework, and weekly quizzes. Everything was fairly easy, so no extra credit is given. Zhanna gives a lot of time to do the minitabs. The lectures can be somewhat boring and drag on, but are bearable. Don't bother buying the book, I didn't even open mine once.
My advice is to go to lecture, notes are posted online but can be confusing and are WAY more in depth than what this class will expect. Quizzes are not too difficult, and they are done in groups. Exams are harder than the quizzes and count for a lot so definitely study a couple days before. Homework comes in the form an Excel-like program MiniTab.
very long lectures but bearable. Cheat sheets are allowed for both exams and group quizzes so use them wisely. Once you get a hang of the class it should be an easy A. Quiz every discussion lowest two are dropped.
Zhanna is definitely an amazing women who cares about her students. Lectures are super boring most of the time but it honestly helps at times. Her examples explain every step with detail, and she does multiple examples for each kinds of problems. The exams are really easy, but make sure you pay attention to examples in class even if its boring
If you miss her class you miss a lot of the notes which are pretty useful. You get to make your own front and back cheat sheet, she's really nice and funny. She really cares about her students and wants everyone to do well. She is probably the best of the stats 1000 level teachers.
Zhanna has a very thick Russian/ Ukranian accent that is rather hard to understand and this makes lectures difficult sometimes. She is one of the nicest professors I have had though. Make sure you understand things and are not just blindly copying down things from class without understanding it as this will not help on exams. Later exams are harder
Not hard if you take good notes and review them!
This class is very easy, but lectures are extremely long and boring. Her accent makes it difficult to understand her, and hard to pay attention. However, she writes down everything she says that is important, so you don't really have to listen to what she is saying to understand it. You get to make a double sided formula sheet for exams and quizzes
She's a real gem you guys! she emphasizes the main pos of the course and the exams are not cumulative. Just come to class. though because she doesn't upload lecture slides on Huskyct. She gives a lot of examples to help students learn and the weekly quizzes are a good sport. Take her!!! esp if you not really the math type. She'll help u breeze thru
Zhanna is a solid choice for a professor. She has a thick Russian accent and her handwriting is awful at times, but the lecture slides are online so that should help clear up confusions. She goes in-depth on the formulas and does a lot of examples in class, which is helpful. She creates reviews, and you get a 2 sided sheet for exams and quizzes.
Exams make up most of your grade. She doesn't round, and there's no extra credit, so if you do poorly on the exams (25 multiple choice questions, 5 points a piece), you're not in a good spot. Exam questions are based off each other usually, so if you get one part wrong, you probably got a whole lot more wrong. She's very nice, but strict w/ grading
She is caring and tries her hardest to help students understand the material. You need to go to lecture or at least get the notes from someone. She does post very helpful formula tips/tricks and things you need to remember to get the right answers. She is very clear with what will be on the exams. There are only 3 exams and she is a tough grader.
Zhanna is a caring professor. She wants students to do well, but you have to put in the work for it and go to class. We have weekly quizzes in discussion which start easy and get more difficult. Lectures are SO boring and lifeless but necessary to go to because she doesn't post the notes online. Good choice for STAT
She does not post lectures online so you have to go to class. 2 exams and 1 final. 10 quizzes and 5 minitabs. Clear lectures and easy to follow along. Not hard to pickup on.
I was really nervous to take intro stats because I'm not a math person at all. Professor Pozdnyakova made it really easy to understand. She has an accent but she repeats things often and drills phrases into your head that you'll remember on exam day. The discussion section was very straight forward, minitab assignments and weekly group quizzes.
Once you get past her thick accent, her class is pretty fine to take. Her lectures are clear and help you understand the material. The discussion sections help with the units and there's a group quiz each week. 3 exams total and some Minitab work, but you get a cheat sheet to help. Really not bad at all.
I never took Stats in high school, but Professor Pozdnyakova made the course really easy to understand and pass. She does not post her lectures online, so you have to go to class and take notes. She does have an accent, but you will get used to it. She is very approachable and repeats a lot of things so that it sticks with you.
