Mr. Nisani is a great biology teacher, very thorough and funny. He makes biology worth while and interesting. Anybody that decides to take biology should take his class.

Definitely fun, he really wants you to get a good grade and gives opportunities, just do the lab prelims before class. Very witty, he likes to be cool with students. He'll work with you if you put in the effort.

First impression was rough, but he turned out to be extremely willing to help. His slides are complete in the lecture and the lab was thorough if you weren't lazy like me and left early all the time...

He was my first teacher in college and he was great. Cool guy who assigns a mild amount of homework. Easy tests and quizes aslong as you do some studying the day before. I got an A in the class and had a good time.

This guy loves biology and will explain it to you enthusiastically. Multiple choice tests with a few essay elements for lecture and multiple choice for lab tests. Aside from pre-lab homework, there is none. Study the book(yes you need it)and write down all his powerpoints for notes. No accent, easygoing, funny. Dont ever let your cell phone ring!!!

All and all a real cool teacher. His humor is kind of off but sometimes can actually be very funny, class isn't hard you just have to finish all the work he gives by the time class is over or he'll make you do the whole lab over on another day. i was dreading Bio but he was a great teacher made it interesting and fun. very helpfull if you study the info each week you will be fine on the lab practicals. He is funny and gets along well with the class, just remeber to turn cells off or pop quiz. He tries to be intimidating at first but is really laid back. highly recomended.

I took make-up lab once and it was Riley. She was cool and easy compare to him. I never thought his lab was easy but I learned A LOT from him. If you want to understand and get a good grade, you should take his class. It's easy to understand what he is teaching, and he is funny. He is pretty kind, too.

I had Mr. Nisani for lab bio101. I wished I had took him for lecture too! He was a TREMENDOUS help because I had Dr. Rainbow for lecture and since Dr. Rainbow was all over the place, I didn't feel like I learned much. But Mr. Nasani filled in all the gaps!! I HIGHLY recommend this teacher!

Very helpful teacher. I almost dropped his class, when many things were going on in my life, but he encouraged me. He encourages his students to use his office hours. I will take his class again if I have to. I would throw my daughter out of my house if she doesn't take his class.

He hates cellphones with a passion, so word of advice, put them on vibrate before the class or you will all get a quiz, and never pull them out in there. There is no homework but you should do the reading and study the notes, do this and you will pass his 4 test and his final with good grades.

He's intimidating at first, but all the tests are straightforward. He makes them seem harder than they really are. he'll give you a lot of information so study study and study more, but it's definitely worth it. He's hilarious, and definitely helpful. The best biology teacher I've ever had.

I took Nisani in 2011 and have since transferred to UCLA. Honestly the things I learned in his class help clarify material at a University level. He makes learning evolutionary bio and behavioral ecology interesting through his funny stories and command of the material. Don't be intimidated, he's really there to help you! By far the best Bio professor at avc.. He gets his students involved during lectures and provides hilarious skits to keep everyone entertained. For me, this class was extremely hard. Probably the hardest class I've ever had because I've always been best at math. But he is the BEST science teacher I've ever had. Needed to take this class as a Gen Ed requirement and to be honest I was dreading it. Dr. Nisani is hands down the best science teacher I've ever had! He made a subject that I knew nothing about interesting, he was very through and fair. Buy an old edition of the book (you just use it for reference not hw), take notes and go to his study sessions.

Those of you who are taking him next semester, I just want to say this class may change your life and the way you view your academic career for the best. Perhaps one of the best Biology professors at AVC along with Stephen Langjar (Anatomy) and Dr. George Shahla (Microbiology), Dr. Zia Nisani offers his students a detailed and interactive of studying Biology through the research experiment students do every semester. Be prepared to study and dedicate your entire semester for this class.

Best teacher I have had. The teacher makes the class fun and interesting, if you use the study guides to study you should pass the tests. He doesnt want any of his students to fail and encourages visiting his office hours. Just don't be late to class and don't get caught not paying attention.

Yes you might have heard nisani is the easiest bio teacher at avc but if you know nothing about biology, it's guna be tough. He's a great teacher but you really have to study for the tests. Book isn't required, but doesn't allow any type of electronics. If you're late, don't bother going in unless you're prepared to be put on blast.

Hes a wonderful Teacher I had him for general Biology he was very clear and would always help!!! hes tough but hes the only teacher i have ever taken where I actually "got it"

Dr Nisani is a HUGE inspiration and an amazing person. He's sarcastic and a hard ass but he is very caring ad there for serious students. His class was very tough but doable if you do ALL your work and study for tests. If you are a bio major, TAKE HIM. You will definitely not regret it. You learn a huge amount of info. I owe my semester to him!

