he is from china, it made him terribly hard to understand. the homework load was not too bad, but the tests were awful, on a few occassions he said that one type of problem would not be on the test... and sure enough it apeared there on test day
The whole class has a problem understanding what he says, and the tests are hard because he doesn't really explain things clearly.
Very nice man, not a good teacher. His communication skills are not so good, which makes the class terribly boring. If you are good at math and can pass without attending class, then take him, because he doesn't have an attendance pollicy.
I bombed all the test. The highest grade I recieved was a 65. But if you do all the homework, it is greatly rewarding. Also, he gives you the opportunity to use a sheet for the Final to write down equations you have trouble with. (Use that wisely). If you do the homework and prepare for the Final carefully, you'll get B like myself.
wow. he's impossible to understand, but his class is easy. but really, his english is rough. you have to really pay attention to lecture to understand what's going on. it's kind of worth it though, because he cracks jokes (that aren't funny) and then has this giggle that is exactly the laugh a gnome would make. it's pretty entertaining.
He was funny but hard to understand...i still liked him!
Really Hard to understand. His english is rough, but even when you tune in and listen what he says does not help you to understand the concepts. Test's were really hard because you never knew what would be on them. I would recommend someone else for this course if you want above a "C".
He is a very nice man who cares and tries to encourage you into doing well. He helps by giving you possible points and goes over the quiz which is basically like the test. I liked him!
To me this is One of the best MATH 121 teachers Liberty has to offer. He is very hard to understand, but for me he wasn't because I had a teacher similar to before I came to Liberty. I did none of the homework but did well on the test and quizes and got an A in the class. What I recommend a person to do is all the homework and you will do fine.
He tells you at the beginning of the semester that if you come to class, take notes, and do the hw you should at least get a B. I found this to be true.
Wow... Cant speak english hardly at all. Because of this fact i fell asleep virtually every class period only to wake up 15-20 mins later and notive he is still on the same slide!! i did 2 0f 10 HW assignments and did decent on the tests/quizes and ended up with a B... oh yeah and he puts ABSOLUTELY NO GRADES ONLINE. EVER.
i just dont understand...
Dr. Wang is no doubt a brilliant at math, however he cannot speak English. If you value your grade, your money, or your time you will not take his class. If you are reading this after already signing up for his class, I recommend you drop it immediately. Unless of course you like learning knew math concepts in a no-subtitle kung-fu hustle voice.
Lets be optimistic for a minute.David Wang is a very smart teacher.Altough it is hard to understand him at times, he moves at a slower pace. All his quizzes are basically the test, with few or more problems. If you do your homework and pay attention then you will pass the class with a "B" or higher. He is passionate about GOD & his students!
Hard to understand but sometimes funny. I wouldn't take him if your not willing to do some work yourself. Hw is reasonable and if you don't get your question answered in class he welcomes staying after and helping or email.
Dr. Wang is an amazing person, but not a good teacher. He is extrememely difficult to understand. The tests are 8 questions and worth 20% of your grade each, so it is extremely difficult to do well in this class. I did all of the work, as well as going to tutoring, and still had a very difficult time.
Dr. Wang a great person that is passionate about math, God, and his students. He was difficult to understand at times, but he is always available to help. He makes sure that tutors are always available and he goes out of his way to let you make up tests, etc.
Difficult to understand.
If you have a hard time with math, I would highly suggest shying away from his class. It is VERY hard to understand what he is teaching and you pretty much have to teach yourself the information. Basically, if you can't teach yourself math, take another teacher. On the up side, his tests are the same as the Quizes which makes them pretty easy.
OMG, This teacher is terrible. Take his class if you're good at Math, you can use the class time to work on other stuff. All the homework is online. He's hard to understand and is just kind of "off". Avoid.
He was absolutely hilarious! Though it was hard to understand him at first (because of his Chinese accent) I got used to it and did really well in the class. Coming to class is really helpful as he does examples which are on the tests. I had an A and he didn't count my grade on the final exam- he drops your lowest test grade. Great guy regardless!
Yo this guy sucks! The worst teacher at liberty university! He does not keep you updated with your grades so you never know how you are doing overall. He has the worst jokes on earth. Wang jokes are so lame but will laugh! Does not teach. On test day, he taught a lesson before giving the test and everyone ended up staying 30 min after class was ove
he just does too many examples and talks too fast for you to get it all in doesnt really explain it well just likes to keep doing more and more examples
He is a hard professor to keep up with and really doesn't go over homework that much. counts on webassign for practice.
