Prof Uddin writes clearly on the board and does lots of examples. He also gives us problems to practice in class and goes over them. He does not like it when people talk in class and disturb others. But if you ask him questions in class he always answers them. he is very formal in class but friendly if you see him during office hours.
Positives: clear explanations, good class examples, cares about students, nice person, knows his stuff. Negatives: not enough time to cover everything, most of the class is failing, teacher has a weird accent.
He is a nice guy and will explain stuff again if you ask him. He is giving us sample problems from each section before the exams. That has been very helpful. He could try to make the class more entertaining. But overall a pretty solid professor.
not very helpful, very hard to understand. Doesnt go over stuff that is on the exams.
He does a very good job going over lots of examples in class. I like it when he gives us examples to try in class before going over them. His review sheets for the exams are very good and include many different types of problems. He will answer all your questions in class. But if you miss class or don't do homework you are pretty much screwed.
Awesome professor, easy to understand, just dont ever miss class...ever! you will be lost if you do!
I agree he is awesome and you will be lost if you miss class. Also don't skip homework ever!
He is great! He gives us typed lecture notes and we just fill in the steps for the problems he works on the board. He also makes sure we follow him and he answers all our questions. We just had our first midterm and I did great!
Very solid professor. Typed lecture notes are great. You have to do all the homework. There are no review sheets for exams. That sucks but professor is easy to understand.
Very hard to understand, moves very fast with his lectures.
Very good teacher but the class is VERY HARD and FAST! He helps us by giving typed lecture notes and tries to make sure we follow him in class. Still the class goes too fast sometimes but thats not his fault. In office hours he is very nice and helpful. You MUST do the homework. I failed the first midterm because I didnt. Did Ok in the next one.
Awesome professor! He emails lecture notes for every class so we don't have to copy as much from the board and if we miss class we still know what was covered. His explanations are very clear and he waits to make sure everyone understands. And his handwriting is great. He has a funny Arab accent but don't worry he is very easy to understand.
Awesome professor! He emails clear lecture notes with definitions and just asks you to follow/write in the examples. He sort of sounds british, so he is extremely easy to understand.
Dr Uddin puts a lot of care in class and the great typed lecture notes he e-mails us. If you attend all his classes and do the homework you will do well for sure unless you really really really suck in math. He is very nice and helpful but he gets mad if you give him too much attitude or complain too much. In class he answers all questions and expl
He has got to be the most organized professor ever. He e-mailed us great lecture notes and review sheets and his explanations are crystal clear. He answers all your questions in class. He is also helpful by e-mail and in his office. His Indian accent is easy to understand. Great guy!
Fantastic professor! Lecture notes are awesome and makes it really easy to follow the problems. He is quite a funny guy and kept us smiling by sending us funny and encouraging emails. This is a TOUGH class and you will be totally lost if you don't show up and don't do homework. He pushed us hard but the lecture notes made it manageable. Just.
He's pretty sarcastic so I never felt I could ask questions.
I had a great time in Profesor Uddin's class. His explanations are very clear and he always asked us if we have questions on the steps. I love the lecture notes. They made it easy to follow what he was doing on the board. If you don't miss class you will have no problems following his lectures. He is also really helpful in office hours and funny!
Mr Uddin did a great job explaining stuff. Sometimes he's impatient with dumb questions. Even tho he's under pressure to finish the sillabus he needs to be nicer to the dumb students. Also he gets really angry if you give him attitude. But he knows his stuff and his lecture notes are fantastic. Don't miss class and do the homework and you'll do ok.
He's a very good professor. Good explanations, good notes, and helpful in office hours. He also takes time to make sure we follow him in class and answers all our questions in class. But he gets VERY angry when people talk in class with each other. So basically don't give him attitude and don't talk in class. Asking him questions in class is ok.
Gives notes out through email that he then has you fill in during class. Very good way of including the students in lecture and starting the process of cementing the information.
Lecture notes are great. They are like having Khan academy lectures in class with a tutor helping you. He also gives very good and very long review sheets before the exams. he could be a little less aggressive and intimidating and he should give points for doing homework.
He does not comprehend well! Also does not have patience. When asking for help he simply blows you off and tries to make a joke about it. Not cool
The notes are great and the explanations are clear. His lectures are a bit fast and it would be good if he would slow down. But overall he is a good teacher.