Lectures were very slow and boring. She only did examples and never really taught. The exams weren't bad but lectures were painful to sit through. You can get by pretty well by just reading the PowerPoint slides and not going to class.
I'm taking this fully online (COVID) and am not a fan. None of it is synchronous so she posts all of her lectures but she ALWAYS goes longer and she's impossible to understand so you end up spending well over 2 hours on what should be a 1-hour lecture. She's not open to questions and responds with sass and attitude. Would not take again!
Zhanna is an alright lecturer. Her accent can be difficult. Additionally, STAT 1000Q is not the most interesting class. But, Zhanna is a solid choice. The first 2 exams are easy, the last one, in my opinion, was hard.
I'm sure she's a way better professor in person, but this course was insanely difficult online. The lectures were long and hard to follow. Homework was really easy just a little time-consuming. If you're not inclined to statistics as it is, this course is pretty hard to understand online. I found her difficult to reach and kinda distant in general
To preface, I am taking this course completely online due to COVID-19. Professor Pozdnyakova may be a better lecturer in person, but online it is very difficult to understand her due to her accent. Her course grading relies almost exclusively on weekly quizzes, of which her lectures are the only way to learn. It is a monotonous way to learn.
Her video lectures are extremely thorough and easy to understand (people who are saying her accent is hard to understand are probs just prejudiced, its really not hard to understand). Even if you find stats a difficult subject, she is so good at explaining, you're sure to do well in the class! She's also accessible for extra help.
She is a good teacher. explains things so very thoroughly. I really dont understand why some people left bad reviews. If you have half a brain youll do well in this class cause she tries to hard to explain things.
Taken during COVID-19. Lectures are extremely long and dry and very difficult to follow her. Only passed this class because of my TA and the classes with him. If you reach out to her about a question or misunderstanding, she's very rude and will make you feel stupid. Had a difficult time understanding her lectures with her strong accent as well.
Shes the best!! Once you understand her accent this class makes complete sense. She does a great job teaching the material in a way to understand it. The class is not overwhelming and I am terrible at math but loved her class.
I have never been a fan of mathematics nor am I very good at it! If you are good at math this class should be fine for you. If you struggle with math, I recommend a different professor. She is very nice but he accent makes her difficult to understand and she not very accessible outside of class. If you need some hand holding, choose someone else!
This class started easy but got harder as time passed and the workload got more tedious. Make sure you keep up with lectures and maybe get extra help from a STAT professor. The weekly quizzes will help your overall grade if you understood the lecture material. Don't make the mistake of missing minitab assignments.
There are quizzes and a minitab assignment due every week. The class is kinda split into two. They offer tutoring. I just feel like you have to teach yourself if you can't make it to tutoring class. Zhanna Pozdnyakova only posted lecture videos every two weeks. two exams worth 25% and a final worth 30%. also a TA that helps
Prof. Pozdnyakova is very good at lecturing. She is very thorough in her lectures. In the online format, we had about 3 hours of lectures a week and a weekly quiz. Make sure you study and understand the lectures and the slides, as well as practice the problems/examples on them. That's what the exams are based off of.
You dont need the textbook, you only need the MINITAB book. The class was easier than expected. Her lectures were explained well. Because of covid the exams were all multiple choice. The quizzes have three attempts and not too bad.
Her lectures were long but she went really in-depth which was nice. Your grade is 80% exams which sucks, I never got higher than an 88. Her wording on exams is kinda confusing and there are only a few questions so if you get one wrong your grade drops. Overall this class was a fairly easy Q course, but I'd take STAT 1100Q w McLaughlin if I could
WORST PROFESSOR IVE EVER HAD. SHE LITERALLY DOES THE BARE MINIMUM AND DOES NOT HELP WHEN YOU HAVE A QUESTION. SHE HAS A BAD ATTITUDE I WOULD NOT RECCOMEND THIS PROFESSOR AT ALL. YOU ARE BETTER OFF JUST NOT TAKING THIS CLASS.
