Bearing in mind that I am not very good at math, she was a hard teacher. Not too much homework or tests. She was clear but if you got confused she seemed frustrated that you didn't understand. So if you are really good at math and get frustrated by those not so skilled slowing the class down you should take her class. If you need a slow pace, dont.
shes ok. not the best at explaining but she did her part. she assigned relative assignments and she was moderate with the load. she graded homework and gave quizzes that were easy to pass if yuo did your work so it helps boost your grade. she does her part as a teacher and to do well you have to do yours as a student basically.
She is a great teacher.Take her time to explain the problems. If you attend every meeting, and do your homeworks you wont have problems.the final and the midterms are not different than the worksheets that she give. Sometimes there are the same problems.Great teacher if you want to learn and pass.Take her!!!
I thought this would be easy. But unfortunately she isn't. Math 902 should allow calc, and she doesn't let you. Even if you understand the work, it's hard w/o the calc, assuming you can't calculate problems in your head. More than half the students walked out during the final. And they attended and did the hw all the time.
She is semi-hard to understand, but gives fair tests and quizzes. You must do the homework and pay attention in class to do well...she is open for private tutoring but is not that useful.
Keeping in mind that math is not my strong area, this class was difficult at first. Once I got used to her teaching style, I started doing fine. Exams are fair. Homework, quizzes prepare well for exams and add extra points to grade. Not the easiest class I ever took, but enjoyed it and was well prepared for calc 3B.
don't be fool by her appearance and her teaching style on the first few days. actually, she is a very good teacher and she teach very well. her tests and quizes are fair and you can do it if you pay attention in class. she grade the homework well also. statistic is a hard subject, and yet i can understand it through her lectures.
Her teaching style was very different at first. She has a power point for ever chapter and highlights all the key points needed. I struggled a little bit towards the end, but she was more than helpful and will help if needed. She stuck around an additional 30min after every class. The textbook isn't necessary but would recommend it.
PAY ATTENTION!! thats all i can say cuz if you dont.....u wont pass.
Bad professor. Actually kind of offensive. Maybe they will replace her if people stop taking her classes
If math is not your best area I would not recommend her at all. When you ask questions she just repeats herself. The tests are hard. If you end up with her you will probably need outside help. She has and accent too, I believe its russian
she's a great teacher she's really serious with her teaching... her homeworks and worksheets are useful. if you love math, she is the best teacher I recommend to you
She is not a really good professor, she teaches like a machine, and she doesnt care if you get something or not. She just wants to finish the whole book, without anyone know something. If you are not good with math, PLEASE dont take her. I am sure you will drop the class. Her class is really boring.
She is a really great teacher! HW is a lot harder than what's on the tests. I learned a lot from her. Highly recommended!
Kravets is very organized in her teaching style. Her tests are hard. I never had enough time to finish a test. So, I failed her class. I heard she is supposed to be one of the best teachers at Mission. So, now I'm scared to take another math class, cuz I think I will fail again.
she is a very bad teacher. she doesn't know how to teach. Don't take her class if you want to learn math. Take her class when you have no problems with math, so you don't have to listen to her. The test is extremely hard. it's not even covered by the lecture.I wonder why the school board doesn't fire the teacher like her.
I took her in an online class, and found the class hard. But she was always available to help me out when I had a question. The tests are hard, but the homework helps a lot if you do it.I never saw her except at midterm and final, but she did a great job at returning emails fast. I learned a lot from the class.
This Teacher HAS NO sensitivity. She should NOT be teaching anything lower than Calculus. Wrong teacher for the MAPS program. It was NOT just me. If you struggle with math, get out fast. The MAPS program has changed since state budget cuts. NO full- time in-class tutor or Counselor. Class is the same as summer. BEWARE. Typical 100 ques.hwk!
A lack of humor creates a dry atmosphere in class so bringing a pillow is advised. Repetitive class schedules allow the student to come in at the end of class and be able to still learn something. Homework is assigned religiously, all in the preparation of three tests and a final consisting of harder than average textbook problems.