He has the best review sheets and e-mails lecture notes to us we are supposed to bring to class. If you show up and do the review sheets you will do fine in the exams. He always makes a big deal about doing homework. But if you come to class and do the review sheets you will be fine. He has 7 exams and so even if you mess up a few you can do well.
You can hardly understand him with his accent. Does not have patience to answer questions and answers them with low respect to each individual student. Makes students asking questions feel worthless. Each test is less than 10 questions.. good luck if you miss over 2 questions.
My favorite professor so far! He emails us typed lecture notes that we bring to class. His explanations and writing on the board is really clear and he always makes sure we follow the steps. He also gives great review sheets before the exams. You drop the lowest exam which helps. I hope he will teach math1130 when I take it.
Dr Uddin is a really good teacher. His explanations on the board are crystal clear. He does not skip steps and always stops to check if we understand. Compared to his lectures the homework feels harder. Also his review sheets are much harder than the exams from Columbus campus. After doing the homework and review sheets the exams seem easy.
I suck in math and I dont think I would of passed this class without Dr Udin as my professor. I don't have any other teacher who gave typed lecture notes like he did. I liked how he solved problems on the board step by step. He also gave very detailed review sheets for the exams. I failed the first 2 midterms but he drops the lowest so that helped.
Great professor, a lot of students didn't like him due to the fact that he made them look dumb when they asked questions. Aside from that he was easy to understand. 6 mid terms, drop the lowest score and then a final. I did all the homework and got an A.
Good teacher! Doesn't waste anytime. Comes to class and starts right away. His style is kind of military but he explains stuff very clearly and checks to make sure we understand all the steps. Sometimes he makes jokes. His reviews for the exams are GREAT! He sometimes gets impatient with dumb and rude students. The class had quite a few idiots!
I ended up withdrawing from this class because I wasn't doing well at all. A lot of that was self-inflicted. Aside from that, Uddin was awesome. He gives awesome notes, lectures, and study guides. If you like math, do the homework, etc - you will be fine. He is very unapproachable when there are questions though!
I agree with the comments that Uddins a good teacher. Gives awesome lecture notes and study guides. His explanations and board writing is very clear. But its not true that he's unapproachable or makes people feel dumb. Actually he is funny! Said he might have to tell us dirty jokes to make us relaxed and ask more questions! Overall he is awesome!
His class is very boring...
Fantastic professor! Great lecture notes, great reviews, great explanations, very helpful over email and in office hours, replys to emails quickly. Hot potato!
The best teacher I have ever had. He was great!!!
He's not helpful and very judgmental.
Amazing teacher! The lectures are crystal clear and easy to follow with the typed notes. Great way to get us involved. He stops to make sure we are following and good at answering questions in class and emails. The review guides are fantastic. The exams seem easy after doing the reviews. Don't skip class and you'll do fine.
The best thing about Professor Uddin's class are the lecture notes and the study guides. He puts those on Carmen. He makes a big deal about doing homework but if you show up in class and do the study guides you'll do ok in the exams. He explains things really well and will answer all your questions. He is also very funny sometimes!
Awesome professor! My high school teacher didnt explain a lot of this stuff but Uddin makes sure every step makes sense. If you don't print the lecture notes from Carmen you'll be lost in class. I do all the homework and the review sheets and the exams are pretty easy. The review sheets are kinda long but they really prepare you.
He's terrible. Not helpful when you ask questions. Makes rude remarks. A poor excuse for a math professor. Exams every 2 weeks. No extra credit what so ever.
The math lab is better than class. He doesn't always work out the problems. If you ask him to solve a problem with multiple steps he'll ask you to pick 1 part. He is sarcastic and extremely rude. Terrible prof.
Prof Uddin is a really good teacher. He puts lecture notes and exam study guides on carmen and its really helpful to follow the problems in class with the lecture notes. His explanations are awesome and he makes sure we understand. If you email him with homework questions he will also help you by email. Overall he is a really good teacher.
Very good professor! He gives great lecture notes and great review sheets. He also explains problems step by step to make sure everyone understands him. I went to his office hours once and he was very nice. Don't miss class or you'll be lost! He has review days before exams and those are really helpful. He'll answer all your questions if you ask.