He is a hard professor to keep up with and really doesn't go over homework that much. counts on webassign for practice.
Nice guy. Difficult to understand, with his Chinese accent. It was a tough subject, and I ended up having to teach myself the material, since I coudn't follow his teaching. His grading is more than fair, though. He drops your lowest quiz and lowest couple homeworks.
Ni Hao Ma?
Wang was a difficult teacher. He was extremely hard to understand and sometimes would mumble, making it even more impossible to hear. His grading is ok though and if you do the hw you should do fairly well. I recommend that you are decent at math before entering this class because you wont succeed otherwise.
It is very difficult to understand what he says because of his accent. He doesn't really explain things well either. You end up having to teach yourself. If you're not good at math don't take him. I had to drop his class.
Well today was the first day of class. I didn't know what to expect, but wasn't surprised that he had a very strong Chinese accent and talked very softly. I will try and sit up front next class if I get there early enough. Too bad all the rest of the MATH 201 classes are too early or are already full.
AVOID! He can barely speak English! I learned nothing during class and my classmates and I had to set up study groups in order to teach ourselves. Finally I just had to withdraw because it took way too much time to try to teach myself. Seriously DON'T take him unless you like teaching yourself and wasting 5 hours a week in class!
Dr. Wang loves what he does, this much is obvious. Although he is difficult to understand most of the time, as long as you are paying attention and following along with him while he gives examples, you should be okay. Be prepared, though, to be able to teach yourself or to seek out a tutor if you do not understand his teaching style.
HE CANNOT SPEAK ENGLISH!! I thought about withdrawing the first day but all the other classes were full of those who were smart enough to act first. You have to teach your self the material. If you can aviod him do it now before its too late!!!
Can't get anymore encouraging! He's without a doubt there by your side, wanting to see his students excel! A man of both compassion and grace!
He gave us a pop-TEST today. But i guess that isn't any different from a quiz because they're both weighted the same... but still. Also, I wish I could understand his lectures because I have to do a lot of self-teaching.
This is by far the worst teacher I have ever come across. I'm sure outside of the classroom he is a good guy however inside the classroom he is unacceptable. He can't form a coherent sentence and his English is that of a 1st grader. being taught by him is like trying to get the square peg into an imaginary hole while being beaten with a frying pan
Whatever you do, do not take him. He is the worst professor ever. He teaches, but you cant understand a word he's saying. He doesn't announce when there are tests. You have to self teach yourself. Totally unhelpful.
He is a good person and he honestly tries to teach the subject but his understanding of the material is so great that he has a hard time explaining it to us. Just write down variables and formulas and you can pass the class though.
Statistics class is tough. Yes, his English is really tough on you and you can't understand him that well, but he's a good guy and a fair professor. Just study the material and get a math tutor and you'll do fine. His jokes are so bad that they're hilarious
Fluent in Engrish.
gosh, good luck if you get stuck with this guy.
Dr. Wang struggles to teach the students, and the fact that he is still teaching despite the constant attacks he suffers proves that. He isn't hard to understand if you actually listen. If you take his class you actually have to focus on what he's saying rather than play on your computer.
Doctor Wang is a very nice man, but he is a incomprehensible professor. his class is an impossible learning environment
I couldn't understand a word he said, but its math so its fairly simple to teach yourself. Just bomb the quizzes and ace the tests, his tests usually cover everything from the quiz.
I'm good at calculus and I like it well enough, I'm even tutoring people in it. But Wang grades very inconsistently and will take off points for strange things, and all of his tests are worth 200 points. The class isn't that hard, but be prepared to teach yourself. Plus the textbook isn't great.
He is amazing as a professor. I took this course online and it is difficult but he has no control over the class material. He is very helpful and answers emails asap.
I was doing Math 131 at the same time as this, so I didn't know how to do half of what this class covered. However, I really liked how Wang helped us all. He knows the book and program inside and out, and he jumps at the chance to help anyone. If you're taking this class, I recommend HIGHLY taking Wang over anyone else.
