Does not teach clearly.
Very friendly and easy in certain aspects (very easy to earn the extra 5 bonus points). However, tests are difficult in a tricky sense and instruction is poor. And I hate to say it, but it is VERY easy to cheat during exams because she's not stringent.

teacher is not very clear on many subjects...like ghosh who expects the studying & understanding to be done at home. the 5 bonus points are easy to get, but take up half the class time. half your investment is gone as alot of students utilize it...

One of the worst at Baruch. She doesn't really teach. Exams are crazy hard. I suggest you attend her class 25 minutes after regular class starts time cuz she's wasting class time by doing nonsense presentation.

i found her to be ok. i must say i read the text multiple times and did all the homework problems and got a b+. it was a damn hard b+.
you will earn a A grade if you have done all her work. In fact, she is not as bad as what others said about her. (unleast, I did earn a good grade from her class)
Her note is ok, but not very helpful for final. Must study the book and do the problem.
To laid back in class. The student's current events presentations waste at least 30min of each class. She does not spend much time on HW or problems. Hard to get a good grade. Nice person.
Excuse me!! She is the best ACC Prof. I got an A in that class. She explains so well. You guys should change your major if you don't think she is good.
Her note doesn't help much at all. The tests she made mostly from CPA review book: 25 MC and 1 or 2 problem in the Test, but the problem rate half of the grade. Therefore, I advise you all STUDY HARD if u unforturnaly in her class.
I don't think that the problem is with her. Financial II is very hard so let's not bash her. I mean I'm sure there are better professors out there but she isnt too bad. Plus she's very helpful and pretty. As fo presentations I agree, they are a waste.
I dropped her class...twice....and i got an overall 3.7 gpa and all A's in all accounting classes including upper levels. I took another professor on that class with the same format, and i got A.
her first and second exams are easy, the final is really hard, i was so nervous that I forgot formula for weight-average.she also gives 5 extre points plus 15 points do online quiz, which is good. you are advised to take good scores in her first two exams
she is so freaking lazy!all she moves around in the class is her finger and her eyeballs. A perfect example of how much accountants can be boring! my god.. one of my biggest mistake in Baruch was taking her class!!!
Exams are very tricky. Lecture is soo boring. She doesn't curve no matter how low the class average is.
She is nice and her tests are pretty hard, but so is the class in general. I like the way she looks though, and would definitely make nice nice with her if the oppurtunity arose.
She teaches ok, and the class is hard in general. The first two tests were fair. The final was hard. Overall she is a good professor.
If you cannot manage to study by yourself expecting help & clarification from professor, you won't fing it in her class. I got an A, spending much more time for that class than for any other. Study her Power Points and do a lot of exercises at the end of chapters, maybe you'll get through too.
Whatever you do, do not take her class...when you ask her questions she does not explain anything well...don't waste your time trying to get things clarified by her
She does not teach! You get the little bit you can from class and study on ur own for the exams. The first two tests arent bad but the final is MAD HARD. The mc questions are on a completely differnt level as the 1st 2 tests. if you study enough on ur own u should be ok. she wont explain anything
DO NOT TAKE HER!!! You are teaching yourself the whole course. powerpoint slides are not helpful, examples taught in class are not on the exams it's all a trick. she does not care if you learn , she does not want you to pass. never returns exams no review B4 exam. save yourself from the stress
DO NOT TAKE DENG'S CLASS!! She was no help, forget abouty speaking to her during her office hours, because she really doesn't care. Refuses to give reviews before exams, I think she enjoys failing her students.
first 2 midterms are fair..however ur basically teaching yourself the course. she doesn't provide any helpful reviews and when you go to her during office hours, she seems very disinterested in helping you. told my friend that he wont have time to finish the final. whatkind of encouragemnt is that?
Although this professor covered all the relevant chapters required for this course,her teaching skills are flawed and needs improvement.More can be derived from reading the texts instead of attending one of her classes.Most questions on her exams are not remotely close to anything that can be found
Her first midterm was very very hard, a lot of people failed the first midterm, and her second midterm was fairly easier... it is easy to understand and follow the materials in class, but still neeed to do all the exercises in the book in order to get high score on exam.She doesnt give practice exam
She is not that bad! She teaches, but you still have to work a lot on your own. Do all the homework assignments a couple of times and read the text. I did that and I got an A for the course. Good luck!
She does not teach well and explain well. Further, what she put on the exam is very difficult than what she had taught us, especially the mutiple choice. Every time when she tried to explain the howework Qs from the book, she kept looking at the solution manual. It's not worth it to take her clas.
She doesn't give sample exams. She doesn't returns tests nor explain anything from the tests. On top of that, she doesn't know how to teach. Do youself a favor, don't take her!