Dr Uddin is a fantastic professor. His lectures are very easy to follow with the notes he puts on Carmen. His writing on the board is easy to follow and he makes sure we follow the steps. He gives very detailed review sheets for the exams. He tries to make sure we understand the math and can do well in the exams. Definitely take his class!
He is an amazing professor. Very easy to get good grade if you actually do the work. He is very helpful even during exams. He will give you clues to figure the question out. I advise you to take him.
Great professor!
literally worst professor of all time. he doesn't help.
He is a very good and funny teacher. Lecture notes are easy to understand and keeps us involved in class. He stops and makes sure we are following what he writes on the board. The practice exams are really good. He yelled at some people a couple of time because they kept talking in class. But if you ask questions he will answer all your questions.
Pretty easy. There were only 4 tests and homework was all due at the end of the semester. Honestly the material was pretty boring so I skipped a couple times ... it was worth it. Nice guy, he laughs at his own jokes a lot. hands down the easiest math class I have ever taken.
He's a nice guy, but he's not that great of a teacher. He tries to help, but he can come off as rude. He's not very good at answering questions either. But he is a very easy grader and he's a pretty funny guy.
Great teacher and a funny guy! Really knows his stuff! Very good at explaining all the concepts and writes everything on the board and so its easy to copy down all the information. He also makes sure we understand the steps and asks us if its making sense. But sometimes he has difficulty answering questions. Assigns lots of homework.
Good teacher! He puts all the lecture notes on Carmen. In class you just have to copy the solutions of the problems on the board. He puts all the steps on the board and explains the steps well. There is a lot of homework and the practice tests are long but the tests are pretty easy after that. Nice guy but yells at people who give him attitude!
Easiest math I've ever taken. Homework was due at the end of the semester and the exams were a piece of cake with the exception of one. His notes are thorough and his exams were open book. I'm not one to skip class but I did twice because if you miss a class or two, you really don't miss much.
Don't buy the book! Uddin puts all homework on mymathlab. You can get the book and mymathlab in carmen for 25 bucks. His lectures are very detailed and clear. He is a nice guy and jokes around sometimes. Homework is due at the end of semester so you have time. Tests are open book so if you show up in class and do homework you get an easy A.
I got a B on his class, I personally believe/hope it's because I skipped too many classes. Do the ALEKS homework when it's "due". ALWAYS, THIS WAS MY DOWNFALL. Also do Exam Review, they can be quite helpful. He needs to work on his sense of humor, can come across as rude. Overall, he's an okay teacher.
His lectures are easy to follow if you print the lecture notes off of Carmen before coming to class. He does a really good job explaining all the steps and answering questions but sometimes got impatient when people did not know things they should know. Make sure you do all the Aleks homework and the exam reviews. They are long but really helpful.
Not a bad teacher, but doesn't really work well with students. His heart is in the right place, but he's rigid and doesn't care if a student is struggling.
Uddin is a good teacher. He puts lectures in Carmen which you print and bring to class. He explains everything really well. Some of the aleks homework takes a while but overall it's not too bad. If you do the homework and do the practice exam reviews you will do OK in the exams. It's quite a lot of work but make sure you don't fall behind.
Dr. Uddin is awesome at explaining math. He made sure we understood the steps in a problem and always asked us if we had questions. I don't understand why students stopped showing up in class because his explanations are very clear. His lectures are really easy to follow if you print the lecture notes from Carmen and have them with you in class.
Definitely a tougher prof, but he prepares you well. Knows his stuff, gives good lectures, and is willing to help you if you need it. Obviously, if you skip math lectures, you're going to fail.
Overall wasn't a bad guy, just isn't the best teacher. You have to buy the textbook for the accesscode which is used for the dreaded ALEKS homework. He only grades tests and completion of the ALEXS homework. His lectures can be hard to follow along as he just reads off the notes and hardly explains the material.
terrible professor for math 1148. if you get him switch. i got the highest score on my final in the class and it was only a 62%. does not teach the material, just assumes that you know. his exact words: "It is not my job to make sure you know it, it is to get through the lectures on the syllabus"
Uddin verbally shoots down people who ask questions about the lecture (even when he asks "any questions?"). He also has a harsh way of grading. On the test, when it says it's optional (not required) to show work, and a student shows work wrong but gets the answer correct, the problem is marked wrong. The math is very easy, however.
