Physics is hard and Dr. Webster sure does not make it easy to understand. I spend an absurd amount of time doing the homework assignments and I barely can do them. She polled the class and 52% of the class was unprepared for her actual exam. When we asked her some questions she will reply "it's in the book." Look at Columbus State RMP it's accurate

Webster teaches the class like you should've already taken physics before. Her teaching style of teaching is write a problem on the board and solve it herself without explaining her steps or much of anything at all. Our section's first test grade average without a curve was a failing grade. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Granted, the semester I had her the curriculum changed and we had no practice test, we got screwed. Webster didn't soften the blow. Good at explaining concepts, but condescending and expects you to already know ALL, and i mean ALL of the material before classes. Tests are ridiculous, Webassigns are spaced in the most obnoxious way.

Webster's first semester at State was not a good one; her teaching style of banking on students' curiosity to carry them through the class doesn't work for everyone in college. Her lectures aren't very descriptive, she doesn't do useful examples in class, and good luck doing the homework without Chegg. Be ready to learn everything outside of class.

I'll give her some credit, she technically covered all of the subjects in the curriculum. But her class overall is awful. She is very condescending and treats her students like children. The examples she gives aren't very helpful and she rarely finishes explaining them. Homework is always far ahead of the in-class topic. Do NOT recommend.

The beginning of class is often spent wasting time and not being taught. When the lecture finally starts information is not conveyed in a comprehensive manner. She has also devastated the physics department as a whole, making tests have to be curved in order not to tank the entire class's grades.

Before taking Zodiac, I was really interested in physics and even considered majoring in a related field; this class changed my mind. She may be the worst teacher I have ever had. She spends the entire class doing one or two problems, and usually doesn't give us the answers to them. Also, she changed NCSU's physics problem sessions, which now suck.

Dr. Webster is accustomed to teaching a small, passionate class. She spends most of class deriving formulas from scratch, which would be useful if we didn't have a formula sheet for the exams. If you're not a very conceptual person, you'll have to devote a lot of time outside of class to read the textbook.

Dr. Webster is the sole reason I dread heading to campus. Her lectures are pointless; you might as well not even go. She is an abomination to professors and I wholly regret giving her a chance. I'm sure the positive comment below is Webster herself trying to mask the fact that she is the most disgusting excuse for a professor. I beg you to avoid.

Dr. Webster has a Ph.D in astrophysics, which kind of works against her. She likes to explain everything with complex variable and equations with no visual aids to help clear up the alphabet soup on the board. She also does very few actual examples in class. Be prepared to find other resources to supplement lecture. Very difficult homework too.

Use lecture to read the textbook- they are useless otherwise. Her lectures suck, she wouldn't curve tests even if the entire class failed (the other physics teachers made her do it this semester), and shes actually crazy. Avoid at all costs.

Dr. Webster is a terrible instructor. Going to class is useless because she only does one or two problems in the hour and 15 minute long class. These examples don't even align with the types of problems asked on tests and homework (which were very hard). She is condescending to her students during lectures and one on one. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!

Take her if you want to do the most work for the lowest grade. Her lectures are not very informative. No outside class resources, barren moodle page. Makes up clicker questions on the spot and doesn't tell the answer, even when we ask for it. She'll tell you to talk to your neighbors as "x% of people got it right, discuss." My neighbors don't know.

This class was extremely difficult for me. I'm not someone who naturally understands physics and the concepts of 208 are hard to grasp anyway, but Webster made it even harder. She talks to us like we're stupid, doesn't post the exam key for days, and her slides are completely useless if you want to use them to review. AVOID AVOID AVOID I BEG YOU

Webster is enthusiastic about physics however she teaches as if this is everyone's second round through physics and automatically understands the topics. She's sporadic, makes no lesson plans (just teaches off the top of her head whatever seems like a good idea), she rarely does any useful problems in class and when she does she never finishes it.

I have never had a worse professor. Extremely unhelpful and stubborn. She does not make her own slides, and spends the majority of lectures doing example problems. The exams she did not make were fair, but she makes the exams now. Both exams students did terrible on. She is very condescending to anyone who asks questions. Even the TAs say shes bad!

You could be illiterate and gain more from reading the textbook than you would from going to class. It's probably worth skipping and missing out on the attendance score than listening to her at all

She makes the tests for all of the physics classes and they are ridiculous. Why give us practice tests if they won't have anything that's on the real test? This year everyone did extremely poor on the 3rd test, but instead of going over the material that everyone struggled with, she taught other things yet made the final heavy of test 3 material.

Webster is pretty much the worst professor I have ever had and probably ever will. Tests are difficult and lectures are useless. You can pretty much skip them.

Useless lectures, does not respect students. Repeatedly told the class not to come to her office hours to waste her time. Attendance was mandatory. She will use test questions that have nothing to do with the lectures, homeworks, or study guides so there is no good way to prepare. Avoid her, but she may still write the PY exams.

When I actually went to class, halfway through I began to hate God for giving me the legs that brought me there.

I had her for PY205 and looked at her grade distribution for Spring of 2018. Her grade distribution does not indicate how poorly she taught. The students that have posted on this ratemyprofessor have no reason to lie about how terrible of a teacher she is. Trust in the students that have posted before this, or else your grades WILL suffer.

Sometimes I like to sit and think about life. I think about the trees, the sunshine. And then I start shuddering when I remember the butt-duckery experienced in her physics classes.