Despite what others have said Dr. Wang is probably the easiest math professors I've ever had. His quizzes are basically exactly like his tests, and he grades very leniently. Sometimes he is hard to understand because of his accent, and sometimes he rambles on non math related things in class, but as long as you read the book the class is easy.
One of the easiest math professors at Liberty. He is a great guy and loves what he does. If you don't do well in his class, you literally understand nothing about math at all. Though he can be difficult to understand at times, he is very kind and will answer any question you ask him. If you get confused by his accent, follow along in your book.
He's hard to understand, but you have to learn the subject by reading. Test are very easy and predictable.
Assigns a decent amount of homework from the textbook. Very bad at giving lectures and difficult to understand. Better off watching online lectures and lessons than attending class. Tough grader on tests but the tests almost identically match the quizzes.
Had Wang for Calc II, Calc III (twice) and DiffyQ. Expect a random proof from the book on every test. Lectures are borderline pointless since you don't know what he's saying and he just does problems so teach yourself from the hw. He's an inconsistent grader and won't answer questions. Tests/quizzes are 90% of your grade so do the hw for 100 points
Professor Wang was a tough teacher but if you do the homework and have good attendance he is generous in grading. The downside is he's difficult to understand and writes really fast.
I had Professor Wang for MATH 133 in the Fall of 2016. Dr. Wang is a great guy. If you have a question, Dr. Wang will not hesitate to answer it. However, as others have pointed out, he is very difficult to understand. He is very friendly and willing to help though.
The three tags I have given are out of pure sarcasm. He is neither inspirational, caring, or gives good feedback. Nothing inspirational other than his short fuse to anger and he calls himself a Christian. LOL. Don't show up to class? No problem because it's not his grade. Ask a question and get at least a hour of bs about a complete different topic
DO NOT take this guy if you have life outside of school, chances are you will fail or be a zombie for the duration of class. No credit for the hours and hours of busy work. Way too heavy on test grades. Never failed a class in all my life before this professor. Very confusing system of conducting class also. He did ask if everything was okay once.
You can't understand a word he says
He's great.
Cool guy.
Wang does an excellent job of explaining what is expected of you in the class, then helping whenever you have a question without just giving you the answer. I never had any trouble understanding him.
Doesn't speak english and good luck reading his handwriting.
To begin, Chinese should be a pre-req for this course. His english is gibberish. It is a shame this he is allowed to be a professor as you cannot understand or read what he is writing. Only plus is fast grading but other than that do not take him. I stopped going to class besides for test and quizzes. One of the worst teachers I've ever had.
He is really hard to understand. I tried to ask questions for clarification and I am told the material is "very easy, very easy, no need for questions." The lecture is pointless since you cant understand what he is saying, but it is mandatory. He does a quiz almost everyday sometimes on material we had learned that very same day! DO NOT TAKE HIM!
Professor Wang may be difficult to understand but he teaches the material well. The tests were extremely predictable and it is easy to do well in his course if you put in a respectable ammount of work.
Dr. Wang is very sharp, but difficult to understand due to the accent, and tends to go extremely fast in lectures. He does not slow down for anyone, it is up to you to ensure you are getting something from the lecture. Pop quiz will happen almost every single class so expect it. Work hard and he will grade generously despite difficulty on tests
Difficult to understand due to accent and goes too fast to keep up in lecture often. Pop quiz almost every day so expect it. Work hard, do the homework, and read your textbook. Attendance is not necessary and you may find better results studying from the textbook alone. Always show all your work, he is big on partial credit on tests
This dude clearly wants to teach, wants you to learn, and is willing to make the effort to help you no matter what. He's definitely hampered by his English skills and perhaps some cultural differences from China, and I think that's why some people think he doesn't care about them or their grade. Not an easy professor but a good man.
I had professor Wang for my online Calculus class, in which he barely has to do anything for it, but by golly if you bother him with a SINGLE QUESTION, he calls you dumb and belittles you and gives absolutely no help at all. He tells you to look in the book and you should know this. He is the rudest most condescending unchristian-like professor.
I took an Statistics class but he wasn't very helpful each time I had a question about the homework. Twice I reached out and he gave me the same answer, "trial and error" so don't expect to get a clear clarification when you're confused out of your mind.