Dr. Uddin is a great teacher. He is also very nice and sometimes very funny! He puts the lecture notes on Carmen and so it's easy to follow his lectures if you print and bring the notes to class. He explains things very clearly and gives a long list of review problems before tests. All the homework problems from the book are online in Connectmath.
Uddin is an awesome teacher. He is much better than my high school teacher. He really knows his stuff and will help you if you need it. The homework is online and it takes some time to get used to it but once you figure out how to enter your answers it's not bad. Love his typed lecture notes and the review problem sheets for the tests.
Good at lecturing but very apathetic and uncaring of how difficult the class is in consideration to other classes on campus and student concerns. Not very accessible outside of class and lacks social grace.
Lecturer Uddin insults his students, calls his lectures "garbage" and tries to make it difficult for his students in any way he can. Example: On tests where it says "showing work is optional" and the work is wrong, and the answer is right, he takes off points. At least 2 hours of homework per night. He is also very political, and gets sidetracked.
I had a good time in Dr. Uddin's class. He puts his lecture notes on Carmen. Bring them to class and follow along with what he writes on the board. Great way to get us involved. He explains all the steps and he can be really hilarious! The on-line homework isn't too bad and is basically 200 free points. The review sheets are long but prepare you.
Uddin is one of my favorite profs. He was great at explaining every step and stopped to check if we got it. The mymathlab homework was usually easy because he did similar problems in class. All the homework was due at the end of finals so you don't have to worry about short deadlines. The tests were easy compared to the homework and review sheets.
He is one of the toughest professors on campus but he will prepare you well for the next math class. I had AP calc in high school but still spent like 4 hours per week on the homework on-line. But I learned a lot compared to high school. He is great at lecturing and really knows his stuff. Sometimes he can be kind of tough but he is also hilarious.
He is very good at explaining things in class and he was good at helping me in his office. But he will make you work really hard to get a good grade. Be prepared to spend 4 or 5 hours every week on the online homework. Compared to this my other classes were a breeze. But he is pretty nice. He has an accent but it's not too hard to understand.
Uddin gives clear lectures and really knows his stuff. He types the notes and puts them on Carmen. If you miss class or don't print and bring the notes to class you will be lost. He is a pretty nice person and can be hilarious. But I don't see why he makes us do homework 3 or 4 hours per week. My other teachers are WAY easier!
extremely difficult and hard to follow his lectures as he just does the problems and doesn't explain how to do it. He doesn't help much when I asked for help outside of the classroom and worries more about getting through the lectures. The tests are difficult and if you ask a question, he treats you like you are dumb. never again.
Zia gives a ton of homework that he thinks as helpful but its an overload on top of other class schoolwork, if you ask him for help during lecture he makes you feel stupid for even asking. If you can, chose another Professor. So wish I would have.
His heart is in the right place but he gives way more work compared to other professors. The aleks homework takes like 5 hours a week and the practice exams are way long. His lecture notes are great and he explains all the steps really well. But he needs to make the tests like the practice exams. Good guy but he needs to go easy on us!
Uddin puts his lectures in Carmen and is great at explaining problems in class. But he tries too much to turn us into "super good students" and does not understand that college students are really stressed. Making us spend 5 hours every week on Aleks homework is unacceptable. Also he should make the tests like the practice exams he puts in Carmen.
He is a terrible professor! All the homework is online & takes hours upon hours to do. Homework is 200 points, there are 5 test (80 points each), & the final is 200 points. He goes way too fast when teaching and cant answer students questions. Its either his way or the high way. Plus he called Americans stupid! Please save yourself the stress.
Dr. Uddin is a solid professor. He comes across as more formal compared to my other professors but that's because of his foreign accent. He explains everything in class really clearly puts his lecture notes on Carmen. He sometimes makes jokes and sometimes talks politics. It's hilarious how he called the Democratic party unbelievably corrupt!
Uddin is a good teacher if you get used to his style. He puts the lectures in Carmen. He sticks to those rigidly in class but he explains everything step by step. He is too smart and sometimes has difficulty understanding students. The aleks homework takes like 4 hours every week. His test reviews are much longer and harder than the actual tests.
Whoever says he's easy, he isn't. He doesn't care about your grade or if you learned the material, he just cares about getting through the lectures. He seems nice but if you ask questions, he like gets mad. If you aren't good at math, don't take this class, you will struggle. Tests are hard and review guide is nothing like the tests.