it's a hard course & having a prof who doesn't care whether you pass or fail doesnt help either. all she does is read off ppt slides & answer sheet. you'll be teaching yourself pretty much. doesn't return exams & there are no reviews. she gave a final with 25 MC questions & 2 long problems. after 2 hrs, the entire class was still there. enough said
Not a nice person, and an even worse professor. Does not tell you what to expect on exams, and gives stuff she never even went over in class.
She is a good teacher. Very fair and polite. If you are interested in learning accounting take her. Don't listen to others who say she's bad, they are not serious about learning and probably got bad grades. If you're smart she is easy. if not she is hard
It is really hard to give her judgment, her lecture is ok, but her exams is treaky, she would test you sth that she didn't really go over in class, but not test you anything that she keep repeating in class. you could never guess what she will give to you for the exams, and you have to read the text book very detail to get good grade on her exams.

she seems very insecure, her lecture doesn't help you much to learn ACC. exam is damn hard. she doesn't care about students at all. just don't take her class if you don't want your semester ruined.
This professor is horrible. She is not helpful at all. Goes over the lectures very fast, doesn't give any review. Do not take her.
This professor is very lenient. If you are lagging with your grades there a lots of opportunities for you to make up your grade. I find the exams quite easy, though a little tricky. If you've done the 10 hw questions and required hw...you'll be ok.

Nice professor, Doesn't require attendence. However, her lectures are really boring because she is just reading slides to you. Examples from the book are very easy compared to her multiple choice questions on the exam. The exams feel like CPA questions compared to our homework. Very boring and uninteresting. Bad professor, but smart in acc.

The worst prof i ever had in baruch. she does not know how to teach, just read through powerpoint slides. All you need is the text book then you can study on your own. Not recomend avoid her as your can!!!
Most of the comments are from losers. If you are serious about accounting, and would like to pursue a CPA and work on Wall Street, she's your professor. And you are not likely find more like her. I got two A's. She is smart, serious, wants very much that you think, and she gives you a lot of career leads ...

Strict but fair. Not a easy subject to begin with. There is a group project in the class, but that was very easy. Exams were difficult, esp. the MCQs. The Part II is always long problems. She was very generous at grading those. Not bad, I liked her even though B+ is lower than I would've liked
You would only need to go to the lecture to see which parts of the chapter she will skip for the exam.Will do a 10 minute explanation and the rest of the class do problems so if you have not read the chapter before class- you'll fall asleep. Very inconsistent in terms of exams, may give you 1 MCquestion on one chapter but give you 10 on another,bad
I'm accounting major and was looking froward to exploring new accounting modules and stuff. But she almost made me hate accounting, though I've had straight A's in my major before. Take my advise, find the way to motivate yourself, read the book before the class and be ready for the most boring lectures in your life.
The professor is pretty good, she tries her best in explaining the material but it is up to you if you want to learn it. she grades fair and gives you the grade that you deserve

I think she was not that bad. She explained everything clear and the exams were fair. Just do the exercises in the book and focus on the excercises she goes over in the class.
Okay...this is not at all an easy course. The prof reads from the slides which are not at all helpfull on exams. Its best to just do the problems and read the book because honestly you will obtain nothing from her classes...she might just confuse you even more =/
She is a horrible professor. She reads the slides, which we can do on our own. If you get stuck taking her, you don't need to attend class because it is useless.
Like other said, she just reads off the slides. She seems to be confused when teaching the material and she gets the students confused as well. She's not really much help, you'll just have to study the textbook, which isn't a cake-walk. After taking her class, I dont't know if I'll continue accounting.
It's true she does read off slides, but the positive of that is that there are no tricks on the test. The final is not really cumulative no matter what she says. The group project was easy, I did it myself and got a good grade. There was 1 midterm, about 5 quizzes, which were all simple. Just read the textbook, practice and ur good to go.
This teacher has trouble communicating because she does not have a good command of English. She reads from slides instead of lectures, again incomprehensible. She is not approchable, considerate or understanding and seems to be on some kind of power trip. I would suggest staying away from her.
Worst professor ever. she grades the 2 long questions which make up 50%of the grade in a system only she can understand. Extremely hard to reach outside of class. I don't recommend; but if u're stuck, good luck.
She is not a bad professor as the students mentioned above. those comments are misleading. Her exams were not as hard as the exams from other acc 3100 classes and her grading policy was fair. I was not very interested in accounting prior taking her class, but her class filled me up with accounting knowledge.I got an easy A from her class.
If you want to pass, study the book. The slides she reads off of are barely helpful, mostly because there's more CONCEPTUAL questions than calculations. One midterm, 1 final. 2 Long questions =50% and about 20 questions on midterm. Hw and quizzes as well.Project is group, a boring one. There are better professors, take only if no choice... sadly...
What a bad professor. The final was extremely hard. Even if you studied textbook, it would not have helped. She plays w the grades through the open ended questions on the exam. So its a hit or miss depending on the students. I understood everything she taught but the final was just unfair. BAD PROF!
If you want to learn Accounting she the last one you can think of..avoid it..you have to study by your self because she teach from powerpoint...the quizes online and you don't have enough time to finish..I had to drop because i can't learn nthing from her ...so save your grade and you time !
I really hope she read this, mid term and finals are CPA questions. How can we know the answer while we are still trying to absorb the basic. She really doesnt care. mid-term returned after drop deadline passed so students stuck. I was 4.0 and got C. She worked for famous prof. in NYU who knows how to teach. she can only learn how to read d slides
hate her, hw,quiz, midterm final and project. the project she doesnt even say what she wants. She is never available good luck tryin to find her. Her class is not too hard but she is an unfair grader. is like she is happy when she gives low grades. all i can say is good luck and participate even if u dont know what ur doing bc it makes a difference
Not as bad as everyone says. Exams were not hard. They have 2 written problems. 1 worth 17 points and the other worth 9. It's extremely easy to get within B range on exams. Quizzes are annoying. Easy to do bad on quiz. Hw are OK and group project is annoying also.
The way other students described her is quite discouraging but I still took her class!! She teaches well and yes she goes through the slides but explains thoroughly and focuses on main points more. She has improved a lot in teaching if compared to comments below. Overall, great accounting professor. I am glad I took her class.
If you are the accounting major, if you are serious about your major, if you really want to learn accounting, take her. Yes, she is not an easy professor, but she teaches from her experience. Thus, she can tell you what is useful in the real world and what you will never use for the whole life.
She does go through slides but she focuses on important points. She does not demand attendance but being in clas is very important because she explains concepts very clearly and shows the way to work on problems in an easily-understood way.
she isnt as bad as she use to be.she gives 4 quizzes, homework midterm and final. quizzes arent that hard but easy to do bad one them, final and midterm there are two problem that are worth 50%& 50% multiple choice the problems are way easier than the multiple choice.she gives extra credit towards final grade. and she curves got a b+.
I think professor Deng is the best teacher in Baruch Accounting department , she does everything in easier way, like her a lot . I hope I can take her other classes. If you choose her class, I think you are luck one. In Baruch accounting department,most of them ??? , but she is very professional and you will learn so much from her. Thank you .