Dr Nisani is one of my favorite teachers at AVC, and he is HOT! His tests are hard, you will have to study and know your stuff inside and out!!! Grades are definitely earned in this class, but you can tell he is dedicated and loves teaching! He is amazing!

Best teacher I've had a AVC. Learned a lot from the class as well. Show up on time and be prepared. Reading the chapter before showing up to lecture will help a lot and it'll be easier to participate. There's one research project but it's not as bad as you may think, show him your work by the deadlines and you'll be fine.

I have never laughed as much as in this class; he's absolutely hilarious. He is very clear on what he expects from you. Study guides are a big help for the tests. Pick a partner for your research project or you will feel overwhelmed if you do it alone. Do Not do the homework last minute, allow yourself lots of time especially with the case studies.

Dr. Nisani is a very hardcore, rigorous instructor. He expects nothing less than 100% on every assignment and test. Assignments and point system make it VERY hard to get a C and pretty challenging to get an A. Labs are interesting but not very structured. Dr. Nisani has a strong sense of humor, which makes you hate and love life at the same time!

Dr. Nisani is a great teacher and he is hilarious!!! He encourages the students to work for their grade. Be on top of the weekly assignments. Those points will help you out later with the test grades. Overall, I really enjoyed his class.

This man is the Ramsay Gordon of biology, he is a amazing at teaching, but if your not giving it your 100%, you wont make it. Be prepared to commit to heavy sacrifice, the class is incredibly rigorous, and only the truly dedicated will make it.

Dr. Nisani is still one of the best professor that I have had. His class was very interesting, and you will learn if you put the effort in this class. Do not expect an easy A. His test are difficult, but not impossible, so DO study for his class. Participation matters, and studying everyday or almost will benefit you.

This class is for real biology majors to succeed in their field. This professor challenges you. If you want a professor to hold your hand, find another major! But if you really are passionate about biology, you deserve this professor. His lectures are never boring, and gives ivy league level work. Nothing but respect for him and all he does.

He's a great teacher! He makes biology really fun to get into. Make sure not to miss class or you will fall behind! He is very thorough and will do his best to help you out if you go see him during office hours.

He is good teaching, and funny. He makes you understand the work. You have to read before you show up to class. Do a lot studying, examines are good but need to study Also don't get on his bad side. I recommend taking him.

Dr. Nisani is an amazing professor. I took his Environmental Biology class and it was so interesting. There is a fair amount of homework & a lot of notes but there are only two exams (midterm + final). No study guides for the exams but, he does a review - make sure you take notes. No cell phones! He will give a pop quiz if someone's phone goes off!

Taking this class I was nerves, but through the semester Nisani is a great instructor. I really loved the case studies. Im glad I took his class....

Nisani is hilarious and is well-educated in his field. He doesn't make you feel left behind and is always there for his students. Class may seem difficult at times but its because he wants to prepare you for your future. I'd recommend taking him for any and every class you need. Also, take advantage of his office hours because it'll save your life.

Nisani is one of the best professors I ever had. He is unique, inspirational, really passionate about what he teaches, and exceedingly helpful to his students. I can't say enough about how much I respect him and what he does! I honestly wish every professor would be like him. I recommend him to everyone that really wants to learn biology.

Seriously, this guy is one of the best professors out there. He's dedicated, smart, funny, and really knows what he's doing. Of course, you have to work hard to get a good grade. But even then, as long as you do your very best, get to class on time, and do things when he tells you to, then you'll be fine!

He's a great professor and really challenges you. At the beginning of the semester he gives you a research project that will last the whole term and its a very time consuming process, but he is always very willing to help you along the way. Tests are pretty difficult to ace, but he has a 5% ec assignment, though it takes a lot of time to do it too.

Professor Nisani's class was tough, but it an A wasnt impossible. I havent taken a bio class ever (unless you counted my hs class, but i spent the yr watching netflix so i personally don't), & I still managed. The study guide accurately reflect what will be on the exam, & if you do the EC, you get 5% added to ur overall grade. also hes a great dude

Lots of work to do but its doable. Dont be lazy and get behind because you wont pass. Stay ahead, do the work and understand it and youll be fine.

Professor Nisani is cool and funny. He requires you to do the pre-labs and to turn them in before class starts. His quizzes are 8 questions and are fairly easy it usually about stuff were about to do in lab or the week before in lab.