She's a fair teacher in general. This class is not an easy one for me because I am never good at math, but have to say I get lucky in her class. She didn't take attendance on a regular basis, but you have to do A LOT homework and extra assignment to pass this one.
I have never loved math, but I put in about 5-8 hours a week studying for this class and it resulted in an A. Lots of the students complained that it was too hard, but if you do all the assignments and do the test review, you won't have a problem. Stats is the same process over and over and Kravets is so clear. You'll only fail if you want to.
Horrible teacher. Has a very thick accent and speaks quite softly which makes it very hard to understand. Uses different symbols for stats than the book does so you have to remember both styles. The online homework uses other symbols too so at the end it was more confusing than difficult. Stats math is simple, but this teacher made it so confusing!
Just come to every class, do all the homework, and use the worksheets and review sheet to study for the exams. That's what I did and I got a good grade. And I'm terrible with math but she made it all make sense.
The key is to study before class, she is always very helpful if you have any questions, she knows her material. She is somewhat strict when grading but not unfair, I recommend taking her class.
She's one of the best math teachers I've ever had! She makes everything very clear and easy to understand. She's also really helpful and nice!I really enjoy statistics now, thanks to her!
exams are very hard
Anyone take this professor and pass with an A? What are the guidelines and techniques of this professor? Someone please rate! ^_^ Thank you!
I was her pupil about 20 years ago (in Russia)! She made me to love maths, and she is still one of the most bright teachers I ever met!
She is very picky when it comes to grading quizzes and tests. If you have the answer correctly and you have shown all your work, she will not give full credit because you have to write why you did this for every step. She deducts points on the slightest things what so ever. I advise to avoid taking her for any math class higher that Calc
Took her class for summer session. Great teacher! She really knows the material and is very detailed and organized. You can always ask for help; is very understanding and patient. Fair grader, and always states what's going to be on a test/quiz well beforehand. She's one of the better math teachers at the school. I would highly recommend her!
She makes you work, plain and simple. I took her for 3B in 2011 before I transferred to UCD and it was well worth it. If you can handle her, you will be fine once you transfer from Mission. She preps you to move forward.
I wasn't looking forward with math but WOW. FIRST MATH TEACHER THAT I ACTUALLY UNDERSTOOD. I've always HATED math, well I'm still not a fan of it, but Professor Kravets is really HELPFUL and THOROUGH with her explanations. ASK HER FOR HELP AND SHE WILL HELP YOU. If you don't understand something IT'S YOUR JOB TO ASK HER. Amazing teacher!
I always fail math. With Kravets I ended up with an A! The use of book is minimal/none DONT BUY IT- all the homework and info is on MyMathLab. Methods can be weird- but tests are easier then examples and not a lot of homework!
she doesn't care about her students even when you ask for help
she is not helpful and does not care about her students even if you email or ask for help
It's easy class. She is very helpful.
Really nitpicking tests and other stuff. Calculus is not hard but with this teacher she makes it really hard to understand, I'm better off studying on my own then coming to her class. Really pathetic.
Professor Kravets is very smart and professional. Three exams and one final. Test results are available the following week. She knows her material and her lectures are thorough. She provides practice exams but none of the questions will be on the exams. She grades very tough but her standards are atabove university's math level.
Great teacher and knows the material, but really challenges you. Also very approachable and friendly. It was also a challenging subject but she did what she could to make it accessible.
I took her back in 2011 before I transferred to a UC to study Statistics. She is challenging but that prepares you for the next level. Her and Retterrath are the best at Mission and if you plan on going any further in math at university, then they are the instructors to take.
I was preparing for the class on advance. Did everything by Syllabus, and on the end got F. Not negotiable. Goodbye dreams about University! I'm Giving up.