Does not teach well, or at all. Nothing useful toward you actually learning the material is done during the lecture and will definitely not help on the homework or the tests. If you have to take her class be prepared to teach yourself, and truthfully you will be able to teach yourself in a subject you don't know better than Professor Webster can.

She can't teach anything she just reads off slides and is incredibly disorganized she also doesn't teach anything that remotely prepares you for the test. Also very annoying

Zodiac Webster absolutely ruined the NC State Physics Department. Nearly all content was taught to a degree of negligence that made most topics beyond comprehension. She and her entire staff within this department purposefully tricked many students who work hard for their desired grade. I recommend taking this course elsewhere.

Zodiac uses a flip classroom model that she has forced on the whole physics department. You're expected to read the textbook outside of class and come to class knowing the material. She uses top hat to make sure you don't come to class late or leave early and does in class questions/quizzes on it. I strongly advise against taking her.

Terrible teacher. Takes attendance at beginning and end of class. Not allowed to email her and makes her students use some stupid app to send her questions. Claims to have terrible hearing, but will get on at students if they talk "too loud." Put sample tests online then says that they're nothing like the actual tests. Overall terrible, don't take.

I'll give her some credit, lots of people do like to complain when something finally gets hard. Regardless, she is negligent about presenting information, passive aggressive in comments and responses, and takes all the fun out of physic. Having a cheery mood does not equal having fun. The act gets tiring after a week.

Whoever wrote the comment criticizing students for "acting like a child"- come on! Physics is a subject I loved, and during this class we were told to not "waste her time". She would give us minimal information and shame us when we didn't know the answers. To be told it was my fault is disheartening, and now I hate physics because of this class.

She is the reason the physics department at NCSU is in shambles. Highly advise taking PY 205 elsewhere.

I learned everything I know from the textbook. I learn best through examples and her lectures mainly focused on theory and derivations. If you have to take her, my best advice is to do the extra credit homework assignments before the graded ones because they give you feedback and even some tutorials so you have a better chance to do well on the HW.

I think State was on something when they made her the only physics teacher available over the summer, especially the summer with covid. We already have to deal with a sort of cancer in our day-to-day lives, but now we have to deal with cancer as a teacher too? They did her a favor bc there is no way she was getting a lot of students otherwise.

Webster is the reason that physics for engineers at NCSU is infamous. All logistical decisions are clearly designed to torture students, as watching students suffer is Webster's only joy in life. Homework is split into 3 different forms, each of which would be more than necessary on their own. There is no reason that she should have a teaching job.

Do not take physics with this woman! She assigned homework on three different platforms even though just WebAssign homework would be enough. I honestly think she gets a kick out of seeing kids fail and struggle. She is not very responsive to questions and will make you feel dumb for even asking.

Truly the worst professor I have ever had the cruel displeasure of taking. The class is so overthought to the point of inefficiency. She's the most unforgiving tester at the entire university. Genuinely hates her students and wants to see them fail despite 40+ hours per week sunk into the class. Would be better suited selling healing crystals.

Only class I have dropped. As if PY 205 and 208 aren't awful enough, online they're 10x worse, with open-ended tests that don't guarantee partial credit but require work submissions. It's almost like she genuinely tries her hardest to fail students. I spent 10+ hours a day doing everything I humanely could, only to get like a 50 on the first test.

There is a reason that she has a 1.3 out of 5. Every day we had multiple HW assignments on 3 different websites, 5-8 videos to watch, a textbook she expected us to have time to read, and on top of it, tests that have questions that are completely different from what she was supposed to teach us. I promise you, you will regret taking her class.

This is single-handedly the hardest college course I've ever taken. She takes points off your test for a mistake SHE made, is not reasonable nor gracious to students even through the current situation, no curve, at least 4 hours of homework per day, and lectures that are unstructured and don't make sense. the worst professor i have ever come across in my life. when i went to office hours and asked her doubts she would show sarcastically point out about how i should pay attention in class. Never ever take her class. She will confuse you on the few topics that you knew before taking the class.

Dr. Webster is NOT a student oriented professor. At times it seems her goal is to make students fail. Her class is definitely a weed-out class. She is neither helpful nor respectful. If you have any other options, I strongly suggest you take them.

Not very accommodating for online classes. Flipped classroom, and even though zoom classes were required, they were not helpful in the slightest. The only reason I got a good grade was because the lectures were by someone else. Do not recommend.

Zodiac makes physics as time demanding and ridiculous as possible. Flipped classroom even though the lectures with profs are mandatory, an exceedingly heavy work load, and tests that have nothing to do with the content of the class. Take physics somewhere else and transfer those credits in, not worth it at all.

The tests in this class are brutal and will tank your grade. There are a lot of WebAssigns but they aren't too difficult on their own. The lectures however are completely useless and the videos don't teach well either. Your best bet for this class is a local community college because unless you are ready to pray to the physics gods you wont do well

Classes like Py205 and Py208 are not professor-oriented. Everything in the class is standardized: homework, lecture videos, quizzes, and tests. The tests hardly ever pertain to your homework so just study the textbook as much as possible, this woman's goal is to make as many people fail physics as possible. I would rate her with a 0 if I could.

Dont take PY205 at NCSU unless you did well in AP in hs. She wont respond to your emails, and if she does, it's a useless response. Even if the tests/problem sessions are unfair/incorrect (which is common), she wont help you, and your grade will suffer as a result.

It's almost like she hates human beings in general. Some people should really sit at home. I will even sponsor her just so she stays home. Please. How is she allowed to harass students like this? NEVER take a course with her.