BUSI 230, "Intro" to Statistics, is EXTREMELY homework heavy. They "only assign" 160 questions for the entire semester, but every question is guaranteed to have 3 to 9 parts each. So get ready to do 1,043 homework problems (yes I counted), not including exams or projects. I just want my life back, please. Prof only answers "read the book".
Great guy. Hard to understand in class. For Diff Eq, better to learn on your own. For Calc 3, need to go to class but also better to learn on your own. Really one of the easier math profs in terms of test material but still need to study.
Dr. Wang is awesome. He authentically loves the Lord and always takes such joy in teaching. 11/10 would recommend!
I thoroughly enjoyed math class with Dr. Wang. He can be a bit hard to follow at times in his high-pitched voice, but he is very passionate about his subject. His random segways into the evils of Communist China always make my day. Also, you will not find a faster grader here at liberty. The content is pretty heavy, but he is a very fair grader.
Dr. Wang is a sweet, wonderful man. His class is viewed as incredibly difficult by many, but in all honestly, he does a wonderful job. He makes clear the material that will be on exams, and uses the textbook heavily. If you have difficulty paying attention in lectures, you may be able to teach yourself most of the material with just the textbook.
Boy do not listen to these negative reviews. His English is so understandable, if not funny. He is so endearing and makes class a good time. He grades easy and efficiently, just make sure to do homework. Pull up to lecture he's blast, if you don't go to class you're fake.
Professor Wang is a great professor and he tries his best to look out for his students. He may be difficult to pay attention to at times and he loves to put proofs on the test, but if you put in the proper time to study and do the homework you will do well. He also grades incredibly quickly. You will get test grades back the same day you take them.
Dr. Wang runs his class very well and fair. There is no required homework and all points come from quizzes and tests. He sets you up very nicely to do well and pass. Your grade will directly correlate to the time you spend studying on your own. His accent is quite easy to understand after a week or two. He sometimes gives free 100s on quizzes too!
Dr. Wang is a really fast teacher, covering a unit in as little as one class period. He'll primarily teach via examples, and he won't actually stop for questions. If you wanna keep up, you're gonna have to read the textbook and teach yourself the content before class. That said, he failed my whole class, and had to give remediation credit.
Dr. Wang is a fast teacher. He teaches primarily through examples, but he does them at his own pace, and won't actually actually stop for questions. If you wanna pass, you're gonna need to read your textbook and teach yourself the content before class. That said, I did that, and he still failed my entire class, resorting to remediation credit.
Dr. Wang is incredibly endearing, joyful, and easy to learn from. He clearly loves what he does. He mostly relies on slideshows with example problems that he does for the class. Some may find his accent difficult to understand, but I did not struggle with this. He finds a way to combine great wisdom and stories with effective teaching. I love him.
prayed for trump before class and talked more about liberals being mentally ill than he did teaching calc
His teaching in-class isn't always ideal (from ppt, fast, a little boring), but he is still a good guy. He often puts semi-basic questions on the quizzes and tests (quizzes are only 14 pts) and will typically grade quickly.
Ended up taking 350 with Dr. Wang after feeling hopeless trying to take it online.I ended up coming away from this course with genuine optimism after sitting in on his lectures.Dr. Wang possesses a natural talent withMath while also being blessed with the ability to communicate these things in a clear manner while also showing his love for students
As others have said he goes at his own pace, cannot answers questions very well due to his English listening skills and the responses are either dismissive, rude or unhelpful 99.999999%, even in office hours. If you are taking multiple math courses drop them. This one will be a challenge.
Tough grader, but is clear with expectations. Make sure to understand the "why" behind all of his in class examples.
He missed a numeric typo in a test and as a result the entire class failed the question. He did not reward the points and told the class that they were dumb for not seeing it. I assumed I would be tested on my knowledge of calculus 3 not my ability to interpret his idiocy. Also when approached respectfully, he held his ruling.
I had Dr. Wang online for MATH126, his written portions of his exams were extremely difficult to get done in the 1 hour time limit. He also took forever to grade exams, and when asked if he would replace our final grade with our lowest exam grade, I was meant with a rude and condescending email.
Dr. Wang is an underrated math teacher. If you don't put in the work you will not do well in his class. He can be difficult to understand when first introducing a topic but a bit of extra work on the side to comprehend the subject will show that he isn't bad. The best strategy is survive the quiz and study the quizzes for the tests. Work to succeed