There is hmwk on hmwk on hmwk, and once you have finished the hmwk she has computer assignments to complete; one presentation;exams are from all the chapters on every test (meaning if you show up expecting to take exam on chs. 10-11, beware it will be an exam on chapters 1-11). She barely gives you a chance to pass the class. DO NOT TAKE HER.
This professor is HORRIBLE! I was in her stats class for about two weeks until I had enough and dropped. First off, it is very, very hard to understand her. She is from Russia and has a VERY THICK accent. She goes through her lectures extremely fast and piles tons of information on you all at once. She also assigns TONS of work. DO NOT TAKE HER!!
Kravets is definitely one of the better math teachers at mission. She has a clear grading criteria and does offer extra credit. If you pay attention and do the homework, the tests should be no problem.
She gives very specific lectures and teaches you what you need to know. She knows what she's talking about and if you need help with anything just ask. She gives practice tests that are almost identical to her exams and if you pay attentions, she tells you the questions that will be on it.
Professor Kravets is excellent. Math4A is not easy, but she explains everything super clear. Her class prepares you well for the university. She is very professional, and she is always willing to help her students. Strange why her review is not very high. If you like math, take her class, you will learn a lot.
Class mostly based off lectures. She is a straightforward lecturer but not outgoing. Tests are similar to problems on worksheets.
She is a tough grader and gives lots of work. Her class is hard but she is also a nice teacher! If you have any questions about the lecture, homework etc., she will help you out. She'll doesn't mind her students asking tons of questions if you still don't get the lecture. Overall, I would take her class again and would recommend to other students!
Highly recommend Zoya, she's great. Clear grading criteria, her class is tough, but she is always there to help you with what you need. She's really patient with people, and she is extremely helpful. She really goes the extra mile. She's such a great professor. Statistics is difficult, but her class is entertaining.
Took math 4a again after failing Lavallo. She made me feel better. She does make you work for your grade. Her class is straightforward. If you take her class, make sure you you stay on top of your game. I would take her again.
Definitely need to read the chapter before you attend "class" (CCConference since this was online class). Or else she blows through it and you're lost. Although if you sped through the reading and kind of grasp it, the lectures are helpful. She tells you what she will be looking for in quizzes and tests and what to study.
Mrs. Kravets was a great teacher for MAT 010, Elementary Statistics. I especially appreciated her organization with the curriculum. She made it easy to understand what tasks were due by the end of the week and was also helpful when it came to addressing what are the best practices to get a decent grade in the class. Definitely helped me learn!
Great professor but her class is not easy. She'll make you work for your grade. She gives a boatload of homework and she expects you to do math problems and explaining it for the exams. I learn a lot from her but if you're not committed, don't take her. Perfect class if you're a math major.
Amazing professor. I learned a lot from her class. Exams are challenging but it's similar to the worksheets she gives in class. A lot of homework to do in this class but it's doable and it's a math class. She's open to a lot of questions if you don't understand a lesson. Not an easy A but you will feel accomplished after taking her class.
Kravets is a tough professor but she is fair. Show up to class and take notes. She is really open to questions if you don't understand. Tests are like the worksheets but difficult. Allows a formula cheat sheet. Take her if you want to learn but wouldn't take her class if you only want a grade.
Professor Kravets is very responsive to emails and discussion forums. She is always looking for ways to be able to help students and encourages participation ( even in an online class). The class is difficult but if you put in the hours you will get an A. I really recommend taking her class!
Very straightforward and thorough lectures. Tests are reflective of classwork and homework. Really helpful and encourages participation: will interrupt herself to receive your question if she sees your hand up. Once I saw her literally jump to help someone. Grades a little strictly but not unfairly. Decent amount of effort required.
Kravets is an excellent math professor for those who are engineering majors. She gives a ton of honework but if you manage your time, you'll be fine. She will work with you to make sure you pass this class and leave with knowledge. Exams are fair and similar to the worksheets she gives in class.
Pros: Lectures are straightforward. Really helpful when you don't understand. Cons: Boatload of homework. Study the worksheets and study guide for the exam.