Hard to understand, doesn't really answer any questions. She just assigned video lectures and a quiz every week which doesn't help with anything.
Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, this professor thought it was best to pre-record her lectures and expect everyone to master the material. No matter what you got on the quizzes, the same material could be found on the exams. As to say, I found her teaching methods to be very lazy and unsophisticated. (AKA) You gotta know everything to take this.
Zhanna is a horrible lecturer. Wont listen to students when they ask her to slow down and tells us the slides are on HuskyCT. You get paid to teach not to post slides and ignore your students. This isnt her fault but she also has an accent. Her accent is fairly easy to decipher when she isnt speaking super fast.
One of the easier classes I have taken. You get used to her accent quickly. Material is so straightforward it hurts. Does not get hard until the last exam. Pretty much spells out what to expect on the exams which were always very easy. Weekly quizzes can be done in groups and were always pretty easy. MiniTab is the worst part by far.
I skipped her class a few times and watched the online lectures which were basically like being in class. She gives 3 opportunities to do well each quiz and has helpful study guides for the exams. She's nice and her accent will not hinder on your understanding of the material. As someone who was bad at stats in high school, I recommend her!
Professor Pozdnyakova is a great teacher. She really seems to care about her student's success and the material is very clear and accessible. Honestly, if you do the homework and show up to lecturers I don't see why you couldn't make an A in the class. She goes over lots of examples in class and provides practice exams with detailed solutions.
She is an average professor. Her class was in a large lecture hall, so there was little to no one on one time. Her homework assignments took so long to do, not because they were overly challenging, but they were very tedious.
Zhanna was okay. She has a pretty heavy Russian accent that was difficult for me to understand but others didn't complain. I found it helpful to watch the recorded lecture posted on HuskyCT so I could pause and rewind to clarify what she was saying. I found this more efficient than going to class personally. Overall it was fine.
Good professor who knows her stuff. Really boring lectures but it is math. Shes nice and funny. Quizzes are 3 attempts and online and exams are one attempt but online. Quizzes easy exams harder. Mini tab is annoying at first but then a super easy grade once you get it. Your TA will guide you in class on minitabs dont be afraid.
Lectures are boring, but very helpful given the material. Quizzes and tests are reasonable with multiple tries for quizzes, and tests being open book. Minitab homework is annoying and not helpful, but is graded. Overall, a solid choice for a Q credit.
Weekly quizzes are easy, Minitab assignments are frustrating but not bad. The 2 exams also not too bad, and many helpful study guides were provided on HuskyCT. But, her lectures were not good. The pacing was odd, as she often skipped right through actual notes and went right to example questions. Taking AP stats in HS saved me the last few weeks.
Had an A all semester... An A on all quizzes, and A on the first exam and a B on the second exam. Failed the final. Though the final was not accumulative, it's the biggest chunk of your grade. My grade in her class dropped from an A-, to a 79.68. She refused to round it. She can't comprehend the difference between rounding and curving. Don't do it.
My grades: 100% exam 1, 90% exam 2, 80% final, 100% HW+quizzes. Still ended up with an A- sadly. ZP teaches you like you're children and really dumbs it down so it's hard not to understand the content. I think she's a great prof but I wish there were more things to be graded on or extra credit. She also posts lectures online so you can miss classes
Her teaching style is basically introducing a new concept at the beginning of the class, and then doing a bunch of practice problems. Sometimes, you will understand the concept after one example and then she will do 4 more very similar problems. This can get very boring. This is my only complaint.
Very good prof. Her accent may be a little hard to understand at first, but it actually makes the lectures more interesting. The content for this course is easy, but if you struggle in math then she would be a great professor for you because she goes fairly slowly through material.
This class is semi manageable. She is hard to understand when she talks because she has a heavy accent. She also moves through the slides rather quickly and is not the easiest to understand. Exams are pretty easy and weekly quizzes are too.