Dr Nisani rules his class with an Iron First. Arrogant, & if your late, you'll get scolded. But under all that hot steam, He has compassion and takes pride in his students. He cares about your success. Communication is key. 1 on 1 office ours saved me. Take advantage if your drowning. I went through alot personally, & he worked with me. Good Luck

Dr. Nisani hands down is one of the best Bio professors here at AVC. He cares a lot about the success of his students, which is most likely why he's so harsh . He expects you to do the very best but he gives you all the materials you will need for his class! Just be ready to read A LOT. Also, DO NOT SLACK. Stay on top of the game by doing the work.

Dr. Nisani is an amazing professor! I took him over intersession and it was an incredible experience. He really opened my eyes to all of the environmental issues we are facing and made me want to take action. He always responded to emails very quickly and was very helpful. We were always very prepared for every exam. You won't regret taking him!

Minimal textbook usage, lots of group activities, minimal note taking, very hands on class. Professor is entertaining to listen to, although can be rude to students at times. Class is not hard at all, only chance to fail is to not show up. Very accessible, welcomes participation and is very extroverted. Would recommend, easy units.

regret that i could've had an easy A. Everything we did was incredibly simple and straightforward but you'd still have to put in work. before I took him I thought he was going to be so strict but he genuinely cares about you passing. Also don't drop when u hear the word presentation, it's simple and he wont degrade you and put you on the spot.

Flexible, accommodating, caring, great lecturer, has a heart, entertaining. Tests and presentation are worth nothing, grade is entirely dependent on doing lab assignments . If you're on top of them, you'll get an easy A. If you miss a few, your grade will tank so hard you'll never recover. Bad grading criteria only complaint. Would recommend.

(Summer 2020) Super chill professor who easily got along with his classmates. I was comfortable approaching him when struggling or asking for feedback on my work. Not only that, but he didn't require much critical thinking; what needs to be answered is clearly laid out. This class wasn't hard, even for its fast pace. A professor worth taking!

Dr. Nisani is an excellent professor. He's a great teacher and cares about both the subject and the students. He definitely knows his stuff. I took the class online during Covid-19 and he made the best of it. I had a rough semester and got a C but if you turn in your assignments and study hard for the tests, you should be able to earn an A or B.

Start his assignments as soon as you read the syllabus. There is TONS of reading for assignments and exams. I've never worked so hard in a class before. I learned many skills I can take when transferring. He doesn't follow the lab manual to make sure students are paying attention. I wish he had more visuals in class. Other than that 10/10

Dr. Zia Nisani was an incredibly inspirational professor. A few labs were dense, but they allow for you, the student, to demonstrate your knowledge and analytical skills as a Biology Major! He's a good professor who explains things thoroughly, and likes questions. He grades meticulously, so go to office hours to have him double-check your work. He likes mentioning atheistic & anti-theistic arguments intermittently throughout his class, but otherwise, he was cool. He often incorporates humor into his lectures to liven up class

Amazing teacher, really funny guy. Theres a lot of reading and homework you have to do, and participation is very very important. He's a great teacher and explains things well. You have to really put in effort too if you want a good grade, I personally struggled in this class but if you really do the work and study hard you should get a good grade

So long as you truly try in his class, such as participating in the lectures and keeping up with the reading,you will do well in his class. There is a lot of information to cover- but he explains it all very well. Show up to class. I would absolutely take this class again!

This man is very passionate about what he teaches, but let me tell you... this class is very heavy. He assigns tons of readings and many assignments, and trust me these assignments and readings are a lot but they help you in the class to understand the concepts. THIS CLASS IS NOT FOR PROCRASTINATORS!!!

Stay organized in order to stay ahead, expect lots of reading, in class assignments, homework and a research project. This class is heavy but manageable, he is very understanding and always tries to help his students out if you speak up! Class is as tough as a university lecture and worth it, great class and great professor, thank you !

read the syllabus and stay on top of assignments!! study for tests 4-7 days before and participate. lot of assignments, sometimes a picky grader but he is an amazing professor!!!! you can tell he cares about his students and wants them to do their best. loved this class and got an A #misstheclass

Dr. Nisani is a great professor, I learned so much in just one class day due to his techniques that he uses to teach. He says a joke every 45 seconds on average and his class is not boring at all. I Would definitely suggest that you take his class. You just have to read a lot.

Guy has no filter and won't sugercoat criticism but you can tell he is trying to get you ready for university. The workload is a ton which is expected for a 5 credit course so if you are a procrastinator then you will not pass this class. I suggest showing up everyday especially on the lectures before exams. Have scantrons and a calculator aswell.