HUGE AMOUNTS OF HOMEWORK! Do not take unless you are prepared to work hard for a good grade! Professor Kravets is great but she really makes you work for it!
Kravets is good professor. However, this class is not for slackers. She will make you work a lot for your grade. Her class is heavy on homework but it's doable. Really approachable to questions even if you don't need help she will still jump in. That shows how much she cares about you. Take if you want to learn. It also improve my work ethic.
She is the worst professor I have ever had. She gave tons of homework, and I mean tons. She will look for every single smallest mistake you have on your exams to take your points away. She doesn't know how to teach nor how to organize class' materials. That's why it's better to learn from the book. 'Cause she doesn't care if you pass or fail.
She is a great instructor. Her class is really helpful with a lot of homework. But it is good. She shows you how to solve it step by step. Ask her if you have any problems.
She's a great professor, but you will work harder than you ever have for any other class. Easily 30-45 pages of homework per week, plus take home worksheets. Exams are thorough and long. She is very approachable and caring. Ask her for help.
While intimidating at first, Zoya's wit really makes the class enjoyable. Her openness through office hours shows her dedication towards the students. The exams are very fair and straight forward, based on lecture. However, the one complaint I have is the sheer amount of homework you get every week (I remember one section was questions 1-99).
Kravets is a good teacher. She gives a lot of homework but pushes you to strive better and work hard(around 30-60 problems each week). I learned a lot in this class. Make sure to take notes and understand the material. Recommend if you want to learn.
She is a good professor. She cares if you understand the material. There's a lot of work needed to get a decent grade in this class. If you're taking this class for a grade, look elsewhere. You'll learn a lot for this class :)
Zoya is very knowledgeable. Her lectures are straightforward and organized. She gives a lot of homework but start early so you can ask her homework questions during class. Worksheets and study guides are given to help you prepare for your exams. Engineering majors, take her class. Helped me transition easy for upper-division classes.
She is a very tough grader, in her exams it is so easy to find more than 20points per problem and she takes a lot of points even if you showed some work, sometimes she even don't give any credits. Her exams are hard. I was so excited to take MATH 4B but it didn't not turn out how I thought it would be. Won't take her again
Spring '21 Kravets is very detailed teaching the course material and is very willing to help students. Course material is difficult, but working hard to learn the material, attending all lectures, and asking questions will help you succeed. Challenging and long exams, but is well within the scope of what she teaches. You will learn a lot.
Nice and helpful professor. She is very good at lecturing, even through zoom it felt engaging. The tests were long questions that were graded very toughly, lots of small mistakes were deducted points. Make sure to understand exactly what she wants when answering a question while she lectures and in her practice midterms. Make sure to participate.
Pretty lenient on homework grading, but there's a fair amount. Do sample review exams, they're harder than the actual so it'll prepare you. Gives answer keys to HW/Sample tests. Organized lecture notes on OneNote, pretty caring professor. Tests are proctored but open-notes. Only several collaborative sessions but answers questions during lectures.
From my experience I would say absolutely try to avoid her class. I took the Asynchronous one and she barely posts any lectures. I was kinda forced to take her, since she was the only person left. I would say try to find someone better and take a class that has an actual meeting either on zoom or in person. Thx
Take her class if you want to learn instead of looking for a good grade. She explains everything clearly. She notes important problems in One Note so that it's easy for students to follow and practice. There are 3 exams and 1 final test. Spend time doing homework, you'll be fine.
To be fair, Calculus is a hard course but she definitely does not make it any easier. Her lecture videos are all over the place and her quizzes are nothing like her lectures. For someone who has been always good at math, I struggled a lot. Don't take this class, this class definitely gave me so much unnecessary stress.
taking MAT 004A with kravets humbled me so hard. since my calc 1 & calc 2 professors were really lenient, I expected the same going in. needless to say, I was veery wrong. while studying for the midterms & finals, make sure you re-do the homework & practice exams she gives out, it will prepare you. trust me. don't be like me and study last minute!