This class is all about practice. The more problems you do on your own and pay attention in class, the better grade you will get. 4 quizzes, 1 midterm, 1 final, group project and HW. Extra credits for solving problems on the board, so make sure u do those. Quizzes are easy, except for the 3rd one. Midterm - doable. Final -KILLER.
This professor does not help student to understand the basic concept of the course. She gives extra credit to those who solve problems in the class. These students basically copy the end of chapter solutions. She repeats same questions and this gives better chance to those 2nd taker and those who have friend in her prior class.
DO NOT REGISTER FOR HER CLASS. She is not helpful and stacks to much material into the exams. She is not a good teacher, take a Sat or Sun class than register to be in her class.
She's not SO horrible she explains she does problems you just have to practice it's accounting. You have 4 quizes (20%) 1 midterm (25%) a final (35%) Group project (10% btw you're not getting the 10pts there) and hw (10%) she's the best teacher in terms of giving you the chance to pass the quizzes are grade boosters that being said she's tough.
This class has 4 quiz, but they are from HW, if you do all the basic exercise, problems and exercise after chapters, you gonna be fine, each has 5% of whole grade. class Presentation is helpful, she will give exercises in class, be sure you very prepared before class. Midterm and final have 30 MCs, 2 long answers. Extra credit for in class practice
If you're looking for a reason to change your accounting major to something else, take her ! I have nothing more to say .
By far, the best Accounting Professor at Baruch. Take her and you will not regret that you did. Do the home works and try as much as you can to participate in class and i bet ya, "A" will not be difficult to get. The same can not be true in other higher accounting classes.
I thought I would be able to handle the workload, but despite putting countless hours into studying the material, I ended with an unsatisfactory grade. I did well on the midterm, but the final killed me even though I studied a lot for the exam. Prof. Deng is a tough professor, and this is the first time I've received a C grade.
OMG. Just took the midterm and it was horrible. She came in late so the exam started late, but we didn't get any extra time! 1h20min,50 multiple choices, but over 50% needed calculation like you had to prepare a bond/lease amortization schedule to answer those questions. I hated when she said happy halloween while everyone was rushing to finish!
just got the grade from midterm and dropping. her midterm was 50 Q. Like 80% was calculations. There is not enough time to do all these calculations. try to avoid her!!! even after doing practice problems & reading the slides, the time she gives for the test and connect quizzes are not enough even if you know the material.
SHE JUST READ THE SLIDES THERE IS A DIFFICULT GROUO PROJECT THAT SHE DOESNT EXPLAIN HOW TO DO AND YOU HAVE TO BREAK YOUR HEAD TO WORK ON IT. SHE USE TEST BANK ALL THE QUESTIONS FROM THE MID AND FINAL ARE FROM A TEST BANK. I DID GOOD ON THE FINAL BECAUSE I STUDIED FROM TB BUT BAD ON THE MID BECAUSE I DID NOT ABOUT TEST BANK. SHE GAVE EXTRA POINTS.