I'm doing good in Uddin's class but I DO NOT recommend him. It takes too long to do the homework (5 hours a week!) His review sheets don't look like the tests. Other professors are way way easier and give practice exams like the actual exams. But Uddin is good with lecturing and explaining problems step by step.
If you don't have a PhD in math, don't take Uddin's class. He is mentally incapable of explaining things on a normal level. Very textbook answers which leave you still wondering about your question. Pretty fast pace so you will want to make sure you keep up. Class isn't mandatory as you can probably learn better from the online homework than him.
He's alright. Tough class if you need to learn. He's pretty average. Not a bad prof or person by any means, but not good either. Don't panic if you have to take him, but there could be a better prof out there if you have options. Very tough grader and you HAVE to be very self motivated for the class. I didnt do well, but that was entirely my fault
Did better with him than in high school, breaks your ego but you'll learn a lot.
Do not take, he is very critical and condescending which makes you feel uncomfortable to ask questions.
Be prepared to spend a ton of time doing homework on the computer. Also Uddin's exam review sheets are way longer than the actual exams. But Uddin puts his lectures on Carmen and he is very good at explaining math. You can learn a lot from him as long as you don't mind spending many hours every week on the homework.
Some lectures make sense, some dont. Theres overcomplication of problems which makes a problem seem difficult even though it isnt. Lots of homework but its a good grade boost at the end of the semester, especially if you do badly on the tests and need to scrape by and barely pass.
Pretty simple class, show up youll do just fine. Be prepared to do lots of homework, but the hw makes it impossible to fail by the way its made. Its an awesome grade boost if you dont do well on exams. The exams are WAY easier than the reviews!!!
Uddin is fantastic at explaining math step by step and its easy to understand his lectures if you bring the lecture notes to class. On-line homework is 25% of the grade and it's impossible not to get all the points if you complete it. The review sheets are long but great for preparing you for the tests. Tests are MUCH easier than reviews.
Found this class to be very difficult, stressful, & time-consuming. Spent 8+ hrs/wk in tutoring center for hw alone. Passed with a C. Class is worth 700 pts, 200 for connectmath hw, 100 for each of the 3 exams, & 200 for the final exam. Do hw & you should pass. Did not use textbook, only need the connectmath code. Grades correct process & answers.
Honestly cannot stand him. When you ask questions, he doesn't understand why you don't understand the info. And his teaching style is so bad. He gives out guided notes (thank god) but all he does is go over that information, he doesn't interact with he class. And he just doesn't do a very good job at teaching.
He does not teach, he gives you a packet with easy problem in them and then you go to connect math with easy problem to practice with and your test has hard questions you didnt get to practice.
Uddin gives good lectures and puts the notes on Carmen. He is also very funny sometimes. Connect math homework is 25% and a great grade boost. Homework is pretty easy if you come to class and copy the problems he works out. He gives long practice tests which really prepare you but the tests are way easier. I wish he could be my calculus teacher.
Really good teacher and pretty funny sometimes! I'm learning the math much better here than in high school. He goes into a lot of detail and does lots of problems in class. It IS a hard class and the connect math homework takes a while to do. The tests seem pretty easy tho after the homework. But man those review sheets are loooooong!
As a professor, he is very good! One of the best math instructors I've ever had. He genuinely wants you to understand the material. However, he does have a little bit of an attitude if a student does not understand the material and he gets frustrated easily. Overall, he is a great person and professor. Tip: do not get behind on the homework!
Nice guy, horrible class. Ive never struggled with math until this class. Gets frustrated if you have questions and isnt great at explaining things when youre confused. Grades unnecessarily hard; if you dont do it his way its wrong. I dreaded going to this class everyday and it really ruined my semester (Fall 2019).
Going to Uddin's hybrid class is optional. He puts lecture videos and typed notes in Carmen. The videos are pretty easy to understand and you copy everything on the typed notes. Makes it easy for review. Homework is online and you have 10 attempts for every problem. Exam problems are like homework. He's pretty nice and helpful but kind of formal.
I took the async course but this is a great math class taught by a great professor. Lectures are really easy to understand, 10/10 would take again.