Zhanna is a top-tier professor. She gives so many examples in class and makes the content so clear that it hurts. Attend lecture and study a bit and you'll be fine. She's also super caring, always asking if we need her to slow down or need extra help. Only complaint is that the minitab assignments can be a pain. But overall a great prof
Amazing professor! Writes the lectures in class so the students can write notes at the same speed. Material can be tricky farther into the semester but everything is stated in the lecture and gone over thoroughly. The discussion section of this class is not needed. Barely anyone showed up after the first two weeks. One of the best professors
She is a very sweet person! Her lectures may be hard to understand at first because of her accent, but you get used to it and the slides are very clear. Do the practice problems and you will be fine for weekly quizzes and exams. You also get three attempts on the weekly quizzes. The homework is on MINITAB and graded by the TAs. Nice class overall!
Class isn't too difficult as long as you attend lectures and take notes. The professor does have a strong accent, so sometimes it's hard to understand what she's saying and she goes through slides fairly quickly, but her notes are pretty good. Overall, class isn't too bad.
She is very sweet and definitely wants to help her students succeed. The material gets harder throughout the semester. I recommend making friends in the class who can help you. Even though she went over stuff a lot of times, it still was confusing to me outside of class. If you put in effort outside of class then you should do fine.
I think Pozdnyakova is a good teacher but I'm not as a high on her as most people seem to be. Her class is very clear and well structured, and all the assignments/exams are pretty easy. She's decent at teaching the material, at UConn I've had far better and far worse. Overall the class is pretty easy and she's a pretty decent teacher.
Don't bother with the textbook, just show up to lecture and pay attention/take notes. The weekly quizzes and the exams are all very similar to the practice problems so as long as you understand those you'll be fine. She does have an accent but you get used to it pretty quickly. The discussion section is pointless but there are easy HW assignments.
She's an okay lecturer, she can be tough to understand but she's nice. I wish she posted more practice problems rather than the ones from lecture but otherwise she was okay.
If you put in the time and effort outside of class then it isn't too hard to do well. Attending lectures is important since she doesn't post her notes but you don't have to go to discussion. Weekly quizzes and minitabs were easy but exams required a lot of studying and were a tossup.
I am just generally not a math person! I thought she explained things well and went over everything in depth. Pay attention and take notes and you should be good! The tests are open note and can be taken anywhere as well!
Zhanna was a very straight forward professor. Her notes and examples in class almost directly correlated to quiz and exam problems. Exams are all multiple choice and fairly easy if you pay attention in study. MiniTab was a bit frustrating but if you have a good TA it shouldn't be a problem. Overall, a very easy and straight forward Q class.
I came into this class with zero knowledge of stat and I had an easy time in this class. Quizzes and exams are open note so they were pretty easy. She is a very good lecturer and does a lot of examples. The only annoying part of the class is minitab but they aren't very hard.
The minitab and weekly quizzes can be annoying but it helps your grade. She doesn't curve your exams but at the end of the semester she drops your lowest minitab and quiz grade. You have 2 midterms and a final. If you score higher on your final than one of your midterms, she will drop your lowest midterm grade.
There are weekly quizzes that you have 3 chances to get full credit on. The exams make up most of your grade, however most of the answers can be found on chegg. She has a thick accent, however if you try to understand her it is not really that bad. She clearly wants her students to do well and answers lots of questions.
I liked the class even though I didn't attend lectures. Quizzes/Exams/etc were all posted online so I taught myself. However the exams are worth a BIG part of your grade so if you aren't a good self-learner, definitely attend the lectures. She's a nice teacher but if you have a hard time understanding accents, it may be a little difficult for you.
Her accent is not hard to understand, I'm not sure why so many people are commenting on it. She is a very easy professor. Quizzes have multiple attempts and exams are online. The first two exams were very easy. The final is a bit tough so I would study extra for that.