Her class isn't for lazy students. There're 3 midterms and a final test. You need to do homework and practice tests to prepare for these. Tests are challenging, but she gives a lot of extra credits. She always responds to questions immediately, clearly, and carefully. You'll find that you understand lectures instead of worrying about your scores.
The online class lacked proper lectures and the exams were tough. Should you use any material not taught to you, it is considered cheating. Although she is considerate, the assignments marked as extra credit were not used. Lack of lectures, lack of extra credit, and heavy grading makes her classes tough.
Stats is a tough class in general, but Zoya is so passionate and helpful that she truly wants you to succeed. If you get stuck or have questions, Zoya is there for you and does her best to make sure you understand the material. Both midterm and final are hard, but your notes are allowed. Tip: make sure you know how to calculate probabilities.
Professor Kravets was extremely knowledgeable about the subjects she taught and easy to reach outside of class. Lectures are done on OneNote and can be accessed outside of class. Textbook is online, but not the best. Do the homework (online and unlimited tries) and practice tests (which are similar, if not more difficult compared to actual tests).
Professor Kravets is a great, understanding teacher. I just finished her 8 week accelerated class. It is a tough class due to the material, itself, but she teaches well. Just be prepared to watch the video assignments and take notes. Gives great study guides for midterms and the final exam. Weekly assignments and quizzes. Got an A in the class.
The class has a lot of difficult exercises and tests. Professors do not support students. Students send emails to ask questions, professors are always silent and do not answer. If you get the math right your way, she'll say you didn't follow the book, and give you a low score. And she always finds the smallest mistakes and gives you low marks.
The test is very difficult unlike what is given as an exercise. Don't support students, and don't reply to emails when students have questions. Only email students when students make mistakes in the lesson. Always force students to solve math problems according to the teacher's instructions or they will get low scores.
Professor Kravets makes sure that her grading criteria is clear. The given videos, lecture notes and practice exams are all very big help, because almost all the content are on the exams. Just follow her instructions exactly as they are and you'll receive an A in the class.
I took Professor Kravets short-term class. Lots of reading and the homework was on MyOpenMath. The chapters weren't that difficult, but keep up with the reading and homework. There's two midterms and a final that are proctored. Also has helpful study guides. She doesn't very respond clearly to emails so you'll have to do most of the work yourself.
Professor Kravets uses OneNote for her lectures, so accessing all the content outside of class is easy. Her midterms can be difficult, so it is best to study by solving past problems and doing all the problems on her practice midterms. She gives extra credit. I took this course through dual enrollment and the workload was quite manageable.
i took mat10 as a 4 unit summer course, so mind you, it was hard. but she was super caring and supportive and laid out her expectations fairly and clearly. i asked a question once about the homework and two hours later, she had a video explaining it step-by-step. Always available and super sweet.
Tests are nothing like the homework given. Professor Kravets also responds very rudely and doesn't support when asking for extra help.
she was good in general, if you're ready to put in the effort to learn math you'll be fine. i just reviewed a lot on my own and paid attention in class, her tests could be tricky but if you really prepare for them and make your cheat sheet helpful it's not that hard to get an above 90. she is really approachable, responds fast, recommended
A good professor! She explains very well when there are questions.
Very tough grader but also a decent lecturer.
Boring class
Does not thoroughly go over examples. Very hard to find problems from lecture that are similar to the homework.
Zoya teaches the materials well. Even when you don't really understand the lectures, doing the homework really helps. Especially her exams are straightforward and very close to the practice tests. She is also available outside of class to help and does not make you feel bad for asking questions. She takes off points if you skip class.
Unbelievably intelligent woman who was a pleasure to learn from. Be warned her exams are harder than her practice exams or homework. Start studying for exams 2 weeks ahead to really grasp the material. She really wants students to succeed in her class and in the future. Not giving a 5 because she uploads lectures onto one note which I can't stand.