Good prof! Class is hybrid flipped. For me it was mostly online because attendance is optional. I liked not having to go to class everyday. He did a great job every time I needed help. He seems highly trained in making great videos and typed notes with examples and learning methods for students to understand math. Don't fall behind with homework!
It's a hybrid class and you need to go to class only for exams. Uddin's video lectures are pretty easy to understand. He lets us know every week what we need to do for that week. Some of the graphing homework problems are annoying but he will tell you how to do them if you ask. His exams don't look exactly like his reviews! The reviews are long!
If you are looking for a Math1148 course, I do not recommend Professor Uddin. He teaches through a hybrid flipped method requiring students to learn through a Youtube video he uploads weekly and printing your own lecture packets. You pay $80 for an access code to do your homework on ConnectMath. Only have to come to class for help or for test/final
One of the worst teachers at osu. Basically have to learn math on your own and he gets upset/frustrated when you go to him for help if you don't understand something. He does not create the tests or the final exam so the practice packets are very different in comparison. Shouldnt even be considered a professor for how little he does for his class.
Would always get mad when asking questions, would also make you feel dumb asking the questions and would rush you and get you out of his class as fast as he can
way too much work for a four credit class
Worst teacher ever basically gets payed to show up and yell fire him immediately. Makes college distasteful!!!
I have never struggled with math until this course. He is terrible at explaining only reads off notes. this was a hybrid course where we only showed up for tests. He used 3+ year old YouTube videos to "lecture". Reviews do NOT resemble test, at all. He is extremely confusing. If you don't solve the problem the way he does, it's only partial credit.
This professor does it all online except for tests. He will use Aleks to have you do homework. Even though my schedule said 2 classes a week he will give you 3 to 4 on top of the extensive Aleks questions. Don't take his class if you have a lot of outside obligations.
This class was the worst class I ever took at OSU. He does not teach you anything he makes you watch 1 hour lectures 3 times a week and extensive ALEKS assignments on those lectures and if you tried to ask for help on those assignments all he responds with is "did you take ALL notes for ALL the lectures" very unhelpful & stressful course.
Im not even done with the class and it is so degrading. He is so confusing and MEAN. After a test i asked if i could retake and he basically called me an idiot for even thinking that was an option. In one of his lectures insted of using X to resemble a missing number he used T and said "i use T in honor of president trump. So weird
This class has a specific style, but it works well if you engage with it. The lecture videos and typed notes are super helpful. I found Unstuck study to be a great supplement for study prep too. Definitely don't fall behind on the homework!
He talked about his political beliefs and also said that we need to stop giving jobs away to people who were born other than the US but then proceeded to say he was born outside the US. Also, made you feel stupid when asking a question but then was confused why no one did well in the class. But, only made us come to class for tests/exams.
He puts all his lecture videos and notes online. He was really good at replying to my emails and WebAssign homework questions quickly so i only showed up in class for exams. There were 47 lectures and 47 homework assignments. He gave good reviews for exams but those were long. Exams were pretty easy. Overall a solid professor but don't fall behind!
Uddin puts his lecture videos and notes online. Videos are really good so you dont have to go to class. I went only twice to ask questions. He helped me but he is kind of too formal. He was good with emails. But his tests dont look like his reviews. The reviews are long but if you do them the tests are easy. Homework is like 25% of your grade.
I LOVE Prof Uddin's lecture videos! He seems trained to teach students with many different math abilities. He also makes it easy to review by giving typed notes we fill in when we watch the videos. You don't even need to go to class! He will answer all your questions and give good test review. The test feels easy after doing the review.
All lectures were online and only needed to come to class for tests BUT the topics move on too fast, it's a whole new topic each day. If you can't do some stuff in your head the things he says lowkey makes you feel dumb like sorry bro I can't do 27/12 in my head. His tests are not long but they low-key don't look like what you study for.
Great professor and great lecture videos and notes! He will help you in class and if you email him questions and his test reviews are great too. The homework isnt too bad but his test reviews are kind of long. The tests are pretty easy if you do the homework and the reviews and you can use calculators.
Nice caring professor! He's very good with replying to email quickly and wants us to do well. This course involves a lot of work. There's a lot of his lecture videos to watch and notes to copy and lots of homework. Plus the exam reviews takes a while to finish. On the flip side you don't even need to go to class and the exams aren't too bad.
The only thing he would put in were test, so it made it hard to pass the class.