Great professor imo; class is very organized and notes are posted. Thick but understandable accent. Cares about how you do during class, encourages you to go to her office hours, and writes pretty good notes during lecture. Weekly quizzes (3 chances per) and decently easy exams. Overall pretty easy and made me genuinely enjoy stats.
Accent makes it difficult to understand but very nice. Graded by weekly quizzes which you have 3 attempts. Two exams and a final which are online and open note. Minitab assignments are annoying but if you have a good TA and attend discussion you will be fine.
Wouldn't advise you to take it unless required. 3 exams all multiple choice online/lockdown browser taken outside of class, online quizzes every week w/ 3 attempts, & weekly homework on MINITAB that you won't understand unless you go to discussion. If you skip, you prob won't pass. Good thing is the Q center is so helpful & only reason I have an A
Great prof. Has a thick accent but you learn to understand her and she writes down everything important. Quizzes every week (open note) and lowest grade gets dropped. Three exams (open note) and lowest exam score is replaced by final exam score. Homework about once a week, super easy. Don't get the textbook, you don't need it at all.
Zhanna is a great professor, explains all the material really clearly and does several example problems during the lecture to make sure you understand the material. If you do the homework assignments on time and pay attention in the lectures you will be fine.
Zhanna is a great professor and teacher, and gives lot of examples. Her test are open note and online so you can use any notes you may take. Minitab is annoying but once you get the hang of it you will be fine. Good math to take if you need a Q course
Not a bad professor but I wouldn't take her again if I didn't have to. There is a minor language barrier, she's Russian (I think) and has an accent that makes it hard to understand sometimes. Exams (3) and weekly quizzes are all open notes.
In class, she can come off detached and short, but she's an okay professor. If you've taken AP Stats you'll do well. Quizzes and exams are all online (including the final) but are worth a lot. Minitab assignments are an adjustment at first using the software, but you'll get used to it. I'd recommend attending the lectures to do well in the class.
She is good at explaining things in class but goes through material fast and expects you to practice on your own. There are old video lectures and extra material posted to help you study, if you practice outside of class you'll get a good grade. 3 exams including the final, weekly quizzes, and biweekly minitab assignments.
Accent is kind of thick, but she teaches very thoroughly and does a lot of example problems to the point where it gets annoying. Gives you step by step instructions how to do problems. Quiz every week and 3 exams. Final is cumulative
She was very clear with her teaching and taught in a way that made me understand stats, but her exams are worth so much and the A cut off is a 94. I ended with a 93.4 and she wouldn't round to a 93.5 so I was 0.1 off from an A and it's super frustrating as a 4.0 student. This is my first A - and in any other class, this would be an A.
class is graded on 2 exams and a final. if one of your exams is lower than the final, she'll replace it with your final grade. weekly quizzes and homework assignments. one homework assignment and quiz is dropped. no extra credit. the class is relatively easy, but a 94 is the cutoff for an A
Thickest accent ever. Really hard to understand, I never went to lecture because I wasn't learning anything and instead taught everything to myself just enough to get good grades on the tests. Everything was online, at home.
Besides the horrible Minitab assignments this class is quite easy. She is a good teacher though the class size can make it difficult to understand certain topics. Before the midterm and final she posts videos on how to solve the questions that will be on the exam.
Zhanna was ok. She was not accommodating to those who have deadline extensions because her assignments had an extension after the deadline to get -2 off. Speed runs through lectures, doesn't actually teach what she is doing. Her Minitabs are made to be confusing and a waste of time.
Hated this class. I gave up going because I did not understand a word she said. Just a terrible professor who repeated herself too many times throughout the class. Did not learn a thing. Not accommodating at all.
exams are lock-down browser open note, so don't require too much studying. lectures were excruciatingly boring. My TA wasn't very much help when I had minitab questions. No extra credit but the lowest exam score is replaced with with your final if you do better. must have a 94 or higher to get an A which is annoying.
Every lecture consisted of watching her do problems without any helpful explanation whatsoever. By the middle of the semester the lecture hall was nearly empty due to useless lectures and her extremely heavy accent that made it difficult to understand. The 9 minitab homework assignments were confusing and added nothing to learning the material.
Not a very nice person. Has office hours but if you go to them she isn't very helpful. Lectures are kind of a waste, but she uses some questions on exams. Kind of hard to understand during lecture because of a heavy accent. Grading based on three exams, 11 quizzes, and 11 weekly homework assignments. Makes the course annoying and tedious.
Zhanna is a thorough professor who uses a lot of examples to explain concepts. While her accent can be a bit challenging at times, her teaching style helps solidify the material. The weekly quizzes and Minitab assignments take some getting used to, but using resources like unstuck AI can really help with exam prep.
She was a decent professor but my only problem was that has had a super strong accent so I could barely understand anything she was saying for like the first month until i got used to it. Its a math class so you need a lot of practice to understand the material but its not too bad. Grading scale is a bit tough to get an A (i got a 92 and got an A-)
This class is so brutal. If you're someone who isn't naturally good at math don't take stats with her. She's super hard to follow if you're learning for the first time. She'll do like 6 practice problems at you for the whole lecture with no actual explanation on how to apply the math. Just reviewed my notes for 2 hours and got a 23/100 on a quiz.
She is difficult to understand and her examples in class do not help either understanding material. Be ready to teach yourself most of the content and fail the weekly lockdown tests and midterms.
Pop quizzes, kinda rude. Tests allow for notes. Class is easy, but you have to show up for lectures. She clearly cares and wants students to participate, but is perhaps too disillusioned in her field. again, rude
She really cares and wants students to do well. Show up to class and you'll do fine
Professor Pozdnyakova is extremely passionate about stats and she also loves to help her students. Her Russian accent makes lecture slightly difficult to understand, but if you need help with the material go to her office hours. There's weekly homework, quizzes randomly, two midterms, and one final. Just don't fall behind, it'll be hard to catch up
It's very difficult to get an A in the class because you have to have a 94 or higher. There are 15 pop quizzes, she only counts 10. There are weekly quizzes, 2 tests, and a final online lockdown webcam. I had an A the whole time and got an 85 on the final which brought me to an A-. I asked if she could round up she responded with the syllabus.
If you like things repeated 5 times until your ears start to bleed and having to interrupt what she's saying you'll love the class. But fair warning don't laugh, talk, or smile in her class at all because she'll try to embarrass you in front of the whole class saying you're failing the class even when you have and A. Good luck.
If you go to office hours she won't help you and will say that she went over the topics in class. There are weekly quizzes with a formula sheet but if you take less than 15 mins on them she'll accuse you of cheating. Most of them can be taken in less than 15 mins even if you do all the work out. Makes fun of people who don't understand the material
Weekly online and proctored quizzes. Midterm and final online and proctored. Weekly Minitab assignments for discussion. Posts videos of each lecture. She is pretty straight forward, but the class can be confusing.
She is very straightforward and spends lectures doing problems without explaining the actual content of all of it. Weekly quizzes and homework, 3 exams total and everything is on lockdown browser. There is a textbook but can also be slightly confusing for some. Lectures are not mandatory and there are 2020 online lectures on HuskyCT which can help.
She clearly cares about her students doing well in the class. She clearly outlines how to do well on test. There are weekly quizzes that you get 2 attempts at with a cheat sheet. She can be slightly confusing with her accent but it isn't impossible. You get a cheat sheet for all 3 exams (front and back) and none are cumulative.
She is very straightforward and spends lectures working through problems without explaining the actual content of the material. Weekly quizzes and homework, three exams total, and everything is on the lockdown browser. Lectures are not mandatory, and most of what she does in class is online on HuskyCT.
attendance not required. all lecture notes and videos are posted online. weekly quizzes (lockdown browser/2 attempts). 2 exams and a final taken outside of class on lockdown browser. lectures are just boring, and she spends the time showing problems with no explanation. i personally stopped going after two weeks and still got an A.
